2. Sweet Stakes is a confectionery shop that creates and sells gothic-inspired
candies and desserts. Customers of all ages can enjoy this shop as long as
they have a sweet-tooth and maybe even an interest in the Gothic or
Halloween style.
We at Sweet Stakes, like any other confectionery/candy shop, are simply trying
to give our customers delicious treats. However, we are targeting a more
narrow market by making gothic-inspired candies and desserts, which no other
shop has done before (at least that I have not seen).
Potential customers seemed rather interested in the shop, some being all for
the idea while others would simply walk in to at least check it out. Either way,
they all enjoyed the creative twist on an everyday shop.
THE PRODUCT
3. To give a sense of what the website and physical store would look like, I
created a couple of quick mock-up layouts. If I had more time and better
resources, I would change some things, but I worked with what I had available
to me.

I did ask for some help from a friend of mine a couple times, but other than
that I worked alone.
THE “TEAM”
9. My competitors would include many of the big name candy/confectionery
stores, such as Gardner’s Candies.
However, in the niche of Gothic-inspired candies and desserts, there doesn’t
seem to be any competitors.
My market size seems to be about $5.3 billion.

stores, such as Gardner’s Candies. As a small business, this is
problematic, however I would differentiate from the everyday business for my
gothic-inspired style. However, this could pose to be another problem since
Sweet Stakes is niche business.
As a small niche business, Sweet Stakes would most likely be a small town
shop. This way I can hire cheaper labor, but also support said small town.
To find new customers, Sweet Stakes would have to depend not only on
different advertising techniques, but also word of mouth.
