Reagan Assassination
The Ronald Reagan Presidential Compromise
The Assassination Attempt

On Monday, March 30, 1981, President Ronald Reagan was shot by
 John Hinckley Jr.

The attemtpt took place just 69 days after the beginning of his
presidency while leaving a speaking conference at the Washington Hilton
 Hotel in Washington D.C
Casualties

3 others besides Reagan were also shot during the skirmish.

Ronald Reagon suffered a punctured lung but recovered quickly due to
 speedy medical attention.

All who where attacked survived the incident.
Reason behind the attack

John Hinckley Jr was found not guilty by clinical insanity, he is currently
 confined in a psychiatric facility.

Due to his obsession with Jodie Foster, he viewed the movie Taxi Driver
15 times and toward the end a U.S Senator was targeted for
 assassination.

He went as far as to enroll in Yale University after reading in a people
magazine that she studied there. She had no interest in him so he thought
he could be her equal by becoming a figure and assassinating the
 president.
In Depth Attempt at Assassination

Ronald Reagon and his wife Nancy Reagon visited Ford’s Theatre for a
fundraising event and Reagon recalled feeling a curious sensation after
gazing up at the place where Abraham Lincoln had beeen shot.

After feeling that curious sentiment, he was shortly shot at by Jhn
 Hinckley Jr succeeding the event.
The Shooting

At 2:27 pm Est, walking out of his hotel to his limousine, Hinckley stalked
within the crowd of fans and admirers to get his shot.

The President walked right in front of Hinckley and then he made his
move, he fired his gun 6 time in 1.7 seconds, missing all fatal spots with the
six shots but wounding the secret service and even lodging a bullet in the
president’s lung, stopping one inch from his heart.
George Washington University
Hospital

After The Secret Service had pushed the President into the limousine.
Reagan began to cough up blood, which led the Secret Service to
believe his lung had been punctured.

Following the assassination attempt, Reagon was administered into
  George Washington University Hospital.

Reagon’s Physician feared a heart attack and ordered the trauma team to
administer him to the emergency room.
Public Relation to the Crisis

The Assassination Attempt was captured by numerous cameras on the
scene, including ABC, NBC, and CBS; or the 3 big television
 networks.

Newspapers had printed extras regarding the incident and American
families from all over sat around the television to view this catashrophe.

The media swarmed the crisis and the public was informed of this
immediately by means of radio and television.
Reagan’s Medical Examination

The examination team, led by Dr. Joseph Giordano, found that
Reagan’s Systolic blood pressure was 60 versus the normal 140.

Reagan was treated with intravenous fluids to assist in stabilizing his
 condition.

He was also given oxygen, tetanus toxide, and chest tubes. He was in
excellent shape for a 70 year old man, according to Giordano.
Aftermath

Reagan, being the first president to survive an assassination, made his
staff anxious that they might attempt another murder.

Reagan’s plans for the month were cancelled due to his recovery stage.

The assassination attempt increased Reagan’s popularity to 73%, and
Reagan believed that God had spared his life to fulfill a greater purpose.
