6. What is a volcano?
A volcano is a piece of land (usually shaped
like a hill or a mountain) that holds magma
which erupts when the plates underneath the
earth get too hot and need to " cool off "
8. Where is Lake Taupo
Volcano?
The Lake Taupo volcano is in Taupo in the centre of the North Island
of New Zealand. Not only does Taupo have the one volcano, but it has
a whole region full!
10. The Eruption
There are three types of magma that erupt in
different volcanoes. Lake Taupo's magma was
called 'rhyolite' which is very dangerous as it has
extra silica content. With gas or smoke Rhyolite
can be EXTREMELY violent.
