BEFORE AMUL …
Unorganized and exploited farmers
Controlled by middlemen … establishment of Polson Dairy
in 1929
Establishment of GBMS in March 1945 & award of
Monopoly Right to Polson by Nov 15, 1945
Along with freedom movement of the country, a parallel
movement of farmers led by freedom fighters like Sardar
Vallabhai Patel, Morarji Desai and Tribhuvandas Patel led to
the formation of Amul in 1946
