Six (6) pointers to make 2014 all that it can be. The roads ahead may not always be easy however if you remember the following 6 things it can be a bit more bearable. Happy New Year everyone! And here is to 2014!
2. 1
Accept Yourself
Today you are YOU, that is truer than true,
there is no one in the world more YOUer than
YOU! No matter what you are going through
whether BIG or small remember to be yourself,
be strong and stand tall.
You were born beautiful and full of life,
whether you are gay, straight or bisexual,
African American, Hispanic or Caucasian, fat
or skinny, tall or short – you are who you are.
So what you may not look like everyone
else… you don‟t need to all you need to do it
be yourself. We all have insecurities, we just
have to learn to accept them. And if there is
any aspect of you that you want to change
make sure you are doing it for you, not for a
guy or girl do it for YOU!
“I am ME and that is exactly
who I want to be!”
3. 2
Be Happy
We owe it to ourselves to be happy. With the
drama and stress we have to put up with daily –
traffic, rude co-workers and even life itself, we
need to have a jovial spirit and a very positive
outlook to not be consumed by life‟s negativity.
No matter what 2014 throws at you, remember
to smile and take things one step at a time.
President Lincoln once wrote „people are usually
as happy as they make their minds up to be,‟ so
this year make up your mind to be the happiest
you have ever been this lifetime. And yes, things
will get you down, and of course there will be
low days, but pick yourself up and don‟t allow
anything or anyone steal your happiness.
“I am responsible for my own
happiness.”
4. Eat Healthy & Exercise
3
One of the most popular (and unachieved) new
year‟s resolution is the pledge to lose weight and start
exercising. Year after year we create unrealistic goals
for the new year and eventually shy away from them
when we realize it does not collaborate with our
everyday life.
But eating healthy and having an active lifestyle
should take precedence over anything thing else.
Think about it: you have to eat to survive… so why not
eat healthy?
For 2014 start small, when you go to the grocery store,
park in the back aisle and walk inside and at least
once per week turn the TV off and go for a walk
around the block. Instead of having fast food for
lunch, pack lunch and take it with you. This can also
help you save money. Remember, one healthy
decision leads to another, and the same holds true
for an unhealthy one.
“A healthy outside begins inside.”
5. 4
Set Achievable Goals
Heights by great men reached and kept,
Were not obtained by sudden flight,
But, they while their companions slept,
Were toiling upward in the night.
Have you ever wondered why most people who
make New Year‟s Resolutions never achieve
them? Well, it‟s because most of the times the
goal they set is far beyond achievable.
As humans, when we accomplish what we set out
to it renews our strength and confidence and
encourages you to keep going. It then seems like
a smarter route to create a series of achievable
goals.
“Accomplishing something you set
out to is a sure way to boast
confidence!”
6. 5
Live, Love, Laugh
Live like there is no tomorrow
Love like you have never been hurt
Laugh like you never laughed before
“Cry. Forgive. Learn. Move on. Let
your tears water the seeds of your
future happiness.”
7. 6
Take things one
day at a time
“As long as you keep walking,
you will overcome whatever you
are going through…”
8. What Now?
Be Happy!
Accept Yourself!
Start eating healthy and exercising.
Come up with achievable goals.
Live, Love and Laugh like there is no tomorrow.
Take things one step at a time!
