To Obey or Disobey
Obedience is an age old expectation that rulers, priests, and government officials have required for
years from their subjects. Most of the time individuals follow their leaders without question. This is
the case because the population from which obedience is required believes that they continue to have a
choice. When, for whatever reason this belief is lost, some individuals will begin to exhibit an
increasing disobedience to the requirement. This often increases to the point of violence or, the case of
a country, war. While there are all types of disobedience, this paper will discuss civil disobedience and
the social pressure often associated with it.
A good example of this type of cycle can be found in the historical background ... Show more content

Universities over time have done a lot of research trying to understand why people obey and disobey.
Most people believe they are good and trustworthy. These individuals feel no matter what occurs they
will always try to do the right thing in their day to day life. In The Perils of Obedience, Milgram tells
of a woman that the last shock she administered to the learner was extremely painful and reiterates
that she did not want to be responsible for any harm to him . (695). Despite her desires she still
administered the shock, thus being obedient to the person in charge and not to what she believed.
Individuals who still believe in the concept called into question by the disobedient group, often feel
intense pressure to maintain loyalty to the old ruling entity. In Doris Lessing s article, Group Minds,
she states But the majority will continue to insist speaking metaphorically that black is white, and after
a period of exasperation, irritation, even anger, certainly incomprehension, the minority will fall into
line .(724) Pressure to conform can manifest itself in another way as well.. Individuals may feel
compelled to follow the ideas and rules of someone else and follow that group of people no matter
what path it my lead them down or where those ideas and rules may take them. Social pressure comes
from everywhere; family, church, friends, jobs, co workers, and etc.. During the

Character Analysis Of Tony Kaye s The Night
A tattoo so bold that it stops all in its path, causing controversy throughout the masses, and the
reflection of a shrinking man who sold his soul to the devil. Tony Kaye uses mise en scene to
represent a revelation in both of the brother s lives. Not only do they show remorse but also see self
change from within both characters. In this frame we see Derek coming out of the shower, he has a
towel wrapped around his waist and is looking at his reflection in the mirror. Derek s body is angled
so that his tattoo is being highlighted by the key lighting. In this frame Derek appears to be caught off
guard by the sight of his tattoo, which suggests to us as the audience that he isn t happy with his
former self, unknown to him that his life would change forever. The first of its kind we see Derek in
colour. Looking at his reflection in a small bathroom mirror, filled with regret for his brutal actions he
has now acknowledged he needs to change. The symbolism of reflection allows the audience is able to
make a deep connection. It allows us to feel the regrets that Derek has. We all stand in front of a
mirror at some point and think I regret doing that. We reflect on ourselves as a person this is exactly
what Derek is doing, and it seems as if his tattoo is haunting him of his past choices. His tattoo is
permanent just like his decision to kill the two black men. Previous to this frame we see a close up of
the water coming out of the shower onto Derek s head, this falls into

Fahrenheit 451 Deuteragonism Analysis
The protagonist and deuteragonist in Fahrenheit 451 are introduced as having opposing views on
society. Montague, the main character is initially shown to be a conforming individual. This is
confirmed by the mention that for him It was a pleasure to burn ... a special pleasure to see things
eaten, to see things blackened and changed (Bradbury 1). The description shows that the protagonist
felt no sense of guilt for his actions and that he believed that there was nothing wrong with what he
was doing. The deuteragonist, on the other hand, is shown to be an open minded individual. Her
objectivity of thought is clearly demonstrated by the conversation she has with Montague. Statements

Why The Creative Accounting Is Important Factors Essay
Financial reports are one of the most important factors on evaluating whether an organisation has met
its objectives and goals, and also has satisfied its directors, lenders, and other stakeholders. Although
the relevant accounting and financial standards, regulations, and frameworks are established for the
fair and reliable presentation of financial reports, there are still fraud issues from manipulating
financial information. Due to the recent global economic crisis, corporates tend to use creative
accounting to maximise their profit and financial performance, and it seems to result in some serious
financial frauds. A lot of questions come up with this creative accounting technique as well as the
relation to corporate governance and frauds. It obviously has some negative results from inappropriate
use of creative accounting but, on the other hand, it could be useful to present a company s interests
better within laws and regulations. This essay will elaborate what the creative accounting is, why
companies use this accounting method, both positive and negative views of using creative accounting
with appropriate examples and cases, and possible recommendations to improve the accounting
standards and systems. Firstly the definition of creative accounting and how corporate governance and
fraud are connected to creative accounting should be discussed. Creative accounting defines that a
company uses the accounting knowledge to distort the financial figures but by following

Information on Laissez-faire and Court Injuction
1. Court Injuction
2. Laissez faire
Recording to the Union County College Laissez faire an economic and political doctrine that holds
that economies function most efficiently when unencumbered by government regulation. Laissez faire
advocates favor individual self interest and competition, and oppose the taxation and regulation of
commerce. Leave it alone The concept came from the economic theories of Adam Smith, the 18th
century Scot whose writings greatly influenced the growth of American capitalism. Smith believed
that private interests should have a free rein. As long as markets were free and competitive, he said,
the actions of private individuals, motivated by self interest, would work together for the greater good
of society. Smith did favor some forms of government intervention, mainly to establish the ground
rules for free enterprise. But it was his advocacy of laissez faire practices that earned him favor in
America, a country built on faith in the individual and distrust of authority. Laissez faire practices
have not prevented private interests from turning to the government for help on numerous occasions,
however. Railroad companies accepted grants of land and public subsidies in the 19th century.
Industries facing strong competition from abroad have long appealed for protections through trade
policy. American agriculture, almost totally in private hands, has benefited from government
assistance. Many other industries also have sought and received

Courage In Charles Doyle s The True Confessions Of...
Take chances, make mistakes. That s how you grow. Pain nourishes your courage. You have to fail in
order to practice being brave. Mary Tyler Moore. This quote means that if you take chances you will
make mistakes, making mistakes is a part of your life, pain strengthens you, and failing makes you
braver. In the story, The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle, the readers learn from Charlotte s
adventures that there is many times to be brave, which is part of the theme, being brave is sometimes
the only choice.
In the story, The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle, Charlotte walks down to top steerage, where
her luggage is, to get a couple of her belongings. When she s down there, she sees a mysterious face
staring at her. She doesn t know who it is. It s neither Captain Jaggery or the crew. She walks up to it
slowly and finds out it s not alive, it s a fake face. She starts up the ladder but realizes she forgot her
clothes. When she climbs back down to get her clothes, she sees another face, she realizes this face it
alive. She had no idea who the face was. (Chapter 6 7, Pgs 70 71) This relates to the theme because
here Charlotte had to be very brave to go up to the face, go back down to get her things, and having to
go down there when she needed something from her luggage. She won t know if the face will hurt her
when she s down there and she won t know if the face is still down there.
Later in the story, Charlotte goes to find a needle for Mr. Ewing. When she was

Agriculture Interview
What do you think about when someone says Agriculture ? I think about all the hard working men and
women who have jobs associated with agriculture. For example, veterinarians, agronomists, wildlife
inspectors, and even my ag teacher. Today, I have interviewed my cousin, Sarah Marx, to help build
interest for myself as well as others in agriculture. Sarah grew up in Beemer, Nebraska. So, agriculture
has been an interest of her s her entire life. Sarah was apart of the Beemer Dreemers 4 H club for 12
years where she showed rabbits and helped with the other livestock shows. Now, Sarah lives on a farm
in Wisner, Nebraska where she has a horse training camp. She is also one of the Beemer Dreemers
club leaders.
Sarah has a job in accounting and quality control at Central Plains Milling in Howells, Nebraska.

Physicians evaluating clinical chemistry data from patients subjected to short term food or sleep
deprivation should take the physiological state into account in their assessment.
Key words: survival training, starvation, sleep deprivation, metabolism, ketones
Introduction
Training to handle prolonged emergency or survival situations is carried out in civilian and military
contexts.
During such training the participants are usually subjected to simultaneous deprivation of many basic
needs such as food, water, rest, sleep, and company. Although there are reports published on some
clinical chemistry changes during such multiple deprivation (MD) training, no attempts have been
made to disentangle different factors. In this study we compare the impact of sleep deprivation (SD)
with food deprivation (FD) on a range of clinical chemistry variables and body weight and compare
the outcome of each on a smaller number of variables measured during civilian MD survival training.
Effects on cognitive function,1 cholesterol synthesis regulation,2 and hepcidine 25 levels3 have been
reported in detail previously. The implications for evaluation of clinical chemistry data are discussed.

Discipus Reflection Paper
Jesus is sending his disciples, sheep, to be among the men who are persecutors, wolves. He is also
warning them that they will experience troubles on the way from the governments, courts and also
their friends and families. However, he is saying that going into trial is not bad because in these
moments they have their advantage to spread His word so they can see the glory. Jesus says not to
worry when they are arrested because God will help them with what to say. Throughout the New
Testament Jesus is compared to a shepherd leading and protecting his flock, but this scripture Jesus is
not there among the sheep protecting them. The disciples have been sharing the good news about
Jesus and once he is sacrificed, resurrected into heaven, he will not be there physically for the
disciples to have nearby and protect them. They will be the sheep among the wolves needing to protect
for themselves. Whenever the government has a conflict with God s word, Jesus is the one who steps
in to share a parable and let the pharisees know what God s law is, but once he goes to Heaven, he will
not be around to speak on behalf of God. The disciples will be on there own and Jesus is trying to
prepare them for this.
Jesus knows the disciples will be weak and defenseless without him there to step in and help, but
through this scripture, he continues to prepare his disciples for what they need to do when spreading
the word and others are in disbelief. When people can physically see

The Evolution Of Drama In Everyman, Dr. Faustus, And...
The evolution of Drama happened as far back as 6th century BC in Greece. The Ancient Greeks took
entertainment very grimly and utilized drama as a way of investigating the world they lived in and
discovered what it is like to be a human. The Greeks composed dramas into three types which include
comedy, satyr plays, and tragedy, the most important type of Drama. The most well known plays
include Everyman, Dr. Faustus, and Twelfth Night. These plays utilizes themes such as the struggle of
good and evil for the human soul, power, society and class, and gender, all which represent humanism.
Everyman utilizes The dominant theme of good and evil for the human soul (psychomania), usually
depicted in the life span of a representative figure with a name like Mankind and Is devoted entirely to
the day of judgment that every individual human being must face eventually (Norton 507). The theme
of good and evil for the human soul represents humanism because it is known that everyone has
sinned and still fear death because they do not know where they will be when judgment day comes,
but at the same time, they know no one will live forever except God. Everyman significantly utilizes
the character Death throughout the story, only to be met with utter recognition and incomprehension.
For example, Everyman s
Martin 2 incomprehension is humorous even as it reveals him to be deeply unready for Death s
summons : he asks Death, Sholde I not agayne shortly? (Paulson 121). Everyman

Opioid Receptors
Most opioid drugs will elicit these analgesic effects through the activation of the opioid receptor
(McDonald Lambert, 2005). The currently available drugs that interact with opioid receptors include
morphine, codeine and naloxone. A
Opioid receptors are members of the G protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) family, which consists of 7
transmembrane domains linked together by 3 extracellular and 3 intracellular loops (Trescot et al.,
2008). The three different classes of opioid receptors are: opioid receptor, opioid receptor and opioid
receptor, which are distributed throughout the central and peripheral nervous systems (Trescot et al.,
2008). opioid receptors are associated with analgesia, euphoria and physical dependence and are
predominately located in the brainstem and thalamus (Trescot et al., 2008). opioid receptors, on the
other hand, are primarily found in limbic brain topography, brain stem and spinal cord, and are related
to dysphoria and analgesia (Trescot et al., 2008). Although opioid receptor mechanisms are poorly
understood, it has been indicated to also have psychomimetic effects (Trescot et al., 2008).

A comparison between Cosmogirl and Cosmopolitan . Two successful magazines. One woman s and

Would you read the same magazines as your daughter? Would you expect the contents in a magazine

I think that because teenagers are at very different stages of their lives to adults and therefore have

magazines. Magazines portray a fantasy lifestyle for many people and so they are attracted to, and

The Cosmo part of the title is in the same font as Cosmopolitan . This links it to the successful, well
loved, parent magazine. This automatically gives it credibility and attracts younger audiences who
want to be like the women in Cosmopolitan when they grow up. The girl part in the title obviously
suggests the target audience and the fact that it differs from Cosmopolitan . It could also appeal to a
younger audience because Cosmopolitan is abbreviated to Cosmo for this title and abbreviating words
is a trend amongst young people.
Secondly I am going to look at the next thing you would see after the title, the models. Both models
on Cosmopolitan and Cosmogirl are female because the audience is female and want a magazine that
can tell them how to look and act and the models are examples. They are around the expected age of
the readers and are maybe what the magazines editors picture as their ideal reader. They reflect what
the magazine stands for and the position of that age group at the time. For example, a magazine aimed
at eleven to twelve year olds would have a younger model on the cover and it would be girlier than a
magazine aimed at teenagers aged fifteen to seventeen.
In the case of my magazines the cover girls are very attractive but in different ways. The model for
Cosmopolitan is aged around twenty whereas the model for

Government s Immense Control Over the American Population...
When a politician speaks does it cross the minds of others to truly believe and trust that they know
what they are talking about? What is politics? Politics is the art or science of government, especially
the governing of a political entity, such as a nation, and the administration and control of its internal
and external affairs (Politics Definition). The government regulates or censors everything from what
we watch on TV to what the future of America (i.e. children) learns at school. Is this type of control
necessarily a good thing? Politics and politicians alike should not have as much power in the control
of the lives of people. Most laws have been passed for the personal gain of those it is implied to help.

Although censorship in some cases is a necessary thing, for example, children s programming, kids do
not need to be exposed to that sort of information. Adults need that information because, they re the
ones who are voting and taking a control of the nation. At the high school level the students need to

Film Analysis Of The Film Divergent
The movie Divergent is set in a dystopian society that is divided into five factions. Teenagers of the
society are to choose if they want to stay in their faction, or switch to another. The decision is very
important because they are in that faction for the rest of their lives. The factions are, Abnegation,
Dauntless, Erudite, Candor, and Amity. They each are fit for certain types of people. The main
character Tris Prior has to make a decision to stay with her family in a faction she is not very fit for or
transfer to another one and leave her family. The director provides an anxious tone that keeps the
audience anticipating for disaster to strike. The camera people of this movie use different techniques
for different scenes, giving the audience an idea of what will happen. The first technique that was
noticed is the close shot, where the camera is very close to one s face or separate body part. The effect
that it has on a person watching is that something unexpected, or close happened. In this scene, they
used this technique because a knife has been at Tris as she dodges it. This technique has a way of
giving the audience fright or thinking woah, that was close. The next technique noticed was the
longshot. The longshot is where it shows people s full bodies and the landscape around them, making
it easier for the audience to know the exact setting. In the movie, they used the longshot when people
were jumping off of the building, as it showed multiple people. This

With the business internal control out of control I would recommend to hire an accountant with
extensive internal audit situation with businesses that was in a similar state. A company executive
should be placed as project head to work with the auditor. This will help to give the auditor a clear
understanding of where the company is and the direction it wants to go. By them working together the
executive offers the business plan of what they want and the auditor offers the expertise and
experience in process to get the company there. The sooner the company hires an internal auditor the
sooner the business internal control system can be turned around.

An Unfolding of William Blake s quot; the Chimney...
An Unfolding of William Blake s The Chimney Sweeper.
William Blake s poem The Chimney Sweeper gives us a look into the unfortunate lives of 18th
century London boys whose primary job was to clear chimneys of the soot that accumulated on its
interior; boys that were named climbing boys or chimney sweepers. Blake, a professional engraver,
wrote this poem (aabb rhyme), in the voice of a young boy, an uneducated chimney sweeper. This
speaker is obviously a persona, a fictitious character created by Blake, as it is apparent that he wasn t a
child or a chimney sweeper at the time he wrote this poem.
The Chimney Sweeper is divided in six stanzas; the first stanza of this narrative poem starts off with
the young chimney sweeper, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The voice of the story, the young boy, in the seventh verse showed compassion for the new climbing
boy and by doing this he made visible to us that the real child in him had not died, that although he
had to work in conditions that were not suitable for a boy his age, he still kept his humanity.
In the poem s next 2 stanzas the narrator speaks about a dream that Tom Dacre had the same day his
youth was taken from him. He had dreamt that sweepers whom he knew where all of them locked up
in coffins of black. The black color of these coffins means, according to the Oxford English
Dictionary, seriously bad or unfortunate, associated with severely bad conditions or misfortune. The
coffins, which are a container in which a dead body is placed for a burial (OED), represent all of them
being trapped in this miserable black world where, ironically, children worked to make money for
adults. The entire dream is influenced by Tom s fear of being trapped in this hell for all his life. Later,
in the fifth stanza an Angel appeared in Tom s dream that opened up the
coffins and set them free of their misfortune. This angel that freed them can be
considered as an omen, a sign that shows how something, good or bad, will happen in the future. Tom
ran down a flat expanse of land with the sweepers where they had fun and washed themselves up. The
words bright and shine Blake used in verses thirteen

I establish that Adele had the platform to make this speech because she was given the power to do so.
The Academy awards handed this power to her literally in the form of an award and in turn, the
Grammy awards exposed the underlying racial problems they have been hounded about for years. It is
worth noting that mainstream categories like the Record of the Year, Album of the Year and Song of
the Year , Adele was nominated for are considered to be white privileged while other categories like
Best R n b and Best Urban contemporary album are considered to be black . These awards meant to
celebrate artists have become boxes in the forms of categories designed to zone artists based on race.
This play of power in the form of white privilege and its use to box black artists will be best
understood from a historical and relatable perspective. The New york Times offers an informatory
perspective from which we can understand how the Grammys conceptually segregate artists. Then, the
pattern of conceptual segregation will exposed by examining racial zoning in early urban planning
movements and its relation to conceptual segregation. Most importantly, Adele s speech provides a

The Upside of Down syndrome
Down syndrome is a common chromosomal disorder that is caused by abnormal cell division resulting
in extra genetic material from Chromosome 21. Down syndrome occurs frequently in that 1 out of 800
babies are born with this disorder. Those born with Down syndrome tend to experience specific
physical characteristics, cognitive impairments, mental and medical help problems. Down syndrome is
extremely special to me because I grew up with an aunt who has this disorder. My aunt Lisa is
beautiful, funny, outgoing, and smart. She lives and enjoys life as it is thrown to her. Some days are
harder than others, but she is 62 years old and refuses to let her disability hinder her life. Down
syndrome is not who she is, but something she has.
Dr. John Langdon Down was an English physician who had a strong calling towards mental
retardation and was the first to describe what he felt was someone with Down syndrome. He based his
findings off of distinct characteristics. Before this syndrome got the name Down syndrome he used the
term Mongloid due to the similarities that were shared in the Mongolian race. It wasn t until later
when they determined the cause of Down syndrome, which is an extra chromosome. Therefore
making Down syndrome a chromosomal disorder. This condition is characterized by a combination of
major and minor differences in body structure. Typically, doctors are able to

War In Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried
Going to war is scary and sometimes traumatizing. It can affect men and woman for several of years
afterwards, even until death. You cannot just erase what these men and woman have witnessed and
been through. These brave souls have to carry the embarrassment, the shame, and the guilt with them
forever. Going to war, and having to do all the horrific things soldiers do, can cause them to have Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder. When away from home and out into a horrific world soldiers tend to think
more of the actual world, and imagine what they could be doing instead of what they re actually doing
at the moment, and that gets them sidetracked. While not paying attention, other soldiers from near
them or in their group are put into danger. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Men and woman carry an extra 100 150 pounds on their back. They carry jackets, pants, grenades,
guns, personal items, etc. But where it weighs the most is up top. The emotional baggage they carry is
heavier than the extra weight on their backs. Soldiers have to deal with the embarrassment, and the
shame and guilt they felt inside. After Ted Lavender was shot dead, Jimmy Cross felt shame, and he
hated himself. He had been focusing on someone who wasn t there with him, someone who didn t
even understand what was going on in his world. Cross had loved Martha more than his own men, and
in consequence Lavender was no longer there and he had to carry the burden of his death. They
carried the soldier s greatest fear, which was the fear of blushing. Men killed, and died, because they
were embarrassed not to. It was what had brought them to the war in the first place, nothing positive,
no dreams of glory or honor, just the blush of dishonor. They died so as not to die of embarrassment.
Men went to war out of embarrassment, they had fear of embarrassing themselves, their families, and
their town if they fled. They forever carry this with them, because they cannot just take the memory of

The History and Development of Sliced Bread Essay examples
What is the greatest invention? Many think of the printing press, the wheel, or the telegraph, but most
do not immediately consider sliced bread; yet, it is the invention to which all others are compared.
Without it, the phrase the best thing since sliced bread would not exist. Sliced bread had a greater
effect on the world than most realize. For example, the toaster was invented two years before sliced
bread, but after the invention, the sales of the toaster soared ( Fascinating Facts ). Sliced bread shaped
our perspective of food and convenience in America. Additionally, the way in which bread was sliced

there was a false prophet in Samaria was to show the sacred vessels that were supposedly to have been

Soldiers blocked the way, and a fight ensued
Prisoners were taken by Pilate and later executed
Due to amount of deaths Samaritan leaders went to Syria and complained.
This lead to the dismissal of Pilate.
Tradition has it that Pilate later commits suicide in disgrace
Pilate s life as a whole may be a mystery to many, but as seen today there are historical writings that
help us understand who Pilate was. Also seen today was the rocky relationship between the Jews and
Pilate. This gives un an interesting insight into the crucifixion. We know Pilate tried to please the
Jews, and we know that the religious leaders were not fond of him. Next week we will take a look at
the crucifixion, and the trial of Jesus. As noted earlier Pilate played a role in this, but how does his role
compare to Passover? Next week we will look into that, and I will show that Pilate s role is an
important one.

Essay about The Not So Patriot Act
The Not So Patriotic Patriot Act On September 11, 2001 the United States was attacked by a terrorist
group on our own soil. On October 26, 2011 the US Government signed into law the Uniting and
Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism
Act (USA Patriot Act). Only one and a half months after we were attacked physically by a terrorist
group, our government decided that we would be better off with a lot less freedom in order to better
protect America from terrorist attacks in the future. Although this seemed like an obvious need in
2001, now almost ten years later there is little evidence supporting a need for such an Act. The bottom
line is that the Patriot Act allows the US ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Section 213 was written into the Patriot Act as a way to sneak and peek locations before potential
criminals or evidence had a chance to be relocated. This would give law enforcement time to
completely search through someone s property either physically or electronically without their
knowledge of it. However, at some point, they were required to inform the party of their search. In
many cases, law enforcement works within a time limit during investigation of a case and Section 213
is intended to give law enforcement more leeway on how the fourth amendment is interpreted in
terrorist type cases. To sum up Section 213, agents, through very little proof of evidence, are able to
enter someone s house and do a full search of their property without any kind of notice. Obviously
when it is at the discretion of the officers, they will likely overuse this power to extend past just
possible terrorist attacks and call for the use of this section in other cases as well. Although there are
obvious issues with this ruling, Heather MacDonald in The Patriot Act Is No Slippery Slope argues
that this section is a critical part of the process of protecting Americans from terrorist attacks. She uses
an example of the FBI wanting to plumb Mohamed Atta s hard drive for evidence of a nascent terror
attack (Donald, p. 1). In the text she goes on to argue that by allowing Mr. Atta notice of the FBIs
intent to execute a search warrant on his property he would have

Yet, homework does have an advantage, it can build good study habits and grades. Homework helps
boost test scores tremendously. Since it s a practice assignment, students get a view of what they ll be
learning. Practice assignments do improve scores on class tests at all grade levels (Cooper). Students
can fully understand their new lesson when provided with homework. Everyone knows that by
practicing something, they can get better at it. This is the same idea with homework, students practice,
and eventually get pleasing grades. Although all grade levels can benefit from homework, it is really
beneficial to high schoolers. If a country like the U.S were to decrease the amount of homework
assigned to high school students, test scores would likely decrease unless additional supports were
added (O, Furniture). Unlike other countries, homework is a major part to lead to success. This proves
that students, especially high school ones, need homework to achieve the desirable scores they want.
Homework is also a great way to study for a test. Beyond achievement, proponents of
homework...claim it can help students develop good study habits so they are ready to grow as their
cognitive capacities mature (Cooper). Studying is a huge part in getting a pleasing grade in the
subject. When a student studies homework, they can comprehend what is being taught more clearly.

Comparison Of Nihilism In The West And Persia
On the other hand, the comparison between the nihilism in the West and its counterpart in Persia
shows us both of them were a reaction toward the situation of the time. In the West, nihilism was a
reaction that was created in response of great changes both in ideologies and in industraliaism. Indeed,
ideologies such as capitalism and individualism reinforced the creation and the spread of nihilism.
However, in Persia, nihilism was an imported ideology and a reaction that was created as a result of
the foreigner s invasions. While it was usually suppressed through using appropriate literature and

The Problem With Drugs And Drugs Essay
Denying you have a problem with drugs when the facts demonstrate otherwise is one of the greatest
hindrances to recovery. After all, what is there to recover from if you don t have a problem?
But deep inside you know the truth. It s like the person who drinks a case of beer every day yet denies
being an alcoholic because It s only beer, not the hard stuff. For the opioid addict, similar excuses are
It s only painkillers, not heroin, I only snort, never inject, or My friends use more me.
You have an addiction because opioids control you and adversely affect most every aspect of your life.
Accepting that you are an addict is long overdue.
Let s look at where you are in the scheme of things. Are you wondering if treatment is the right for
you or if this is the right time to do it? Are you seeking treatment because a family member, friend,
employer, or the court is pushing you in that direction? I hope you want to recover for the most
important reason of all you are sick and tired of being on the addiction merry go round and want to
stop using.
Where you are starting from will likely determine how you will finish.
You must be willing to work for change for change to happen. Don t expect sobriety to take hold
unless you are willing to work for it. It s as basic as that. You can probably come up with a thousand
and one excuses why you keep using, but not one is doing you any good because of the negative
consequences you experience from using.

Dr. Phil Mcgraw s Relationship Rescue
Relationship Rescue
In Dr. Phil McGraw s Relationship Rescue , Dr. Phil uses a combination of personal advice,
experience and reader participation to provide help to those who feel their relationship is failing.
Throughout the book, Dr. Phil strongly encourages the reader to actively engage by writing down their
feelings, answering very personal questions about themselves and their significant other, and to put
motion into your emotion. Meaning take action, and if you re emotionally unhappy, it is time to
physically do something about it. The author is eager to successfully help couples put their
relationships back together and allow it to thrive in new ways. Throughout the book, Dr. Phil McGraw
proves that even though he sometimes prompted difficult and uncomfortable conversations,
communication was and always will be one of the most important elements of a relationship.
In the first and second chapter of Relationship Rescue, Dr. Phil s main focus is you (the reader) then
moving forward to the relationship. He claims that Rescuing your relationship means rescuing you.
The point here is to help the reader understand that in order to be happy in their relationship, they need
to be happy with themselves first. He explains that if you get yourself straight you re creating a
happier lifestyle, and by doing this your partner will be seriously affected. Explaining that even
though you cannot change your partner, your actions could potentially inspire them. Dr. Phil

Financial Crisis Related On The Subprime Mortgage Market...
b. RELIANCE
Another component of fraud crimes is reliance. For the government to prevail on fraud charges, it has
to establish reasonable reliance on the alleged misrepresentations or omissions. Most financial crisis
related investigations focused on mortgage backed securities that banks sold consisted of subprime
mortgages that are doomed to be defaulted. The misrepresentation argument goes that banks failed to
disclose the low quality of the mortgages and substantial risks of default that are associated with them.
However, banks can conveniently raise the defense that the securities are sold to sophisticated
investors, such as pension funds and mutual funds, who could have known what was going on in the
subprime mortgage market and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The court found that as a sophisticated participant in the financial market, the buyer should have, and
easily could have, protected itself from misrepresentation by demanding that it see the report prior to a
closing. Therefore, it seems that the context of the transaction does not play into government s favor.
5. Institutional Failures
The current institutional set up and operations also contributed to the lack of prosecutions against bank
executives regarding their wrongdoings leading to the financial crisis. First, regulators and agencies
are short staffed. Second, regulators and agencies determined other types of prosecutions as their
priorities over financial crisis related investigations. Third, there is the lacking in coordination
between regulators and a consolidated national task force focusing on the criminal prosecutions
related to financial crisis.
a. Short Staffed It is notable about the number of staff and funding has been allocated to investigating
banks and bank executives: not many. Judge Rakoff noted that FBI had more than one thousand agents
assigned to investigating financial frauds before September 11 and only had 120 agents reviewing
more than 50,000 mortgage fraud reports filed by banks in the years leading to the financial crisis.
Funding wise, although the Fraud Enforcement and

Grill Steak
How to Grill the Perfect Steak There is nothing worse than showing up to a barbeque expecting a nice
juicy steak; only to receive some over cooked, dry, and hard as a rock piece of beef jerky the cook
wants to pass off as a steak. Knowing how to how to properly grill a steak is an essential skill needed
to be a good cook. Properly grilling a steak can separate the men from the boys and might even
impress a lady or two. There are five steps to grilling the perfect steak, choosing the best meat for the
job, letting the flavor of the beef be the hero, Temperature of the grill and steak, letting the meat rest,
and last but no least digging in! Time to choose the meat! The meat is the most important part of this
whole process. Knowing what cut of beef to gill can make or break a barbeque. Most people believe
that a filet or a tenderloin are the best cut for gilling; while it is probably the most tender cut out there
being best is debatable. Filets sacrifice flavor to be so tender which is why they rely on the seasoning
or sauce to give it a better flavor. Then there are ribeyes, ribeyes have amazing flavor but tend to be
fattier. Lastly there is the New York strip which kind of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No matter how much make up you put on a pig at the end of the day it s still a pig. Salt and butter
should be the only seasoning used while grilling steaks. If quality steaks are being used then the last
thing that should be tasted is a super sugary marinade or barbeque sauce. If there are too many flavors
then the true flavor of the steak disappears. Salt the meat for at least 40 minutes before cooking. The
salt will slowly work its way deep in to the steak seasoning the whole steak not just the outside. Butter
on the other hand should be applied to the steak while grilling. When the steak is grilled the fat in the
steak opens up and absorbs more flavor so a light coating of butter really enhances the overall flavor

Glass Menagerie-Personal Narrative
As I walk to the bus stop the next day, I remember the horrifying conversation that I had last night
with my mom. I still can t actually wrap my mind around the fact that I will almost 99% be moving to
San Francisco. Even though the supportive side won the battle last night, I don t know which side will
win the war. I m starting to forget about everything, until I see Kensie standing at my locker. Uh oh, I
think, fear creeping inside me. I haven t even thought about how I m going to tell Kensie. I try to act
nonchalant as I walk up to my locker. Hey, Kensie! I say. I hope she can t tell something is wrong by
my voice. Hey, Morgan she replies. So far, I don t think she can tell anything is wrong. We talk, as we

Each day since, has been just like the day I told her. We talk, but it s not like we used to. It s like that
me telling her, has separated us somehow. Or it is Kensie. Maybe she is trying to separate us, so it will
maybe be easier for her when I leave. I m not really sure what is going on. When I get home from
school, I see that my mom isn t home. The last time she was late, was when she found out she was
getting a promotion. Oh no, I think, what if she found out that were not moving to San Francisco, but
we re moving someplace even worse, like Alaska or Antarctica? I sit at the kitchen table, waiting for
her to get home. Finally, after what seems like forever, I hear the garage door open. I hear the door
open, and then I hear something I was definitely not expecting. Morgan! Guess what! Guess What!
she says. She looks so excited I think her head might explode. I look at her expectantly, waiting for
her to tell me. Okay, Morgan you might want to sit down for this, she says, a little more calmly but she
still has a big smile on her face. Um, okay, Mom, I say, not really sure what is going on. As soon as I
sit down, she says, Morgan, we re not moving to San Francisco. Great, just what I expected, I think,
sarcastically ,We re moving to

Founders Day The Track Reflection
On September 15th, one of my first few days at Townsend Harris, I came to English 1 during Band 7
and when I sat down to look at the board, my first reaction was to be confused. Founders Day: The
Track Project wasn t a phrase I d heard of from any friends or upperclassmen. After going through a
lesson about the Flushing Remonstrance and it s relations to the rivalry between Townsend Harris and
Peter Stuyvesant, I was reluctant to hear about the project. I d guessed that it would be a bland and
was pleasantly surprised to hear that we would have options. Of these four options, I figured I wouldn
t have the resources or the time to complete the film track (which would likely have to be done outside
of school with a camera) and figured journalism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I found that when there was a set plan for every day, I had motivation to finish what I was doing
because I had a point in mind where I would be able to stop and reward myself by knowing that I was
on task and on schedule. There were other groups that were finishing their work on Friday and
continuing to work on it even on Saturday but we were able to finish a day early due to our detailed
plans and deadlines that we set for ourselves. I found that students at Townsend Harris work hard and
get schoolwork done. At my old school, group projects were always a real pain because I would
always end up doing all of the work. Here, well at least in my group, everyone did their fair share. In
the process of this, I also learned a lot about Townsend Harris as a person as well as how Townsend
Harris High School was created. Townsend Harris funded the founding of City College and allowed it
to become possible. After City College was closed down by LaGuardia, Townsend Harris High School
was founded by alumni of the

  • 2. To Obey or Disobey Obedience is an age old expectation that rulers, priests, and government officials have required for years from their subjects. Most of the time individuals follow their leaders without question. This is the case because the population from which obedience is required believes that they continue to have a choice. When, for whatever reason this belief is lost, some individuals will begin to exhibit an increasing disobedience to the requirement. This often increases to the point of violence or, the case of a country, war. While there are all types of disobedience, this paper will discuss civil disobedience and the social pressure often associated with it. A good example of this type of cycle can be found in the historical background ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (724) Universities over time have done a lot of research trying to understand why people obey and disobey. Most people believe they are good and trustworthy. These individuals feel no matter what occurs they will always try to do the right thing in their day to day life. In The Perils of Obedience, Milgram tells of a woman that the last shock she administered to the learner was extremely painful and reiterates that she did not want to be responsible for any harm to him . (695). Despite her desires she still administered the shock, thus being obedient to the person in charge and not to what she believed. Individuals who still believe in the concept called into question by the disobedient group, often feel intense pressure to maintain loyalty to the old ruling entity. In Doris Lessing s article, Group Minds, she states But the majority will continue to insist speaking metaphorically that black is white, and after a period of exasperation, irritation, even anger, certainly incomprehension, the minority will fall into line .(724) Pressure to conform can manifest itself in another way as well.. • 3. Character Analysis Of Tony Kaye s The Night A tattoo so bold that it stops all in its path, causing controversy throughout the masses, and the reflection of a shrinking man who sold his soul to the devil. Tony Kaye uses mise en scene to represent a revelation in both of the brother s lives. Not only do they show remorse but also see self change from within both characters. In this frame we see Derek coming out of the shower, he has a towel wrapped around his waist and is looking at his reflection in the mirror. Derek s body is angled so that his tattoo is being highlighted by the key lighting. In this frame Derek appears to be caught off guard by the sight of his tattoo, which suggests to us as the audience that he isn t happy with his former self, unknown to him that his life would change forever. The first of its kind we see Derek in colour. Looking at his reflection in a small bathroom mirror, filled with regret for his brutal actions he has now acknowledged he needs to change. The symbolism of reflection allows the audience is able to make a deep connection. It allows us to feel the regrets that Derek has. We all stand in front of a mirror at some point and think I regret doing that. We reflect on ourselves as a person this is exactly what Derek is doing, and it seems as if his tattoo is haunting him of his past choices. His tattoo is permanent just like his decision to kill the two black men. Previous to this frame we see a close up of the water coming out of the shower onto Derek s head, this falls into ... Montague, the main character is initially shown to be a conforming individual. This is confirmed by the mention that for him It was a pleasure to burn ... a special pleasure to see things eaten, to see things blackened and changed (Bradbury 1). The description shows that the protagonist felt no sense of guilt for his actions and that he believed that there was nothing wrong with what he was doing. The deuteragonist, on the other hand, is shown to be an open minded individual. Her objectivity of thought is clearly demonstrated by the conversation she has with Montague. • 5. Why The Creative Accounting Is Important Factors Essay Financial reports are one of the most important factors on evaluating whether an organisation has met its objectives and goals, and also has satisfied its directors, lenders, and other stakeholders. Although the relevant accounting and financial standards, regulations, and frameworks are established for the fair and reliable presentation of financial reports, there are still fraud issues from manipulating financial information. Due to the recent global economic crisis, corporates tend to use creative accounting to maximise their profit and financial performance, and it seems to result in some serious financial frauds. A lot of questions come up with this creative accounting technique as well as the relation to corporate governance and frauds. It obviously has some negative results from inappropriate use of creative accounting but, on the other hand, it could be useful to present a company s interests better within laws and regulations. This essay will elaborate what the creative accounting is, why companies use this accounting method, both positive and negative views of using creative accounting with appropriate examples and cases, and possible recommendations to improve the accounting standards and systems. Firstly the definition of creative accounting and how corporate governance and fraud are connected to creative accounting should be discussed. Creative accounting defines that a company uses the accounting knowledge to distort the financial figures but by following ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Information on Laissez-faire and Court Injuction 1. Court Injuction 2. Laissez faire Recording to the Union County College Laissez faire an economic and political doctrine that holds that economies function most efficiently when unencumbered by government regulation. Laissez faire advocates favor individual self interest and competition, and oppose the taxation and regulation of commerce. Leave it alone The concept came from the economic theories of Adam Smith, the 18th century Scot whose writings greatly influenced the growth of American capitalism. Smith believed that private interests should have a free rein. As long as markets were free and competitive, he said, the actions of private individuals, motivated by self interest, would work together for the greater good of society. Smith did favor some forms of government intervention, mainly to establish the ground rules for free enterprise. But it was his advocacy of laissez faire practices that earned him favor in America, a country built on faith in the individual and distrust of authority. Laissez faire practices have not prevented private interests from turning to the government for help on numerous occasions, however. Railroad companies accepted grants of land and public subsidies in the 19th century. Industries facing strong competition from abroad have long appealed for protections through trade policy. American agriculture, almost totally in private hands, has benefited from government assistance. Many other industries also have sought and received ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Discipus Reflection Paper Jesus is sending his disciples, sheep, to be among the men who are persecutors, wolves. He is also warning them that they will experience troubles on the way from the governments, courts and also their friends and families. However, he is saying that going into trial is not bad because in these moments they have their advantage to spread His word so they can see the glory. Jesus says not to worry when they are arrested because God will help them with what to say. Throughout the New Testament Jesus is compared to a shepherd leading and protecting his flock, but this scripture Jesus is not there among the sheep protecting them. The disciples have been sharing the good news about Jesus and once he is sacrificed, resurrected into heaven, he will not be there physically for the disciples to have nearby and protect them. They will be the sheep among the wolves needing to protect for themselves. Whenever the government has a conflict with God s word, Jesus is the one who steps in to share a parable and let the pharisees know what God s law is, but once he goes to Heaven, he will not be around to speak on behalf of God. The disciples will be on there own and Jesus is trying to prepare them for this. Jesus knows the disciples will be weak and defenseless without him there to step in and help, but through this scripture, he continues to prepare his disciples for what they need to do when spreading the word and others are in disbelief. • 13. The Evolution Of Drama In Everyman, Dr. Faustus, And... The evolution of Drama happened as far back as 6th century BC in Greece. The Ancient Greeks took entertainment very grimly and utilized drama as a way of investigating the world they lived in and discovered what it is like to be a human. The Greeks composed dramas into three types which include comedy, satyr plays, and tragedy, the most important type of Drama. The most well known plays include Everyman, Dr. Faustus, and Twelfth Night. The currently available drugs that interact with opioid receptors include morphine, codeine and naloxone. A Opioid receptors are members of the G protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) family, which consists of 7 transmembrane domains linked together by 3 extracellular and 3 intracellular loops (Trescot et al., 2008). The three different classes of opioid receptors are: opioid receptor, opioid receptor and opioid receptor, which are distributed throughout the central and peripheral nervous systems (Trescot et al., 2008). opioid receptors are associated with analgesia, euphoria and physical dependence and are predominately located in the brainstem and thalamus (Trescot et al., 2008). opioid receptors, on the other hand, are primarily found in limbic brain topography, brain stem and spinal cord, and are related to dysphoria and analgesia (Trescot et al., 2008). William Blake s poem The Chimney Sweeper gives us a look into the unfortunate lives of 18th century London boys whose primary job was to clear chimneys of the soot that accumulated on its interior; boys that were named climbing boys or chimney sweepers. Blake, a professional engraver, wrote this poem (aabb rhyme), in the voice of a young boy, an uneducated chimney sweeper. This speaker is obviously a persona, a fictitious character created by Blake, as it is apparent that he wasn t a child or a chimney sweeper at the time he wrote this poem. The voice of the story, the young boy, in the seventh verse showed compassion for the new climbing boy and by doing this he made visible to us that the real child in him had not died, that although he had to work in conditions that were not suitable for a boy his age, he still kept his humanity. In the poem s next 2 stanzas the narrator speaks about a dream that Tom Dacre had the same day his youth was taken from him. He had dreamt that sweepers whom he knew where all of them locked up in coffins of black. The black color of these coffins means, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, seriously bad or unfortunate, associated with severely bad conditions or misfortune. The coffins, which are a container in which a dead body is placed for a burial (OED), represent all of them being trapped in this miserable black world where, ironically, children worked to make money for adults. The entire dream is influenced by Tom s fear of being trapped in this hell for all his life. Later, in the fifth stanza an Angel appeared in Tom s dream that opened up the coffins and set them free of their misfortune. This angel that freed them can be considered as an omen, a sign that shows how something, good or bad, will happen in the future. Tom ran down a flat expanse of land with the sweepers where they had fun and washed themselves up. The words bright and shine Blake used in verses thirteen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Down syndrome occurs frequently in that 1 out of 800 babies are born with this disorder. Those born with Down syndrome tend to experience specific physical characteristics, cognitive impairments, mental and medical help problems. In many cases, law enforcement works within a time limit during investigation of a case and Section 213 is intended to give law enforcement more leeway on how the fourth amendment is interpreted in terrorist type cases. To sum up Section 213, agents, through very little proof of evidence, are able to enter someone s house and do a full search of their property without any kind of notice. Obviously when it is at the discretion of the officers, they will likely overuse this power to extend past just possible terrorist attacks and call for the use of this section in other cases as well. Although there are obvious issues with this ruling, Heather MacDonald in The Patriot Act Is No Slippery Slope argues that this section is a critical part of the process of protecting Americans from terrorist attacks. She uses an example of the FBI wanting to plumb Mohamed Atta s hard drive for evidence of a nascent terror attack (Donald, p. 1). In the text she goes on to argue that by allowing Mr. Atta notice of the FBIs intent to execute a search warrant on his property he would have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
