6. Digital Printmaking
Origins and History
Giclee printmaking was pioneered during the late 1980s by
printmakers using Iris Graphics inkjet printers. (Iris
Graphics was later bought out by Scitex, an Israeli
company, and is now part of Kodak Inc.). These Iris printers
were originally used to produce digital proofs in commercial
situations - like magazine publishing, product labels &
containers - where colour fidelity and colour matching was
critical. The prints allowed quality controllers to see how
colours and tones would look, prior to mass production.
8. 3D Rendering of an Interior Design
3D computer graphics software refers to programs used
to create 3D computer-generated imagery. This article
covers only some of the software used.
9. Digitally Produced Graphics
Using Vector based Graphics.
Vector graphics is based on images made up of vectors
(also called paths, or strokes) which lead through
locations called control points. Each of these points has
a definite position on the x and y axes of the work plan.
12. Catalogue of Art/Design Work
Catalogues for art may range
in scale from a single printed
sheet to a lavish hardcover
"coffee table book". The
advent of cheap colour
printing in the 1960s
transformed what had usually
been simple hand lists with
several works to each page
into larger scale.
14. Typography
Typography is the art and technique
of arranging type in order to make
language visible. The arrangement of
type involves the selection of
typefaces, point size, line
length, line spacing, adjusting the
spaces between groups of letters and
adjusting the space between pairs of
letters
15. Photographic

Photomontage.

photographs in order to create an illusion or deception in contrast to
mere enhancement or correction, through analogue or digital means.
