THE OLD MAN WHO MADE FLOWERS GROW ON TREES
A wicked neighbour
Unfortunately, the old man lived in bad neighbourhood. Their neighbour was a
wicked and greedy man. He also heard Shiro’s banking. From his field which was next the
old man’s, he saw what happened. He was very jealous and wanted some gold for himself.
He pretended to be friendly, so the old man gave the dog to his neighbour. As they said
goodbye he told Shiro to be a good dog. But Shiro would not follow his new master. Shiro
lay down on the ground and shook with fear. The cruel neighbour tied ropes around the dog’s
neck and dragged him to a corner that the poor dog could hardly lie down. It was so tight
around his troat that his own master could not hear his week barks. “ Now then, “ shouted the
cruel neighbour, “ where is it buried ? Find it for me or I will kill you.”
Shiro is badly and dies
He dug in the ground before Shiro’s nose. As he dug he hit against something hard.
The man stood still. The neighbour thought he had found gold. The next moment he was
digging the earth with both hands. But he found old bits of cloth, wooden shoes, and broken
bricks. The dog was very frigthen underneath the tree. He was badly hurt, but the rope was
broken and he was able run away. Shiro was in great pain and soon his master heard his cries
and hurried over. When he saw what had happened, the oldman was very un-happy. He took
Shiro gently in his arms. “ Shiro, my poor Shiro, what terrible thing has happened to you?
Will you ever forgive me? Will you ever forgive my cruel mistake?” the old man cried. But
Shiro could do nothing, he held him more tightly. The old man returned home sadly with his
dog.

THE BIRDS, BEAST, AND BAT
The bird and the beast were at wat. This had been going on for a long time and many
battles had been fought. Sometimes the birds won and the beasts lost. But there was one
creature that was always on the winning side, whichever it might be, and that was the bat. If
the bat thought the side he was fighting for was losing, he simply changed to the other side.
The birds and the beast noticed, of course. It was hard not to.
Finally an agreement was reached and the war between the birds and the beasts was
ended. The bat was sure that now he would be popular with everyone. After all, had not he
helped to win every battle? “ They might even make me king,” he thought proudly. But
things did not work out quite the way he expected.
“ You are a two-faced traitor,” said the birds and the beasts. “ You are loyal to no one.
You let down both sides. We want nothing more to do with you.” From that day onwards the
bat was an outcast, shunned by both birds and beasts.
The evolution of music is a marker of how we as people have changed also. Back in
the 1950’s you would have never heard anyone curse or take the name of the Lord in vain,
but now it is rampant throughout some forms of music. Music is also a way to relieve stress
and to even improve your health. Take for instance in the spa, do they play heavy metal? No,
they play soothing classical or instrumental music to help relieve stress and relax the body.
Overall music is a way to please the imagination or to stimulate or soothe the soul.
If your daily activities makes you really depressed, you are supposed to appreciate the
music you like just for a little while and it will refresh your mind.

THE MUSIC
Music is an instrument that people use all over the world to express their feelings and
show their emotion. Music has the power to change moods and influence people into doing
things that they would not normally do. There are several different varieties of music ranging
from pop to classical from Etta James to Elvis Presley to Dave Mathews Band.
Music is an international barrier breaker that can tear down walls of hatred and open
up hearts to feelings of love. With each generation of teenagers a new style of music is born
that relates to what is going on in the world at that time. Take for instance in the 1950’s and
1960’s when the barrier lines between black and white were being broken down, people
regardless of their colour united at the Lincoln memorial singing old dirges like “ We Shall
Overcome.” Nicolas Wolterstroff quotes, “ We were united in the music because we were
united in the cause of civil rights, our unity in the music contributed, in turn, to our unity in
the cause.”

CALIFORNIA
Every year, millions of tourist visit California. California is known for its beautiful
scenery, warm climate, and excellent food. There are twenty national parks in California.
They are visited by over thirty million people every year. Many world-famous museums
locate there, including the Getty Museum in Malibu and the San Francisco Museum of
Modern Art. The state devided into two parts, called Northern california and Southern
California. San Francisco and Yosemite National park locate in Northern California. San
Francisco surroended by water on three sides and it is a city with a beautiful bay and several
bridges. It is streets are always filled with tourist.
On the north end the bay in Napa Valley, where many excellent wines produced.
South of San Francisco, there is an area that is famous for it is computer industries find there.
Los Angeles, Hollywood, and Disneyland locate in Southern California is known for it is
desert areas, which are sometimes next to snowcapped mountains. Southern California is one
of the few places in the world where you can ski in the morning and surf in the afternoon.
Many road accidents happen at night. A major reason for this is that certain colour are not
easily observed in poor light conditions. Thus, cars painted in those colours are not easily
noticed by other drivers. One solution would be needed to overcome poor visibility due car
colour and thus reduce traffic accidentd related to it.
Yellow and White are the two paint surface that reflect most light. For this reason,
yellow is used as a background for road signs and other important signals. Moreover, yellow
and white are not generally problems for the colour-blind. The problem with this solution is
that people have a strong preference with regard to colour. They like their cars to have some
distinctiveness. It is an emotional issue. Although there may be emotional resistance to this
idea of painting all cars yellow and white, this life-saving benefit must surely outweigh the
conditioned colour fads of motorist.
