The 911 FUND is an international nonprofit non-governmental organization dedicated to providing, among other things, fire prevention education and resources around the world. In particular, the 911 FUND has worked extensively to improve first-response efforts in Argentina. In Garín, an economically disadvantaged city of 150,000 residents in the province of Buenos Aires, the 911 FUND has trained thousands of volunteer firefighters from throughout the country who have participated in several large-scale training exercises in firefighter safety, proper equipment use, search and rescue procedures, apparatus familiarization, pre-hospital care, officer development, etc. The 911 FUND's efforts have resulted in dramatically reducing the number of Argentina's fire-related deaths. Over the past decade, the 911 FUND has donated over forty (40) fire trucks to Argentina, concentrating on small communities that have limited emergency response capabilities, at best.
