2. Art & Literature During Catherine II’s reign she introduced art and literature into the Russian culture. She decorated the palace in elaborate arts from other countries. As a woman at the throne, people felt that she was overly extravagant with her art and elaborate, along with large number, of gowns she had.

4. Palace Ballroom Catherine II spared no expense in the elaborate décor of the palace. Her tastes filtered into various aspects of Russian culture stirring discontent among peasants and nobility who believed she was far to frivolous when Russia was suffering economic strife.

5. Home for her Collection Catherine II had the Hermitage Museum built for keeping of the arts of which she loved It was connected to her private apartments and often used as a conference room Her love for art brought about the Academy of Arts

8. French Influence A German princess, Catherine II was fascinated with French culture. She repeatedly attempted to link Russian culture with French influences. This may be seen in the architecture and literary works she brought to Russia. She’s also known for allowing the education of noblewomen

9. Catherine II, the woman Catherine II was a well educated and cultured woman of the time. She could be looked upon as a leader in the feminist movement before it occurred.
