6. Baron Pierre de Coubertin
Baron Pierre de Coubertin was born in Paris France on january 1st 1863
and died on the second of september 1937. He was the president of
the international olympics committee. He started his campeign in 1892.
Not many people thought it was a good idea to start up the modern
olympics but then he convinced enough people.He is responsible for
the start of the olympic games in 1896, Athens Greece. There were 14
countries, 245 men that competed in the olympics.

The five colours on the olympic rings represent the 5 main continents in
the world. Every national flag in the world has got at least one colour
one the rings. The rings colours are red, black, blue, yellow, green.
Olympic rings were designed in 1913 by Baron Pierre de Coubertin.

ceremonies. The opening and closing ceremonies are based on their
origins, the origins go as far back as the ancient olympics.
18. The Mascot
The 2012 olympic mascot is Wenlock and
Mandeville. It was designed by an London
creative agency Iris. In 2008 they advertised a
chance to design the mascot.
