Buddha Site and Shahr-e-Gholghola (City of Screams)
The Bamiyan Province in central Afghanistan is lush and beautiful compared to most of the
rest of the country. It is also peaceful and stable with unparalleled cultural and historical
landmarks. This Album is from my visit to the Buddha site and the ruins of Shaha-e-
Gholghola.
2. The Antonov 124 is the World’s 2nd largest plane. Only the
Antonov 225 (modified from the 124 airframe) is larger.
3. BEAUTY & BROUN!

4. (Top-Clockwise)
I don’t remember
what I said…but
it was good.

one of our trucks

The Giant Rising.
5.
6. Most of what we received on 124s was Mi17s (3 at a time)
7. I can’t tell you how many Mi-
17s we off load…No Really
– I can’t tell you.
8. Antonov 124s are a daily site
here at the Kabul International
Whether owned by Volga Dnepr
Airport (KAIA) – (top center)
or Antonov there are usually
looking down the forward
multiple 124s here any given
companion way ladder from the
day
upper deck. That’s my shoe in
the lower corner.
9. What’s “not” as common is
an Antonov 124 in Alliance
TX (Fort Worth)
10. Six fully assembled (minus
the vertical stabilizers and
one tail rotor blade) Bell
UH1 Helicopters
11. The six UH1s loaded hardly
make a dent in the 124s max
takeoff weight
