Life Is Beautiful And The Novel `` Survival `` Auschwitz ``
Throughout the movie Life is Beautiful and the novel Survival in Auschwitz are showing the harsh
times of the Holocaust. The Holocaust affected millions of people for the rest of their lives. Both
Primo Levi (the main character in Survival of Auschwitz) and Guido (the main character in Life is
Beautiful) suffered through the dehumanization process, working long harsh hours, but the effects of
the dehumanization differ through each main character. Primo and Guido are of the Italian descent and
speak Italian. In the concentration camps, many different languages were spoken among the prisoners,
resulting in many not being able to communicate with one another. The incapacity to communicate
took away the beauty in language with the vague guessing of what another person was trying to say.
As Primo states, I understand that they are ordering me to be quiet, but the word is new to me, and
since I do not know its meaning and implications, my inquietude increases. The confusion of
languages is a fundamental component of the manner of living here...(Survival of Auschwitz, 25) .
This demonstrates that the language barrier forced on prisoners only further dehumanizes them.
Similarly, in the scene of Life is Beautiful, The guards asks for a translator to translate what he is
saying to the prisoners. Guido volunteers even though he does not know how to speak any German.
(Life is Beautiful) The reason behind this is to strengthen his humanity again by being someone
important to the

Utopia in Gulliver Travels and Paradise Lost Essay
The Inconceivable Utopia in Gulliver Travels and Paradise Lost
In Jonathon Swift s Gulliver Travels and in John Milton s Paradise Lost, the reader is presented with
two lands representing utopias. For Swift this land is an island inhabited by horse like creatures called
Houyhnhnms who rule over man like beasts called Yahoos. For Milton, the Garden of Eden before the
Fall of man represents Paradise. In it, Adam and Eve are pure and innocent, untested and faithful to
God. The American Heritage Dictionary defines utopia as an ideally perfect place, especially in its
social, political, and moral aspects. And while Houyhnhnm Land and the Garden of Eden may seem
like ideally perfect places, they are not. Indeed, they contradict our ... Show more content on

The prospect of utopia, that is, an unchanging static society, has little appeal compared to the prospect
of trying to reach such an exalted existence. And it s this idea of progress that we often associate with
the idea of utopia. Appealing as it may seem, an utopia is a double edged sword. It is both the end
result of our desires and an end to those desires. Because ending our desire goes against our human
nature, the notion of utopia can no longer exist to the human mind. Therefore, neither the Garden of
Eden nor the island of the Houyhnhnms is an utopia because both societies are unchanging. In them,
both progress and desire is forbidden.
In Book IV of Gulliver s Travels, Gulliver s ship is mutinied and he is forced into exile to a strange
island. On this island he first encounters a rare breed of animal. He describes them, Their heads and
breasts were covered with a thick hair, some frizzled and others lank; they had beards like goats, and a
long ridge of hair down their backs (2403). These creatures are Yahoos, an inferior species that s very
human in nature and in physical form. Next Gulliver meets the Houyhnhmns, rational horses who rule
over the human like Yahoos. These two types of creatures symbolize both extremes of human nature,
that of reason and emotion. The Yahoos are described as detestable beings driven by passion and
emotion while the Houyhnhmns are reveled by Gulliver because of their

Symbolism In Slaughterhouse-Five
In the novel Slaughterhouse Five the author, Kurt Vonnegut, discusses some issues in society that he
believes should be different. The issues that I will be writing about in this essay are; the glorification
of war and war heroes , and the inevitability of war. He expresses his criticism on these topics using a
number of literary techniques, which include; metaphors and imagery.
When writing about war in Slaughterhouse Five , Vonnegut tries to show the reality of war and the
people who fight in them in order to put a stop to the glorification of war and how the public views its
soldiers. He uses a metaphor to show a reality to who the soldiers are and how society tries to mask
that when he writes (as Mary O Hare) You were just babies in the war like the ones upstairs! (...) But
you re not going to write it that way, are you (...) You ll pretend you were men instead of babies, and

David Bowie s theatricality on stage has been influenced by Brecht s philosophy around performance.
Berthold Brecht was a famous German poet, playwright and theatre director most well known for his
use of alienation techniques with his plays (Buckley, 2013). Alienation, distancing the audience from
immersing themselves the characters opposed to naturalism Brecht wanted to make the audience
critical and aware of what was happening. Brecht mostly used music, songs and gestures to convey
meaning in his plays (Buckley, 2013). By doing this he was able encourage the audience to create their
own perception of what was occurring. Bowie incorporates this technique within his songs and
performances. He feels that it is important for his audience to have their own association of what I am

Sears Holdings Corp. (SHLD) SWOT Analysis, Porter s Five...
Our recommendation is to take Sears Holdings Corp. (SHLD) private through a private equity buyout.
After doing so, we recommend implementing a centralized management structure and recruiting retail
savvy executives for the upper management team. We then recommend focusing on increasing value
by capitalizing on SHLD s real estate holdings through leasing agreements and increasing partnerships
with complementary enterprises. Also, we recommend improving employee retention rates and
retaining exclusive rights to private brands. Finally, we recommend focusing on a long term strategy
to continue to maximize SHLD s ecommerce platforms. We believe these recommendations will lead
to long term stability through increases in customer base and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Additionally, Sears inventory turnover is equal to 148 days, which is more than 2x the industry
average of 65 days. Finally, Sears Holdings quick ratio is .20, which indicates potential for a liquidity
crunch because its liquid assets cannot pay off its current liabilities in a crisis. Opportunities One of
the opportunities for SHDL to explore is to expand in to other nations, particularly emerging markets.
Another opportunity is to expand is to accelerate the growth of SHLD s ecommerce programs, which
only represents 3% of its revenues, especially as the industry is slowly shifting from brick and mortar
to brick and click format. Lastly, SHLD has an opportunity to lease floor space out to companies who
can increase traffic into the store. Threats One threat to SHLD is its competition with many retailers
because it is not very differentiated from its competitors and lacks brand loyalty, thus nothing is
stopping the customer from overlooking Sears and visiting a rival retailer. Another threat is a
downturn in the economy which could wreck havoc on SHLD s financial position. Porter s Five
Forces Analysis Threat of new entrants is relatively low. There are high barriers to entry in the
discount retail market, including high capital costs, limited access to investors, and a largely crowded
out market place. Threat of substitutions

Emerson s Metaphor Of Self Reliance
Through excellent metaphors, Emerson stresses that you must first trust yourself to achieve greatness
from your own genius, to realize your potential, and to be self reliant. Your inner genius, when tapped
into, allows you to build self reliance. Some people might argue that you only need to depend on
yourself. If you are totally self reliant you re going to have a narrow perspective because you can only
pull from your own life experiences or from your own family s or community s involvement.
However, I am arguing that Emerson uses strong metaphors to show that even with a belief in
individualism and self reliance, one must also trust other sources such as society and God.
You must believe in yourself first and foremost to achieve self reliance ... Show more content on

The individual must also love Him. Emerson states, Love, which is the essence of God, is not for
levity, but for the total worth of man. (1518) You cannot love God without loving yourself and vice
versa. Where there is love, there is trust. God created society; God created us; we must trust and love
all of creation. My friends have come to me unsought. The great God gave them to me, (1452) says
Emerson. A gift granted by God is worth as much love as one shows himself. I find them, or rather,
not I, but the Deity in me and in them, both deride and cancel the thick walls of individual character.
(1453) Society can become jovial and loving when the trust and love transcends the physical and
becomes part of God. When we are all in tune and play our notes, the chords sound wonderful and a

California Indian Genocide Summary
California Indian historians currently engage in proving that Genocide occurred on the California
Frontier. When historians attempt to prove the existence of a larger, seemingly indefinable concept
they often lose track of regional history in California, citing primary sources from different time
periods, all around the State. In order to better understand white native relations on the California
Frontier, it is important to first understand these relationships in specific areas of California that can
be properly researched. Rather than engaging in a semantic argument regarding Genocide s many
definitions or its existence in the State as a whole, this manuscript offers a focused study in white
native relations in Northern California s Round Valley from 1848 1860. By studying a ... Show more

In the Round Valley, Native Americans were more valuable to white settlers as living slaves than they
were as merely dead bodies. This further complicates the Genocide narrative, as many white
Californians were not seeking to exterminate Indians in the state, but enslave them. While it is true
that many white settlers formed vigilante parties and searched for Indians to kill on the Frontier, their
reasons can be traced back to retaliation for Native interference in their ranching operations
surrounding the Nome Cult Farm. These Indian killing parties were most often seeking retribution for
stolen cattle, and their actions were based in racist attitude. Indians were killed and driven off land
only when they had interfered with white rancher success in the Round Valley. In all other instances, it
was more profitable for whites to take the Indians as slaves rather than kill them. Even whites that
were not interested in holding slaves themselves saw dollar signs over the heads of Native Children,
and a large amount participated in the Indian Slave

Religious Conflict Through the Ages Essay
Religious Conflict Through the Ages
The role religion plays in world history is, at best, tremendous. Through the ages, religion has both
unified and divided civilizations often bringing extreme human casualty, in the case of division, or
creating interesting new cultures, in the case of the latter. In the Ancient civilizations such as the
Greek, Kush and Egyptian empires religion serves as a catalyst further strengthening the bond found
in such homogeneous societies. In these civilizations it is important to note that the inhabitants did not
conceive of religion in terms of a belief system in a higher moral authority, rather, the belief system
was such a part of their lifestyle that there was no differentiation. In discussing ... Show more content

However, three distinctions can be outlined in this discussion. Firstly, religion serves as a catalyst
further unifying homogeneous civilizations such as the Greek, Ku*censored*e and Egyptian societies,
secondly, religion serves as a primary focus of difference when two homogeneous societies, such as
the Muslims and the Christians involve themselves in a conflict for spiritual dominance, and, thirdly,
how religion, in some homogenous societies such as the Protestant Reformation of the late Tudor and
early Stuart dynasties in England, serves to divide the people. Religious observance in ancient
civilizations serves to further bridge the connectedness that the people of those societies felt. In the
ancient Greek, Ku*censored*e and and Egyptian cultures religion was such a integral part of their
lifestyle that it was totally indistinguishable in terms of contemporary classifications. The ancient
Greeks held close to a common polytheistic belief system and operated the government, domestic
lifestyle, and recreation from this system. The evidence is abounds in that the Olympic Games were
held at the feast of Zeus at Olympia in Elis, and the Pythian Games were held at Delphi, in honor of
Apollo. Although the Greeks were advanced in the governmental procedures such as their creation of
the republic, Kings such as

Description and Imagery in The Foghorn and The Signalman
For this assignment I will be looking at two short narratives. One was written by Bradbury, in the mid
twentieth century , The Foghorn and the other was written by Dickens, The Signalman over one
hundred years before. Both are based on supernatural themes and ideas.
It is obvious that Dickens tale was written in the mid nineteenth century because his style of writing is
very different to the more modern techniques writers employ today. In his story he tells us about
objects which no longer have a place in modern society ,such as the telegraph and the steam train .
Therefore it was necessary to look more closely at Dickens script to identify how he creates a ... Show

The narrator is obviously posed the same question and comments: There was something remarkable
about his manner .
The narrator wonders why the Signalman does not answer. So, right from the beginning the audience
has the perception that the Signalman is slightly mysterious and strange.
The opening to The Fog Horn is quite similar. From the outset the light house in the story is
established as a desolated, mysterious place, cold, dark and dismal, as described when the narrator
says :
Out there in the cold water we waited every night for the coming of the fog .
This immediately creates a cold dark atmosphere and prepares the reader for what is come. Straight
away McDunn and the narrator are established as two isolated people, as described when the narrator
says :
Feeling like two birds in the grey sky, McDunn and I sent the light ,
Also when McDunn says: It s a lonely life .
All of this imagery and description creates a powerful impression of how bleak and lonely the
lighthouse is.
The narrator in The Signalman is a mysterious man, like the signal man himself. He does not give a lot
of information about himself, not even his name. He says that he is staying in a inn:
I am currently staying in a small inn in the village near by

Carrageenan is Derived from Seaweed
INTRODUCTION TO CARRAGEENAN
The carrageenan is from family of linear sulphate polysaccharides which is derived from seaweed
(Falshaw et al., 2001). Carrageenan is a general name for polysaccharides extracted from certain kinds
of red algae, a seaweed where is abound in coast of North America and Europe which are built up, in
contrast to agar, from D galactopyranose units. The name Carrageenan is derived from the Chondrus
crispus species of seaweed known as Carrageen Moss or Irish Moss in England, and Carraigin in
Ireland. Carraigin has been used in Ireland since 400 AD as a gelatin and as a home remedy to cure
coughs and colds. 1(a) 1(b)

How Theu.s Dollar Became The World s Most Dominant Reserve...
The objective of this paper is to give a clearer picture to how the U.S dollar became the world s most
dominant reserve currency . Several countries use it as their official currency, and many others use it
as the de facto currency . Moreover, American dollar is the primary reserve currency, which is used as
the standard unit in international market for commodities such as gold and petroleum. However, the
dollar has been declining over the last three decades; in fact it has lost almost half its value against
other major currencies. The purpose of this research is to bring clarity for the following questions:
How, when and why the dollar became the world s reserve currency? Benefits of having the largest
world reserve currency? Comparing the dollar with the pound and the up and rising Chinese Renminbi
(RMB), and predictions for the future.
Keywords: Currency fluctuation; Reserve Currency; International Market; Global Reach
I. Introduction
We use the term reserve currency when we mean other countries use of dollars in international trade.
If Sweden, for example, buys goods from China, the goods can be paid with American dollars instead
of Swedish Krona. The methodological approach to address how, when and why the dollar became the
world s reserve currency will be supported by a historical and statistical analysis. With a better
understanding on how the U.S dollar become the most powerful currency we can advance to
understand the cost and benefits of it.

Greek Gods And Their Influence On Greek Religion And Culture
Leuzinger 1
The Greek Gods
Throughout history it is easy to see that religion has a big deal to do with culture, but what if religion
played such a big part in our society that we were constantly afraid of being zapped by lightning, or
losing the entire sun? From the beginning of written history gods have dictated the ideas of peoples
and cultures, shaping the majority of our world as we know it today. Such effects can be seen even in
our federal law system in America. For example the Ten Commandments had a lot to do with the
writing of the constitution. The Greeks were no exception to this. If anything the gods influenced the
Greeks more than most cultures. The Greeks entire civilization was centered around the gods they
worshipped. Part of the reason for the Greeks fascination with supernatural beings was because of the
powers they believed they possessed. This power possessed by the gods made the Greeks fear them
greatly. This fear then turned into worship and devotion that shaped their entire culture. ... Show more

Olympus, keeping all the other gods in check along with regulating the humans below. Because of his
power and prestige, Zeus was the most worshiped god. Along side of him were many other gods who
received worship mainly depending on the humans need. If a fisherman wanted a particularly

Summary Of Las Mariposas
The Mirabal sisters were instrumental in the toppling of Rafael Trujillo s regime in the Dominican
Republic. Julia Alvarez uses Las Mariposas to exhibit different ways in which people can become
politicized in times of revolution. She uses these women for several reasons: they are well known, and
while they all had the same up bringing they all hold different values. The Mirabal sisters became
politicized in different ways and for different reasons. Minerva became a revolutionary when she saw
that her country was unjust. Mate became a revolutionary when she see s that love is not alienated in
the rebellion and that her help is needed. Patria became a revolutionary when her faith was rekindled
and her faith becomes apart of the revolution.
Minerva, the first sister to become politicized, does so when she meets someone whose life has been
directly, and negatively, influenced by Trujillo in a horrible manner. When Minerva goes to
Immaculada Concepcion she meets a young girl named Sinita who tells her about what Trujillo has
done to her family. One of her family members spoke out against the dictator and for that reason he
and the rest of the men in the family were killed. When Minerva hears this she stands up for Trujillo
and Sinita responds by saying Don t you get it? Minerva, don t you see? Trujillo is having everyone
killed! (19). This statement by her friend opens Minerva s eyes. She had not realized how awful
people were being affected by him. He was having people killed so that he could have power, and
nobody knew about it. This opening of her eyes is how she was politicized. She was aware of the
atrocities and wanted to help free herself and her country from someone she viewed as the devil
himself. Minerva is politicized when someone she cares for is deeply affected by the harsh nature of
the regime.
Minerva is politicized because her picture of justice was shattered. Minerva had always wanted to be a
lawyer and therefore had very strong feelings about justice and what is wrong or right. When she saw
that the man she had always assumed was flawless had flaws, and huge ones at that she would have
wanted to do something about it. Minerva says it best when she says And that s how I got free. I don t

Nursing is considered to be one of the most respected professions today. The theory of nursing has
existed for centuries, as family members cared for sick loved ones. However, it was not until the 19th
century that nursing as a profession began to develop. It was during this time that Florence
Nightingale made her significant contributions to nursing. Among other things, Nightingale helped
society recognize nursing as a respectable occupation, established modern nursing education, and
helped institute standards of nursing care (Taylor 7). Nursing is a very broad discipline, and nurses

auction. Once we arrived at the auction, we brought the bunnies over to the people who tagged their
cages and brought them out to the barn to be stacked up next to other cages. The other cages were
filled with exotic birds and some other rabbits. In some of the pens inside the auction barn, they had
pigs, goats, sheep, and emus. The outside pens had a variety of cow breeds like the shaggy highlanders
and brahmas. There were also horses, ponies, alpacas, buffalo, and llamas. We alway arrive early, so
people are still coming in with animals they would be auctioning off that day. My Mom and I went
into the auction barn to see if they had anything interesting out there that we might like to acquire. As
we walked through the barn, we saw some golden pheasants and some peacocks, so my mom wrote
their tag numbers down on her mini notebook that she brought along with her. We also checked out
the rabbits that other people had brought to see if there were any that we were interested in.

SAT by Danielle Ofri
In a life of poverty, illnesses surround its inhabitant. From poor nutrition to unfit living conditions
come afflictions that range from a cough to polio. And as a society we preoccupy ourselves with the
short comings of poverty. Creating a revolving door at hospitals treating the poor for their present
illnesses, but paying no mind in preventing them for the future. In SAT, Ofri describes her experience
as a doctor treating an impoverished unambitious young man, Nemesio Rios. Instead of just following

As Ofri viewed it, taking the SAT s was the best thing she could recommend for Rios long term health.

Analysis Of Princess Mononoke And The Classic...
Throughout the progression of civilization, technological advancements have always occurred at the
expense of altering and harming the environment; so much so that one of the five types of conflict
highlighted in literary writing is human vs. nature. One such story that addresses this conflict is
Princess Mononoke by Japanese storyteller Hiyao Miyazaki. Although appearing to be a simple
animated children s tale of a boy thrown into a fight between spiritual beings and the human
civilization that threatens to encroach upon their territory, Miyazaki delves into an utterly complex
commentary on the consequences technological advancements have on its surroundings. Unlike other
more mainstream examples from film such as Disney s Pocahontas, James Cameron s Avatar, and the
classic Soylent Green, however, Miyazaki chooses not to take a side as he highlights the benevolence
of the people that are destroying nature, while forcing the viewer to sympathize with the nature spirits
plight simultaneously. Refraining from dealing in absolutes, Princess Mononoke s subject matter
develops more nuanced critiques that allow the viewer to craft their own opinions. While Miyazaki
chooses not to reach any concrete resolution on how to fix the problems that may arise, he offers a
legitimate warning that balance is crucial beyond measure; a balance unattained, even after nearly two
decades have passed since the film s release. To reach a consensus on resolutions to the ongoing crises

The Meaning Of The Ugly Duckling
Once upon a time on an old farm, there lived a family of ducks. The Mother Duck was giving birth to
five beautiful ducklings. However, there was a sixth duck, which was very ugly. This Ugly Duckling
cannot be mine, thought the Mother Duck. The Ugly Duckling did not have any friends when he was
growing up. Whenever he tried to make friends, they would tell him to get away from him, including
his brothers and sisters. The Ugly Duckling would always end up going home, crying to his mother.
How come no one wants to play with me? They always say I am ugly and tell me to get lost, cried the
Ugly Duckling.
Oh poor thing, the Mother Duck would say, trying to console him. He would secretly cry at night,
hating his life. One day, he saw a Beautiful Duckling and he went toward her to talk. The Ugly
Duckling thought that maybe they could be friends. Um... Hello there. I am... stuttered the Ugly
Duckling, sounding anxious. EW! How are you so ugly? Get away from me, you re going to make me
barf! yelled the Beautiful Duckling. This made the Ugly Duckling very sad, which led to him running
away. He thought this was a good idea since no one likes him anyway, so they won t miss him. The
Ugly Duckling packed all of his stuff and snuck out at night without anyone knowing. I should ask
people if they have seen any other ducks like me! Maybe I can find where I belong that way, thought
the Ugly Duckling, and went out on a venture to find people like him. Excuse me, said the Ugly

Disadvantages Of Automobiles
Introduction
Ever since mankind was born, the most common activity that any human would perform everyday; is
travelling. Whether it was travelling a very short distance ranging from 1 meter to miles and miles,
mankind would travel in order to acquire the elements needed for survival. For short travelling
distances mankind would walk; in the earlier days human beings walked longer distances. For longer
distances humans would ride on the back of animals to get them to their destination. Now a days,
human beings walk shorter distances in average. And instead of the difficult rides on the back of an
animal, they ride inside a cool machine that would withstand almost any weather condition to get them
to even farther destinations. The machine is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Automobiles improved our life a lot because now we can visit our relatives and friends easily without
making any effort. Before automobiles, people used to travel for about 3 months walking to reach
other country under the sun with camels which now can be reached in 12 hours only with an
automobile with cold air conditioner. This is a huge improvement in transportation which will increase
the amount of people who will travel by automobiles. The automobile has affected the world more
than any other invention of its time. It must adapt to whatever is going on in the world at the time and
keep up with future innovations. Each year, cars are becoming quicker, more luxurious, and more
environmentally safe. It is predicted that there will be a billion cars on the road by 2025 [2]. The
invention of the automobile opened up doors to new inventions. It allowed for people to worry less
about making it to dinner on time, and worry more about the actual dinner. People can travel faster in
automobiles and feel more comfortable at the same time. They will continue to influence every part of
economy. Without automobiles, life as we know it would not be the same, and the changes that they

Self-Awaking And Identity In The Generation Of The Baby...
The self is an identity that is formed through an individual s experiences and exploration throughout
the course of their life; it is ever changing. In an individual s discovery of their self , self esteem, one s
confidence in their abilities as an individual or self can impact their level of happiness. As a result, an
individual s self esteem in terms of performance, behavior, and body image can weaken or strengthen
their emotional stability.
There is a lot of pressure to be that self , not only in present day, but also in the past, before the Baby
Boomer era. Many people try to find themselves without knowing what a self is. A self as explained
by Twenge, in the generation of the Baby Boom, is one s journey of learning and getting to know who
you truly are and is a new concept that arose when social structures began to loosen and people started
to make more choices for themselves....an autonomous, free person (Twenge 488 4899). Twenge s
word choice such as, loosen and free creates a sense of awaking and freedom in the term self . A
person is breaking out of an idealized image and becoming the self . However, Twenge s argument
that it has become a new concept fairly recently, is debatable. Self is an identity and it is not
something that just popped up recently. People still struggle to find and express themselves, the only
thing that has changed, are the societal norms and people s decision to speak up about their true self .

Nanosolar Is A Developer Of Solar Power Technology Founded
Nanosolar is a developer of solar power technology founded in 2002 by Martin Roscheisen and Brian
Sager. Nanosolar focuses on thin film panels as they serve as a cheaper alternative due to the fewer
amount of raw material they use, which in turn makes them lighter weight and therefore easier to
transport (Nanosolar, 2). Although thin film panels are cheaper, they are less efficient and this
becomes another matter to address in addition to where Nanosolar will go to market. With this,
Nanosolar would need to go to market in countries that provide financial support and have demand for
solar energy; thus, I recommend that Nanosolar go to market in Europe.

Government incentives and policy factors serve as significant motivation for market entry especially
in high cost, highly competitive markets such as solar energy. Therefore, Nanosolar must take the
types of incentives and the differences between them into consideration to ensure that they enter the
best market. Government incentives are important because they not only provide reasons for
consumers to switch over to solar energy from other less sustainable forms of electricity, but also
attract solar power companies such as Nanosolar to enter the industry and provide those services. With
this, Nanosolar is aware that European markets are highly profitable, especially in countries like
Germany that enacted renewable energy laws that provide feed in tariffs that required utilities to buy
solar electricity at a fixed price which allowed all key players to make enough profit , in addition to
France whom implemented tax credits and subsidies to entice citizens to shift to solar electricity, and
Italy whom offered bonuses to schools and public health facilities that moved to solar electricity
(Nanosolar, 10). Lastly, Nanosolar s existing relations with European power suppliers and the
assembly plant in Germany make Europe a more attractive industry because they can be more price
competitive in Europe as a result (Nanosolar, 12).

What Are The Struggles Of The Older Generation
Words and stories can connect generations through understanding of the struggles of the opposite
generation, and they can resolve conflicts between people. In Thank You M am by Langston Hughes,
a teenage boy attempts to steal the purse of an elderly woman by the name of Mrs. Jones. He is
unsuccessful, and Mrs. Jones takes the boy home where they have a conversation, although Mrs. Jones
does most of the talking. Eventually, the Mrs. Jones reveals to the boy that she too once resorted to
less than honest measures to get something she wanted, creating a connection between her and the boy
that allowed her to instill in him a sense of honor and respect, as the text says, The woman did not

Also, those of older generations have lived much longer than younger generations, and have
experienced much more, so they have gathered an ample amount of wisdom and valuable life lessons
they can share with the younger generation. This is evident in Thank You M am when Mrs. Jones
teaches the thief that she once resorted to crime as well, but that there is always a better option,
helping him to turn away from crime to accomplish his goals. It can be hard for different generations
to communicate because of differing perspectives caused by drastically different cultures and ways of
life between generations. For example, my father is very stubborn and retains many beliefs about how
a family should be run based on how he was raised, which makes it very hard to negotiate and
communicate with him about the issues of my generation. Another example of this is Mr. Brown in
Cub Pilot on the Mississippi. He doesn t communicate very well with those of a different generation,
treats them poorly, and hardly listens to them at all, as evidenced by his treatment of Mr. Twain

Internal Conflict In Short Stories
Every day, people face conflicts. Whether the conflict is caused by an outside force or something
going on in the person s own mind. The conflicts that are caused by outside forces are called external
conflicts. Some examples of this are man against man, man against nature, and man against society.
While on the other hand, internal conflict is when the narrator of the story is going against himself.
Many times when the narrator faces internal conflict it is because of something that they are needing
to do or something that they are being forced to do even if it goes against every value they believe in.
When they are forced to do something that they do not believe in, this will force the individual to
think about what they are about to do. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Does Sheila Birling Change Throughout The Play
In this essay I will be comparing Sheila Birling and Lady Macbeth at the beginning, middle and at the
end of the two plays and how much power they have and how their power changes throughout the
play.
At the beginning of the play `An Inspector Calls , Sheila Birling is presented as a typical Edwardian
girl with very little power and gains more power throughout the play. Whereas in the play `Macbeth ,
Lady Macbeth have more power over her husband and as the play continues she becomes more typical
with not much power.

At the middle of the play Sheila has gained more power. For example in act 2 when Sheila tells her
mother of by saying that impertinent is such a silly word and Mrs Birling replies in any case Sheila
says, But, mother, do stop before it s too late. The word `stop tell us that she is now in more power and
she is telling her mother to stop talking to the inspector like this. This links with the play as Edwardian
woman are supposed to be non violent. Also she says, you wait mother. By using the word `you she is
commanding her mother and now she is making her own decision. Before Sheila never talked to her
mother like this, this shows that Sheila has gained more power and can now stand out for herself and
decide what is right for her. On the other hand, Lady Macbeth is gradually losing her power. For
example in act 3 scene 2 she ask Macbeth What s to be done, Macbeth replies Be innocent of the
knowledge. The word `innocent suggest that Macbeth is not involving Lady Macbeth in his plans and
telling her to act more innocent.. This shows that she has lost power because now Macbeth is in
control and he is making the important decision. Also, in act 3 scene 2 Lady Macbeth speaks to
Macbeth and says, you must leave this, and Macbeth replies O, full of scorpion is my mind, dear wife
The word `scorpion suggest that his mind is now full of evilness. This tells us that Macbeth has
stopped listening to his dear wife and he is now answering back. We can clearly see that she has lost
power over her husband. This links with the play as Jacobean men made important

They appeal to the women, and actually addresses them as being the target audience. We begin the
commercial with the Mustafa directing his questions strictly towards the women. The women then
become the interconnected audience watching the commercial. Women are then more likely to
purchase the body wash or encourage their significant other in their life to purchase the product. As
the Old Spice Company successfully sells their product to the women, they are selling the product to
wives, sisters, aunts, and even grandmothers. Usually when some commercials are addressed towards
women, they typically do not grab the attention of men thus causing men to not buy the product.
However, not only does this body wash appeal to the women who want their significant other to be
like Mustafa but also towards the men who want to smell more masculine like Mustafa. The product is
still made for men, so men are still likely to be encouraged and influenced by the commercial to smell
like Mustafa so Old Spice does appeal to both female and male audiences. But trying appeal to such a
wide audience can give a company quite the advantage in the marketing business. For example, not
only is Old Spice trying to sell their productions, they are also trying to get the men and woman to

Brazil and Mexico are two emerging markets that are becoming increasingly prevalent and influential

It has a comprehensive legal structure dividing powers among the federal, state and municipal levels.
However, its rigid and complex regulatory laws pose significant barriers for start up businesses. In
Brazil, the average time needed to start a business is 120 days, compared to a regional average of 56.7
days. Furthermore, it takes an average of 14 days to register property in Brazil, while the regional
average is 6.8 days. This means that on average, starting a business and registering property in Brazil
takes twice as long as it would in other Latin American and Caribbean states (Datamonitor, 2011a).
Brazil s implementation of the VAT tax system also has its flaws; the latest Latin Tax Index designated
it the worst tax regime in Latin America (Datamonitor, 2011a).

Brazil is a highly diverse and multicultural nation, consisting mostly of Native Americans, Portuguese,

migrated into the South American nation, which resulted in a multicultural and multi ethnic society
(Culture of Brazil, 2012). Because Brazil was originally a Portuguese colony for nearly three
centuries, many aspects of Brazilian culture is derived from Portuguese culture. The Portuguese
language and architectural style are examples of things that indicate a strong Portuguese influence
(Culture of Brazil, 2012).
Portuguese is spoken by nearly 99%

Conspiracy theories are designed to make sense even though they are entirely false. They also get out
of control when they get a huge following of people that haven t put time into research to tell if the
theory is valid or not. When ridiculous conspiracy theories come up, they can be easily debunked. I

presenting facts that make these theories not possible.
The first theory is the Moon Landing conspiracy theory. This theory goes back to the Apollo 11 moon

Space Race . Some proof they claim to have is when the astronauts are putting up the American flag it
waves, there is no wind on the moon . The flag is held up by a horizontal bar and simply moves when
it is unfurled and as the pole is being fixed into position by the astronauts the pole continues to vibrate
after the astronauts let go. This gives the impression of blowing wind on the moon.

area into a state of JAWS like panic. It is said that this panicked state led to this conspiracy theory.
According to www.discovermagazine.com, one Sharm el Sheikh diver named Captain Mustfa Ismail
believes that the sharks were trained to attack Egyptians by the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad.
After that a shark was discovered with a gps implanted in its back and the theory took flight. When
asked by the anchor how sharks entered Sharm El Sheikh waters, he burst out no, it s who let them in?
. When Egypt Today asked the region s governor, General Abdel Fadeel Shosha, what he thought of
the theory, he said he couldn t rule it

The History Of Dmd Stemmed From The Progressive Muscular...
The coexistence of the uncommon disease known as Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy or DMD, has
come to the attention of many and has manifested within this document to generalize the history,
impact, and significance of the disease. The history of DMD stemmed from the progressive muscular
dystrophy of two 10 year old boys names Conte and Gonji in 1836. Since this becoming the first
historical account of such a disease, many doctors and specialists speculated a more catastrophic form
of tuberculosis; when revisited by scientists it was concluded that they suffered from the milder
Becker MD. In 1852, Meryon reported in striking points of interest a family with four young men,
every one of whom were influenced by huge muscle changes, however had no ... Show more content

As shown in Figure 1, this presents the most common scenario that is passed down to children since
most people with the disease do not have a long enough life expectancy, and most females who get
both affected X chromosomes by a carrier mother and affected father is very unlikely. The chart
explains how the males who receive the disease get it from a carrier mother who is unaffected by the
disease as the one affected X chromosome is masked by unaffected X chromosome; a task that the Y
chromosome cannot achieve, thus making the male population inclined to receive it more likely than
females. Figure 1 illustrates a more detailed Punnett Square depicts the common scenario. Duchenne
Muscular Dystrophy is caused by a mutation of the dystrophin gene at locus Xp21, located on the
short arm of the X chromosome. The DMD disease occurs primarily from frameshift mutations in the
dystrophin gene. Just short of 70% of cases of DMD occur from deletion of the dystrophin gene, 10%
of cases occur from the harmful addition of the gene. The remaining cases (that have medically been
recorded), have occurred because of disastrous point mutations that change in the DNA sequence.
Dystrophin is a pole molded cytoplasmic protein and an indispensable part of a protein complex that
associates the cytoskeleton of a muscle fiber to the encompassing extracellular grid through

Research Paper On Scenario Planning
1. Skill Acquired: Scenario Planning
Scenario planning is the core and most important skills during the scenario exercise. This is among the
skill that I have newly founded and practiced. In short, scenario planning is a skill to not predict the
future, instead it is a skill to determine multiple possible futures that might happen considering the
different plausible outcomes of current actions.
2. The Learning Process
2.1. The Challenges
In order to execute a proper scenario planning, certain steps are needed to be followed. Skipping any
steps will result in improper scenario planning and future end states. Each steps also need to be fully

In fact, the use and value of scenario planning can be implemented at any levels in the organisations
and can be specific to determine the possible futures of certain areas.
Nowadays, any business is consider a Technology business where the organisations rely on their
Information Technology (IT) platform to run the business. Contrariwise, most Chief Executive Officer
(CEO) and Board of Directors of an organisation still does not have or lack of IT background.
Explaining the need of latest systems or security software doesn t translate into profit for them.
Scenario planning will help the Technology Risk Managers in presenting the worst possible future
states if the systems is not updated with the latest security patch which will imposed lose to the
organisation.
Since IT industry is a fast emerging industry, any lack of security and protection can cause the
organisation to lose in opportunity and revenues which we called zero day vulnerabilities. The practice
of scenario planning in an organisation for their IT counterpart, will help in identifying the situations
which might imposed risks to the organisation either in IT areas or other non IT areas. A well

  • 2. Life Is Beautiful And The Novel `` Survival `` Auschwitz `` Throughout the movie Life is Beautiful and the novel Survival in Auschwitz are showing the harsh times of the Holocaust. The Holocaust affected millions of people for the rest of their lives. Both Primo Levi (the main character in Survival of Auschwitz) and Guido (the main character in Life is Beautiful) suffered through the dehumanization process, working long harsh hours, but the effects of the dehumanization differ through each main character. Primo and Guido are of the Italian descent and speak Italian. In the concentration camps, many different languages were spoken among the prisoners, resulting in many not being able to communicate with one another. The incapacity to communicate took away the beauty in language with the vague guessing of what another person was trying to say. As Primo states, I understand that they are ordering me to be quiet, but the word is new to me, and since I do not know its meaning and implications, my inquietude increases. The confusion of languages is a fundamental component of the manner of living here...(Survival of Auschwitz, 25) . This demonstrates that the language barrier forced on prisoners only further dehumanizes them. Similarly, in the scene of Life is Beautiful, The guards asks for a translator to translate what he is saying to the prisoners. Guido volunteers even though he does not know how to speak any German. (Life is Beautiful) The reason behind this is to strengthen his humanity again by being someone important to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Utopia in Gulliver Travels and Paradise Lost Essay The Inconceivable Utopia in Gulliver Travels and Paradise Lost In Jonathon Swift s Gulliver Travels and in John Milton s Paradise Lost, the reader is presented with two lands representing utopias. For Swift this land is an island inhabited by horse like creatures called Houyhnhnms who rule over man like beasts called Yahoos. For Milton, the Garden of Eden before the Fall of man represents Paradise. In it, Adam and Eve are pure and innocent, untested and faithful to God. The American Heritage Dictionary defines utopia as an ideally perfect place, especially in its social, political, and moral aspects. And while Houyhnhnm Land and the Garden of Eden may seem like ideally perfect places, they are not. Indeed, they contradict our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The prospect of utopia, that is, an unchanging static society, has little appeal compared to the prospect of trying to reach such an exalted existence. And it s this idea of progress that we often associate with the idea of utopia. Appealing as it may seem, an utopia is a double edged sword. It is both the end result of our desires and an end to those desires. Because ending our desire goes against our human nature, the notion of utopia can no longer exist to the human mind. Therefore, neither the Garden of Eden nor the island of the Houyhnhnms is an utopia because both societies are unchanging. In them, both progress and desire is forbidden. In Book IV of Gulliver s Travels, Gulliver s ship is mutinied and he is forced into exile to a strange island. On this island he first encounters a rare breed of animal. He describes them, Their heads and breasts were covered with a thick hair, some frizzled and others lank; they had beards like goats, and a long ridge of hair down their backs (2403). These creatures are Yahoos, an inferior species that s very human in nature and in physical form. Next Gulliver meets the Houyhnhmns, rational horses who rule over the human like Yahoos. These two types of creatures symbolize both extremes of human nature, that of reason and emotion. The Yahoos are described as detestable beings driven by passion and emotion while the Houyhnhmns are reveled by Gulliver because of their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Symbolism In Slaughterhouse-Five In the novel Slaughterhouse Five the author, Kurt Vonnegut, discusses some issues in society that he believes should be different. The issues that I will be writing about in this essay are; the glorification of war and war heroes , and the inevitability of war. He expresses his criticism on these topics using a number of literary techniques, which include; metaphors and imagery. When writing about war in Slaughterhouse Five , Vonnegut tries to show the reality of war and the people who fight in them in order to put a stop to the glorification of war and how the public views its soldiers. He uses a metaphor to show a reality to who the soldiers are and how society tries to mask that when he writes (as Mary O Hare) You were just babies in the war like the ones upstairs! (...) This scene, that makes Billy go back to a time before the war, implies that to prevent the war from ever happening, you would have to travel to the beginning of time, back to the times of Adam and Eve. Denardo comments that everyone from Gautier to Gaga paid homage and acknowledges as being inspirational to them. Denardo, in the Fashion Spot, marking the occasion of David Bowie s birthday at 68 comment that for over four decades, Bowie, the cultural chameleon has been crafting his immortality from a medley of fantastical Avant guard guises (2015). She reflected on his transformations from Ziggy Stardust to a hedonistic astronaut Major Tom to the cocaine using White Duke. David Bowie s theatricality on stage has been influenced by Brecht s philosophy around performance. Berthold Brecht was a famous German poet, playwright and theatre director most well known for his use of alienation techniques with his plays (Buckley, 2013). Alienation, distancing the audience from immersing themselves the characters opposed to naturalism Brecht wanted to make the audience critical and aware of what was happening. Brecht mostly used music, songs and gestures to convey meaning in his plays (Buckley, 2013). By doing this he was able encourage the audience to create their own perception of what was occurring. Bowie incorporates this technique within his songs and performances. He feels that it is important for his audience to have their own association of what I am writing about (Hale, 2015) ... After doing so, we recommend implementing a centralized management structure and recruiting retail savvy executives for the upper management team. We then recommend focusing on increasing value by capitalizing on SHLD s real estate holdings through leasing agreements and increasing partnerships with complementary enterprises. Also, we recommend improving employee retention rates and retaining exclusive rights to private brands. Finally, we recommend focusing on a long term strategy to continue to maximize SHLD s ecommerce platforms. Finally, Sears Holdings quick ratio is .20, which indicates potential for a liquidity crunch because its liquid assets cannot pay off its current liabilities in a crisis. Opportunities One of the opportunities for SHDL to explore is to expand in to other nations, particularly emerging markets. Another opportunity is to expand is to accelerate the growth of SHLD s ecommerce programs, which only represents 3% of its revenues, especially as the industry is slowly shifting from brick and mortar to brick and click format. Lastly, SHLD has an opportunity to lease floor space out to companies who can increase traffic into the store. Threats One threat to SHLD is its competition with many retailers because it is not very differentiated from its competitors and lacks brand loyalty, thus nothing is stopping the customer from overlooking Sears and visiting a rival retailer. Another threat is a downturn in the economy which could wreck havoc on SHLD s financial position. Porter s Five Forces Analysis Threat of new entrants is relatively low. There are high barriers to entry in the discount retail market, including high capital costs, limited access to investors, and a largely crowded out market place. Threat of substitutions ... • 7. Emerson s Metaphor Of Self Reliance Through excellent metaphors, Emerson stresses that you must first trust yourself to achieve greatness from your own genius, to realize your potential, and to be self reliant. Your inner genius, when tapped into, allows you to build self reliance. Some people might argue that you only need to depend on yourself. If you are totally self reliant you re going to have a narrow perspective because you can only pull from your own life experiences or from your own family s or community s involvement. However, I am arguing that Emerson uses strong metaphors to show that even with a belief in individualism and self reliance, one must also trust other sources such as society and God. The great God gave them to me, (1452) says Emerson. A gift granted by God is worth as much love as one shows himself. I find them, or rather, not I, but the Deity in me and in them, both deride and cancel the thick walls of individual character. When historians attempt to prove the existence of a larger, seemingly indefinable concept they often lose track of regional history in California, citing primary sources from different time periods, all around the State. In order to better understand white native relations on the California Frontier, it is important to first understand these relationships in specific areas of California that can be properly researched. Rather than engaging in a semantic argument regarding Genocide s many definitions or its existence in the State as a whole, this manuscript offers a focused study in white native relations in Northern California s Round Valley from 1848 1860. By studying a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Round Valley, Native Americans were more valuable to white settlers as living slaves than they were as merely dead bodies. This further complicates the Genocide narrative, as many white Californians were not seeking to exterminate Indians in the state, but enslave them. While it is true that many white settlers formed vigilante parties and searched for Indians to kill on the Frontier, their reasons can be traced back to retaliation for Native interference in their ranching operations surrounding the Nome Cult Farm. These Indian killing parties were most often seeking retribution for stolen cattle, and their actions were based in racist attitude. Indians were killed and driven off land only when they had interfered with white rancher success in the Round Valley. In all other instances, it was more profitable for whites to take the Indians as slaves rather than kill them. Even whites that were not interested in holding slaves themselves saw dollar signs over the heads of Native Children, and a large amount participated in the Indian Slave ... Through the ages, religion has both unified and divided civilizations often bringing extreme human casualty, in the case of division, or creating interesting new cultures, in the case of the latter. In the Ancient civilizations such as the Greek, Kush and Egyptian empires religion serves as a catalyst further strengthening the bond found in such homogeneous societies. Religious observance in ancient civilizations serves to further bridge the connectedness that the people of those societies felt. One was written by Bradbury, in the mid twentieth century , The Foghorn and the other was written by Dickens, The Signalman over one hundred years before. Both are based on supernatural themes and ideas. It is obvious that Dickens tale was written in the mid nineteenth century because his style of writing is very different to the more modern techniques writers employ today. From the outset the light house in the story is established as a desolated, mysterious place, cold, dark and dismal, as described when the narrator says : Out there in the cold water we waited every night for the coming of the fog . This immediately creates a cold dark atmosphere and prepares the reader for what is come. Straight away McDunn and the narrator are established as two isolated people, as described when the narrator says : Feeling like two birds in the grey sky, McDunn and I sent the light , Also when McDunn says: It s a lonely life . The objective of this paper is to give a clearer picture to how the U.S dollar became the world s most dominant reserve currency . Several countries use it as their official currency, and many others use it as the de facto currency . Moreover, American dollar is the primary reserve currency, which is used as the standard unit in international market for commodities such as gold and petroleum. However, the dollar has been declining over the last three decades; in fact it has lost almost half its value against other major currencies. The purpose of this research is to bring clarity for the following questions: How, when and why the dollar became the world s reserve currency? Benefits of having the largest world reserve currency? Comparing the dollar with the pound and the up and rising Chinese Renminbi (RMB), and predictions for the future. Keywords: Currency fluctuation; Reserve Currency; International Market; Global Reach I. • 16. Greek Gods And Their Influence On Greek Religion And Culture Leuzinger 1 The Greek Gods Throughout history it is easy to see that religion has a big deal to do with culture, but what if religion played such a big part in our society that we were constantly afraid of being zapped by lightning, or losing the entire sun? From the beginning of written history gods have dictated the ideas of peoples and cultures, shaping the majority of our world as we know it today. Such effects can be seen even in our federal law system in America. For example the Ten Commandments had a lot to do with the writing of the constitution. The Greeks were no exception to this. If anything the gods influenced the Greeks more than most cultures. The Greeks entire civilization was centered around the gods they worshipped. Part of the reason for the Greeks fascination with supernatural beings was because of the powers they believed they possessed. This power possessed by the gods made the Greeks fear them greatly. This fear then turned into worship and devotion that shaped their entire culture. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Julia Alvarez uses Las Mariposas to exhibit different ways in which people can become politicized in times of revolution. She uses these women for several reasons: they are well known, and while they all had the same up bringing they all hold different values. The Mirabal sisters became politicized in different ways and for different reasons. Minerva became a revolutionary when she saw that her country was unjust. Mate became a revolutionary when she see s that love is not alienated in the rebellion and that her help is needed. Patria became a revolutionary when her faith was rekindled and her faith becomes apart of the revolution. Minerva, the first sister to become politicized, does so when she meets someone whose life has been directly, and negatively, influenced by Trujillo in a horrible manner. When Minerva goes to Immaculada Concepcion she meets a young girl named Sinita who tells her about what Trujillo has done to her family. One of her family members spoke out against the dictator and for that reason he and the rest of the men in the family were killed. When Minerva hears this she stands up for Trujillo and Sinita responds by saying Don t you get it? Minerva, don t you see? Trujillo is having everyone killed! (19). This statement by her friend opens Minerva s eyes. She had not realized how awful people were being affected by him. He was having people killed so that he could have power, and nobody knew about it. This opening of her eyes is how she was politicized. She was aware of the atrocities and wanted to help free herself and her country from someone she viewed as the devil himself. Minerva is politicized when someone she cares for is deeply affected by the harsh nature of the regime. Minerva is politicized because her picture of justice was shattered. Minerva had always wanted to be a lawyer and therefore had very strong feelings about justice and what is wrong or right. Throughout the progression of civilization, technological advancements have always occurred at the expense of altering and harming the environment; so much so that one of the five types of conflict highlighted in literary writing is human vs. nature. One such story that addresses this conflict is Princess Mononoke by Japanese storyteller Hiyao Miyazaki. Although appearing to be a simple animated children s tale of a boy thrown into a fight between spiritual beings and the human civilization that threatens to encroach upon their territory, Miyazaki delves into an utterly complex commentary on the consequences technological advancements have on its surroundings. Unlike other more mainstream examples from film such as Disney s Pocahontas, James Cameron s Avatar, and the classic Soylent Green, however, Miyazaki chooses not to take a side as he highlights the benevolence of the people that are destroying nature, while forcing the viewer to sympathize with the nature spirits plight simultaneously. Refraining from dealing in absolutes, Princess Mononoke s subject matter develops more nuanced critiques that allow the viewer to craft their own opinions. While Miyazaki chooses not to reach any concrete resolution on how to fix the problems that may arise, he offers a legitimate warning that balance is crucial beyond measure; a balance unattained, even after nearly two decades have passed since the film s release. • 28. Self-Awaking And Identity In The Generation Of The Baby... The self is an identity that is formed through an individual s experiences and exploration throughout the course of their life; it is ever changing. In an individual s discovery of their self , self esteem, one s confidence in their abilities as an individual or self can impact their level of happiness. As a result, an individual s self esteem in terms of performance, behavior, and body image can weaken or strengthen their emotional stability. There is a lot of pressure to be that self , not only in present day, but also in the past, before the Baby Boomer era. Many people try to find themselves without knowing what a self is. A self as explained by Twenge, in the generation of the Baby Boom, is one s journey of learning and getting to know who you truly are and is a new concept that arose when social structures began to loosen and people started to make more choices for themselves....an autonomous, free person (Twenge 488 4899). Twenge s word choice such as, loosen and free creates a sense of awaking and freedom in the term self . A person is breaking out of an idealized image and becoming the self . However, Twenge s argument that it has become a new concept fairly recently, is debatable. Self is an identity and it is not something that just popped up recently. People still struggle to find and express themselves, the only thing that has changed, are the societal norms and people s decision to speak up about their true self . While trying to prove her ... Nanosolar focuses on thin film panels as they serve as a cheaper alternative due to the fewer amount of raw material they use, which in turn makes them lighter weight and therefore easier to transport (Nanosolar, 2). Although thin film panels are cheaper, they are less efficient and this becomes another matter to address in addition to where Nanosolar will go to market. With this, Nanosolar would need to go to market in countries that provide financial support and have demand for solar energy; thus, I recommend that Nanosolar go to market in Europe. Government incentives and policy factors serve as significant motivation for market entry especially in high cost, highly competitive markets such as solar energy. Therefore, Nanosolar must take the types of incentives and the differences between them into consideration to ensure that they enter the best market. Government incentives are important because they not only provide reasons for consumers to switch over to solar energy from other less sustainable forms of electricity, but also attract solar power companies such as Nanosolar to enter the industry and provide those services. With this, Nanosolar is aware that European markets are highly profitable, especially in countries like Germany that enacted renewable energy laws that provide feed in tariffs that required utilities to buy solar electricity at a fixed price which allowed all key players to make enough profit , in addition to France whom implemented tax credits and subsidies to entice citizens to shift to solar electricity, and Italy whom offered bonuses to schools and public health facilities that moved to solar electricity (Nanosolar, 10). Lastly, Nanosolar s existing relations with European power suppliers and the assembly plant in Germany make Europe a more attractive industry because they can be more price competitive in Europe as a result (Nanosolar, 12). What Are The Struggles Of The Older Generation Words and stories can connect generations through understanding of the struggles of the opposite generation, and they can resolve conflicts between people. In Thank You M am by Langston Hughes, a teenage boy attempts to steal the purse of an elderly woman by the name of Mrs. Jones. He is unsuccessful, and Mrs. Jones takes the boy home where they have a conversation, although Mrs. Jones does most of the talking. Eventually, the Mrs. Jones reveals to the boy that she too once resorted to less than honest measures to get something she wanted, creating a connection between her and the boy that allowed her to instill in him a sense of honor and respect, as the text says, The woman did not watch the boy to see if he was going to run now, nor did ... It can be hard for different generations to communicate because of differing perspectives caused by drastically different cultures and ways of life between generations. For example, my father is very stubborn and retains many beliefs about how a family should be run based on how he was raised, which makes it very hard to negotiate and communicate with him about the issues of my generation. The conflicts that are caused by outside forces are called external conflicts. Some examples of this are man against man, man against nature, and man against society. While on the other hand, internal conflict is when the narrator of the story is going against himself. Many times when the narrator faces internal conflict it is because of something that they are needing to do or something that they are being forced to do even if it goes against every value they believe in. When they are forced to do something that they do not believe in, this will force the individual to think about what they are about to do. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the beginning of the play `An Inspector Calls , Sheila Birling is presented as a typical Edwardian girl with very little power and gains more power throughout the play. Whereas in the play `Macbeth , Lady Macbeth have more power over her husband and as the play continues she becomes more typical with not much power.
