The Importance Of Communication In The Basque Culture
The Basque community as a whole are a very close, tight knit family regardless if it means they are
related by blood or not. The Roman Catholic religion populates for about 94% of the Basque country.
Aside from religion, activities outside the home such as sporting events and traditional festivities
throughout the year are ways they define their culture. It is important for them to keep these going
from generation to generation. Every culture has the same framework model, but with differences
depending on location geographically. This paper explores the Basque culture and how their beliefs
and values on children and family affect the way they live. As mentioned in Galanti s text there are
four C s of culture. Each much be communicated properly to the patient in order to receive optimal
health care: first C) What do you call your problem? second C) What do you think caused your
problem? third C) How do you cope with your condition? fourth C) What concerns do you have
regarding the condition? (Galanti 2008).
Communication in the Basque Culture The Basque language is known as Euskara and is spoken
primarily in the northern central area of Spain and is known to be Europe s oldest living languages.
The languages spoken are both Basque and Spanish and both can be very complex with several
different dialects. (Organization for Economic Co operation and Development, 2011). Nonverbal
communication such as kissing on the cheeks and handshaking upon meeting is the norm, as

The Profession Of Social Work
When defining social work, the phrase a helping profession is used quite frequently. The profession is
often misconstrued with promoting the distribution of welfare. Often times, this stereotype amuses me
because social work is remarkably so much more. Not only do people fail to realize that social work is
one of the broadest occupations that offers various work environments, but also they neglect one of
the key goals besides the act of helping: empowerment. Yes, the profession of social work strives to
provide the needy with physical resources to better improve their lives through numerous institutional
and residual programs, yet the most valuable assets a worker can offer are abstract. Social workers are
also supposed to educate people by giving them the skills to sustain themselves in society long after
they have received their services. By empowering and teaching, social workers uplift and provide
opportunity to those who are striving for more.
Whether we know it or not, we all have an engrained sense to help others. For some, it fades as we
grow older, and for others, it only grows stronger. I ve always loved lending a helping hand; I d like to
think I get the trait from my mother. Growing up as a young child, I knew I wanted to help people and
give back when I became an adult. The occupation that would aid in completing my commendable
task changed quite frequently. At one point or another I dreamt of becoming a teacher, interior
decorator, paralegal, and then

Synthesis Essay On Landfill
Trash. It s everywhere, and people just throw everything into one big pile of it at a disgusting landfill.
There is a solution to this problem, recycling. Recycling is the best way to reduce the pollution
associated with incineration, costs of landfills, and also preserve natural resources.
By recycling we can reduce the pollution associated with other methods of traditional garbage
disposals. According to Source 1, Incinerators produce at least 210 different organic chemicals which
are either released into the air or remain in the ash, which is then dumped in landfills. This shows that
incinerating garbage can be harmful to people because the ashes get dumped into landfills where
people work. The ashes can get blown into the wind and carried away to places where people can
breathe it in. Others can argue that recycling causes more pollution. Source 3

Making paper that is using recycled pulp, for instance, is much less energy intensive than using new
wood. While there are benefits to growing trees because of the carbon that they consume, this has to
be offset against the damage that is done to the environment by putting paper in landfills and using
energy to produce new items. (Source 3) This quote explains that by making paper using recycled
products it uses less energy than making paper by newly cut wood. Also it saves new trees from being
cut down. Some might argue that the resources are being resupplied. In Source 1 it quotes, ...this
argument fails to take into account that the high rate of cutting and replanting is turning natural forests
into tree plantations. This tells that the rate of cutting trees is higher than the planting meaning the new
trees barely get time to fully develop before they get cut

My Nurse Monologue
I woke up that morning, the same as any other. Still in that blank old hospital room, the same stiff
hospital bed with the little red button to signal the nurse when I woke up or needed help. I pressed the
button and heard Lilly coming down the quiet hallway. The door creaked open slowly and Lilly
peaked her head in the room, Good Morning Noah. She s always so smiley and sunshiney, she s the
only nurse like that here. Ready to get dressed and get some of that delicious breakfast you love so
much? I sat up and smirked at her cause she knows how much I hate the breakfast here. Grabbing my
glasses off the small cheap bedside table I could see Lilly s smile more clear now. She came by the
bed with my clothes and left the room to get my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I swear, for a 73 year old man you can be such a teenager sometimes, she giggled as we approached
the area which was once closed off by a curtain but now open. Allie was an older woman, not as old as

color to it, her hair cut short probably from the treatments. She lay in with a book in her hands, trying
her hardest to hold it up and even harder to turn a page every so often. She was beautiful. Lilly had left
me out by some of the other wheelchaired patients to go to her desk and fill out paperwork. I wasn t

Heterosexuality In The Dark Knight
The Dark Knight, a fictional film, portrays the havoc that takes place on the citizens of Gotham City
as Batman, also known as Bruce Wayne, tries to fight injustice while moral dilemmas are being
thrown at him. The struggles that he face ties into hegemonic norms, which are the social, cultural,
ideological, or economic influence exerted by a dominant group (Dr. Burke). This includes the Joker s
challenging the hegemony, the heroic face, Batman s heterosexuality and male power identity, and
Rachel Dawes s assisting Bruce s hegemony in anyway that she can. The Dark Knight is not just a tale
of good and evil, but a complex puzzle where the citizens of Gotham are blaming Batman for the
deaths of innocent people and policemen. While the Joker, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

With every challenge he faces, he demonstratively consolidates his superiority while wearing his
costume, denoting his personal sharpness and aggressiveness. Batman s identity is so tied with male
and heterosexual hegemony that any threat to it feels like an attack. This relationship is identified
when Batman lost his own parents from a homicidal maniac who was a threat to social order. This
explains why Batman reasserts his authority by beating the Joker, a character who seemingly has a
feminine mind and a male body that could be interpreted as a reminder to Batman of the action
performed by his father. Batman s continual beating of the Joker demonstrates strength, which
illustrates the dominance of the male and heterosexual hegemony in the society according to the
patriarchal guidelines. Batman wants to undertake the Joker in order to prove his physical strength to
get the Joker into submission. Batman tries to make his male and heterosexuality gender norms into
reality, thus justifying his existence (Peaslee, 140). This assists him in making his normative male and
heterosexuality into a powerful patriarchal hegemony that allows him to exceed his

Profit And Non Profit Organizations
Profit and Non profit organizations make up the core of American business culture and charitable
services. Nonprofits organizations like The American Kidney depend on donations and grants from
individuals, government supplements, and corporations. For profit organizations like The Dallas
Opera depends on revenue from sales and contributions to meet the needs of their mission. While both
The American Kidney Fund and The Dallas Opera have different corporate cultures that require
support from outside sources, they each must display ethical values to support the financial needs of
the institution; and to the recipients of services provided. In this, both companies set a mission and
company profile to display to illustrate why their organizations are worthy of financial support and
outreach from the community.
The American Kidney Fund (AKF) was founded in 1971, to help any single individual with kidney
failure pay for dialysis. More than 40 years later, AKF has become the leading source of direct
financial aid to dialysis patients across the nation. The American Kidney Fund leads the nation in
providing charitable assistance to dialysis patients who need help with the costs associated with
treating kidney failure. The American Kidney Fund (AKF) is a major publicly supported 501(c)(3)
non profit organization. AKF is provides treatment related financial assistance to dialysis patients and
for kidney disease education and prevention programs. AKF provides grants that

Sharon M. Draper s November Blues
The book I read this summer and one of my all time favorite novels is November Blues. The book is
the second part of the Jericho series. It was written by a phenomenal author Sharon M. Draper.
November Blues follows two characters. November Nelson is a 16 year old girl who finds out she is
pregnant by her late boyfriend who recently passed away in a hazing accident. Jericho Prescott, a 16
year old boy, who is depressed because he just lost his cousin who was like a brother to him in the

Analysis Of Mark Twain s A Connecticut Yankee
How to train your human In 1889 Mark Twain s publishes A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur s
Court, which is consider the first science fiction novel. Like most science fiction stories, there is time
travel and futuristic technology messing with the past. Hank Morgan is sent into the past after getting
knocked unconscious by a man named Hercules with a crowbar. After realizing that he is in the past,
he uses his knowledge of an impending solar eclipse to trick the masses into making him the second
most powerful man in society. Being an educated 19th century American gentleman, Hank believes it
is up to him to make Arthurian England more like 19th century American. He tries to change the
beliefs of the people and introduces 19th century technology. In the end, Hank fails in his quest to
completely change everything about Arthurian England. Mark Twain s usage of humor combined with
Hank s attempts to change Arthurian technology, religious beliefs and social structure, exemplifies that
human s beliefs are trained into them, which ultimately demonstrates that society can not change
without the training of a new generation.
Humor is used in order to conceal the weakness in superstitious beliefs. Like many satires, A
Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur s Court does not blatantly announce its theme. Twain uses humor
[to] disarm the reader, but if the reader is careful they can see the darker sides of the humor (Berkove
243). The main catalyst for humors is the famous magician

the opposite of female solidarity.
The relationships between the main characters and their mothers play an important component in these
works. All three women, Maggie, Roberta and Twyla, do not receive any maternal support. There are
different reasons for the lack of support. Twyla s mother is mentally unfit to fill her role as mother

Executioners Way Short Story
Executioners Way was not far from Alistair s shop and they arrived at the hut in question just as the
last rays of the sun left the sky and night proper began. It was a large two story house with bamboo
walls and a palm frond roof. No light shone through and of the windows and the place looked
completely abandoned. As they approached the front door they found it shut tight and locked.
Belgarion squatted in front of the lock and, producing a small tool set, attempted to pick the lock.
Unfortunately, with night close all around them, and the heat of the jungle making absolutely
everything slick with moisture, he simply could not flip the clasp. While Belgarion silently cursed at
the stubborn lock, Lucia went around back of the hut to search for another entrance. It was there she
came upon a hidden cellar door, free of any lock or bolt. Calling out to her companions, they

Summary Of Ernest Hemingway sBig Two Hearted River Part 1
Response 1 Ernest Hemingway s Big Two Hearted River Part 1 appears as simple tale of a man going
camping. It talks about his journey through a burnt area of land. He ultimately sets up camp, has some
fond memories of a friend, and then he goes to sleep. However the story, in my opinion, has a much
deeper meaning. Everything that happens in the story has a reason behind it being mentioned.
Hemingway, I believe, shows Nick s growth through analogies that often fly over the reader s head,
including the transition from the burnt town to the river, the river conditions, and the trouts movement
in the river and the sooty appearance of the grasshoppers. Hemingway sets the location for the story as
soon as Nick gets off the train There was no town, nothing but the rails and the burned over country.
The thirteen saloons that had lined the one street of Seney had not left a trace ( 133). A town that was
once booming with people had been burnt down. Why did Hemingway point out the destroyed town?
It would appear that the focal point would be the town, but Hemingway quickly transitions into Nick
going to a river. As the story says, Nick looked at the burned over stretch of hillside, where he had
expected to find the scattered houses of the town and then walked down the railroad track to the
bridge over the river. The river was there (133). He sets the reader up by talking about a once great
town now being burnt to a crisp. The idea here is to have the reader thinking man, all these people
have lost their home. Despite this, it is clear that the town being burnt down is not the most important
thing. Hemingway could have easily told a story about the town; instead he quickly moved onto the
river. The river is a very important and recurring piece of the story. When Hemingway says, Nick
looked down into the clear, brown water, colored from the pebbly bottom (133), Notice how he talks
about water being brown colored from the pebbles. It s clear that the water has changed due to the fire.
Despite the changes, the fish were still doing just fine. Hemingway seems to drive home this point as
he mentions, It was a long long time since Nick had looked into a stream and seen trout. They were
very satisfactory.

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Rubio s Name-Calling
Marco Rubio is a Florida senator who is running for president in the 2016 election . He believes that
women do not deserve equal pay, that the US must not help people to get out of debt, and that gay
rights should be revoked. Now gay rights , as they are referred to, are actually rights for the LGBT
community. LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, so gay rights actually cover a lot
more individuals. These rights are just basic human rights for people who identify with the LGBT
community, just an example of the rights, the right to marry, the right to shop where they want, the
right to be treated respectfully at a job, and etc. And even though these are just basic human rights
people still fight against them, leaving the LGBT community to fight back. The ... Show more content

readers to dislike him. This is done through the use of extreme diction, highlighting contradictory
statements, and by directly addressing his rebuttals to Rubio s claims. To begin, Ford uses a very
extreme sense of diction to unveil Rubio curtain of deception. Ford uses no passive words when

The Virtual Disappearance Of Miriam
The Virtual Disappearance of Miriam is a piece of hypertext fiction, composed of multiple blocks of
text known as lexia. The Virtual Disappearance of Miriam is a story driven narrative whose primary
focus is the main protagonist s attempts to, and consequent failures at, controlling of the digital world
beyond the computer screen. Accordingly, the lexia are presented in a linear manner, and the path the
reader chooses is largely dependent upon top down interaction. Martyn Bedford uses axial textual
architecture to convey the dominating nature of the text, which, even when presenting the reader with
a choice, tries to maintain tight control over his/her progress through the narrative. The discursive

My First Visit at the Hindu Temple Essay
I decided to visit a Hindu temple because the Hindu religion was the religion that I knew the least
about and was interested in. This assignment gave me an opportunity to learn more about this religion
and what their worship services and rituals were like. The temple that I went to was called BAPS Shri
Swaminaryan Mandir and it was located in Lilburn. As soon as I walked in, I was amazed by the
beautiful architectural design of this Temple. It seemed like it took a lot of hard work and dedication
to make the place what it is now. While I was at the temple, I watched the Hindus perform an ancient
Vedic ritual called the Abhishek, a ritual bathing to honor the murti of their God.

The Mandir (temple) was constructed with Italian marble, Indian pink sandstone, and Turkish
limestone. The walls were all carved with delicate carvings of Gods that were carefully shipped all the
way from India. The Hindus had very strict rules that had to be followed, such as: no smoking,
drinking or eating inside, cell phones had to be turned off, and we had to be silent. We also had to take
our shoes off before entering the temple out of respect for the deities and to keep the floors clean.
When I first entered the main worship room, I saw three women walking around the gods in clockwise
motion. This clockwise motion is called Pradakshina, a form of worship that represents the fact that
god is the center of everything and everyone else surrounds him. There were several gods in the room,
each stored in their own window. Many people ranging from old to young kept going up to each god
and doing their own prayers. I observed that the prayers were performed in a special way. You had to
put your two hands together, close your eyes and pray to that specific God. I couldn t understand the
prayers they were reciting because they were saying it in language.
BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir offers many traditional rituals and services. However, I decided to
observe Abhishek, an ancient Vedic ritual of bathing the murti, which is the divine spirit of God. This
ritual is dedicated to the murti Nilkanth Varni, which represents Bhagwan Swaminarayan

Some say they see poetry in my paintings; I see only science.
Georges Seurat
Before the development of digital cameras even well known artists used pixels to create some of
todays famous works of art. The relation between digital pixels and the artistic style of pointillism is
almost self explanatory, both use small dots of colour to create larger pieces of art. The painting style
of pointillism can be explained by using dots of pure colour close together in a pattern to create a full
image using optical blending. For example by painting a red and blue dot close together and having
the viewer farther away their eyes will blend the two separate colours as violet rather than the
individual red and blue. Pointillism, otherwise known as neo impressionism ... Show more content on

Gary Soto La Bamba Theme
Getting laughed at or making a fool of yourself is something every person tries to avoid. Whether it s

everything to turn out perfect. In Manuels case, he wants to step out of his comfort zone, yet his idea

Letter From Birmingham Jail
In Letter from Birmingham Jail, Martin Luther King, Jr. refutes the condemnatory claims made by
eight white Alabama clergymen. By appealing to ethos, logos, and pathos King argues that he is not an
outsider and that the experience of African Americans in segregated Birmingham warrants well
intentioned demonstration and civil disobedience. In doing so, he calls attention to the clergymen s
hypocrisy and firmly garners their respect and understanding. Martin Luther King gains the clergymen
s trust and belief by establishing his moral character through ethos. King first accomplishes this by
employing a tone of respect. He addresses the clergymen in the beginning paragraph as men of
genuine good will whose criticisms are sincerely set forth (6 7). This makes the clergymen feel that
their integrity and their concerns are heavily valued. When King later denounces their beliefs and
actions, they are more likely to accept it as King s effort to achieve understanding between the two
groups rather than an attack on their personal characteristics. A reverent tone is further built with King
s choice to refer to the clergymen as sirs (121), my Christian and Jewish brothers (175), and other
honorifics throughout the letter. Even as his frustration escalates, using these titles compel the white
clergymen to continue reading the arguments, believing the writer because the writer believes in their
morality. Another major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

density. Another objective was to identify the metals used in our experiments. We used a variety of
different metals to test their correlation and to find out if it was negative or positive. I did not expect to
learn much from this experiment as we had already discussed density in class and learned that water
displacement is basically volume so as it increased the density would have decreased had we used
metals of the same mass. I will share my newfound knowledge through this paper and I will discuss
my finding with my peers and other people who enjoy chemistry. We have been discussing both water
displacement and density in class; I assume the relevancy of this lab was to help people who learn
better kinesthetically a chance to learn the material in a way they learn best.
Background Information Density is the amount of matter per unit of measurement (Merriam Webster.
Merriam Webster, n.d. Web. 26 Aug. 2016.). If water has a density of 1.0 g/mL and you place a
substance with a density of 1.8 g/mL the substance will sink because it is denser than water. Density is
often measured in g/cm^3 or g/mL because the formula for density is D=m/v.
Hypothesis and Variables If the water displacement increases, then the density will decrease because
the mass will be divided by a higher volume causing a lower density. The independent variable is the
water displacement and the dependent

Speech On Bottled Water
Known for all of its health advantages and thoroughly no side effects, bottle water is distinctively the
better option. Bottle water has more suitable records than tap water, nearly 77 million Americans lived
in areas where the water systems were in violation of safety orders. Bottled water is also very much
needed for natural disasters. Bottled water is also convenient. Bottled water is also safe to drink To
begin bottled water came in very helpful for this month, there was a hurricane that hit named Matthew
and thousands of people were without power for about a week. All of the food people had, had to be
thrown away if they didn t have a generator. The water from the fridge was not able to work, and
running faucet water was out. The supplies for bottled water was very source thousands of people
stocked up and was able to drink the bottled water for days. When people heard there was a hurricane
coming they immediately ran to the store to get water. Water is very important, especially at those
times. Walmart had 800 trucks come in just with water and was sold out immediately.
www.thestreet.com/hurricaneirma . To continue bottled water is very convenient at times. It can be
carried wherever you go, and is portable you can fit it in your backpack or car really anywhere! It can
be rude when there is a class going on and someone gets up in the middle of a lecture to go get a drink
of water, then the whole entire class just got distracted by the action of getting up to get

Living With Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder
I. Introduction Living with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder is one of the hardest challenges I
have ever faced. Having been diagnosed at the age of seven, it is the most prevalent thing in my life.
ADHD is the most commonly diagnosed psychological disorder in the United States (Hughes). It is a
persistent disorder, often prevalent through adolescence and adulthood. Most individuals diagnosed
are between the ages of seven and nine, although there have been numerous cases where individuals
have been diagnosed in their later years. Case studies show that males are four times more likely to be
diagnosed/affected with ADHD, and lately, studies have shown an unexplained increase in the number
of diagnoses made in children. It has been recognized that in the past, people have scoffed at the
diagnosis of ADHD, and even disregarding and bashing the disorder, calling it things like, a real
medical hoax (Citation). These individuals, however, are severely misguided, seeing as though ADHD
is a real disorder, and it affects millions of people worldwide in present day. There have been
neurological studies studying and showing that ADHD is, in fact, neurologically related, and it is most
likely caused by chemical imbalances in individual s brains (Citation). One greatly debated question in
the world of Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder is, Can an individual that was diagnosed with
ADHD eventually outgrow it? One side of this argument states that an individual that has been

Methadone Case Study
Methadone is a commonly used opioid to relieve pain in both veterinary and human medicine. To help
develop appropriate pain management practices and to develop a quantitative model for predicting
methadone dosimetry in plasma and specific tissues, a flow limited multi route physiologically based
pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model for methadone in dogs constructed with Berkeley MadonnaTM was
developed, specifically examining the Beagle and Greyhound breeds. The model accounts for
intravenous (IV), subcutaneous (SC), and oral administrations, and compartmentalizes the body into
components of venous blood, arterial blood, muscle, lung, brain, heart, liver, GI tract, kidney, and rest
of body. This model was calibrated from plasma pharmacokinetic data

The Impact Human have on Our Planet
Many people today assume mistakenly that the Earth is so big that we humans cannot possibly have
any major impact on the way our planet s ecological system operates (Al Gore in An Inconvenient
Truth, by Al Gore). Former Vice President Al Gore made a documentary movie called, An
Inconvenient Truth. He talks about how global warming is affecting our way of life and how it is
affecting the Earth. He mentions facts about the misconceptions that surround global warming, which
is very surprising to see and hear that our Earth is being affected by the things we do in our every day
lives. With the facts from the movie and what we have learned in class about the climate changes, I
believe that in time it will affect our life, if we do not change it now. In the movie, An Inconvenient
Truth, presented by former Vice President Al Gore who has traveled around the world talking about
global warming and its affects that it is having on our planet. He talks to large amounts of people, and
in the background he has satellite pictures, scientific models, graphs, and other images while he talks.
Even though the subject about global warming has been a debate for years, he strongly believes that it
is happening now. Scientists believe, that when people use vehicles, factories, and greenhouse gases
that give off carbon dioxide, is the reason why temperature increases in the atmosphere. He showed a
similar increase in the Earth s temperature, by showing pictures of melting glaciers and ice

All Angels Must Fall Essay
Eve Elizabeth Jane was an ordinary 6 year old girl. She was sweet, kind and angelic, and today was
her birthday, Friday October 13, 1995. Eve has just come from her party. She ran upstairs into her
room and found a doll on her bed. It was the spitting image of her, golden curls, big bright blue eyes,
wearing a pink satin dress with ruffles and bows. She played with the doll, brushing her hair and
telling her stories. She was so intrigued by the doll and occupied by playing with her that she didn t
notice the storm approaching. Clouds had gathered and the fog settled with soft rain beating against
the windows. Then came a noise. It wasn t thunder and it wasn t the rain, it sounded like scratching at
the foot of her bed. Mister Whiskers, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

wiped the tears from her eyes and got ready for bed. When returning to her room Emily was sitting on
her bed, Emily! She jumped onto her bed and hugged her doll, who was wearing the same exact
nightgown. She laid her head on her pillow and drifted away. Few hours later she was awakened by
the scratching. She hugged Emily tight and pulled the covers over herself. No such things as monsters!
She repeated. The covers slowly started to slide of and at the foot of her bed she saw black finger nails
pulling on the covers and a shadowy figure creeping up. Mama... She whispered. The figure snarled
and it s pointed white teeth shown causing Eve to scream. The scream echoed throughout the house
waking up Mama sending her rushing into Eve s room. Eve! She screamed. Eve wasn t in the room,
she scanted the room and when lifting the cover off the ground she found a little doll that looked
exactly like Eve. Behind her in the door Eve stood with her arm behind her back. Hello Mama. Her
mother slowly turned. Eve, who gave you this doll? It was the man Mama, the man with the yellow

Comparing My Papa s Waltz And Porphyria s Lover
The poems that I chose to compare are My Papa s Waltz and Porphyria s Lover, both of which use a
dark tone and end rhyme to tell a story of painful love through symbolism. My Papa s Waltz, written
by Theodore Roethke in 1942, tells of a relationship between an alcoholic father who abuses his son.
In Porphyria s Lover, written much earlier in 1836, Robert Browning describes a chilling tale of a
madman who murder s the woman he loves the most. Both poems have the same theme of love with
an underlying dark emotion First of all, these poems can be categorized together due to their similar
structure. Both My Papa s Waltz and Porphyria s Lover use end rhyme. Take the first stanza, for
example, of My Papa s Waltz : The Whiskey on your breath/ Could make a small boy dizzy; / But I
hung on like death: / Such waltzing was not easy (1 4). This rhyme can be identified in ABAB format
in the last words of each line; breath rhymes with death and dizzy with easy . This pattern continues
throughout. The pattern used in Porphyria s Lover is somewhat different, however, Browning uses end
rhyme as well. Lines 1 5 are written in ABABB, lines 6 10 in CDCDD, and so on. This odd pattern is
used in order to convey the Speaker s madness. The end rhyme can be identified from the first stanza:
The Rain set in early to night, / The sullen wind was soon awake, / It torn the elm tops down for spite,
/ And did its worst to vex the lake (1 4). Here we can see end rhyme through

Free Radicals And Oxidative Stress
Nowadays, oxidative stress is the major risk factor for several health complications. Free radicals are
the normal byproduct of cellular metabolism that leads to oxidative stress, resulting in damage to
nucleic acids, lipids and proteins, and is an underlying cause of various diseases in the human system,
including cancer, cardiovascular diseases, inflammatory conditions, diabetic complications, Alzheimer
s disease and ageing [4 8].
Free radicals promote tumor growth by activating certain signal transduction pathways that induce the
transcription of c fos, c jun and c myc, the proto oncogenes that stimulate tumor development [1, 2].
Excessive free radicals produced during cellular metabolism can attack the deoxyribose DNA
backbone and bases, which causes mutation and in turn leads to cancer. ... Show more content on

them have been shown to possess potent scavenging ability than the natural antioxidants

Technology In The Veldt And Marionettes
We live in a world where technology has impacted our daily lives and how we communicate with
friends and families around the world. Technology is improving and changing how we live our lives.!
In the short stories The Veldt, and Marionettes,. Inc, and in our everyday lives, I came to believe that
technology has a dangerous impact on our overall life. This is because in The Veldt, technology made
the house more of a mother, and in Marionettes,. Inc, technology took over his life and in our
everyday lives, we are consumed by what s on our screens.
In the short story, The Veldt , we come to believe that the main characters lives are all consumed by
technology because the house does everything. The impact of technology on the kid s lives began to
change how the kids looked towards their parents and what they meant to them. As I read the short

Muir and Wordsworth Essay
Lesson 06.09 Assessment
Thesis Statement, Opening Paragraph, evidence conclusion REVISED
While both poets Muir and Wordsworth wrote about the happy feelings that they have towards nature
the beautiful outdoors or what some people may say Mother Nature, some of which the feelings are
the same and some that are different as they speak of the different plants.
In every walk with Nature one receives far more than he seeks. John Muir Nature does not only show
the beauty of the Earth, but it shows the beauty within us. So then, is it not easy to say that both of
these authors have great beauty within them? After reading both Calypso Borealis, John Muir and I

Muir creatively informs the reader just how much the main character truly loves nature. The same
marvel and beauty is shared in the poem I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud. After a long climb over a high
hill he finds his reward a valley shining with a huge field of daffodils. Besides the lakes, beneath the
trees, fluttering and dancing in the breeze. As Wordsworth explains the scene. As each scene pops out
of the poem, a new addition to the painting in your mind appears each time. The painting may vary
from person to person, but I believe the same sense of awe is present with every mind. The portions
cited are just the beginning of these two works; enough to splash your mind with colors and emotions,
but later parts are what truly makes them worth reading.
Calypso Borealis turns from revelation to a desperate situation. Weary and empty, the main character
prepares to spend the night in the wet swamp, in a tree nest. Just as the sun was about to set, the future
very unpredictable, when Everything seemed most dangerous and discouraging , the story continues, I
found beautiful Calypso on the mossy bank of stream. Overwhelmed by the purity and beauty of the
Calypso, he collapses by the flower and cries. This rather quick change of pace I what kept me
reading, and the fact the Calypso was so beautiful it made the main character break down in tears.
Imagine finding the glorious treasure you ve been seeking the entire time. The change of tone from

Theories Of The Id, Ego, And Superego
Marcuse develops the aesthetic principle based on modification of Freudian theories of the Id, ego,
and superego.in Freud s writings the id is behavior stem from libido energy, is what gives us pleasure.
The ego is the part of the psyche that represents and regulates reality. The ego strives for what is
useful and what can be obtained without damage to itself and to its vital environment. Under the
reality principle, the human being develops the function of reason: it learns to test the reality, to
distinguish between good and bad, true and false, useful and harmful (Marcuse). The ego is essentially
what has allowed us to stay alive or not burn our hand with the pretty campfire a second time. The
superego is our moral compass that has been thought to us since the day we were born; it is simply the
rules and ethical norms of the society we live in. Although Marcuse does develop some of his theory
on Freud s theories he rejects Freud s ahistorical approach and chooses to politicize Freud s primarily
psychological theories.
Marcuse s aesthetic principle is an extension of the id, while the performance principle is an extension
of to the ego. The aesthetic principle is a system where society encourages people to live in a way that
will give them true joy or happiness. According to Marcuse if society transforms from to aesthetic
based society it will eventually lead to the dissolvent of systems where a few powerful elites have total
control.
Marcuse discusses how the

Crime Entertainment Satire
Let s say you went to your local bank to despot some checks and out of the corner of your eye you
notice a group of men storm into the bank like a bat out of hell, armed with assault rifles and wearing
ski masks. With a rifle muzzle shoved in your face you are at the mercy of their every command.
Would the first thought that crosses your mind be, This is the coolest thing ever! or would you be
scared shitless? My assumption would be the second one. With that being said, why is our society so
attracted to these aspects of crime portrayed in entertainment but we would do everything to avoid it
all cost in real life? Does America s love for crime, whether on the television or in the movies, secretly
revel our own desires to live the dangerous and exciting lives of the criminals, police officers, and FBI
agents we marvel at every night? As humans we aren t all sociopaths but watching other people rolling
the dice with their lives is fascinating, and somewhat rewarding.

Their Eye s Were Watching God- Janie s Self Realization
Janie s Self Realization: Facts and Disputes Janie, in Their Eyes were Watching God by Zora Neale
Hurston, was a unique individual; as a half white, half black girl growing up in Florida in the early
1930 s, a lifetime of trials and search for understanding was set for her from the start. As the main
character she sought to finally find herself, true love, and have a meaningful life. Growing up, in
itself, provides a perfect opportunity for finding that essential state of self realization and ideal
comfort. Michael G. Cooke reviews Their Eyes Were Watching God in his article The Beginnings of
Self Realization ; within the article it is falsely criticized that every time Janie is negatively impacted
she grows to become more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jody told her to dress up and stand in the store all that evening (Hurston 58). That must ve been Jody
Starks most said command to Janie throughout her marriage. He only used her because she was so
pretty, and didn t want much more. Being proud of Janie as his wife, the mayor s pretty wife, he
himself built the image for Janie as trophy wife . Becoming an image herself looking in the mirror was
an obvious and physical change seen in the story. Ah ain t been sleepin so good for more n uh week
cause Ah been wishin so bad tuh git mah hands in yo hair. It s so pretty (Hurston 124). Letting loose
her hair and Tea Cake telling her how pretty she was marked a new beginning for her and a time for a
new image. Seeing herself in a new way, the mirror and Tea Cake helped her realize that she is a
beautiful woman and she can be much better if she tried. Mirrors are always used to analyze oneself to
be pleased, or to be displeased so you can adjust. In Janie s case however, she was surprised to see
herself again and approved of her new, yet not so new self. Representing many ideas and being that
image looked upon, it s clear to say that Janie indeed has been attached herself to images as well as
becoming one herself. The imagery shown throughout the book was physically and figuratively there
with the photograph, idea of a trophy wife, and the mirror. The development of the images throughout
the story helped show Janie s progression. Being

Taking a Look at Niemann-Pick Disease
Niemann Pick disease an inherited condition involving lipid metabolism, which is the breakdown,
transport, and use of fats and cholesterol in the body is the condition in which abnormal lipid
metabolism causes harmful amounts of lipid to accumulate in parts of the body. There are 3 forms of
this disease: Type A, B, and C. The general focus of this paper will be Type C. Niemann Pick s disease
Type C (NPC) is disease in which unesterified cholesterol and other lipids accumulate in late
endosomes/lysosomes (LE/L) of all cells and tissues. Resulting in excessive amounts of cholesterol
accumulation within the liver and spleen and excessive amounts of other lipids accumulating in the
brain. The cause of NPC is quite distinct from A B whose patients have defects in their lysosomal acid
sphingomyelinase gene (3). On the contrary, NPC is a recessive, autosomal disorder that affects
around 1 in 150,000 births and causes premature death due to relentless neurodegeneration as well as
lung and liver dysfunction (4,5). NPC can further be divided into two subgroups known as C1 and C2,
which are each, caused by a different gene mutation. One of the many interesting features of this
disease is that symptoms may appear as early as childhood or as late as adulthood. The symptoms that
follow this disease are the inability to move ones eyes up and down, enlarged liver, enlarged spleen, or
jaundice in young children. But it is common for only one or two symptoms to appear in the early

  • 2. The Importance Of Communication In The Basque Culture The Basque community as a whole are a very close, tight knit family regardless if it means they are related by blood or not. The Roman Catholic religion populates for about 94% of the Basque country. Aside from religion, activities outside the home such as sporting events and traditional festivities throughout the year are ways they define their culture. It is important for them to keep these going from generation to generation. Every culture has the same framework model, but with differences depending on location geographically. This paper explores the Basque culture and how their beliefs and values on children and family affect the way they live. As mentioned in Galanti s text there are four C s of culture. Each much be communicated properly to the patient in order to receive optimal health care: first C) What do you call your problem? second C) What do you think caused your problem? third C) How do you cope with your condition? fourth C) What concerns do you have regarding the condition? (Galanti 2008). Communication in the Basque Culture The Basque language is known as Euskara and is spoken primarily in the northern central area of Spain and is known to be Europe s oldest living languages. The languages spoken are both Basque and Spanish and both can be very complex with several different dialects. (Organization for Economic Co operation and Development, 2011). • 3. The Profession Of Social Work When defining social work, the phrase a helping profession is used quite frequently. The profession is often misconstrued with promoting the distribution of welfare. Often times, this stereotype amuses me because social work is remarkably so much more. Not only do people fail to realize that social work is one of the broadest occupations that offers various work environments, but also they neglect one of the key goals besides the act of helping: empowerment. Yes, the profession of social work strives to provide the needy with physical resources to better improve their lives through numerous institutional and residual programs, yet the most valuable assets a worker can offer are abstract. Social workers are also supposed to educate people by giving them the skills to sustain themselves in society long after they have received their services. By empowering and teaching, social workers uplift and provide opportunity to those who are striving for more. Whether we know it or not, we all have an engrained sense to help others. For some, it fades as we grow older, and for others, it only grows stronger. I ve always loved lending a helping hand; I d like to think I get the trait from my mother. Growing up as a young child, I knew I wanted to help people and give back when I became an adult. The occupation that would aid in completing my commendable task changed quite frequently. At one point or another I dreamt of becoming a teacher, interior decorator, paralegal, and then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Synthesis Essay On Landfill Trash. It s everywhere, and people just throw everything into one big pile of it at a disgusting landfill. There is a solution to this problem, recycling. Recycling is the best way to reduce the pollution associated with incineration, costs of landfills, and also preserve natural resources. By recycling we can reduce the pollution associated with other methods of traditional garbage disposals. According to Source 1, Incinerators produce at least 210 different organic chemicals which are either released into the air or remain in the ash, which is then dumped in landfills. This shows that incinerating garbage can be harmful to people because the ashes get dumped into landfills where people work. The ashes can get blown into the wind and carried away to places where people can breathe it in. Others can argue that recycling causes more pollution. While there are benefits to growing trees because of the carbon that they consume, this has to be offset against the damage that is done to the environment by putting paper in landfills and using energy to produce new items. (Source 3) This quote explains that by making paper using recycled products it uses less energy than making paper by newly cut wood. Also it saves new trees from being cut down. Some might argue that the resources are being resupplied. In Source 1 it quotes, ...this argument fails to take into account that the high rate of cutting and replanting is turning natural forests into tree plantations. Still in that blank old hospital room, the same stiff hospital bed with the little red button to signal the nurse when I woke up or needed help. • 6. Heterosexuality In The Dark Knight The Dark Knight, a fictional film, portrays the havoc that takes place on the citizens of Gotham City as Batman, also known as Bruce Wayne, tries to fight injustice while moral dilemmas are being thrown at him. The struggles that he face ties into hegemonic norms, which are the social, cultural, ideological, or economic influence exerted by a dominant group (Dr. Burke). This includes the Joker s challenging the hegemony, the heroic face, Batman s heterosexuality and male power identity, and Rachel Dawes s assisting Bruce s hegemony in anyway that she can. The Dark Knight is not just a tale of good and evil, but a complex puzzle where the citizens of Gotham are blaming Batman for the deaths of innocent people and policemen. While the Joker, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With every challenge he faces, he demonstratively consolidates his superiority while wearing his costume, denoting his personal sharpness and aggressiveness. Batman s identity is so tied with male and heterosexual hegemony that any threat to it feels like an attack. This relationship is identified when Batman lost his own parents from a homicidal maniac who was a threat to social order. This explains why Batman reasserts his authority by beating the Joker, a character who seemingly has a feminine mind and a male body that could be interpreted as a reminder to Batman of the action performed by his father. Batman s continual beating of the Joker demonstrates strength, which illustrates the dominance of the male and heterosexual hegemony in the society according to the patriarchal guidelines. Batman wants to undertake the Joker in order to prove his physical strength to get the Joker into submission. Batman tries to make his male and heterosexuality gender norms into reality, thus justifying his existence (Peaslee, 140). This assists him in making his normative male and heterosexuality into a powerful patriarchal hegemony that allows him to exceed his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nonprofits organizations like The American Kidney depend on donations and grants from individuals, government supplements, and corporations. For profit organizations like The Dallas Opera depends on revenue from sales and contributions to meet the needs of their mission. While both The American Kidney Fund and The Dallas Opera have different corporate cultures that require support from outside sources, they each must display ethical values to support the financial needs of the institution; and to the recipients of services provided. In this, both companies set a mission and company profile to display to illustrate why their organizations are worthy of financial support and outreach from the community. The American Kidney Fund (AKF) was founded in 1971, to help any single individual with kidney failure pay for dialysis. More than 40 years later, AKF has become the leading source of direct financial aid to dialysis patients across the nation. • 11. Analysis Of Mark Twain s A Connecticut Yankee How to train your human In 1889 Mark Twain s publishes A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur s Court, which is consider the first science fiction novel. Like most science fiction stories, there is time travel and futuristic technology messing with the past. Hank Morgan is sent into the past after getting knocked unconscious by a man named Hercules with a crowbar. After realizing that he is in the past, he uses his knowledge of an impending solar eclipse to trick the masses into making him the second most powerful man in society. Being an educated 19th century American gentleman, Hank believes it is up to him to make Arthurian England more like 19th century American. He tries to change the beliefs of the people and introduces 19th century technology. In the end, Hank fails in his quest to completely change everything about Arthurian England. Mark Twain s usage of humor combined with Hank s attempts to change Arthurian technology, religious beliefs and social structure, exemplifies that human s beliefs are trained into them, which ultimately demonstrates that society can not change without the training of a new generation. Humor is used in order to conceal the weakness in superstitious beliefs. Like many satires, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur s Court does not blatantly announce its theme. Twain uses humor [to] disarm the reader, but if the reader is careful they can see the darker sides of the humor (Berkove 243). The main catalyst for humors is the famous magician ... • 13. Executioners Way Short Story Executioners Way was not far from Alistair s shop and they arrived at the hut in question just as the last rays of the sun left the sky and night proper began. It was a large two story house with bamboo walls and a palm frond roof. No light shone through and of the windows and the place looked completely abandoned. As they approached the front door they found it shut tight and locked. Belgarion squatted in front of the lock and, producing a small tool set, attempted to pick the lock. Unfortunately, with night close all around them, and the heat of the jungle making absolutely everything slick with moisture, he simply could not flip the clasp. • 14. Summary Of Ernest Hemingway sBig Two Hearted River Part 1 Response 1 Ernest Hemingway s Big Two Hearted River Part 1 appears as simple tale of a man going camping. It talks about his journey through a burnt area of land. He ultimately sets up camp, has some fond memories of a friend, and then he goes to sleep. However the story, in my opinion, has a much deeper meaning. Everything that happens in the story has a reason behind it being mentioned. Hemingway, I believe, shows Nick s growth through analogies that often fly over the reader s head, including the transition from the burnt town to the river, the river conditions, and the trouts movement in the river and the sooty appearance of the grasshoppers. Hemingway sets the location for the story as soon as Nick gets off the train There was no town, nothing but the rails and the burned over country. The thirteen saloons that had lined the one street of Seney had not left a trace ( 133). A town that was once booming with people had been burnt down. Why did Hemingway point out the destroyed town? It would appear that the focal point would be the town, but Hemingway quickly transitions into Nick going to a river. As the story says, Nick looked at the burned over stretch of hillside, where he had expected to find the scattered houses of the town and then walked down the railroad track to the bridge over the river. The river was there (133). He sets the reader up by talking about a once great town now being burnt to a crisp. The idea here is to have the reader thinking man, all these people have lost their home. Despite this, it is clear that the town being burnt down is not the most important thing. Hemingway could have easily told a story about the town; instead he quickly moved onto the river. The river is a very important and recurring piece of the story. When Hemingway says, Nick looked down into the clear, brown water, colored from the pebbly bottom (133), Notice how he talks about water being brown colored from the pebbles. It s clear that the water has changed due to the fire. Despite the changes, the fish were still doing just fine. Hemingway seems to drive home this point as he mentions, It was a long long time since Nick had looked into a stream and seen trout. They were very satisfactory. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. A Rhetorical Analysis Of Rubio s Name-Calling Marco Rubio is a Florida senator who is running for president in the 2016 election . He believes that women do not deserve equal pay, that the US must not help people to get out of debt, and that gay rights should be revoked. Now gay rights , as they are referred to, are actually rights for the LGBT community. LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, so gay rights actually cover a lot more individuals. These rights are just basic human rights for people who identify with the LGBT community, just an example of the rights, the right to marry, the right to shop where they want, the right to be treated respectfully at a job, and etc. And even though these are just basic human rights people still fight against them, leaving the LGBT community to fight back. The Virtual Disappearance of Miriam is a story driven narrative whose primary focus is the main protagonist s attempts to, and consequent failures at, controlling of the digital world beyond the computer screen. Accordingly, the lexia are presented in a linear manner, and the path the reader chooses is largely dependent upon top down interaction. This assignment gave me an opportunity to learn more about this religion and what their worship services and rituals were like. The temple that I went to was called BAPS Shri Swaminaryan Mandir and it was located in Lilburn. As soon as I walked in, I was amazed by the beautiful architectural design of this Temple. It seemed like it took a lot of hard work and dedication to make the place what it is now. The Mandir (temple) was constructed with Italian marble, Indian pink sandstone, and Turkish limestone. The walls were all carved with delicate carvings of Gods that were carefully shipped all the way from India. The Hindus had very strict rules that had to be followed, such as: no smoking, drinking or eating inside, cell phones had to be turned off, and we had to be silent. We also had to take our shoes off before entering the temple out of respect for the deities and to keep the floors clean. When I first entered the main worship room, I saw three women walking around the gods in clockwise motion. This clockwise motion is called Pradakshina, a form of worship that represents the fact that god is the center of everything and everyone else surrounds him. There were several gods in the room, each stored in their own window. Many people ranging from old to young kept going up to each god and doing their own prayers. I observed that the prayers were performed in a special way. You had to put your two hands together, close your eyes and pray to that specific God. I couldn t understand the prayers they were reciting because they were saying it in language. BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir offers many traditional rituals and services. Georges Seurat Before the development of digital cameras even well known artists used pixels to create some of todays famous works of art. The relation between digital pixels and the artistic style of pointillism is almost self explanatory, both use small dots of colour to create larger pieces of art. The painting style of pointillism can be explained by using dots of pure colour close together in a pattern to create a full image using optical blending. For example by painting a red and blue dot close together and having the viewer farther away their eyes will blend the two separate colours as violet rather than the individual red and blue. • 20. Letter From Birmingham Jail In Letter from Birmingham Jail, Martin Luther King, Jr. refutes the condemnatory claims made by eight white Alabama clergymen. By appealing to ethos, logos, and pathos King argues that he is not an outsider and that the experience of African Americans in segregated Birmingham warrants well intentioned demonstration and civil disobedience. In doing so, he calls attention to the clergymen s hypocrisy and firmly garners their respect and understanding. Martin Luther King gains the clergymen s trust and belief by establishing his moral character through ethos. King first accomplishes this by employing a tone of respect. He addresses the clergymen in the beginning paragraph as men of genuine good will whose criticisms are sincerely set forth (6 7). This makes the clergymen feel that their integrity and their concerns are heavily valued. When King later denounces their beliefs and actions, they are more likely to accept it as King s effort to achieve understanding between the two groups rather than an attack on their personal characteristics. A reverent tone is further built with King s choice to refer to the clergymen as sirs (121), my Christian and Jewish brothers (175), and other honorifics throughout the letter. Another objective was to identify the metals used in our experiments. We used a variety of different metals to test their correlation and to find out if it was negative or positive. I did not expect to learn much from this experiment as we had already discussed density in class and learned that water displacement is basically volume so as it increased the density would have decreased had we used metals of the same mass. I will share my newfound knowledge through this paper and I will discuss my finding with my peers and other people who enjoy chemistry. We have been discussing both water displacement and density in class; I assume the relevancy of this lab was to help people who learn better kinesthetically a chance to learn the material in a way they learn best. Background Information Density is the amount of matter per unit of measurement (Merriam Webster. Merriam Webster, n.d. Web. 26 Aug. 2016.). If water has a density of 1.0 g/mL and you place a substance with a density of 1.8 g/mL the substance will sink because it is denser than water. Density is often measured in g/cm^3 or g/mL because the formula for density is D=m/v. Having been diagnosed at the age of seven, it is the most prevalent thing in my life. ADHD is the most commonly diagnosed psychological disorder in the United States (Hughes). It is a persistent disorder, often prevalent through adolescence and adulthood. Most individuals diagnosed are between the ages of seven and nine, although there have been numerous cases where individuals have been diagnosed in their later years. Case studies show that males are four times more likely to be diagnosed/affected with ADHD, and lately, studies have shown an unexplained increase in the number of diagnoses made in children. It has been recognized that in the past, people have scoffed at the diagnosis of ADHD, and even disregarding and bashing the disorder, calling it things like, a real medical hoax (Citation). These individuals, however, are severely misguided, seeing as though ADHD is a real disorder, and it affects millions of people worldwide in present day. There have been neurological studies studying and showing that ADHD is, in fact, neurologically related, and it is most likely caused by chemical imbalances in individual s brains (Citation). Comparing My Papa s Waltz And Porphyria s Lover The poems that I chose to compare are My Papa s Waltz and Porphyria s Lover, both of which use a dark tone and end rhyme to tell a story of painful love through symbolism. My Papa s Waltz, written by Theodore Roethke in 1942, tells of a relationship between an alcoholic father who abuses his son. In Porphyria s Lover, written much earlier in 1836, Robert Browning describes a chilling tale of a madman who murder s the woman he loves the most. Both poems have the same theme of love with an underlying dark emotion First of all, these poems can be categorized together due to their similar structure. Both My Papa s Waltz and Porphyria s Lover use end rhyme. Take the first stanza, for example, of My Papa s Waltz : The Whiskey on your breath/ Could make a small boy dizzy; / But I hung on like death: / Such waltzing was not easy (1 4). This rhyme can be identified in ABAB format in the last words of each line; breath rhymes with death and dizzy with easy . This pattern continues throughout. The pattern used in Porphyria s Lover is somewhat different, however, Browning uses end rhyme as well. Lines 1 5 are written in ABABB, lines 6 10 in CDCDD, and so on. This odd pattern is used in order to convey the Speaker s madness. The end rhyme can be identified from the first stanza: The Rain set in early to night, / The sullen wind was soon awake, / It torn the elm tops down for spite, / And did its worst to vex the lake (1 4). Phishers uses fraudulent E mails and web sites that are so close to the real thing that many consumers are fooled by the copied images, links and texts that are often from the legitimate web site that the consumer thinks they are visiting. The Phishers are after your personal information; usernames, passwords, credit card numbers, home addresses, social security number, pretty much anything that can help open false accounts or empty your already existing accounts. What To Do If You Think You are a Victim First Contact your bank, your credit card company(s) and any other financial institution you are affiliated with and let them know that you think you are a victim. Second Contact one of the three major credit bureaus who will be able to work with you to find a solution. TransUnion 800 680 7289
