2. The lighting seems to be dark, and the main action
seems to happen at the night time, dark makes it
more intense and frightening, it creates tension
within the audience as they know horror will take
place when the lighting is dark. These places could
be in an interior or an exterior setting e.g. basement,
grave yards, forests, garage, attic, alley way etc
Costumes that are mainly portrayed in thus genre
are mainly dark clothing items that would include a
black/grey hoodie. Also clothing that would hide
there identity, they would also were masks to cover
there faces.
Many props are used in this genre such as knife, fake
blood, masks, other weapons
3. The main plot of this genre seems to have a
psychologist disturbed villain who stalks
someone innocent mainly to be a women
because of something from there past or
something they've done and at the end
ends up murdering them in horror and
there identity being revealed.
4. Within this genre there are may
different types o of character.
The main character would be the
villain and the victim who is often a
women, the villain is often a
frustrated male character seeking for
revenge. Other characters could
include other women that would get
attacked by the villain.
5. This genre uses a lot of different types of
sounds both diegetic and non diegetic,
the non diegetic sounds like rhythmic,
oscillating sounds. These sounds builds
up tension and bring mystery in to the
genre. Typical sounds that are within this
genre include screaming, shouting,
crying, yelling etc the most tension
building sound is silence, silence creates
tension and anxiety within the audience,
it creates an effect where something
scary will happen just after the silence.
Sounds effects are created by Foley artists
who use props/food to make sounds of
different things happening e.g. stabbing a
water melon that creates sound of
stabbing someone.
6. This genre uses a lot of
cinematography techniques to show a
characters actions/emotions and the
settings its filmed in. Close up shot is
used to show a characters emotions
and feelings. Low angle could be
used to show the villains dominance
over the victim. Handheld techniques
are used to show the realness of
what's happening. The audience feel
that they are witnessing the same
scene with the characters. Point of
view shots are also used to show
what the characters are looking at so
the audience could witness what they
are looking at and feel as if they are
in the characters shoes.
7. The trailer of this genre would be
very face paced, showing horror and
a lot of action taking place. Images
fade on to the next to make it look
dramatic, the trailers use other
transitions to show the more horror
within the movie, we see a lot which
makes us want to witness the full
movie.
