Present Day Climate Change
Many people think that present day climate change is similar to paleoclimate change, but this is only
true when looking at the effects of climate change, the trends in temperature, and the trends in
greenhouse gas levels, which have all stayed the same. By applying the principle of uniformity, we
know that many of the current processes, such as plate tectonics happened in the same way in the past.
In order to use climate proxy records, we have to apply this principle to be able to compare the data
about the current and past environment with equal weight. For example, we assume that the ice cores
reacted the same way to changes in air composition and temperature in the past, such as the mid
Cretaceous, as they do today, so that we can make fair statements of whether or not the air
composition and temperatures have changed or stayed relatively similar. We ... Show more content on

In the mid Cretaceous, coral reefs were found in abundance near 5 to 30 degrees polewards. Today, we
can find them only from 5 to 15 degrees polewards, and there are also very few of them at those
locations. In the past atmospheric aerosols had natural causes such as sulfur and water vapor from
volcanoes, but today most of the aerosols put in the air is smog. Most of this smog is due to humans
burning coal and driving vehicles everyday in such large numbers in multiple places throughout the
world. Additionally, in the mid Cretaceous volcanic activity was the main contributor of atmospheric
CO₂, but today the main CO₂ emitter is the burning of coal, and also fossil fuels. If coral reefs, the
causes of aerosols in our atmosphere, and the causes of atmospheric CO2 have all changed, then we
cannot say that paleoclimate and present day climate change are the

Persuasive Essay For Fashion
In today s blog, we are going to discuss tips to make shopping for your wedding dress as easy and as
stress free as possible. The first thing you want to do is set up a budget. Plan to spend 10 percent of
your overall wedding budget on your dress. This number is simply a starting point. If dress fashion is
most important, increase the budget for your dress and scale back on other areas. You want to start the
quest for your perfect dress early. Depending on the dress and the designer, it can take time between
the moment the order is placed and when you can bring the gown home. If the dress is custom made, it
can take 4 to 5 months for the designer make the gown. You also want to schedule three fittings about
a month apart. By starting early, it will give you plenty of time to shop and see what is available. If
you are short on time, keep in mind you can expedite this by paying a surcharge for the gown. In the
search for the perfect dress, you want to research what is available. This part of the process will allow
you to think about what kind of dress you want. Look at Bridal magazines, Pinterest, and bridal
related websites. Consider making a folder to house the designs, fabric samples, and anything else that
sparks your fancy. Take your folder with you when you go shopping for your dress. This will give the
consultant a feel for what you are looking for and will provide information to serve you best. The next
step in the process is the appointment stage. Once you have an

Mexica Vs Inca
Similar to how in the modern world how two cultures can differ greatly, India versus Canada for
example, the ancient societies of the Mexica and the Inca were very different. Such dissimilarities are
partially due to lack of communication, a problem originating in the time period in which they thrived,
being the twelfth to sixteenth centuries when they had no other means of communication besides by
foot. Despite their differences, the two peoples had many parallels regarding social norms and
hierarchies. Be it ancient Egypt, Nazi Germany, or the modern day United States, religion has yielded
sway in government and has had a major influence on societal norms. In both the Inca and Mexica
culture, for example, priests yielded much power in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Mexica culture, calpulli were communities of cultivators that worked on land belonging to
aristocrats who had common forefathers, however after some time, the importance of familial lineage
became less important. While usually working on agriculture, some calpulli also worked on general
services to their greater societies. Comparably, the Inca cultivator peasants lived in communities
called ayllu that were like the Mexica s calpulli. Similar to the future system of feudalism, the
peasants worked on the land of an aristocrat, and most products of this work went to the upper classes.
While the Mexica and Inca lower classes resembled each other, the upper classes were disparate. In
Mexica culture, warriors were the highest on the hierarchal pyramid. Warriors were very privileged,
but the best warriors visibly distinguished themselves by wearing colorful clothing and eating
expensive food. In addition, many warriors held positions of power in the government. In Inca culture,
aristocrats and priests were at the top of the pyramid. Aristocrats set themselves apart from the
commoners by wearing clothing embroidered by the lower class and large rings or plugs in their ears.
In fact, when the Spanish first encountered the Inca, they nicknamed the aristocrats big

Working Hard Drinking Hard Is An Ethnography Written By...
Working Hard Drinking Hard is an ethnography written by Adrienne Pine who is an Anthropologist
that focused her research work based out of Honduras and it took place from 1997 2003. Honduras is a
country located in Central America neighbouring to Nicaragua and Guatemala. Throughout field
notes, audio, and video clips along with participant observation Adrienne Pine was able to capture the
way of life for certain Hondurans who were able to tell her their stories. Poverty has been a key
association of many issues for the Honduran people and has had a tremendous impact on: work and
employment, alcohol abuse, and violence within the community.
Poverty is a major issue that many Hondurans are faced with each and everyday. In 2002, 77.3% ...

This is because large corporations can take advantage of developing countries and not abide to the
same standards of ethics and employment treatment as they would in a developed country and Pine
was able to demonstrate that through her ethnography.
In the Maquiladoras the workers are 70% women, they are subject to poor working conditions and
sexual harassment. Illegal work practices also occur such as firing pregnant women and denying
maternity leave. Women are paid less than men and are let go around the age of 30 with very few
skills. (Pine 2008, p.142)
This shows that although the Maquiladora industries are able to provide employment to those in
poverty, the end result does not help these men and women prepare for a future outside of their
alienated tasks at these factories and they are also subject to unethical practices, making it clear the
poverty affects the work of Hondurans. Another academic source The Economist published an article
in 1997 which was during the uproar of the clothing manufacturing industries and had this to say
about what they found out on the Maquiladora industries: In the worst sweatshops, women work 16
hour days with a single half hour break. Some work 80 hours a week without overtime pay or take

The Effects Of Media On Body Image
Media holds such high standards in today s society, and media as a whole has gotten so much power
throughout the years. There are so many different forms of media in today s world: newspapers,
magazines, televisions, the hundreds of websites on the Internet, social media applications, computers,
and novels. Media advertises thousands of different things, but something that has stayed consistent
over the years is advertisement on body image. Media advertises a specific body type, pushes different
dietary needs to achieve this body type and thus creating the standard of in order to be beautiful, this
particular body type must be achieved. However, what advertisers seem to be neglecting is the effect
their advertisements are having on its viewers. The constant push to achieve a certain body type has
affected the health of thousands of people around the world, and directly affecting the eating disorder
epidemic. What exactly is an eating disorder? There are multiple different types of eating disorders:
anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, eating disorder not otherwise specified, and binge eating disorder.
These are just some of the more common eating disorders people can suffer from. Anorexia nervosa
according to National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), is characterized by self starvation and
excessive weight loss. In other words a person who suffers from anorexia nervosa refuses to eat in
hopes to lose weight at an excessive pace. Bulimia nervosa is characterized by a

Summary Of Rohinton Mistry And A Fine Balance
Shakespeare s tragedy King Lear discusses how people quickly blame fate for events that are actually
the fault of their own actions, saying that, This is the excellent foppery of the world... when we are
sick in fortune, often the surfeits of our own behaviour, we make guilty of our disasters the sun, the
moon, and the stars: as if we were villains by necessity (Edmund, King Lear). Similarly, A Fine
Balance by Rohinton Mistry demonstrates that the joys, injustices, and cruelties present in the
characters lives happen due to circumstances beyond their control, such as government regulations
and the societal traditions and systems surrounding them everyday. Amidst the political turmoil and
uproar of the Emergency in India, Rohinton Mistry depicts the lives of good, everyday people as they
struggle to gain stable footing in a highly corrupt and hierarchical society. In this depiction of various
characters living in Indian society, Mistry portrays how India s deeply rooted societal traditions and
systems create an indirect line of causalities that disguises itself as fate.
Mistry demonstrates how the characters defiance of traditional Indian gender roles creates a line of
causalities that ultimately determine the character s path. Mistry contextualizes these gender roles
when he describes that, It was hard for [wives] not to be resentful the birth of daughters often brought
them beatings from their husbands and their husband s families (Mistry 100). The author includes this
quote to demonstrate the considerably large extent to which males hold power and priority in Indian
society, thus making women nearly impotent with the exception of Dina, which may explain why the
author gives her a central role in the novel. Therefore, the defiance of gender roles which the society
in which they live considers as a crime since the values of misogyny have invaded their worldview is
dangerous, but represented in the character of Dina Dalal. Dina was quickly widowed, but Mistry
depicts her as a strong woman who struggles to keep her independence in a society that expects her to
be subordinate to another man. Even after many years since her husband s death, Dina s brother,
Nusswan, compares her life to watching

Premarital Sex and Catholicism´s View on It
Premarital sex is something that has been around as long as humans have been around. According to a
USA Today article, a study finds that about ninety five percent of Americans have had premarital sex.
With the Catholic population in American being about twenty five percent, it is safe to assume that
most Catholics are not following the teachings of the Church to a tee. It is easy to say that it is the
current generations that are acting more promiscuous because they are getting married later in life but
the study was conducted including people that were born as far back as the 1940s. With this premarital
sex it seems as though even those who believe they are good Catholics are blatantly ignoring the rules
and teachings of the Church. For Catholic Christians, we must analyze our views according to culture
and how the Church can capitalize on the opportunity. Catholics also must recognize the
transformation of culture in relation to religion and, finally, respond to the issue. In the Bible there is
no specific prohibition of premarital sex. It does however have many references to sexual immorality.
In Thessalonians 4:3 5 it states that It is God s will that you should be sanctified: that you should
avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy
and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God. In 1 Corinthians 6:18 20
it states that Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins

I Love Songs Analysis
Three Songs There are three songs that I believe go along with We Were Liars by E. Lockhart. One
song is All My Loving by The Beatles, because for all the love that were hallucinations that Cadence
had during the story for Gat. A second song that I think goes with the story is Medicine by The 1975,
because once Cadence learned the truth of the accident, all her migraines, aches, and hallucinations
disappeared. The last song I think corresponds with the story is The Beach from The Neighbourhood,
because i think it describes how Cadence feels towards the end of the story. I think the song All My
Loving by The Beatles goes with the story with the hallucinations that she has of Gat. The first line of
the song is Close your eyes and I ll kiss you Tomorrow I ll miss you Remember I ll always be true
which I believe matches with the feeling that Cadence gets in the end of the story. She loved Gat and
now he s gone, but she ll continues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The part of the song that she feels that s a burden is Now I need your help with everything that I do, I
don t want to lie, I ve relying on you. Cadence asked her mother to tell her what happened the night of
the accident and relies on her mother for going through the day. For the pain the lyrics are I can admit,
I m not fireproof, I feel it burning me, I feel it burning you. When really the accident was a fire that
took the life of her cousins and family dogs, so that part of the song is when Cadence starts to
remember parts of the accident, but not the whole thing. Throughout the song the singer has a feeling
that he s hoping that he doesn t hurt his loved one and I think I can match that part to when Cadence
realizes that all her loved ones are gone because of what she did. One specific part of the song is I
hope I don t murder me, I don t burden you when in the end she kills them and burdens her

The Devistation Of Abraham Lincoln s Assassination
So you want to know about Lincoln s assassination. Lincoln was assassinated by a man named John
Wilkes Booth. He was killed at a play he was attending with his wife. The theater was Ford s theater.
The assassination was justified because Lincoln was unpopular among people, he wasn t liked because
he did not act like previous presidents did and also because he abolished slavery. The assassination was
not justified because a lot of people liked Lincoln so they wouldn t have reason to want him dead.
Abraham Lincoln was unpopular between people. He was unpopular between people because they
didn t like the way he ran things in office. They didn t like that he abolished slavery. Also how he didn
t run like previous presidents. They wanted him to run the nation like previous presidents because they
liked the way the other presidents ran in office. They didn t like that Abraham Lincoln abolished
slavery, because they didn t want slaves to be free. They wanted slaves to serve under them and make
profit off of them. They also didn t black people so that s another reason they didn t want slavery to be
abolished. One of the reasons they didn t want slavery abolished was because they made profit off of
slaves. Without slaves they didn t make as much money. Abraham Lincoln did not run the office like
other presidents did when they were in office. The way the other presidents ran in office Lincoln did it
different. Like how Lincoln abolished slavery none of the other presidents before

The Factors That Make Asian Growth So Phenomenal
The Main Factors That Make Asian Growth So Phenomenal
Amber N. Sands
Cleveland State University
In this essay, the author explains the essential parts of Asia s phenomenal growth. Asia is the poster
child for the saying, slow and steady wins the race . Asia has been growing since the early 1900s. This
paper breaks down the growth of Asia into three core factors and explains which one has been the
most influential on that growth. Graphs are used to highlight how certain factors, such as population
age, and birth rate, affect Asian megacities. Influential aspects of the Asian culture and how they affect
growth are also demonstrated. A greater understanding of what factors influence the phenomenal

Issues such as migration, population age, and birth rates are the biggest influences on the phenomenal
growth in Asia. These issues can be considered part of the population dynamics, which will be
explained in more detail along with the economic markets and sociopolitical conditions.
Population Dynamics Population dynamics looks at the biological and environmental factors that
influence change amongst a region. Migration, Population Age, and Birth Rates among Asian
Megacities
Asia has been a growing force since about 1960. With population dynamics being the biggest
influencing factor. Population dynamics looks at the long term and short term changes in the size and
age of a population, with three factors being analyzed: migration, population age, and birth rates.
Castles and Miller (2009) state that In 2005, Asian countries housed 53 million of the world s 191
million migrants . (para1). Migration throughout Asia is nothing new; it dates back many centuries.
Some people migrated from Asia because of political struggles while others either migrated within
Asia or were indentured workers who were forced to work in other countries such as China and Japan.
According to Castles and Miller (2009), between the years 1921 and 1941, Japan recruited 40,000
people from its then colony, Korea. Taking into account what Castles and Miller had noted, with all
the internal migration happening,

All Men Are Created Equal By Thomas Wwain
Commonly, people believe that Thomas Jefferson is a hypocrite, due to the fact that one of his most
famous quotes is all men are created equal . Although that was one of his famous quotes, he owned
slaves all throughout his lifetime. The topic over slavery including Thomas Jefferson is extremely
controversial today in America.
In each excerpt, each author clearly addressed the issue of presentism. In Wilson s excerpt he
addressed the issue of presentism by, considering the time eras as well as the dilemmas that Jefferson
faced. Wilson wrote that Jefferson knew that slavery was sinful, but freeing the slaves when they had
been slaves their whole life was not the logical answer. In Finkelman s excerpt he addressed the issue
of presentism, because he said Jefferson fails the test . There was not a literal test, but based on
Finkelman s belief and attitude toward the past, Jefferson failed Finkelman s test. In our present day,
our principles do not allow majority of Americans to presume, that Jefferson owning slaves and
pushing the belief that all men are created equal, is not hypocritical. Majority of the people in America
today would perceive Thomas Jefferson as a deceiver and would not take him seriously. Both authors,
Wilson and Finkelman, use the ethical standard that slavery is wrong to evaluate Jefferson. They use
the evidence that Jefferson was a slave owner. Wilson thinks that Jefferson meets the ethical standard
in his era. He believes that, although slavery is

The Behaviors Vanessa Wolf
There was once a pack of wolves who lived in Roundup, Minnesota. The wolves each had a special
power. The leader had the strongest power. The leader could heal, create and throw fire, and control
water. But the best power was the power to hypnotize. The leader was a female, and her name was
Vanessa Wolf. Her pack was called The Saviors. The pack was made of 5 million wolves. Everyone
knew them as the pack that protected the animals of the world. Vanessa would use her hearing as her
source to sense the animals in danger in the world. When the pack of 5 million wolves was running to
get to the animal or animals in trouble, you could hear them running from miles away. The pounding
on the ground was so intense it created earthquakes.

How Is Wordsworth Influenced By William Wordsworth
Wordsworth is an high English poet and an establishing member of the Romantic Movement in the
English literature. He lived and wrote at the period between 1770 1850 which is the golden era of
romanticism . Like other Romantics, Wordsworth poetry and personality also were greatly influenced
by his love for the nature, especially by the spectacles and views of the Lake Country area, where he
spent most of his life in nature. Wordsworth is sincere thinker; he showed high tenderness and a love
of nature and simplicity. Two persons affected him personally and literary, his sister Dorothy and the

It says that even when you are by yourself and lonely and missing your friends, you can use your
imagination to fine new friends in the world around you. As John Milton famously wrote, The mind is

makes a heaven out of a windy day and a bunch of daffodils. His happiness does not last forever he s
not that unrealistic but the daffodils give him a little boost of joy whenever he needs it, like recharging
his batteries. In conclusion, William Wordsworth is one of the best romantic poets; actually he
established the romanticism in the English literature. Now, we can say that the poem I Wandered
Lonely as a Cloud is the pest representation of romantic poetry. It contains most of the characteristics
of good romantic poetry. Such characteristics as subjectivity, the love of nature, love of beauty, and
joyful memories of the past. In addition, Wordsworth was influenced by his Sister Dorothy who

Chinese Impact On Australian Federation
Year 9 History: Making a Nation Enya Navarroza
To what extent did the Chinese population impact on Australia s federation
The Australian Gold rush days had brought may immigrants from all over the world to Australia.
Many of the migrants who joined the goldrush left their families and their homeland behind. This is
particularly difficult for the Chinese because they come from a traditional culture that focused greatly
on family and their village. Most Chinese men who came to New South Wales were not for individual
fortune but came for their family. The Chinese immigration shaped and influenced Australian policy
for over a 100 year, which became one of the driving factors for the Australian Federation.

have somewhat adapted in our modern society in Australia.
The main reason for the Europeans to dislike the Chinese was because they viewed the Chinese as a

made their opinions change Australia s Immigration Laws as well as our Federation all together.
Good things have happened due to the Chinese population impacting on Australia s decision of
passing the Immigrations laws. If this event did not occur in the history books, that Multiculturalism
that we have today wouldn t be here. We have realised as a country that we need everyone in our

The Second Vatican Council And Its Lasting Effects
The Second Vatican Council and Its Lasting Effects
Kevin Buckley

THE 1000C
Dr. Holland
As time constantly presses forward and the earth continues to revolve, the world will never stop
progressing and adapting to better suit the needs of mankind. The evolution of religion has greatly
enhanced the quality of life for humanity by providing individuals with a strong belief system that is
now the foundation of many peoples core values. One universal religion that has undergone extensive
amounts of reform is Christianity. In particular, the Catholic church is well known for the development
of their famous ecumenical council meetings that help determine the future of the church. Numerous
Councils have been conducted throughout the course of history, but none more significant than the
most recent, the Second Vatican Council or Vatican II. The Catholic church was operating as if it was
still the medieval period and desperately needed to be modernized. As a result, every Roman Catholic
Church official was gathered to meet and devise a plan for how to introduce the church to the modern
world. Consequently, the following will reveal the Second Vatican Council and the ramifications of
the agenda, history and theology evolution, significant texts, and new developments. January 25th
1959, is a day every catholic remembers because it was on that day when Pope John XXIII announced
that he was assembling what was to be the 21st ecumenical council of the Roman

Comparing Plato And Bacon s The Idols Of The Tribe,...
In discussions of our susceptibility of delusions and false beliefs, Plato argues that humans can choose
whether they want to follow the false beliefs in the darkness, or go into the light by facing all aspects
of reality with honesty. Bacon s argument is similar to Plato s, and Bacon combines the four mistakes
of human nature into four different idols. Idol of the tribe, cave, marketplace, and theater. Bacon s
idols help explain how we are vulnerable to delusions Although Plato and Bacon claim that we are
susceptible to delusions and false beliefs, I claim that the human understanding is vulnerable to
distortion because people bring their own background into their thoughts which distort the truths. truth
is distorted by human understanding and people are teaching the distorted truth to other people, so
people become blinded when they go from the darkness, the bad, to the light, or the good. Bacon
explains what Idols of the Cave are, and how they lead to a distortion of the truth. The Idols of the
Cave are the idols of the individual man. For everyone (besides the errors common to human nature in
general) has a cave or den of his own, which refracts and discolors the light of nature (Bacon 131).
Here, Bacon describes that every person has their own ¨cave which represents the fault of people. The
cave distorts the truth and reality, and this is how false facts come to be. Because everyone has their
own cave, one truth is distorted differently by every single person until

The Epidemic Of The Nineteenth Century
Introduction The cholera outbreak or the epidemic of the mid nineteenth century was the start of
modern epidemiology. John Snow is considered the father of the modern epidemiology. Epidemiology
is defined as the distribution and determinants of health and diseases, morbidity, injuries, disability,
and mortality in populations. Epidemiological studies are applied to the control of health problems in
populations. (Friis, Epidemiology 101, p. 3). During the mid 1800 s, John Snow revolutionized the
epidemiological methods we are currently still using. John Snow believed that cholera was transmitted
by contaminated water and was able to demonstrate this by mapping out the cases of cholera. Once he
mapped out the cases he found that there was a cluster of cases around the Broad Street pump. The
pump was removed after Snow present his evidence and the cases of cholera started to decline. This is

Strange Death of Silas Deane
The Strange Death of Silas Deane by James West Davison and Mark Hamilton Lytle creates a new
perspective on what people see history as. Although many people would define history as something
that happened in the past, through The Strange Death of Silas Deane , the authors demonstrate that this
everyday view on history can be profoundly misleading.
In the section, An Untimely Death , the author explains the key events of Deane s life and his death.
Silas Deane began his life as the son of a humble blacksmith in Groton, Connecticut (16). He went
from rags to riches as he graduated from Yale College and opened up a practice. Deane married,
divorced, and married again. He wasn t happy being a businessman so he entered politics. He ... Show

His story reveals a lot about himself as well as Deane. The reason why Deane contacted Bancroft
when he was going to England was so Congress s Committee of Secret Correspondence had a good
source of information about British war plans (23). As mentioned earlier, Arthur Lee did accuse Deane
of using his position to make a profit for himself, but that was just an accusation up until now.
Apparently Deane was

Essay on Interview with the Vampire
Interview with the Vampire Book vs. Movie
I cannot speak for all, but I find watching the movie much more interesting than reading the book. I
find that the movie paints a perfect picture well on the other hand reading the book you have to let
your imagination take over and create images in your head of what might the scene look like.
Interview with the Vampire was a well written book and a well developed movie after reading the
book and the watching the movie I found the movie much more entertaining then reading the book. In
this essay you will read on how the setting, plot and the characters were created in the movie and in
the book and their similarities.

Even though the settings were very similar, I still found the movie much more entertaining to watch.
The film has a sense of humor that the book never even alluded to. Some scenes are unchanged in the
movie from the book. That s why I found that the plot in the movie was exactly as it was in the book.
There is a scene where Louis first feeds off of Claudia and her transformation, and there is also a
scene at the Theatre de Vampires are practically word for word from the book. There is a scene where
Claudia sleeps in Louis coffin this also accurse in the movie. There is also a scene where Lestat locks
a whore in a coffin which also accurse in the movie but much more entertaining to watch then read.
Also, Lestat s two demises are the same, though there is no vampire musician who accompanies Lestat
at that point in the book. Though the line about I know someone who would make a better vampire
than you is still there. There are also fore more scenes that are the same. I also found that the plot in
the movie and the plot in the book occur at the same time. The plot occurs when, Louis and Claudia a
6 year old girl decide to kill their creator, Leastat and move to Paris. Lestat loved the blood of man
and women. He would bite, and then kill. Louis hated that. He survived on rats and chickens. Louis
made one bite on a human that he regretted. It was a little girl, Claudia. He left her to die. Lestat saw
this and decided that he would not let Louis ever

Michael Wayne s The Dark Knight
Over the years, Batman s character had become a household name when discussing anti heroes from
the DC universe. Although not every comic book fan would consider him an anti hero, people would
still associate anger and broodiness when referring to the character of Bruce Wayne due to his
apparent dark nature. Frank Miller s the Dark Knight Returns had changed things; not just did it focus
on Batman s broody nature, but it had also expanded on the internal battles that had been the cause of
the darkness and the reason for Batman s questionable methods. Miller managed to bring needed
humanity to Batman that had been missing in earlier ages. The qualities that made the Dark Knight
more in touch with his humanity were; having his origin story trauma affect him until adulthood,
experiencing internal psychological conflict, and possessing moral flaws.
Throughout book one of the comic, there were several panels in which Bruce Wayne s trauma was
mentioned. It seemed that Bruce s childhood trauma of seeing his parents killed had followed him into
his adulthood. On pages 22, the reader was clearly able to understand Bruce s internal battle as he
attempted to convince himself that [ the Mark of Zorro] is just a movie. That s all it is. No harm in
watching it, (Miller, 22). On both page 22 and 23, Miller was able to present a very human condition
that usually followed trauma; PTSD. The strategy of showing a more human side effect was able to
express how human Batman still was at his

Religion Shaped Inter Cultural Interaction
Religion shaped inter cultural interaction throughout the world since man first practiced animism. By
the thirteenth century, religion evolved into numerous faiths that conflicted with one another. Conflicts
involved numerous issues such as, who is god, is the chosen god the most powerful god, how to
worship god, how one religion converts people to their religion. The issues that segregate different
cultures are endless when exploring religion. As differing religions gained strength, cultures formed
around people of similar beliefs and ideas creating dominant religions. One dominant religion, the
Catholic Church, challenged other dominant religions to convert to Christianity. Religion shaped inter
cultural interaction through power, segregation, and diplomacy. Orders Given to the Twelve provides
evidence that the Spanish Catholic Church, in New Spain, shaped inter cultural interaction with power.
The minister general, Francisco de los Angeles sent twelve apostolic Franciscan friars to New Spain to
evangelize the native people to Christianity. De los Angeles told the friars that their hardships, without
promise of reward and to death in the line of holy duty in the obediencia such a death is called the
palm of martyrdom (Francisco Angelorum, 59). The friars in their hardship would achieve admiration
from their peers and the church empowering their own desire to succeed. De los Angeles also told the
friars, even if you do not convert the infidel...you have done your duty

Artificial Neural Networks ( Anns )
Artificial neural networks (ANNs) are computational algorithms loosely based on the human
biological nervous system which work to model statistical data. An ANN consists of processing
elements known as neurons that are interconnected to each other and work in unison to answer a
particular problem [, and] can be used in places where detecting trends and extracting patterns are too
complex to be detected by either humans or other computer techniques. Although recent in their
explosion in popularity, the underlying logic behind ANNs have existed for nearly a half century ,
however due to the pervasive and ubiquitous adoption of powerful computational tools in our
contemporary society, ANNs have had a sort of renaissance, much to the avail of scientists, engineers,
and consumers.
The current cutting edge in deep learning and ANNs focuses highly on both their ability to model and
interpret complex data, and their ability to be put to scale due through optimization and parallelization.
The current framework for designing ANNs is one that is widely available, with a myriad of tools
facilitating their development. Python, C++, Google s Tensorflow, Theano, Matlab, and Spark all
contain a robust set of mathematical operations which necessitate ANNs. Due to the algorithm behind
ANNs, the models are inherently apt in extract[ing] meaning from imprecise or intricate problems .
Speaking reductively, ANNs are data modeling tools which are trained on a given dataset, and can

Hotel Room And Occupancy Rates
Our industry, the Global Hotels and Resorts, experienced strong growth over the five years to 2015.
Over the five year period, both consumers and businesses became more confident about their finances
and spent freely on luxuries, including travel. This culminated in a substantial increase in travel rates
and hotel room and occupancy rates, two indicators of a hotel s performance. Travel spending has also
picked up quickly, especially in emerging economies where tourism is on the rise. Global tourist
arrivals are expected to increase an annualized 4.8% over the five years to 2015 to reach 1.2 billion.

Over the five years to 2020, revenue is projected to increase at an annualized rate of 3.4% to $978.7

popularity of companies such as Airbnb. Millennials have shifted the focus from hotel loyalty to more
novelty related experiences. The overarching experience that many of these hotels in the industry are
shifting to is updated bars and lounges that spill into the lobby. Renovation will be on the upswing
over the next few years as guests desire more technology, more stimulating social experiences, and
better food and snack choices. Hotels will be looking to charge more fees and surcharges on amenities
as occupancy rates increase. This goes without saying, demand drives prices, and the hotel industry

Raising The Flag On Iwo Jima By Joe Rosenthal
Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima is a historic photograph by Joe Rosenthal taken on February 23, 1945.
The photograph depicts six men, five United States Marines and one United States Navy corpsman,
raising the United States flag on Mount Suribachi, during the battle of Iwo Jima in World War II.
Raising the flag on Iwo Jima was the second flag raising of the day, the first being raised early in the
morning after the area was secure. Joe Rosenthal s photo was printed thousands of times, won the
Pulitzer Prize for Photography, and has been made into stamps and statutes. Rosenthal uses color,
lines, and structure to convey the message that the United States won the war. Rosenthal utilizes the
black and white color of the photo to help convey his message of sadness. During World War II, over
6,000 marines were killed in battle, so the dark grey and black help project the message that it was a
time of and sadness. The picture is statuesque in that it looks like someone built a statue on the top of
Mount Suribachi and the black and white color adds to that affect. The black and white color heavily
emphasizes the shadows in the picture and it gives the picture depth. ... Show more content on

Key Drivers Of India s Economic Growth
II. Problem Statement
SMEs (Small and Medium enterprises) are one of the key drivers of India s economic growth. Over
the years a large number of small and medium size companies have grown in the market. Small and
Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have been contributing so much towards the GDP of India. With their
emergence and huge potential, the government of India launched regulated trading platforms for the
SMEs, which allows them to get listed without bringing an IPO. The stock exchanges for these
enterprises were introduced so that these firms can do better in financing activities for themselves. Of
course, there is an option of adding debt, which also helps improve the overall return on equity, but the
cost of raising debt for SMEs is relatively higher. High interest expense does not look very good on
the profit and loss statement of a growing company. Thus, in order to fund the next stage of growth
without excessive interest cost burden, companies look to access equity funds via capital markets.
This is where listing on an exchange comes into the picture. The research would include the
implications of the introduction of the BSE and NSE SME stock exchanges how well they are
performing. Also, what is the response from the SME sector.

Sliding Friction Lab Report
The hypothesis tested in this experiment was, If the surface material is more roughly textured, than the
amount of sliding friction will increase. This hypothesis was supported by the experiment in all nine
trials. In the experiment, it was evident that when a material is rougher, there is more sliding friction.
When testing the smoothest material, masonite, it only took an average of 4.6 washers to have to block
move significantly across the surface. When testing the in between material, the cloth, it had in
between results. The average amount of washers was 12.3. When testing the toughest material,

This is because with the smoother ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The small washers could have affected the results because we were unaware of whether or not their
masses were equal. After conducting the experiment, it was discovered that the masses were not equal
even though they looked as though they were. This could have affected the results because the mass
difference might have made it so that one block would move with less amount of washers even though
the mass was more. Another error that may have affected the results was the possibility of someone
accidentally bumping the table as the experiment was being conducted. If the table was bumped, that
would make it so the block could have been moved which would make the results unreliable. The
ridge between one piece of the cloth and the other may have affected the results my the ridge
hindering the block s movement. If the block was caught behind or between the two pieces of fabric,
the small ridge might have made it so it took more weight to move the block.
Three ways that this experiment can be improved if it were to be conducted over would be to make it
so all of the materials were long enough to cover the whole surface on which the block would be
sliding, using washers that would all be guaranteed the same mass, and using sturdier tape. Making
sure all the materials for the surface are long enough to cover the whole surface is a change that
should be made because the seam between the two materials used can hinder the block from moving.
If the block is

mothers. It is not enough to only have four states offer paid leave. Only 12% of Americans are able to
take a paid maternity leave (NPR). Paid maternity leave should be mandated in every state. Many
people do support the idea of paid leave, but some oppose because they do not want to pay for it. The
way maternity leave could be paid for is the same principle as Social Security. A small portion of
people s paychecks would go towards paid leave. Some people do not realize that paid maternity leave
does not mean that women are simply paid the same as if they were still working. The states that allow

Seum Bilirubin
Normal liver functions are characterized by balanced activities of the enzymes AST, ALT, and ALP
(used as serum marker enzymes), which are found in high concentrations in the cytoplasm of liver
cells. In hepatic injury, the lysosomal instability due to CCl4 leads to leakage of these marker enzymes
into the blood stream, (Celik, et al., 2009). Serum bilirubin is one of the most sensitive tests employed
in the diagnosis of hepatic diseases. It provides useful information about how well the liver is
functioning. Bilirubin, a chemical breakdown product of hemoglobin, is conjugated with glucuronic
acid in hepatocytes to increase its water solubility. Unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia may be the result
of mass inhibition of the conjugation reaction, and consequent release of bilirubin itself from damaged
hepatocytes, (Saravanan, et al., 2006).

Mr Du Sautoy The Code
This episode of The Code began with Mr. Du Sautoy giving another example of mathematical
principles in the real world. This example happens in northern Ireland where a small short line of
rocks is arranged into odd hexagonal shapes. To highlight this principle further, Mr. Du Sautoy moved
onto another example in nature which should be very close to home and that is bees. Bees make their
hives out of a precious substance to them known as wax. Was, being very hard for them to produce, is
put into the most efficient and space saving form as possible. This shape is again, the hexagon. When

However, when multiple spheres are put together they share common walls. These common walls can
be perfectly straight and then become the next most efficient shape. So, when putting the most
efficient singular shape together many times, it will eventually create a lot of hexagons. This is the
reason for the exquisite looking beach and why bees chose to make their hives in the shape of
hexagons. It is the most efficient shape that can be mass reproduced. Next, Mr. Du Sautoy moved onto
the study of measuring the Earth and shapes, in other words geometry. The example Mr. Du Sautoy
uses is that of mines. Deep into the Earth in Germany there are perfectly cubic shaped salt crystals.
These crystals are created so perfectly because the atoms of sodium and chlorine are perfectly cubic.
This translates into the larger crystals being perfectly cubic. Mr. Du Sautoy expresses how the Greeks

see these shapes all over from viruses to salt. Next, Mr. Du Sautoy moved onto talking about a painter

What Is Ultra s Role In Ww2
ULTRA was a code name for information collected from enemy signals during World War II.
Brigadier Bill Williams, a top British intelligence adviser, credited ULTRA with providing the military
with intelligence that would ensure defeat of the Germans. Though this claim is an exaggeration,
ULTRA certainly was an important factor in the triumph of the Allies over the Germans and Italians (
Axis ) during World War II. The insight it provided into the Axis strategies and plans played an
important role in battles on water, land, and in the air. The existence of ULTRA allowed for the British
to curb the continued domination of the Germans across Europe by using their own communication
system against them. ULTRA played a vital role in Allied success ... Show more content on

ULTRA not only informed the Allies of the Axis s fuel and ammunition shortages, it also allowed for
the Allies to further disrupt the Axis oil industry. The extreme effectiveness of the bombing campaign
of the oil industry was having on German military forces was relayed to the Allied forces through
ULTRA. ULTRA also supplied the Allies with the information that the oil and ammunition shortages
were not limited to a section of German forces but existed throughout all of them. A specific example
of the Allies exploitation of this information was during the struggle for domination of the air over
Sicily. During this time ULTRA helped Allied forces locate Axis forces on the airfields in Sicily and
southern Italy. The exploitation of Axis weaknesses were possible with the help of ULTRA intercepts.
ULTRA evened the playing field between the smaller British air force and the Luftwaffe, almost
double the size of the British force during World War II. Air Marshal Arthur Tedder concluded that air
superiority is a condition for all operations, at sea, in land, and in the air and ULTRA certainly aided in
the British s fight for that

The meaning of manipulation in the statement is not reducing or adding facts according to context, but
in the sense of utilizing the facts related to the motives of the target consumers, so that it will follow
the purpose of the message conveyed by the persuader to the target consumers. 5) Persuasive Channel
A channel is an intermediary when a persuadee redirects messages originating from the original source
for the ultimate purpose. Channels are used by persuaders to communicate with various people,
formally or informally, face to face communication or mediated communication. However, in this
study is focused on persuasive communication via telephone by the telemarketers. 6) Feedback and

Separating Music Into Different Categories Or Styles In Music
Categories or styles in music are identified as genres. Separating music into different genres can be
achieved by identifying shared traditions or conventions in musical pieces. Simon Frith argues that
genre categorization is a tool for record companies in order to gain maximum profit from their
recording artists The underlying record company problem, in other words, how to turn music into a
commodity, is solved in generic terms (1996, p. 76). Articles by Reebee Garofalo, Simon Frith, Hector
Qirko and Arnold Shaw explore how musical genres are constructed, defined, negotiated, and
maintained.
The construction of genre constantly varies and is often inconsistent. This can be attributed to the
demands of consumerism. Music labels constantly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this is Rhythm Blues , originally referred to as race music, the term rhythm blues
trended in 1949 as a means to describe music recorded by black artists. Relating back to the
overlapping of musical styles in genre, rhythm blues serves as a direct and immediate source for styles
of rock n roll that rose to popularity in the mid twentieth century, however its historical impact, as
well as its artists and character have had limited acknowledgement (Shaw, 1980, p.71). Garofalo
(1987) even claimed until the Second World War Black and country and western writers were
routinely excluded from the society (p.78). An example of this suppressed attention are the early
recordings of Rock n Roll artist Elvis Presley, Shaw notes that, before gaining fame, Presley s five
Sun disks had included songs originally written and recorded by a black Rhythm Blues artist (1980.
P.71). Shaw argues that while rock n roll is a white derivative of R B the two can easily be
distinguished, presenting a number of distinctions, R B comprises the 1940s and early 50s era, while
rock n roll surfaces in the mid 1950s (1980, p.74). Other distinctions include sociological aspects,
such as R B being the product of the black experience in a segregated world...forcing them to find
entertainment in...black locations (Shaw, 1980, p.74). In this aspect, R B has been maintained as a
musical aspect throughout its history, best explained by this quote from Honkers and Shouters (1978)
R B stemmed from a rich, indigenous folk tradition whereas pop music was a mishmash of European
influences (Shaw, 1980, p.78). R B received recognition in its role for the emergence of rock n roll in
the 1970s, providing an example of how those two genres have been negotiated by scholars to offer
roots and origins of genres in popular

Indian Gaming Regulatory Act Essay
The IGRA stands for the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. This federal law was established and signed
into law by President Ronald Regan on October 17th, 1988. It is an act to regulate gaming on federal
lands thereby giving the U.S. Department of Justice the authority to prosecute offenses related to
Indian gaming. It was enacted in the hopes that it would serve to regulate Indian gaming and
encourage economic growth and revenue generation for the tribes. It would also serve as a means to
protect the Indian gaming industry from unlawful influences such as organized crime. Many
traditional Indian cultures have included gambling. Reservation life for Native Americans have been,

While tribal heritage and development are very important, I think it is also important that we become
more united rather than looked at as separate entities, i.e., tribal communities and their individual
states. As the money generated is now in the billions, it is crucial that the interests of both sides are
represented. Indian gaming does have a consequence for the states in which they operate. Everything
from traffic issues to the seedier side of gaming which can generate missed work days, child neglect,
and the promotion of addictive behavior effect everyone. I believe that it is vitally important for
Native Americans to feel a part of the United States rather than as individual tribes exempt from the
laws that govern others. However, I feel that if the laws stand as they do now it is imperative that we
make sure that the income generated from Indian gaming serve its purpose as stated in the 1988 act

Doctrine of Repugnancy in India
__________________________________________________NIRMA UNIVERSITY
AN ANALYTICAL STUDY AND APPLICABILITY OF THE DOCTRINE OF REPUGNANCY IN
INDIA
ABSTRACT
The distribution of powers is an essential feature of Federalism. The object for which a federal State is
formed involves a division of authority between the Central Government and the State Government.
The tendency of federalism is to limit on every side the action of the Government and to split up the
strength of the State among co ordinate and independent authorities are especially noticeable . A
Federal Constitution establishes a dual polity with the Union at the Center and the States at the
periphery, each endowed with sovereign powers to be exercised in the field assigned to them ... Show

APPLICABILITY OF THE DOCTRINE OF REPUGNANCY
The Doctrine of Repugnancy has been applied in a number of cases in India.
In a recent judgment , dealing with the issues relating to the constitutional validity of Maharashtra
Control of the Organized Crime Act (a State legislation), the Supreme Court revisited the doctrine of
Repugnancy and explained its nuances in its decision in Zameer Ahmed Latifur Rehman Sheikh v.
State of Maharashtra and Ors. in the following terms:
Chapter I of Part XI of the Constitution deals with the subject of distribution of legislative powers of
the Parliament and the legislature of the States. Article 245 of the Constitution provides that the
Parliament may make laws for the whole or any part of the territory of India, and the legislature of a
State may make laws for the whole or any part of the State. The legislative field of the Parliament and
the State Legislatures has been specified in Article 246 of the Constitution Article 246, reads as
follows:

Equine Therapy Research Paper
The Life Changing Treatment When Columbus brought the first horses to the United States, he had no
idea he had brought the animal that would later bring the hope back into people s lives. Horses have
always been a huge part in the lives of people all around the world, but today they have become
something much more than an animal. They have become best friends with society and are now being
used to give various people with different disabilities the amazing feeling of security and confidence.
Equine Therapy has opened a new world to the people who have disabilities. Equine Therapy is for
people who cannot understand the real world like most of us can. Before becoming an Equine
Therapist, one must analyze the qualifications, training, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While in education, the student needs to have completed forty hours of education in the past two
years. Therapists need to keep their certifications up to date. The therapist must have 6,000 hours
(three full years) experience of hands on work with horses, and 100 hours of education in the horse
profession. This is important, this way you know how to react if there is something wrong with the
horse. Therapists must have a degree in a mental health field as a practice. Equine Therapists make
different salaries depending on the degree that they have. They usually start out at $26,000 and end up
making anywhere from $29,500 to $50,000 annually.
Equine Therapy does have its downfalls, some patients walk away and never come back, but when the
patient comes back and heals, that is when therapists know that they are doing some good in this crazy
world. Thousands of lives have been changed by these magnificent creatures. Parents can now give
their children the medication that they need. With the help of horses, therapists are able to give the
veterans their lives back by making the veteran as comfortable as possible with the civilian

Theories Of Personality Paper
Theories of personality, among many other theories in the field of psychology, must use some sort of
scientific basis in order for the theory or research to be looked upon by others as credible. Psychology
is the scientific study of the mind and behavior, therefore it should be crucial for theories of
personality to be evaluated according to scientific criteria. Forming a hypothesis, testing it out,
observing, racking up data it should all be used during research. There needs to always be a theory in
conjunction with research (Cloninger, S. 2013). Scientific criteria gives psychologists or reseachers a
firm base to follow, which makes it easier to validate theories. Evaluating a theory based on
personality without using scientific criteria

Aliens Of The Human Kind
Aliens of the Human Kind
A man, marked with the scars of a long dangerous journey. Hot, bleak, and empty, the dry air and
glaring lack of life created a tangible sense of doom. Risking it all for his family, leaving his country,
crossing the border. This man has created a new life, he is now an alien in the land of freedom and
prosperity. An illegal immigrant is defined as anyone who moves to a country with intent on living
there, without any form of identification. Illegal immigration comes into play when people do not
follow the guidelines during the immigration process. Today there are many issues that surround
immigration: reformation of the system, amnesty, and the over effects. This raises the question, just
how do undocumented immigrants affect the US, politically, socially, and economically?
Many immigrants are currently coming to the US illegally are from Latin America. Back in the late
1800 s we had a different type of immigration problems with the Chinese. On May 6, 1882 president
Chester A. Arthur signed the Chinese exclusion act which prohibited all Chinese from entering the US
(wikipedia). Back in those times there was less sensitivity towards racism. One thing that was similar
between the two times were their motives for coming: money. Although 2016 is different than 1882,
we can still look to the past to guide our future.
Immigrants, aliens, illegals, whatever nomenclature you want to use, are a double edged sword. When
people move into an area, legally or

The Beauty Of The Beholder
An all too familiar phrase Beauty is in the eye of the beholder has been blanketed in the minds of
society throughout history. However, how much truth lies in that phrase or belief? If one is to examine
the nature of this concept, beauty first and foremost needs a specific definition. Beauty is that which
brings enjoyment to the person who observes or contemplates. The answer may seem self evident
when examining different cultures around the world. Ethiopian women for example, wear a lower lip
clay plate to represent social class and beauty within the tribe; the bigger, the more admirable.
Astonishingly enough, any woman in the United States seen wearing a lower lip clay plate would
reach an extremely high level of deviance. However, there are none to argue against the unexplainable
beauty of the Swiss Alps. In re evaluation the over used cliché, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
raises room for debate, discussion, and consideration. In order to comprehend beauty in an objective
form versus a subjective form, the difference between the two need clarification. Objective truths are
based on facts pertaining to the physical and material world. Primary qualities for example, are
objective. The size, shape, and motion of a substance remain true whether or not there is someone
present to perceive these things. On the other hand, secondary qualities are subjective. Subjectivity
requires a perceiver to perceive the affects of a given substance. Sound, taste, color and smell

  • 2. Present Day Climate Change Many people think that present day climate change is similar to paleoclimate change, but this is only true when looking at the effects of climate change, the trends in temperature, and the trends in greenhouse gas levels, which have all stayed the same. By applying the principle of uniformity, we know that many of the current processes, such as plate tectonics happened in the same way in the past. In order to use climate proxy records, we have to apply this principle to be able to compare the data about the current and past environment with equal weight. For example, we assume that the ice cores reacted the same way to changes in air composition and temperature in the past, such as the mid Cretaceous, as they do today, so that we can make fair statements of whether or not the air composition and temperatures have changed or stayed relatively similar. We ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the mid Cretaceous, coral reefs were found in abundance near 5 to 30 degrees polewards. Today, we can find them only from 5 to 15 degrees polewards, and there are also very few of them at those locations. In the past atmospheric aerosols had natural causes such as sulfur and water vapor from volcanoes, but today most of the aerosols put in the air is smog. Most of this smog is due to humans burning coal and driving vehicles everyday in such large numbers in multiple places throughout the world. Additionally, in the mid Cretaceous volcanic activity was the main contributor of atmospheric CO₂, but today the main CO₂ emitter is the burning of coal, and also fossil fuels. If coral reefs, the causes of aerosols in our atmosphere, and the causes of atmospheric CO2 have all changed, then we cannot say that paleoclimate and present day climate change are the ... The first thing you want to do is set up a budget. Plan to spend 10 percent of your overall wedding budget on your dress. This number is simply a starting point. If dress fashion is most important, increase the budget for your dress and scale back on other areas. You want to start the quest for your perfect dress early. Depending on the dress and the designer, it can take time between the moment the order is placed and when you can bring the gown home. If the dress is custom made, it can take 4 to 5 months for the designer make the gown. You also want to schedule three fittings about a month apart. By starting early, it will give you plenty of time to shop and see what is available. If you are short on time, keep in mind you can expedite this by paying a surcharge for the gown. Such dissimilarities are partially due to lack of communication, a problem originating in the time period in which they thrived, being the twelfth to sixteenth centuries when they had no other means of communication besides by foot. Despite their differences, the two peoples had many parallels regarding social norms and hierarchies. Be it ancient Egypt, Nazi Germany, or the modern day United States, religion has yielded sway in government and has had a major influence on societal norms. In both the Inca and Mexica culture, for example, priests yielded much power in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Mexica culture, calpulli were communities of cultivators that worked on land belonging to aristocrats who had common forefathers, however after some time, the importance of familial lineage became less important. While usually working on agriculture, some calpulli also worked on general services to their greater societies. Comparably, the Inca cultivator peasants lived in communities called ayllu that were like the Mexica s calpulli. Similar to the future system of feudalism, the peasants worked on the land of an aristocrat, and most products of this work went to the upper classes. While the Mexica and Inca lower classes resembled each other, the upper classes were disparate. In Mexica culture, warriors were the highest on the hierarchal pyramid. Warriors were very privileged, but the best warriors visibly distinguished themselves by wearing colorful clothing and eating expensive food. In addition, many warriors held positions of power in the government. In Inca culture, aristocrats and priests were at the top of the pyramid. Aristocrats set themselves apart from the commoners by wearing clothing embroidered by the lower class and large rings or plugs in their ears. Working Hard Drinking Hard is an ethnography written by Adrienne Pine who is an Anthropologist that focused her research work based out of Honduras and it took place from 1997 2003. Honduras is a country located in Central America neighbouring to Nicaragua and Guatemala. Throughout field notes, audio, and video clips along with participant observation Adrienne Pine was able to capture the way of life for certain Hondurans who were able to tell her their stories. Poverty has been a key association of many issues for the Honduran people and has had a tremendous impact on: work and employment, alcohol abuse, and violence within the community. Poverty is a major issue that many Hondurans are faced with each and everyday. In 2002, 77.3% ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because large corporations can take advantage of developing countries and not abide to the same standards of ethics and employment treatment as they would in a developed country and Pine was able to demonstrate that through her ethnography. In the Maquiladoras the workers are 70% women, they are subject to poor working conditions and sexual harassment. Illegal work practices also occur such as firing pregnant women and denying maternity leave. Women are paid less than men and are let go around the age of 30 with very few skills. (Pine 2008, p.142) This shows that although the Maquiladora industries are able to provide employment to those in poverty, the end result does not help these men and women prepare for a future outside of their alienated tasks at these factories and they are also subject to unethical practices, making it clear the poverty affects the work of Hondurans. Another academic source The Economist published an article in 1997 which was during the uproar of the clothing manufacturing industries and had this to say about what they found out on the Maquiladora industries: In the worst sweatshops, women work 16 hour days with a single half hour break. There are so many different forms of media in today s world: newspapers, magazines, televisions, the hundreds of websites on the Internet, social media applications, computers, and novels. Media advertises thousands of different things, but something that has stayed consistent over the years is advertisement on body image. Media advertises a specific body type, pushes different dietary needs to achieve this body type and thus creating the standard of in order to be beautiful, this particular body type must be achieved. However, what advertisers seem to be neglecting is the effect their advertisements are having on its viewers. The constant push to achieve a certain body type has affected the health of thousands of people around the world, and directly affecting the eating disorder epidemic. • 7. Summary Of Rohinton Mistry And A Fine Balance Shakespeare s tragedy King Lear discusses how people quickly blame fate for events that are actually the fault of their own actions, saying that, This is the excellent foppery of the world... when we are sick in fortune, often the surfeits of our own behaviour, we make guilty of our disasters the sun, the moon, and the stars: as if we were villains by necessity (Edmund, King Lear). Similarly, A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry demonstrates that the joys, injustices, and cruelties present in the characters lives happen due to circumstances beyond their control, such as government regulations and the societal traditions and systems surrounding them everyday. Amidst the political turmoil and uproar of the Emergency in India, Rohinton Mistry depicts the lives of good, everyday people as they struggle to gain stable footing in a highly corrupt and hierarchical society. In this depiction of various characters living in Indian society, Mistry portrays how India s deeply rooted societal traditions and systems create an indirect line of causalities that disguises itself as fate. Mistry demonstrates how the characters defiance of traditional Indian gender roles creates a line of causalities that ultimately determine the character s path. Mistry contextualizes these gender roles when he describes that, It was hard for [wives] not to be resentful the birth of daughters often brought them beatings from their husbands and their husband s families (Mistry 100). The author includes this quote to demonstrate the considerably large extent to which males hold power and priority in Indian society, thus making women nearly impotent with the exception of Dina, which may explain why the author gives her a central role in the novel. Therefore, the defiance of gender roles which the society in which they live considers as a crime since the values of misogyny have invaded their worldview is dangerous, but represented in the character of Dina Dalal. Dina was quickly widowed, but Mistry depicts her as a strong woman who struggles to keep her independence in a society that expects her to be subordinate to another man. Even after many years since her husband s death, Dina s brother, Nusswan, compares her life to watching ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Premarital Sex and Catholicism´s View on It Premarital sex is something that has been around as long as humans have been around. According to a USA Today article, a study finds that about ninety five percent of Americans have had premarital sex. With the Catholic population in American being about twenty five percent, it is safe to assume that most Catholics are not following the teachings of the Church to a tee. It is easy to say that it is the current generations that are acting more promiscuous because they are getting married later in life but the study was conducted including people that were born as far back as the 1940s. With this premarital sex it seems as though even those who believe they are good Catholics are blatantly ignoring the rules and teachings of the Church. For Catholic Christians, we must analyze our views according to culture and how the Church can capitalize on the opportunity. Catholics also must recognize the transformation of culture in relation to religion and, finally, respond to the issue. In the Bible there is no specific prohibition of premarital sex. It does however have many references to sexual immorality. In Thessalonians 4:3 5 it states that It is God s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God. The last song I think corresponds with the story is The Beach from The Neighbourhood, because i think it describes how Cadence feels towards the end of the story. I think the song All My Loving by The Beatles goes with the story with the hallucinations that she has of Gat. Migration, Population Age, and Birth Rates among Asian Megacities Asia has been a growing force since about 1960. With population dynamics being the biggest influencing factor. • 15. All Men Are Created Equal By Thomas Wwain Commonly, people believe that Thomas Jefferson is a hypocrite, due to the fact that one of his most famous quotes is all men are created equal . Although that was one of his famous quotes, he owned slaves all throughout his lifetime. The topic over slavery including Thomas Jefferson is extremely controversial today in America. In each excerpt, each author clearly addressed the issue of presentism. In Wilson s excerpt he addressed the issue of presentism by, considering the time eras as well as the dilemmas that Jefferson faced. Wilson wrote that Jefferson knew that slavery was sinful, but freeing the slaves when they had been slaves their whole life was not the logical answer. In Finkelman s excerpt he addressed the issue of presentism, because he said Jefferson fails the test . There was not a literal test, but based on Finkelman s belief and attitude toward the past, Jefferson failed Finkelman s test. In our present day, our principles do not allow majority of Americans to presume, that Jefferson owning slaves and pushing the belief that all men are created equal, is not hypocritical. Majority of the people in America today would perceive Thomas Jefferson as a deceiver and would not take him seriously. Both authors, Wilson and Finkelman, use the ethical standard that slavery is wrong to evaluate Jefferson. They use the evidence that Jefferson was a slave owner. Wilson thinks that Jefferson meets the ethical standard in his era. He believes that, although slavery is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chinese Impact On Australian Federation Year 9 History: Making a Nation Enya Navarroza To what extent did the Chinese population impact on Australia s federation The Australian Gold rush days had brought may immigrants from all over the world to Australia. Many of the migrants who joined the goldrush left their families and their homeland behind. This is particularly difficult for the Chinese because they come from a traditional culture that focused greatly on family and their village. The evolution of religion has greatly enhanced the quality of life for humanity by providing individuals with a strong belief system that is now the foundation of many peoples core values. One universal religion that has undergone extensive amounts of reform is Christianity. In particular, the Catholic church is well known for the development of their famous ecumenical council meetings that help determine the future of the church. Numerous Councils have been conducted throughout the course of history, but none more significant than the most recent, the Second Vatican Council or Vatican II. The Catholic church was operating as if it was still the medieval period and desperately needed to be modernized. As a result, every Roman Catholic Church official was gathered to meet and devise a plan for how to introduce the church to the modern world. Consequently, the following will reveal the Second Vatican Council and the ramifications of the agenda, history and theology evolution, significant texts, and new developments. • 21. Comparing Plato And Bacon s The Idols Of The Tribe,... In discussions of our susceptibility of delusions and false beliefs, Plato argues that humans can choose whether they want to follow the false beliefs in the darkness, or go into the light by facing all aspects of reality with honesty. Bacon s argument is similar to Plato s, and Bacon combines the four mistakes of human nature into four different idols. Idol of the tribe, cave, marketplace, and theater. Bacon s idols help explain how we are vulnerable to delusions Although Plato and Bacon claim that we are susceptible to delusions and false beliefs, I claim that the human understanding is vulnerable to distortion because people bring their own background into their thoughts which distort the truths. truth is distorted by human understanding and people are teaching the distorted truth to other people, so people become blinded when they go from the darkness, the bad, to the light, or the good. Bacon explains what Idols of the Cave are, and how they lead to a distortion of the truth. The Idols of the Cave are the idols of the individual man. For everyone (besides the errors common to human nature in general) has a cave or den of his own, which refracts and discolors the light of nature (Bacon 131). Here, Bacon describes that every person has their own ¨cave which represents the fault of people. The cave distorts the truth and reality, and this is how false facts come to be. • 22. The Epidemic Of The Nineteenth Century Introduction The cholera outbreak or the epidemic of the mid nineteenth century was the start of modern epidemiology. John Snow is considered the father of the modern epidemiology. Epidemiology is defined as the distribution and determinants of health and diseases, morbidity, injuries, disability, and mortality in populations. Epidemiological studies are applied to the control of health problems in populations. (Friis, Epidemiology 101, p. 3). During the mid 1800 s, John Snow revolutionized the epidemiological methods we are currently still using. John Snow believed that cholera was transmitted by contaminated water and was able to demonstrate this by mapping out the cases of cholera. Once he mapped out the cases he found that there was a cluster of cases around the Broad Street pump. The pump was removed after Snow present his evidence and the cases of cholera started to decline. This is truly remarkable for its time, linking the contaminate water to increasing cases of cholera at the time and this was all done before the development of the germ theory and the invention of the microscope. Shortly after the John Snow s discovery, London started to in placed sewage systems. Sewage systems and treatment are responsible for providing clean drinkable to people in developed countries. Although not every comic book fan would consider him an anti hero, people would still associate anger and broodiness when referring to the character of Bruce Wayne due to his apparent dark nature. Frank Miller s the Dark Knight Returns had changed things; not just did it focus on Batman s broody nature, but it had also expanded on the internal battles that had been the cause of the darkness and the reason for Batman s questionable methods. Miller managed to bring needed humanity to Batman that had been missing in earlier ages. The qualities that made the Dark Knight more in touch with his humanity were; having his origin story trauma affect him until adulthood, experiencing internal psychological conflict, and possessing moral flaws. Throughout book one of the comic, there were several panels in which Bruce Wayne s trauma was mentioned. It seemed that Bruce s childhood trauma of seeing his parents killed had followed him into his adulthood. On pages 22, the reader was clearly able to understand Bruce s internal battle as he attempted to convince himself that [ the Mark of Zorro] is just a movie. That s all it is. By the thirteenth century, religion evolved into numerous faiths that conflicted with one another. Conflicts involved numerous issues such as, who is god, is the chosen god the most powerful god, how to worship god, how one religion converts people to their religion. The issues that segregate different cultures are endless when exploring religion. As differing religions gained strength, cultures formed around people of similar beliefs and ideas creating dominant religions. One dominant religion, the Catholic Church, challenged other dominant religions to convert to Christianity. Religion shaped inter cultural interaction through power, segregation, and diplomacy. Orders Given to the Twelve provides evidence that the Spanish Catholic Church, in New Spain, shaped inter cultural interaction with power. The minister general, Francisco de los Angeles sent twelve apostolic Franciscan friars to New Spain to evangelize the native people to Christianity. De los Angeles told the friars that their hardships, without promise of reward and to death in the line of holy duty in the obediencia such a death is called the palm of martyrdom (Francisco Angelorum, 59). An ANN consists of processing elements known as neurons that are interconnected to each other and work in unison to answer a particular problem [, and] can be used in places where detecting trends and extracting patterns are too complex to be detected by either humans or other computer techniques. Although recent in their explosion in popularity, the underlying logic behind ANNs have existed for nearly a half century , however due to the pervasive and ubiquitous adoption of powerful computational tools in our contemporary society, ANNs have had a sort of renaissance, much to the avail of scientists, engineers, and consumers. The current cutting edge in deep learning and ANNs focuses highly on both their ability to model and interpret complex data, and their ability to be put to scale due through optimization and parallelization. The current framework for designing ANNs is one that is widely available, with a myriad of tools facilitating their development. The photograph depicts six men, five United States Marines and one United States Navy corpsman, raising the United States flag on Mount Suribachi, during the battle of Iwo Jima in World War II. Raising the flag on Iwo Jima was the second flag raising of the day, the first being raised early in the morning after the area was secure. Joe Rosenthal s photo was printed thousands of times, won the Pulitzer Prize for Photography, and has been made into stamps and statutes. Rosenthal uses color, lines, and structure to convey the message that the United States won the war. Rosenthal utilizes the black and white color of the photo to help convey his message of sadness. During World War II, over 6,000 marines were killed in battle, so the dark grey and black help project the message that it was a time of and sadness. Over the years a large number of small and medium size companies have grown in the market. Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have been contributing so much towards the GDP of India. With their emergence and huge potential, the government of India launched regulated trading platforms for the SMEs, which allows them to get listed without bringing an IPO. The stock exchanges for these enterprises were introduced so that these firms can do better in financing activities for themselves. Of course, there is an option of adding debt, which also helps improve the overall return on equity, but the cost of raising debt for SMEs is relatively higher. High interest expense does not look very good on the profit and loss statement of a growing company. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The small washers could have affected the results because we were unaware of whether or not their masses were equal. After conducting the experiment, it was discovered that the masses were not equal even though they looked as though they were. This could have affected the results because the mass difference might have made it so that one block would move with less amount of washers even though the mass was more. Another error that may have affected the results was the possibility of someone accidentally bumping the table as the experiment was being conducted. If the table was bumped, that would make it so the block could have been moved which would make the results unreliable. The ridge between one piece of the cloth and the other may have affected the results my the ridge hindering the block s movement. Seum Bilirubin Normal liver functions are characterized by balanced activities of the enzymes AST, ALT, and ALP (used as serum marker enzymes), which are found in high concentrations in the cytoplasm of liver cells. In hepatic injury, the lysosomal instability due to CCl4 leads to leakage of these marker enzymes into the blood stream, (Celik, et al., 2009). Serum bilirubin is one of the most sensitive tests employed in the diagnosis of hepatic diseases. It provides useful information about how well the liver is functioning. Bilirubin, a chemical breakdown product of hemoglobin, is conjugated with glucuronic acid in hepatocytes to increase its water solubility. Unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia may be the result of mass inhibition of the conjugation reaction, and consequent release of bilirubin itself from damaged hepatocytes, (Saravanan, et al., 2006). Silymarin, a mixture of flavonolignanes from milk thistle (Silybum marianum L.), is a hepatoprotective herbal medicine and could effectively prevent CCl4 induced ... This free radical, which is initially formed as relatively unreactive, reacts very rapidly with oxygen to yield a highly reactive trichloromethyl peroxy radical (CCl3OO). Both radicals are capable of binding to proteins or lipids, or abstracting a hydrogen atom from an unsaturated lipid, thus, initiating lipid peroxidation (Halliwell, and Gutteridge, 1990; Williams, and Burk, 1990; Lee, and Jeong, 2002). Lipid peroxidation may cause peroxidative tissue damage in inflammation, cancer, aging, ulcer, cirrhosis, and atherosclerosis. Therefore, inhibition of the cytochrome P450 dependent oxygenase activity could cause a reduction in the level of toxic reactive metabolites and a decrease in tissue injury. This example happens in northern Ireland where a small short line of rocks is arranged into odd hexagonal shapes. To highlight this principle further, Mr. Du Sautoy moved onto another example in nature which should be very close to home and that is bees. Bees make their hives out of a precious substance to them known as wax. Was, being very hard for them to produce, is put into the most efficient and space saving form as possible. This shape is again, the hexagon. When anything comes into the universe it tries to become the most efficient shape it can possibly be. An example that Mr. Du Sautoy gives is bubbles. Bubbles are ... So, when putting the most efficient singular shape together many times, it will eventually create a lot of hexagons. This is the reason for the exquisite looking beach and why bees chose to make their hives in the shape of hexagons. It is the most efficient shape that can be mass reproduced. Next, Mr. Du Sautoy moved onto the study of measuring the Earth and shapes, in other words geometry. The example Mr. Du Sautoy uses is that of mines. Deep into the Earth in Germany there are perfectly cubic shaped salt crystals. These crystals are created so perfectly because the atoms of sodium and chlorine are perfectly cubic. This translates into the larger crystals being perfectly cubic. Mr. Du Sautoy expresses how the Greeks seemed obsessed with five common shapes in geometry. When diving deep into atomic structure we see these shapes all over from viruses to salt. Next, Mr. Du Sautoy moved onto talking about a painter known as Jackson Pollock. Simon Frith argues that genre categorization is a tool for record companies in order to gain maximum profit from their recording artists The underlying record company problem, in other words, how to turn music into a commodity, is solved in generic terms (1996, p. 76). An example of this is Rhythm Blues , originally referred to as race music, the term rhythm blues trended in 1949 as a means to describe music recorded by black artists. Relating back to the overlapping of musical styles in genre, rhythm blues serves as a direct and immediate source for styles of rock n roll that rose to popularity in the mid twentieth century, however its historical impact, as well as its artists and character have had limited acknowledgement (Shaw, 1980, p.71). Garofalo (1987) even claimed until the Second World War Black and country and western writers were routinely excluded from the society (p.78). An example of this suppressed attention are the early recordings of Rock n Roll artist Elvis Presley, Shaw notes that, before gaining fame, Presley s five Sun disks had included songs originally written and recorded by a black Rhythm Blues artist (1980. P.71). Shaw argues that while rock n roll is a white derivative of R B the two can easily be distinguished, presenting a number of distinctions, R B comprises the 1940s and early 50s era, while rock n roll surfaces in the mid 1950s (1980, p.74). Other distinctions include sociological aspects, such as R B being the product of the black experience in a segregated world...forcing them to find entertainment in...black locations (Shaw, 1980, p.74). In this aspect, R B has been maintained as a musical aspect throughout its history, best explained by this quote from Honkers and Shouters (1978) R B stemmed from a rich, indigenous folk tradition whereas pop music was a mishmash of European influences (Shaw, 1980, p.78). R B received recognition in its role for the emergence of rock n roll in the 1970s, providing an example of how those two genres have been negotiated by scholars to offer roots and origins of genres in popular ... However, how much truth lies in that phrase or belief? If one is to examine the nature of this concept, beauty first and foremost needs a specific definition. Beauty is that which brings enjoyment to the person who observes or contemplates. The answer may seem self evident when examining different cultures around the world. Ethiopian women for example, wear a lower lip clay plate to represent social class and beauty within the tribe; the bigger, the more admirable. Astonishingly enough, any woman in the United States seen wearing a lower lip clay plate would reach an extremely high level of deviance. However, there are none to argue against the unexplainable beauty of the Swiss Alps. In re evaluation the over used cliché, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder raises room for debate, discussion, and consideration. In order to comprehend beauty in an objective form versus a subjective form, the difference between the two need clarification. Objective truths are based on facts pertaining to the physical and material world. Primary qualities for example, are objective. The size, shape, and motion of a substance remain true whether or not there is someone present to perceive these things. On the other hand, secondary qualities are subjective. Subjectivity requires a perceiver to perceive the affects of a given substance. Sound, taste, color and smell ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
