4. YouTube
YouTube is the world's largest video sharing website.
Although most of the videos are user-generated, more
and more professional videos are beginning to appear
on the website. You can use it to:
• show off your expertise
• share knowledge
• market your products and
• connect with customers, colleagues and prospects.
It's easy to publish a video on YouTube, just sign up
and you're ready to go.
5. Stats
People are consuming video and lots of it. Here are a few stats to
give you an idea on just how effective your video marketing may
be:
•Over 800 million unique users visit YouTube each month
•Over 3 billion hours of video are watched each month on
YouTube
•72 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute
•70% of YouTube traffic comes from outside the US
•YouTube is localized in 43 countries and across 60 languages
•In 2011, YouTube had more than 1 trillion views or around 140
views for every person on Earth
The likelihood that your target audience is on watching is very
high. The reasons for getting your content on YouTube seem
quite obvious.
6. Business Goals
The types of video content are only bound by the
creative nature of your marketing team- everything
from instructional videos, product presentations,
commercials, skits, real estate walk-throughs and
much more.
But, your business goals boil down to two things:
• Build brand awareness through the use of video
• Use YouTube's embedding script to easily add
videos to your own website
7. Embedding YouTube Videos
Now, embedding a video onto a web page becomes as easy as cutting and pasting. How much does
it cost you to add a video from YouTube to your site? Nada--nothing. They provide the service, and
they also provide the bandwidth, so the video is hosted on their servers and uses their bandwidth.
Hard to beat a deal like that!
When you click the Share button, the HTML code used to embed a link that video is displayed
directly below it, however that's not what we are after--we want to directly embed the video into the
page. We do that by clicking the Embed button which is displayed directly below the Link URL.
Once you click the Embed button,
you will see the HTML code for
embedding the video, as shown.
Then you want to copy this code and
paste it into the source code of you
web page and save. Voila- easy
peasy!
8. How to use YouTube
Commenting on Videos can be an interesting strategy.
This is most valuable when commenting on videos in your
industry that have tens of thousands of views, or more.
With this volume of views, commenting will add to the
conversation and can be just as valuable as engaging in a
blogs comments.
You don't have to produce your own videos for you to
create a list of your favorite videos to share with others on
YouTube. Creating a favorite is an easy way to bookmark
specific videos for later and also shows engagement in the
YouTube community. Plus, if it's already been created, why
recreate the wheel and do it yourself?
9. How to use YouTube
YouTube has an interesting feature where you can share a video on multiple
social sites directly from the video page. Share your videos on your
website, blog, tweets and Facebook page. Videos are effective on Facebook
landing pages welcoming people to your brand. Tweet the link of your
newest video to your Twitter audience. Video blogs are becoming more and
more popular. The possibilities are endless.
Also underneath videos is an option to create a playlist. If you produce
multiple videos in a series, creating a playlist is a great way to tie them
together.
Similar to buying television time, you can "Promote" your video from the "My
Videos" section under each video. This works like pay-per-click (PPC)
advertising and allows you to buy traffic to your videos based on keywords
that you choose to target. With the right kind of material this can be much
cheaper than television advertising.
10. YouTube Facelift
If you’re a YouTube user you’ve probably
noticed the new layout & design of YouTube
lately. You might be surprised to see how things
have really changed with the look and style of
the new layout. Whether you love it or hate
it, the new YouTube channel design is pretty
easy to navigate and much more organized
with lots more interactivity with other
YouTubers.
If you’re lost with how things go with the new
layout, then let me guide and walk you through
how to use and edit the new 2012 YouTube
channel design.
11. My Channel
1. Log-in to your YouTube account
2. Go to the My Channel tab and you will be taken to the new 2012
channel design interface of YouTube.
3. You will see two tabs “Feed” and “Videos”
The Feed – this is where you will be notified of the latest buzz around
you as well as buzz from your subscribed channels. You call it your
Video News Feeds where you will get updated with everything. In the
Post To Feed box, this is where you will post any latest videos you
have uploaded to YouTube. But YouTube also automatically notifies
your Feed section for every new content posted.
The Videos – this is where you see all your uploaded videos with
thumbnails.
12. Uploaded Videos
4. At the Videos Section, you can see all
your upload videos and you can also
view your playlists (if you have created
one). If you have none yet, then you
may create a playlist or upload video or
record a video from your webcam, remix
creative commons videos or create an
animation or slideshow. You can sort it
either from Most Popular or Date Added
(newest to oldest OR oldest to newest).
Feel free to explore these great options
from YouTube.

18. Interacting With Your Channel
There are so many neglected YouTube
channels, even from social media companies that
you’d think would realize the value in an up-to-date
video resource for their company. While we’re by
no means advocating needlessly creating video
content, if you’re looking to go down the YouTube
route then don’t let your resolve or enthusiasm for
the service dwindle a couple of months in. Even if
you have no new content to post, still keep logging
in to stay on top of comments, friend requests, add
favorites, etc, so as not to relegate your channel to
the ranks of the unloved.
