When planning a conference it’s essential to arrange the preparations so that your event doesn’t end up in a timing conflict with potentially competing events. Since our [Semantic Days] conference targets an audience who are engaged within the much wider ‘information management’ space, «juxtaposed» subjects also need to be checked out.

Semantic Days ’13 and potential conference crashes
1. Semantic Days ’13:
Investigation of potential collisions with competing events
Searches cover terms indicated with star/asteroid (*) below, plus the text string «conference 2013». Obviously,
one will get a large number of hits; first screening gave approx. 40 events (of variable coverage; partly global,
regional and national) spread across a 15-month period. This overview is organized alphabetically according to
terms, and subsequently sorted chronologically (with clickable links). Even though none of the identified events
collide directly with the tentative timing for our event, I’ve included all more-or-less relevant hits within the
first half of the year (’13), because the overview can be of interest from more than one point of view. Put
together, there’s a strikingly broad offering in this space.
By-the-way: Some events that take place in 2012 are included, because I consider them particularly relevant as
‘competitors’ to us, – and because the sequel for ’13 doesn’t appear to be set /defined yet. These are empathized
with italic text.
