2. I’m on my way to the New World, to find out what kind of
a person my father was. He has recently passed away and
left me with his farming and trading business. My father
had made friends with the neighbouring natives that had
land close to his, which eventually, he bought to cultivate
resources. I’ll be visiting the St. Lawrence Lowlands to
learn about my inheritance, as well as the natives who live
there. I’ll be bringing back knowledge of the New World
and will return to my homeland to inform my British
family and friends.
16. “Ojibwe Girl”
• Well, I took a stroll on the old long walk
Of a day -I-ay-I-ay
I met a little girl and I took a shot
On a fine spring day -I-ay
And I ask you, friend, what's a fella to do
'Cause her hair was black and her eyes were true
And I knew right then I'd be takin' a whirl
'Round the Niagara falls, Ojibwe girl
We were halfway there when the rain came down
Of a day -I-ay-I-ay
And he asked me up to his flat downtown
Of a fine soft day -I-ay
And I ask you, friend, what's a girl to do
'Cause his hair was black and his eyes were true
So I took his hand and I gave him a twirl
And I lost my heart to an English fool
When I woke up I was all alone
With a broken heart and a ticket home
And I ask you now, tell me what would you do
If her hair was black and her eyes were true
I've traveled around been all over this world
I ain't never seen nothin' like Ojibwe girl
