The Evolution Of The Samurai Sword
The Evolution Of The Samurai Sword The Samurai are some of the most feared warriors in the history
of warfare. Masters of hand to hand combat, surprise and showing no fear of the enemy. The soul of
the Samurai was his sword, it held the power and strength to cut men in half with a single blow. The
Samurai/ Katana did not appear in the history books all at once. The sword took hundreds of years to
perfect, and the smith months to make the perfect sword. The Katana became an art form and took a
master smith years to learn the ways of the metals and steps to go into making the sword. The Samurai
sword remains to this day the most developed and innovative weapon the world has ever seen. It is an

The production of swords came back to be used as items of luxury and sometimes as a weapon of
defense in the Japanese Army. The blades made at that time were dependent upon the smith or the
owner of the blade. They were made to his specific time period request or if the smith was
exceptionally good at making a specific kind of style. After the WWII many blades ended up as war
trophies for the Americans who took them from the battlefield. Many were destroyed and the art of
making them was becoming very rare. In the 1950 s Japan was allowed to produce swords the
traditional way again as a symbol of their ancient past, but they could not be used as a weapon ever

Glory In Oedipus At Colonus
In the last of his three Theban plays, Oedipus at Colonus, Sophocles examines the power relationship
and hierarchy between humans and gods, depicting and later asserting the control that gods have over
the fates of humans. Through the attempts and eventual failure of Oedipus to overthrow his
predestined fate to marry his mother and kill his father before the events of Oedipus at Colonus,
Sophocles establishes that humans have limited, if any, control over their lives, dictated by the higher
power of the gods. Thus, since life is limited, the impact and legacy of human life becomes
increasingly more significant. Evident in his consistent pursuit of glory and being remembered by
people even after falling from his former glory as king, Oedipus strives to establish a purpose and
meaning to his life in spite of the predetermined fate that the gods forced upon him. Glory, according
to the Merriam Webster dictionary, is defined as praise, honor, or distinction extended by common
consent. The aspect of glory that Oedipus seeks is the distinction or acknowledgement of his greatness
by the people as a whole, thus leaving an impactful legacy. Despite the fact that the length and fate of
one s life is predetermined by a power higher than oneself, the ultimate purpose of human life is to
leave behind a lasting impression on the world. Oedipus self reflection on his fall from glory and fame
serves to illustrate the consistently unfortunate fate that many mortals are subject to. Before

Why Do The Historic Theories Of The Origins Of Religion...
Introduction Why study comparative religions? You could study religion for the same reason you
study music or biology or drama. It is based on your interests. The second cultures of the world cannot
be understood without a knowledge of the influence of religion on everyday life. Lastly, politics is a
huge contribution for knowledge about world religions. How do the historic theories of the origins of
religion begin? Well the first theory is Animistic Theory which Edward Burnett Tylor in his primitive
culture Tylor hypothesized that primitive peoples developed a sense of the soul or the other from
experiences with death and dreams. The nature worship theory was developed by Max Muller, an
Oxford Professor. The magic theory in which Sir James Frazer wrote a huge book on religion called
The Golden Bough . The first phase people attempted to control the world of nature through magic.
Then the second phase people turned to religion with the premise that nature could be implored or
begged to cooperate by the use of scarifies and offerings. The last phase was when religion failed
people and turned to science showing a progress to a more rational understanding of nature. The last
theory is religion as a projection of human needs which a German philosopher Ludwig Feuerbach
claimed that religions were essentially projections of the wishes and needs of humanity. There are
many different ways to approach the study of religion. Even though this class is about religions it is

Describe How Jesus Presented As A Worker Of Miracles
Explaining the Term Miracle
The word miracle comes from the Latin miraculum , which means, to marvel at, to
wonder. A miracle therefore is a happening which amazes us and arouses wonder.
When we say miracle we mean an event which is so mysterious that cannot be explained by scientific
methods; something that we believe cannot occur naturally. A miracle involves a breach or violation of
the laws of nature. Usually miracles are thought of as something that has a religious significance.
Christians believe that a miracle is a sign of the power of God.

Describe How Jesus was Presented as a Worker of Miracles, giving Examples from the gospels.
Jesus never, throughout his ministry, performed miracles for his personal gain. This is shown
particularly in the temptations in the desert [LK 4:1 13], where he was given the decision of
performing miracles to make himself powerful, famous, or happy.
When he first began to perform miracles he simple did so because of his love of man, and his want to
do good, not to prove who he was and reveal his identity as the Messiah. At that time he actual tried to
hide his real identity to the people, this was known as the messianic secret. There are many examples
of him performing miracles because of his want to do good, while trying to hide his identity, for
example; a number of cures [Lk 4: 4 41, the cure of the leper [Lk 5:12 16], when he actually told the
cured man not to tell of this miracle, and also the cure of the demoniac [8:26 39], where he told the
demon to be silent when it began telling people of Jesus identity.
Later on in his ministry he began to perform miracles in public. This I believe was not only because he
wanted to help the ill, the poor or possessed, but also to establish faith in people, or to strengthen faith
in his followers, and also to reward those with faith. Examples of these are; the curing of the centurion

Bible 104 Worldview Essay
The book of Judges introduces us to the long years of Israel s struggle to maintain control of the
Promised Land and serves as the transition from the conquest to the kingdom. It deals with events
following Joshua s death (c. 1380 BC)
The main body of the story revolves around six cycles of apostasy, repentance, and deliverance. God
intervenes time and again to rescue the struggling Israelites from military oppression, spiritual
depression, and ethnic annihilation.
The book of Judges derives its title from the Latin Liber Judicum, but the Hebrew title is shophetim.
The verbal form ( to judge ) describes the activity of the various deliverers whom God used despite
their personal challenges, oddities, or inadequacies

They introduce a series of contrasts between good and evil judges, plus faithful and unfaithful kings.
As 1 Samuel opens, the era of the judges is still in the forefront, but it is fading fast. The leadership of
Israel rests on the undisciplined and elderly Eli, the high priest of the tabernacle at Shiloh and one of
the last of the minor judges (1 Sam 4:18). Throughout the early chapters of 1 Samuel, the author
draws a sharp contrast between Eli and his ungodly sons and the godly prophet Samuel. By the middle
of the book (1 Samuel 15 16), the same kind of contrast is drawn between Saul and David.
In 2 Samuel the narrative shifts to the reign of David as he rises above Saul s son Ish bosheth to
become the king, first of Judah and then of all the tribes of Israel (5:1 4). The book records David s
wars of conquest including the capture of Jerusalem and the relocation of the ark of the covenant to
the City of David (6:1 19). But the author also records David s failures: his adultery with Bathsheba
(11:1 26), Absalom s rebellion (15:1 18:30), Sheba s revolt (20:1 26), and the disastrous census (24:1
25). Like all the prophetic writers, the author presents a portrait of his historical figures from the
perspective of their faithfulness to God s covenant.

Driving Cars And Its Effects On Public Roadways
Throughout the past year, media outlets have reported that autonomous vehicles, or self driving cars,
will become increasingly used on public roadways. By 2020, it is estimated that approximately 10
million vehicles featuring driverless capabilities will be used on roads across the globe and vehicles
that are completely autonomous, with no user interaction, are expected as early as 2019. [1] By taking
the human element out of driving, researchers developing driverless car technologies claim that the
use of cars with autonomous capabilities can help reduce traffic problems, pollution, and significantly
reduce the number of accidents and fatalities on public roadways, as more than 90 percent of traffic
accidents are caused by human error. [2] Vehicles with driverless technologies that prevent the driver
from accidentally swerving out of a lane and automatically brake in response to objects in the road
when the driver is distracted can already be currently found on the market. Using a variety of sensors
and cameras, these vehicles can detect the surrounding road conditions and steer or brake in response
to other drivers, pedestrians and objects in the road to avoid collisions. During testing, researchers
have also encountered situations where collisions cannot be avoided due to unpredictable events that
occur too quickly for autonomous vehicles to respond in time. In these situations, crash optimization
algorithms can be created to allow the vehicles to respond in a way that

Fidel Castro And The Cuban Revolution
In 1959 Fidel Castro attempted to overthrow dictator Fulgencio Batista; Castro led a revolutionary
movement in a guerrilla war against Batista s forces. As anti Batista sentiment grew, Castro took a
leading role in the Cuban Revolution which eventually ousted the president. (Stevenson 118)Once in
power, Castro nationalized American property and because of this the United States diplomatic
relations with Cuba were cut in 1961. Even prior to the break in relations, President Eisenhower
agreed to a CIA backed plan to overthrow Fidel Castro. When John F. Kennedy was elected, he was
informed of the CIA s plan. The newly elected president, unfortunately approved of the plan to attempt
an uprising in Cuba against Fidel Castro. Before the Bay of Pigs invasion was developed; the United
States tentatively backed Castro, in hopes of keeping a good relationship with Cuba. During the short
lived time of alliance, Castro even visited the United States. President Eisenhower refused to even
meet Castro, instead he played a round of golf so not to see him at all. Before departing for Cuba,
Castro met with Vice President Richard Nixon. Privately, Nixon hoped that his talk would push Castro
in the right direction, and away from any radical policies. Nixon concluded that Castro was either
incredibly naive about communism or under communist discipline my guess is the former.

The Different Types Of Prayer

EVALUATE HOW THESE PRAYERS BUILD UP THE COMMUNITY OF THE CHURCH, AND
HELP STRENGTHEN A PERSON IN HIS OR HER SPIRITUALITY.
Most Christians aren t aware that there are several types of prayer discussed in God s Word, these
different types of prayer were created so they could be used in different situations, therefore in some
cases a specific prayer type won t work. You would be applying the wrong spiritual tool to your needs
or request. God has made each of the six forms of prayer mentioned in the Bible to have different
functions/effects on the readers.
The six different prayers in the Bible all have different names.
They are the following, The Prayer of Agreement, The Prayer of Faith, The Prayer of Consecration
and Dedication, The Prayer of Praise and Worship, The Prayer of Intercession and The Prayer of
Binding and Loosing.
Each of these prayers have a different target audience and description based on what the reader is
wanting or needing to hear, they also have a major effect on the community of the Church, some have
specific community based effects that are better in other specific situations, just like the prayers are for
the readers. Below are three of the total of six prayers which are spoken more in depth of their
meaning and effects they have on church goers and the overall community of the church.

Narrative Essay On Normandy s Men
Ashley Nelson Mr.Showley English 11 14 December 2015 Normandy s Men Plot J, Row 11, Grave
16. I didn t understand what this list of numbers and letters meant at first but I do now. They are in
reference to a sea of graves, so white they swallow all colors of life. The green of the grass, of tree,
colors of the flower, are covered by a blanket of sacrifice. That is the American Cemetery in
Normandy, lists of numbers and letters that reference fathers, brothers, husbands, and loved ones. Men
that will never come home again, because they gave it all to protect a dream, a dream many never saw.
During a week in France with a school group, we dedicated a day to the men of Normandy. It was a
very wet day; the sky was overcast and freezing. We choose our first beach to be that of Point D Huc.
When we first arrived, the scene looked like a wild garden. As we started to walk down a set trail, I
started to notice that one plant in particular had grown completely out of control, barbed wire. It was
everywhere, erupting from the undergrowth. We struggles free of the wire, moving to the cliff front of
the beach. The first thing I really noticed was how the terrain didn t match with what we had ... Show

sculpture. There were five separate steel pieces that flashed against the sky like swords. These swords
stood for those who could not, they stood for my grandfather who had fought on the beaches and had
watched his friends get gunned down next to him. The water was so calm that it was hard to imagine

Argumentative Essay On Gladiator Games
A gladiator sits in the dungeon sweating, for his turn is soon to come. He hears the howls of men and
beasts, the thud of corpses dropping to the floor, and the crowd applauding. Finally, he hears the
tapping of the guard s approaching feet down the corridor, and his life begins to flash before his eyes.
He is forcefully escorted upstairs and steps out of the gate that closes behind him. Crowds are
cheering all around him, chanting for his death. Growling comes from the other gate, and a lion
emerges from the shadows, charging at him. Within a few seconds, the jaw had clasped around his
neck. Blood was splattered on the floor and the crowd celebrated the demise of the prisoner. This is
the cruel practice of gladiator matches, in which those in power force men and beasts below them to
clash with each other for sport. I, Emperor Honorius, have decided to bring the abolition of this
practice. No more will organize gladiator matches, or they will feel the wrath of the gods and I.
The gladiator games are the sport of death and gore. Many have met their end in the arena, yet this
practice continued. At this point, the blood of all the fallen from the arena could fill the Colosseum.
We have even staged battles between entire armies, though the deaths of those men are real. Why do
we host these games? Greedy politicians and generals use them to demonstrate their power and
improve their social standing. They send those below them to their deaths for a better chance of
election. The

My Own Device ( Byod ) And Risks Associated With It
Abstract
This paper is about Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and risks associated with it. The conditions for
risks to occur, the managerial and technical solutions to such risks are discussed.
Introduction
BYOD or Bring Your Own Device refers to the policy of permitting employees to bring personally
owned mobile devices (laptops, tablets, and smart phones) to their workplace, and to use those devices
to access privileged company information and applications (Bradley December 20, 2011). This
concept is a growing trend for the information technology and many more business sectors.
Businesses that appreciate Bringing Your Own Devices have some advantages over the others. For
instance, the costs tend to shift towards the BYOD user instead of ... Show more content on

However there are an equal amount of risks involved with this. Security has been the primary concern.
A superior authority monitoring the employees all the time is impossible. The manager has no right to
access the devices of the workers as they are private. Also this might reduce productivity if the
employees lose focus on work and use their devices for entertainment or personal benefits. Using and
misusing data, network or resources in the workplace for personal gain. In some cases, data can be
stolen from the organization using such devices causing loss or theft of data. Hence there is lack if
control and potential malware threats (Pillay, Diaki et al. 2013).
Trend Drivers for BYOD BYOD is gaining high popularity and growth which is evident from the
Ovum s research paper published in 2012. Respondents in the emerging, high growth markets
(including Brazil, Russia, India, UAE, and Malaysia) demonstrate a much higher propensity to use
their own device at work. Almost 75% of users in these countries did so, compared to 44% in the more
mature developed markets. The research revealed that 79% of employees in high growth markets
believe that constant connectivity with work applications enables them to their job better, versus
53.5% in mature markets. There is a distinct lack of BYOD management everywhere. On average only
20.1% of employees who use personal devices have also signed a policy governing that behaviour.
USA and India are nearer to 50%. The

The Ancient Greeks And Ancient Hebrews
HIS 120 The history of the ancient Greeks and ancient Hebrews is very interesting. The two groups
had very different beliefs concerning higher powers and what kind of gods they trusted in. The
Hebrews believed in one God who ruled over them and controlled everything. The Greeks believed in
multiple gods each ruling their own area of life. Fighting was a very prevalent activity for both of
these groups, as it still is for many groups today. However, the reasons for fighting and violence were
very different for the Hebrews and Greeks. This can be explained by comparing texts such as The Iliad
and the books of 1 and 2 Samuel, which tell many battle stories of the Greeks and Hebrews. To start
off, we must talk about the ancient Greeks. As ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is essential to see that this wrath was truly a result of the actions of a god. The gods played a large
role in the Iliad. The gods were always quarreling with each other. Each god picked a side for whom
they wanted to win the war between the Greeks and Trojans. Zeus moved back and forth between
sides, depending on what the other gods convinced him of. There was a section between books 12 and
16 which said that Hera seduced Zeus to divert his attention from the Greek s success. But Zeus
awoke and helped the Trojans advance on the Greeks. This nagging and fighting between gods occurs
throughout the entire war. Each god wants to get what they want. This is turn causes the mortals to do
the same. The actual warriors fought for their own reasons. They did not fight for their gods, but for
themselves. They fought for honor, glory, praise, and riches. Hector, the king of Priam and main
Trojan warrior, said he would much rather die in battle than escape to safety. Why is this? He did not
want to be shamed. It was a much more honorable thing to die fighting than to run off and live with
your family. This was the case for every soldier in these battles. Everyone wanted honor and glory and
praise for themselves. They did not care about anyone else. They fought each other without mercy just
so they could be the best. These powerful warriors were not commanded by anyone to go out and fight
one another. They did it because they wanted honor and glory from others.

Why You should Buy American Made Essays
Have you ever thought about those little words in fine print that tell you where a product was made?
How about the last time you put tires on your car? Before you made a decision on the purchase did
you stop and ask where the tires are made? Probably not! You heard the only words you wanted to
hear....good and cheap! When did we stop caring about where a product is made or did we ever? Why
would this matter anyway and what importance is of it? Some may argue that free trade and imports
give us purchasing power. They believe cheaper goods results in more money in our pocket to buy
other goods. That theory is a farce with little to no data to support it. Buying American made supports
job growth, the environment and human rights. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I can just see the shoppers now just walking by checking the price and throwing a package in their
cart. One of the main reasons to buy American made is jobs. Jobs drive our economy. Financial
analysts pay close attention to the monthly jobs report. The monthly jobs report is a direct indicator of
how healthy our economy is and a forecast for the future. It s like the doctor taking a persons pulse. A
good strong pulse indicates you appear to be healthy, but a weak pulse indicates you may have
problems. It would be hard to pay for even the basic necessities without a job. When you buy
American made products you are supporting your friends, family and neighbors. Those folks are the
ones getting paid to manufacture products that you find on the shelf at your local stores. If they don t
sell those products then there is no need to manufacture them. We can no survive with just a service
economy. Meaning someone to fix your furnace or change the oil in your car. We need manufacturing
jobs to have a healthy economy. If the labor market is no concern to you then maybe the environment
is. Many foreign countries have little to no regulations on their manufacturing facilities to protect the
environment. The drawback of this makes it difficult for American companies to compete. Paying
fines or accumulating additional costs to meet energy standards is not cost effective. This can affect

Minority entrepreneurs have many barriers they have to...
Minority entrepreneurs have many barriers they have to overcome in order to be successful. Some
typical problems they face are limited access to capital, lower equity investments, and less exposure to
entrepreneurship. Minority entrepreneurs are twice as likely to be turned down for traditional lending,
which can discourage them from even applying for a loan. Not only that but they are less likely to be
considered by traditional or angel investors. They also generally live in run down areas, with poor
schooling and less access to successful people. One entrepreneur who has hurdled over all the barriers

Rick Ruban s NYU dorm, with each Simmons and Rubin only investing a few thousand dollars each.
Their first official release was LL Cool J s I need a Beat. It sold more than 100,000 copies giving
Simmons the leverage he needed to cut a deal with CBS Records for distribution. This deal was the

Moll Flanders And The Preface
The justifications made by the narrator of Moll Flanders and the anonymous author of the Preface are
not convincing because their claims are deceitful and appear to act in each individuals own self
interests. The narrator influences the story through unbelievable, and sometimes excessive,
explanations which control the readers thoughts about Moll Flanders choices and actions. Similarly,
the author of the Preface directs the attention onto the readers judgements to defend the novel. Both
the narrator and the author of the Preface abuse their power as storytellers in attempts to control the
judgements of the readers and rationalize telling a story full of crime and wickedness. The author of

The beginning of the novel does not agree with the justifications made by the author of the Preface.
The readers soon discover that the story s narrator is unreliable, which makes it difficult to for the
reader to have something of instruction from the story because the narrator may be lying to obscure
the truth (author of Preface 5). The narrator, who goes by the name of Moll Flanders , does not expose
herself (Defoe 7). When the novel begins she exclaims that My True Name is so well known in the
Records, or Registers at Newgate, and in the Old Baily....that it is not expected I should set my Name
(Defoe 7). The narrator conceals her true name to the readers because she recognizes that the
proclamation of her name may result in an imprisonment for prior felonies. It is at this blurred point of
view of the narrator that readers start to doubt if the events in the novel are true because they don t
receive a genuine guide through the story. Instead, they are left with a nameless raconteur that conveys
a personal account without disclosing her true self. The author of the Preface and the narrator exploit
their power which, therefore, makes their justifications unconvincing. Moll Flanders often provides a
passionate rationalization for her bad behavior which impacts the readers emotions and causes them to
feel remorse for her. Many times throughout the

Wright s Hunger
The reality of the past is that it is one of the few things that remain forever. For some, it is possible to
run from the past temporarily; however, it eventually catches up to the present and impacts a person
positively or negatively. In chapters thirteen and fourteen, Wright s revived childhood hunger for
learning causes him an internal conflict about his identity as an African American man with unique
desires. Following this idea of past meeting present, Wright re encounters his old hunger by
sympathizing with Falk and Mencken, men who have brought down upon [them] the scorn of the
South (308) for their beliefs and opinions, and immersing himself in literature. In doing so, he
recognizes how racism has shaped him to endure pain and accept

A Survey of the Information Need and Information Seeking...
CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
1. Background to the study
Information is generally useful in many areas and has to do with becoming informed and reducing a
users level of ignorance and uncertainty. According to Burk and Horton (1988), information can be
considered as an external entity with an objective nature, or that which informs or has the potential to
inform; or a combination of content or meaning represented by symbols and media or conduit, used or
usable in a particular context... In a highly structured and complex world, the need for information is
felt at all levels of the society regardless of an individual s location, social condition or intellectual
achievement. Belkin (1978) says information is that which is ... Show more content on

The role of information in secondary schools education is enormous, some of which are:
To give the students a solid education background
To promote intellectual development of students
To support class projects
It assists students to express their thoughts, feelings and need.
It helps in solving problems
It assists in decision making.
The information obtained must have meaning so that it can be used in a dynamic process of being
informed (Kuhlthau).
This research work will therefore enable stakeholders in education, i.e. parents, teachers, government
etc., to identify the types of information need by students and also broaden the information search
scope of secondary school students. It is also hoped that the finding from this study will serve as
catalyst to the government in providing good ICT facilities. Such as a well equipped library,
laboratory equipment and information centers that will boost the teaching and learning processes. It is
believed that the outcome of this study will facilitate the creation of a dynamic school curriculum, that
will help students and teachers acquire adequate and current information. This will in turn help them
to be self dependent and enable them in solving life s problem.
1.3 Research Objectives
The broad objective of this study is to examine the information need, information seeking behaviour
and uses of information by secondary school

STRATEGY FOR COMPETITION
From a Value based Management point of view, the value chain framework helps to build a relative
competitive advantage, together with Porter s competitive advantage thinking. The value chain
framework can be seen as one of two dimensions in maximizing corporate value creation.
The Competitive Advantage model of Porter portrays that competitive strategy is about taking
offensive or defensive action to create a defendable position in an industry, in order to cope
successfully with competitive forces and generate a superior return on investment. Competitive
advantage is created by using resources and capabilities to achieve either a lower cost structure or a
differentiated product. A firm positions itself in its industry through its choice of low cost or
differentiation. This decision is a central component of the firm s competitive strategy.
According to Michael Porter, the basis of above average performance within an industry is sustainable
competitive advantage.

Hive Vs Rdf
1.Hive Introduction: Business analysts, Data scientists, Data analysts, Statisticians, want to analyze
the data for collecting the important characteristics of the data set. In 2004 Google introduced
MapReduce. It simplified the data processing on a large cluster. But many organizations have only
few developers who can write good MapReduce code, which is written in java. (MapReduce can be
written in other languages). Hive was originally developed at Facebook. In 2007 in facebook, the data
processing infrastructure was built using commercial RDBMS. The data that facebook generating was

1.1.Hive Vs. Relational RDBMS: Hive is a schema on read. In traditional database, before data
loading, the table s data has to be decided. If the data being loaded doesn t match with the schema, the
data will be rejected. Traditional database is schema on write. On other hand Hive doesn t verify the
data while loading the data into the tables. But while issuing the query, Hive will test the data schema
with the table schema. The load operation is just a file copy or file move. But while reading log files,
during table creation we can use RegexSerDe. It uses regular expression to serialize/deserialize. The
Regex deserializer interface converts the string or binary representation of the data set into a java
object that Hive can manipulate. Serializer will convert the java object that Hive has been working
with into something that Hive can write to HDFS or another supported system. 2.Hive Architecture:

Equal Rights Amendment Argument
The Boundless Push for the Equal Rights Amendment
The progress that lead to the ratification process of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), in 1972,
began over a century earlier. The advocates for women s rights began their efforts in 1848 at the first
Women s Rights Convention in Seneca Falls, New York , where a meeting of 300 men and women
was held which called for justice for women in a society that limited their privileges. By 1900, women
had gained the right to keep their earnings and own property. By 1920, they had gained the right to
vote. By 1963, women were paid equally to men for completing the same work. In 1964, the Civil
Rights Amendment was passed and outlawed discrimination based on gender, religion, and race. In

The Equal Rights Amendment stated, Equality of rights under the law shall not be abridged by the
United States or by any State on account of sex. Schlafly, and her Stop ERA movement, were strongly
opposed to this societal change. In Schlafly s speech, What s Wrong with Equal Rights for Women?,
in 1972, she vocalized that, Of all the classes of people who ever lived, the American woman is the
most privileged. We have the most rights and rewards, and the fewest duties. Our unique status is the
result of a fortunate combination of circumstances. The anti equal rights group believed that the ERA
would lead women away from the support of their husbands, overturn privacy rights, send women into
combat, uphold abortion rights and same sex marriages, and ultimately leave women with less rights
than before. Phyllis Schlafly and Stop ERA supporters believed that the ERA was morally impractical
because it would eliminate the traditional role of a female in society. Despite Schlafly s speeches,
feminists and pro ERA supporters continued to push for equal rights and finally, on March 22, 1972,
the Equal Rights Amendment passed the U.S. Senate and then the House of Representatives and
continued to the states in order to be ratified. In order for the ERA to be added to the Constitution, it
needed approval from thirty eight of the fifty states within the span of seven years. After the seven
years, only thirty five states had approved the amendment, falling three states short of ratification.
This lack in support was influenced by Schlafly s anti abortion and gay rights opinions after delegates
and female protesters began to support taxpayer funding of abortions and a new gay rights agenda.

Benefits Of Big Data Analytics On Business Performance
The benefits of big data analytics on business performance
Why Big Data Is a Big Deal . Big data is a logo used to describe a massive volume of both structured
(is information already managed by the organization in relational databases ) and unstructured data (is
information that is unorganized and does not fall into a pre determined model) that is so large it is
difficult to process using traditional database and software techniques. In most companies, the volume
of data is too big or it moves too fast or it exceeds current processing capacity. Despite these
problems, big data has the potential to help companies improve operations and make faster, more
intelligent decisions.
Moreover companies that implement Big data analytics application gain tangible benefits in their
finance department, sales department, and human resources department. Financial statements (i.e.
Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and income statement) are the summarized results of the company s
operations. To produce those statements, large volumes of structured and nanostructured data which
come from multiple heterogeneous sources must be swiftly linked, connected, and correlated.
However, those activities can t be done by using traditional databases. For that reason, the company
implemented an advanced technology called big data analytical tool (Business Object). For example,
Financial Statements must be displayed on the CEO dashboards instantly all the time. To be able to
achieve his requirement, Business

Taught Financial Literacy
All Students Should be Taught Financial Literacy
In school, students are taught about Math, Language, Social Studies, History. We get taught things that
do not apply to the real world. We do not get taught how to save money for our futures and we also do
not get informed on how there are not many jobs open for our generation in the future which is a
problem. As you can see, if we do not learn about this topic at an early age, and it can act as a
potential liability to our future endeavours which results in an overall negative impact on our lives.

Once you learn something at an earlier point in life, it is most likely to stay with you throughout your
whole life. When a baby is born and it hears its family speaking in a certain language, it then starts to
store those words in its brain and also starts to speak that language, that language is most likely to stay
with that kid unless that kid starts to speak 2 languages. And just like that, when you are taught about
financial literacy at a younger age, that information that is given to you is most likely going to be
stored in your brain for most of your life. Not being taught about financial literacy can lead to having
a heart attack, weight gain/loss problems, diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure, substance abuse, etc. I
know a few people that are confused and stressed about their future jobs, their current jobs, managing
bills, etc, and I always ask them what they would want to do to fix and and their response is I wish I
was taught about what financial problems could lead to. , and so that is another great reason to why
financial literacy classes should be a subject. The pros in learning about financial literacy at a younger
age can lead to living a better quality of life, lesser health problems (I have listed them above), and
minor financial problems.
These are my reasons to why Financial Literacy classes should be taught. Not having much

was also this scene where Stan Lee sarcastically remarked to Sheldon to join him at his house for the
Lakers game in which Sheldon deemed as an invitation to his house, resulting in a restraining order on

Homelessness Is A Problem Of Homelessness
Homelessness is a monster. Each day, there are people on the streets suffering from homelessness.
These unsheltered people litter the streets, and plead for help. There are different types of
homelessness, but the most monstrous is chronic. The chronically homeless are left to endure the
hardships of homelessness without hope of an effective solution. Americans disregard all homeless
populations, but the most heart wrenching group that is disregarded is the veterans. The veteran
homelessness problem is the most ominous type of chronic homelessness, but a solution is possible.

face to veteran homelessness. A shift in demographics is occurring as troops return from operations in

(Veteran Homelessness). Veteran homelessness chronically affects such a broad group of people that a
solution is imminent. It is no longer the time to allow America s service men to wander the streets

causes that compound and makes a person considered chronically homeless. There are homeless
veterans that are stuck to live on the streets for reasons that affect non veterans as well. These include

(Squire, K. 2013). However, the current situation in the industry presents a prospective possibility of
the video gaming posing a threat to the educational development. Video gaming may support the
cognitive development of children and nurture the social and interpersonal traits.
Video sports date back to the early stages of the 1970s. The first video game finds its place in the year

Epic Of Gilgamesh Research Paper
Most myths can be divided into two groups given by their nature creation and explanatory myths.
When creation myths are known to have one main interpretation in each religion to explain the
creation of the world and its inhabitants. While explanatory myths explain natural processes these are
much more common and known throughout the world today. When The Epic of Gilgamesh is told it is
meant to explain the natural process of life and the understanding of humility through the main
characters lives and experiences. Death is an inevitable and inescapable fact of human life, which is
the greatest lesson Gilgamesh learns through the course of this epic.

looks to get everything he wants in life. The gods take pity on the people of Uruk and sends creating a
wild man named Enkidu to Gilgamesh so he can understand an other concept besides himself. In the
epic everything that happens to Enkidu is because of Gilgamesh s actions. From becoming made a
wild man then becoming civilized to how he dies the actions Gilgamesh does impact not himself but
his only friend. After turning down a goddess that found Gilgamesh very interesting in a very rude
manner, to the effect of he told her he found her disgusting she made it so the gods cursed Gilgamesh s
friend Enkidu to die a very slow death. This puts Gilgamesh morality in the forefront of his mind were

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder ( Adhd )
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), according to the textbook, is a lifelong
neurological development disturbance that causes inattention and hyperactivity problems (Wicks
Nelson Israel, 2015, p. 217). Many of those who have ADHD also suffer from one or more type of
learning disability, because their attention issues that inhibit their ability to focus on the materials
being taught at the moment (McNamara, J. [October 19, 2016], Lecture #6, Brock University).
According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, the fifth edition (DSM 5),
there are three categories for ADHD, the inattentive type, hyperactivity type, and the combined type
(Wicks Nelson Israel, 2015, p. 223 225). In this scenario, there are various aspects of Kate s diagnosis
that could affect the understanding of ADHD for those around her. From a biological perspective, the
composition of a child s chromosomes is arbitrarily taken from both parents which they each
contribute a random fifty percent (McNamara, J. [September 28, 2016], Lecture #4, Brock University;
Wicks Nelson Israel, 2015, p. 41 42). Each gene carries precise information and particular function
through transmission (McNamara, J. [September 28, 2016], Lecture #4, Brock University). Family
members who are intimately related are also more vulnerable to any physical or psychological
disorders due to the greater probability of passing on the gene (Wicks Nelson Israel, 2015, p. 43 44).

Essay on Organism Physiology
Organism Physiology
The course in which different kinds of living organisms are thought to have developed from earlier
forms during the history of the earth is defined as Evolution. Many time organisms evolve due to
environmental changes. To better understand evolution this paper will review a diagram of an
organism and explain how the organism has evolved physiologically to become suited to fit its
environment.
Organism
To understand the evolution of an organism it is important to understand facts about the organism. The
diagram illustrated below is a jellyfish. Jellyfish are located in the Artic Sea, the North Atlantic and
Northern Pacific Ocean. Jellyfish can grow as large as 120 feet long. Some jellyfish has immortal

This makes them rather inedible; however many creature do pray on them.
Jellyfish do not have specialized osmoregulatory, respiratory, digestive or circulatory systems. They
digest using the gastrovascular cavity; this is where nutrients are absorbed. Since their skin is thin the
body is oxygenated by diffusion and eliminates the need for a respiratory system. Since Jellyfish are
made of 90% water; most of their umbrella mass is gelatinous material. This jelly type material is
called mesoglea; which is surrounded by two lawyers of epithelial calls. This forms the exumbrella,
top surface, and the subunbrella, bottom surface, of the body. The jellyfish do not have brains but
instead they are made up of a network of loose nerves known as nerve net. The nerve net is located in
the epidermis. Jellyfish detect their stimuli by this nerve net. Once detected the nerve net sends
impulses throughout both the nerve net and throughout the circular nerve ring located at the rim of the
jellyfish s body.
Physiological Evolution of Jellyfish One way scientist can determine the evolution of an animal is by
studying the fossils of that particular animal. By studying these fossils they can determine the changes
over that particular time period. Since the jellyfish are such unique animal s scientist have very little
information pertaining to their evolution. This is in part because of the limited amount of jellyfish
fossils that are

The Provider And Patient Attributes
Provider and Patient Attributes
We collected a set of attributes for providers and patients from the EDW. For providers, we extracted
employee ID, employee role, and a physician index (a Boolean value; 1 if provider is a type of
physician, 0 if not). For patients, we extracted age, encounter type (all inpatient in this data set),
admission and discharge times, primary diagnosis, discharge location, length of stay, med service
(department to which the patient was admitted), discharge disposition (where the patient was
discharged to), and an index noting whether or not the patient had expired.
Network Visualization
We created two types of networks in this study. The first is a directed bipartite network and represents
interactions between providers and patient records (Figure 2). The second network is undirected and
depicts shared patient record access between providers (Figure 3). Visualization for both networks was
performed using Gephi. [59] Further description of these networks follows.
Provider patient Network
EDW data indicating provider access to a patients EHR was depicted as a directed bipartite graph (see
Figure 2 for a one patient example). The source node designates a provider of type physician, nurse,
pharmacist, etc. The target node designates a patient with a diagnosis of heart failure who was
admitted to NMH in 2012. An edge between them is an indication that the provider has accessed the
patient record. The complete bipartite graph included all providers as

The Effects Of Alopecia On Human Hair Loss
Many people limit alopecia to one thing, human hair loss. However, it has a tremendous impact on
many species in our society Et. Al s Frey, Rebecca J., PhD, and Taryn Terry (2016). When thinking
about alopecia, many people only think about the hair on top of their head. Alopecia can be found
anywhere on the human body also on some animals. There is a wide spectrum that results in having
alopecia ranging from inflammation, harsh chemicals, mental disorders too hereditary Kapes, Beth A.,

Research is still ongoing till this day, but many treatments has been found to help Et. Al s Frey,
Rebecca J., PhD, and Taryn Terry (2016). Alopecia has evolved over the years Alopecia like many
things started out small meaning individuals didn t know much about it. Even now people still don t
understand every factor Et. Al s Frey, Rebecca J. (2016). A great number of people lose hair from this,
but that s only a minor effect of this disease Et. Al s Frey, Rebecca J. (2016). Alopecia is the loss of
hair whether it s total loss, thinning, human or animal Heath, R., Chapman, M., Flavell, L., Woodrow,

afternoon, and the facility was packed with football players. Throughout the time I was there, I made
sure I noted the whole process of an athlete from when they first arrived and when they left the

Overfishing Is A Problem For A Long Time
Over fishing has been a worldwide problem for a long time. Overfishing is not only a problem for
Bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus) but with many other marine animals. The economic effect overfishing
has on the cost of fishing and how it affects people is important. Overfishing has a huge economic
effect on fishermen and the cost of fishing. Even though many people believe that overfishing is not
that big of a problem, it seems to be an ongoing problem in the world. Overfishing is a major problem
today and seems to be going unnoticed. People need to be aware of the negative economic effects in
order to change their ways.

Illegal fishing and unsustainable harvesting still plague the industry ( Overfishing ). A public grown
accustomed to abundant seafood and largely apathetic about the plight of the ocean complicates efforts
to repair the damage we ve done ( Overfishing ). Overfishing is and has been a very important
business to those who rely on it. For this to still happen all over the world shows how little people
really care about this horrible act.
The Bluefin tuna, which has been endangered for several years and has the misfortune to be prized by
the Japanese sushi lovers, has suffered a catastrophic decline in stocks in the Northern Pacific Ocean,
of more than 96% ( Overfishing causes Pacific Bluefin tuna numbers to drop 96% , 2013). For a long
time, Bluefin tuna have been a worldwide problem. It seems that nobody really wants to stop it, it
seems that people put little effort into a major problem. One Bluefin tuna sold in Japan for more than
£1m, reflecting the rarity of the Bluefin tuna and the continued demand for its fatty flesh ( Overfishing
causes Pacific Bluefin tuna numbers to drop 96% , 2013). An interesting fact from this newspaper was
that more than nine out of 10 of the species recently caught were too young to have reproduced,
meaning they may have been the last generation of the Bluefin tuna ( Overfishing causes Pacific
Bluefin tuna numbers to drop 96% , 2013). Amanda Nickson, of the Pew Environment Group said

Now, I strive to create an environment that supports learners with ongoing feedback related to project
based and technology infused learning experiences. I have used Ron Berger s book titled An Ethic of
Excellence: Building a Culture of Craftsmanship with Students as a guide for this process. The
process of class critiques, as described by Berger, has been especially effective in creating a safe and
collaborative learning environment (Berger, 2003). Applying the strategies suggested in my research
has helped me manage the change process in my classroom and has given me insight about managing
the change process in my school.
The complex social and historical foundations of education are rooted in the need to create a
population of citizens capable of contributing to the continuing economic and political stability of our
nation. First we were an agricultural society, then industrial, and now we are educating students for
futures with that are yet unknown (explainvisualthinking, 2007). The new dynamic, created by the
recent and rapid expansion of technology driven globalization has created the compelling need for
technology infused education in our schools (Friedman, 2005). As an educational technology leader, I
collaborate with other educators and families to create technology initiatives that will support
educational technology in our schools.

Rhetorical Analysis Of Outliers By Malcolm Gladwell
Malcolm Gladwell Rhetorical Analysis In the book, Outliers: The Story of Success, Malcom Gladwell
intended to teach the readers about the many different rules that he discussed in his book, to help with
the understanding people have of success. Gladwell defines outliers as men and women who do things
that are out of the ordinary (Gladwell 17). Gladwell accurately applies the rhetorical techniques of
logos, exemplification, and repetition to effectively employ how highly successful people are outliers.
Gladwell applies logos to help persuade people to shape their opinions of how they view success. To
build a better world we need to replace the patchwork of lucky breaks and arbitrary advantages that
today determines success the fortunate

Masters of hand to hand combat, surprise and showing no fear of the enemy. The soul of the Samurai was his sword, it held the power and strength to cut men in half with a single blow. The Samurai/ Katana did not appear in the history books all at once. The sword took hundreds of years to perfect, and the smith months to make the perfect sword. The Katana became an art form and took a master smith years to learn the ways of the metals and steps to go into making the sword. After the WWII many blades ended up as war trophies for the Americans who took them from the battlefield. Many were destroyed and the art of making them was becoming very rare. • 5. Glory In Oedipus At Colonus In the last of his three Theban plays, Oedipus at Colonus, Sophocles examines the power relationship and hierarchy between humans and gods, depicting and later asserting the control that gods have over the fates of humans. Through the attempts and eventual failure of Oedipus to overthrow his predestined fate to marry his mother and kill his father before the events of Oedipus at Colonus, Sophocles establishes that humans have limited, if any, control over their lives, dictated by the higher power of the gods. Thus, since life is limited, the impact and legacy of human life becomes increasingly more significant. Evident in his consistent pursuit of glory and being remembered by people even after falling from his former glory as king, Oedipus strives to establish a purpose and meaning to his life in spite of the predetermined fate that the gods forced upon him. Glory, according to the Merriam Webster dictionary, is defined as praise, honor, or distinction extended by common consent. The aspect of glory that Oedipus seeks is the distinction or acknowledgement of his greatness by the people as a whole, thus leaving an impactful legacy. Despite the fact that the length and fate of one s life is predetermined by a power higher than oneself, the ultimate purpose of human life is to leave behind a lasting impression on the world. Oedipus self reflection on his fall from glory and fame serves to illustrate the consistently unfortunate fate that many mortals are subject to. Before ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Why Do The Historic Theories Of The Origins Of Religion... Introduction Why study comparative religions? You could study religion for the same reason you study music or biology or drama. It is based on your interests. The second cultures of the world cannot be understood without a knowledge of the influence of religion on everyday life. Lastly, politics is a huge contribution for knowledge about world religions. How do the historic theories of the origins of religion begin? Well the first theory is Animistic Theory which Edward Burnett Tylor in his primitive culture Tylor hypothesized that primitive peoples developed a sense of the soul or the other from experiences with death and dreams. The nature worship theory was developed by Max Muller, an Oxford Professor. The magic theory in which Sir James Frazer wrote a huge book on religion called The Golden Bough . The first phase people attempted to control the world of nature through magic. Then the second phase people turned to religion with the premise that nature could be implored or begged to cooperate by the use of scarifies and offerings. The last phase was when religion failed people and turned to science showing a progress to a more rational understanding of nature. The last theory is religion as a projection of human needs which a German philosopher Ludwig Feuerbach claimed that religions were essentially projections of the wishes and needs of humanity. There are many different ways to approach the study of religion. Even though this class is about religions it is our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Describe How Jesus Presented As A Worker Of Miracles Explaining the Term Miracle The word miracle comes from the Latin miraculum , which means, to marvel at, to wonder. A miracle therefore is a happening which amazes us and arouses wonder. When we say miracle we mean an event which is so mysterious that cannot be explained by scientific methods; something that we believe cannot occur naturally. A miracle involves a breach or violation of the laws of nature. Usually miracles are thought of as something that has a religious significance. Christians believe that a miracle is a sign of the power of God. The essential Catholic hand book has this to say on miracles; An occurrence that alters the laws of nature and is a sign of God s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (ii) Describe How Jesus was Presented as a Worker of Miracles, giving Examples from the gospels. Jesus never, throughout his ministry, performed miracles for his personal gain. This is shown particularly in the temptations in the desert [LK 4:1 13], where he was given the decision of performing miracles to make himself powerful, famous, or happy. When he first began to perform miracles he simple did so because of his love of man, and his want to do good, not to prove who he was and reveal his identity as the Messiah. At that time he actual tried to hide his real identity to the people, this was known as the messianic secret. There are many examples of him performing miracles because of his want to do good, while trying to hide his identity, for example; a number of cures [Lk 4: 4 41, the cure of the leper [Lk 5:12 16], when he actually told the cured man not to tell of this miracle, and also the cure of the demoniac [8:26 39], where he told the demon to be silent when it began telling people of Jesus identity. Later on in his ministry he began to perform miracles in public. This I believe was not only because he wanted to help the ill, the poor or possessed, but also to establish faith in people, or to strengthen faith in his followers, and also to reward those with faith. Examples of these are; the curing of the centurion s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bible 104 Worldview Essay The book of Judges introduces us to the long years of Israel s struggle to maintain control of the Promised Land and serves as the transition from the conquest to the kingdom. It deals with events following Joshua s death (c. 1380 BC) The main body of the story revolves around six cycles of apostasy, repentance, and deliverance. God intervenes time and again to rescue the struggling Israelites from military oppression, spiritual depression, and ethnic annihilation. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They introduce a series of contrasts between good and evil judges, plus faithful and unfaithful kings. As 1 Samuel opens, the era of the judges is still in the forefront, but it is fading fast. The leadership of Israel rests on the undisciplined and elderly Eli, the high priest of the tabernacle at Shiloh and one of the last of the minor judges (1 Sam 4:18). Throughout the early chapters of 1 Samuel, the author draws a sharp contrast between Eli and his ungodly sons and the godly prophet Samuel. By the middle of the book (1 Samuel 15 16), the same kind of contrast is drawn between Saul and David. In 2 Samuel the narrative shifts to the reign of David as he rises above Saul s son Ish bosheth to become the king, first of Judah and then of all the tribes of Israel (5:1 4). The book records David s wars of conquest including the capture of Jerusalem and the relocation of the ark of the covenant to the City of David (6:1 19). But the author also records David s failures: his adultery with Bathsheba (11:1 26), Absalom s rebellion (15:1 18:30), Sheba s revolt (20:1 26), and the disastrous census (24:1 25). Like all the prophetic writers, the author presents a portrait of his historical figures from the perspective of their faithfulness to God s covenant. • 9. Driving Cars And Its Effects On Public Roadways Throughout the past year, media outlets have reported that autonomous vehicles, or self driving cars, will become increasingly used on public roadways. By 2020, it is estimated that approximately 10 million vehicles featuring driverless capabilities will be used on roads across the globe and vehicles that are completely autonomous, with no user interaction, are expected as early as 2019. [1] By taking the human element out of driving, researchers developing driverless car technologies claim that the use of cars with autonomous capabilities can help reduce traffic problems, pollution, and significantly reduce the number of accidents and fatalities on public roadways, as more than 90 percent of traffic accidents are caused by human error. [2] Vehicles with driverless technologies that prevent the driver from accidentally swerving out of a lane and automatically brake in response to objects in the road when the driver is distracted can already be currently found on the market. Using a variety of sensors and cameras, these vehicles can detect the surrounding road conditions and steer or brake in response to other drivers, pedestrians and objects in the road to avoid collisions. During testing, researchers have also encountered situations where collisions cannot be avoided due to unpredictable events that occur too quickly for autonomous vehicles to respond in time. In these situations, crash optimization algorithms can be created to allow the vehicles to respond in a way that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As anti Batista sentiment grew, Castro took a leading role in the Cuban Revolution which eventually ousted the president. (Stevenson 118)Once in power, Castro nationalized American property and because of this the United States diplomatic relations with Cuba were cut in 1961. Even prior to the break in relations, President Eisenhower agreed to a CIA backed plan to overthrow Fidel Castro. When John F. Kennedy was elected, he was informed of the CIA s plan. The newly elected president, unfortunately approved of the plan to attempt an uprising in Cuba against Fidel Castro. Before the Bay of Pigs invasion was developed; the United States tentatively backed Castro, in hopes of keeping a good relationship with Cuba. During the short lived time of alliance, Castro even visited the United States. President Eisenhower refused to even meet Castro, instead he played a round of golf so not to see him at all. Before departing for Cuba, Castro met with Vice President Richard Nixon. Privately, Nixon hoped that his talk would push Castro in the right direction, and away from any radical policies. Nixon concluded that Castro was either incredibly naive about communism or under communist discipline my guess is the former. I didn t understand what this list of numbers and letters meant at first but I do now. They are in reference to a sea of graves, so white they swallow all colors of life. The green of the grass, of tree, colors of the flower, are covered by a blanket of sacrifice. That is the American Cemetery in Normandy, lists of numbers and letters that reference fathers, brothers, husbands, and loved ones. Men that will never come home again, because they gave it all to protect a dream, a dream many never saw. During a week in France with a school group, we dedicated a day to the men of Normandy. It was a very wet day; the sky was overcast and freezing. We choose our first beach to be that of Point D Huc. When we first arrived, the scene looked like a wild garden. As we started to walk down a set trail, I started to notice that one plant in particular had grown completely out of control, barbed wire. It was everywhere, erupting from the undergrowth. These swords stood for those who could not, they stood for my grandfather who had fought on the beaches and had watched his friends get gunned down next to him. • 13. Argumentative Essay On Gladiator Games A gladiator sits in the dungeon sweating, for his turn is soon to come. He hears the howls of men and beasts, the thud of corpses dropping to the floor, and the crowd applauding. Finally, he hears the tapping of the guard s approaching feet down the corridor, and his life begins to flash before his eyes. He is forcefully escorted upstairs and steps out of the gate that closes behind him. Crowds are cheering all around him, chanting for his death. Growling comes from the other gate, and a lion emerges from the shadows, charging at him. Within a few seconds, the jaw had clasped around his neck. Blood was splattered on the floor and the crowd celebrated the demise of the prisoner. This is the cruel practice of gladiator matches, in which those in power force men and beasts below them to clash with each other for sport. I, Emperor Honorius, have decided to bring the abolition of this practice. No more will organize gladiator matches, or they will feel the wrath of the gods and I. The gladiator games are the sport of death and gore. Many have met their end in the arena, yet this practice continued. At this point, the blood of all the fallen from the arena could fill the Colosseum. We have even staged battles between entire armies, though the deaths of those men are real. Why do we host these games? Greedy politicians and generals use them to demonstrate their power and improve their social standing. They send those below them to their deaths for a better chance of election. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. The Ancient Greeks And Ancient Hebrews HIS 120 The history of the ancient Greeks and ancient Hebrews is very interesting. The two groups had very different beliefs concerning higher powers and what kind of gods they trusted in. The Hebrews believed in one God who ruled over them and controlled everything. The Greeks believed in multiple gods each ruling their own area of life. Fighting was a very prevalent activity for both of these groups, as it still is for many groups today. However, the reasons for fighting and violence were very different for the Hebrews and Greeks. This can be explained by comparing texts such as The Iliad and the books of 1 and 2 Samuel, which tell many battle stories of the Greeks and Hebrews. To start off, we must talk about the ancient Greeks. As ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is essential to see that this wrath was truly a result of the actions of a god. The gods played a large role in the Iliad. The gods were always quarreling with each other. Each god picked a side for whom they wanted to win the war between the Greeks and Trojans. Zeus moved back and forth between sides, depending on what the other gods convinced him of. There was a section between books 12 and 16 which said that Hera seduced Zeus to divert his attention from the Greek s success. But Zeus awoke and helped the Trojans advance on the Greeks. This nagging and fighting between gods occurs throughout the entire war. Each god wants to get what they want. This is turn causes the mortals to do the same. The actual warriors fought for their own reasons. They did not fight for their gods, but for themselves. They fought for honor, glory, praise, and riches. Hector, the king of Priam and main Trojan warrior, said he would much rather die in battle than escape to safety. Why is this? He did not want to be shamed. It was a much more honorable thing to die fighting than to run off and live with your family. This was the case for every soldier in these battles. Everyone wanted honor and glory and praise for themselves. They did not care about anyone else. They fought each other without mercy just so they could be the best. These powerful warriors were not commanded by anyone to go out and fight one another. They did it because they wanted honor and glory from others. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Before you made a decision on the purchase did you stop and ask where the tires are made? Probably not! You heard the only words you wanted to hear....good and cheap! When did we stop caring about where a product is made or did we ever? Why would this matter anyway and what importance is of it? Some may argue that free trade and imports give us purchasing power. They believe cheaper goods results in more money in our pocket to buy other goods. That theory is a farce with little to no data to support it. Buying American made supports job growth, the environment and human rights. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I can just see the shoppers now just walking by checking the price and throwing a package in their cart. One of the main reasons to buy American made is jobs. Jobs drive our economy. Financial analysts pay close attention to the monthly jobs report. The monthly jobs report is a direct indicator of how healthy our economy is and a forecast for the future. It s like the doctor taking a persons pulse. A good strong pulse indicates you appear to be healthy, but a weak pulse indicates you may have problems. It would be hard to pay for even the basic necessities without a job. When you buy American made products you are supporting your friends, family and neighbors. Those folks are the ones getting paid to manufacture products that you find on the shelf at your local stores. If they don t sell those products then there is no need to manufacture them. We can no survive with just a service economy. Meaning someone to fix your furnace or change the oil in your car. We need manufacturing jobs to have a healthy economy. If the labor market is no concern to you then maybe the environment is. Many foreign countries have little to no regulations on their manufacturing facilities to protect the environment. The drawback of this makes it difficult for American companies to compete. Paying fines or accumulating additional costs to meet energy standards is not cost effective. This can affect the ... However, they were not the first label to put out rap and not as many revolutionary artists as one might think. So why do they have an almost mythical status? Def Jam got its status because Simmons recognized the worth of hip hop music, and saw how it could expand into a cultural revolution. Def Jam s started in Rick Ruban s NYU dorm, with each Simmons and Rubin only investing a few thousand dollars each. Their first official release was LL Cool J s I need a Beat. It sold more than 100,000 copies giving Simmons the leverage he needed to cut a deal with CBS Records for distribution. This deal was the first of its kind for hip hop. Simmons secured Def Jams future by making clever decisions that seemed insane at the time, such as pairing Run D.M.C. with Aerosmith on the cover of Walk This Way. The video of this duo finally got hip hop onto MTV, which had a negative view on rap at the time. Rubin left Def Jam in 1988, making Simmons the sole head of the company. Similarly, the author of the Preface directs the attention onto the readers judgements to defend the novel. The beginning of the novel does not agree with the justifications made by the author of the Preface. The readers soon discover that the story s narrator is unreliable, which makes it difficult to for the reader to have something of instruction from the story because the narrator may be lying to obscure the truth (author of Preface 5). The narrator, who goes by the name of Moll Flanders , does not expose herself (Defoe 7). When the novel begins she exclaims that My True Name is so well known in the Records, or Registers at Newgate, and in the Old Baily....that it is not expected I should set my Name (Defoe 7). The narrator conceals her true name to the readers because she recognizes that the proclamation of her name may result in an imprisonment for prior felonies. It is at this blurred point of view of the narrator that readers start to doubt if the events in the novel are true because they don t receive a genuine guide through the story. Instead, they are left with a nameless raconteur that conveys a personal account without disclosing her true self. The author of the Preface and the narrator exploit their power which, therefore, makes their justifications unconvincing. We have the most rights and rewards, and the fewest duties. Our unique status is the result of a fortunate combination of circumstances. The anti equal rights group believed that the ERA would lead women away from the support of their husbands, overturn privacy rights, send women into combat, uphold abortion rights and same sex marriages, and ultimately leave women with less rights than before. Phyllis Schlafly and Stop ERA supporters believed that the ERA was morally impractical because it would eliminate the traditional role of a female in society. Despite Schlafly s speeches, feminists and pro ERA supporters continued to push for equal rights and finally, on March 22, 1972, the Equal Rights Amendment passed the U.S. Senate and then the House of Representatives and continued to the states in order to be ratified. In order for the ERA to be added to the Constitution, it needed approval from thirty eight of the fifty states within the span of seven years. After the seven years, only thirty five states had approved the amendment, falling three states short of ratification.
