UTC McKenzie Arena, Chattanooga, TN
The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® Series is the largest series of 5k run/fitness walks in
the world. You can run or walk the 5k route, with a team or as an individual. All registration fees
include the official Komen Race for the Cure T-shirt and Race bib.
Walk
Register to walk with
us.
Run
Register to run the
Race.
Teams
Register to walk or run by starting a Race team or joining an existing
team.
Fundraise
Take your participation in the Race to the next level. Registration fees get us to the start line,
but your fundraising helps to save lives and fund research. You'll be surprised how easy it is to
start! Fundraise, make a great impact and be rewarded. If every participant in the 2010 race
had raised $100, the Affiliate would have more than $875,000 to provide education, screening
and treatment to those with a breast cancer diagnosis.
Survivors
Whether you register to walk or run, if you indicate that you are a breast cancer survivor during
registration you will receive a pink survivor T-shirt, hat and bib along with your Race T-shirt. Be
sure to take part in our Race Day Survivor Recognition Program generously sponsored by Zeta
Tau Alpha.
Volunteer
Volunteers are an integral part of the Komen Organization. The Race for the Cure would not
be possible without the help of hundreds of committed volunteers. Join an amazing group of
individuals that dedicate their time, talent and energy to our great cause.

Our Promise: To save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring
quality care for all, and energizing science to find the cures.
Will you stand up and support a promise made between two sisters nearly 30 years ago and help
find the cures for breast cancer?
On September 30, 2012, downtown Chattanooga will be awash in pink, and alive with hope and promise
— the Komen promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever!
As a team captain, you play a tremendous role in the success of our Race.
This packet is intended to give you the information you will need to have a fun and successful race. We
have options that will help you encourage the participation of your co-workers, family and friends.
Your team members can elect to be at the Race or decide to Sleep in for the Cure®, run the 5K or stroll in
the one-mile Family Fun Walk. You can chose to wear the Race shirt you will receive with your registration,
or to show your spirit and creativity with a design of your own.
As a Team Captain you are responsible for registering yourself as a participant and your team name
online; recruiting team members and ensuring all registration materials are turned in by the deadline; picking
up and distributing Team packets; and communicating information about the Race to your Team.
We are here to support your efforts. If at any time you have any questions or need more information, you
may e-mail our Development Director, Sheril Miller at smiller@komenchattanooga.org or you may call our
Administrative Office at 423.499.9155.
Thank you for all you do and will do in support of the Komen Chattanooga Race for the
Cure®. It is through efforts such as yours that the Komen Chattanooga Race for the Cure®
has been able to award grants totaling over $3.6 million since its inception to programs
providing breast cancer services in the 16 counties served by the Chattanooga affiliate.
THE RACE CAN'T START WITHOUT YOUR HELP!

13. QUESTIONS
1. My company wants to pay for a limited number of employees
to participate in the race. How do I go about setting up a team
where payment is not required by each individual participant?
Contact our Development Director, Sheril Miller at
smiller@komenchattanooga.org or by phone at 423.499.9155
2. What are the registration fees for team members?
Please see Registration Chart on website or locate the Race
Info Sheet in this packet
3. What if I have difficulty using the online system?
For registration issues, please contact our Registration
Coordinator, Sheril Miller at 423.499.9155
4. What is the minimum/maximum team size?
Teams must have at least ten (10) members, and may have as
large a team as you can manage. The bigger the better!
5. How should teams register?
TEAMS MUST REGISTER ONLINE: It is easier for you, your team
members, and us. Online registration also allows each team
member to establish a personalized online fundraising page,
set a goal, and start helping to end breast cancer forever.
6. Do I need a team password?
No. An optional team password line appears on the online
entry for Can you guarantee my team shirt sizes?
We do our best to order sufficient t-shirts in a variety of sizes,
however, since we must order them weeks prior to race we
have no way of knowing exactly how many participants will
register. Despite our best efforts, sometimes we do run out of
certain sizes. This is one of the reasons we strongly
recommend participation as a team member. The team shirts
are sorted and distributed first.
14. QUESTIONS
7. When and where should I pick up my team packet?
September 23, 2012 at KOMENS ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE
located at 5600 Brainerd Road, Suite B22. (Eastgate Town

8. Are all team members required to participate in the same
event? No, each team member may choose to participate in any of
the four events (Competitive 5K, 5K Walk/Run, 1-Mile, Sleep In)
9. What if I change my mind and decide to walk instead of run?
Once registered, if you change your mind, please contact Sheril
Miller at smiller@komenchattanooga.org Please list your name,
team name, and what category you would like to be registered in.
You and your team members may participate in whichever event
you wish. *Changes cannot be made on Race Day!!!!!
10. Does it matter who gets which race bib?
Yes. Bibs will be labeled by name and show that you have
registered and are permitted to participate in the Race.
Survivors get pink bibs, general participants get white bibs and
chip-timed runners get blue along with their chip timer. If any
of your team members are chip timed they will need their
