Ridgiduct Cable Duct Underground Power Cable Ducting Ridgiduct cable duct is suitable for underground cable ducting of low and high voltage power cables, this includes 400/1000 volt, 11kV, 33kV and triplex cables - Ridgiduct is a twin wall cable duct system specified by most of the UK DNO's and regional electricity companies. Ridgiduct Power 100mm, 125mm and 150mm cable duct complies fully with the ESI (Electricity Supply Industry) specification for ducts, ESI-12-24. Ridgiduct cable ducts are available in pre-cut lengths of 1, 2, 3 and 6 metre lengths - printed electrical cable duct can be manufactured to special order. Ridgiduct Cable Duct Ducting 11kV Single Core Trefoil Cables - recommended practice is to cable tie fasten the 3 ducts together in touching trefoil formation - suitable plastic cable ties prevent movement of the ducts and treated as single ducts for backfilling purposes. This ensures the three single core triplex cable cores remain in trefoil formation at a controlled spacing which has been taken into account in the cable rating calculations. Note if the triplex cable cores are separated too far the circulating currents in the high voltage screen wires increase and cause additional heating. Also : Duct Seals Ducted Cable Installations for 11kv High Voltages Outside diameter of three core polymeric (XLPE) cables is approximately 5% larger than 3 core PICAS cables - three single core cables in trefoil are a further 5% larger in diameter than the equivalent 3 core polymeric (XLPE) cables. 95sqmm and 185sqmm HV cables (both three single core and 3 core) will fit in 100mm ducts. 11kV 300sqmm single cores are unlikely to fit in a 100mm duct due to minimal clearance available - a 150mm duct should be used. Where single core 11kV cables are to be installed in ducts to form one three phase circuit, it is generally acceptable to install all three cores in a single 100mm duct or 150mm duct. If a LV pilot cable is to be laid in the same cable track or trench as high voltage cable (s) and it has to be installed in a duct then it should be a seperate duct from the high voltage cables. Ridgicoil power cable ducting is coiled twin wall cable protection - the flexible cable ducting eliminates the need for special bends. Ridgicoil cable duct is available in 40mm OD (31mm ID), 50mm OD (40mm ID), 63mm OD (50mm ID), 75mm (60mm ID), 90mm OD (71mm ID), 110mm OD (94mm ID) and 160mm (140mm ID).
