Meaning Of Sacrament
The word sacrament comes from Latin word Sacramentum the Greek word mysterion is equivalent
to Sacramentum and it is used by Paul in Ephesians when he is speaking about marriage. This is a
great foreshadowing Mysterion; I mean that it refers to Christ and the church. In later usage, the
term Sacramentum emphasizes the visible sign of the hidden reality of salvation which was
indicated by the term Mysterium. In this case, Christ himself is the mystery of salvation For there
is no other mystery of God, except Christ Jesus. The synonymous of the word Sacramentum in the
Bible is Mysterion, Orthodox Church uses the word mystery to mean sacrament.
The saving work of Jesus and sanctifying humanity is the sacrament of salvation, is revealed and
active in the Church s sacraments and which Eastern Churches also call the holy mysteries. The
seven sacraments are the signs and instruments by which the Holy Spirit spreads the ... Show more

A sacrament properly speaking is that which is ordained to signify our sanctification. In which
three things may be considered, the very cause of our sanctification, which is Christ s passion.
The form of our sanctification, which are grace and the virtues, and the ultimate end of our
sanctification, which is eternal life. And all these are signified by the sacraments. Consequently,
a sacrament is a sign that is both a reminder of the past that is the passion of Christ and an
indication of that which is effected in us by Christ s passion. That is grace and a prognostic that
is a foretelling of future. St Augustine has a different way of explaining the sacraments, for him
the sacraments are visible words and relationship with Christ and the Church when He identifies
them as visible words to be received in faith. Sacraments are visible signs of invisible reality.
Sacraments both reveal and veil their inner

Conscience In I Hunt Killers, By Barry Lyga
One or more traumatic events can weaken one s conscience. Conscience is a feeling or voice in
one s mind that acts as a guide to the rightness or wrongness of one s actions. Having a
conscience allows you to be able to bring yourself back to reality, to face the truth and take
responsibility over your actions. Traumatic experiences can weaken your conscience so it will
no longer be able to keep you in reality. Serial killers, or the criminally insane lack conscience and
that s why they are able to harm one or a bunch of people, without realizing how it affects others.
I am interested in the minds of serial killers who are cold hearted and have no remorse for what
they have done. I believe that there is specific reason deep down hidden behind their heartless
persona that has caused them to act a violent way. I take interest in the minds of the criminally
insane because they tend to lose the ability to function mentally due to a traumatic experience or

With reference to the learning activities in Week 2, discuss the purpose and functions of the youth
justice system in England and Wales in terms of your own practice and experience.
Introduction
In this assignment I am going to discuss the purpose and functions of the YouthJustice System. I
will start by exploring the build up to the legislations that underpins the Youth Justice System which
is the Crime and Disorder Act 1998. I will also discuss the purpose and functions of Youth Justice
System and how my role contributes to their declared objectives. Finally I will conclude by
indicating the effectiveness of the Youth Justice System.

When assessing a young person s needs, I use The Scaled Approach framework Asset, created by
the YJB. Asset is a structured assessment; it provides a concise perception into the welfare of
young person, identifying needs and risk to the public and the probability of re offending. With this
information I am able to identify and address specific risk factors, creating effective intervention
programmes, building on protective factors. This contributes to the youth justice systems objective
to prevent the likelihood of re offending.
In order to create and deliver structured interventions tailored to individual needs, I provide young
people with a What Do You Think form (questions directed at their personal life) to gain an
indication of their views. I use a VARK (Visual/Aural/Read/Write/Kinaesthetic) questionnaire
which helps me identify their learning styles. For interventions to be effective and to reduce the
likelihood re offending, I build on protective factors such as interest s, hobbies and establishing
future goals to help young people focus on positive areas of their life.
Panel meetings allow me to incorporate the main aims of the Youth Justice System. Prior to the
meetings, I liaise with Victim Support to ascertain whether the victim or a representative would like
to participate in the process of restorative

Sexual Assault At The West Chester University Of Pennsylvania
One in five women are sexually assaulted while in college (Not Alone, 2014). In our class of
twenty women that means that possibly five women have been sexually assaulted. Out of the five
women that I stated could have been sexually assaulted they may have known the perpetrator and
often will not report what has happened. According to the spring count of students completed by
West Chester University, 9,211 of those students were females ( Headcount Enrollment , 2014). If
I go by the statistic mentioned earlier that one in five women is assaulted that would mean that
1,842 women have been sexually assaulted while enrolled at West Chester University of
Pennsylvania. Out of 1,842 possible assaults only four were reported last year. Two of which the
victims knew prior to the assault. Rankin and Associates consulting conducted a Climate
Assessment on West Chester University in September of 2010, a section of the results focused on
sexual assault on students. According to the report seven people who reported a sexual assault to
the university described their reactions to the universities response. Two students shared the way
they felt the response was inappropriate or poor. One described that they felt the suspension for one
semester was not an appropriate response to an admitted rape, that public safety lost the victims
statement, judicial affairs painted the victim offender as innocent, and that the registrar protected
the offender putting the victim in harm s way and everyone

Quantity And Portfolio Returns From Benchmark Index
Part B:
Both excess and portfolio returns were calculated in the previous section. Subtraction of the
portfolio returns from the ASX 200 benchmark returns yields the tracking error figures. Correlation
figure for portfolio against ASX 200 benchmark was 0.4568 or 45.68%.
The correlation coefficient interval is limited to integer values of both negative and positive one.
Assets can be perfectly correlated at both extremes, (Brailsford, Heaney Bilson, 2011, p. 25). All
four asset class correlation figures (A REITS, infrastructure funds, domestic and international ETFs)
measured against ASX 200 benchmark will be looked at in detail.
Three of the four asset classes measured against the ASX 200 benchmark had positive correlations.

include an appreciation of the Australian dollar, heavy losses sustained due to the Global
Financial Crisis between 2008 and 2009 and stagnated growth throughout the previous decade of
2.1%, (Brailsford, Heaney Bilson, 2011, p. 87). The loss of investment returns can be minimised
by undertaking due diligence and research into asset categories on the investors behalf, (Brailsford,

transition of government power from The Netherlands to Indonesia affected advancement of the
Indonesian stock market, (Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative, 2013). Progression stagnated due
to the absence of equity financing, minimal income growth and overexertion of financial
institutions throughout the nation. The stock exchange re established in 1977 as the Jakarta Stock

financial institutions and profitability shortages. Listings occurred with the assistance of forced
government intervention, (Kung, Caverhill McLeod, 2010, p. 330).

Literary Realism Of The Iron Mills And The Yellow...
Literary realism s goal is to invoke compassion within its readers. By learning and experiencing
something of the characters lives in the story, one of the hopes for realism is that by invoking
sympathy within the reader, social injustice may be dealt with. Two examples that use form to
reach the end goal of compassion are Rebecca Harding Davis Life in the Iron Mills and The Yellow
Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Rebecca Harding Davis Life in the Iron Mills uses an
embedded narrative to tell the story of Deb and Hugh, and the daily struggles of Deb s life. Life
in the Iron Mills was written in 1861, two years prior to the Emancipation Proclamation. The goal
of this story is to feel compassion for those in the lower class and to attempt to change the structure
of the American class hierarchy. An unnamed middle class narrator begins the story by describing
the town in which the story takes place. It is described as a town filled with smoke;
The idiosyncrasy of this town is smoke. It rolls sullenly in slow folds from the great chimneys of
the iron foundries, and settles down in black, slimy pools on the muddy streets. Smoke on the
wharves, smoke on the dingy boats, on the yellow river clinging in a coating of greasy soot to the
house front, the two faded poplars, the faces of passers by (3).
Following the description of the hazardous town, the unnamed narrator then proceeds to tell the
story of Deb and Hugh, and how thirty years ago, Hugh was a furnace

2. Company History
Before there was Apple Inc., there were two young high school friends, Steven Jobs and Steven
Wozniak. These two young geniuses were extremely interested in technology and electronics,
and they used this passion to find employment. Jobs worked for Atari, and Wozniak worked for
Hewlett Packard. In April of 1976, in a garage with just $1,300, the two Stevens came together to
form a dynamic duo. With Wozniak s flair for computer design, and Jobs ability to look further
into the future, they both created the Apple computer. Now branding began to emerge as Ronald
Wayne became a 3rd founder of Apple Inc. since was responsible for creating the company s first
logo which he later resigned because he believed that the company would pose a financial risk.
The new logo was created by Ron Janov designs. The company s first president was Mike Scott.
The company was not taken seriously until 1977 when the company came out with the Apple II,
which was the first personal computer to come in a plastic case and include color graphics, at this
point Apple Inc. became incorporated. The company continued to improve with the introduction of
Apple III. In 1983, Apple Inc. became the fastest growing company in history, and at this time

The Lecture On Domestic Violence Essay
The Lecture taken by Shine explored the changes and influences of the Domestic Protection Act,
1982 and the Domestic Violence Act, 1996. The presentation put emphasis on the law and systems
in dealing with domestic violence. Included also in the lecture, was the analysis of protection
orders and police interference. Protection orders are in practice for the urgent safety of the victims
of domestic violence. They are applied for through the family court with evidence of domestic
violence or potential danger (Morden, 2016). The lecture also demonstrated that the law does not
tolerate even single acts of abuse and takes procedures very seriously. The various acts are in place
and are continually improving to protect New Zealanders that may be in danger of abuse.
The first reading, Gender bias, fathers rights, domestic violence and the Family court , argues
that laws regarding domestic violence are bias towards men. This accusation is supported by the
accessibility that women have to use or misuse protection orders. The law gives women the
opportunity to give themselves immediate custody over their children and property (Davis
Powell, 2004). The gender bias against men is also given credibility by the large proportion of
fathers denied access to their children at all. However, this legislation has proved to be positive as
the majority of cases prove that danger is most prominent when the partner leaves the abuser. The
question of whether the law is beneficial for the

Skype In End Of Life Care
The authors did so many things right when writing this article. It was a good length, considering
the topic it covered was so specific. They provided an adequate amount of background statistics
and information on social media and how it is used today, to get a better understanding of the
role of technology overall in our lives today. I also liked that they admitted the limitations of
their article; for example the reader only gets the case studies from one perspective when the
others are also important to know. They also did a great job of choosing cases that show the reader
how Skype can and did make a huge difference for these families and their dying loved ones. There

In the beginning I wish the article went into more detail about the evolution of the music
therapy profession and how their use of music can create greater results in their patients than
other care providers using music. It also could have been better organized to go from discussing
music interventions in the broad clinical setting to focusing in on the end of life care setting
instead of jumping back and forth between them. I feel that the article was comprised largely of
information for the general clinical setting instead of the palliative and hospice setting, which
was supposed to be the article topic since the article s title is Music as a Therapeutic Resource in
End of Life Care . Overall, I enjoyed reading this article for a multitude of reasons. Their choice
of vocabulary made it easily understandable, the topic was very interesting to me, and the fact that
I can use the information I learned in my future career as a nurse is a great benefit. After reading
this article I have a greater respect and understanding of music therapy and the effects it can have
on patients and their families. This is why I would recommend others to read this article, especially
individuals working in healthcare settings alongside music therapy

Jeep Research Paper
Personal Question
Why do I keep my Jeep when it keeps breaking down on me? That is the question that I have
asked myself multiple times over the summer. To this day, I have put more time, effort and money
into my Jeep than it is actually worth. So why continue to restore this beautifully ancient beast?
Well, the answer is actually very simple; I love working on it. When I was first told that I was
getting an automobile, I expected to go out and hand pick one that I deemed suitable for my
everyday tasks. To my surprise, my father pretty much narrowed the selection process down for
me, providing me with a specific list of Craigslist adds that he had compiled during his work day.
After browsing this selection, I had settled on a 1987 light blue Jeep Wrangler, with a soft top and a
sport roll cage. This jeep came with the legendary fuel injected 4.0 Liter, 6 cylinder engine, aptly
nicknamed the Tank , due to its sturdy construction of cast iron. The fact that we found this jeep
for under five thousand dollars was astonishing to me, so I immediately jumped on the opportunity
presented to me. When my father and I had finally settled on this Jeep, we drove to savannah to
inspect it ourselves. When we arrived at the seller s house, we ... Show more content on

The parties we believe to be most at fault for the crisis in this case are a) the Audit Firm engaged in
the Enron audit (Arthur Andersen); b) Enron Management (Kenneth Lay, Jeffrey Skilling, Andrew
Fastow; and c) the SEC.
The Public Accounting Firm: Arthur Andersen
The auditor has the responsibility to evaluate the risk of material fraud, including: * Incentives and

When being questioned by Congressional investigators regarding the scandal, he simply passed the
blame by stating that he is not an accountant.
Andrew Fastow was the CFO and created the financial infrastructure for Enron. He, like Skilling,
was hailed as one of the top executives in the country as evidenced by his Excellence in Capital
Structure Management award presented to him by CFO Magazine. As the CFO of Enron, Fastow
should have known better than to do what he did with the creation and operation of the SPEs. His
brass was at such a high level that he even named several of them after his children. He, like
Kenneth Lay, refused to take any accountability by refusing to testify before Congress in 2002.
SEC and FASB
The SEC and FASB also share the responsibility for the fraud scandal that took place. The
organisms should have passed stronger accounting standards to regulate auditing. Both
organizations were in favor of the 3% rule for SPEs. This rule stated that a SPE needed only a
3% investment from an outside investor to be considered independent. This rule allowed Enron to
discharge all its unprofitable businesses in SPEs to avoid consolidating losses. That is, the SEC
and FASB endorsed a law that allowed companies to dump considerable losses in off balance
entities. A case of fraud was bound to happen.
The Auditors, the SEC, and the FASB made it easy for Enron s management to commit one of the
biggest frauds in the history of

Heart Religion Research Paper
Heart religion is another strong characteristic of evangelicalism. Since the reformation, when
Martin Luther (1483 1546) called the sacramental system of the medieval Roman church as the
Babylonian Captivity of the Church , protestants had the tendency to distrust tradition . But the
process of the Protestantismwas changing the meaning of faith from faith expectancy to faith
doctrine. People even once attempted to verify one s position as a Christian by accepting correct
creeds . Only when the era of Evangelicalism came, personal conversion was seen as a norm for
Christians, there was an outburst of desires to have powerful, transforming personal encounters

From its theology, the central of the movement was an intense experience of being filled with the
Spirit or of awakening to a new life through the transforming power of the Spirit. The process of
charismatic spirituality was from Search, searching for the God who is revealed in Christ, to
Encounter, encountering with the same God by means of the Holy Spirit, and then Transformation,
being transformed or renewed as the consequences of the encountering experiences. From its
practice, the charismatics had given a full expression to the importance of experience. Especially
their personal and deep worship, the worshippers were given freedom to express a wide range of
human sensibilities: singing, clapping, concert prayer, the praise choruses, and kinesthetic
movements together provided avenues of expression. Besides it, a variety of modes of sensibility in
their ritual, including celebration, contemplation, transcendental efficacy, penitent/purgation,

Social Hierarchy In To Kill A Mockingbird
Douglas Adams once wrote, Don t you understand that we need to be childish in order to
understand? Only a child sees things with perfect clarity because it has not developed all those
filters which prevent us from seeing things that we do not expect to see. To Kill a Mockingbird
was written by Harper Lee and it examines the life of the residents of the fictional town of
Maycomb through the eyes of a child. Incredibly paramount events in history largely shape the
beliefs of the Maycombians. The story is set in the southern state of Alabama roughly seventy years
after the end of the Civil War. Although slavery was abolished, the racial discrimination towards
African Americans and the belief that white people were better than their darker counterparts...

The adults of the town believed in the archaic system so firmly, their children were conditioned to
grow up with the same futile beliefs. Jem sums up the entirety of the social system in the twenty
third chapter when he states that: There s four kinds of folks in the world. There s the ordinary
kind like us and the neighbors, there s the kind like the Cunninghams out in the woods, the kind
like the Ewells down at the dump, and the Negroes. The Maycombians consistently abide by the
status quo, and many of the citizens treat people of lower classes differently and often terribly. In
the book, the community treated the Finches and their neighbors with extremely high regard. Even
though Atticus gained a bad reputation because he defended a black man, the town s residents
treated him better than those who were thought to be of subordinate classes. The Finches relation
to the town founder, Simon Finch, also highly influenced the way others treated them. Atticus was
a lawyer, and this was considered to be one of very few professional job positions held in the town.
Jem classified the Finches, and the neighbors as one type of people, the common folk, and they
were treated the best in the entire community because they had more money than the others and

Female Relationships in Virginia Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway
Clarissa Dalloway, the central character in Virginia Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway, is a complex figure
whose relations with other women reveal as much about her personality as do her own musings.
By focusing at length on several characters, all of whom are in some way connected to Clarissa,
Woolf expertly portrays the ways females interact: sometimes drawing upon one another for things
which they cannot get from men; other times, turning on each other out of jealousy and insecurity.
Clarissa interacts with women in both of these ways. Her relationship with Sally Seton, for
example, is quite positive. Once upon a time, in their youth, Clarissa admired the ... Show more

Sally stopped; picked a flower; kissed her on the lips. The whole world might have turned upside
down! The others disappeared; there she was alone with Sally. (35)To say that the kiss is the most
exquisite moment of her life shows that Clarissa feels utterly at ease being physically intimate with
a woman. One might argue that this moment is so great that everything that follows pales, leaving
Clarissa s sexual life as a married woman dull and uninteresting.
For, although Clarissa is not necessarily a lesbian, Woolf makes it clear that her marriage to
Richard is one of convenience, resulting from her need to conform to rigid social regulations.
Whether she could find true happiness with any man is debatable, but a possible answer lies in
the fact that she rejects Peter Walsh. Judging by the description of their courtship and time
together, Peter is a lot closer to Clarissa emotionally than Richard is. Therefore, it seems that had
she desired a relationship with a man, she would have chosen Peter. Since her true physical
attraction is for women, however, she decides to marry for social reasons and weds Richard.
The effect of Sally on Clarissa s life runs deep, as she is a close friend as well as a physical
attraction. In fact, in

Ross Sea Ecosystem
This article explores the possibility of threat to the ecosystem and the food chain of the Ross Sea.
The famous Antarctic toothfish plays a vital role in the food chain of the Ross Sea because it
serves as a main meal for higher order organisms. Researchers as well as locals have noticed the
decrease in the Antarctic toothfish because fishermen were not catching nearly as many toothfish
as they were before 2002. This observation was puzzling because the use of a new tool for
monitoring the amount of Antarctic toothfish in 2014 showed that the prevalence of the Antarctic
toothfish was similar to that before 2002. These findings pushed researchers to hypothesize that
either the Antarctic toothfish had recently returned to the McMurdo Sound or... Show more content

The only piece of information used to determine that there was a lack in Antarctic toothfish was
the 40 year record of toothfish reduction after 2001. This record was not explained thoroughly in
this article. It would be more useful if the data was given for each year in question after 2001. This
would be used to compare if there was a general decrease in Antarctic toothfish from year to year.
Due to there being a decrease in Antarctic toothfish, an immediate accusation was made towards the
Ross Sea toothfish fishery for the fault of this decrease. This accusation is not supported because
the authors disclosed that the fishery had not reported any increase in the amount of Antarctic
toothfish caught by their fishery during that time. Another experimental flaw was the use of a new
program for monitoring the Antarctic toothfish. This large of a discrepancy between observation
and experimental results could be due to an error resulting from using new equipment. In order to
have effective results, credible equipment that was known to work and give correct results should
have been used to give the final findings. Not only was new monitoring equipment employed, but
new monitoring techniques were implemented as well. Only one trial was completed using the new
equipment and techniques. Multiple trials should have been performed to compare if the

Book Review Of The Rhetorical Analysis Of Myth sGene
1. I was beginning to see that Phineas could get away with anything. I couldn t help envying him
that a little, which was perfectly normal. There was no harm in envying even your best friend a
little. 25 Gene s inner dialogue is crucial since it gives the audience a chance to reveal his true
colors. Throughout the book, he seems to make logical excuses for his delusional actions.
Technically, there isn t harm in envying your best friend, but the way that Gene is carrying this
conversation with himself makes me believe that his logic is unstable. That in this case, there is
going to be harm in envying your best friend. This quote foreshadows that something bad will
happen to their friendship. 2. Everyone has a moment in history which belongs particularly to
him. It is the moment when his emotions achieve their most powerful sway over him, and
afterward when you say to this person the world today or life or reality he will assume that you

imprinted itself upon him, and he carries the stamp of that passing moment forever. 40 I found this
quote to be a bit strange. Gene later goes on to claim that his moment was the war, but I believe it
to be his personal resentment towards Phineas. 3. The thought was, You and Phineas are even

Many characters in the play find themselves in a situation where they feel life is not fair and the
official legal system can not help them.
Within this essay I will analyse and discuss the ways in which justice is established.
Eddie Carbone is the main character and protagonist although to give him the hero title is
questionable. He has had the most encounters with justice whether it be gaining it or seeking it.
Eddie was once a much respected man in the neighbourhood, but he is very ignorant. His
authority is obvious as he lays down the rules and they are followed by Catherine and Beatrice, if
they ever wanted to go astray from these rules they would have to see to him first.
Eddie s obsession toward Catherine is reason for the large scale climax. He is very over
protective and would not let Catherine have any contact with any men, even his own friends. It
is very early on in the play when Catherine gets annoyed at this and tells Eddie she wishes there
was one guy [he] couldn t tell [her] things about! this showed that he would portray most other
men as inappropriate in the hope that she will see him as perfect and feel the way he does for her.
Once Marco and Rodolfo arrive Eddie becomes uneasy, Catherine is amazed by Rodolfo s
appearance as he is so light compared to Marco,
Eddie interrupts the conversation on this as he does not like where it is going. As the play goes on

Penne Restad s Christmas In America
A Review of Penne Restad s Christmas in America: A History
Penne Restad s Christmas in America is a demonstration of the change in American acceptance of
Christmas and the understanding of what the holiday is. The book shows that the evolution from
the humble European origins coming together in the United States through the 18th and 19th
centuries cumulating in an amalgamation of different traditions to create a more unified American
holiday. Events that propelled the solidification of the holiday are specific to the geographic
separation creating pockets of cultural tradition to emerge without relative interference. The
bedrock of Christmas history in America paved the way to ritualistic materialism in the 1800s that

People would give gifts to promote the emotional aspects of relationships and to reinforce the
pattern of spiritual bonds. Christmas in America profoundly investigates the degree of bonds
established in society, including the relationship among slave and master where even slaves
could receive charity during holidays. This relationship was of course predicate on the slaves
previous work, and was often done to bolster the self image of the slave owner, yet nonetheless
incentivised slaves to work well aspiring for the prospect of a reward. The dynamic was not unlike
how Santa Claus became a conditional benefactor for children, encouraging them to be inexplicitly

love through homemade or store bought

A Violent Society Causes Domestic Violence Essay
People who are close to one another need to trust each other. We should trust our parents not to
hurt us, and to give us what we need to grow. When someone is abused, the trust is broken.
Domestic violence is the use of physical force within a home in any form of abuse. Abuse can be
a whole range of physical behaviour, slapping, hitting, beating, or using weapons to hurt someone.
It includes verbal and emotional abuse, where someone is constantly insulted and made to feel sad
and worthless. It can also include rape and sexual abuse. Sexual abuse is when someone forces
another to have sexual intercourse or do other sexual things against their will. Another form of
abuse is total control where one adult makes all the decisions for another... Show more content on

Widespread belief that women were intellectually inferior to men led most societies to limit women
s education to learning domestic skills. Well educated, upper class men controlled most positions of
employment and power in society. Traditionally, female family members existed only in terms of
their relationships to men. As daughters, subject to the control and whim of fathers, women
represented a means of economic or political gain through marital arrangements. As wives, they
became their husbands property, and symbols of power and status. Violence against women served
to coerce their acquiescence in this scheme and perpetuate subservience to male relatives. Legally
permitted abuse of women continued to exist in many Western cultures until the late nineteenth
century. Early Roman societies deemed a wife the property of her husband and therefore subject
to his control. According to early Roman law, a man could beat, divorce, or murder his wife for
offenses committed by her which belittled his honour or threatened his property rights. Roman
society considered enforcement of such rights of control essentially a private matter, and thus
failed to subject the husband to either public scrutiny or disapproval. Both the Old and New
Testament attest to the belief in early teachings in the obedience of women. Indeed, Eve s creation
from the rib of Adam provided an excuse for

Influence Most of my time in high school was spent on the baseball field. It s where I met my
friends, made some of the best memories of my life, and learned things that I will carry with me
forever. My biggest influence was my head coach who played baseball here at Warner. I didn t just
learn the game of baseballon that field. I saw what it meant to be a family and to have each others
backs. Orangewood baseball is why I am who I am today. Not everything I learned in high school
was positive though. Freshman year was the first time I was introduced to tobacco. I was hanging
out with some of the older guys on the baseball team and they asked me if I wanted some. From
the lightheadedness to the inability to feel my legs, I knew I was hooked.

Compare And Contrast Politics And Political System
Here in this topic an issue arises that why we do compare and compare the political systems of the
different regions, states, and countries and as well as domestic politics.
To answer the bigger question what is politics and political systems. Politics mean the activities
associated are attached with the governance of a country or area especially the debate between
parties or regimes having power. Politics is also to struggle to gain power to rule and govern
governments. On the other hand governments have access to resources and powers to rule over
people and as well as empower people through the majority winning political party who wins to rule
and impose.
Some philosophers consider politics it forces for good while others take it as force for evil. In
seventeenth and eighteenth century were the opinions that if no government existed, there would
be state of nature. Some philosophers conceive the idea of Social Contract on which societies come

More recently, the food trend has turned into pre heated or pre cooked meals to take away
(Schlosser, 2001).
In recent years, the fast food industry has been facing significant challenges due to the increase in
the consumer awareness on the production process and health concerns. The consumer awareness
on health factors and the marketers detecting the possibility of change in the consumer taste have
led the firms to expand their product lines in drinks more healthy foods (Schlosser, 2001). In other
words, the industry is fighting saturation by creating a much more diverse variety of offerings.
2What are Organic Foods?
The changes in the consumer taste and the increase in the consumer awareness in eating healthy
products and organic foods have increased immensely in the past few years throughout the whole
world as well as the UK (BBC, 2001).
To have a healthy life, eating organic and healthy is a great way to start. The confusion among the
consumers is due to lack of information towards nutrition and individually the amount and what the
body needs. It is not only going to a shop and purchasing fruits, vegetables, whole grains etc. but
being aware of how these goods are grown raised and how they would influence the individual s
health and the environment.
The expression organic denotes the way agricultural products are grown and processed (Fromartz,
2006). Certain requirements should be met in order for a product to get the label organic such as

being overweight; I think our state is to blame to. It is not our fault there is not much to do; the
state needs to find more activities for kids and adults. I think that is why people in other states

He had three above the line deductions, as follows:
1. Educator Expenses;
2. Moving Expenses; and
3. He paid alimony to his ex wife.
He had from Adjusted Gross Income ( AGI ) deductions, as follows:
1. State and local taxes;
2. Mortgage interest paid;
3. Charitable Contributions; and
4. Unreimbursed employee expenses, tax preparation fees, and a safe deposit box.

Investigating Cognitive Thinking Processes and the Age at Which They
Develop
This research was based on the work of Jean Piaget and was influenced mainly by him, the aim
of the research was to assess the differences in children s cognitive development (thinking
processes) at age ranges from 4 6, 7 8 and 9 and above and to find out whether they would be able
to use their logic in 3 tasks originally set out by Piaget. A Lab experiment was thought best
because of the ability to replicate, in this case it was a classroom in the setting (a nursery setting
in Trowbridge, Wiltshire) and 12 different children of varying ages were used as opposed to the
same age group or the same gender. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the stage where a child does not know that physical objects remain in existence even when
out of sight (object permanence).
2. Preoperational stage (ages 2 7) The child is not yet able to conceptualise abstractly and needs
concrete physical situations.
3. Concrete operations (ages 7 11) As physical experience accumulates, the child starts to
conceptualise, creating logical structures that explain his or her physical experiences. Abstract
problem solving is also possible at this stage. For example, arithmetic equations can be solved with
numbers, not just with objects.
4. Formal operations (beginning at ages 11 15) By this point, the child s cognitive structures are
like those of an adult and include conceptual reasoning.
During all development stages, the child experiences his or her environment using whatever mental
maps he or she has constructed so far. If the experience is a repeated one, it fits easily or is
assimilated into the child s cognitive structure so that he or she maintains mental equilibrium. If the
experience is different or new, the child loses equilibrium, and alters his or her cognitive structure
to accommodate the new conditions. This way, the child erects more and more adequate cognitive
structures.

Bulimia Nervosa Essay
A psychological disorder is a pattern of abnormal behavior that is associated with states of
significant emotional distress, such as anxiety or depression, or with impaired behavior or ability to
function, such as difficulty holding a job or even distinguishing reality form fantasy. (Abnormal
Psychology; 3)
There are people that become embarrassed by their psychological disorder or abnormal behavior
and refuse to receive help because they are afraid of what society and even their family may think
of them. Therefore, they do not seek the professional help that they need to be diagnosed properly
for the disorder or to be treated properly for the psychological disorder that they may or may not
have.
A psychological disorder can also be bulimia nervosa. Bulimia nervosa is an eating disorder
characterized by recurrent episodes of gorging on large quantities of food, followed by use of
inappropriate ways to prevent weight gain. (Abnormal Psychology; 338)
People that are bulimic tend to go into a depressive stage because they have a greater fear of
becoming over weight than any other person does. The diagnostic and statistical manual of mental
disorders (DSM) diagnosis of bulimia nervosa requires that binge eating episodes and the
accompanying compensatory behaviors occur at an average frequency of at least once a week for
three months. (Abnormal Psychology; 338)
Bulimia nervosa is psychological and life threatening but both men and women will proceed in

Papers On Child Sexual Abuse
Child sexual abuse is a subject that has received much attention in recent years and has caused
some concern s in our society. Sexual abuse is when one person dominates and exploits another
person by the means of suggestion or sexual activity. This form of abuse continues to pose serious
and pervasive mental health complications to the victimand their family. There is increasing
documentation that a child and adolescent victims of sexual abuseand their non offending parents
and siblings are in need of mental health services (Putnam, 2003). Majority of sexual abuse occurs
during childhood; however, incest is the most common form of sexual abuse. The counselor must
understand that child sexual abusegoes beyond touching and must be aware there is many forms
of sexual abuse to a child. The perpetrator can exploit a child by assaulting them through the
internet, introducing a child to pornography, or convince the child to take inappropriate pictures.
The severity of the sexual act may cause more serious impact, several other factors may influence
the degree of damage to the survivor s experiences. Factors may include the perspective of the
individual, the individual s internal resources, and the individual s level of support (Ratican, 1992).
After the abuse has occurred the families face multiple challenges like change of residence, loss of
income, loss of caregiver and no support from the community. Once those challenges arise these

The Ministers Black Veil By Nathaniel Hawthorne
Many romantic writers focused on the gothic side of romantic literature, from quirky to evil they
tend to draw emotions from the viewer. The focused material is The Ministers Black Veil ,
written by Nathaniel Hawthorne. In the text Mr. Hooper is a preacher who is engaged to
Elizabeth and has recently started hiding his face behind a black veil. The townspeople begin to
think he s gone mad. He is very loving and caring, but known as living his life without much
worries and being a sinful man. While wearing the veil, he preaches and then is buried in it.
Before he dies the only person who is not afraid to question Mr. Hooper about the veil is his
fiancГ©. He does not give Elizabeth a clear answer to wearing the veil, which forces Elizabeth to
believe he s covering up a committed sinby wearing the veil. Throughout Hawthorne s work there
were different actions that his characters portray. These characters are identified as puritans who
fought inner demons between lies and their sanity. In other opinions one may refute that
Hawthorne s purpose of hiding Mr. Hooper under the veil is just his way of dealing with what he
is going through. Hooper does not search for deliverance from his sorrows; instead he resolves to
live his life as best he can while dealing with them, a stance that leaves no room for unpredictable
deliverance from God (Buchanan 6). Here it states that Hooper is dealing with his issues, even
though from the outside he is portraying something else. Although

Why I Want To Be An Engineer
Growing up, Math and science were always my favorite subjects. This led me to desire a career
that incorporates these two subjects. As I furthered my education, I discovered I was very

something I have always enjoyed doing. The high job market, life flexibility, financial security and
social impact are all reasons I have chosen to pursue a career in software engineering. One reason I
want to be an engineeris I enjoy that kind of work. Problem solving is one major part of
engineering, and something I have always enjoyed doing. If I enjoy the work I do, engineering

reduce a great deal of stress that may come with other careers. On top of that, because engineers
are need all over the world, it is a great way to be able to travel. Although it may not be as
relaxing is taking a vacation and traveling, it would still be a great opportunity to see the world.
For these reasons, I am motivated to pursue a career in the engineering field. For me, the most
important attribute for being an engineer is life flexibility. Seeing the life flexibility my mother
has with her engineering job showed me how critical flexibility is. Anytime there was an
emergency, my mother was always able to make herself available due to the flexibility of her job.
My mother is also able to do the majority of her work from home. Having the flexibility to be able

Questions On The Doctrine Of Discovery Essay
Thomas Berumen
AIS 304
Professor Harjo
October 18, 2016
AIS 304 Midterm
1.
The Doctrine of Discovery was a concept used to further colonization and strip land from the
indigenous people. According to Class 7 Lecture, it allowed colonial powers to colonize the land
that they discovered even if indigenous people already lived there. The doctrine provides title to
the nation making the discovery of the land even if the soil is inhabited by natives. Provided the
land excluded European sovereign . When European powers establish rule in what is now the
United States the government was given the ownership of the lands until they felt the need use of
the land. The Indians currently residing in the lands were just inhabitants. The doctrine set for by
Chief Justice Marshall was set forth to mimic colonial powers and prevent further European
expansion on U.S. soils. Following the Johnson v McIntosh case, it established a preventive
measure of Indians and Indian tribes from selling the land to anyone but the United States
government. This was to prevent European colonies to develop in the United States.
The doctrine was important for the development and expansion of colonial powers, but the
implementation was a negative effect by forcefully taking lands from the indigenous. It disowned
the culture and lifestyles of millions. Rationally it is a shame that the government chose to deny
aboriginal title owners as they should have been allowed to keep their land. I agree in the decision

Integrated Healthcare Marketing Strategies
Integrated Healthcare Marketing Strategies
Introduction
The creation and execution of promotional and communications strategies are by definition today
multichannel and multimedia in scope. Combining both online and offline forms of media, the best
practices in integrated marketing communications includes digital media that is inherently more
measurable than offline counterparts, with offline media that is more agile from a messaging
standpoint (Finne, Strandvik, 2012). The accuracy and precision of measurement that online
marketing channels and platforms provide, in addition to the more immediate response generated
from programs, is leading to digital media being the majority of integrated marketing
communications spending globally (Reinold, Tropp, 2012). This has significant implications on the
ethicacy of advertising for healthcare products, as customers demand more authenticity and
transparency through these online channels (Bernoff, Li, 2008). The pervasive use of social media
is re ordering the balance of power between customer and marketer roles in the marketplace (Finne,
Strandvik, 2012). These are all factors healthcare marketers need to keep in mind when designing
their strategic marketing plans.
Bringing Ethicacy Into Integrated Marketing Plans
For any health related product, the integrated marketing communications strategy needs to first
concentrate on the entire customer experience and be cognizant of their needs while striving for
complete authenticity

The Convergence Of Methods Of Storing Files

[where old and new media collide] represents a cultural shift as consumers are encouraged to seek
out new information and make connections among dispersed media content (Jenkins 457). It is
through the help of convergence that old media has developed into the new media Americans see
today. The convergence of methods of storing files is an example of this. Storing files online, is

Dropbox is a cloud storage service; a business that overlooks a users data and makes that data
accessible online. Because Dropbox has introduced people to the idea of accessing wireless data,
this reveals how this type of new media has changed the way that content is produced, distributed,
and consumed. Although the use of either a USB Flash Drive (old media) or Dropbox (new
media) maintains the same objective, that is, to provide people with alternate methods of storing
data, Dropbox is becoming a standard way of accessing data with the use of the internet as a
platform. This in turn, benefits Dropbox users somewhat.
One benefit of transitioning from a USB Flash Drive to Dropbox is that Dropbox allows easy
access to documents. Dropping files into Dropbox essentially stores these files on the online

A Brief Note On Mediates Contact Dependent Homophilic
Dscam:
Mediates contact dependent homophilic repulsion
Dscam diversity underlies a robust cellular recognition mechanism allowing dendrites to distinguish
between surfaces of different cells.
Main arguments is that Dscam mediated self avoidance is a general organizing mechanism
operating throughout Drosophila nervous system.
da neurons associate closely with the epidermis as they extend across the body wall; thus, their
dendrites create a two dimensional meshwork in which developing branches frequently encounter
other dendrites (different from CNS where axons and dendrites form 3D by interaction)
when deficient in Dscam function, individual dendrites do not recognize sister branches and fail to
initiate repulsion, leading to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dscam is required for proper segregation of sister axon branches (Wang et al., 2002), and
analogous to the self avoidance control in da neurons, specific isoforms do not appear to provide
instructive cues for this segregation event. It has been argued that this reflects a role for Dscam in
mediating self recognition and repulsion between these axons
In da neurons, dendrite selfavoidance defects were separable from growth, branching, and targeting
errors and were fully penetrant. Thus, our data directly implicate Dscam in self avoidance and
demonstrate this role at the level of interactions between individual branches.
Mechanism:
identical Dscam ectodomains on the surfaces of isoneuronal dendrites recognize each other and
induce a subsequent repulsive signal that is mediated by domains in the cytoplasmic tail.
How: o First, identical Dscam isoforms expressed in two cell populations in vitro induced their
aggregation in an isoform specific manner, showing that Dscam provides cells with the ability to
distinguish between different cell surfaces. o Second, ectopic (in an abnormal place or position)
expression of identical Dscam isoforms on the dendrites of different cells, which normally overlap,
promoted growth away from each other.
From in vitro adhesion to in vivo repulsion
Our data suggest that the dendrites of da neurons convert an initial Dscam dependent cell surface
interaction into a repulsive response, which leads to dendrite separation and receptive

The relationships that parents have with their kids are something special. Each relationship is
unique in its own way. It s unique in that to be parents or kid to someone else, they don t have to
be the conventional husband, wife, and child. It could be one Dad raising the child by himself. It
could be two moms raising the child. It could be an entire group of people collectively helping to
raise that child. The beauty in it is that the role of the parent and child are endless. But one thing
that every single one of those relationships has in common is that those parents and children share a

Each family has their own traditions and own way of dealing with each other, although, families
can have similarities and differences. One similarity between Chingachgook and Uncas and
Munro and his daughters are that they still deeply care for one another. No matter how much
they fight and argue, at the end of the day, they still love each other because they are family.
Nothing can get between love and their families. But, one difference between the two families is
that Chingachgook treats Uncas with more respect and believes that he is responsible enough to
make most of his own decisions. While at the same time, Munro thinks that his daughters are still
too young and impressionable. He feels that he must still always keep an eye on them and make

Robots Vs Robots
With space travel being a topic much looked at since the middle of the 20th century, it is only
inevitable that man has already entered space and taken that step into space travel. However,
even though man has done so before, it does not necessarily man should continue to do what can
be done by the technological advantages of this age; robots. Having the ability to send
exclusively robotic missions into space provides many advantages that a human accompanied
mission could not also have claim to, one obvious variation being in the safety of a robotic
mission versus a manned mission. Humans are fragile when it comes to being put into
environments other than their own (Colwell Britt, n.d.) and there are a lot of physical health
setbacks. When in zero g in space, human bodies face many changes such as a sudden height
increase, and even face a weakening of the bones that can later lead to bones breaking much
easier from even small accidents ( Manned or Unmanned? , 2001). Humans also face the risk of
being exposed to radiation when there is no atmosphere surrounding them to protect them (
Manned or Unmanned? , 2001) and the temperatures of different planets and elements of space
make it nearly impossible for a human to be able to travel to certain places (Colwell Britt, n.d).
Robots, however, do not face this kind of setback and are much more tolerant to the environment
outside of earth s atmosphere. Human lives are also at risk when in space, and can be lost very

he decides to swim all the way home. His heart was high and he ran across the grass. Making a

The true nature of Neddy is that he has made a habit of rejecting invitations, and as friend after

INTRODUCTION This chapter reviews the concept of Computer Information Systems and
Hardware outsourcing and its advantages and disadvantages to the company. It also focus on the
different types or ways in outsourcing such as by cloud based, managed services and contracting
which is being use by lots of companies worldwide including here in the Philippines as a business
practice in saving cost in expenditures and improving productivity and efficiency of its employees.
It also highlights the world s largest and biggest hardware and software companies, IBM and
Microsoft respectively, as outsourcingpartner for the biggest companies around the world including

Because of the rising cost of information systems functions in some firms, managers are finding
ways on how to control these costs and are considering Information Technology as a capital
expenditures/investments rather than as an operating cost of the firm. Controlling these costs by
outsourcing are one of the options because some firms considered this option as cost effective than
to maintain their own computer centre and information systems staff. Another concept of
outsourcing IT systems is, to pay only for what it uses meaning the company will pay only the
outsourcing partner according to the extent of computer processing that they needed rather than to
build their own computer centre and not utilized or it is underutilized when there is no peak load.
Some firms also outsourced because their information systems personnel can t cope up with the
rapid change of technology. But not all firms may have benefited from outsourcing, there are also
disadvantages of outsourcing that a firm must carefully consider which may or can create serious
problems for the company if they are not well understood, managed and taken for granted. Below
are some of the most popular advantages and disadvantages of Computer Information Systems and

Fast And Slow By Daniel Kahneman
In selected chapters of Thinking, Fast and Slow, Daniel Kahneman challenges the traditional
economic utility model by presenting the prospect theory, where pecuniary variables are no longer
the only determinants. George A. Akerlof and Richel E. Kranton support this challenge by
providing two economic analysis models that include identity as an important variable. While
Kahneman focuses primarily on individuals inability to make decisions based on profit determined
utility values, Akerlof and Kranton emphasize that motivation associated with identity is the
missing component of the traditional utility model.
In order to demonstrate flaws of the traditional view, Kahneman supports three principles of
prospect theory with various examples. First, by pointing out errors in Bernoulli s model and the
indifferent model, Kahneman emphasizes the broad range of the reference point, that it is not only
the change of wealth, but also the context and the mindset. Second, Kahneman analyzes loss
aversion, one of the dominant mindsets. Third, Kahneman argue that sensitivity has great impact
on decision making by providing gambling cases of rare and risky events. With the knowledge of
these three principles, Kahneman further implies that people can be trained to against these
intuitive system one thinking patterns.
While acknowledging the limitation of the prospect theory, that it fails to deal with disappointment
and regret, Kahneman neglects the effect of emotions that human

Writing Can Be A Struggle Essay
Introduction Writing can be a struggle. Even for myself, I am struggling right now to compose
this last paper for my degree. Nevertheless, I have the necessary tools and the mindset to complete
this paper with perfection. My working environment is peaceful. Soft classical music playing, soy
candle burning, and a cup of water next to my computer. (I am not a coffee person). My outline is
fully filled out with the research I want to incorporate into my paper. I know what my end goal is
and the expectations that I must achieve. I am ready to write! Students need this same type of
determination when they are writing. This is especially true for EL students. Based on research
there are three main principles for effectively teaching EL students: (1) generally, effective
practices are likely to be effective with ELs. (2) ELs require additional instructional supports. (3)
The home language can be used to promote academic development (Goldenberg, 2013, p. 5). In
this paper, I am going to highlight a few writing best practices that are research based to use within
a classroom setting that are particular successful for EL students.
Environment
The first practice I am going to discuss is creating a classroom community of writers. Writing is
often ignored, and when it is brought up in the classroom the students view it as a daunting task.
Therefore, it is up to the teacher to change this environment into a positive experience. In the article,

War Between Countries And The Time Frame Of The Vast...
I would like to know more in depth what happened during major wars in the past hundred years
as well as the weapons that changed war since then. History throughout time has been in great
interest to me because it is fun to learn about why certain events happened in time and the impact
that resulted. The topic war, in particular, is the most fascinating thing that occurs throughout
history to me because of the fact that it has been used as a way to dispute conflicts between
countries and the time frame of the vast advancements that have been made in weaponry in the
past one hundred years. I feel I have accumulated basic knowledge about war throughout my high
school years by taking world and U.S history courses. These courses were the easiest for me to
learn because I was real intrigued to know why something happened which led for another event
to happen. To begin my search process, I thought of material I already knew for my subject.
Then after coming to a conclusions on material I felt like learning more about, I began reading
material off ordinary websites on my laptop. Discovering that some websites were useless led
me to rethink my choices. While reconsidering what to do, I simply went to the C.O.S academic
data base and clicked on the links SIRS Issue Researcher and Global Issues in Context . These are
the primary tools I used for most of my research. At first it was difficult due to some of the articles
not containing the information I needed and were just boring.

The Expulsion of Freedom
According to Jean Jacques Rousseau, human beings are bestowed with the blessings of freedom
during their individual genesis on this fruitful planet, but this natural freedom is immensely
circumscribed as it s exchanged for the civil liberties of the State. He indicated that the supplanting
of natural freedom is necessary for the obtainment of greater power for the greater collective
community, but the prospect of obtaining superlative capabilities comes with the price of
constraints. Yet this notion of natural freedom conflicts with Thomas Hobbesrendition on the state
of nature because he illustrates that nature, interface through savagery. According to Hobbes,
mankind has endorsed and embraced natures temperament, because this system of... Show more

The illusion of a free society with unbiased laws created by the collective and ratified by the
legislator, enables the society to have a sense of morality and perform a ceremonial civic duty to
uphold the laws they finance with commitment. Rousseau states in the opening page that, Man is
born free, but everywhere he is in chains. One thinks himself the master of others, and still remains
a greater slave than they. These chains that Rousseau refer to are the constraints that are
strategically placed on the freedom of the residents of the state. Since laws consult the public
interest of the people collectively and suppress the private interest of the individual, they are
essentially chains on the minds and souls of mankind, because people are used as vessels by the
state to fulfill its agenda, under the guise and illusion of individual power to implement change in
the collective.
The author of Leviathan, Thomas Hobbes eloquently emphasizes that the state of nature is, in its
rawest essence, chaotic and savage. In Chapter thirteen of his work Leviathan, he depreciates man s
role in the state of nature by saying, the life of man, solitary, poore , nasty, brutish and short (pg.
186). From his perspective, due to the fact that humans dwell in this catatonic state of destitution,
humans naturally yearn for peace. Hobbes suggest that through the formulation of Leviathan
through a social contract, achieving peace is a more

Every Tuesday at 3:45 teens, ages 11 to 18, go to Albany County Public Library for a program
called YAK. YAK was first funded by a frozen yogurt company that wanted teens to have a place
they can be themselves without fear of being teased. The librarians decided to call the program
YAK in thanks of the funding that they had received. Once a month the teens get to plan out what
they want to do that month. Some of the things that get chosen are improv, creative writing, trivia,
game day, arts and crafts, scavenger hunts, murder mysteries and the occasional game of Quidditch
at the park. The librarians give teens ideas of things that they can do at YAK and outside of YAK.
The librarians have helped the teens put together a haunted house... Show more content on

happens out in the main part of the library, they will randomly put the teens in groups so that
they don t stick with the friends that they came with. This helps keep the teens from excluding
others, even if they don t know that that s what they were dong, and helps them make new
friends. The librarians make it very clear that bullying will not be tolerated at all under any
circumstances. They also make it clear that if you are being bullied, you can go to them and they
will talk to the person who was bullying you. If the person bullying you doesn t stop, the

Persuasive Strategies For Selling Your House
If you are reading this, probably you are one of the homeowners who is having a hard time in
selling a property in Brooklyn.
Everybody knows that there are a lot of inventories on the market right now. And you will have to
compete against foreclosures out there, which are heavily discounted.
If your property is located in Brooklyn NY, especially in Bed Stuy (Bedford Stuyvesant) or
Bushwick areas, whose Zip Codes are 11212, 11213,11216,11233, 11238, 11206, 11221 and
11237, you must have been definitely having a tough time, since foreclosure rates are much higher
than that of the rest of Brooklyn.
But still, even in this downturn market, you can sell your house fairly quickly.
First of all, there are basically 3 methods in which you can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Real estate agents are familiar with all the above and they can handle them for you. Their
experience can impact the sale.
In order to save $30,000 in commission, would you hire an attorney, a title company, and an
insurance company by yourself to make a deal happen? Are you really a good negotiator to ask for
an offer? If you are NOT that kind of person, things would be very tough for you.
2) Hiring a real estate agent (Realtor)
Pros for hiring a Realtor are already covered the above. Cons are that in this competitive market
for the sellers, agents may not able to help you sell fast. Most agents are taught only very
conventional ways of marketing homes. Putting your property on MLS (Multiple Listing Service)
and put up a For Sale sign in the yard, and maybe do some advertisement in newspapers. But that s
about it. And the next step is just wait and wait and wait... Because of the terrible economy, where
the demand for homes has subsided, you shouldn t be surprised if it takes 6 8 months to have your
home sold through an agent.
Therefore, you really have to hire an experienced real estate agent who has closed on at least 20
30 properties a year. You can get a real estate agent s license in 4 days. Having the license doesn t
mean he or she is an expert in selling a house. The truth is only 5 10 percent of the agents know
what they really doing. You should be careful in choosing who to

Analyzing The Distinctive Sorts Of Management Structures
Summary
This report clarifies the distinctive sorts of management structures that are being used, their
advantages and disadvantages, and gives illustrations of where to utilise each one. Furthermore, it
examines different variables that ought to be considered when surveying management structures in
quickly changing economic situations.
Introduction
At the point when another representative joins an organisation one of the first things they learn is
the organisation s management structure. This incorporates understanding the working associations
with their manager, subordinates and team. Management factors in every type of business from
large multinational corporations to small enterprises. A Company that has 150 staff will not need
the same management style to that of a small 6 member staff team.
Picking the right management structure guarantees an organisation proceeds with development,
happy employees and gainful returns for the shareholders. Picking an unsuitable structure makes
pressures in the middle of employees and supervisors, permits wasteful work practices to thrive and
decreases organisation profits. In the most pessimistic scenario an inaccurate management structure
can prompt organisation closure.
Sadly, numerous organisations place confidence in their association s management structure is
right, static and never calls for evolving. In any case, such suspicions are guileless and as the pace
of progress increments, there is a need to persistently evaluate the

The urinary tract naturally flushes away bacteria that are present in the urethra. However, an
abundance of bacteria present can overcome the flushing power of the urinary tract and begin to
grow. There are species of non pathogenic bacteria that inhabit the urinary tract and result in no
symptoms for the individual. A problem arises when pathogenic bacteria enter the urinary tract and
are not flushed away, this results in a urinary tract infection (UTI) (Foxman and Schaeffer, 2011).
Two urine samples were tested in lab, one from a patient known to have a urinary tract infection
and the other was of the researcher s urine. These samples were plated on a MacConkey s agar
plate (which only allows for the growth of Gram negative bacteria) and on TSA plates (which
allow the growth of both Gram positive and Gram negative bacterium). Colony counts for each
plate were recorded and the number of colony forming units per millilitre (CFU/mL) was
calculated by multiplying the number of colonies by the dilution factor. A value greater than or
equal to 105 CFU/mL is indicative of a urinary tract infection (d Entremont and Maynard, 2014).
The bacterial colonies isolated during the experiment were also exposed to the Cytochrome
Oxidase test. This test reveals whether or not the bacteria produce the enzyme Cytochrome
Oxidase, this enzyme is important in the electron transport chains of aerobic bacteria. The isolated
bacterial colonies were run on an API

The History of Mexican Americans Essay
In the Preface of Major Problems in Mexican American History Zaragosa Vargas writes, Nearly
two thirds of Latinos in the United States are of Mexican descent, or Chicanos a term of self
definition that emerged during the 1960 s and early 1970s civil rights movement. Chicanos reside
mainly in the Southwest, the Pacific Northwest, and the Midwest. Their history begins in the
precolonial Spanish era, and they share a rich mestizo cultural heritage of Spanish, Indian, and
African origins. The Chicanos past is underscored by conquest of the present day American
Southwest first by the Spanish and then by the United States following the Mexican American War
(xv). When one thinks of a Chicano one thinks of the Mayans and Aztecs, the conquests,... Show

that represents the mixture of race which makes up the Chicano identity, the Native, Spaniard, and
mestizo. This is a very visual history and one can pick some of the emotions and struggle through
the paintings but one needs to understand the written history in order to appreciate it better because
it makes it easier to identify especially with the major figures. Michelle Rosado makes an
interesting point about the murals in the Chicano web site, when she mentions that one may think
that this is the history of all Mexican Americans, but it is not. The effect of certain events that
occurred in Mexican American history on this community and California, such as the Chicano Civil
Rights Movement and the Chicano Moratorium march against the Vietnam war, is addressed. The
major outcome of these events emphasized by the web site is the influence it had on art in the
Mexican American culture. However, the history and other effects on all Mexican Americans
throughout the United states is not discussed . I agre with Michelle Rosado that similar to the web
site it [the documentary] does not talk about the very beggining of the Mexican American

Proposed Defunding Of Agricultural Classes On The Nation...
As of March of 2016, Gov. Bruce Rauner of Illinois has proposed defunding of agricultural
classes in his state. Think about this, the governor of a state where one in four jobs in Illinois are
directly related to agriculture wants to give a grand total of zero dollars to the Future Farmers of
America along with ag classes in general. This is the reason that schools not only should offer
agriculturerelated classes, but in order to graduate from high school every student should at least
take one class of ag. At the end of the day all people must know where the nation s food comes
from and how it gets from the pasture to the store. There are only two percent of the nation s
population that are farmers. Two percent of the people in America raise the crops and the meatfor
the whole country. This number needs to change in order to ensure that children and the nation s
children will be able to survive. Today s kids do not know where their food is from which means
they take farmers for granted. One personal story that can be recalled happened just recently. A
student pointed to a turkey and asked What is that? A giant rooster? The response was No, that is a
turkey, and they come from turkey houses. This is what brought up the thought of just how
important ag educationis. The ones in the field work very hard to improve the ways of life for the
animals and plants they grow so that the people of America can eat. A recent study showed that

  • 2. Meaning Of Sacrament The word sacrament comes from Latin word Sacramentum the Greek word mysterion is equivalent to Sacramentum and it is used by Paul in Ephesians when he is speaking about marriage. This is a great foreshadowing Mysterion; I mean that it refers to Christ and the church. In later usage, the term Sacramentum emphasizes the visible sign of the hidden reality of salvation which was indicated by the term Mysterium. In this case, Christ himself is the mystery of salvation For there is no other mystery of God, except Christ Jesus. The synonymous of the word Sacramentum in the Bible is Mysterion, Orthodox Church uses the word mystery to mean sacrament. The saving work of Jesus and sanctifying humanity is the sacrament of salvation, is revealed and active in the Church s sacraments and which Eastern Churches also call the holy mysteries. The seven sacraments are the signs and instruments by which the Holy Spirit spreads the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A sacrament properly speaking is that which is ordained to signify our sanctification. In which three things may be considered, the very cause of our sanctification, which is Christ s passion. The form of our sanctification, which are grace and the virtues, and the ultimate end of our sanctification, which is eternal life. And all these are signified by the sacraments. Consequently, a sacrament is a sign that is both a reminder of the past that is the passion of Christ and an indication of that which is effected in us by Christ s passion. That is grace and a prognostic that is a foretelling of future. St Augustine has a different way of explaining the sacraments, for him the sacraments are visible words and relationship with Christ and the Church when He identifies them as visible words to be received in faith. Sacraments are visible signs of invisible reality. Sacraments both reveal and veil their inner ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Conscience In I Hunt Killers, By Barry Lyga One or more traumatic events can weaken one s conscience. Conscience is a feeling or voice in one s mind that acts as a guide to the rightness or wrongness of one s actions. Having a conscience allows you to be able to bring yourself back to reality, to face the truth and take responsibility over your actions. Traumatic experiences can weaken your conscience so it will no longer be able to keep you in reality. Serial killers, or the criminally insane lack conscience and that s why they are able to harm one or a bunch of people, without realizing how it affects others. I am interested in the minds of serial killers who are cold hearted and have no remorse for what they have done. I believe that there is specific reason deep down hidden behind their heartless persona that has caused them to act a violent way. I take interest in the minds of the criminally insane because they tend to lose the ability to function mentally due to a traumatic experience or experiences.... I will start by exploring the build up to the legislations that underpins the Youth Justice System which is the Crime and Disorder Act 1998. When assessing a young person s needs, I use The Scaled Approach framework Asset, created by the YJB. Asset is a structured assessment; it provides a concise perception into the welfare of young person, identifying needs and risk to the public and the probability of re offending. With this information I am able to identify and address specific risk factors, creating effective intervention programmes, building on protective factors. This contributes to the youth justice systems objective to prevent the likelihood of re offending. In order to create and deliver structured interventions tailored to individual needs, I provide young people with a What Do You Think form (questions directed at their personal life) to gain an indication of their views. I use a VARK (Visual/Aural/Read/Write/Kinaesthetic) questionnaire which helps me identify their learning styles. For interventions to be effective and to reduce the likelihood re offending, I build on protective factors such as interest s, hobbies and establishing future goals to help young people focus on positive areas of their life. Panel meetings allow me to incorporate the main aims of the Youth Justice System. Prior to the meetings, I liaise with Victim Support to ascertain whether the victim or a representative would like to participate in the process of restorative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Sexual Assault At The West Chester University Of Pennsylvania One in five women are sexually assaulted while in college (Not Alone, 2014). In our class of twenty women that means that possibly five women have been sexually assaulted. Out of the five women that I stated could have been sexually assaulted they may have known the perpetrator and often will not report what has happened. According to the spring count of students completed by West Chester University, 9,211 of those students were females ( Headcount Enrollment , 2014). If I go by the statistic mentioned earlier that one in five women is assaulted that would mean that 1,842 women have been sexually assaulted while enrolled at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. Out of 1,842 possible assaults only four were reported last year. Two of which the victims knew prior to the assault. Rankin and Associates consulting conducted a Climate Assessment on West Chester University in September of 2010, a section of the results focused on sexual assault on students. According to the report seven people who reported a sexual assault to the university described their reactions to the universities response. Two students shared the way they felt the response was inappropriate or poor. One described that they felt the suspension for one semester was not an appropriate response to an admitted rape, that public safety lost the victims statement, judicial affairs painted the victim offender as innocent, and that the registrar protected the offender putting the victim in harm s way and everyone ... • 8. Literary Realism Of The Iron Mills And The Yellow... Literary realism s goal is to invoke compassion within its readers. By learning and experiencing something of the characters lives in the story, one of the hopes for realism is that by invoking sympathy within the reader, social injustice may be dealt with. Two examples that use form to reach the end goal of compassion are Rebecca Harding Davis Life in the Iron Mills and The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Rebecca Harding Davis Life in the Iron Mills uses an embedded narrative to tell the story of Deb and Hugh, and the daily struggles of Deb s life. Life in the Iron Mills was written in 1861, two years prior to the Emancipation Proclamation. The goal of this story is to feel compassion for those in the lower class and to attempt to change the structure of the American class hierarchy. An unnamed middle class narrator begins the story by describing the town in which the story takes place. It is described as a town filled with smoke; The idiosyncrasy of this town is smoke. It rolls sullenly in slow folds from the great chimneys of the iron foundries, and settles down in black, slimy pools on the muddy streets. Smoke on the wharves, smoke on the dingy boats, on the yellow river clinging in a coating of greasy soot to the house front, the two faded poplars, the faces of passers by (3). These two young geniuses were extremely interested in technology and electronics, and they used this passion to find employment. Jobs worked for Atari, and Wozniak worked for Hewlett Packard. In April of 1976, in a garage with just $1,300, the two Stevens came together to form a dynamic duo. • 11. The Lecture On Domestic Violence Essay The Lecture taken by Shine explored the changes and influences of the Domestic Protection Act, 1982 and the Domestic Violence Act, 1996. The presentation put emphasis on the law and systems in dealing with domestic violence. Included also in the lecture, was the analysis of protection orders and police interference. Protection orders are in practice for the urgent safety of the victims of domestic violence. They are applied for through the family court with evidence of domestic violence or potential danger (Morden, 2016). The lecture also demonstrated that the law does not tolerate even single acts of abuse and takes procedures very seriously. The various acts are in place and are continually improving to protect New Zealanders that may be in danger of abuse. The first reading, Gender bias, fathers rights, domestic violence and the Family court , argues that laws regarding domestic violence are bias towards men. This accusation is supported by the accessibility that women have to use or misuse protection orders. The law gives women the opportunity to give themselves immediate custody over their children and property (Davis Powell, 2004). The gender bias against men is also given credibility by the large proportion of fathers denied access to their children at all. However, this legislation has proved to be positive as the majority of cases prove that danger is most prominent when the partner leaves the abuser. The question of whether the law is beneficial for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Skype In End Of Life Care The authors did so many things right when writing this article. It was a good length, considering the topic it covered was so specific. They provided an adequate amount of background statistics and information on social media and how it is used today, to get a better understanding of the role of technology overall in our lives today. I also liked that they admitted the limitations of their article; for example the reader only gets the case studies from one perspective when the others are also important to know. They also did a great job of choosing cases that show the reader how Skype can and did make a huge difference for these families and their dying loved ones. There were also a few downsides in the article. I didn t feel the authors... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the beginning I wish the article went into more detail about the evolution of the music therapy profession and how their use of music can create greater results in their patients than other care providers using music. It also could have been better organized to go from discussing music interventions in the broad clinical setting to focusing in on the end of life care setting instead of jumping back and forth between them. I feel that the article was comprised largely of information for the general clinical setting instead of the palliative and hospice setting, which was supposed to be the article topic since the article s title is Music as a Therapeutic Resource in End of Life Care . Overall, I enjoyed reading this article for a multitude of reasons. Their choice of vocabulary made it easily understandable, the topic was very interesting to me, and the fact that I can use the information I learned in my future career as a nurse is a great benefit. After reading this article I have a greater respect and understanding of music therapy and the effects it can have on patients and their families. • 13. Jeep Research Paper Personal Question Why do I keep my Jeep when it keeps breaking down on me? That is the question that I have asked myself multiple times over the summer. To this day, I have put more time, effort and money into my Jeep than it is actually worth. So why continue to restore this beautifully ancient beast? Well, the answer is actually very simple; I love working on it. When I was first told that I was getting an automobile, I expected to go out and hand pick one that I deemed suitable for my everyday tasks. To my surprise, my father pretty much narrowed the selection process down for me, providing me with a specific list of Craigslist adds that he had compiled during his work day. As the CFO of Enron, Fastow should have known better than to do what he did with the creation and operation of the SPEs. His brass was at such a high level that he even named several of them after his children. He, like Kenneth Lay, refused to take any accountability by refusing to testify before Congress in 2002. SEC and FASB The SEC and FASB also share the responsibility for the fraud scandal that took place. The organisms should have passed stronger accounting standards to regulate auditing. Both organizations were in favor of the 3% rule for SPEs. This rule stated that a SPE needed only a 3% investment from an outside investor to be considered independent. This rule allowed Enron to discharge all its unprofitable businesses in SPEs to avoid consolidating losses. Since the reformation, when Martin Luther (1483 1546) called the sacramental system of the medieval Roman church as the Babylonian Captivity of the Church , protestants had the tendency to distrust tradition . But the process of the Protestantismwas changing the meaning of faith from faith expectancy to faith doctrine. People even once attempted to verify one s position as a Christian by accepting correct creeds . From its theology, the central of the movement was an intense experience of being filled with the Spirit or of awakening to a new life through the transforming power of the Spirit. From its practice, the charismatics had given a full expression to the importance of experience. Especially their personal and deep worship, the worshippers were given freedom to express a wide range of human sensibilities: singing, clapping, concert prayer, the praise choruses, and kinesthetic movements together provided avenues of expression. Only a child sees things with perfect clarity because it has not developed all those filters which prevent us from seeing things that we do not expect to see. To Kill a Mockingbird was written by Harper Lee and it examines the life of the residents of the fictional town of Maycomb through the eyes of a child. Incredibly paramount events in history largely shape the beliefs of the Maycombians. The story is set in the southern state of Alabama roughly seventy years after the end of the Civil War. There s the ordinary kind like us and the neighbors, there s the kind like the Cunninghams out in the woods, the kind like the Ewells down at the dump, and the Negroes. The Maycombians consistently abide by the status quo, and many of the citizens treat people of lower classes differently and often terribly. In the book, the community treated the Finches and their neighbors with extremely high regard. Even though Atticus gained a bad reputation because he defended a black man, the town s residents treated him better than those who were thought to be of subordinate classes. The Finches relation to the town founder, Simon Finch, also highly influenced the way others treated them. Atticus was a lawyer, and this was considered to be one of very few professional job positions held in the town. Female Relationships in Virginia Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway Clarissa Dalloway, the central character in Virginia Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway, is a complex figure whose relations with other women reveal as much about her personality as do her own musings. By focusing at length on several characters, all of whom are in some way connected to Clarissa, Woolf expertly portrays the ways females interact: sometimes drawing upon one another for things which they cannot get from men; other times, turning on each other out of jealousy and insecurity. Clarissa interacts with women in both of these ways. Her relationship with Sally Seton, for example, is quite positive. Once upon a time, in their youth, Clarissa admired the ... (35)To say that the kiss is the most exquisite moment of her life shows that Clarissa feels utterly at ease being physically intimate with a woman. One might argue that this moment is so great that everything that follows pales, leaving Clarissa s sexual life as a married woman dull and uninteresting. For, although Clarissa is not necessarily a lesbian, Woolf makes it clear that her marriage to Richard is one of convenience, resulting from her need to conform to rigid social regulations. Whether she could find true happiness with any man is debatable, but a possible answer lies in the fact that she rejects Peter Walsh. Judging by the description of their courtship and time together, Peter is a lot closer to Clarissa emotionally than Richard is. Therefore, it seems that had she desired a relationship with a man, she would have chosen Peter. Since her true physical attraction is for women, however, she decides to marry for social reasons and weds Richard. Researchers as well as locals have noticed the decrease in the Antarctic toothfish because fishermen were not catching nearly as many toothfish as they were before 2002. This observation was puzzling because the use of a new tool for monitoring the amount of Antarctic toothfish in 2014 showed that the prevalence of the Antarctic toothfish was similar to that before 2002. This record was not explained thoroughly in this article. It would be more useful if the data was given for each year in question after 2001. This would be used to compare if there was a general decrease in Antarctic toothfish from year to year. Due to there being a decrease in Antarctic toothfish, an immediate accusation was made towards the Ross Sea toothfish fishery for the fault of this decrease. This accusation is not supported because the authors disclosed that the fishery had not reported any increase in the amount of Antarctic toothfish caught by their fishery during that time. Another experimental flaw was the use of a new program for monitoring the Antarctic toothfish. This large of a discrepancy between observation and experimental results could be due to an error resulting from using new equipment. Widespread belief that women were intellectually inferior to men led most societies to limit women s education to learning domestic skills. Well educated, upper class men controlled most positions of employment and power in society. Traditionally, female family members existed only in terms of their relationships to men. As daughters, subject to the control and whim of fathers, women represented a means of economic or political gain through marital arrangements. As wives, they became their husbands property, and symbols of power and status. Violence against women served to coerce their acquiescence in this scheme and perpetuate subservience to male relatives. Legally permitted abuse of women continued to exist in many Western cultures until the late nineteenth century. Early Roman societies deemed a wife the property of her husband and therefore subject to his control. According to early Roman law, a man could beat, divorce, or murder his wife for offenses committed by her which belittled his honour or threatened his property rights. Roman society considered enforcement of such rights of control essentially a private matter, and thus failed to subject the husband to either public scrutiny or disapproval. In other opinions one may refute that Hawthorne s purpose of hiding Mr. Hooper under the veil is just his way of dealing with what he is going through. Hooper does not search for deliverance from his sorrows; instead he resolves to live his life as best he can while dealing with them, a stance that leaves no room for unpredictable deliverance from God (Buchanan 6). The doctrine provides title to the nation making the discovery of the land even if the soil is inhabited by natives. Provided the land excluded European sovereign . When European powers establish rule in what is now the United States the government was given the ownership of the lands until they felt the need use of the land. The Indians currently residing in the lands were just inhabitants. The doctrine set for by Chief Justice Marshall was set forth to mimic colonial powers and prevent further European expansion on U.S. soils. Following the Johnson v McIntosh case, it established a preventive measure of Indians and Indian tribes from selling the land to anyone but the United States government. This was to prevent European colonies to develop in the United States. The doctrine was important for the development and expansion of colonial powers, but the implementation was a negative effect by forcefully taking lands from the indigenous. It disowned the culture and lifestyles of millions. Rationally it is a shame that the government chose to deny aboriginal title owners as they should have been allowed to keep their land. • 36. Integrated Healthcare Marketing Strategies Integrated Healthcare Marketing Strategies Introduction The creation and execution of promotional and communications strategies are by definition today multichannel and multimedia in scope. Combining both online and offline forms of media, the best practices in integrated marketing communications includes digital media that is inherently more measurable than offline counterparts, with offline media that is more agile from a messaging standpoint (Finne, Strandvik, 2012). The accuracy and precision of measurement that online marketing channels and platforms provide, in addition to the more immediate response generated from programs, is leading to digital media being the majority of integrated marketing communications spending globally (Reinold, Tropp, 2012). This has significant implications on the ethicacy of advertising for healthcare products, as customers demand more authenticity and transparency through these online channels (Bernoff, Li, 2008). The pervasive use of social media is re ordering the balance of power between customer and marketer roles in the marketplace (Finne, Strandvik, 2012). These are all factors healthcare marketers need to keep in mind when designing their strategic marketing plans. Bringing Ethicacy Into Integrated Marketing Plans For any health related product, the integrated marketing communications strategy needs to first concentrate on the entire customer experience and be cognizant of their needs while striving for complete authenticity ... The Convergence Of Methods Of Storing Files Americans today have seen the progression from old media to new media; majority, experiencing for themselves the transition from pagers to cell phones, cassettes to iPods, or paper maps to GPS devices. According to Henry Jenkins, who studies media convergence, this Convergence [where old and new media collide] represents a cultural shift as consumers are encouraged to seek out new information and make connections among dispersed media content (Jenkins 457). It is through the help of convergence that old media has developed into the new media Americans see today. The convergence of methods of storing files is an example of this. Dropbox is a cloud storage service; a business that overlooks a users data and makes that data accessible online. Because Dropbox has introduced people to the idea of accessing wireless data, this reveals how this type of new media has changed the way that content is produced, distributed, and consumed. Although the use of either a USB Flash Drive (old media) or Dropbox (new media) maintains the same objective, that is, to provide people with alternate methods of storing data, Dropbox is becoming a standard way of accessing data with the use of the internet as a platform. This in turn, benefits Dropbox users somewhat. One benefit of transitioning from a USB Flash Drive to Dropbox is that Dropbox allows easy access to documents. Dropping files into Dropbox essentially stores these files on the online cloud, where users can access their files anywhere and at any time as long as users have access to internet connection. There are three methods in which Dropbox users can easily access their documents. The first is through the Dropbox website. A Brief Note On Mediates Contact Dependent Homophilic Dscam: Mediates contact dependent homophilic repulsion Dscam diversity underlies a robust cellular recognition mechanism allowing dendrites to distinguish between surfaces of different cells. Main arguments is that Dscam mediated self avoidance is a general organizing mechanism operating throughout Drosophila nervous system. da neurons associate closely with the epidermis as they extend across the body wall; thus, their dendrites create a two dimensional meshwork in which developing branches frequently encounter other dendrites (different from CNS where axons and dendrites form 3D by interaction) when deficient in Dscam function, individual dendrites do not recognize sister branches and fail to initiate repulsion, leading to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dscam is required for proper segregation of sister axon branches (Wang et al., 2002), and analogous to the self avoidance control in da neurons, specific isoforms do not appear to provide instructive cues for this segregation event. It has been argued that this reflects a role for Dscam in mediating self recognition and repulsion between these axons In da neurons, dendrite selfavoidance defects were separable from growth, branching, and targeting errors and were fully penetrant. Thus, our data directly implicate Dscam in self avoidance and demonstrate this role at the level of interactions between individual branches. Mechanism: identical Dscam ectodomains on the surfaces of isoneuronal dendrites recognize each other and induce a subsequent repulsive signal that is mediated by domains in the cytoplasmic tail. How: o First, identical Dscam isoforms expressed in two cell populations in vitro induced their aggregation in an isoform specific manner, showing that Dscam provides cells with the ability to distinguish between different cell surfaces. o Second, ectopic (in an abnormal place or position) expression of identical Dscam isoforms on the dendrites of different cells, which normally overlap, promoted growth away from each other. From in vitro adhesion to in vivo repulsion Our data suggest that the dendrites of da neurons convert an initial Dscam dependent cell surface interaction into a repulsive response, which leads to dendrite separation and receptive ... It could be two moms raising the child. It could be an entire group of people collectively helping to raise that child. The beauty in it is that the role of the parent and child are endless. Robots Vs Robots With space travel being a topic much looked at since the middle of the 20th century, it is only inevitable that man has already entered space and taken that step into space travel. However, even though man has done so before, it does not necessarily man should continue to do what can be done by the technological advantages of this age; robots. Having the ability to send exclusively robotic missions into space provides many advantages that a human accompanied mission could not also have claim to, one obvious variation being in the safety of a robotic mission versus a manned mission. Humans are fragile when it comes to being put into environments other than their own (Colwell Britt, n.d.) and there are a lot of physical health setbacks. When in zero g in space, human bodies face many changes such as a sudden height increase, and even face a weakening of the bones that can later lead to bones breaking much easier from even small accidents ( Manned or Unmanned? , 2001). Humans also face the risk of being exposed to radiation when there is no atmosphere surrounding them to protect them ( Manned or Unmanned? , 2001) and the temperatures of different planets and elements of space make it nearly impossible for a human to be able to travel to certain places (Colwell Britt, n.d). Robots, however, do not face this kind of setback and are much more tolerant to the environment outside of earth s atmosphere. Fast And Slow By Daniel Kahneman In selected chapters of Thinking, Fast and Slow, Daniel Kahneman challenges the traditional economic utility model by presenting the prospect theory, where pecuniary variables are no longer the only determinants. George A. Akerlof and Richel E. Kranton support this challenge by providing two economic analysis models that include identity as an important variable. While Kahneman focuses primarily on individuals inability to make decisions based on profit determined utility values, Akerlof and Kranton emphasize that motivation associated with identity is the missing component of the traditional utility model. In order to demonstrate flaws of the traditional view, Kahneman supports three principles of prospect theory with various examples. First, by pointing out errors in Bernoulli s model and the indifferent model, Kahneman emphasizes the broad range of the reference point, that it is not only the change of wealth, but also the context and the mindset. Second, Kahneman analyzes loss aversion, one of the dominant mindsets. Third, Kahneman argue that sensitivity has great impact on decision making by providing gambling cases of rare and risky events. With the knowledge of these three principles, Kahneman further implies that people can be trained to against these intuitive system one thinking patterns. Based on research there are three main principles for effectively teaching EL students: (1) generally, effective practices are likely to be effective with ELs. (2) ELs require additional instructional supports. (3) The home language can be used to promote academic development (Goldenberg, 2013, p. 5). In this paper, I am going to highlight a few writing best practices that are research based to use within a classroom setting that are particular successful for EL students. Environment The first practice I am going to discuss is creating a classroom community of writers. Writing is often ignored, and when it is brought up in the classroom the students view it as a daunting task. Therefore, it is up to the teacher to change this environment into a positive experience. The topic war, in particular, is the most fascinating thing that occurs throughout history to me because of the fact that it has been used as a way to dispute conflicts between countries and the time frame of the vast advancements that have been made in weaponry in the past one hundred years. I feel I have accumulated basic knowledge about war throughout my high school years by taking world and U.S history courses. These courses were the easiest for me to learn because I was real intrigued to know why something happened which led for another event to happen. To begin my search process, I thought of material I already knew for my subject. Then after coming to a conclusions on material I felt like learning more about, I began reading material off ordinary websites on my laptop. Discovering that some websites were useless led me to rethink my choices. While reconsidering what to do, I simply went to the C.O.S academic data base and clicked on the links SIRS Issue Researcher and Global Issues in Context . Rousseau states in the opening page that, Man is born free, but everywhere he is in chains. One thinks himself the master of others, and still remains a greater slave than they. These chains that Rousseau refer to are the constraints that are strategically placed on the freedom of the residents of the state. Since laws consult the public interest of the people collectively and suppress the private interest of the individual, they are essentially chains on the minds and souls of mankind, because people are used as vessels by the state to fulfill its agenda, under the guise and illusion of individual power to implement change in the collective. The author of Leviathan, Thomas Hobbes eloquently emphasizes that the state of nature is, in its rawest essence, chaotic and savage. In Chapter thirteen of his work Leviathan, he depreciates man s role in the state of nature by saying, the life of man, solitary, poore , nasty, brutish and short (pg. 186).
