3. My First Reading
My first reaction to the poem was that the
tiny woodpecker had made himself a
home in the telephone pole, and was
watching as the weather went by. I felt
sorry that the woodpecker didn't have
any family in the pole with him.
4. Sound Devices
The poem uses rhyming e.g hole-
pole, head-red
Repetition e.g big, big wheels
Adjectives e.g sparkles, streams,
big, snuggles.
Rhythm e.g throughout the poem
5. I think the poem is trying
to say....
I think the poem is trying to talk
about how the woodpecker made
his own home, and throw the day
passes.
6. Type of poem
I think that this poem is just a free
flow poem because I can't recognize
any type of poetry that we have
learnt about in this poem.
7. Literal Sense
I think that the literal sense in this
poem is basically talking about a
woodpeckers life.
8. What does the poem say
about the subject
The poem says that the woodpecker
is red, and looks like it is wearing a
hood and a collar.
9. Figurative Devices
This author uses personification,
because it says that the woodpecker is
wearing a hood and collar of red.
10. Overall Summary
Overall, I thought that the poem
was perfectly written, as I would
not change anything. I liked how
they chose a simple subject
(woodpecker), and talked about
it's life (making a home).

12. The Bird and the Bee
I once saw a little bird
Sitting in a tree
He was eating lemon curd
And was accompanied by a bee
I thought he was a nerd
Because he was a referee
His friend was very furred
And he kept staring at the sea
I told my best friend about the bee and the bird
But she just said "Sure" very sarcastically
