The Little Rock Nine Analysis
The Little Rock Nine was a group of nine African American students that were admitted to Central
High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, on September 4, 1957. The Supreme Court made the decision
of desegregating the schools. Carlotta Walls, Ernest Green, Thelma Mothershed, Jefferson Thomas,
Minnijean Brown, Melba Pattillo Beals, Gloria Ray Karlmark, Terrence Roberts, and Elizabeth
Eckford made history. They went through many tough situations just trying to get inside the school.
When the nine students made it inside, the struggle was then to survive with all the racist people there
to stop them from reaching their only goal. Superintendent Blossom told them that they could not have
a normal high school experience. Torture was present everyday ... Show more content on

In A Mighty Long Way it states Carlotta, we must be patient with ignorance and never, ever bring
ourselves down to their level (Walls Lanier 17). My memorial is a blue rose. The color blue represents
peace. The red rose represents love. The best way to stop hate is with peace and love. The author
mentions ... for a black child, a little too much confidence, a joke, saying or doing the wrong thing, in
the wrong place, at the wrong time, or just being the wrong color could cost him his life (Wall Lanier
40). They were very much aware of the cruelty all around them but did not become apart of the
negativity. The LIttle Rock Nine were strong and committed to learning no matter what obstacle got in
their way. I also chose a blue rose because of how caring and loving they were to each other. Carlotta
thinks about her friends as they are having a meeting in Blossom s office. She comments I wondered
how Ernie or the other guys in the room must felt (Walls Lanier 60). She thought back to Emmett Till
and compared him to Ernie. If they did something at the wrong moment nobody knew what could
happen. They all keep up with each other and made sure that people are making a good representation
of their name. In conclusion, A blue rose represents the Little Rock nine in many ways. The Little
Rock Nine are the reason that we are all able to sit in school and learn

Pressure And Stereotypes For Girls In The Fashion Industry
The Fashion Industry
Under society s norms for decades, girls have been put under the pressure and expectation to have
perfect bodies. That is, thin and curved, beautified by applying pounds of makeup to their face but not
appear ridiculously overdone. Where do these unreachable standards come from? When a young girl
hears the model on the cover of Vogue being called flawless it s easy for her to then aspire to be a real
life replica of the photoshop. These companies spit out magazine covers plastered with girls idols
daily. As if maintaining the perfect body wasn t hard enough our culture also forces girls into the
forever expanding world of makeup, however, body image is a pressing issue for girls. Ads and
posters of skinny female models are everywhere. Young girls not only could be better but need to be
better and feel forced to have the perfect physique. Girls are evaluated and oppressed by their physical
appearances. With accessories and apparel designed to enhance a look; social media, magazines, and
marketing campaigns and advertisements add to the burden of perfection. The fashion industry is a
prime target of body image issues, as they believe clothes look better on tall and slim women. Based
on a survey participated by 13 to 17 year old in the U.S., 90% felt pressured by fashion and media
industries to be skinny , with more than 60% habitually compare themselves to models, while 46%
will strive to achieve it. Furthermore, the severity of this matter continues to

Mis Paper on Movie Industry
One hotly contested and highly competitive industry is the movie rental business. You can rent videos
from local video rental stores, you can order pay per view from the comfort of your own home, and
you can rent videos from the Web at such sites as NetFlix. Using Porter s Five Forces Model, evaluate
the relative attractiveness of entering the movie rental business. Is buyer power low or high? Is
supplier power low or high? Which substitute products and services are perceived as threats? Can new
entrants easily enter the market? What are the barriers to entry? What is the level of rivalry among
existing competitors? What is your overall view of the movie rental business? Is it a good or bad

Close customer relations do exist, but not in the conventional sense; however, it exist through
customer service and online. There is no notable difference in the price for performance except the
ease of obtaining Redbox s products. Redbox s business model deals with the different pressures of
new entrants in the following ways: Competition would have to develop an enterprise of significant
size to be considered a threat. The have secured many of the prize locations for their kiosk (Wal Mart,

same level as redbox. Considering the volume of hardware, software and personnel; the initial cost to
competitors would be very high. The machines are extremely expensive plus having the software and
personnel to run them. Existing competitors, (Blockbusters) though experienced, are not prepared to
compete in a kiosk rental capacity. But they are moving in that direction Blockbuster as an example
has said it will close some of it stores and put in kiosks instead, called Blockbuster Express. The
loyalty in this industry is to the product, not the distributor. Existing competitors will have to
completely reinvent their business to compete in that Market. Most competitors strategies are out

To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell and Our Love Now by Martyn
Lowery both see men trying to use methods of persuasion to get what they want. How successful are
they?
I have recently studied To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell, written in the 17th Century and Our
Love Now by Martyn Lowery, written in the 19th century. Attitudes to love have changed a lot since
the 17th Century. When To His Coy Mistress was written, men were in charge of the relationship. It
would take a lot longer for this relationship to progress than it would today. The man would court the
woman for months before anything progressed. He would write her letters and poems, and then
eventually, if he loved her, he would ask her to marry him. They ... Show more content on

but she says There is always a scar.. implying the wound in their relationship is too deep to mend fully.
In this poem it seems like she has the final word. It is a modern poem about love.
Marvell uses different methods of persuasions. He bombards her as the poem is very long and has no
stanzas, so she has to keep reading and listening to his arguments. He has also divided the poem into
three sections. The first section is about him romancing and flattering her.
He shows his love for her by using time, place and exaggeration. Had we but world enough, and time /
This coyness, lady, were no crime. shows Marvell using time. He is telling the woman that if they had
all the time in the world her shyness would not matter. They by the
Indian Ganges side / Should st rubies find: I by the tide / Of Humber would complain. This shows
Marvell using place and distance to persuade her. He tells her that she could sit by the Indian Ganges,
and he would sit by the Humber in England and wish for her. He then goes on to say, that if she
wishes; she can keep him at arms length, and that his feelings will wait until she is ready. This makes
her feel that he is not pressuring her in to anything she does not want to do. Marvell uses a lot of
exaggeration, for example I would / Love you ten years before the flood.. He is referring to the bible,
making him seem religious and that he supports the religious beliefs of sex after marriage,

Heroin Problem
Heroins cheap and widely available status has spread to many cities throughout the United States;
these users are buying and shooting up right away, often in public. Many police officers find users
unconscious or dead in cars, restaurants, in parks, hospitals, and libraries. Not only does this add to
visibility of the drug to public eye, but leaving behind dirty needles in these public locations lead to a
health hazard. The heroin epidemic needs to be stopped immediately by understanding where the
problem starts, the effects of the drug, and educating the public about treatment, addiction, and the
problems the addiction causes on a personal level. Keeping heroin addiction under control can lead to
less overdoses and a more positive future for the youth of this county.
Most of the time, heroin addicts are addicted to another form of prescription opioid, which makes this
the root of the problem. When these people cannot get ahold of their drug of choice, many turn to ...

Victim Impact Statement
As of not so long ago victims of crime have been considered the overlooked individuals of the
criminal justice system. It is common for victims of crime to feel powerless and without a voice in the
criminal justice system. Victims can now be heard through a document called a Victim Impact
statement, it is the victims chance to tell the courts about the effect that the crime has burdened on the
individual, physically, and emotionally.
Numerous changes have been started with an end goal to guarantee causalities support in the justice
procedure. In any given case, members of the jury who were presented with a VIS were less likely to
find the defendant guilty for their post deliberation verdicts, and those who found the defendant guilty
gave significantly harsher sentence recommendations and were more likely to impose the death
penalty than jurors who did not receive victim impact evidence. Implications for decisions such as
Payne v. Tennessee (1991) are discussed.
The perception that the criminal law is insensitive has prompted to requests being made to reintegrate

Opponents of the participatory right express the concern that rights gained by the victims are rights
lost to the defendant, that bringing the victim back into the process means a reversion to the
retributive, repressive and vengeful punishment of an earlier age. These changes would move the
essential objective of criminal justice from meeting the trepidations of the state to meeting the worries
of the individual privately, subsequently returning criminal arraignment to the days when it was just a
little more than a branch of tort law. Some contend that victims anguish has been abused or
mistranslated into support for the moderate belief system, and the endeavour to bring the victim once
more into the procedure is viewed as another scheme to fufill the objective of creating harsher
punishments. (Henderson

Examples Of Technology In Fahrenheit 451
In Ray Bradbury s novel, Fahrenheit 451, multiple ideas and themes are shown similar between
Bradbury s envisioned society and today s society. Technology, increase in efficiency due to
technology, and thrill seeking behaviors, are all ideas that are portrayed by Bradbury.
Technology is a common similarity that is brought up many times in both Fahrenheit s society and is
often brought up in today s society. When Bradbury wrote this novel, he was concerned that television
would drown out literature in the future as it became more popular. One might argue that the
introduction of the internet and social media has led people to prefer cyber relationships over human
relationships. An example of this in today s society could be the people on the subway train. We tend
to refrain from communication with others and the best way to do that is by entering our virtual reality
in our technology. But, this hasn t happened to an extent portrayed in the book. Montag, the main
character, begins to interact with a girl named Clarisse in the book, she asks him questions like, Are
you happy (pg.10). In Fahrenheit 451 s society, people haven t totally lost the ability or will to connect
to one another in person. Bradbury provides many examples of how technology has blinded people in
his envisioned society. Mildred, Montag s wife, is a perfect example of how technology is slowly
consuming the lives of people in Fahrenheit 451. Everyday Mildred sits in her room surrounded by a

Four years later the fruits of this trade is still paying off for Boston. Boston has the number pick in the
draft, and they have so many options they can go with. Markelle Fultz Is the consensus number 1 pick
on most mock drafts boards. He has the potential to be so great that recent rumors had Boston trading
their current superstar Thomas in favor for Fultz. I think Fultz and Thomas can coexist in the same
backcourt, Fultz was a point guard in college, however I think he will thrive in the NBA as shooting
guard with everyone playing small ball. Fultz doesn t need Thomas to create a shot for him, he can
create his own shot off the dribble, and if Thomas is out the game he can be the teams primary ball
handler, and the second option on offense. Fultz fits into the modern NBA because he shoots the three

Personal Behavior Change
Everyone has different challenge in his/her life ,and he/she may have different view on the same thing.
Therefore, people will have different goals which they are eager to achieve. Based on what my life
looks like and what I need in my life, my behavior change is to exercise at least one hour every day.
The reasons why I choose this goal are because I want to spend some time relaxing from my daily life,
and get the balance between education and occupation. Moreover, I expect to burn the fat in my body
because I spend very little time for workout since I got a job. When I planned to accomplish this
behavior change, I knew that challenges or difficulties would appear, I could not avoid them and I
could not finish it easily. But I am the kind of person who likes challenge and I am not afraid of it.
Therefore, I chose this behavior change. During the process of this behavior change, I met a lot of
difficulties and I learn how to get balance well in my life. The first and the biggest difficulty is time
because the time availability is limit for me. Because I have two summer classes and I need to work
five days weekly, time is huge challenge for me during the process. My schedule looks like going

challenges for me. But I would reduce the time for working or others so that everything can get
balance if I continue to keep working on this behavior change. I will try my best to continue this

Battle Of The Bulge Essay
The Battle of the Bulge
The battle of the bulge was Hitler s last chance to win the war or at least make the allies go for a
treaty. He did this because his forces were being pushed back into Germany and soon they would run
out of supplies and other resources for war. Hitler thought of this bold plan when he recalled how a
German hero Frederick the great was facing defeat, Frederick went on a offensive attack at his foe
who had superior numbers but the bold moved worked and Hitler thought he could do the same thing.
The Battle of the bulge took place on December sixteenth 1944. More than a million men participated
in this battle including some 600,000 Germans, 500,000 Americans, and 55,000 British which made it

It was the place were they had great success against the French people in the beginning of the war. The
Germans also selected it because it was easy to hide troops in the hills which they did at the first major

line because they wanted to give support to the flank were the attack was expected so they thought.
During the War Eisenhower and his staff felt this spot was the least likely to be attacked. The thought
the Germans would not try any thing through the narrow passageway. The Germans wanted the
opposite of what the Americans wanted to do. As stated above the Allied troops were resting and

north and General Patton s 3rd Army to the south. The Ardennes was held by General Middleton who
had the 8th US Army Corps, 106th and 26th Infantry Divisions and 4th and 9th Armored Divisions.
The object of the German offensive was to push through the Belgian Ardennes, cross the Mousse,
retake Antwerp and its harbor facilities, thrust to the north and reach the sea which they almost
succeed in doing. This would cut off the Allied troops in Holland and Belgium, making it impossible
for them to withdraw. The success of the operation depended on three important

The Speed Limit in the State of Michigan Should be Raised...
Running late has always been a problem for people, whether it is for work or a doctor s appointment,
but will the benefit of arriving to a destination two or three minutes faster be worth the number of
lives that could be killed or seriously injured? Of course not. The proposed increase of the speed limit
in the state of Michigan going from 70 to 80 MPH or in some cases going from 55 to 80 MPH has
brought up discussions which experts say increasing the speed limit will only cause more accidents.
Reporter Roop Raj uses a policy statement to argue that the speed limit should not be increased to 80
MPH. Allowing the speed limit to increase to 80 MPH will only make drivers speed more. The first
piece of ground is the author s assertion that raising the speed limit will make people drive even faster.
According to auto attorney Steve Gursten, cell phone use is present all the time and talking about
increasing the speed limit is easier said than done. Increasing the speed limit at the same time that
distraction in cars is greater than it has ever been before could cause even bigger problems. For
example, texting while driving makes a person 23 times more likely to crash. (National Hwy
Transportation Safety Administration). So if drivers are already distracted, there should be no need to
increase the speed limit to increase danger on the road. One warrant for this piece of ground is that
drivers have a need for speed, so imagine people going close to 90 MPH on the highway. People

However, the American Heart Association (AHA) reports that cigarette smoking is responsible for
440,000 deaths each year. MedlinePlus reports that both cigarettes (smoking tobacco) and chewing
(smokeless) tobacco are bad for your health, and cause multiple and often fatal health problems.
Cardiovascular Disease
One negative effect that tobacco and nicotine addiction has on the health of the body is cardiovascular
disease. AHA reports that cigarette smokers are two to three times more likely to develop
cardiovascular disease than people who do not smoke. Also according to AHA, of the 440,000 deaths
each year caused by cigarette smoking, 135,000 are due to smoking related cardiovascular diseases.
Nicotine in tobacco products causes an increase in blood pressure and heart rate, and a narrowing of
the arteries. Carbon monoxide that is inhaled when tobacco is smoked decreases the amount of oxygen
carried by the blood to feed the body s tissues. The AHA reports that carbon monoxide and nicotine
damages the artery walls, which leads to the deposition of fat and narrowing of arteries, which further
increases blood pressure. Damaged vessels and high blood pressure are all risk factors for heart
failure. Furthermore, smoking tobacco causes the blood to clot more easily, which may cause a heart
attack or stroke. see survivor stories

Introduction
Smooth muscle contraction occurs when calcium is present in the smooth muscle cell and binds onto
calmodulin to activate myosin light chain kinase (Wilson et al., 2002). Phosphorylation of myosin
light chains result in myosin ATPase activity thus cross bridge cycling occurs causing the muscle to
contract (Horowitz et al., 1996). There are two known models of excitation and contraction in smooth

Next, to determine if contraction via the EMC pathway requires extracellular or intracellular calcium,
the second type of stimulus was used and the tissue was stimulated using calcium free K+ depolarising
solution. The bathing solution in this experiment was calcium free solution to make sure all
extracellular calcium was eliminated, as without calcium, the EMC pathway is expected to produce no
response.
The second experiment sought to determine whether calcium entry is via L type calcium channels,
therefore, verapamil (10 5 M) was used to block these channels. The tissue was then stimulated using
0.2ml of Ach (10 5 M) and K+ depolarising solution.
Results
When the tissue was immersed in calcium free solution and stimulated with Ach via the PMC
pathway, a small contraction (1.15g) was observed compared to the baseline contraction trace (6.37g).
Contraction recovered when the bathing solution was changed back to normal Krebs (5.63g). For the
next stimulus, K+ depolarising solution, the baseline control produced a force of 6.17g in normal
Krebs solution. When calcium free K+ depolarising solution was used to stimulate the tissue in
calcium free solution, via the EMC pathway, the tissue barely contracted at 0.09g. In the second
experiment, verapamil was added to the bathing solution. When the tissue was stimulated by Ach in
the presence of verapamil, it

P. Cinereus Sexual Selection
Sexual sections is one of the processes of natural selection in which there is a competition for sexual
reproduction, these competitions can be classified as intersexual or intrasexual. Intersexual
competition occurs when one organism, usually female, chooses its partner. Intrasexual competition,
on the other hand, happens when species from the same gender compete to sexually reproduce. The
main purpose of this experiment is to understand sexual selection process and behavior of P. cinereus,
a type of salamandra. In order to do so, different groups of the P. cinereus were gathered and observed
to determine whether groups are both socially monogamous as well as genetically monogamous which
are both factors that affect sexual selection. The

Management Information Systems Recommendations Report
For Fictitious Company Globally, retailing is witnessing epic transformations. The use of technology
has fueled upheavals in the retail landscape that are revolutionary in scope, and unprecedented in
nature (Leventon, Gupta Magal, 2011). Technology has advanced from the automation of structured
processes to systems that are truly revolutionary in that they introduce change into the fundamental
business procedures, workflow and management of an organization. Numerous studies have shown
that the employment of new or the updating of a business s existing technology contributes to a firm s
competitive advantage, which in turn creates greater value for the customer (Altshuler, Gelb Henry,
2010; Bharadwaj, 2000; Carr, 2003; Mellville, Kraemer, Ghurbaxani, 2004). The main operational and
human resource challenges for Fictitious Company that will be addressed from a management
information system perspective in this report are: low levels of inventory, manual procurement
procedures, access to new trends, and security and ethical breaches by employees.
A competitive advantage exists when a company is able to deliver the same benefits as competitors
but at a lower cost, or deliver benefits that exceed those of competing products (Porter, 1998). The
operational and human resource challenges experienced by Fictitious Company clearly places the
business at a competitive disadvantage. To address this dilemma it is

Marie and Howard Dahn obvious know the value of next education. The very reason why they ask this
is to see if the person writing the essay knows that reason or has their own. I believe I have come up
the many reasons for why I value a next level of education. I believe one of the many reasons is
knowledge, the creation of new bonds, and in general to experience new things. These are the some of
the reasons why I believe next level education is important. Like I previously said, Knowledge is a big
reason why the next level of education is really important. Knowledge of course doesn t have to be
being the most intelligent in the world. It s about learning new things and applying them or knowing
why it affects your day to day life. A more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I still think that Mrs. and Mr. Dahn would agree with my claims. If I were just to say that a next level
of education is only important only getting your degree then that would be ignoring the other benefits.
Which are knowledge, the creation of new bonds, and experiencing new things. In a next level of
education you will meet some people who will teach you new things and vice versa. You might find
someone really inspiring that will be a sort of encouragement to continue to succeed. Of course the
end goal is to have a more educated community and experts in many fields to create more
advancements for humankind. That s the end goal for humankind, it s to advancements and make the

The Cause Of The Great Potato Famine
It s 1845 and our country, Ireland, is in extreme poverty and starvation. This is getting called on the
streets the Great Famine or Potato Famine. Our crops are dying due to a disease that has been
spreading through our fields. The cause of this disease is Phytophthora infestans or, as it more widely
known, the potato blight. This is a fungus that originated from the highlands of central Mexico. It can
infect all the potato crops in a field over the course of 3 days, which can cause losses that can be as
high as 100%. The famine has left a devastating impact on our island. People are dying and fleeing the
country. Our population is decreasing at a rapid pace and we re losing hope, but we can t let that

Obesity And The World Health Organization
Today, as values of living continue to boost, weight increase and obesity are posing a rising threat to
certain well beings in countries all over the world. Obesity, now confirmed as a nationwide endemic
by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is likely to get worse and amplify over
time. The World Health Organization (WHO) predicts there will be 2.3 billion overweight adults in the
world by 2015 and more than 700 million of them will be obese (Obesity: in Statistics, 2008, 2nd
Statement). It is definite that most kids are inclined to eat junk food, and it is certain that most kids
will become overweight as adults. About 15% of children and adolescents aged 6 to 19 years are
overweight, which is an increase of 4% from the 1988 1994 NHANES study (Chatterjee, Blakely,
Barton, 2005, p. 24). Statistics of obese persons in the United States alone are also greater in certain
cultural and ethnic minority groups, especially African American and Hispanics. Between 1986 and
1998, incidences of being overweight increased significantly among African American children by
21.5% and for Hispanic children by 21.8%. That is nearly almost ¼ of the population! Among all low
income children, the prevalence of being overweight was found to be highest among Latino children
by (12%) followed by Asian Pacific Islander (9.6%), African American (7.8%) and Whites (7.1%)

Difference Between B2B and B2C Marketing
The following table summarizes the differences between B2B marketing and B2C marketing. Your
marketing plan needs to take into account the differences and ensure you are developing the right
types of activities for your particular market.
B2B
Relationship driven
Maximize the value of the relationship
Small, focused target market
Multi step buying process, longer sales cycle
Brand identity created on personal relationship
Educational and awareness building activities
Rational buying decision based on business value B2C
Product driven
Maximize the value of the transaction
Large target market
Single step buying process, shorter sales cycle
Brand identity created through repetition and imagery ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although you can find the products on the Internet at many different price points, many consumers
will still buy from a trusted source. In that respect, B2C marketing needs to convince the person to
buy and build trust and loyalty with their customers.
Both buyers are interested in quality customer service. B2B customer service comes into play prior to
ever making that first sale and begins with a customer s very first contact with your company, whether
you call them or they call you. B2C customer service helps build customer loyalty where customers
will be willing to pay a slightly higher price to know that they can return the product easily and can
trust the source they are dealing with. In other words, customer service is critical and although may
not be considered marketing , bad customer service can render all of your marketing efforts useless.
Importance of Brand
A strong brand is important to both the B2B and the B2C markets, but for different reasons. With
B2C, a strong brand can encourage the consumer to buy, remain loyal and potentially pay a higher
price. In B2B markets, brand will only help you be considered, not necessarily chosen.
Business buyers are using more rational thought when selecting a product or service for their
company. They are motivated by saving money, increasing productivity or raising profitability.
Consumers are motivated by desire, style and prestige.

A New York Police Department
Picture a woman standing in a subway station in New York City. Her purse is slung over her shoulder
as she reads the railway map. A thief approaches her from behind and snatches the leather handle of
her purse from her grip. He dashes away as she helplessly watches him go. The woman does not call
the police or even ask passersby for help. She knows no one will come to her aid, especially not the
NYPD. Such a scenario is shocking and not a little discomforting, especially when placed in the
jurisdiction of the nationally acclaimed New York Police Department. Unfortunately, such scenes of
distress began to proliferate in late December of 2014 as the NYPD dramatically reduced the number
of arrests made for petty crimes, such as purse theft. The police used the cutback as a response to a
multitude of policy blunders from the office of Mayor de Blasio, many of which the NYPD considered
offensive and inappropriate. Although the mayor s actions doubtless deserve more scrutiny, the police
of New York City were devastatingly blind to the ethical implications of their rash decisions. By
indulging in an egocentric worldview and morally disengaging from their decisions, the NYPD gave
reign to emotion and released their wrath by endangering the population of their city. According to the
New York Times, the NYPD s disrespect for Mayor de Blasio built gradually as errors and oversights
slighting the police accumulated. The mayor s staff hired a former aid to a prominent religious figure

Play Affecting A Child s Development
How play can affect the ability to develop social skills and how it can be implemented in an
educational setting to help build relationships.
Play can be overlooked in the school setting by those who are unaware of the possibilities it can bring
and how it can influence a child s development. I will discuss how play techniques can be used to help
the child develop their social skills; what types of play can support development and what types of
play and hinder a child s development. This essay seeks to show the importance of play in a learning
setting and how it can help build relationships.
(MacIntyre, 2011, p. 29) states that The study of play and that of child development naturally
complement each other . This supports the idea that children can develop socially through play. Social
competence needs to be obtained to have a positive interaction with peers, to build relationships and to
nurture friendships (Johnson et al., 1999). There are many different types of play that can impact of
social development. Mildred Parten differentiated the social development of children into three levels
(Xu, 2010, p. 490).
One level of play that may impact social development is parallel play. Parallel activity is where

Poets of the Tang Dynasty Essay
Throughout human history, our beliefs have influenced our actions. This is why we have studies like
the humanities. During the Tang Dynasty, different religions developing during the time had enormous
influence on what was being produced during the era. When it comes to literature, poets like Wang
Wei, Li Bai, Du Fu, and Bo Juyi expressed their religions through their poetry during the Tang era.
While it was not always directly mentioned in their poetry, there are connections between the Tang
Dynasty poets works and their respective religions. Wang Wei (699 761CE), was a Buddhist poet that

1170). His poetry really appeals to the senses. One of the ways that Buddhism was introduced to the
Tang Dynasty was by means of a legendary monk: Xuanzang. He traveled to India, while the city of
Chang an suffered from chaos, to study the original Buddhist scripts and later returned to China to
translate all of them and interpret the ideas for the people through his Weishi School (Wen, 77). The
concept of emptiness is very prominent in Buddhism emptiness is neither reality nor total nothingness.
Thus, being and nothingness only differ in name; the ontological statuses of both are emptiness (76).
In Wei s poem, Hermitage at Chung nan Mountain he writes: ...and go there on a whim to wander
alone. But even in all this splendor, things remain empty. I climb to the headwaters where clouds rise
up from emptiness (Davis et al. 1170). The emptiness to which he is referring is not literal emptiness,
but to the underlying unity of all things. Also, the Chung nan Mountain that he refers to was a part of
the well known mountains that draw many followers of Taoism and Buddhism because of their
solitude. When he says Growing older, I grow into the Tao... he is referring to the way of life that can
be achieved by following Buddhist traditions. The poet Li Bai (701 762CE) was

The Controversy Of Capital Punishment
The Controversy of Capital Punishment
Capital punishment, or the death penalty, is a form of punishment that has been used as far back as the
Colonial Era in America. Although it has been around for the entirety of American history, most of the
scrutiny and controversy involving capital punishment arose in the 1972 Supreme Court Case of
Furman v. Georgia, in which it was abolished, but quickly returned in 1977. It is evident that many
citizens have ambivalent stances on capital punishment; some believing it is necessary form of
punishment while others believe that the death penalty is a violation of the Eighth Amendment.
Although capital punishment has been used throughout history and is seen by many as a form of
justified punishment, there are many reasons in favor of ending the death penalty completely. Capital
punishment is an unnecessary evil that should be found unconstitutional because of it is not practical,
it is corrupt, and it is unable to deter further homicides from being committed.
A brief history explaining the verdicts made by the Supreme Court regarding capital punishment in
American history needs to be made to understand why capital punishment has become such a national
issue in contemporary America. In the 1972 Supreme Court case Furman v. Georgia, the court ruled
that the, carrying out of the death penalty...constitutes cruel and unusual punishment, (Hugo 1). Since
the death penalty was considered at the time cruel and unusual, it made it in direct

Depression Disorder And Its Causes
Depression Disorder and Its Causes Miami Dade College Depression Disorder and Its Causes A
depressive disorder is an illness that involves the body, mood, and thoughts. It interferes with daily
life, normal functioning, and causes pain for both the person with the disorder and those who care
about him or her. A depressive disorder is not the same as passing blue moon, it is not a sign of a
personal weakness or a condition that can be wished away. People with depressive illness can get
better by pulling themselves together , without treatment, this disorder can get worse and can last for
weeks, months, or even years. (Tsuang MT, Faraone SV. The genetics of mood disorders. Baltimore,
MD: Johns Hopkins University Press, 1990) Everybody has low moods on occasion. Whether you get
a bad grade in school, a lower raise than you expected, a fight with a loved one, or a death of a
beloved pet there are countless reasons why a person will feel sad or for a while because of something
that has happened to him or her. This is often when people say. I m depressed and others understand
what they mean. But as long as the feeling never interferes with your ability to function in daily life
and goes away within no more than, say, a couple of weeks, it s not medical depression. The term
situational depression is sometimes used to describe depression brought on by a significant event in
your life. The death of a loved one, losing your job, a divorce and similar major life events can

of Tokyo. In comparison to most of the other islands in the pacific Iwo Jima is relatively small, in fact
it is only four and a half miles long by two and a half miles wide. The geographic layout of Iwo Jima
consists of a dormant volcano on the northern side called Mount Suribachi and a flat stretch of land to

The General learned that if he mixed the natural volcanic ash on the island with concrete it mad an

which housed a number of rooms to accommodate all of his needs. On the south side of the island he

producers do not want to sell the music outside of the park because it would take away the authenticity

One reason why I would decide to create a soundtrack for these particular places is because it would
allow the composer to have several genres of music rather than one. For example, if a plane was flying
over Texas, the passenger would be able to listen to popular country music; if the plane was flying
over New Orleans, he/she would be able listen to jazz music. Since some airlines do not provide
entertainment such as movies or television shows, listening to music would help the traveler relax and
enjoy the flight. Also, if the plane s route was going over several countries, the app would provide the
tourist a range of music from different regions. This app would allow the passengers to learn about the
country s history and culture. Every country has their own unique music; Italy is famous for folk
music and opera, Columbia is known for vallenato, and African music includes Talking Drums,
Bougarabou, and Djembes. While on a plane or cruise, not many passengers are aware of their
location, but with this app, passengers will be aware of where they are. Also, as the plane or cruise
makes its way through different regions of the country, the music would change to fit the particular
music played in that province. Music drastically differs within a country which would be exhibited in
this app. This app can help educate and inform the traveler which will make him/her more culturally

alcohol in the presence of an acid catalyst.
Theory:
Synthesize isopentyl acetate by combining isopentyl alcohol with acetic acid and sulfuric acid and
then heating the reaction mixture under reflux for an hour. The alcohol is the limiting reactant, so it
should be weighed/ the acids can be measured by volume. The esterification reaction is reversible, and

Social Conventions In The Stranger, By Albert Camus
Many abide societal expectations to justify their own actions; however, it is through their
submissiveness that heightens one s vulnerability as they cannot surpass the absurdities of life.
According to J.A. Cuddon, Man is born into a kind of void, a mud. He has the liberty to remain in this
mud and thus lead a passive, supine, acquiescent existence (316 7); therefore, one has the choice to
alleviate themselves out of their own misery or accept their stance in society. In The Stranger, by

with only a small amount of short paragraphs consisting chiefly of only a few sentences. Style and

The Iran Contra Affair will almost always be discussed in a conversation about Ronald Reagan s
legacy, and it will usually be used against him negatively.
Ronald Reagan was not only a master of foreign policy, but was also skillful with his domestic policy
as well, such as his handling of illegal drug use within the United States. Reagan began his
administration s war on drugs in October 1982 (Glass). On that date he declared that illegal drugs and
their production and transportation were hurting America (Glass). From then on, he made it clear that
his administration would act against illegal drugs, and would do what it could to stop their influence.
Congress, Reagan s Vice President George H.W. Bush, and even his wife all put forth great

The Purchase Of The Louisiana Purchase
Some historical and ancient occurrences are reasonably comprehensible and straightforward as to why
the event happened and the outcome of it. Other than America becoming a newly independent country,
the purchasing of the Louisiana Territory was a significant accomplishment as a young, brand new
country. The purchase nearly doubled and expanded the United States size by about 828,000 square
miles ( Louisiana Purchase ). However, this was not a laid back, straightforward business transaction
as one individual may think.
Surprisingly, the Louisiana Territory was an enormous interest in the Old World for an extended
period before 1803. Many explorations and widely dispersed settlements have arisen in the 17th and
18th centuries; causing France to be the first to gain control of the United States from New Orleans to
the Great Lakes and to now modern day Montana (History.com Louisiana Purchase ). In 1762 while
the French and Indian War was occurring, France surrendered Louisiana west of the Mississippi River
to Spain and in 1763 transferred all the North American land to Great Britain. In 1796, Spain allied
itself with France, which lead Britain to use its navy to cut off Spain from America.
In the early 1800s, Spain signed a secretive treaty with France to give the Louisiana Territory back to

Cide In The Rocide Genocide
genocide the deliberate killing to eliminate of a group of people of the same race, religion or ethnicity.
This word is derived from a combination of a Greek word genos ( race or tribe ) and a Latin word cide
( killing ). In 1994, in the beginning of April, the same has happened in Rwanda. A genocide.
Before the colonial period in Rwanda, there were three classifications of people. Hutus, who made up
the majority of the population 84%, Tutsi who were only 17% and Twa who only made up 1%. Hutus
were from less privileged families and were cultivators, Tutsis were cattle herders and from rich
families, and Twa were potters and were outshined by the other groups (Stapleton 28). However, these
classifications were based on the number of cattle people owned. People who owned 10 cows or more
were considered Tutsi and people with less than 10 cows were considered Hutu. People could shift
from being a Hutu to a Tutsi or vice versa depending on the number of cattle they had. Before
colonization Tutsis and Hutus lived peacefully (Warren 19).
During the colonial period tensions from all corners, politically, educationally and socially were
created such that hatred and violence was harbored in Hutus and they decided to eliminate fellow
Rwandese, Tutsis. The existence of ethnicities itself did not lead to the Tutsi Genocide since they
existed even before the colonial era.
In 1914 after Germany lost all its colonies, Rwanda which was also one of Germany colonies was

Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Essay
Introduction
Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is a surgery that is done when arteries of the heart have
become narrow or blocked. This is usually caused by the buildup of fat called plaques. These arteries
give the heart the oxygen and nutrients it needs to pump blood to your body.
During CABG, a section of blood vessel from another part of the body is taken. This section is called
a graft. The graft is placed where there is narrowing or blocking.

Biography of William Wordsworth
Throughout history, there have numerous poets who have had grand influences on the future of
literature. Many poets have different writing styles and themes, but nevertheless, they often share
various similarities within their work. Wordsworth, Tennyson, and Keats can be seen as some of the
most comparable people in both their personal lives and literary works. There are three specific
poems, one from each poet that can be related to one another. There is: Wordsworth s Lines Composed
a Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey , Keats s Ode on a Grecian Urn and Tennyson s In Memoriam,
A.H.H. Wordsworth, Keats, and Tennyson never rationalize, argue, or preach; they carefully craft
every word to maximize a reader s understanding of the experience by absorbing the reader into the
poem itself. Each poem has various philosophical truths that the reader has to ultimately discover on
his or her own and learn about immortality and the effects of it upon human perception. Even though
these poets differ in their messages, their styles and themes of writings can be linked together.
William Wordsworth was born in 1770 and was a Romantic poet that helped launch the era of
Romanticism in English literature. Wordsworth s mother died when he was a young child and this
experience had a significant amount of influence in his later literary works. Wordsworth studied at St.
John s College in Cambridge, but before he graduated, he went to tour Europe, which in turn shaped
and influenced his writings

Comparative Analysis of Antibiotic Growth Suppression of Staphylococcus Aureus
Introduction
Staphylococcus Aureus is a gram negative bacterium that may be pathogenic or exist as a commensal
organism in humans. Unevolved strains are susceptible to nearly all antibiotics (Chambers DeLeo,
2009). Among the many antibiotic options, penicillin is particularly effective against S. Aureus. This is
due to the mechanism of action by which penicillin replaces key structures in the bacterial cell wall
that are essential to growth and repair. By preventing this cell maintenance, penicillin promotes
osmotic instability in the cell and greatly increases the likelihood of cell death (Strominger Tipper
1965). In a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Recent research by Khokhlova et al. found that MRSA cases among S. Aureus isolates across Siberia
were found at a rate of 22% in hospitals, compared to a community infection rate of 2.9% (2015).
Traditional antibiotic treatments such as penicillin are often proven ineffective in these cases, as in the
case of Fomda et al., which found a resistance rate of 85.46% at a tertiary care hospital (2014). The
goal of this experiment is to determine whether different antibiotics will inhibit bacterial growth of S.
Aureus. The hypothesis is that all three antibiotics used (penicillin, gentamicin, and kanamycin) will
inhibit growth. If a zone of inhibition is observed around each antibiotic disk, then the hypothesis will
be supported demonstrating the bacteria s susceptibility to the subject antibiotics. By demonstrating
the efficacy of various different antibiotics and comparing them to one another in context of the target
bacteria, combined with the gram stain results of S. Aureus, the results may be further analyzed and
explained.
Methods
Five agar plates were prepared with evenly distributed S. Aureus bacteria. After being marked into
four equal quadrants, an antibiotic disk was gently placed in each section of each plate. The levels of
treatment in the 4 disks were 10 micrograms of gentamicin, 10 micrograms of penicillin, and 30
micrograms of kanamycin, with a control group of an identical

You rushed a special law in Parliament authorizing the detention without trial of people connected

Notwithstanding that myth of the Judeo Christian God became a reality when Moses left Egypt and
traveled through the desert to Mount Sinai. There in Sinai would be the first encounter Moses would
have with Judeo Christian God and their Judeo Christian God gained Moses s attention through a
burning brush and a powerful voice telling Moses he is Judeo Christian God and his father and I want
you to go back to Israel and tell Pharaoh to free my people. While this film tells a modern story set in
the present day which is analytical of both atheistic skepticism and abrasive religious fundamentalism.
Next, The Ten Commandments film set the story wholly in the ancient world but was still used to
entertain and address modern issues. The Ten Commandments has a place in history and were created
to teach the moral limitations and firm basis for obedience of the law. These Commandments can still
be used today to teach the ten most historical and influential laws established by the Judeo Christian
God. The Ten Commandments were made very transparent and the intentions were clearly not just to
entertain but to inform and teach the difference between dictatorship and

My Favorite Experience In My Life
Pass. Set. Spike. Serve. Dig. I have heard these words surround me since I was young. Sports have
played an important part of my life since I was young taking a parent and me swim classes at the local
YMCA. I was that kid who played almost every sport out there, from karate to soccer to basketball.
Even after all that, it still took me still took me years to find my true passion as far as sports go.
Both of my parents played volleyball growing up so it has always been in my life one way or another.
My two brothers couldn t care less about it, rather spending their days playing soccer and video
games.
All of a sudden, the first day of school, middle school, rolled around. My school offered a sports
program, so without hesitation, I had decided to sign up for volleyball because I wanted to try
something new and try to find an activity that would keep me happy and busy. Sixth grade flew by and
seventh soon came. As per the one year tradition, I signed up to play volleyball. This year, I played on
my school s varsity team.
Seventh grade was the year I tried out for club volleyball. My first year of club volleyball is where I
had some of the best and worst experiences of my life. My teammates are some of my best friends,
who I have known from previous sports our parents made us suffer through. This team also happens to
be one of the worst in the league, taking second to last place in the league. We lose every tournament,
much less every game. And everyone likes to win,

Questions On Learning And Lesson Planning
1. What challenges have you faced?
Some of the challenges I have faced behavior issues with the students, disgruntle parents, difficult
administration and time management. When I 1st started teaching I had 34 students and I would give
homework and I could not check the homework every night and I had a policy where if the child
missed 3 homework they would get a phone call. And she called the students home the parent was
very rude and was wondering why she was just now getting a call. She didn t use profanity but I felt
degraded and my confidence went down and I felt like I wasn t a good teacher.

One of my weaknesses is technology and incorporating it into the lesson. But I am trying to get better
by asking questions and my school offers training in the technology in the classroom. The smartboard
being an example. Plus, they upgraded the smartboard and I was just adjusting to the one I had
currently and then we got a new one.
8. When did you decide to become a teacher and why did you choose this field?
I always wanted to be a teacher even as a child. What helped me make that decision was my first
calculus and accounting course because I realize business was not for me and I have always worked
with children on one level or another. I was a Sunday school teacher at my church and I had nieces
and nephews that I had to watch and assist with their work.
9. What personal strengths do you find especially helpful in your teaching?
The personal strengths that you find helpful in my teaching is the fact that I have always been around
children which helps me know how they think and being a team player and work well with others.
And plus, I liked to see a finished product. I like to start something and finish it through which is
important when teaching.
10. What is your philosophy of education?

the benefits of grouping and using the different learning style to give the students different every point

The Anglo-Saxon Archetype Of Beowulf As An Epic Hero
BeaHero An epic hero is a brave and noble character in an epic poem, admired for great achievements
or affected by grand events. The epic hero of a story embarks on a quest in search of fame and glory,
and encounters challenges throughout their journey. No matter the adversity, the epic hero maintains
bravery and courage, never backing down. However, what the epic hero does not know is that the real
reason for a quest is always self knowledge (Foster 3). In the epic Beowulf, Anonymous employes the
affection of a king, bravery in battle, an eternal quest and a lasting legacy to show Beowulf as an epic
hero. Beowulf embodies the Anglo Saxon archetype of an epic hero. A key moment in the epic is
when king Hrothgar welcomes Beowulf to his kingdom and says But to table, Beowulf, a banquet in
your honor:/Let us toast your victories, and talk of the future (ll. 223 224). Here it is shown that even a
king is acknowledging Beowulf s bravery and is throwing him a feast, one of the highest honors a king
could bestow upon anyone, showing Hrothgar s great admiration for Beowulf. During the feast
Unferth questions Beowulf s honor but is shown to be a coward himself when Beowulf refutes his
claims and inspires king Hrothgar with a speech: The Geats will show him courage, soon/He can test
his strength in battle. And when the sun/Comes up again, opening another/Bright day from the south,
anyone in Denmark will be able to enter Herot (ll. 332 342). Much like they typical Anglo Saxon

  • 2. The Little Rock Nine Analysis The Little Rock Nine was a group of nine African American students that were admitted to Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, on September 4, 1957. The Supreme Court made the decision of desegregating the schools. Carlotta Walls, Ernest Green, Thelma Mothershed, Jefferson Thomas, Minnijean Brown, Melba Pattillo Beals, Gloria Ray Karlmark, Terrence Roberts, and Elizabeth Eckford made history. They went through many tough situations just trying to get inside the school. When the nine students made it inside, the struggle was then to survive with all the racist people there to stop them from reaching their only goal. Superintendent Blossom told them that they could not have a normal high school experience. Torture was present everyday ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The author mentions ... for a black child, a little too much confidence, a joke, saying or doing the wrong thing, in the wrong place, at the wrong time, or just being the wrong color could cost him his life (Wall Lanier 40). They were very much aware of the cruelty all around them but did not become apart of the negativity. The LIttle Rock Nine were strong and committed to learning no matter what obstacle got in their way. I also chose a blue rose because of how caring and loving they were to each other. Carlotta thinks about her friends as they are having a meeting in Blossom s office. She comments I wondered how Ernie or the other guys in the room must felt (Walls Lanier 60). She thought back to Emmett Till and compared him to Ernie. If they did something at the wrong moment nobody knew what could happen. • 3. Pressure And Stereotypes For Girls In The Fashion Industry The Fashion Industry Under society s norms for decades, girls have been put under the pressure and expectation to have perfect bodies. That is, thin and curved, beautified by applying pounds of makeup to their face but not appear ridiculously overdone. Where do these unreachable standards come from? When a young girl hears the model on the cover of Vogue being called flawless it s easy for her to then aspire to be a real life replica of the photoshop. These companies spit out magazine covers plastered with girls idols daily. As if maintaining the perfect body wasn t hard enough our culture also forces girls into the forever expanding world of makeup, however, body image is a pressing issue for girls. Ads and posters of skinny female models are everywhere. Young girls not only could be better but need to be better and feel forced to have the perfect physique. Girls are evaluated and oppressed by their physical appearances. With accessories and apparel designed to enhance a look; social media, magazines, and marketing campaigns and advertisements add to the burden of perfection. The fashion industry is a prime target of body image issues, as they believe clothes look better on tall and slim women. Based on a survey participated by 13 to 17 year old in the U.S., 90% felt pressured by fashion and media industries to be skinny , with more than 60% habitually compare themselves to models, while 46% will strive to achieve it. To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell and Our Love Now by Martyn Lowery both see men trying to use methods of persuasion to get what they want. How successful are they? I have recently studied To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell, written in the 17th Century and Our Love Now by Martyn Lowery, written in the 19th century. Attitudes to love have changed a lot since the 17th Century. When To His Coy Mistress was written, men were in charge of the relationship. It would take a lot longer for this relationship to progress than it would today. The man would court the woman for months before anything progressed. He has also divided the poem into three sections. The first section is about him romancing and flattering her. He shows his love for her by using time, place and exaggeration. He tells her that she could sit by the Indian Ganges, and he would sit by the Humber in England and wish for her. He then goes on to say, that if she wishes; she can keep him at arms length, and that his feelings will wait until she is ready. This makes her feel that he is not pressuring her in to anything she does not want to do. Marvell uses a lot of exaggeration, for example I would / Love you ten years before the flood.. Many police officers find users unconscious or dead in cars, restaurants, in parks, hospitals, and libraries. It is common for victims of crime to feel powerless and without a voice in the criminal justice system. Victims can now be heard through a document called a Victim Impact statement, it is the victims chance to tell the courts about the effect that the crime has burdened on the individual, physically, and emotionally. Numerous changes have been started with an end goal to guarantee causalities support in the justice procedure. In any given case, members of the jury who were presented with a VIS were less likely to find the defendant guilty for their post deliberation verdicts, and those who found the defendant guilty gave significantly harsher sentence recommendations and were more likely to impose the death penalty than jurors who did not receive victim impact evidence. • 8. Examples Of Technology In Fahrenheit 451 In Ray Bradbury s novel, Fahrenheit 451, multiple ideas and themes are shown similar between Bradbury s envisioned society and today s society. Technology, increase in efficiency due to technology, and thrill seeking behaviors, are all ideas that are portrayed by Bradbury. Technology is a common similarity that is brought up many times in both Fahrenheit s society and is often brought up in today s society. When Bradbury wrote this novel, he was concerned that television would drown out literature in the future as it became more popular. One might argue that the introduction of the internet and social media has led people to prefer cyber relationships over human relationships. An example of this in today s society could be the people on the subway train. We tend to refrain from communication with others and the best way to do that is by entering our virtual reality in our technology. But, this hasn t happened to an extent portrayed in the book. Montag, the main character, begins to interact with a girl named Clarisse in the book, she asks him questions like, Are you happy (pg.10). In Fahrenheit 451 s society, people haven t totally lost the ability or will to connect to one another in person. • 14. The Speed Limit in the State of Michigan Should be Raised... Running late has always been a problem for people, whether it is for work or a doctor s appointment, but will the benefit of arriving to a destination two or three minutes faster be worth the number of lives that could be killed or seriously injured? Of course not. The proposed increase of the speed limit in the state of Michigan going from 70 to 80 MPH or in some cases going from 55 to 80 MPH has brought up discussions which experts say increasing the speed limit will only cause more accidents. Reporter Roop Raj uses a policy statement to argue that the speed limit should not be increased to 80 MPH. Allowing the speed limit to increase to 80 MPH will only make drivers speed more. The first piece of ground is the author s assertion that raising the speed limit will make people drive even faster. According to auto attorney Steve Gursten, cell phone use is present all the time and talking about increasing the speed limit is easier said than done. Increasing the speed limit at the same time that distraction in cars is greater than it has ever been before could cause even bigger problems. For example, texting while driving makes a person 23 times more likely to crash. (National Hwy Transportation Safety Administration). So if drivers are already distracted, there should be no need to increase the speed limit to increase danger on the road. One warrant for this piece of ground is that drivers have a need for speed, so imagine people going close to 90 MPH on the highway. People ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The second experiment sought to determine whether calcium entry is via L type calcium channels, therefore, verapamil (10 5 M) was used to block these channels. The tissue was then stimulated using 0.2ml of Ach (10 5 M) and K+ depolarising solution. Results When the tissue was immersed in calcium free solution and stimulated with Ach via the PMC pathway, a small contraction (1.15g) was observed compared to the baseline contraction trace (6.37g). Contraction recovered when the bathing solution was changed back to normal Krebs (5.63g). For the next stimulus, K+ depolarising solution, the baseline control produced a force of 6.17g in normal Krebs solution. When calcium free K+ depolarising solution was used to stimulate the tissue in calcium free solution, via the EMC pathway, the tissue barely contracted at 0.09g. In the second experiment, verapamil was added to the bathing solution. When the tissue was stimulated by Ach in the presence of verapamil, it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Management Information Systems Recommendations Report For Fictitious Company Globally, retailing is witnessing epic transformations. The use of technology has fueled upheavals in the retail landscape that are revolutionary in scope, and unprecedented in nature (Leventon, Gupta Magal, 2011). Technology has advanced from the automation of structured processes to systems that are truly revolutionary in that they introduce change into the fundamental business procedures, workflow and management of an organization. Numerous studies have shown that the employment of new or the updating of a business s existing technology contributes to a firm s competitive advantage, which in turn creates greater value for the customer (Altshuler, Gelb Henry, 2010; Bharadwaj, 2000; Carr, 2003; Mellville, Kraemer, Ghurbaxani, 2004). The main operational and human resource challenges for Fictitious Company that will be addressed from a management information system perspective in this report are: low levels of inventory, manual procurement procedures, access to new trends, and security and ethical breaches by employees. A competitive advantage exists when a company is able to deliver the same benefits as competitors but at a lower cost, or deliver benefits that exceed those of competing products (Porter, 1998). The operational and human resource challenges experienced by Fictitious Company clearly places the business at a competitive disadvantage. To address this dilemma it is ... In that respect, B2C marketing needs to convince the person to buy and build trust and loyalty with their customers. Both buyers are interested in quality customer service. B2B customer service comes into play prior to ever making that first sale and begins with a customer s very first contact with your company, whether you call them or they call you. B2C customer service helps build customer loyalty where customers will be willing to pay a slightly higher price to know that they can return the product easily and can trust the source they are dealing with. In other words, customer service is critical and although may not be considered marketing , bad customer service can render all of your marketing efforts useless. Importance of Brand A strong brand is important to both the B2B and the B2C markets, but for different reasons. With B2C, a strong brand can encourage the consumer to buy, remain loyal and potentially pay a higher price. In B2B markets, brand will only help you be considered, not necessarily chosen. A thief approaches her from behind and snatches the leather handle of her purse from her grip. He dashes away as she helplessly watches him go. The woman does not call the police or even ask passersby for help. She knows no one will come to her aid, especially not the NYPD. Such a scenario is shocking and not a little discomforting, especially when placed in the jurisdiction of the nationally acclaimed New York Police Department. Unfortunately, such scenes of distress began to proliferate in late December of 2014 as the NYPD dramatically reduced the number of arrests made for petty crimes, such as purse theft. The police used the cutback as a response to a multitude of policy blunders from the office of Mayor de Blasio, many of which the NYPD considered offensive and inappropriate. Although the mayor s actions doubtless deserve more scrutiny, the police of New York City were devastatingly blind to the ethical implications of their rash decisions. By indulging in an egocentric worldview and morally disengaging from their decisions, the NYPD gave reign to emotion and released their wrath by endangering the population of their city. The Controversy Of Capital Punishment The Controversy of Capital Punishment Capital punishment, or the death penalty, is a form of punishment that has been used as far back as the Colonial Era in America. Although it has been around for the entirety of American history, most of the scrutiny and controversy involving capital punishment arose in the 1972 Supreme Court Case of Furman v. Georgia, in which it was abolished, but quickly returned in 1977. It is evident that many citizens have ambivalent stances on capital punishment; some believing it is necessary form of punishment while others believe that the death penalty is a violation of the Eighth Amendment. Although capital punishment has been used throughout history and is seen by many as a form of justified punishment, there are many reasons in favor of ending the death penalty completely. Capital punishment is an unnecessary evil that should be found unconstitutional because of it is not practical, it is corrupt, and it is unable to deter further homicides from being committed. A brief history explaining the verdicts made by the Supreme Court regarding capital punishment in American history needs to be made to understand why capital punishment has become such a national issue in contemporary America. A depressive disorder is not the same as passing blue moon, it is not a sign of a personal weakness or a condition that can be wished away. Ronald Reagan was not only a master of foreign policy, but was also skillful with his domestic policy as well, such as his handling of illegal drug use within the United States. Reagan began his administration s war on drugs in October 1982 (Glass). On that date he declared that illegal drugs and their production and transportation were hurting America (Glass). From then on, he made it clear that his administration would act against illegal drugs, and would do what it could to stop their influence. Congress, Reagan s Vice President George H.W. Bush, and even his wife all put forth great contributions to the fight against illegal drugs. Ronald Reagan began to take action of his own in September 1986 when he helped to put forth and effectively pass Executive Order 12564 (Drug Free Federal Workplace). The order was intended to create a drug free work environment for every worker in America, and made it the law to not use drugs while at a workplace (Drug Free Federal Workplace). Also, he signed the Anti Drug Abuse Act of 1988 into law (Anti Drug Abuse Act). • 41. The Purchase Of The Louisiana Purchase Some historical and ancient occurrences are reasonably comprehensible and straightforward as to why the event happened and the outcome of it. Other than America becoming a newly independent country, the purchasing of the Louisiana Territory was a significant accomplishment as a young, brand new country. The purchase nearly doubled and expanded the United States size by about 828,000 square miles ( Louisiana Purchase ). However, this was not a laid back, straightforward business transaction as one individual may think. Surprisingly, the Louisiana Territory was an enormous interest in the Old World for an extended period before 1803. Many explorations and widely dispersed settlements have arisen in the 17th and 18th centuries; causing France to be the first to gain control of the United States from New Orleans to the Great Lakes and to now modern day Montana (History.com Louisiana Purchase ). In 1762 while the French and Indian War was occurring, France surrendered Louisiana west of the Mississippi River to Spain and in 1763 transferred all the North American land to Great Britain. In 1796, Spain allied itself with France, which lead Britain to use its navy to cut off Spain from America. In the early 1800s, Spain signed a secretive treaty with France to give the Louisiana Territory back to them. The United States heard about this private agreement and were very uneasy of the French leader Napoleon Bonaparte. Americans during the time were traveling west, and the colonists ... This word is derived from a combination of a Greek word genos ( race or tribe ) and a Latin word cide ( killing ). In 1994, in the beginning of April, the same has happened in Rwanda. A genocide. Before the colonial period in Rwanda, there were three classifications of people. Hutus, who made up the majority of the population 84%, Tutsi who were only 17% and Twa who only made up 1%. Hutus were from less privileged families and were cultivators, Tutsis were cattle herders and from rich families, and Twa were potters and were outshined by the other groups (Stapleton 28). However, these classifications were based on the number of cattle people owned. People who owned 10 cows or more were considered Tutsi and people with less than 10 cows were considered Hutu. People could shift from being a Hutu to a Tutsi or vice versa depending on the number of cattle they had. Before colonization Tutsis and Hutus lived peacefully (Warren 19). During the colonial period tensions from all corners, politically, educationally and socially were created such that hatred and violence was harbored in Hutus and they decided to eliminate fellow Rwandese, Tutsis. The existence of ethnicities itself did not lead to the Tutsi Genocide since they existed even before the colonial era. • 44. Biography of William Wordsworth Throughout history, there have numerous poets who have had grand influences on the future of literature. Many poets have different writing styles and themes, but nevertheless, they often share various similarities within their work. Wordsworth, Tennyson, and Keats can be seen as some of the most comparable people in both their personal lives and literary works. There are three specific poems, one from each poet that can be related to one another. There is: Wordsworth s Lines Composed a Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey , Keats s Ode on a Grecian Urn and Tennyson s In Memoriam, A.H.H. Wordsworth, Keats, and Tennyson never rationalize, argue, or preach; they carefully craft every word to maximize a reader s understanding of the experience by absorbing the reader into the poem itself. Each poem has various philosophical truths that the reader has to ultimately discover on his or her own and learn about immortality and the effects of it upon human perception. Even though these poets differ in their messages, their styles and themes of writings can be linked together. William Wordsworth was born in 1770 and was a Romantic poet that helped launch the era of Romanticism in English literature. Wordsworth s mother died when he was a young child and this experience had a significant amount of influence in his later literary works. Wordsworth studied at St. John s College in Cambridge, but before he graduated, he went to tour Europe, which in turn shaped and influenced his writings ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Comparative Analysis Of Antibiotic Growth Of... Matthew Crane Lab Section: 13151 Comparative Analysis of Antibiotic Growth Suppression of Staphylococcus Aureus Introduction Staphylococcus Aureus is a gram negative bacterium that may be pathogenic or exist as a commensal organism in humans. Unevolved strains are susceptible to nearly all antibiotics (Chambers DeLeo, 2009). Among the many antibiotic options, penicillin is particularly effective against S. Aureus. This is due to the mechanism of action by which penicillin replaces key structures in the bacterial cell wall that are essential to growth and repair. By preventing this cell maintenance, penicillin promotes osmotic instability in the cell and greatly increases the likelihood of cell death (Strominger Tipper 1965). In a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Recent research by Khokhlova et al. found that MRSA cases among S. Aureus isolates across Siberia were found at a rate of 22% in hospitals, compared to a community infection rate of 2.9% (2015). Traditional antibiotic treatments such as penicillin are often proven ineffective in these cases, as in the case of Fomda et al., which found a resistance rate of 85.46% at a tertiary care hospital (2014). The goal of this experiment is to determine whether different antibiotics will inhibit bacterial growth of S. Aureus. The hypothesis is that all three antibiotics used (penicillin, gentamicin, and kanamycin) will inhibit growth. If a zone of inhibition is observed around each antibiotic disk, then the hypothesis will be supported demonstrating the bacteria s susceptibility to the subject antibiotics. By demonstrating the efficacy of various different antibiotics and comparing them to one another in context of the target bacteria, combined with the gram stain results of S. Aureus, the results may be further analyzed and explained. Methods Five agar plates were prepared with evenly distributed S. Aureus bacteria. After being marked into four equal quadrants, an antibiotic disk was gently placed in each section of each plate. The levels of treatment in the 4 disks were 10 micrograms of gentamicin, 10 micrograms of penicillin, and 30 micrograms of kanamycin, with a control group of an identical ... • 50. The Anglo-Saxon Archetype Of Beowulf As An Epic Hero BeaHero An epic hero is a brave and noble character in an epic poem, admired for great achievements or affected by grand events. The epic hero of a story embarks on a quest in search of fame and glory, and encounters challenges throughout their journey. No matter the adversity, the epic hero maintains bravery and courage, never backing down. However, what the epic hero does not know is that the real reason for a quest is always self knowledge (Foster 3). In the epic Beowulf, Anonymous employes the affection of a king, bravery in battle, an eternal quest and a lasting legacy to show Beowulf as an epic hero. Beowulf embodies the Anglo Saxon archetype of an epic hero. A key moment in the epic is when king Hrothgar welcomes Beowulf to his kingdom and says But to table, Beowulf, a banquet in your honor:/Let us toast your victories, and talk of the future (ll. 223 224). Here it is shown that even a king is acknowledging Beowulf s bravery and is throwing him a feast, one of the highest honors a king could bestow upon anyone, showing Hrothgar s great admiration for Beowulf. During the feast Unferth questions Beowulf s honor but is shown to be a coward himself when Beowulf refutes his claims and inspires king Hrothgar with a speech: The Geats will show him courage, soon/He can test his strength in battle. And when the sun/Comes up again, opening another/Bright day from the south, anyone in Denmark will be able to enter Herot (ll. 332 342). Much like they typical Anglo Saxon ...
