Columbia Pictures is a subsidiary of Sony Pictures Entertainment. It was
founded in 1919 in which then it was an independent company. In 1989 it
was brought by Sony. It probably financed the majority of The Social
Network. They don’t have their own website, but seeing as they are brought
by Sony it makes sense that the films they produce go on Sony Pictures
website. http://www.sonypictures.co.uk/

Relativity Media is an independent company which also finances film and
makes them. It probably partly financed The Social Network. They have a
website http://www.relativitymediallc.com/default.asp.

Distribution

Because Columbia Pictures is a subsidiary of Sony, they have gone for the obvious way of
using synergy, this saves money and gets the film out to the audience quicker.
• The tagline for the film which was featured on the poster was
“You don’t get to 500 million friends without making a few
enemies”. There was a 2 minute trailer released on July 16
2010, it was shown in cinemas and the internet.
  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lB95KLmpLR4

features interview from the cast and crew, as well as preview
  clips of the film.
