By separating the secure element from the SIM we actually provide the consumers and the issuers with the power. Much like the internet started with power in the hands of the telcos, their inability to innovate gave way to players like google, yahoo, etc. In essence the MNO’s are simply a conduit. By making the solution tied to the UICC and the phone it ties business models and technologies together that don’t necessarily need to. Consider the fact that all handsets/mno combinations will need to be certified regulated etc. by the different applications from a security standpoint. (very similar to why there are only a few Pinpad/atm combinations. This approach may depend on the audience. This concept is a bit controversial for some players, but for the players that want to move and get this rolling they might not only embrace it, but radically support it. Think about our SNCF guy who is tired of the fighting. He just wants a solution he can deploy. It will be a 100 times easier to use our device rather than 4-5 MNO’s and 100+ handsets… This is also a good place to possibly interject examples of how consumers will adopt bigger devices if the value is there. There will be resistance to the size and bulkiness. Smartphones are the best example where consumers opted for value over size. Bring enough value and consumers will put up with a device like MyZtro. Keep in mind they currently carry some 20+ cards that could all go away with our solution…
