I would like thank my Grandma Dotty Burchfield for always being there, supporting me
through all my decisions. Through the up’s and down’s in my life, you have always been a great
motivator, by listening and supporting my decisions. You did not give up on me, which says
wonders. I know I have made a lot of bad decisions in my life, but you were always there to help
me in the end.
My decisions to finish undergraduate degree in Security Intelligence, and continue
graduate school, and specialize in Chinese language, was because I wanted to make a difference
in our lives, to help strengthen the ties with China. Just maybe one day, I will be able to be like
you and make a huge difference in the world, a huge difference in someone’s life. As Neil
Armstrong once said, “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” Grandma, you
have made a big impact in my life, and I would not be where I am at without you. I love you, and
am forever grateful for having you in my life.

Abstract/摘要
For various reasons, the United States has long been considered the economic center for the
world’s major business groups. Recently however, the US government has been increasingly
worried about Chinese enterprises expanding into the US domestic market, particularly in regards
to electronics and technology companies.
Xiaomi, founded in April 2010, within only 4 years has already become the king od
China’s smartphones and even rank third for global smartphone sales. The current paper
explores the reasons for Xiaomi’s explosion of popularity from six different angles: company
development history, business operations strategy, competitive advantage, competitor analysis,
potential obstacles to development and domestic market prospects. Through this in-depth analysis,
the paper will explore the resistances faced by Xiaomi when entering foreign markets and how
they were able to maintain foreign sales and health development. Finally, it will discuss some of
the valuable lessons that Chinese enterprises expanding abroad and foreign enterprises entering
China can learn from Xiaomi’s success.
基于各种原因,美国长期以来是集中了全球各大企业集团的重要经济中心。最近,美
国政府一直担心新的中国企业拓展美国国内市场,特别是电子和科技企业。
小米公司创立于 2010 年 4 月,短短的四年发展成中国智能手机霸王、全球智能手机
销量排名第三,本论文就小米手机为何在“一夜暴红”的原因,从小米公司创立发展历程、
企业运营策略、竞争优势、竞争对手分析、发展面临的深刻隐忧、国内市场发展前景六个
角度较深入探析,并尝试探析了小米公司走向国外市场的阻力,以为小米公司自身稳定健
康大发展,与中国企业走向国外,国外企业走进中国提供有价值的借鉴。
