"The User Profile Service is a shared service in Microsoft
SharePoint Server 2010 that enables the creation and
management of user profiles that can be accessed from
multiple sites and farms. Administration of User Profile
Service applications is much simpler in SharePoint
Server 2010 and can be delegated to a service application
administrator by the farm administrator."

• Almost Identical to SharePoint 2010 UPS
• Works with other directory services
• Exports to AD (Top request from 2007)
• Flexible Property Mappings
• "Exports" & "Flexible" equals "a little more
complex"

• Active Directory ONLY
• Import ONLY
• Allows Property mapping (no edits, single
mapping)
• Much Faster
• No Farm Account in the Admin Group!
