Family Story And Origin Of A New Environment
Every family story and origin is unique to the members of the immediate group, while including the
traditions passed from generation to generation. From the scent of their house and clothes, special
holidays, vacation spots, memories, what they eat and how it is served; all of these elements of life are
distinct to a family. These elements are incorporated into what is viewed as normal life in a way that
we don t see how our lives differ from those around us, until we are faced with a situation where
things are done differently than us. Many families contain multi cultural backgrounds, therefore
providing generations with traditions that include folklore from different origins. One of the biggest
elements of culture how dishes are served and prepared. If you ever travel, one of the biggest
attractions to a new environment is the food that is served in that area. Some food traditions are
difficult to explain and don t make sense to outsiders, but to the family or local group it is a sense of
definition and unity through foodways. In Louisiana especially, with Cajun culture, we see many
festivals and events that are food based, and the pride in the locals that serve it. My family, all born
and raised in the South, participate in the spicy food, crawfish boils, jambalaya sales, gumbo cooking
events that this culture offers. From a young age I can remember waking up on a Saturday morning in
the fall, feeling the crisp air flow through the house as we had the windows open,

Sleep Apne An Essential Part Of Everyday Life Essay
Introduction and Pertinent Anatomy and Physiology: Sleep is an essential part of everyday life. It is
one of several components which help keep us alive. However, a significant percentage of the human
population has difficulty reaching and maintaining Stage IV within their sleeping patterns, the stage
that allows the mind and body to fall into a deep and restorative sleep, known as REM sleep. This is a
condition known as obstructive sleep apnea, a serious, potentially life threatening condition that is far
more common than generally understood (Sleep Apnea n.d.). Obstructive sleep apnea can be very
dangerous if it is not properly detected and treated. Nearly 18 billion Americans today (or 1 out of
every 5) have a form of sleep apnea. About 4% of people are undiagnosed (or 1 out of 50). It can
occur in all age groups and different sexes. (Sleep Apnea n.d.) What is Sleep Apnea? Apnea means
without breathing. In many cases apnea is caused by tissue in the back of one s throat that collapses.
Sleep apnea is an involuntary cession of breathing that occurs during sleep. We have four stages of
sleep and the fifth being your REM sleep also know as rapid eye movement. In short stage 1(one) is
considered light sleep, stage 2 (two) eye movement stops and the brain waves become slower, in stage
3 (three) brain waves still continue to become slower and considered deep sleep, stage 4 (four) also is
called the deep sleep phase, and last REM sleep is when breathing becomes more rapid,

OBJECTIVE The main objective of this experiment is to carry out qualitative analysis to identify
metal cations in unknown solution 1. INTRODUCTION An unknown material can be determined by
using simple chemical tests and separations which is called as inorganic qualitative analysis. The
separation of cations depends on the difference in their propensity to form precipitates. Separation
scheme is used to classify cation into five groups on the basis of their physical and chemical behavior
opposed to some reagents. Classification is based on whether there is formation of precipitates or not
when metal cations react with the reagent. The five groups of cations and the characteristics of these
groups are as follows: i. Group I Ag+, Hg+, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Mission Movie Essay
The movie The Mission takes place during the Jesuit Reduction, which was a program that set up
Jesuit missionaries to teach Christianity to the natives. It tells a story of Father Gabriel ,a Spanish
Jesuit priest, who goes on to a quest to the South America Jungle to convert the community of Guarani
Indians to Christians. The film starts off by Father Gabriel making a journey to the Guarani
community. Once, he reaches the tribe they prepare to kill him but spare his life because he plays an
beautiful solo on his oboe. After a while Father Gabriel gains their trust and is accepted into their
tribe. On the other hand, Rodrigo Mendoza, a mercenary and slaver, catches his younger half brother

The Merger Of Sundown And Master Corporation
Introduction
Organizational Learning is continuous process of transferring knowledge within an organization. It
requires the organization to effectively detect inefficiencies and to respond by correcting any issues.
Organizational Learning is not defined by training classes, it is multi faceted way of operating. This
paper will outline how the merging of Sundown and Master Corporation can be integrated to the new
organizational culture of the merger.
The merger of Sundown and Master requires that the two organizations become a cohesive and
efficient organization. Applying basic principles of organizational learning should help assist in
fostering an environment of continuous systems thinking. We will examine how the two organizations
can apply the principles of organizational learning to help create sustained success.
Topic / Issue Identification The Sundown organization is the manufacturer of gimbals, which are high
quality camera mounts. The Master organization is an international electronics corporation. Master has
recently acquired Sundown. Along with Sundown, Master also owns a separate gimbal manufacturing
plant about 20 miles from the Sundown manufacturing plant. That plant is currently not meeting their
financial goals. Therefore, Master wants to merge the two organizations. The Master organization and
the Sundown organization have large variance in organizational culture. Sundown is a family owned
and operated and the executive management positions are filled by

Art Analysis Of Donatello By One Of The Patron Saint Mark
ART ANALYSIS: SAINT MARK The Italian artist Donatello was selected by one of the guilds in
Florence to make a sculpture of their patron Saint Mark, and Donatello delivered. In the early
fourteenth century, half of Florence s market hall was torn down to make room for Orsanmichele, a
meeting place for all the guilds of Florence. In 1339, each guild was given its own spot to personalize
and decorate. Though it took much more time than originally planned, in 1411, Donatello was chosen
by the linen drapers guild to sculpt Saint Mark as their display. Donatello chose to work with the less
expensive marble instead of bronze. His contract stated that the sculpture should be finished by
November of 1412, but this had to be extended, of course. Finally the statue was finished in 1413, and
truthfully the back of the statue was not fully completed because the back was not going to be
displayed. When Donatello finished this magnificent piece of art, the guild was actually quite critical
of the figure that stands seven feet nine inches tall. The figure was also profound because it used the
contrapposto stance, in which the figure is asymmetrical. This stance had been forgotten by artists all
throughout most of the Dark Ages, so to see it back in such a wondrous display was very important.
Donatello also considered the angle at which the statue of Saint Mark would be seen, from down
below. Donatello purposefully made Saint Mark s head and hands and torso elongated; this would be

AP World History Olympics DBQ
The modern Olympic movement has been shaped by many differentiating factors over the years. It has
been altered by social, political, and economic factors. More specifically, warring times, changes to
social structures, and economic activity that varies by country have been the overall leading factors
that have shaped the Olympics over the years. The Olympics have shown over the decades that they
can be affected by political conflict. However, it seems that this is the point of the Olympics, to
illustrate national pride, by competition. Bloodshed should not be the way for pride of one s country to
be shown, but it should be shown through competition, in the words of the founder of the modern
Olympic movement, Pierre de ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the dramatic increase in the fees paid to broadcast Atlanta s games illustrates the time of
peace after the Cold War ended, with over 800 million dollars being given to broadcast the games(9).
Finally, the Olympic games are altered by the diverse and changing social structures in the world. For
instance, in 1908 a photograph of British competitor Sybil Newall shooting her bow was found on
newspapers across England(2). Whether this photograph was staged to sell newspapers or not, it
cannot be denied that this photograph indicates the beginning of women s movement, which was
obviously an important issue during this time in the world. With more leniency being given to women
during this time, they were eventually being allowed to compete in the competitive events, though
only 2% of the athletes were women. This factor also continues to show during the 1992 games held
in Spain, where by then 29% of women were competing. Hassiba Boulmerka was an Algerian
competitor during this time and spoke in an interview about her critics, and how being the first
Algerian to win an Olympic title did not depend on her gender, but simply on her strength in her mind
and in body. Boulmerka was heavily criticized by Muslim groups in Algeria for wearing shorts as she
ran in the events. Despite this, the games illustrated the decreasing requirements for dresses and
increasing requests for

Suspended Basement Ceiling
One of the most important things to consider when remodeling your basement is the basement ceiling.
People find basement ceilings a bit hideous and if you are of the same opinion, then you need to do
something about it. Most people want their basement to be warm and cozy, instead of that desolate
look often acquainted with an unfinished basement. There are different basement ceiling ideas to make
your ceiling a place that you want it to be. Basement ceilings may either be dry walled or suspended.
You can choose which kind to install but always remember to add decorative touches in order to make
them look exactly like any other rooms in your home.

Leadership Qualities Of The Movie We Were Soldiers Essay
I can t promise you that I will bring you all home alive. But this I swear, before you and before
Almighty God, that when we go into battle, I will be the first to set foot on the field, and I will be the
last to step off, and I will leave no one behind. Dead or alive, we will all come home together. So help
me, God.
LT. Colonel Hal Moore The quote above personifies what type of person LT. Colonel Moore was. In
today s society you will rarely find individuals such as LTC. Hal Moore that exhibit those rare
qualities of what a leader should be. In this essay I will describe some of the leadership qualities that
are displayed in the movie We Were Soldiers. I will also discuss how the characteristics were
portrayed, evaluate the success or lack of for each, apply a real life situation and explain how his
leadership style affected those who followed.
The first of the leadership qualities that I will mention being proactive versus reactive. According to
the Holden Leadership Center at the University of Oregon (2009) being proactive is that The
exceptional leader is always thinking three steps ahead. Working to master his/her own environment
with the goal of avoiding problems before they arise. During the movie the soldiers are simulating
being dropped off in a hot area. LT. Colonel Moore saw an issues that involved a what if situation. He

Othello s Influence On The World Of Opera
Verdi s Othello has had a profound influence on the world of opera, and considered by many critics to
be his best work. Othello has been performed throughout the world, debuting in over 25 countries
within the first fifty years of its creation (Stanford). It has been performed all over the globe by world
renowned operettists, in theatres such as the Lincoln Center in New York, the Sydney Opera House in
Sydney, and the Bolshoi in Russia. Othello is about a general who is led to believe his wife is cheating
on him, when in reality she is not, and deceived by Iago, a man he trusted. Othello has two love duets
between the same characters, but with very different moods and relationships, which are portrayed
through the dialogue, the stage actions, and most importantly the musical strategies employed.
The opera Othello was written by Verdi, one of the most prominent opera writers in the late 1800 s. He
was born in 1813 in northern Italy, however, most of his work took place in Milan, Italy. This is
where, on February 5th of 1887, Othello was first performed, at the Teatro alla Scala (Stanford). Verdi
s opera Othello is based off of Shakespeare s play Othello, which was written in 1622. Verdi based
many of his operas off of Shakespeare s plays, such as his opera

Macbeth that was based on the play
Macbeth, first performed in 1847, and his opera Falstaff, based on the play The Merry Wives of
Windsor, first performed in 1893. In Othello, a black Moor general has just returned from a

Use Of Repetition In Cry The Beloved Country
English Essay
In the novel, Cry, The Beloved Country, the protagonist Reverend Stephen Kumalo, who lives in a
small valley in South Africa, must decide whether to find his family in Johannesburg. In the second
chapter of the book, a lot of his personality is revealed, from when a small child opens the door to give
him a letter, to when he decides he must leave to meet his family again. In order to develop the
character of Stephen Kumalo, Paton uses simile, imagery, repetition and metaphor to explain his
interactions with people, and how he reacts under certain conditions.
In the beginning of chapter two, Stephen is shown to be a very important figure in the village. When a
child knocks on the door of Kumalo, Paton uses simile to show how ... Show more content on

When he needs to use the money, saved up for their child Absalom, to visit his sick sister, Kumalo
replies, How can I use it? He said. This money was to send Absalom to St Chad s. Absalom will never
go now to St Chad s. How can you say that? How can you say such a thing? . Paton uses repetition of
the same question to show how Kumalo can be reluctant to face the facts about his child, who lives in
Johannesburg, and not being able to see him for a long time, which in turn implies his anger. During
his frustration for his family, his naivety is hinted at, when he thinks that his child is going to come
back or write a letter for him to use the money to go to St Chad s, when it is highly unlikely something
such as that would happen. When he realises that he needs to go to Johannesburg to visit his sick
sister, the author uses metaphor to show how hurt and sensitive he is. You have opened a door, and
because you have opened it, we must go through . The doors, representing the fact that he must leave
the tribe and go somewhere else, is something that he does not want to pass through, therefore he
blames it on his wife. He also blames his wife, because he realises what she says is true, which hurts
him the most, causing him to realise that he must go through anyway. Nonetheless, through his

Analysis Of Betty Friedan s The Feminine Mystique
The Feminine Mystique , first published in the year of 1963, is widely acknowledged as one of the
most influential books in the 20th century as well as in the history of feminism. (Fox, 2006) The book
signals the beginning of the second wave of the feminist movement as feminism literature to illustrate
and analyse female problems in 1960s America. (Fox, 2006) At the same time, it is a declaration to
proclaim an era in which American women strove towards the equality that females refused to be
subordinate to patriarchal ideology anymore. In The Feminine Mystique , Betty Friedan for the first
time in history describes the problem that has no name for American women in the 1950s to 1960s. It
was the time just after World War II and men went back form the war frontier to their working
positions, most of the American women went back to the kitchen rather than going out to work as they
had during the war. They were identified by Friedan as suburban housewives (Friedan, 1963:18),
suffered from a common dissatisfaction of their lives, which is called the problem that has no name or
the nameless aching dissatisfaction in the book. By analysing the essence of the problem combined
with a quantity of real life example and previous theories, the author defines the feminine mystique as
the convention that women should become an ideal patriarchal woman in the society where men create
women as capable housewives as well as gentle mothers. (Friedan, 1963:15 28) Betty Friedan

The Relation Between Race And Ethnicity
The term Race refers to a person s physical, biological traits that lead to different treatment by others
in the society. In modern world race is defined more by the identification of people on the basis of
their physical characteristics, it is socially constructed. Race refers to a group that is socially defined
but on the basis of physical criteria. Over the period of time, the concept of race has changed in many
different forms and is now less about person s family or cultural ties but more based on how they look.
An example of race is brown, white, or black skin.
However, the term Ethnicity refers to the culture, heritage, and the way people live their life, the
language they speak, religion they practice, food they eat and other culturally

Blind Search Research Paper
Blind search is when you start at state space and begin looking through a tree or structure, and never
ask self if you are making progess as you move, but just continously move through tree or structure
until reaching goal space or answer. Blind search has a couple different functions that can happen.
Two functions called Depth first and Breadth first involve going through a tree or structure, but both
using a different method to reach goal space. In depth first you search tree or structure starting at the
starting point and exploring as far as possible along each branch before backtracking, picking one
move or path and following through with that decision. Depth first is just expanding from first point
further and further until a goal point ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Basically, start at top, then consider all possible moves and work out those moves that will give you
best outcome in next level only revealing tree a little bit at a time until you are where you want to be,
and continue that process as you reach each new level traveling downward. Breadth first is considered
a conservative and safe option, it exhausts searches from entire tree or structure without considering
the goal until it finds it. Breadth first in ways does not use a heuristic algorithm. Two more functions
called Foward and Backward Chaining which take into consideration the point of an end state, we
want an outcome. Forward chaining is starting where you are and working to the goal in mind. You
want to move forward from what you have to where you want to be...this sometimes makes more
sense for unique goal states. The Ultimate Game is a good example of a foward chaining function.
Backward chaining on the other hand has no well defined end state or no terminal

As a logical consequence, Postmes and Brunsting (2002) reasoned that the Internet is changing society
because people s cognitive processes, triggered by access to information and communication, replace
the strong social ties that traditionally underpin committed activism. In simpler words, in the past,
humanity used the herd instinct as the main driving force behind committed forms of activism. Thanks
to the Internet, we climb another step or three on the evolutionary ladder, and simply do away with the
herd instinct and replace it with reason. The argument, if put this way, does not sound particularly
strong. What can be taken away is that social media is still evolving, that social media changes the
way we or most of us communicate, that social media is used in social and political activism, and that
the Internet increases quantitative if not qualitative access to information.
The 2011 uprising in Egypt was in many ways a traditional brick and mortar revolution, but with a
cyber twist to it: based on their statistical analysis of a large body of tweets related to the 2011
uprising in Egypt, Starbird and Palen (2012) observed that activists used Twitter as an important tool
to share ideas and information with like minded people, because Twitter allows a high number of
activists interact using its retweet and other mechanisms. In this case, Twitter was used among

Proposal Energy Audit: An energy audit is an inspection, survey and analysis of energy, flows for
energy conservation in a building, process or system to reduce the amount of energy input into the
system without negatively affecting the output(s). Energy audit identifies opportunities for financial
savings by elimination of wasteful use of electricity, coal and fuel oil, without affecting the process or
quality of product. Need for Energy Audit: It has been established that Energy savings of the order of

It is this first phase where you, the facility manager, can watch the work of the energy auditor to make
sure he does not miss any equipment and allocates the equipment to their right meters. Phase II: Data
Analysis The second phase expected of an energy audit is an analysis of the data obtained at the
facility. Here the auditor leaves the facility and returns to his place of business to use his skills and
computer programs to analyze the data collected. When he/she has analyzed your existing equipment s
operation, it should match the demand and energy consumption on the electric bills. The analysis
should show a breakdown of the percent of demand and energy used by various types of equipment
such as air conditioning, heating, lighting, motors, etc. It should bench mark the facility s energy use
index to similar facilities. Phase III: Recommend Energy Conservation with Cost Effective The third
phase of an energy audit is to recommend energy conservation measures in equipment and operations.
This would include replacing inefficient with high efficiency lighting, air conditioning, and motors,
adding window tint to south and west facing windows, installing motion sensors, and purchasing there
energy saving devices. Each item would have a cost and an annual savings associated with it so as to

Intelligence Is The Most Intelligent Of The Primates
Homo sapiens have always been seen as the most intelligent species, but what makes them so
intelligent? Some believe that intelligence is the ability to communicate through a language. However,
it is much more complex. Intelligence is more so the ability to learn, reason and understand, as well as
understanding truths, relationships, facts, and meanings. Through much research, scientists have
discovered that there are other species with great knowledge. Species such as dolphins, primates,
elephants, pigs, and birds have had their brilliance put to the test, supporting the idea that intelligence
is more than having a language. Primates, our closest living relatives, are among the smartest of the
animal kingdom. Two in particular, Orangutans and Chimpanzees, are considered the most intelligent
of the primates. Both species have been taught to use and have been observed using tools necessary
for their survival. What makes this action qualify as intelligence, is that they understand why they are
performing those actions and how to go about doing them. A captive orangutan was once taught how
to build a protective structure using tools in the wild. When the orangutan was released, it was seen
building the same protective structure to provide shelter from the rain. Chimpanzees, however, have
been found to learn, have family bonds, adopt orphans, perform cognitive and creative tasks, and have
a better memory than any other animal. They have learned how to use sign language to

King s Cross Underground Fire In 1987

3. Details of the mechanism known as the trench effect (500) The two methods that are combined to
form the trench effect is based on two well understood but separate ideas: the Coandă effect from fluid
dynamics and the flashover concept from fire dynamics. The Coandă effect is the phenomena in which
a jet flow attaches itself to a nearby surface and remains attached even when the surface curves away
from the initial jet direction. The flash over concept is in a compartment fire there may come a stage
where the total thermal radiation from the fire plume, hot gases, and hot compartment boundaries
(ceilings and walls) causes the radiative ignition of all exposed combustible surfaces within the
compartment. Where the compartment is adequately ventilated in the case of the king s cross fire it
would be the wind from the tubes pushing the air up the escalator, this sudden and sustained transition
of a growing fire to a fully developed fire is known as a flashover. Why them together creates the
trench effect? These two forces combined created what is called the trench effect due to the way in
which the flames go sideways instead of straight up like a general

States, second only to Uber and Lyft (Japsen, 2016). The cost to expand Teladoc Inc. into the global
telehealth market is estimated at $750,000. The potential costs include nine staff members, one project
manager, a flexible marketing plan, and travel expenses. There are several risks associated with
expanding Teladoc product to the global telehealth market to include supply chain resourcing,
manufacturing, mode of entry, regulatory structure, and establishing the target market. The logistical

It is very possible for team members to lose sight of their roles and responsibilities during a project. It
is the responsibility of the Project Manager to develop a decision making structure that includes each
team member s responsibilities to the project. Not meeting deadlines has strong potential to derail a
project. One way to mitigate the risk of missing a deadline is to divide the project into segments and
assign team members deadlines for their part of the project. Another potential obstacle will occur if the
telehealth product design is changed during the project. On way to mitigate the risk of changes to the
design of telehealth products is to include an end user or health care representative, and the

Language is a vital tool for human beings. Human language is a measure for communicating thoughts,
ideas, and identity to one another. Cultural relations, economic dealings, and the shaping of
friendships are all dependent upon language. While it could be viewed that today s languages are the
result of past language extinctions, the death of language signifies a loss much greater than just words.
It has been speculated an estimate of as many as 100,000 languages had existed prior to the dawn of
agriculture. Currently, approximately only 6,500 to 6,900 languages are spoken today worldwide.

for its benefit. It not only gives the management a financial overview of the organization, but also
from three other perspectives which include customer, internal business process and learning and
growth (Kaplan Norton, 2007). According to Kaplan Norton (1992), the balanced scorecard should
answer the following four basic questions with regards to the organization: 1. Customer perspective
How to customers see us? 2. Internal perspective What must we excel at? 3. Innovation and learning

The script is a very powerful character study exploring what it means to be insane and unraveling our
very concepts of reality. Shutter Island is absolutely gorgeous. The film is definitely Scorsese s most
visually rich work since Raging Bull. The cinematography perfectly mirrors the tone of the story and
is one of the strongest points of the film. The establishing shots are breath taking. They create of the
feeling of grander and adventure with an undertone of mystery and the unknown. The environment
Scorsese creates makes the viewer s skin crawl as effectively as fingernails on the chalkboard. The
score perfectly translates what is going on and further engraves the overall emotion of mystery and
uncertainty into the audiences souls. The dream and hallucination sequences are a treat to the eyes and
are some of the most striking every put on celluloid. Most of the time when a film tries to do one of
these scenes they appear poorly executed and take away from the story. That is not the case with
Shutter Island as theses scenes provide a great story telling technique. They create a haunting feeling
that mirrored to the suspense in reality.
Where Scorsese falters is in the transition between reality and the nightmare world only found in
Teddy s psyche. The switches feel very clunky at times and bring the effect down. The audience can
almost always tell what is real and what is a nightmare. If the director could have created

Descartes Skeptical Argument and Reponses by Bouwsma and Malcolm
In this essay, I will examine Rene Descartes skeptical argument and responses by O.K. Bouwsma and
Norman Malcolm. I intend to prove that while both
Bouwsma and Malcolm make points that refute specific parts of Descartes argument in their
criticisms, neither is sufficient in itself to refute the whole. In order to understand Descartes argument
and its sometimes radical ideas, one must have at least a general idea of his motives in undertaking the
argument.
The seventeenth century was a time of great scientific progress, and the blossoming scientific
community was concerned with setting up a consistent standard to define what constituted science.
Their science was based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More significantly, Descartes implies that all consciousness could actually be a dream state, thus
proving that the senses can be doubted. The dream argument has its intrinsic problems, however. One,
is that images in dreams can be described as quot;painted images quot;.2
In other words, a dream image is only a portrait of a real life object, place or person. If we are
dreaming then it is implied that at some point we were conscious and able to perceive these things. If
we are able to perceive these things then we must admit that we have senses and that our senses are, at
least in part, true. This was exactly what Descartes was trying to disprove, and it was one reason he
abandoned the dream argument.
The second problem with this argument is that it points to mathematics as a point of certainty. I
believe Descartes best explained this in his own words:
quot;[W]hether I be awake or asleep, two plus three equals five and a square does not have more than
four sides: nor does it seem possible that such obvious truths can fall under the suspicions of falsity.
quot;3 Even when we are dreaming, the laws of mathematics and geometry hold true, but they can not
be Descartes point of certainty for a simple reason; these abilities that Descartes believed were innate
still had to come from somewhere. If they are in our heads when we are born, someone had to put
them there. Descartes question is who, and he comes up with

habitat suits Burramys in several ways. The rocks and the spaces between them provide shelter,
protection from predators and abundant nesting sites. Seeds and fruits from the vegetation and a
diverse and abundant invertebrate fauna provide plentiful food resource. According to the research ,
the alpine and subalpine region from 1200metre to 2228metre above sea level is suitable for these

developed in mid 1990s by combining such previously developed software engineering methods.
Object management group(OMG) took control of UML formal evolution in to its hand. It is largely
used as it is considered as a modeling standard for object oriented software development. Some books,
articles and contributions are done by the researchers for defining various aspects of the software and
guidelines on how to use this language. It is important to remember that UML is a language not a
methodology, so that we cannot have consistent guidelines. They even did a examination on unified
modeling language because of its widely acceptance. They even got little evidence on the level and
nature of unified modeling language use. There study included seven unified modeling language
components which are used in system analysis and design. Which addressed three key questions they
are firstly, to what extent and purposes can unified modeling language analysis components can be
used. secondly, does the complexity of the language is due to the differences in the levels of
component use and do such differences exist or not?.thirdly, do UML is successful in establishing

Analysis Of The Castaways Of The Flying Dutchman
For centuries, humans have loved stories, particularly ones they can either relate to, or ones that are
just exciting. A story of adventure, mystery, and the honest against the malevolent... the book series
The Castaways of the Flying Dutchman had all of this. Brian Jacques wrote the series, with the first
book published in 2001 and the last one in 2006, spanning over a three book series. The first one is the
one that named the series, the second book called The Angel s Command, and the author named the
final installment The Voyage of Slaves. The series follows two characters, a boy named Ben and his
dog, Ned, as they travel through the world on land and sea, facing diabolical people and plans. The
two of them were unwillingly aboard the famous ghost ship The Flying Dutchman, before it became a
phantom apparition that would haunt sailors forever. After a terrifying experience aboard the ship, an
angel saves the two, and sends them out into the world to spread their generosity. Ben and his dog
become immortal as a result of the angel saving them, and the rest of the story is of them in various
parts of the world, facing foes and making friends, which they all must leave behind at the end of the
book. Although they have a few of the same characters and similar themes, each book brings a
different and unique plot to the whole narrative. For example, in the first novel Ben, Ned, and his new
friends in a late, 19th century village try to save said village from destruction by

Chronic Insomnia
brain tumors or strokes (Epstein, p.249).
Chronic insomnia was revealed to be in direct relation to a neurochemical imbalance in 2008 that
makes it difficult for the brain to get ready for sleep. Someone who is affected for more than six
months has 30 percent less gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA), which is chemically induced
throughout the brain to slow activity down (McKeever,2008). GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter
that helps regions of the brain shut down by reducing electrical activity (Mehta,2008). This attributes
to overactivity being present at not only the level of excessive thoughts and emotions but at the
nervous system as well (McKeever,2008). Hyperarousal is also a neurobiological state of chronic
insomnia and lower GABA levels are found in people with a major depression disorder and anxiety

Yahweh In The Book Of Jonah Bible
In the Hebrew Bible, due to its anthological nature, there are a wide variety of viewpoints that are
expressed from different periods of time. While some books have mainly a negative view on foreign
nations and peoples, there are a few that are somewhat positive. The books of Joshua, Jonah, and
Esther all illustrate distinct perspectives and approaches that the Israelites had to people of foreign
nations, which help to create an overall picture of the different beliefs that the various authors of the
Hebrew Bible carried. In the book of Joshua and previously, the people of Israel are told to remove all
of the people that are in the land that God had given them. They are not to leave even one person

This can be seen in that, after finding out that Esther was a Jew, the king did not kill her. In Esther,
Haman had planned to kill all of the Jews in Persia, and after this plan was revealed to Xerxes at the
second dinner party, he ordered that Haman be killed and proceeded to appoint Mordecai, another Jew
and Esther s cousin, as the prime minister. In Jonah, Yahweh has mercy on the people of Nineveh after
they repent of their sins. This particular point serves as irony, in that Jonah as one of Yahweh s people
disobeyed, while the people of the foreign land obeyed, which serves to put a more positive view of
the foreigners to those that read the book. In differences, though, the most obvious is between the
book of Joshua and the books of Jonah and Esther. Joshua paints all foreigners are bad and that they
should all be eradicated, but Jonah and Esther paint foreigners in a somewhat better light. In Jonah,
the Gentiles obeyed Yahweh, when the Israelites didn t. In Esther, the guy that wants to destroy all the
Israelites is killed and illustrated to be a bad guy, while other people that weren t Israelites were
against the man s idea to do so. In both of these circumstances, Gentiles are viewed in much better

an inmate might be treated. They would be forced to work in bad conditions with limited access to

Durkheim and the Relevance of His Theories in Modern Society
Treat social facts as things is an expression that epitomises the works of Emile Durkheim. This essay
focuses on four main sociological concepts proposed by the functionalist Emile Durkheim; the
division of labour; mechanical and organic solidarity; anomie and suicide, and examines their
relevance in contemporary society.
Along with Marx and Weber, Durkheim is considered one of the founding members of modern
sociology. He is also credited with making sociology a science through his application of scientific
and empirical research. Durkheim believed that sociology should be seen as a science separate from
other sciences such as psychology, by studying social facts objectively as things. (Kiviston, 2011)

(McDonald, 2009)
Organic solidarity arose as a result of the industrial revolution when society became more multifaceted
and new ways of working emerged. This saw a decline in the collective conscience regarding shared
morals and beliefs as society began to progress and expand. The division of labour that arises as a
result of organic solidarity is complex and varied, resulting in people becoming more individualistic
and yet also interdependent. Society s social bonds now centred around the fact that people were
dependant on each other for the good and services required in their day to day lives. (McDonald,
2009)
As organic solidarity is typical of complex, industrialised societies, Durkheim s theory is very
applicable to modern life and the first world in particular. Individuality is a major feature of people
living in the western world today e.g. the USA, UK, and Ireland. This is evident in our political and
social thinking. Much emphasis is placed on personal rights and the belief that nothing is more
important than us. (Hughes et al, 1995) Meanwhile we are not self sufficient; we rely heavily on the
expertise of thousands globally to live our daily lives e.g. the food we eat, the clothes we wear, the
cars we drive etc. (Macionis and Plummer, 2005)
A huge increase in individualism came about because of organic solidarity resulting in a breakdown of
moral and ethical boundaries

Big Firms And Small Firms
Progressively, to an increasing extent, professionals in the financial world are beginning to recruit
smaller firms as opposed to the conventional recruitment of large firm with monetary benefits, tax
deductions and other motivations (Gort et al, 1982). This approach has two features: Firstly,
developing and supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses, secondly, expanding/ improving
infrastructure and to recruit a highly experienced and educated workforce (Gruber, 1995). These
efforts depend on improving the quality of life in the community and generating an attractive business
climate. Studies from economic development strategies aimed at attracting large firms are likely to be
successful only at high cost (Grabowski, 1968). The idea is not primarily for new businesses to create
jobs on a small scale but to enhance maximum growth in such businesses through creation of ideas
that may enable them grow into larger firms thus, creating more jobs on a larger scale and leading in
the industrial world (Grabowski, 1968). This essay is going to compare big firms and small firms in
terms of their innovation; the comparison will be based on their economies of scale, scope and
spillovers, research and development. Whether or not large firms are more innovative than the small
firms is debatable. A firm s innovative efficiency is affected by its size, large or small. Large firms are
sometimes more efficient because they possess economies of scale. Economies of scale is an increase

The Legend Of The ANZAC Legend
Ww1 IS regarded as one of the significant and fundamental event in history. It occurred due to the
assassination of the heir to the throne of the Austro Hungarian Empire on 28 June 1914(Stephen
Tonge). The countries were divided to two main powers called Central power where German and
Austria were included and Allied power where England and Russia and Australia fought for the
mother country England .One 25 April 1915, Australia sent troops to Gallipoli to fight against Turkish
.But accidently they landed at the amiss place which made them suffer from the under fire, and the
ANZAC legend was generated there. Although there was no military victory, the Australians displayed
great courage, mateship and endurance. The stories of these qualities are the proof of ANZAC legend s
undoubtable accurate portrayal of Australia s fighting men in WW1.
Mateship is one of fundamental quality which represents the ANZAC legend. Mateship was showed
through the experience of trench, warfare, concentration camps, injury, forced labour, and the bored
man and terror of war. The story of the brave solider Simpson was a great example of the mateship
through these experiences. The Return Services League of Australia WA Branch Incorporated which

  • 2. Family Story And Origin Of A New Environment Every family story and origin is unique to the members of the immediate group, while including the traditions passed from generation to generation. From the scent of their house and clothes, special holidays, vacation spots, memories, what they eat and how it is served; all of these elements of life are distinct to a family. These elements are incorporated into what is viewed as normal life in a way that we don t see how our lives differ from those around us, until we are faced with a situation where things are done differently than us. Many families contain multi cultural backgrounds, therefore providing generations with traditions that include folklore from different origins. One of the biggest elements of culture how dishes are served and prepared. If you ever travel, one of the biggest attractions to a new environment is the food that is served in that area. Some food traditions are difficult to explain and don t make sense to outsiders, but to the family or local group it is a sense of definition and unity through foodways. In Louisiana especially, with Cajun culture, we see many festivals and events that are food based, and the pride in the locals that serve it. My family, all born and raised in the South, participate in the spicy food, crawfish boils, jambalaya sales, gumbo cooking events that this culture offers. From a young age I can remember waking up on a Saturday morning in the fall, feeling the crisp air flow through the house as we had the windows open, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Obstructive sleep apnea can be very dangerous if it is not properly detected and treated. Nearly 18 billion Americans today (or 1 out of every 5) have a form of sleep apnea. About 4% of people are undiagnosed (or 1 out of 50). It can occur in all age groups and different sexes. (Sleep Apnea n.d.) What is Sleep Apnea? Apnea means without breathing. In many cases apnea is caused by tissue in the back of one s throat that collapses. Sleep apnea is an involuntary cession of breathing that occurs during sleep. • 7. Art Analysis Of Donatello By One Of The Patron Saint Mark ART ANALYSIS: SAINT MARK The Italian artist Donatello was selected by one of the guilds in Florence to make a sculpture of their patron Saint Mark, and Donatello delivered. In the early fourteenth century, half of Florence s market hall was torn down to make room for Orsanmichele, a meeting place for all the guilds of Florence. In 1339, each guild was given its own spot to personalize and decorate. Though it took much more time than originally planned, in 1411, Donatello was chosen by the linen drapers guild to sculpt Saint Mark as their display. Donatello chose to work with the less expensive marble instead of bronze. His contract stated that the sculpture should be finished by November of 1412, but this had to be extended, of course. This stance had been forgotten by artists all throughout most of the Dark Ages, so to see it back in such a wondrous display was very important. Donatello also considered the angle at which the statue of Saint Mark would be seen, from down below. Donatello purposefully made Saint Mark s head and hands and torso elongated; this would be ... More specifically, warring times, changes to social structures, and economic activity that varies by country have been the overall leading factors that have shaped the Olympics over the years. The Olympics have shown over the decades that they can be affected by political conflict. However, it seems that this is the point of the Olympics, to illustrate national pride, by competition. Finally, the Olympic games are altered by the diverse and changing social structures in the world. For instance, in 1908 a photograph of British competitor Sybil Newall shooting her bow was found on newspapers across England(2). Whether this photograph was staged to sell newspapers or not, it cannot be denied that this photograph indicates the beginning of women s movement, which was obviously an important issue during this time in the world. With more leniency being given to women during this time, they were eventually being allowed to compete in the competitive events, though only 2% of the athletes were women. This factor also continues to show during the 1992 games held in Spain, where by then 29% of women were competing. Hassiba Boulmerka was an Algerian competitor during this time and spoke in an interview about her critics, and how being the first Algerian to win an Olympic title did not depend on her gender, but simply on her strength in her mind and in body. • 11. Othello s Influence On The World Of Opera Verdi s Othello has had a profound influence on the world of opera, and considered by many critics to be his best work. Othello has been performed throughout the world, debuting in over 25 countries within the first fifty years of its creation (Stanford). It has been performed all over the globe by world renowned operettists, in theatres such as the Lincoln Center in New York, the Sydney Opera House in Sydney, and the Bolshoi in Russia. Othello is about a general who is led to believe his wife is cheating on him, when in reality she is not, and deceived by Iago, a man he trusted. Othello has two love duets between the same characters, but with very different moods and relationships, which are portrayed through the dialogue, the stage actions, and most importantly the musical strategies employed. The opera Othello was written by Verdi, one of the most prominent opera writers in the late 1800 s. He was born in 1813 in northern Italy, however, most of his work took place in Milan, Italy. This is where, on February 5th of 1887, Othello was first performed, at the Teatro alla Scala (Stanford). Verdi s opera Othello is based off of Shakespeare s play Othello, which was written in 1622. Verdi based many of his operas off of Shakespeare s plays, such as his opera Macbeth that was based on the play Macbeth, first performed in 1847, and his opera Falstaff, based on the play The Merry Wives of Windsor, first performed in 1893. Use Of Repetition In Cry The Beloved Country English Essay In the novel, Cry, The Beloved Country, the protagonist Reverend Stephen Kumalo, who lives in a small valley in South Africa, must decide whether to find his family in Johannesburg. In the second chapter of the book, a lot of his personality is revealed, from when a small child opens the door to give him a letter, to when he decides he must leave to meet his family again. In order to develop the character of Stephen Kumalo, Paton uses simile, imagery, repetition and metaphor to explain his interactions with people, and how he reacts under certain conditions. In the beginning of chapter two, Stephen is shown to be a very important figure in the village. When a child knocks on the door of Kumalo, Paton uses simile to show how ... This money was to send Absalom to St Chad s. Absalom will never go now to St Chad s. How can you say that? How can you say such a thing? . Paton uses repetition of the same question to show how Kumalo can be reluctant to face the facts about his child, who lives in Johannesburg, and not being able to see him for a long time, which in turn implies his anger. During his frustration for his family, his naivety is hinted at, when he thinks that his child is going to come back or write a letter for him to use the money to go to St Chad s, when it is highly unlikely something such as that would happen. When he realises that he needs to go to Johannesburg to visit his sick sister, the author uses metaphor to show how hurt and sensitive he is. You have opened a door, and because you have opened it, we must go through . The doors, representing the fact that he must leave the tribe and go somewhere else, is something that he does not want to pass through, therefore he blames it on his wife. Analysis Of Betty Friedan s The Feminine Mystique The Feminine Mystique , first published in the year of 1963, is widely acknowledged as one of the most influential books in the 20th century as well as in the history of feminism. (Fox, 2006) The book signals the beginning of the second wave of the feminist movement as feminism literature to illustrate and analyse female problems in 1960s America. (Fox, 2006) At the same time, it is a declaration to proclaim an era in which American women strove towards the equality that females refused to be subordinate to patriarchal ideology anymore. In The Feminine Mystique , Betty Friedan for the first time in history describes the problem that has no name for American women in the 1950s to 1960s. It was the time just after World War II and men went back form the war frontier to their working positions, most of the American women went back to the kitchen rather than going out to work as they had during the war. They were identified by Friedan as suburban housewives (Friedan, 1963:18), suffered from a common dissatisfaction of their lives, which is called the problem that has no name or the nameless aching dissatisfaction in the book. By analysing the essence of the problem combined with a quantity of real life example and previous theories, the author defines the feminine mystique as the convention that women should become an ideal patriarchal woman in the society where men create women as capable housewives as well as gentle mothers. As a logical consequence, Postmes and Brunsting (2002) reasoned that the Internet is changing society because people s cognitive processes, triggered by access to information and communication, replace the strong social ties that traditionally underpin committed activism. In simpler words, in the past, humanity used the herd instinct as the main driving force behind committed forms of activism. Thanks to the Internet, we climb another step or three on the evolutionary ladder, and simply do away with the herd instinct and replace it with reason. The argument, if put this way, does not sound particularly strong. What can be taken away is that social media is still evolving, that social media changes the way we or most of us communicate, that social media is used in social and political activism, and that the Internet increases quantitative if not qualitative access to information. Some believe that intelligence is the ability to communicate through a language. However, it is much more complex. Intelligence is more so the ability to learn, reason and understand, as well as understanding truths, relationships, facts, and meanings. Through much research, scientists have discovered that there are other species with great knowledge. Species such as dolphins, primates, elephants, pigs, and birds have had their brilliance put to the test, supporting the idea that intelligence is more than having a language. Primates, our closest living relatives, are among the smartest of the animal kingdom. Two in particular, Orangutans and Chimpanzees, are considered the most intelligent of the primates. Both species have been taught to use and have been observed using tools necessary for their survival. What makes this action qualify as intelligence, is that they understand why they are performing those actions and how to go about doing them. A captive orangutan was once taught how to build a protective structure using tools in the wild. When the orangutan was released, it was seen building the same protective structure to provide shelter from the rain. One, is that images in dreams can be described as quot;painted images quot;.2 In other words, a dream image is only a portrait of a real life object, place or person. If we are dreaming then it is implied that at some point we were conscious and able to perceive these things. If we are able to perceive these things then we must admit that we have senses and that our senses are, at least in part, true. This was exactly what Descartes was trying to disprove, and it was one reason he abandoned the dream argument. The boulder fields support Mountain Plum pine, podocarpus lawrencei heathland and provide shelter for Bogong moths which are a vital food source for Burramys. Podocarpus, the characteristic plant of Burramys habitat, is the only conifer in the alpine and subalpine areas of mainland Australia. This habitat suits Burramys in several ways. The rocks and the spaces between them provide shelter, protection from predators and abundant nesting sites. Seeds and fruits from the vegetation and a diverse and abundant invertebrate fauna provide plentiful food resource. According to the research , the alpine and subalpine region from 1200metre to 2228metre above sea level is suitable for these environmental factors.() Due to the fact that Australia has limited alpine and subalpine region, Burramys are distributed in Victoria and New South Wales which seldom states that have alpine and subalpine region in Australia. The Burramys are especially distributed at Mount Higginbotham and Mount Buller in Victoria, and Kosciuszko National Park in New South Wales. The total population size is estimated to be less than 2600 adults. Therefore, Burramys are listed as endangered in New South Wales and listed as threatened in Victoria. This mainly caused by climate changes and loss of its habitat. Therefore, recovery action taken from Healesville Sanctuary and she has successfully launched a captive breeding program for the Mountain Pygmy possum in Victoria. This facility maximises ... • 31. Application Of Unified Modeling Language ASSIGNMENT 3 Summary some developers like Jacobson et al, Rumbaugh et al, Booch developed competing object oriented software engineering methods. Unified modeling language (UML) is developed in mid 1990s by combining such previously developed software engineering methods. Object management group(OMG) took control of UML formal evolution in to its hand. It is largely used as it is considered as a modeling standard for object oriented software development. Some books, articles and contributions are done by the researchers for defining various aspects of the software and guidelines on how to use this language. It is important to remember that UML is a language not a methodology, so that we cannot have consistent guidelines. They even did a examination on unified modeling language because of its widely acceptance. They even got little evidence on the level and nature of unified modeling language use. There study included seven unified modeling language components which are used in system analysis and design. Which addressed three key questions they are firstly, to what extent and purposes can unified modeling language analysis components can be used. secondly, does the complexity of the language is due to the differences in the levels of component use and do such differences exist or not?.thirdly, do UML is successful in establishing proper communication between the software ... • 32. Analysis Of The Castaways Of The Flying Dutchman For centuries, humans have loved stories, particularly ones they can either relate to, or ones that are just exciting. A story of adventure, mystery, and the honest against the malevolent... the book series The Castaways of the Flying Dutchman had all of this. Brian Jacques wrote the series, with the first book published in 2001 and the last one in 2006, spanning over a three book series. The first one is the one that named the series, the second book called The Angel s Command, and the author named the final installment The Voyage of Slaves. The series follows two characters, a boy named Ben and his dog, Ned, as they travel through the world on land and sea, facing diabolical people and plans. The two of them were unwillingly aboard the famous ghost ship The Flying Dutchman, before it became a phantom apparition that would haunt sailors forever. After a terrifying experience aboard the ship, an angel saves the two, and sends them out into the world to spread their generosity. Ben and his dog become immortal as a result of the angel saving them, and the rest of the story is of them in various parts of the world, facing foes and making friends, which they all must leave behind at the end of the book. Although they have a few of the same characters and similar themes, each book brings a different and unique plot to the whole narrative. For example, in the first novel Ben, Ned, and his new friends in a late, 19th century village try to save said village from destruction by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to the Federalists, just because something was not specifically written in the Constitution doesn t mean that it wasn t covered or addressed as something that the federal government could handle. The Federalist Party also supported a strong governmental leadership. They thought that the most important branch of government was the executive branch, and that a strong leader was needed in this office of president to make the country strong. • 34. Chronic Insomnia brain tumors or strokes (Epstein, p.249). Chronic insomnia was revealed to be in direct relation to a neurochemical imbalance in 2008 that makes it difficult for the brain to get ready for sleep. Someone who is affected for more than six months has 30 percent less gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA), which is chemically induced throughout the brain to slow activity down (McKeever,2008). GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter that helps regions of the brain shut down by reducing electrical activity (Mehta,2008). This attributes to overactivity being present at not only the level of excessive thoughts and emotions but at the nervous system as well (McKeever,2008). Hyperarousal is also a neurobiological state of chronic insomnia and lower GABA levels are found in people with a major depression disorder and anxiety disorders that both factor into disturbed sleep (health.com). • 35. Yahweh In The Book Of Jonah Bible In the Hebrew Bible, due to its anthological nature, there are a wide variety of viewpoints that are expressed from different periods of time. While some books have mainly a negative view on foreign nations and peoples, there are a few that are somewhat positive. The books of Joshua, Jonah, and Esther all illustrate distinct perspectives and approaches that the Israelites had to people of foreign nations, which help to create an overall picture of the different beliefs that the various authors of the Hebrew Bible carried. In the book of Joshua and previously, the people of Israel are told to remove all of the people that are in the land that God had given them. They are not to leave even one person alive, because Yahweh wanted only His people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be seen in that, after finding out that Esther was a Jew, the king did not kill her. In Esther, Haman had planned to kill all of the Jews in Persia, and after this plan was revealed to Xerxes at the second dinner party, he ordered that Haman be killed and proceeded to appoint Mordecai, another Jew and Esther s cousin, as the prime minister. In Jonah, Yahweh has mercy on the people of Nineveh after they repent of their sins. This particular point serves as irony, in that Jonah as one of Yahweh s people disobeyed, while the people of the foreign land obeyed, which serves to put a more positive view of the foreigners to those that read the book. In differences, though, the most obvious is between the book of Joshua and the books of Jonah and Esther. Joshua paints all foreigners are bad and that they should all be eradicated, but Jonah and Esther paint foreigners in a somewhat better light. In Jonah, the Gentiles obeyed Yahweh, when the Israelites didn t. In Esther, the guy that wants to destroy all the Israelites is killed and illustrated to be a bad guy, while other people that weren t Israelites were against the man s idea to do so. A deep, gnawing feeling of being unsettled seated itself within his gut and bit at him incessantly that afternoon, when the bleached seas of fog finally began rolling back and exposing the ghostly monoliths of steel and glass, complimented by the vaguely red bridge on the edge of the city that stretched into the thicket of mist like a pathway to eternal salvation. San Francisco had always been a haunted city; a city of tragic fires, earthquakes, and a feverish lust for gold, spurred on by the constant hum that seemed to make up the very fabric of the land. Many different categories of labor camps were created during the second World War in order to classify the inmates. These prisoners were not treated the usual way an inmate might be treated. They would be forced to work in bad conditions with limited access to sustenance. They were forced to work at an unrealistic pace and would be killed if they were unable to keep up that rate. Many deaths were caused by these forced labor camps which were directed and guided by the Nazis and, as the war continued, slave labor camp procedures continued to increase which, as a result, brought many more deaths. • 39. Durkheim and the Relevance of His Theories in Modern Society Treat social facts as things is an expression that epitomises the works of Emile Durkheim. This essay focuses on four main sociological concepts proposed by the functionalist Emile Durkheim; the division of labour; mechanical and organic solidarity; anomie and suicide, and examines their relevance in contemporary society. Along with Marx and Weber, Durkheim is considered one of the founding members of modern sociology. He is also credited with making sociology a science through his application of scientific and empirical research. Durkheim believed that sociology should be seen as a science separate from other sciences such as psychology, by studying social facts objectively as things. (McDonald, 2009) Organic solidarity arose as a result of the industrial revolution when society became more multifaceted and new ways of working emerged. This saw a decline in the collective conscience regarding shared morals and beliefs as society began to progress and expand. The division of labour that arises as a result of organic solidarity is complex and varied, resulting in people becoming more individualistic and yet also interdependent. Society s social bonds now centred around the fact that people were dependant on each other for the good and services required in their day to day lives. (McDonald, 2009) As organic solidarity is typical of complex, industrialised societies, Durkheim s theory is very applicable to modern life and the first world in particular. Individuality is a major feature of people living in the western world today e.g. the USA, UK, and Ireland. This is evident in our political and social thinking. Much emphasis is placed on personal rights and the belief that nothing is more important than us. (Hughes et al, 1995) Meanwhile we are not self sufficient; we rely heavily on the expertise of thousands globally to live our daily lives e.g. the food we eat, the clothes we wear, the cars we drive etc. (Macionis and Plummer, 2005) A huge increase in individualism came about because of organic solidarity resulting in a breakdown of moral and ethical boundaries ... • 40. Big Firms And Small Firms Progressively, to an increasing extent, professionals in the financial world are beginning to recruit smaller firms as opposed to the conventional recruitment of large firm with monetary benefits, tax deductions and other motivations (Gort et al, 1982). This approach has two features: Firstly, developing and supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses, secondly, expanding/ improving infrastructure and to recruit a highly experienced and educated workforce (Gruber, 1995). These efforts depend on improving the quality of life in the community and generating an attractive business climate. Studies from economic development strategies aimed at attracting large firms are likely to be successful only at high cost (Grabowski, 1968). The idea is not primarily for new businesses to create jobs on a small scale but to enhance maximum growth in such businesses through creation of ideas that may enable them grow into larger firms thus, creating more jobs on a larger scale and leading in the industrial world (Grabowski, 1968). This essay is going to compare big firms and small firms in terms of their innovation; the comparison will be based on their economies of scale, scope and spillovers, research and development. Whether or not large firms are more innovative than the small firms is debatable. A firm s innovative efficiency is affected by its size, large or small. Large firms are sometimes more efficient because they possess economies of scale. Economies of scale is an increase ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
