NAS of Ukraine National Technical University of Ukraine KPI, Ukraine E-mail: mzz@kpi.ua Lecture overview To collect, curate, preserve and make available ever-increasing amounts of scientific data, new types of infrastructures will be needed. Given talk covers some aspects of developing scientific data infrastructures for solving interdisciplinary problems and recent achievements of Ukrainian scientists in that field.
Energy technology for sustainability SGC-02 12.08-13.08 Tutor Satoshi Konishi Doctor of Engineering, Professor Institute of Advanced Energy, Kyoto University, Japan E-mail:  s-konishi@iae.kyoto-u.ac.jp Course overview The course provides the students from both technology and social science a chance to learn and consider the basic concepts of sustainability, and scientific effort on energy technology toward it.As a whole, students are invited to consider the preferable energy systems for the future.
Assessment of the impact of Naturally Occurring Radioactivity to Natural and Anthropic environments SGC-03 10.08-12.08 Tutor MicheleGuida Ph.D. in physics, professor of experimental physics Faculty of Engineering, University of Salerno, Italy E-mail:   miguida@unisa.it  Course overview The course consists undertaking a “journey” through the basic features of the phenomenon of radioactivity (produced by natural or artificial sources), enabling the students to become enlightened to the concepts of ionizing radiation, dose and exposure, and to become more familiar to the many examples of this phenomenon accompanying humanity since its very early paces on the Earth.
Analytical Methods of Energy Security Costs SGC-04 11.08, 13.08 Tutor Yoshio Matsuki  ScD, professor Institute for Applied System Analysisof NTUU KPI, Ukraine E-mail:   matsukiy@wdc.org.ua Course overview The basic concepts and examples of those energy security costs are lectured during the first one hour; then more basic microeconomics theory follow together with graphical presentations. Next, the results of the case study held in Ukraine are presented.
Nuclear Energy in the 21st century SGC-05 10.08 Tutor Michel ChouhaDoctor of science Institute for Radioprotection and Nuclear Safety (IRSN), France E-mail: michel.chouha@irsn.fr  Lecture overview The lecture first provides an insight into the global energy context and the potential role of nuclear energy in the global energy balance. Then, the students get acquainted with the current status of nuclear power plants in the world, the different types and design characteristics of the most widely used reactors, their control and safety features .
Historical Overview and Recent Results in Doppler-Polarimetric Meteorological Radar SGC-06 09.08 Tutor Felix Yanovsky D.Sc., professor National Aviation University, Institute of aerospace control systems, Ukraine E-mail:    yanovsky@i.com.ua Lecture overview Polarimetric radar can improve forecasts and warnings and reduce the impact of hazardous weather on national and international transportation. The lecture is devoted to the history of discovery, exploration, usage and actual advantages of this tool.
Dielectric Spectroscopy and Dielectric Permittivity Physical Nature SGC-07 09.08 Tutor YuriyPoplavko D.Sc., professor Faculty of Electronics, NTUUKPI, Ukraine E-mail:   poplavko@voliacable.com Lecture overview Dielectric relaxation spectroscopy can provide valuable information on the electrical properties of solid and liquid materials, their structure and molecular stability. Brief review of the method is given in the lecture.
Dynamics of Gambling SGC-08 16.08 Tutor Tomasz Kapitaniak Doctor of physics and mathematics, professor Division of Dynamics, Technical University of Lodz, Poland E-mail:   tomaszka@p.lodz.pl  Lecture overview The lecture not only provides a general analysis of random effects in mechanical (engineering) systems, but addresses questions about the nature of randomness, and gives potentially useful tips for gamblers and the gaming industry.
