3. In the beginning of
the book, Elie and his
family lost all of their
valuables. They were
also forced to wear
the yellow stars by
law.
4. Elie and the rest of the neighborhood had to
assemble outside for a couple of days before
they had to leave.
5. Elie and his father
were stripped of
their clothing and
their head was
shaved clean.
6. The dentists at
Auschwitz took out
golden crowns. Elie
got lucky and was
able to keep it for
a longer time until
someone stole it.
7. Elie and the rest of the Jews in his block had to
watch some of the others be hanged. Elie saw a
pipel (sad angel) be hanged.
8. Elie and his father made it through the
many selections that took place. The
unlucky ones were sent to the gas
chambers.
9. Elie’s father suffered through the
death marches. It was quite cold
and the Jews were forced to leave
on a march so the Nazis weren’t
caught in action at the camps.
10. At the end of the book, Elie describes the
bombing and that he and the other
survivors rushed to the kitchens!
