Kruse Elementary is equipped with various technology resources to enhance classroom instruction including a Promethean board, document camera, and projector in each classroom. Additional technologies available include desktop computers for student use, laptops for administrative and special education use, and a CPS chalkboard for interactive trainer presentations without being in front of the classroom. Teachers are able to utilize the technology tools like the Promethean boards, document cameras, and software to create engaging lessons and allow students to review material.

2. Purpose This PowerPoint will show the various types of technology that can be found at Kruse Elementary and their purpose. All items can be found in the school and are accessible by the teachers.

3. Promethean Boards Each classroom at Kruse Elementary is equipped with a promethean board and pen/wand. Teachers use the promethean board to enhance the lessons making them interactive. Along with the software ActivStudio and/or ActivInspire, teachers can create flipcharts to teach the objective.

4. Document Cameras Each classroom is also equipped with a document camera. The document cameras can be used to show images onto the promethean board. The document camera allows the teacher to enlarge objects, such as books and/or worksheets, so that the entire class can see it clearly.

5. Epson Projector Epson projectors have been installed in all classrooms at Kruse Elementary. The projectors allow the teachers to use the promethean boards and the document cameras.

6. Dell Desktop Computers This year all classrooms have been equipped with 3-4 desktop computers for student use. Each computer is connected to the Internet as well as a printer. Students are able to use the computers to complete assignments, review objectives and/or during workstations.

7. Dell Laptops The school currently has only a handful of laptops, but it is in the middle of purchasing a mobile laptop unit for check-out by teachers. Currently, the laptops are mainly used by the administrators, facilitators, and the Special Education department.

8. CPS Chalkboard Kruse Elementary uses the CPS chalkboard during trainings to allow the trainer to move freely around the room. The CPS chalkboard allows you to use any program on the computer, draw illustrations and/or write on the promethean board without having to be in front of the classroom.
