Cave crickets. Also called Camel Crickets The like dark, moist places. They are harmless. These photos were taken in Rockcastle County caves.
These photos were taken in Rockcastle County caves. Either a Rafinesque's Big-eared Bat or Virginia Big-eared Bat. Virginia big-eared bats are pale to dark brown on the back and light brown underneath. In contrast, Rafinesque's big-eared bats are gray-brown on the back with whitish underparts.
The bedrock in karst areas is hollow in places.
