What is Siebel Mobile Connected Applications?
Siebel Mobile connected applications enable you to access Siebel CRM information with your mobile device in real time by
permitting you to access a browser-based version of one of the following Siebel Business Applications on your mobile device:
• Siebel Consumer Goods
• Siebel Sales
• Siebel Service
• Siebel Pharma
The URL address that you use accesses a unique mobile-enabled Siebel Application Object Manager and renders the UI using
jQueryMobile.Siebel Mobile connected applications are ideal for field sales and service representatives whose access is limited
to their tablet or smart phone device while travelling or in the field with a customer. Siebel Mobile connected applications are
designed to maximize the following:
• Usability. Siebel Mobile connected applications are designed for field sales and service users and are optimized to
support frequent tasks in the sales and service cycle.
• Productivity. Siebel Mobile connected applications maximize productivity by enabling you to find the relevant
information easily and to complete important activities quickly.
• Collaboration. Siebel Mobile connected applications enable you to pass contact information to other contacts,
employees, or account team members. Additionally, you can schedule meetings and calls with contacts, employees,
account team members, and even account customers, while you are mobile.

As you all aware that Siebel Open UI can be accessed on any device such as smart phones, iPad, iPhone and tables you might
think what is the necessity of Siebel Mobile Connected Applications.. … Here will explain why it is introduced.
Open UI is designed like the High Interactivity client for use with mouse and keyboard. Because of missing mouse, keyboard and
the small display space on iPhone (smart phones) users will not be happy running the Open UI client. For that reason, Oralce has
introduced Siebel Mobile Connected Applications as part Innovation Pack 2012.
In the below images you can feel the difference of quality accessing Open UI client on smart phone, tablets and desktop.

If you observe above first image Open UI accessed on Desktop/Laptop where the quality of UI is clear, quality is greatly
enhanced.

image, Open UI is accessed on iPad where the quality of UI is reasonably good though navigation on tablet is not
so user friendly.

image, Open UI is accessed on iPhone. As you can see the quality of UI is very poor and it is highly impossibile for
Sales Reps and Field Sales Agents to work on these mobile devices, who needs to access the real –time data with browser
on their mobile devices.

It should be noted that Open UI is not optimized for Gesturing but does take advantage of the native gesturing features in
mobile browsers. Siebel Mobile provides the optimized mobile solution that tightly integrates with mobile device features using
standards.
Installation and Configuration
To deploy Siebel Mobile Connected Applications,
1) Download the Innovation Pack 2012
2) Apply 8.1.1.9 patch on your environment and have quick fixes installed related to Open UI
3) Impor SIFs (OpenUI_Mobile_8119.zip available at ToolsRepatch)
4) Compile & deploy new SRF
5) Enable HandheldSync&HandheldSyncSIS component groups
6) Run new_comdef_sia.bat Gatway:port Enterprise Username Password Lang ( under siebsrvr/bin)
7) Add Virtual Directories for Connected Mobile Applications
Run eappwebconfignew_virdirs.bat Lang
8) Restart Siebel Server & Web Server services
After performing above steps, Login to the Siebel Application as SADMIN and configure the Mobile Objective Manger

Requirements for using Siebel Connected Mobile Applications
1) Mobile device with an internet connection
2) Must have minimum 50 MB of available storage on Mobile
3) Browser on Mobile device must support the following:
HTML5
CSS 2.1 or higher
JavaScript 1.5 or higher
How to login to Siebel Mobile Connected Applications
1) Start the browser on mobile device
2) Enter the URL in the following format
http://webserver/ObjectManager_lang/start.swe
Ex: http://salltp110949/salesm_enu/start.swe
Do not omit start.swebecause the connection to the server might fail.
3) Enter Login credentials
4) Tap Login
