- Initiation – Begins when a need is identified. Conceptual proposal is created. System Concept Development – Scope and boundaries of the concept are explored. Risk management assessments and analysis of costs and benefits are explored. Planning – Project management plan is developed. Requirements Analysis – user needs and requirements are analyzed. Design and Development – takes the detailed requirements and puts them into a detailed systems design document. Development phase takes the design and converts it into a complete information system. Coding, test databases, test files, systems environment, performing test readiness, are all a part of this phase. Integration and Testing – Takes the developed system and tests it against the requirements outlined in the project management plan . Performs quality assurance checks and test analysis reports. Implementation – puts the system into the production environment. Operations and Maintenance – operations and tasks are described to maintain the system in the production environment. Disposition – proper preparation of data for end of system.
