INFORMATIONS

Groupe de surf composés d'adolescents originaires de Glendora, Californie du Sud. Le groupe se forme en 1962.
'Wipe Out' initialement appelé 'Switch Blade' les rend célèbre et devient l'un des quelques hits instrumentaux à se
vendre à 1 million d'exemplaires et se classer 1er dans les Charts nationaux. (De nouveau, en 1966 ce titre atteindra la
16ème place du Top 20. 'Wipe Out' signifie tomber de sa planche de surf. Le rire que l'on entend au début du titre est le
fou rire de leur manager Dave SMALLIN).
Après Wipe Out, ils enregistrent encore quelques hits modestes, comme 'Surfer Joe' et Point Panic'.
A partir de leur troisième album "Hit City", le producteur Gary Usher leur adjoint une équipe de musiciens de session.
En 1965, lorsque le surf perd de sa popularité, les SURFARIS abandonne la musique surf et hot-rod et essaient d'entrer
dans le courant rock folk.
Wilson chante et Pat CONNOLLY est remplacé à la basse par Ken FORSSI.
Ensuite Jim PASH quitte le groupe. En 1981 Berryhill reprend le nom pour ressuciter le groupe de surf.
Wilson meurt d'une hémorragie cérébrale en 1989.
