Kazuo Ishiguro s The Buried Giant
Kazuo Ishiguro s The Buried Giant follows the journey of a pair of elderly Britons as they travel
through a land overtaken by collective forgetfulness. Soon after venturing out Axl and Beatrice
discover the cause of their amnesia: the breath of the she dragon Querig, and without hesitations swear
to slay the creature. However, while the restoration of Axl and Beatrice s lost memories would
positively affect our main characters, turmoil would undoubtedly break out on a more large scale
scope. Individual identity should not outweigh massacre and chaos. Querig should not be slain in
order to preserve peace between the Britons and Saxons.
Querig s death will result in a reversion of cultural tension between the Britons and Saxons, thus
degrading ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If several decades were enough to heal a tense marital relationship wrought by infidelity, distrust, and
grief, perhaps several centuries would be enough to heal the wounds previously mentioned. Gawain
mentions, the bones lie sheltered beneath a pleasant green carpet. The children know nothing of them
(Ishiguro, 286). Perhaps by keeping those bones concealed for several more years the children of the
conflict, now grown into adults, would be compelled to forgive or perhaps would pass away. If the
mist outlasted the previously mentioned age group the last memories of the Briton Saxon conflict
would die out, thus leaving only room for peace. By remaining alive, even if for only several more
years, Querig s breath could further improve the once tense relations between the Britons and

The Casey Anthony Case Essay
The Casey Anthony case was one that captured the heart of thousands and made it to the headline of
national TV talk shows, newspapers, radio stations and social media networks for months. The root of
the case was due to a clash between the parental responsibilities, the expectations that went with being
a parent, and the life that Casey Anthony wanted to have. The case was in respect to the discovering
the cause of Casey s two year old daughter, Caylee Marie Anthony s, death; however the emphasis
was placed on Casey and her futile lies, which resulted in a public outcry. The purpose of this essay is
to delve into the public atmosphere and inquire about why the media and social media collectively
attacked the case by uncovering the content ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Casey told detectives several lies, including that her nanny had kidnapped Caylee on June 9, and that
she had been trying to find her, too frightened to alert the authorities. She was charged with first
degree murder in October 2008 and pleaded not guilty. The prosecution sought the death penalty and
alleged Casey murdered her daughter to be free from parental responsibilities by administering
chloroform and applying duct tape. The defense team countered that the child had drowned
accidentally in the family s swimming pool on June 16, 2008, and that George Anthony disposed of
the body. The defense contended that Casey lied about these issues due to a dysfunctional upbringing,
which was said to include sexual abuse by her father. On June 5, 2011, the jury found Casey not guilty
of first degree murder, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated manslaughter of a child, but guilty of
four misdemeanor counts of providing false information to a law enforcement officer. She was
released on a bond of $500,000 and a Florida court overturned two of the misdemeanor convictions on
January 25, 2013. The performers of the trial played a crucial role in the trial, the verdict and the
informal perceptions of Casey Anthony. The prosecutor and defense both played contrasting roles in
shaping their client/opponent legally and informally, in the media. The

LA County Museum of Art Essay example
LA County Museum of Art (LACMA) The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, or LACMA as it is
commonly known, is among the world s largest art collections in North America, and to be specific
enough the most prevalent artwork in the western United States (Compton 165). This massive art
museum has a collection of over 100,000 artworks, which extends from the ancient times to present
days (Gilbert and Mills 174). These collections, which are mainly from Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin
America and America itself, are grouped into several departments within the museums buildings,
depending on the region, culture, media, and time period. This paper analyzes the different genres of

These pieces of work include carved wood and stone, manuscripts on stone tablets and reeds,
illumination, calligraphy, enameled glass, inlaid metal work and glazed ceramics, preferably from the
Turkish and Iranian regions. A common characteristic among Islamic artworks is their brilliant use of
colors and the perfect balance between the design and form that they portray. These unique features
make these pieces of art create an immediate visual impact to the observers. The Types of Artworks A
common Islamic art masterpiece is the use of tiles, more so the Iranian Star shaped tile (Necipoglu
174). This is a 15th century artwork, probably made during the time when the Timurids ruled over Iran
(Doak 136). This star like tile; as illustrated in Figure I below, has a decoration of geometric shapes
leaves and flowers on it, with a major flower being positioned right at the center of the tile. These tiles
were made to cover outer walls of buildings, with designs and colorful patterns, to make such
structures more beautiful. The tiles were fitted together using mortar on the walls of structures to
create a mosaic design that adorned the outer walls of the structures. Another common Islamic artwork
was calligraphy, which is illustrated in Figure II. It was described as the most important of all
elements in Islamic art. This art was considered dignified, due to its association with the Muslims
Holy Book Koran, temple and palace inscriptions, and its use in

Essay On Ancient Mesopotamian Religion
What similarities can you find between the religions of Ancient Mesopotamian today?
Much like tens of thousands of years ago, religion is still a central component of our lives today. Some
of the most popular religions today are Christianity and Judaism, both based on the Old
Testament/Hebrew Bible and both based in the Near East. Because of cultural assimilation within the
region, it would only be logical for the religions of today to share some similarities of those
established in Ancient Mesopotamia.
One of the most famous lines of the Bible takes place in Genesis 1:1, which states In the beginning
God created the heavens and earth. This line is much like a similar creation myth from the Sumerians
where Marduk creates the heavens and earth by using the body of the slain goddess Tiamut who
personified watery chaos, proceeded to create the universe by dividing Tiamat in two, one part
becoming the heavens and the other the earth with her breasts as mountains. From her eyes came the

In those days the world teemed, the people multiplied, the world bellowed like a wild bull.... In the
Old Testament, humanity has also grown, thus the beginning of the flood myth. Similarly, in both
myths a wise man is told of a catastrophic flood that is to take place by the hand of the gods (or God)
and he must quickly prepare. [B]ecause of his oath warned me in a dream ... tear down your house and
build a boat, abandon possessions [sic] and look for life, despise worldly goods and save your soul
alive. Tear down your house, I say, and build a boat.... Then take up into the boat the seed of all living
creatures.... The purpose of the floods is to destroy humanity. In the case of the Epic of Gilgamesh, it
is to deal with rowdy humans. In the case of the Old Testament, it is to destroy the humans who have
grown wicked and turned their backs to God and return the earth to its beginning as a watery

Access To Justice
With the demise of the apartheid in 1994 and the implementation of the Constitution in 1996, it
brought with it the concept of access to justice for all citizens of South Africa. The notion itself has
developed and evolved beyond the preconceived idea of access to courts but encompasses one s access
to legal and state services, social, economic and environmental justice as well.
Although Section 34 of the Constitution provides that anyone with a dispute may seek justice by
bringing the dispute to court with Section 35, from which Legal Aid South Africa derived its mandate,
enforcing that those arrested, detained or accused has the right to a fair trial which includes the right to
have a legal practitioner assigned by the State and at the expense of the State, justice is tied directly to
political and economic position, power and wealth. Thus, for many South African people, poor and or
working class, access to justice is an occasional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this sense, emphasis was placed on the rehabilitation of first time offenders by making use of the
NICRO program.
Moreover, the notion of access to justice went as far as access to education for those unaware of their
legal rights and duties. When the question of the quality of Legal Aid attorneys was raised, the Justice
commented that private attorneys are often unprepared as they do not consult their clients. Or they
make use of stall tactics to increase their service fees.
Another issue raised was the ignorance of one s rights being as a contributor to the lack of access to
justice for many people. It is understood that people do not seek redress on account of being unaware
of their rights provided in the Bill of Rights. Conversely, multiple offenders who are more acquainted
with the law, find loopholes when committing their

General Electric Leadership Essay
ASSIGNMENT ON LEADERSHIP
Lecturer: Dr. Brian O Reilly
Title: Compare and Contrast Two Leaders
Executive Summary
This paper would take leadership into account by comparing and contrasting two well known leaders
in General Electric (GE). The paper first introduces two leaders with some brief biographies,
characteristics and their contribution to the GE. It then looks at who would be the more effective
leader by providing with some aspects of leadership. It then comes up with some skills these people
employed in their leadership to help GE growth rapidly during 1990s till now. The next part will put a
conclusion and some recommendations about leadership for potential leaders in the future.

Welch was a very good hunter for opportunities and also a good manager of risks and threats while
Immelt improved what Welch had. As a successful story in business management, application of Six
Sigma program in GE was spread over the world as one of the most valuable lessons among
businesses in the world relating to quality control. (see Appendix B, Story 1)
Above all, Welch was a ruthless taskmaster at GE. Immelt works with long term perspective rather
with a short term one. Immelt proved that he is a very effective leader by helping GE overcome the
hardship in 2001 when terrorist attacks on September 11 were a harbinger of bad times to come for
GE. (see Appendix B, Story 2)
It s really difficult to say this leader is better than another one. To compare and contrast them, in the
range of this paper, in terms of leadership, we would just use leadership styles, traits of emotional
intelligence that helped them become top leaders in the world.
2.1. Leadership styles
In the reign of Jack Welch during his 20 year at GE, a new leadership style was introduced and spread
companywide. Welch developed a ranking system that put employees in one of the three categories.
The top 20 percent were stars , the middle 70 percent were the crucial majority and the bottom 10
percent were weeded out. Through his policy of differentiation, Welch was able to separate those who

Frankenstein And The Picture Of Dorian Gray As British...

Frankenstein and The Picture of Dorian Gray as British Gothic Literature There is something at work
in my soul, which I do not understand. This quote from Mary Shelley s classic gothic novel
Frankenstein is very representative of the functional importance of gothic literature to humanity.
Gothic literature can be viewed as the dark side of the human soul, as good usually triumphs over evil
in storytelling; gothic literature is the release of all the darkness of the human experience usually
embodied in a character. When used to describe literature, the word gothic is defined as of or relating
to a style of fiction characterized by the use of desolate or remote settings and macabre, mysterious, or
violent incidents (Webster). In addition to these stylings, there are several elements such as the
supernatural, heroes, villains, and emotions that are very common of the gothic genre (Marinaro).
Frankenstein is often viewed as the archetype of gothic literature, for the novel is certainly the most
well known and studied literary work of the gothic genre, and also possibly because of its usage of
classic gothic themes. Oscar Wilde s The Picture of Dorian Gray, however described as gothic
literature, departs from many of the listed classic themes. The following will examine the origins of
the gothic novel, it s characteristics, and how the British novels Frankenstein and The Picture of
Dorian Gray exemplify, by usage

Character Analysis Of Sue Monk Kidd
Sue Monk Kidd does a great job of writing an interesting and engaging novel jam packed with an
amazing setting and lovable characters. Each character providing their own very interesting and
dynamic character arc throughout the story. Characters like Lily Owens, Zachary Taylor and June
Boatwright, experience lots of progression in both as a character or in their personality and in the
audience s feelings towards them. Characters like Rosaleen and May Boatwright that make you
sympathize for the situation that they are in or the struggles that they face. Each time May experiences
emotional distress, you can t help but feel bad for her and hope that she gets better. Whenever
Rosaleen is discriminated by police officers, you can t help but feel anger and frustration for the
wrongs of the past. With such a stellar cast of characters to choose from I would say that August
Boatwright is the character that Sue Monk Kidd makes me admire. The way Sue Monk Kidd portrays
the wise and caring character that is August is just very compelling to me. August s importance to the
plot of the novel and to the characters of the novel is very clear. August Boatwright is the moral glue
to almost every main character in the Boatwright house before and after Lily Owens and Rosaleen
arrive. Without August Boatwright, there s no one to give May the attention and care that she needs.
No other character except for maybe Lily shows any sort of patience and compassion for May like
August does.

Piet Mondrian s Influence On Society
Piet Mondrian was born March 7, 1872, in Amsterfoot, Netherlands. His father, Headmaster of the
town s Dutch Reformed elementary school, was a devout Calvinist. Malevich s childhood was strict
and based on the reformed Amsterfoot. In 1880, his family moved to Winterswijk, near the German
border.
In 1892, Mondrian registered at the National Academy of Art in Amsterdam. There he trained as a
realist, concentrating on visual observation and with a strict devotion to detail. Immediately, post
university, he moved around the countryside of Amsterdam to paint landscapes. In 1911 Mondrian saw
the Cubist works of Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso. He subsequently moved to Paris and begins
working in a manner that is inspired by the Cubists. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this time he returned to working on landscapes based on the countryside. This time, he applied
his new style of straight lines and curves, with minimal color. Eventually, he moved on to clean lines
and colors without any transition, independent from content. Once the war ended, Mondrian
immediately returned to Paris.
The painting, Composition: Checkerboard, Dark Colors, made in 1919, is made up of a rectangular
canvas divided up by a grid of uniform rectangles. These shapes have been filled in with three colors,
a red, a purple, and a blue. These colors do not seem to be the traditional, colors straight out of the
tube. For example, the red is slightly orange and the purple leans more red than blue. The colors are
also placed in a seemingly random manner and each color is equally present.
Mondrian placed these colors only according to his own intuition. It is clear that he made some
alterations in color and changes are detectable in the rectangles that are filled with somewhat mixed or
tinted variations of these colors. The equal amounts of color make it so there are no places to focus.
Instead the repeating randomness creates a sense of static and movement within the painting.
Unlike Still Life with Gingerpot II, the prewar example, Composition: Checkerboard, Dark Colors is
not based on anything from the physical world. Instead of representing something, Mondrian
conceived an entirely original composition. He merely filled in this

Graffiti Is Art Not Vandalism
Graffiti Is Art Not Vandalism Graffiti can be found everywhere and anywhere. It is a way for people to
express themselves and be creative in a public manner. It shows how passionate and talented they can
be when it comes to drawing or tagging and have it displayed as a piece of art for everyone to see.
Graffiti goes way back to the ancient times and is now very well known in the modern days which
makes more and more people interested and fascinated by them. It can be used in different types of
ways. Many artists can either spray paint, carve, paste, or stencil them on a surface. From how we see
them today they are usually images of random cartoons, big bubbly letters, vintage black and whites
or inspirational quotes. Virtually anything colorful or not and big that can be easily spotted. Graffiti is
more superior to be known as art than vandalism because it is a self expressing act. People need to be
open minded about the images they see and look at the message behind it or else they will
immediately criticize and say it is vandalizing property. It is a form of art not a crime. Going out of
their way to trespass and damage property like fences, road barriers, or warning signs is considered a
crime. Art wise, it attracts large crowds and shocks a few. It is a way to build a creative imagination
and to be spontaneous. It really depends on how people look and feel about it. But there are
artists that make street art which means that they are

A Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Man By James Joyce
From the very beginning of the novel, A Portrait of the Artist as a young man by James Joyce we meet
Stephen Dedalus. From there, we perceive the world exactly as Stephen perceives it. Through sounds,
smells, and sensations we learn everything that Stephen is learning and many times in incredibly
specific detail. Stephen s overly sensitive reactions and consistent use of imagery is proof to us that
Stephen is different and views the world from an artist s perspective. This uses of imagery and motifs
by James Joyce is used to describe how Stephen is able to interpret the world around him.
Furthermore, Joyce reveals this through the name of the main character. Joyce s ability to make stories
realistic was one of the reasons that he was such a tremendous success as a writer. Specifically, his use
of imagery to establish motifs and symbols to provide a consciousness flow throughout his work that
almost transports you into Stephens memories. If we can understand this imagery, then we can better
understand Stephen s life and the time and place he lived in. Stephen or Steven is a masculine first
name, derived from the Greek name Stephanos , in turn from the Greek word, meaning wreath, crown,
honor, reward , literary that which surrounds or encompasses and in Greek mythology, Daedalus was a
skillful craftsman and artist . The portrait of the artist as a young man is not a story about a portrait or
a piece of art by an artist but the artist himself. It is about the experiences and difficulties in his life
that lead him into finding his passion, his purpose and himself. Joyce also uses the name Stephen
Daedalus for his protagonist as a reference to the builder of the Cretan Labyrinth. As the story goes,
Daedalus, an architect, created a maze called the Labyrinth to house a half man, half bull upon the
Kings request. To keep the secret of the Labyrinth safe, the King imprisoned Daedalus and his son in
the Labyrinth too. Trying to escape Daedalus created two pairs of wings from feathers and wax which
he and his son used to fly from the island. His son, who did not heed his father s warning and took too
much pride in believing he had outsmarted the King. He flew too high into the sky and the wax melted

Synthesis Lab
Introduction: The purpose of this lab was to utilize roasting, smelting, spectroscopy, and the carbonate
test in order to determine the identity of an unknown copper mineral. I determined that the most useful
of these tests in determining the mineral was roasting because it provides a fairly accurate percent
composition of copper in the unknown mineral.
Results: The purpose of performing the variety of tests that we did was to give more accurate results
of what the unknown mineral was. By roasting the copper mineral, we obtained copper(II) oxide. This
new sample came out of the crucible grayish black. It was very brittle and full of cracks. This provided
the percent composition that was necessary in finding the unknown mineral. When performing ...

Also, I think allowing more time to let all the copper(II) oxide be smelted would have increased the

The Jockey by Carson McCullers (1)
In Carson McCullers The Jockey there is an uproar of objection to the actions of an owner of horses
from one of his riders. The jockey is a very petite man. Although, he is petite he has very strong
beliefs. (1) He has dinner with a bookie, the trainer, and a rich man. During the dinner the jockey
believes that something should be done for his friend who was badly injured on the race track.
Unfortunately, the men at the table do not wish to help the jockey s friend and believe that they have
done all they can do at the moment. (1) The opening of the story begins with imagery of the Jockey.
He is not dressed for the occasion and stands out, but not in a good way. (1) The story states, He was
wearing a suit of green Chinese silk that evening, tailored precisely and the size of a costume outfit for
a child. The shirt was yellow, the tie striped with pastel colors. (1) Ironically, the Jockey walked into

The Analysis and Comparison of the Themes of Beowulf ,...
An epic is best described by the Merriam Webster Dictionary as a long narrative
poem in elevated style recounting the deeds of a legendary or historical hero. Epics like
Beowulf and The Odyssey are perfect examples of this definition; they are each
centered on the deeds and triumphs of their heroes, Beowulf and Odysseus. All epics are
similar in a way that they are made up of elements. One major element of the epic is its
themes. In all epics, the themes are what make and mold these narrative poems, they
descriptively outline the story. Most epics, like Beowulf and The Odyssey , have
themes like battles, homecoming, identity, recognition etc. Through themes like these,

identity from others is claimed first .
Like The Odyssey , Beowulf is also a legendary epic that includes the themes
identity, homecoming, battles and recognition as its primary focus. In Beowulf , the
themes homecoming and recognition are very closely related. When Beowulf returns to
Geatland, he is greatly rewarded for his works. He reunites with King Hygelac and tells of
his great adventures. Recognition is shown by Beowulf giving most of his treasure
received to the King, and in return is awarded with treasure of his home from King
Hygelac. Beowulf was praised and glorified for his homecoming(s) to Geatland and his return from
his victories over Grendel and his mother. He wasrecognized as a true hero , an Anglo Saxon hero to
be exact. In Beowulf , Kingdoms acknowledged Beowulf by showering him with treasures, feasts and
celebrations. Like God, to the Geats and Danes, he was worthy of all praises. He earned his
recognition. That s what the homecoming of a hero is all about, heroes being rewarded for their works
and receiving the uttermost

Descriptive Essay On Gospel Music
As I entered Chrysler Hall I instantly became nervous. Shamefully Mann s World Concert and
Comedy Show will be the first live gospel performance I have ever attended. I didn t know what to
expect. I m not as savvy in the gospel genre as I should be. The only songs that I have heard the Mann
family perform were the songs they performed with Kirk Franklin and the Family and the popular
ones that play on the radio. I glanced around the auditorium and it appeared to a full house. The
audience had several nationalities ready to enjoy a night of gospel music. There was a deejay table off
to the side entertaining the crowd as everyone arrived at their seats. The stage had band instruments
towards the back of the stage with a deejay table in front of them. The lights were beautiful; they
displayed various scenes and sceneries throughout the show. First to arrive on stage was David Mann
Jr. He walked out and headed towards the deejay tables that were center stage. His energy and music
selections pumped the crowd up and had everyone ready to party. The lights on the stage had a party
appearance and holograms of a dancer. As the lights begin to flash a different color I anxiously waited
for the next song to start. He played all the family reunion and cookout party hits such as The
Emotions Best of My Love, Carl Carlton s She s a Bad Mama Jama, Cheryl Lynn s Got to be Real,
Curtis Blow s These are the Breaks, Cameo s Candy, Maze and Frankie Beverly s Before I

Herpes Simplex Virus Lab Report
The first thing to do with a situation like this would be to first find out all the needed information
about the gene you can. The first important thing would be the size of the gene on the chromosome,
because viruses only have a certain amount of DNA/RNA they can hold inside their virus particle. The
gene is found on chromosome 20 and is 15,438 bp in length (NCBI). So, the only type of gene therapy
vector that would be able to carry a gene that large would be the Herpes Simplex Virus. HSV has a
carrying capacity of over 30kb, so this would more than fit the entire length of the gene in the virus
particle. It also is a good fit because after looking up information on PRPc, because it is a cell surface
copper binding glycoprotein expressed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This all seem well and good, but there are definitely some potential complications that may occur
along the way of developing this HSV vector. The first complication I can think of is, the vector must
somehow be effectively delivered to the neuron cells in a correct dose to not produce PRPc in too
much excess. The precise function of this protein is not quite known, but it is proposed that it may
have something to do with the uptake of copper into cells in brain tissue; so if this protein is
overexpressed, it could easily have a cytotoxic effect on the brain and you may end up in a worse state
then when you started (GHR). You also need this effective PRP gene to be expressed stably
throughout the lifetime of the host. If the protein is only expressed during certain life phases of the
virus, or very rarely, it will also not be of much help to you. So, having control of the expression of the
protein would be greatly desired (Kennedy. 1997). Another important complication to think about
would be, somehow managing to not elicit an immune response to the virus particle after you infect
the host with the virus. The first infection should be able to be successful without an immune
response, but a second infection might cause too strong of an immune response, rendering the virus
particles inert (Class notes). After fixing and dealing with all of these kinks, the name of the vaccine
will be OBI WAN. Because, after all, it is your only

Negative Effects Of Heavy Metal
How many times have you heard, music is the voice of the soul? Music has always been a universal
common attribute among teens across the world. Music of any genre has a way of making some
people feel alive, happy, sad, or in this case, suicidal. Heavy metal, in particular, in the 1980s had
deadly consequences among teens that have listened then inversely committed suicide. Heavy metal
music seemed to have a negative impact on the purpose of which the music is intended, its popularity
among teens, and the physiological issues related to the suicidal risk of certain listeners.
It is debatable that heavy metal sole purpose is to celebrate a newfound feeling of teenage rebellion
and sexuality, providing them with an escape from the realities of the world. While according to Susan
Barbieri s article in the Orlando Sentinel, some may argue that heavy metal instills imagery and anger
that play on fears about Satanism, drugs, sex, and violence. Heavy metal derived from the subculture
of Hard Rock, consisting of hypersonic drum patterns, screeching electric guitar cords, with loud and
often distorted grunts with subliminal lyrics. It is referenced that heavy metal has ties to a lot of death,
the occult, and Nazi symbolism associated with metal bands (Babieri par. 11). While some metal
music can have a positive self identifying effect, most metal music songs are written to promote
outward violence and morbid messages that tend to sway listeners to tap into their violent nature.

Sex Is While Some Take Sex
Many wonder what sex is while some take sex to an extreme. So let s start with defining sex. people
define Sex in different ways. It can include vaginal, oral, and anal sex. (Source 1) There are many
different ideas of about what sex can be such as Vaginal penis in vagina intercourse, Oral sex mouth to
genital contact, Anal Sex penis in anus intercourse, fingering or handjob hand to genital contact, and
masturbation. Most people are more fond of Vaginal intercourse than any of the other types. Now
everyone knows the simple positions for vaginal intercourse, but what about some of the complex
ones. The more complex ones will get you more aroused but the male will go off quicker though.
Some examples are: the waterfall, the hot seat, spin cycle, stairway to heaven, and the pretzel. (Source

Just like you rely on gestures and surprises in romance, you need to help the excitement alive in bed,
too. Just as sex can become predictable so can foreplay. So here are a few ideas to spice things up: try
things outside the bedroom, sext each other, learn to kiss more passionately, slow down explore each
other s body, and dirty talk to each other. (source 3)
Simple vaginal intercourse is sometimes enough for people but for others not so much. Many people
like Rough sex and prefer it over regular sex. Someone may ask well, What is Rough Sex? Rough Sex
is the type of sex where you involve pain in the sexual act, to increase sexual pleasure! (Source 2) It is

Gender Inequality And The Aristotelian Society
Gender Inequality in an Aristotelian Polity Aristotle s philosophies were deeply influenced by his
upbringing and interest in biology. He believed that the reason of a thing lies in its function.
Everything that exists has a purpose, and that purpose is the reason that thing is the way it is. For
example, all the substances that make up a seed are there because the way those particular substances
interact with each other causes that seed to grow. When the seed grows, it reaches its full potential as a
plant. Humans are the same. Human beings have a potential to live up to, which is finding true
happiness by living an honorable life. One lives an honorable life by complying with societal
standards, which are built through community based on three levels of organization. The first of these
is the household, which is designed to manage the necessities of individual existence, such as
procreation, sleep, nourishment, and shelter (pg. 35). The second is the village, which in simple terms
is the market place of society, where people buy and sell goods and services. The last of the levels is
the polis, the political community in charge of making collective decisions in the public s best interest.
Each of these levels performs an essential, inescapable function in any society (pg. 35) Species
survival is crucial to any society, and is covered under the household level of government. But
because species survival is so important, those who are capable of bearing children will be

of the most popular dogs in America due to the services that it provides for communities. According to
the American Kennel Club Dog registration statistics, the German Shepherd has ranked in second
among all other dog breeds since 2012. I believe the domestication and breeding of this dog played an
important in role in the development of mankind. German Shepherds have not only contributed to
multiple services around the country and world, but have made loving companions for many dog
owners across the globe. Through Europe during early 1900s, dogs were being bred to sustain

Nickel And Dimed On By Barbara Ehrenreich
The article Nickel and Dimed On (Not) Getting By In America written by Barbara Ehrenreich, who
has a PHD in biology, informs the reader about the struggle a low wage worker in America has to go
through. Ehrenreich goes undercover and takes low wage jobs to experience how a person with
minimum wage of $6 $7/hour survives. During her experiment Ehrenreich only uses the money she
earns from her job to pay rent, buy groceries,do laundry, pay for phone, and car. Throughout the article
Ehrenreich s purpose is to make high class feel grateful for what they have but at the same time she
encourages them to rally support to change conditions for low wage workers. Ehrenreich uses
rhetorical techniques of syntactic repetition, pathos, ethos, and evidence to persuade middle and high
class Americans to realize the need to raise the minimum wage in order for low wage workers to live
comfortable lives.
One of the many rhetorical techniques Ehrenreich uses is syntactic repetition as a way of instilling
emotions in a readers in order to make them feel sorry for the conditions low wage workers endure
and then help in some capacity. In very first sentence of the article Ehrenreich lists; At the beginning
of June 1998 I leave behind everything that normally soothes the ego and sustain the body home,
career, companion, reputation, ATM card for a plunge into the low wage workforce (Ehrenreich 243).
In this quote Ehrenreich just lists facts of what she leaves behind but it makes a reader

Untwine Analysis
The last huge piece of Untwine is how religion and hope can change a person. We learn right away
that the Boyer family goes to church every Sunday, and has much hope in God. But how that hope in
God fades away changes Giselle and her overall hope for happiness. One example of this is when
pastor Ben is telling the family that she will wake up. Like Lazarus. (pg 52). This message from pastor
Ben gave the reader a sense of the belief of the Boyers, and the hope they have in situations because of
their belief that everyone would have a chance to wake up and be heard. Another important thing to
realize was when Giselle said who would I be? Who could I be without her? (pg 51). This revealed
some of her feelings to God as she thought this. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The song The Firebird has a very fast moving, bipolar feel to it, which resembles Giselle s feeling
towards the situation of blaming God in my opinion. Another example of her feelings to God is when
Giselle says their thinking nothing bad can ever happen to them (pg 51). It showed her overall
lementation with her mind, but also with God. Giselle clearly chooses to blame her sisters death on
anyone, as she chooses to blame it on one of the biggest people in her life that she keeps her hope and
faith in. Maybe Giselle chooses to do this because she can t think of the real person to blame. Maybe
she chooses to do this because she s too afraid to come to the true reality of her situation and her silent
grief is too much for her to handle, so she needs support to get through everything. And maybe
everything is just blaming who she can. But Giselle chooses to blame God, and God is where her and
her family put their hope. When Giselle talks about their being more invisible places than visible one
she touches the thought that maybe that s where she s been looking for. The more invisible places than
visible ones, as an escape with Isabelle, but also a prayer for God, as she needs God to do something

It didn t take long for the puns to start on social media regarding Doug Weight and his head coaching

Rule Of Thirds Research Paper
The rule of thirds is a powerful compositional technique for making photos more interesting and
dynamic. It s also perhaps one of the most well known techniques. The rule of thirds states than an
image is most pleasing when its subjects or regions are composed along imaginary lines which divide
the image into thirds, both vertically and horizontally. It is actually quite amazing that a rule so
seemingly mathematical can be applied to something as varied and subjective as a photograph. But it
works, and surprisingly well. The rule of thirds is all about creating the right aesthetic trade offs. It
often creates a sense of balance without making the image appear too static and a sense of complexity
without making the image look too busy. What s usually most important is that your main subject or
region isn t always in the direct middle of the photograph. For landscapes, this usually means having
the horizon align with the upper or lower third of the image. For subjects, this ... Show more content

All rules are bound to be broken sooner or later and this one s no exception. A central tenet of the rule
of thirds is that it s not ideal to place a subject in the center of a photograph. There s many situations
where it might be better to ignore the rule of thirds than to use it. You might want to make your subject
look more confronting, for example. Alternatively, you might want to knock things out of balance. It s
important to ask yourself what is special about this subject, and what do I want to emphasize? What
mood do I want to convey? If the rule of thirds helps you achieve any of these goals, then use it. If not,
then don t let it get in the way of your composition. The rule of thirds is a powerful compositional
technique for making photos more interesting and dynamic, and attempting to use this technique
whenever possible gives your images the possibility to be more aesthetically

Health Education Philosophy
To sell oneself as a health educator, I must become the solution. Individuals believe that we can
prepare and overcome obstacles in the health profession. Allowing others to know I am a health
educator I must sell myself as one who not only knows the knowledge, but am able to present it and
teach it to others.
Second, I must be specific in what I articulate. Having the knowledge to explain my actions or the
ideals related to the course is good, but being able to give examples is even better. Show promise by
letting others know how teamwork is important to overall fitness, and then give an example like how
your team came together to win a state championship or something.
Step three in selling oneself as a health educator, be positive. Health class/P.E. class is the highlight of
most kid s days. By creating a positive and happy atmosphere, students will be able to enjoy the time
they have in the classroom, and they might consider you their favorite teacher. ... Show more content

Tragic Heroines In Greek Drama
In ancient Greece, societal conventions and norms permeated all aspects of life. The arts were
especially influenced by the ideals and beliefs of society. Gender was especially regulated in everyday
life, something we see reflected in many art forms. The ancient Greeks were extremely influential in
both the visual and dramatic arts. Throughout the development of these styles, we see how society s
established gender norms permeated the works of artists and playwrights alike. This is especially true
in the depictions of dramatic heroines. Women from famous legends and myth were popular topics of
study in the arts, but this does not mean they were spared from gendered expectations and roles. This
paper will study representations of Greek tragic heroines in Athenian drama and on vase paintings.
Through case studies of Alcestis, Medea, Electra, and Clytemnestra, I will see how perceptions of
these women consistent or varying across the different art forms, how they upheld expectations of
decorum, and how they are shown as upholding or challenging gender roles. By examining the
intersection of theatre and vase painting, we can have a better understanding of how Greek society
viewer these tragic heroines and the themes connected to their narratives. It is important to
acknowledge the time frame we are looking at for both the texts and vases. Greek drama greatly
developed and rose in popularity during the 6th and 5th centuries BCE, during which all of the texts
we will be

Surfing- Counter Culture
In order to successfully understand the inexplicable surfer s lifestyle as a counter culture to main

the views of the social norm. A counter culture as described by Professor Chad Smith in the second
week of class is, When subcultures specially stand in direct opposition to the dominant culture of the
society in which they are located, rejecting it s most important values and norms and endorsing their
opposites. As surfers began to express themselves more and more freely throughout the 1950 s and

They would create little gimmicks that would further classify themselves as authentic and a bizarre
breed. The Brown eye became a common sight to be seen around beach cities and surf spots, as surfers
would intentionally pull down their trunks and show their backsides to fellow surfers and the onshore
crowd. This however spread to the inter cites and by 1959 1960 in beach towns and the L.A basin, cars
passing by with a youth s bare posterior framed in the side window were a common sight (Irwin 22).
Although their attitude was indeed a huge aspect in labeling the surf community as a counter culture,
it did not stop there. Their personal image changed as they began to dress in a way unconventional to
society thus creating a distinction from others. Now at this point of the paper, we need to look at
another view of the surf counter culture in order to examine both sides of its complexity. Kristin
Lawler believes that the thriving capitalism that came post WWII had a huge effect on the growth and
direction in which the surfing counter culture took place. The counter culture of the 1960s was
welcomed by capitalist, who had already been getting pretty hip and countercultural themselves
(Lawler 6). With the surfing community identified as rebels to surrounding society, capitalism saw a
need to supply these groups of radical individualists with products that were suitable to their lifestyle.

Gang Behaviour And Conformity Essay
Conformity illustrates the shaping thoughts and beliefs to align with the opinions and thoughts of
others. Teens feel this pressure the most. At least 40% of teens say that peer pressure distracts them
from reaching their goals. (Peer Pressure Survey Statistics, 2010) Teens are unable to develop a sense
of independence to deal with peer pressure. Psychologist Abraham Maslow says a hierarchy of human
needs and one of the needs is to belong and to be accepted by friends, family and peers. (Grayson,
2015) Due to this, teens end up joining gangs and showing gang behaviour. Gang behaviour and
conformity is therefore due to lack of family, guidance, and authority, lack of opportunity, and social
and peer pressure.
Gang behaviour and conformity is due to lack of family, guidance and/or authority. Gang members
often come from homes where they feel isolated or abandoned. They may turn to gangs when their
need for love is not being seen at home. [After completing a ten year study of gangs in New York,
Boston and LA, Jonkowski wrote] I found that there was as many gang members from homes where
nuclear families were intact as there were families where the father was absent. (Jankowski, 2002)

The Hack a Shaq Strategy
The hack a shaq has been developed some time ago as a last minute strategy to hinder the scoring
ability of the opposing team. This strategy was initially devised to force the opposing players to shoot
free throws by intentionally committing a foul against them. The league eventually got the idea of
using this strategy against poor free throw shooters, like former NBA player Shaquille O Neal, not just
to hinder the scoring ability of the other team, but to literally stop them from scoring. However, the
NBA is considering to prohibit the use of this strategy because the basketball fans find it distasteful.

  • 2. Kazuo Ishiguro s The Buried Giant Kazuo Ishiguro s The Buried Giant follows the journey of a pair of elderly Britons as they travel through a land overtaken by collective forgetfulness. Soon after venturing out Axl and Beatrice discover the cause of their amnesia: the breath of the she dragon Querig, and without hesitations swear to slay the creature. However, while the restoration of Axl and Beatrice s lost memories would positively affect our main characters, turmoil would undoubtedly break out on a more large scale scope. Individual identity should not outweigh massacre and chaos. Querig should not be slain in order to preserve peace between the Britons and Saxons. Querig s death will result in a reversion of cultural tension between the Britons and Saxons, thus degrading ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If several decades were enough to heal a tense marital relationship wrought by infidelity, distrust, and grief, perhaps several centuries would be enough to heal the wounds previously mentioned. Gawain mentions, the bones lie sheltered beneath a pleasant green carpet. The children know nothing of them (Ishiguro, 286). Perhaps by keeping those bones concealed for several more years the children of the conflict, now grown into adults, would be compelled to forgive or perhaps would pass away. If the mist outlasted the previously mentioned age group the last memories of the Briton Saxon conflict would die out, thus leaving only room for peace. By remaining alive, even if for only several more years, Querig s breath could further improve the once tense relations between the Britons and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Casey Anthony Case Essay The Casey Anthony case was one that captured the heart of thousands and made it to the headline of national TV talk shows, newspapers, radio stations and social media networks for months. The root of the case was due to a clash between the parental responsibilities, the expectations that went with being a parent, and the life that Casey Anthony wanted to have. The case was in respect to the discovering the cause of Casey s two year old daughter, Caylee Marie Anthony s, death; however the emphasis was placed on Casey and her futile lies, which resulted in a public outcry. The purpose of this essay is to delve into the public atmosphere and inquire about why the media and social media collectively attacked the case by uncovering the content ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Casey told detectives several lies, including that her nanny had kidnapped Caylee on June 9, and that she had been trying to find her, too frightened to alert the authorities. She was charged with first degree murder in October 2008 and pleaded not guilty. The prosecution sought the death penalty and alleged Casey murdered her daughter to be free from parental responsibilities by administering chloroform and applying duct tape. The defense team countered that the child had drowned accidentally in the family s swimming pool on June 16, 2008, and that George Anthony disposed of the body. The defense contended that Casey lied about these issues due to a dysfunctional upbringing, which was said to include sexual abuse by her father. On June 5, 2011, the jury found Casey not guilty of first degree murder, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated manslaughter of a child, but guilty of four misdemeanor counts of providing false information to a law enforcement officer. She was released on a bond of $500,000 and a Florida court overturned two of the misdemeanor convictions on January 25, 2013. The performers of the trial played a crucial role in the trial, the verdict and the informal perceptions of Casey Anthony. The prosecutor and defense both played contrasting roles in shaping their client/opponent legally and informally, in the media. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

LA County Museum of Art Essay example LA County Museum of Art (LACMA) The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, or LACMA as it is commonly known, is among the world s largest art collections in North America, and to be specific enough the most prevalent artwork in the western United States (Compton 165). This massive art museum has a collection of over 100,000 artworks, which extends from the ancient times to present days (Gilbert and Mills 174). These collections, which are mainly from Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America and America itself, are grouped into several departments within the museums buildings, depending on the region, culture, media, and time period. These pieces of work include carved wood and stone, manuscripts on stone tablets and reeds, illumination, calligraphy, enameled glass, inlaid metal work and glazed ceramics, preferably from the Turkish and Iranian regions. These unique features make these pieces of art create an immediate visual impact to the observers. The Types of Artworks A common Islamic art masterpiece is the use of tiles, more so the Iranian Star shaped tile (Necipoglu 174). This is a 15th century artwork, probably made during the time when the Timurids ruled over Iran (Doak 136). This star like tile; as illustrated in Figure I below, has a decoration of geometric shapes leaves and flowers on it, with a major flower being positioned right at the center of the tile. These tiles were made to cover outer walls of buildings, with designs and colorful patterns, to make such structures more beautiful. The tiles were fitted together using mortar on the walls of structures to create a mosaic design that adorned the outer walls of the structures. Another common Islamic artwork was calligraphy, which is illustrated in Figure II. It was described as the most important of all elements in Islamic art. This art was considered dignified, due to its association with the Muslims Holy Book Koran, temple and palace inscriptions, and its use in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay On Ancient Mesopotamian Religion What similarities can you find between the religions of Ancient Mesopotamian today? Much like tens of thousands of years ago, religion is still a central component of our lives today. Some of the most popular religions today are Christianity and Judaism, both based on the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible and both based in the Near East. Because of cultural assimilation within the region, it would only be logical for the religions of today to share some similarities of those established in Ancient Mesopotamia. One of the most famous lines of the Bible takes place in Genesis 1:1, which states In the beginning God created the heavens and earth. This line is much like a similar creation myth from the Sumerians where Marduk creates the heavens and earth by using the body of the slain goddess Tiamut who personified watery chaos, proceeded to create the universe by dividing Tiamat in two, one part becoming the heavens and the other the earth with her breasts as mountains. From her eyes came the Tigris and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In those days the world teemed, the people multiplied, the world bellowed like a wild bull.... In the Old Testament, humanity has also grown, thus the beginning of the flood myth. Similarly, in both myths a wise man is told of a catastrophic flood that is to take place by the hand of the gods (or God) and he must quickly prepare. [B]ecause of his oath warned me in a dream ... tear down your house and build a boat, abandon possessions [sic] and look for life, despise worldly goods and save your soul alive. Tear down your house, I say, and build a boat.... Then take up into the boat the seed of all living creatures.... The purpose of the floods is to destroy humanity. In the case of the Old Testament, it is to destroy the humans who have grown wicked and turned their backs to God and return the earth to its beginning as a watery ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Access To Justice With the demise of the apartheid in 1994 and the implementation of the Constitution in 1996, it brought with it the concept of access to justice for all citizens of South Africa. The notion itself has developed and evolved beyond the preconceived idea of access to courts but encompasses one s access to legal and state services, social, economic and environmental justice as well. Although Section 34 of the Constitution provides that anyone with a dispute may seek justice by bringing the dispute to court with Section 35, from which Legal Aid South Africa derived its mandate, enforcing that those arrested, detained or accused has the right to a fair trial which includes the right to have a legal practitioner assigned by the State and at the expense of the State, justice is tied directly to political and economic position, power and wealth. • 9. Frankenstein And The Picture Of Dorian Gray As British... Eric Haney Mr. Kearney English 4 AP 27 May 2015 Frankenstein and The Picture of Dorian Gray as British Gothic Literature There is something at work in my soul, which I do not understand. This quote from Mary Shelley s classic gothic novel Frankenstein is very representative of the functional importance of gothic literature to humanity. Gothic literature can be viewed as the dark side of the human soul, as good usually triumphs over evil in storytelling; gothic literature is the release of all the darkness of the human experience usually embodied in a character. When used to describe literature, the word gothic is defined as of or relating to a style of fiction characterized by the use of desolate or remote settings and macabre, mysterious, or violent incidents (Webster). In addition to these stylings, there are several elements such as the supernatural, heroes, villains, and emotions that are very common of the gothic genre (Marinaro). Frankenstein is often viewed as the archetype of gothic literature, for the novel is certainly the most well known and studied literary work of the gothic genre, and also possibly because of its usage of classic gothic themes. Oscar Wilde s The Picture of Dorian Gray, however described as gothic literature, departs from many of the listed classic themes. The following will examine the origins of the gothic novel, it s characteristics, and how the British novels Frankenstein and The Picture of Dorian Gray exemplify, by usage ... • 10. Character Analysis Of Sue Monk Kidd Sue Monk Kidd does a great job of writing an interesting and engaging novel jam packed with an amazing setting and lovable characters. Each character providing their own very interesting and dynamic character arc throughout the story. Characters like Lily Owens, Zachary Taylor and June Boatwright, experience lots of progression in both as a character or in their personality and in the audience s feelings towards them. Characters like Rosaleen and May Boatwright that make you sympathize for the situation that they are in or the struggles that they face. Each time May experiences emotional distress, you can t help but feel bad for her and hope that she gets better. Whenever Rosaleen is discriminated by police officers, you can t help but feel anger and frustration for the wrongs of the past. With such a stellar cast of characters to choose from I would say that August Boatwright is the character that Sue Monk Kidd makes me admire. The way Sue Monk Kidd portrays the wise and caring character that is August is just very compelling to me. August s importance to the plot of the novel and to the characters of the novel is very clear. August Boatwright is the moral glue to almost every main character in the Boatwright house before and after Lily Owens and Rosaleen arrive. Without August Boatwright, there s no one to give May the attention and care that she needs. No other character except for maybe Lily shows any sort of patience and compassion for May like August does. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His father, Headmaster of the town s Dutch Reformed elementary school, was a devout Calvinist. Malevich s childhood was strict and based on the reformed Amsterfoot. In 1880, his family moved to Winterswijk, near the German border. In 1892, Mondrian registered at the National Academy of Art in Amsterdam. There he trained as a realist, concentrating on visual observation and with a strict devotion to detail. Immediately, post university, he moved around the countryside of Amsterdam to paint landscapes. In 1911 Mondrian saw the Cubist works of Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso. During this time he returned to working on landscapes based on the countryside. This time, he applied his new style of straight lines and curves, with minimal color. Eventually, he moved on to clean lines and colors without any transition, independent from content. Once the war ended, Mondrian immediately returned to Paris. The painting, Composition: Checkerboard, Dark Colors, made in 1919, is made up of a rectangular canvas divided up by a grid of uniform rectangles. These shapes have been filled in with three colors, a red, a purple, and a blue. These colors do not seem to be the traditional, colors straight out of the tube. For example, the red is slightly orange and the purple leans more red than blue. The colors are also placed in a seemingly random manner and each color is equally present. Mondrian placed these colors only according to his own intuition. It is clear that he made some alterations in color and changes are detectable in the rectangles that are filled with somewhat mixed or tinted variations of these colors. The equal amounts of color make it so there are no places to focus. Instead the repeating randomness creates a sense of static and movement within the painting. Unlike Still Life with Gingerpot II, the prewar example, Composition: Checkerboard, Dark Colors is not based on anything from the physical world. It shows how passionate and talented they can be when it comes to drawing or tagging and have it displayed as a piece of art for everyone to see. Graffiti goes way back to the ancient times and is now very well known in the modern days which makes more and more people interested and fascinated by them. It can be used in different types of ways. Many artists can either spray paint, carve, paste, or stencil them on a surface. From how we see them today they are usually images of random cartoons, big bubbly letters, vintage black and whites or inspirational quotes. Virtually anything colorful or not and big that can be easily spotted. Graffiti is more superior to be known as art than vandalism because it is a self expressing act. People need to be open minded about the images they see and look at the message behind it or else they will immediately criticize and say it is vandalizing property. It is a form of art not a crime. Going out of their way to trespass and damage property like fences, road barriers, or warning signs is considered a crime. Art wise, it attracts large crowds and shocks a few. It is a way to build a creative imagination and to be spontaneous. It really depends on how people look and feel about it. But there are artists that make street art which means that they are ... From there, we perceive the world exactly as Stephen perceives it. Through sounds, smells, and sensations we learn everything that Stephen is learning and many times in incredibly specific detail. Stephen s overly sensitive reactions and consistent use of imagery is proof to us that Stephen is different and views the world from an artist s perspective. This uses of imagery and motifs by James Joyce is used to describe how Stephen is able to interpret the world around him. Furthermore, Joyce reveals this through the name of the main character. Joyce s ability to make stories realistic was one of the reasons that he was such a tremendous success as a writer. Specifically, his use of imagery to establish motifs and symbols to provide a consciousness flow throughout his work that almost transports you into Stephens memories. If we can understand this imagery, then we can better understand Stephen s life and the time and place he lived in. The portrait of the artist as a young man is not a story about a portrait or a piece of art by an artist but the artist himself. It is about the experiences and difficulties in his life that lead him into finding his passion, his purpose and himself. Joyce also uses the name Stephen Daedalus for his protagonist as a reference to the builder of the Cretan Labyrinth. As the story goes, Daedalus, an architect, created a maze called the Labyrinth to house a half man, half bull upon the Kings request. To keep the secret of the Labyrinth safe, the King imprisoned Daedalus and his son in the Labyrinth too. Trying to escape Daedalus created two pairs of wings from feathers and wax which he and his son used to fly from the island. • 23. Herpes Simplex Virus Lab Report The first thing to do with a situation like this would be to first find out all the needed information about the gene you can. The first important thing would be the size of the gene on the chromosome, because viruses only have a certain amount of DNA/RNA they can hold inside their virus particle. The gene is found on chromosome 20 and is 15,438 bp in length (NCBI). So, the only type of gene therapy vector that would be able to carry a gene that large would be the Herpes Simplex Virus. This all seem well and good, but there are definitely some potential complications that may occur along the way of developing this HSV vector. The first complication I can think of is, the vector must somehow be effectively delivered to the neuron cells in a correct dose to not produce PRPc in too much excess. The precise function of this protein is not quite known, but it is proposed that it may have something to do with the uptake of copper into cells in brain tissue; so if this protein is overexpressed, it could easily have a cytotoxic effect on the brain and you may end up in a worse state then when you started (GHR). You also need this effective PRP gene to be expressed stably throughout the lifetime of the host. If the protein is only expressed during certain life phases of the virus, or very rarely, it will also not be of much help to you. So, having control of the expression of the protein would be greatly desired (Kennedy. 1997). Another important complication to think about would be, somehow managing to not elicit an immune response to the virus particle after you infect the host with the virus. The first infection should be able to be successful without an immune response, but a second infection might cause too strong of an immune response, rendering the virus particles inert (Class notes). After fixing and dealing with all of these kinks, the name of the vaccine will be OBI WAN. Because, after all, it is your only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. Negative Effects Of Heavy Metal How many times have you heard, music is the voice of the soul? Music has always been a universal common attribute among teens across the world. Music of any genre has a way of making some people feel alive, happy, sad, or in this case, suicidal. Heavy metal, in particular, in the 1980s had deadly consequences among teens that have listened then inversely committed suicide. Heavy metal music seemed to have a negative impact on the purpose of which the music is intended, its popularity among teens, and the physiological issues related to the suicidal risk of certain listeners. It is debatable that heavy metal sole purpose is to celebrate a newfound feeling of teenage rebellion and sexuality, providing them with an escape from the realities of the world. While according to Susan Barbieri s article in the Orlando Sentinel, some may argue that heavy metal instills imagery and anger that play on fears about Satanism, drugs, sex, and violence. Heavy metal derived from the subculture of Hard Rock, consisting of hypersonic drum patterns, screeching electric guitar cords, with loud and often distorted grunts with subliminal lyrics. It is referenced that heavy metal has ties to a lot of death, the occult, and Nazi symbolism associated with metal bands (Babieri par. 11). He believed that the reason of a thing lies in its function. Everything that exists has a purpose, and that purpose is the reason that thing is the way it is. For example, all the substances that make up a seed are there because the way those particular substances interact with each other causes that seed to grow. But how that hope in God fades away changes Giselle and her overall hope for happiness. One example of this is when pastor Ben is telling the family that she will wake up. Like Lazarus. (pg 52). This message from pastor Ben gave the reader a sense of the belief of the Boyers, and the hope they have in situations because of their belief that everyone would have a chance to wake up and be heard. Another important thing to realize was when Giselle said who would I be? Who could I be without her? (pg 51). This revealed some of her feelings to God as she thought this. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The song The Firebird has a very fast moving, bipolar feel to it, which resembles Giselle s feeling towards the situation of blaming God in my opinion. Another example of her feelings to God is when Giselle says their thinking nothing bad can ever happen to them (pg 51). It showed her overall lementation with her mind, but also with God. Giselle clearly chooses to blame her sisters death on anyone, as she chooses to blame it on one of the biggest people in her life that she keeps her hope and faith in. Maybe Giselle chooses to do this because she can t think of the real person to blame. Maybe she chooses to do this because she s too afraid to come to the true reality of her situation and her silent grief is too much for her to handle, so she needs support to get through everything. And maybe everything is just blaming who she can. But Giselle chooses to blame God, and God is where her and her family put their hope. When Giselle talks about their being more invisible places than visible one she touches the thought that maybe that s where she s been looking for. The more invisible places than visible ones, as an escape with Isabelle, but also a prayer for God, as she needs God to do something for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gender Differences In Professional Sports It didn t take long for the puns to start on social media regarding Doug Weight and his head coaching debut for the New York Islanders as they prepared to take on the Dallas Stars in Brooklyn. After New York kept their structure and confidence, even though the immense struggles of a power(less) play that was 0 for 7 on the evening and is 0 for their last 22, legendary Stan Fischler got into the act when his first question to Weight was, Coach, how much of a weight off your shoulders is this win? . • 31. Rule Of Thirds Research Paper The rule of thirds is a powerful compositional technique for making photos more interesting and dynamic. It s also perhaps one of the most well known techniques. The rule of thirds states than an image is most pleasing when its subjects or regions are composed along imaginary lines which divide the image into thirds, both vertically and horizontally. It is actually quite amazing that a rule so seemingly mathematical can be applied to something as varied and subjective as a photograph. But it works, and surprisingly well. The rule of thirds is all about creating the right aesthetic trade offs. It often creates a sense of balance without making the image appear too static and a sense of complexity without making the image look too busy. What s usually most important is that your main subject or region isn t always in the direct middle of the photograph. For landscapes, this usually means having the horizon align with the upper or lower third of the image. For subjects, this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All rules are bound to be broken sooner or later and this one s no exception. A central tenet of the rule of thirds is that it s not ideal to place a subject in the center of a photograph. There s many situations where it might be better to ignore the rule of thirds than to use it. You might want to make your subject look more confronting, for example. Alternatively, you might want to knock things out of balance. It s important to ask yourself what is special about this subject, and what do I want to emphasize? What mood do I want to convey? If the rule of thirds helps you achieve any of these goals, then use it. If not, then don t let it get in the way of your composition. Allowing others to know I am a health educator I must sell myself as one who not only knows the knowledge, but am able to present it and teach it to others. Second, I must be specific in what I articulate. Having the knowledge to explain my actions or the ideals related to the course is good, but being able to give examples is even better. • 33. Tragic Heroines In Greek Drama In ancient Greece, societal conventions and norms permeated all aspects of life. The arts were especially influenced by the ideals and beliefs of society. Gender was especially regulated in everyday life, something we see reflected in many art forms. The ancient Greeks were extremely influential in both the visual and dramatic arts. Throughout the development of these styles, we see how society s established gender norms permeated the works of artists and playwrights alike. This is especially true in the depictions of dramatic heroines. Women from famous legends and myth were popular topics of study in the arts, but this does not mean they were spared from gendered expectations and roles. This paper will study representations of Greek tragic heroines in Athenian drama and on vase paintings. Through case studies of Alcestis, Medea, Electra, and Clytemnestra, I will see how perceptions of these women consistent or varying across the different art forms, how they upheld expectations of decorum, and how they are shown as upholding or challenging gender roles. By examining the intersection of theatre and vase painting, we can have a better understanding of how Greek society viewer these tragic heroines and the themes connected to their narratives. It is important to acknowledge the time frame we are looking at for both the texts and vases.
