JSC «Rosaviaconsortium»

               Joint Stock Company Russian Avia Consortium Corporation is one of the first companies in Russia to
               specialize in the management of civil aviation and aircraft industry projects. The company was
               established through RF Presidential Decree No. 496 on May 18, 1995 for the optimization and expediting
               of work for the advancement of domestic aircraft manufacturing engineering on the Russian market,
               specifically production of aircraft in the Tupolev Tu-204 family. Private investors, civil aircraft designers
               and manufacturers, primarily the A.N. Tupolev Aviation Scientific and Technological Complex and
               Russia’s flag carrier Aeroflot Russian International Airlines composed the shareholder structure.

               The dissolution of traditional cooperative and organizational ties in the aviation industry as a result of
               demise of the Soviet Union prevented the launch of the Tu-204 series production and only a limited
               number of the aircraft entered into operations. The new realities of the Russian economy required new
               approaches for the realization of large-scale aircraft production projects.

               The innovative project-oriented approach to development of the complex and typically cross-industry
               projects formed the basis of the company’s activity. Over its 15-year history, Rosaviaconsortium has
               successfully managed a wide range of aviation projects.
Frigate Ecojet – Computer Model View
Frigate Ecojet program objectives:

                  The main objective of the program is the development of the Frigate Ecojet, a next-generation wide
                  body short and medium haul aircraft competitive on the international civil aviation market through the
                  application of conceptually new aerodynamic and structural design. The aircraft is expected to enter
                  series production in 2014-2016. The operational performance parameters of the Frigate Ecoject is
                  expected to exceed that of the most advanced civil aircraft in 2010 by 15-20%.

                  The Frigate Ecojet, developed in partnership with the Russian Centre of Aviation Science at the N.E.
                  Zhukovsky Central Aerohydrodynamics Institute, is destined to become a foundational platform for
                  the introduction of innovative solutions and technologies developed by the Russian aviation industry.
Passenger Traffic vs. Route Distance in Russia (2007)

                  Contemporary studies of the global air transport market have revealed a segment of air transport with a
                  flight range of 3000 to 4000 km in which the operation of wide-body aircraft is very effective. Over 56%
                  of all global flights of wide-body long-haul aircraft are actually less than 3000 km. In some regions of the
                  world, this percentage is much higher.

                  Analysis of the Russian air transportation system provides firm data supporting a category of flight range
                  between 500 to 3500 km as the core of a potential target market segment. Consequently, a key market
                  requirement for "range vs. maximum pay load" criteria could be set at 3500 km. Another key market
                  requirement is a "single class seat capacity" of 295-300 seats.
Memorandum of Understanding
             In April 2009 Russian Aviation Consortium and United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) signed
             a Memorandum of Understanding.




                           The memorandum of understanding confirms the formation of
                           a Joint Working Group for ongoing technological research and
                            economic feasibility studies for production based on the next
                           generation wide body concept for short/medium haul aircraft.

The power plant unit for the forthcoming modification of midhaul aircraft of the TU-204 family and long haul aircraft
of the IL-96 family, as well as the next generation A340 aircraft.
The engine achieves an increased fuel efficiency of 10-16% and saves 10 -15% on the life cycle cost as compared with
PS-90А2, PW2000, and RB211-535E4 engines.

Analysis of Airline Route Networks

                Analysis of airline route networks has demonstrated that an Ecojet’s 302-seat version operating at
                ranges of up to 3500 km will exceed fuel efficiency parameters of all currently operated aircraft of the
                same class on these routes by 25%. During flights with 352 passengers on a range of 2500 km, the gain
                in fuel efficiency increases to 30%.

        Acting stress levels from floor beams compression is less than 10kg/mm2 and the critical buckling
        stress of the floor beam rib becomes considerably higher through selection of beam cross-section
        type.

Conclusions on the structural design of
Frigate Ecojet:

                  1. Structural design conditions for the airframe have been formed.
                  2. Evaluation of maximum loads on the main structural elements has been performed.
                  3. A list of materials for application in the airframe has been compiled.
                  4. Allowable stress levels meeting static strength requirements, fatigue, and operational
                     survivability have been defined.
                  5. A finite element model has been developed.
                  6. Dimensions of airframe elements (beams, bulkheads, passenger cabin floor and cargo hold
                     floor), skin thickness and wing panel heights have been selected.
                  7. Aeroelasticity (flutter) features valuation has been conducted.
                  8. The level of airframe deformation with pressurized cabin is approximately 0.3% of the aircraft
                     fuselage length, which meets the aerodynamic requirements of surface evenness in the direction
                     of the aircraft axis.
                  9. A design weight report has been completed. Weight characteristics of the airframe are within the
                     acceptable weight limits required to achieve design performance data.

Study of Integral Aircraft (IS-1) Configurations


             Configuration of the aircraft prototype represents the realization of the best military and civil aircraft design.


             A study of the overall trends in aircraft development and the most advanced Western aircraft design reveals that the
             traditional aircraft body design has reached the maximum level of aerodynamic refinement and that future design
             development stands to benefit most from exploiting the application of new aerodynamic schemes. The completely new
             design approach of the IS-1 aircraft represents an engineering breakthrough potentially satisfying the needs of next
             generation aerodynamics and serving as a prototype for future development in this area.

Conclusion:

    The result of the conceptual design phase demonstrated feasibility of a new wide-body aircraft for short
    and medium haul routes with low technical risks. Aircraft shows high level of safety and comfort, as well
    as a high degree of competitiveness.




    Concurrent with the aircraft development process using an integral aerodynamic scheme, engineers have
    obtained a wealth of experience and vindicated more than 50 patents.

JSC «Rosaviaconsortium» Joint Stock Company Russian Avia Consortium Corporation is one of the first companies in Russia to specialize in the management of civil aviation and aircraft industry projects. The company was established through RF Presidential Decree No. 496 on May 18, 1995 for the optimization and expediting of work for the advancement of domestic aircraft manufacturing engineering on the Russian market, specifically production of aircraft in the Tupolev Tu-204 family. Private investors, civil aircraft designers and manufacturers, primarily the A.N. Tupolev Aviation Scientific and Technological Complex and Russia’s flag carrier Aeroflot Russian International Airlines composed the shareholder structure. The dissolution of traditional cooperative and organizational ties in the aviation industry as a result of demise of the Soviet Union prevented the launch of the Tu-204 series production and only a limited number of the aircraft entered into operations. The new realities of the Russian economy required new approaches for the realization of large-scale aircraft production projects. The innovative project-oriented approach to development of the complex and typically cross-industry projects formed the basis of the company’s activity. Over its 15-year history, Rosaviaconsortium has successfully managed a wide range of aviation projects.

Frigate Ecojet program objectives: The main objective of the program is the development of the Frigate Ecojet, a next-generation wide body short and medium haul aircraft competitive on the international civil aviation market through the application of conceptually new aerodynamic and structural design. The aircraft is expected to enter series production in 2014-2016. The operational performance parameters of the Frigate Ecoject is expected to exceed that of the most advanced civil aircraft in 2010 by 15-20%. The Frigate Ecojet, developed in partnership with the Russian Centre of Aviation Science at the N.E. Zhukovsky Central Aerohydrodynamics Institute, is destined to become a foundational platform for the introduction of innovative solutions and technologies developed by the Russian aviation industry.

Passenger Traffic vs. Route Distance in Russia (2007) Contemporary studies of the global air transport market have revealed a segment of air transport with a flight range of 3000 to 4000 km in which the operation of wide-body aircraft is very effective. Over 56% of all global flights of wide-body long-haul aircraft are actually less than 3000 km. In some regions of the world, this percentage is much higher. Analysis of the Russian air transportation system provides firm data supporting a category of flight range between 500 to 3500 km as the core of a potential target market segment. Consequently, a key market requirement for "range vs. maximum pay load" criteria could be set at 3500 km. Another key market requirement is a "single class seat capacity" of 295-300 seats.
  • 8. Memorandum of Understanding In April 2009 Russian Aviation Consortium and United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The memorandum of understanding confirms the formation of a Joint Working Group for ongoing technological research and economic feasibility studies for production based on the next generation wide body concept for short/medium haul aircraft.

Analysis of Airline Route Networks Analysis of airline route networks has demonstrated that an Ecojet’s 302-seat version operating at ranges of up to 3500 km will exceed fuel efficiency parameters of all currently operated aircraft of the same class on these routes by 25%.   • 23. Conclusions on the structural design of Frigate Ecojet: 1. Structural design conditions for the airframe have been formed. 2. Evaluation of maximum loads on the main structural elements has been performed. 3. A list of materials for application in the airframe has been compiled. 4. Allowable stress levels meeting static strength requirements, fatigue, and operational survivability have been defined. 5. A finite element model has been developed. 6. Dimensions of airframe elements (beams, bulkheads, passenger cabin floor and cargo hold floor), skin thickness and wing panel heights have been selected. 7. Aeroelasticity (flutter) features valuation has been conducted. 8. The level of airframe deformation with pressurized cabin is approximately 0.3% of the aircraft fuselage length, which meets the aerodynamic requirements of surface evenness in the direction of the aircraft axis. 9. A design weight report has been completed. Weight characteristics of the airframe are within the acceptable weight limits required to achieve design performance data.

  • 26. Study of Integral Aircraft (IS-1) Configurations Configuration of the aircraft prototype represents the realization of the best military and civil aircraft design. A study of the overall trends in aircraft development and the most advanced Western aircraft design reveals that the traditional aircraft body design has reached the maximum level of aerodynamic refinement and that future design development stands to benefit most from exploiting the application of new aerodynamic schemes. The completely new design approach of the IS-1 aircraft represents an engineering breakthrough potentially satisfying the needs of next generation aerodynamics and serving as a prototype for future development in this area.

Aircraft shows high level of safety and comfort, as well as a high degree of competitiveness. Concurrent with the aircraft development process using an integral aerodynamic scheme, engineers have obtained a wealth of experience and vindicated more than 50 patents. The project is being executed under the management framework of Rosaviaconsortium, which retains all rights.
