Similar goals in DRM and
modern BPM
DRM BPM
coordination and management of (running) processes
process transparency & process quality
time advantages by process optimization
management of resources, communication & delegation
management of highly dynamic, adaptive processes
BPM & DRM aim at similar goals and

Crucial challenges:
DRP are highly dynamic and subject to a continuous process adaptation!
 Workflow models of DRP can not be specified in advance in detail but
workflow instances must be continuously adapted at run time.

Conclusion & Outlook
Application of DRWfMS might improve transparency of DRP and facilitates process adaptation.
Integrating BPM methods in DRWfMS provides new opportunities for DRP analysis.
Current research:
• Prototypic module of “Interdependency Analyzer“ is in development.
• A first method to identify place-related conflicts and restrictions in DRP is already implemented
Upcoming research:
• Determination of appropriate process adaptations based on identified conflicts.
• Further development of missing DRWfMS modules
• Search for practice partners for evaluation and improvement of DRWfMS
Presented holistic DRWfMS Architecture covers the crucial requirements of DRM.
