Skype Lesson Plan
Through this Skype lesson I am giving my students the chance to reflect on a
culture that is outside our own. I am promoting reflection by having my students
question, discuss, and reflect on the time they will spend with two separate
missionaries via Skype. Not only will we work face to face, but we will transfer
knowledge through the internet to a completely different continent.
My future goal for this standard is to expand this activity even further. I would
like to take the opportunity of virtually meeting these two missionaries even
further. The plan is to have my students look into some of the difficulties the
missionaries talk about and discuss ways that society can solve some of these
problems. I would like to also develop other tools with the guidance of my
students, where they are in the drivers seat deciding how they would like to use
Skype as an educational tool.

Pioneer Project Makeover
Rubric, Project proposal, and Other Handouts
In this assignment I have adapted Power Point and the internet to adapt with a
Pioneer Unit that takes place in my fourth grade classroom. Students are able
to pursue their own character and final project in an effort to meet each of their
individual needs. All students will meet the same learning goals, although they
may achieve them through different means.
In the future I would like to expand the options that my students have for
completing this project. In order to continue meeting and exceeding the
expectations of this standard, I would like to implement projects that involve
more technology as well as be open to student ideas for their final products.

4th Grade Social Bookmarking
This social bookmarking site allows me to support students success while they are at home or at school.
Mrs. Wilson’s Wiki
Through my classroom Wiki I am able to provide my parents with a variety of online tools to help meet
both their needs as well as that of their child.
Parents Web
This website allows me to post announcements, e-mail parents, post online newsletters, pictures, and
various other tools that will help the parents in my classroom. I use the tool RenWeb to put the
information online and parents view it through the Parents Web.
These are just a few of the tools that allow me to use technology while
communicating with those around me. By using these tools on a regular basis I am
demonstrating that I am fluent with these forms of technology, communicating with
others, and collaborating.
In the future I would like teach my students how they can make a Wiki or another
type of webpage. As a class, I would also like to start a blog that allows us to reflect
upon our learning and extend that to our families.

4th Grade Citation Presentation
This presentation allows me to work at presenting my students with the
knowledge appropriate, legal use of technology and other sources. It ties
directly in with one of the projects we complete in our class, but gives an
overview that they will be able to use in the future.
Skype Lesson
In this Skype activity my students will be able to work on practicing social
interactions while using technology and have appropriate etiquette (even
thought they are thousands of miles apart). Also, since my class will be
learning about different cultures and traditions at the same time they will have
a better understanding of the global tie with technology and the differences in
culture.
In the future I see myself expanding the Skype lesson to different types of people.
Currently I will be using it for missionaries that we have been praying for, but I
would like to use it with teachers I know who are abroad. It would be amazing
for my students to interact with classes in other countries and even complete a
lesson together.

CED 550
Through the course Technology Integration in a P-12 Curriculum I worked
on integrating technology into my classroom, while renewing myself and my
cooperating teachers.
EDUC 533
Through the course Enhancing Education With Technology through Dordt
University, participating in finding new ways of using technology
appropriately within my classroom. I am also evaluating and reflecting the
practices I currently use, as well as some that I should implement.
I plan on continually pursuing ways to continuing to meet this standard.
Whether it be reading a new book, taking a graduate technology class, or
participating in workshops with fellow teachers, I plan on continuing to
grow in this area.
