3. Sally Flatman
• Sally Flatman has been working in radio for over 20 years
• Starting at Radio Merseyside- in local radio you do
everything!
• Then moved to Manchester to work on daily programmes
for the original Radio 5 which was split between sport and
children.
• In 1990, she came to London to work on a
Johnnie Walker daily programme for Radio 5 and then
moved to Radio 4 to work for the documentaries unit and
was there for over 10 years.
• Children prompted a move to part-time and she's been
working 2 days a week on the Radio 4 Appeal for the past
10 years.
• This small appeal is over 80 years old. Last year the Radio
4 Appeal charities raised in total £800,000. The Radio 4
Christmas Appeal raised £1.5 million....so overall £2,3
million from 2 hours and 36 mins of broadcasting.
