30 seconds For those of you not familiar with voting technology – it’s simply a system that allows you to ask your group a question. They all respond with special handsets and you can see those results instantly. Detailed reports afterwards tell you even more.
70 seconds As my colleague here is demonstrating we are going to run some instant reports from our session. There are over 30 different types of reports which meet every type of assessment scenario. All of our reports generate as Microsoft Excel spreadsheets which means anyone can open and read them with no specialist software required – great for sharing with interested parties. The reports are available instantly like this, but I can also refer back to them at any time in the future. For example when meeting parents, writing reports, or setting homework. The first report we can see here gives me an overview of the class as a whole. It’s a useful one, for example, for deciding what kinds of mental starters to use in my next lesson. The next report we’ve generated tells me the same information but split down by the boys and the girls. I’ve used the example of boys and girls here just to illustrate things, but in the classroom this can be great for example if I have a mixed ability class and want to track different ability groups. The final report tells me how individual pupils responded in detail. If you look at the back of your handset you’ll see names that correspond to this report. Correct answers are highlighted in green like this – imagine the time saved on marking!
40 seconds There’s so much more to TurningPoint than I can show you right now but here are the three most popular with people such as yourselves. TurningPoint Anywhere allows you to collect responses alongside other applications outside PowerPoint, which means the whole system works the way you want it to, rather than forcing you to learn new software. The system comes with a portable licence which sits on the receiver adding to the flexibility in terms of using it on as many machines as you like, at home and at school. Existing users are taking advantage of letting pupils create questions for each other, as an example. Most useful though, is the masses of support available to you. Our online tutorials and forum will get you using TurningPoint in advanced ways in no time at all, and you can always pick up the phone to us for help whenever you need it.
On our previous slides we looked bits of TurningPoint that I didn’t have time to show you in detail. I do however want to show you just how easy it is to get started – to create a question slide. As you can see it really is a matter of selecting one of these templates, I choose vertical slide most often, then entering my question here and my answer options here…like this…To vote I go in to presentation mode and if you use your handsets to respond you can see how the whole task was such a piece of cake.
