Introduction This presentation aims to provide you, the adults of tomorrow, an insight into the legislative measures passed to aid the LGBT community.
Six per cent of the population, or about 3.6 million Britons, are either gay or lesbian.
Same sex marriage is known as a civil partnership.
Shannon Sickels and Grainne Close became the first gay couple to get 'married' in the United Kingdom.
Civil Partnership Act 2004 was given Royal Assent on the 18th November 2004
The Equality Act of 2010 was passed, which allows same sex couples in England and Wales to enter civil partnerships in religious venues, but only if owner of the building has allowed the conduct of the ceremony.
Gender Recognition Act 2004 was given Royal Assent on the 18th November, allows transexuals to change their legal gender.
In 2005 same sex couples were allowed to adopt
