Differences Between Race And Class
When it comes to the topics of race and class those two topics cannot be talked about without
mentioning the other. There was a time where once race would determine where he/or she would be
placed within society. Within society we are placed categories to distinguish differences from one
another and two of those categories are race and class while the other is gender. There are many cases
where people can find themselves in multiple categories, which can either be served with advantages
and disadvantages. Race and Class being the more prevalent that s where you ll find most of societies
social problems. As defined, race is consider as being a group of people who share the same
distinctive physical characteristics and is not biological concept. ... Show more content on

gap has exceeded its racial income gap. This gap shows that there is little potential for all races to be

have the ability to have accumulative wealth over time and the ability to share assets with the coming
generation of their families. Where minorities do not have that ability and are less likely to keep

Intervention Strategy For Verizon Communication
Introduction Conflict resolution is necessary to keep focus and sustain the positive process. Collection
of all the facts should be done prior to attempted resolution. Communication to the parties in a private
setting to get their perspective is the idea. Only give opinions afterwards. Unless all is understood one
cannot move onto mediation. After making the decision, be resolute in the delivery. (Lewicki,
Saunders, Barry, 2015) Verizon Communications faced an increasingly uncommon situation in 2016
when about 39,000 of its workers went on strike. The workers are represented by the Communications
Workers of America (CWA) and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). These
workers install and repair cables, as well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason for the intervention was to get the Verizon workers back to work and get Verizon back to a
competitive state on the global market. To ease tensions and allow for a level playing field Mr. Perez
wanted both parties to talk in a non threatening environment, so he invited them to meet in an informal
setting with no suits and ties. He even downplayed the lunch menu to sandwiches and salad.
Experienced negotiators understand, however, that changing the negotiation setting the physical
location in which it occurs can be an important tactic for getting negotiations back on track (Lewicki,
Saunders Barry, 2015). In short, negotiations from Verizon side was to get costs down, and from the
Union side, it was job security. The Labor Department offered any of its available assets to both sides
to broker a deal. At times the DOL provided expertise in the form of healthcare laws, benefits, and fair
labor practices. To end the talks and bring both sides together, Mr. Perez issued a challenge for both
sides to consider the 40,000 workers that were being affected and the amount of business lost due to
the ongoing negotiations. Satisfactory results achieved due to the efforts led by Secretary Perez and
the Department of Labor. After tense negotiations, Verizon and the unions were able to come to an
agreement that ended the strike. There was give and

Analyze the business use of insurance for various risks
Various forms of insurance will need to be acquired in order to minimize the risk of performing
business as a river rafting company. The main sources of risk the company will face are injuries to our
clients while on the river, injuries to our employees while performing their occupational duties,
damage to the rafts or other equipment while being used on the river and damages to our mobile home
office on the riverbank most likely due to a flood. The types of insurance that will minimize the
monetary loss and liability the company will face from these events are two forms of professional
liability insurance, worker s compensation insurance, property insurance and business interruption
insurance. Property insurance will compensate the business for the damages to our office in the event
of a flood or other disaster while business interruption insurance will provide the business with the

This paper explains the importance of having a new approach towards competitive strategies due to
the changes in the elements that determine the industry competition in agribusiness sector.
Most of the research on the usage of Information Systems in Agribusiness doesn t focus on the
coordination issues. Take Porter s Value Chain concept as an example for this. It doesn t focus on the
role that technology plays in improving coordination among market players. Rather, it focuses on how
information technologies can be made use of to lower the costs, differentiating the products and/or
increasing the barriers for entering. Konsynski and McFarlan are researching on competitiveness to
link coordination and Information Technology issues. The explored different information partnerships
among market players, by focusing on the non food sector, which allows efficient and productive
coordination. In this paper, Streeter and Hudson applied this Konsynski McFarlan framework to the
agribusiness and food sector to identify various partnerships.
As noted by Ed McMillan, CEO of Purina Mills, for the first time in the history of American
agriculture, the end consumer is driving the entire food chain. Not the packers or producers . In other
words, today s Agribusiness sector is considered as a Consumer Oriented sector. Not a Commodity

Similarities Between Wordsworth And Tintern Abbey
Wordsworth s Tintern Abbey when compared to Coleridge s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner argues
that the poet creates meaning from surroundings by offering a background story or outright pointing to
a moral of the circumstances. However, Coleridge s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner states that the
reader is the one to decipher meaning from the circumstances; the poet can only create the story, but
ultimately leaves it up to the readers to derive the meaning for themselves. Tintern Abbey is told from
the narrator s point of view as Wordsworth. In it, he observes the picturesque beauty of nature
contrasted with man made structures like overgrown fields and a dilapidated church. He expresses his
feelings of how such a sight, In hours of weariness, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The point of such poems like Tintern Abbey or The Rime of the Ancient Mariner was so that the poet
could transfer from our inward nature a human interest and semblance of truth sufficient to procure
from these shadows of imagination that willing suspension of disbelief for the moment, which
constitutes poetic faith (567). It was so that The Rime of the Ancient Mariner could be written with
enough details to describe what was happening, even with added side notes for additional clarification,
but leave it up the reader to deduce the meaning for themselves by the feelings the poem might inspire
within them. Coleridge s critique for Wordsworth was that his use of extra colloquial language made
his poems too common an experience to incite greater emotion within the reader

why do you still have his number? Dylan is one of my infamous exes; we dated for a year and a half

To What Extent Can There Be If A Baking Soda Is...
Question What will the outcome be if the amount of baking soda is substituted with an equal amount
of baking powder in a standard chocolate chip cookie?
Knowledge Probe
Scientific Knowledge:
From previous experiences with baking cookies we are aware that if you accidentally use baking
powder instead of soda, the cookies will increase in thickness and will result in a sponge like texture.
Baking soda and baking powder are similar, but have different reactions to the ingredients in baking
cookies. Baking soda is also known as sodium bicarbonate, and once it meets heat, carbon dioxide is
formed. The carbon dioxide is what gives rise to cookies and other baked goods. Baking powder, on
the other hand, is a mixture of baking soda, powdered acid, and cornstarch (Baking 101: The

We concluded that only one trial is not sufficient enough to provide an accurate claim. It is not
accurate because no measurement is precise so Byars cookie compared to ours will be different. By
conducting more than one trial we would have many of the same cookies to compare their general
features to Byars cookie. It would be easier to tell if in fact Byars did substitute baking powder for
baking soda or if he did not.
Errors that could not be eliminated includes the fact that measurements are not precise, and the varying
temperatures of the oven used. Because measurements are not precise, it is very unlikely that two
cookies will be exactly the same, making it harder to reach an accurate claim. During the experiment
we discovered that the oven had been set to a lower temperature than the 375° F specified in the
procedures. This caused cookies to become undercooked without realizing is as to the fact we were
following the procedure of leaving the cookie in only for nine to eleven minutes.

How The Hundred Years War Greatly Impacted The Course Of...
The hundred years war greatly impacted the course of world history. This war was marked as one of
the biggest wars ever fought in history. Dated to go from 1337 to 1453, this war led to new weapons
being created, which not only played a major role in this war, but in all of world history. The creation
of these new weapons led to the end of an economic system known as Feudalism. The war also was a
cause of religious conflicts in the Catholic church. Another major event that had happened during this
war was the Black Plague striking the Middle East. The Hundred Years War began when Edward III,
of England, assumed the right as king of France from King Philip VI. King Philip VI had not gone
through with an agreement he had made with England to restore a part of Guienne, which had been
taken by Charles IV. The French did not believe that an Englishmen should be ruling France, but
rather wanted a French noble ruling France (Hundred Years War). In the beginning of the war, King
Edward III attacked and took over Flanders, which was a marketplace for wool and cloths (Hundred
Years War). The Hundred Years War was not only marked as important in world history for it s length
on the timeline, but also for some of the major events that happened, such as the Black Plague, the end
of Feudalism, and the major battles that had occurred. Feudalism is the old political and economic
system that Medieval Europe had used at the the time of the war. In the feudalist society, the only

How Did Catherine The Great Influence Russia
Catherine the Great: An Abundance of Influence
Catherine II, Russia s longest reigning female monarch, was neither born Russian nor originally
named Catherine. Nor, despite the general consensus, was she just an overly ambitious fornicatress,
although she did have many lovers, many of whom helped her on her quest to greatness. Rather, she
was a complex and extremely powerful Tsarina whose legacy rightly goes far beyond a promiscuous
woman with expensive tastes. During her reign, Catherine became not only one of the most influential
women of her time, but one of the most influential people, changing Russia s politics, enriching her
culture, and shaping her future.

Besides her affairs and her potential role in her husband s death, she also reversed a lot of her earlier
reformation ideas, gaining more power for the upper class and pushing more people into serfdom.
However, this strong, bizarre woman changed Russia in many ways, which we can see as we study
Russian history. Perhaps most importantly, in a time when tens of thousands of Russians were dying
of smallpox, she inoculated herself with smallpox to prove that vaccinations were safe, and
popularized inoculation in Russia. In addition, she established the first Russian College of Medicine,
as well as several hospitals across the country. These steps forward in healthcare further westernized
Russia and improved her overall lifestyle.
One of Catherine s greatest contributions to Russia was the improvement of her economy. As Anthony
P. Johnson discusses in his book The Original Diva: The Life and Times of Catherine II the Great,
Catherine implemented a variety of policies to stimulate economic growth:
First, she established the Free Economic Society (1765) to encourage the modernization of agriculture
and industry. Second, she encouraged foreign investment in economically underdeveloped areas.
Third, Catherine relaxed the censorship law and encouraged education for the nobles and middle class.

The Role Of Minor Characters In The Chrysalids
The Role of the Characters in The Chrysalids by John Wyndham
In the novel The Chrysalids by John Wyndham, several minor characters are presented to help convey
the themes of the text. Alan Irvin, Sophie Wender, and Axel Morton are several of the minor
characters, who are presented in the novel, that assist in the communication of themes to the reader.
These characters help develop themes such as intolerance, and the nature of a closed society. John
Wyndham also employs various literary techniques including personalisation, and development of
character depth, which are imposed upon the characters to better convey the themes of the novel.

The theme of the nature of a closed society refers to the fact that people who live in such communities
aren t able to question what they are taught as they are they are deprived of the knowledge which
travelling and other people can teach them.
When reading the novel it is clear that Axel identifies with the text s criticisms of intolerance. Axel
disagrees with the intolerance toward things different from the normal, as he himself is not physically
the same as others in Waknuk. Axel Morton however is not a deviant because his abnormality was
obtained after birth in a sailing accident. He was standing in the customary way, with much of his
weight upon the thick stick he used because his leg had been wrongly set at sea . This quote reveals
Axel Morton s difference from the norm, and although it is not a huge variation, he still had to cope
with that difference, and his inability to perform certain tasks that others could do. Although this
difference from the norm was not deviational, he was still able to sympathise with true deviants, as he
knew what it was like to be different to others around him. His difference form the norm was not the
only reason for which he sympathised with deviants, but his knowledge also of other places and
people, allowed him to have an open mind about certain viewpoints, which others did

How and why did the apartheid system come into existence...
The term apartheid was one of the most politically charged words in the second half of the 20th
century, and still remains notorious today. Apartheid translated from Afrikaans means separateness or
apartness . However when the National Party came to power in South Africa in 1948, it took on a
much more sinister meaning and today is associated with racial and ethnic discrimination. The roots of
apartheid stem deep into South African history. It started way back during European settlement, and
was enforced and maintained right up until the end of the 20th Century. It will forever leave a mark on
South Africa and indeed the world; a dark period in human history from which we have and will
continue to learn.

Apartheid came about in South Africa because of an Afrikaner belief of their god given right to Africa,
which was also a racist one. Apartheid was therefore a means to support and institutionalize their view
on how the country should be run.
Apartheid was kept in place through various means, mainly the use of legislation and technology. The
main way that the government implement apartheid was through legislation. There were countless
laws and bills passed, which over time stripped black Africans of their rights, all the while favoring
the white elite of South Africa. Race laws affected every social aspect of life in apartheid South
Africa. The early policies that were made when the National Party first came into power set the base
for the later policies to take effect and branch off. These policies embodied what the apartheid regime
was all about, notably two of the earliest policies made, being the Population Registration Act and the
Group Areas Act. Both were made in 1950, with the Population Registration Act requiring al South
Africans to be racially classified into either white, black or colored, and the Group Areas Act which
geographically separated the racial groups.
These laws and policies prevented the black population having the same privileges, standards of living
and status as the white South Africans. Under the apartheid system everyday life was greatly affected

Booker Du Bois And Booker T. Washington
Should Blacks have to give up their civil rights, political power and the choice of higher education for
the younger generations just to survive in a White dominated society? Should Black America have to
pay such a high cost to be accepted only to be viewed as the inferior race? Blacks had to take the
backseat in society for many years. Some were probably pressured and some just plain settled. The
feeling of not having a choice and taking the better option was of no benefit to the blacks. What was
considered to be the best decision only proved to be the worse decision that black America could ever
make. The writing Of Booker T. Washington and Others highlighted the views W. E. B. Du Bois and

Why let all those efforts go in vain? But this is exactly what Mr. Washington wanted to the Blacks to
do. This was the strategy he felt would help Blacks get to where they strived to be. Mr. Du Bois he too
was an advocate for economical success for black but not at the price of giving up your rights as a
citizen. He felt blacks could be successful as well as educated. He felt blacks should not have to take
the low road of inferiority to achieve financial solidity.
Due to the amount of opposition Blacks faced giving up a few rights to take the spotlight off of them
seemed like a fair trade that the majority of the people accepted. Du Bois stated, As a result of this
tender of the palm branch, what has been the return? In these years there have occurred: 1. The
disfranchisement of the Negro. 2. The legal creation of distinct status of civil inferiority for the Negro.
3. The steady withdrawal of aid from institutions for the higher training of the Negro. (Du Bois).
This created a well defined line of segregation. And this time it seems as though Blacks unknowingly
did it to themselves under the direction of Booker T. Washington. The division was not entirely
because of Mr. Washington but his suggestions did help aid in the separation. There were already civil
issues between Blacks and Whites and this was a definite setback. The aftermath resulted in a broken
Black America. Black America needed to know there was hope. Mr. Du Bois

The Basic Characteristics Of Humanism During The Renaissance
Some of the basic characteristics of Humanism especially during the beginning were that it mostly
consisted and was centralized around Italy. The reading mentions that something that made Italy
different from Europe was that their members were part of the clergy. Being part of the clergy
defiantly have them an advantage in which they had some governmental and educational experience.
Something else that the reading mentions is that humanism meant rhetoric and literature bases. In my
opinion, this was really important because it focuses more attention on the importance of education,
history, and literature. This was just a starting point of what education and the importance of it would
eventually become. The beginning of humanism also bega the practicing of history, one in which
people actually wrote in means of history actually writing for it. Humanitism increased in popularity
and therefore inspired others to learn and do the same. Italians viewed this situation as a preparation
for the public life. With this, not only people benefit but the whole society as a whole were benefited.
The classical value overall during the Renaissance was very impacting. I believe this because not only
did the Humanism thinking and Humanists help somehow develop better ways of thinking. This not
only opened new ways, but also better ways to think, act, and even create. The development of
Humanism helped create interest in new and even some controversial ideas. Rhe reading mentions that

can strike by doing something as simple as looking over your shoulder or as complicated as hacking
into websites that have your information like Facebook or Equifax. Speaking of Equifax, you might ve

Comparing the Democratic and Republican Parties Essay
Comparing the Democratic and Republican Parties Ralph Nader campaigned for the 2001 Presidency
by arguing that there are no real differences between the two major parties. In a broad sense, that
statement might seem true. Major political parties play a majoritarian role in an otherwise pluralistic
democracy in the United States. They are both majoritarian institutions trying to win control of the
government. The differences between the parties lie in each party s beliefs about the purpose and
scope of government. The United States is a government run by the people and for the people. The

of people act on their behalf. In a pluralistic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All governments require people to surrender some freedom as a part of being governed and people can
justify surrending some freedom to this control in order to obtain the benefits of government.
Government has always served two major purposes: maintaining order, which is preserving life and
protecting property, and providing public goods, such as highways, state parks, etc. Recently,
government has pursued a third purpose: promoting equality. In the United States, the government s
fundamental issues are often defined as freedom, order and equality. How it decides to promote those
fundamental issues and how it chooses the proper mix of freedom, order and equality in its
policymaking has to do with the process of choice. Freedom means different things to different people
at different times, depending on what political context is being used. The two major senses of freedom
are: freedom of and freedom from. Freedom of means freedom to do something. It is the lack of
constraints on behavior. Freedom from means immunity from discrimination and it comes close to the
concept of equality. Order is viewed in one sense as preserving life and protecting property. Few
people would argue the need for order. However, order viewed in broader senses refers to established
patterns of authority in society and to traditional modes of behavior, such as how students should dress
in school (neatly and without outrageous hair colors) and what the press should not

Essay on The Bubonic Plague and the Great Fire of London
The Bubonic Plague and the Great Fire of London Two disasters struck London during the 1660s with
the first being an outbreak of bubonic plague, the last and worst of a series that had started in the
1300s. The latter disaster was the great fire of London in which a Bakery broke out in flames near to
the London Bridge when many of London s houses became sources of combustion as the fire took
hold of their wooden structures. Various source materials exist for the events of the 1660s which
include history books, biographies, autobiographies and narratives, of which one source of history

My wife came up suddenly when she caught me embracing Debs with my hand under her coat and in

Samuel shows little feelings for his wife Elizabeth throughout his diary. As both extracts show his
attitude and treatment towards Elizabeth could be common of the attitudes of other men in the 17th
century. The stereotypical role for most women was to marry young, also, women were not as well
educated as their husbands and were therefore thought of as second class citizens. Other women were
not so fortunate and became housemaids rather than marry. As there were arranged marriages in the
17th century Samuel had married Elizabeth, who was fortunate as she was the daughter of a Huguenot
(a French protestant). Traditionally marriages were made on social class in relation to status and
education, or alternatively it was as a goodwill gesture between families or a business associate. It was
very rare that marriages were made for reasons of love and compassion. Elizabeth however was
chosen for political reasons, as from looking into Samuels work history and the history up to the 1660
s he could have married Elizabeth to help keep peace and promote integration

The Amazon Rainforest Covering more than forty percent of South America is the Amazon Rainforest.
It s known for being the largest rainforest on the planet. Most of the jungle lies in Brazil. The Amazon
Rainforest also holds the Amazon River. According to the National Science Foundation, the amazon
river is the longest river in the world by volume and contains twenty percent of the Earths freshwater.
But the Nile River is the longest when calculating width. Being as big a it is, the amazon holds a
massive number of dfferent types of species of wildlife with different kinds of sub ecosystems to
provide for them. When I think of the Amazon I first think of the terrestrial ecosystems. These are the
land based eviroments. I m going to take the first part of this project to talk about the terrestrial
ecosystem in the amazon and all the wildlife that it holds. According to WorldAtlas there are 427 types
of mammals, 1,300 types of birds, 378 types of reptiles, more than 400 kinds of amphibians, over
80,000 types of plants and trees, and estimation of over 2 million differnt types of insects.
Unfortunatley I cannot go over ever single one of these unique species so I will talk about the more
popular species that benefit the jungle. The rainforest is divided in four layers: forest floor, understory,
canopy and emergent. The canopy is the most heavy populated with plant life, with trees towering up
to 200 feet

Problems in Air Traffic Control and Proposed Solutions
Problems in Air Traffic Control and Proposed Solutions In northern California this summer, the
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) unintentionally performed it s first operational test of free
flight ; aviation without direct air traffic control. This was an unintentional experiment because it was
a result of a total shut down of the Oakland Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC). Although
Oakland is only the 16th busiest ARTCC, it s responsible for the largest block of airspace of any ATC

Schizoid Personality Disorder In Catcher In The Rye
Schizoid Personality Disorder is often described as a long standing pattern of detachment from social
relationships. People with this disorder may be seen as a loner, and they may lack the desire or skill to
form close personal relationships, they also may exhibit emotional coldness and a disinterest in sexual
experiences. The Mayo Clinic describes this disorder as an uncommon condition in which people
avoid social activities and consistently shy away from interaction with others. If you have schizoid
personality disorder, you may not know how to form friendships, or you may feel too anxious around
other people to try, so you simply give up and turn inward. Until the end of the novel, Holden shows
the traits of someone suffering from Schizoid Personality Disorder, such as not being sexually active,
lying constantly, and escaping to a different and easier reality, which attributes to many of the events
of the novel. People with Schizoid Personality Disorder often aren t sexually active. Rashmi Nemade,
Ph.D. Mark Dombeck, Ph.D from Seven Counties says this is because people with this disorder often
have ...little, if any, interest in having sexual experiences with another person. In the middle of
Catcher in the Rye, Holden meets a pimp in the elevator and decides to buy a prostitute for the night.
However, when she arrives, all he wants to do is talk for a while. Eventually when she asks if they are
going to do anything, Holden admits that they won t and makes up a lie

Essay about Pagan Aspects in Beowulf
Scholars have argued about the religious stance of the epic poem Beowulf for centuries. Although the
man who put the poem down on paper, known as the Beowulf poet, was a devout Christian, the actual
poem itself is pagan. There are many clues in the epic that lead us to this conclusion such as the
numerous references to pagan symbols, namely the symbol of fate. Also, the central idea of revenge in
the poem opposes the ideas of Christianity. The poem also contains many breaches of the Ten
Commandments, which prove that the story is not Christian. However, the biggest clue to the
paganism of Beowulf is the scene that contains the burial of Beowulf and the building and idolization
of the tower, all of which go directly against the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no evidence anywhere that leads us to believe that poison is part of the Christian religion,
again emphasizing the paganism of the poem. Although all of these are important pagan symbols that
lead us to believe that this poem is not Christian, probably the most significant pagan symbol is that of
fate. The idea of fate ruled the lives of the pagans. Their belief was that you were born with a fate, and
there was nothing that could change this destiny. This idea becomes apparent in Beowulf several
times. As Beowulf is dying he refers to his leaving this earth as just part of his destiny when he says
that [m]y days have gone by as fate willed (Norton 1604). The idea of fate is called on again when
Beowulf asks Wiglaf to succeed him as king of the Geats. He tells Wiglaf that he would have given
the honor to his son, if he had one, but fate did not allow it. We see a reference to fate a final time
when Wiglaf speaks of Beowulf after his death. He offers that as much as Beowulf s people tried to
convince him to leave well enough alone, to allow the monster to live on forever, there was no
changing Beowulf s destiny. Beowulf s [f]ate, and his will, [w]ere too strong (Norton 1611). Fate is
clearly a non Christian idea, and its presence in the poem helps the case for Beowulf being a pagan
story.
A huge theme in Beowulf is the revenge ethic that all of the characters possess. During the time in

There are many different forms and styles used in writing. Writing is a form of communication that is
used to document and express ideas people have. Through the years as people grow and learn knew
ways of writing, writing awareness of a person will evolve into a much higher level of thinking. From
the first term paper a person writes in high school to the papers they hand in at the college level, the
writing will have matured over the years. The authors of writing develop new and more sophisticated
ways in expressing themselves through the words they use in writing. Throughout history writers have

If writers choose to use voice in their writing, they must consider which voice will represent their
writing the best. One of the first things that can come to mind in choosing a voice is the gender of the
voice that is going to be used. Gender becomes an important decision, because a male or female voice
may represent certain things better then the other gender. Male voices generally have a more
dominant, deep, loud sounding voice. Compared to a female voice which generally has a kind, softer
sounding voice. This may be sexist, but most people put a stereotype on different voices.
As people read things they have formed a stereotype on what gender the voice is coming from. For
example if a male reads a magazine article from a hunting magazine, they are going to think that a
male wrote it without even looking at who actually wrote the article. This is the same for females
reading a magazine about wearing make up, they have a stereotype of who writes these articles. Most
males and females are set in their ways, they have set stereotypes that grows with them as they grow
up. The gender of the voice in writing plays an important role of what stereotype the reader is going to
perceive.
People have a general stereotype of voice when it comes to gender. As people read they may try to

St Louis And Saint Louis
The Saint Louis Man
Throughout my six years at Saint Louis I was taught to become a Saint Louis Man. Saint Louis
molded me. They have been teaching the students how to respect all their peers, especially women for
over 165 years. Being a gentleman shows in these two traits of a Saint Louis Man, Live the golden
rule and respect all people, especially women and also the life of my brother, Alika Pilialoha Fonseca.
Outsiders look at those who attend Saint Louis as disrespectful and they do not know how to treat
women properly; however, Saint Louis prepares the men of Kalaepohaku to be gentlemen to all people
especially women in college and the workforce.
The character of a Saint Louis Man are instilled into our everyday lives from school, to the real world
and ongoing into our life as adults . One of the traits that exemplifies respecting women is the golden
rule, treat others the way you want to be treated . The teachings we learn at Saint Louis is to imagine if
someone mistreats one of your female family members or spouse, wouldnʻt you be furious? So donʻt
go out to make other people have that feeling. Treat your peers with respect if you want respect,
everyone who gives the respect, deserves respect.
Respect all people, especially women ; this trait of being a Saint Louis man is emphasized to the point
of knowing it like it is your first name. As a graduate from Saint Louis I can say that our teachers and
faculty are good examples of living the Saint Louis Man

Choosing The Correct Teaching Method
Teaching Methods
Introduction
Choosing the correct teaching method is important to help the learner retain and learn information in
an effective and efficient way. Tobacco use is a health related topic that needs further education and
intervention from a nurse. When selecting two teaching methods that are of interest to me, which
would be beneficial to use when educating a small group of five people about this health related topic
are group discussion and demonstration and return demonstration. Group discussion involves the
deliverance of medical information or education to a small group of individuals which may include
their family so information, opinions can be exchanged with the nurse. This is simple way to deliver
information to more than one person at one time if time management is a concern, and the nurse is
able to build trust and rapport with the group as a whole. Demonstration and return demonstration
works more effectively in a small group and involves education or teaching with the nurse and
learner(s). This method also allows time for feedback from both parties. The nurse gives the learner a
demonstration of a task to perform and the learner has to attempt to carry out the task back showing
competence, and the nurse is on standby to give cues as needed.
Group discussions Group discussions are beneficial as this teaching method is useful as it allows the
learners to share information about their personal experiences and is both economically and

The themes are identity and education. The essay can be found in Angelou s autobiography, I Know
Why the Caged Bird Sings. The autobiography describes how living in the south during the
Depression was a time for survival (Ball). The message of Graduation is the same; no matter what
obstacles arise she will survive. Angelou deserves an A for this essay because she has strong examples
of overcoming obstacles, sophisticated descriptions, and has a clear sense of purpose with strong
development. Angelou s example of overcoming adversity is the strongest at the end of the essay.
Something unrehearsed, unplanned, was going to happen, and we were going to be made to look bad
(Angelou 26). As she is sitting there as a young girl at her graduation, she can feel the unwelcoming
presence of the speaker s words and actions. Before the speaker begins his political rant of what he has
brought to the white community, Angelou anticipates that the graduating class is going to be shamed.
Angelou believes the speaker s words, and starts to doubt her hopes and dreams. The man s dead
words fell like bricks around the auditorium and too many settled in my belly (Angelou 28). As Henry
Reed starts to sing the Negro national anthem, Angelou finally senses that the words do have meaning
to her. Nearly every event that Angelou mentions in her autobiography has one of two different aims.
The aim she uses in this essay is how she faces obstacles, overcomes them, and

A Foreign Building Essay
Imagine walking into a foreign building where you were welcomed with open arms, warm greetings,
and sincere smiles. We were introduced to a new way of life that started with us responding to As
Salaam Alaikum with Wa Alaikum Salaam along with firm handshakes. Because we did a little bit of
research before making the trip to one of the oldest mosques in South Florida, we felt a little more
prepared and confident in what we came there to accomplish. This is what happened when our team of
four anthropologists took a trip to Masjid Al Ansar. Once inside, we quickly noticed that we could not
understand any of the frames and paintings we saw because Arabic was prominent in them. There
were many symbols in Arabic and pictures of the Kaaba designed around frames painted in gold. They
only things that were in English were the names of the audio speakers and the projector. Our culture
guide quickly mentioned to us that the females sat on one side of the room and males the other. As the
service commenced, we witnessed the Jummah prayer and tried to take an etic account of what we
were seeing as much as possible.

Large Pools Of Large Size Corporation
Presence of big data is a very common phenomenon now days, specially when talking about medium
to large size corporation. Manyika et al., in their article (James Manyika, 2011) defined the term big
data as large pools of data that can be captured, communicated, aggregated, stored, and analyzed . To
clarify they suggested that big data refers to data, whose size makes it impossible to be processed by
the typical software used for database management. Gartner (Gartner, 2012)defined big data in terms

Therefore, HR big data management is the discipline of arranging and storing a large volume of HR
data in an organized way so that it can be traced and used in case to serve any business needs. On the

employees. This engagement is the sound concentration of the employees in the working environment,
attention to individual details and also loyalty towards the company. The experts claim that engaged
employees do more; there fore, to get more out of less, the logic would be that managers simply need

Such efforts are by no means new as neighborhood revitalization through the civic engagement of
residents in low income communities has long been a funding priority of the philanthropic community.
The African American community in particular, hard hit by social and economic challenges, presents
many opportunities for the increased civic engagement on the part of residents to promote changes in
approaches and strategies. Community foundations have the resources and commitment to community
revitalization to make significant inroads into solving the problems in low income communities.
Tester, Ruel, Anderson, Reitzes, and Oakley (2011) describe issues such as urban renewal as directly
responsible for the decline and destruction of low income African American communities. They argue
that strategies such as relocating residents of public housing and high crime areas for example are not
solutions to the root cause of the problem lack of support, inadequate resources, and isolation. Further,
relocating residents of these communities does not result in improved quality of life. In fact, those
moved out of one low income community typically migrate to a similar type of community that is
usually only a few miles from where they originally resided. It is at the community level in everyday
activities that citizens can experience the most measurable and impactful degree of civic engagement.

The Realism Of Realism And Film
The aesthetics of realism in each film can be utilized in many diverse ways to offer certain truths
about the world of the film to further express the film s story. These theatrical elements emphasize
what the film attempts to relay to the audience; moreover, it intensifies the authenticity of each aspect
of the film. The use of real people, on camera interviews, textual information, and of direct address to
the camera displays the realism of each film.

On camera interviews in both the films accentuate the films realism. In Shut up and Sing there is an
interview in the beginning of the movie which took place after Natalie voiced her impolite comment
about President Bush. This shows the audience that Natalie is in fact sorry she said what she had said
but not sorry she had spoken up. Martie furthers her point by saying that their band would not be as
eminent as they are now if Natalie restrained her outspoken attitude. Another example is when the
Dixie Chicks are interviewed after the release of their new song Not Ready to Make Nice. The
interviewer says that public opinion has changed much in the past three years and that Bush s ratings
have gone down. Natalie replies that they were compelled to write their newest album. This shows the
audience the band s determination to stick with their opinions and that Bush s support has decreased
while the band s support has endured. In Spinal Tap, there are several instances in where the band is
interviewed. It is relayed to the audience that several drummers that were once apart of Spinal Tap
have all died under mysterious circumstances. This element, on camera interviews, is used to disclose
some background of the band. Another example is when the lead singer of the band is interviewed

Both are very important and very helpful to pilots. As a pilot you must be able to practice the
maneuvers and Emergency procedures that could one day save your life. Throughout history flight
simulation has changed dramatically. From the days of pilots sitting in a basket learning the
monoplane to now where you can barely tell you aren t even in a simulator. I have not personally
flown in simulators but from my understanding they are crucial in learning proper scanning techniques
and maneuvers that you may not want to perform in a live aircraft until necessary. I have heard it said
many times that perfect practice makes perfect . I find this to be very true. In my training I find that if
I often slow down and do the maneuver the correct way than I become a much better pilot. This I
believe is what the chapter is trying to say. (Salas Maurino, 2010) ... Show more content on

During a flyover maneuver at Habsheim Aerodrome during an airshow, AF296 failed to perform a go
around and flew into the trees at the end of the runway. The aircraft crashed into the forest, resulting in
three fatalities and several injuries. The low speed flyover was supposed to take place at an altitude of

The Movie The Star Spangled Banner
Since the early 1900s, the playing of The Star Spangled Banner is an opportunity for citizens to honor
their country and reflect on the great liberties that they are afforded. It sounds simple but the anthem
has become complicated. This is America 2016, a time where police officers are getting away with
murder and a businessman is elected as our president. When the quarterback of the San Francisco
49ers Colin Kaepernick decided to not stand for the playing of the national anthem in the pre season
game of the NFL, he was the first athlete to vividly illustrate his outrage over the police brutality
stirring within the American population. His actions have led to a wave of athlete protests who are
joining to exercise their constitutional rights and help fight against an issue bigger than sports.
However, there are many citizens attacking the silent protests with violent threats and are calling the
participants disrespectful. While the controversy has centered on the playing of The Star Spangled
Banner, it has been overlooked that the problem is really with the entire country and the cultural
divisions that exist in today s society. Although many patriotic fans are criticizing and denouncing his
actions, Kaepernick and many other protesters are making a difference by standing against the
oppression of minorities and social injustices that are gripping our nation. After Kaepernick protested
against the national anthem, it inspired many athletes to join his silent actions.

There was a time where once race would determine where he/or she would be placed within society. Within society we are placed categories to distinguish differences from one another and two of those categories are race and class while the other is gender. There are many cases where people can find themselves in multiple categories, which can either be served with advantages and disadvantages. • 3. Intervention Strategy For Verizon Communication Introduction Conflict resolution is necessary to keep focus and sustain the positive process. Collection of all the facts should be done prior to attempted resolution. Communication to the parties in a private setting to get their perspective is the idea. Only give opinions afterwards. Unless all is understood one cannot move onto mediation. After making the decision, be resolute in the delivery. (Lewicki, Saunders, Barry, 2015) Verizon Communications faced an increasingly uncommon situation in 2016 when about 39,000 of its workers went on strike. The workers are represented by the Communications Workers of America (CWA) and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). These workers install and repair cables, as well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason for the intervention was to get the Verizon workers back to work and get Verizon back to a competitive state on the global market. To ease tensions and allow for a level playing field Mr. Perez wanted both parties to talk in a non threatening environment, so he invited them to meet in an informal setting with no suits and ties. People with this disorder may be seen as a loner, and they may lack the desire or skill to form close personal relationships, they also may exhibit emotional coldness and a disinterest in sexual experiences. The Mayo Clinic describes this disorder as an uncommon condition in which people avoid social activities and consistently shy away from interaction with others. If you have schizoid personality disorder, you may not know how to form friendships, or you may feel too anxious around other people to try, so you simply give up and turn inward. • 24. Essay about Pagan Aspects in Beowulf Scholars have argued about the religious stance of the epic poem Beowulf for centuries. Although the man who put the poem down on paper, known as the Beowulf poet, was a devout Christian, the actual poem itself is pagan. There are many clues in the epic that lead us to this conclusion such as the numerous references to pagan symbols, namely the symbol of fate. Also, the central idea of revenge in the poem opposes the ideas of Christianity. The poem also contains many breaches of the Ten Commandments, which prove that the story is not Christian. However, the biggest clue to the paganism of Beowulf is the scene that contains the burial of Beowulf and the building and idolization of the tower, all of which go directly against the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is no evidence anywhere that leads us to believe that poison is part of the Christian religion, again emphasizing the paganism of the poem. Although all of these are important pagan symbols that lead us to believe that this poem is not Christian, probably the most significant pagan symbol is that of fate. The idea of fate ruled the lives of the pagans. Their belief was that you were born with a fate, and there was nothing that could change this destiny. This idea becomes apparent in Beowulf several times. As Beowulf is dying he refers to his leaving this earth as just part of his destiny when he says that [m]y days have gone by as fate willed (Norton 1604). The idea of fate is called on again when Beowulf asks Wiglaf to succeed him as king of the Geats. He tells Wiglaf that he would have given the honor to his son, if he had one, but fate did not allow it. We see a reference to fate a final time when Wiglaf speaks of Beowulf after his death. He offers that as much as Beowulf s people tried to convince him to leave well enough alone, to allow the monster to live on forever, there was no changing Beowulf s destiny. Beowulf s [f]ate, and his will, [w]ere too strong (Norton 1611). Fate is clearly a non Christian idea, and its presence in the poem helps the case for Beowulf being a pagan story. Compared to a female voice which generally has a kind, softer sounding voice. This may be sexist, but most people put a stereotype on different voices. Choosing The Correct Teaching Method Teaching Methods Introduction Choosing the correct teaching method is important to help the learner retain and learn information in an effective and efficient way. Tobacco use is a health related topic that needs further education and intervention from a nurse. When selecting two teaching methods that are of interest to me, which would be beneficial to use when educating a small group of five people about this health related topic are group discussion and demonstration and return demonstration. Group discussion involves the deliverance of medical information or education to a small group of individuals which may include their family so information, opinions can be exchanged with the nurse. This is simple way to deliver information to more than one person at one time if time management is a concern, and the nurse is able to build trust and rapport with the group as a whole. Demonstration and return demonstration works more effectively in a small group and involves education or teaching with the nurse and learner(s). This method also allows time for feedback from both parties. The nurse gives the learner a demonstration of a task to perform and the learner has to attempt to carry out the task back showing competence, and the nurse is on standby to give cues as needed. The message of Graduation is the same; no matter what obstacles arise she will survive. Angelou deserves an A for this essay because she has strong examples of overcoming obstacles, sophisticated descriptions, and has a clear sense of purpose with strong development. Angelou s example of overcoming adversity is the strongest at the end of the essay. Something unrehearsed, unplanned, was going to happen, and we were going to be made to look bad (Angelou 26). As she is sitting there as a young girl at her graduation, she can feel the unwelcoming presence of the speaker s words and actions. Before the speaker begins his political rant of what he has brought to the white community, Angelou anticipates that the graduating class is going to be shamed. Angelou believes the speaker s words, and starts to doubt her hopes and dreams. The man s dead words fell like bricks around the auditorium and too many settled in my belly (Angelou 28). As Henry Reed starts to sing the Negro national anthem, Angelou finally senses that the words do have meaning to her. Nearly every event that Angelou mentions in her autobiography has one of two different aims. The aim she uses in this essay is how she faces obstacles, overcomes them, and ... This is what happened when our team of four anthropologists took a trip to Masjid Al Ansar. There were many symbols in Arabic and pictures of the Kaaba designed around frames painted in gold. They only things that were in English were the names of the audio speakers and the projector.
