Google s Innovation Strategy And Organizational Culture
Innovation Strategy and Organizational Culture:
I would like to start my report document by giving brief definitions for innovation strategy and
organizational culture. Innovation strategy can be explained as good strategies to improve the market
share or profits within an organization with various functions such as marketing, operations, finance
and R D in the business strategy. Where as an organization culture is a system, assumptions, procedure
and beliefs of the organization to behave successfully.
Innovation Culture:
Basic Assumptions:
Google is best in both success and innovation in this world of famous online market and competitive
world such as Microsoft. The success and innovation is possible only if a company has a good
innovation strategy and organizational culture. Google s basic assumption is to have satisfied
employees, satisfied customers and have a good revenue, market share and profitability. ... Show more

Drinking Water Fracking
Government scientist are under fire after the EPA, who was ordered by Congress to study the impacts
of fracking on drinking water, discovered that there was an effect on drinking water sources due to
fracking. This method of fracking, which involves the breaking of rocks with pressurized water and
chemicals into the ground, has been cost effective as far as dropping gas prices, but has instead
compromised drinking water. The EPA reported, We found specific instances where one or more
mechanisms led to impacts on drinking water resources, including contamination of drinking water

According to the Millennium Development Goals Report 2012, 783 million people, or 11 per cent of
the global population, remain without access to an improved source of drinking water. Such sources
include household connections, public standpipes, boreholes, protected dug wells, protected springs
and rainwater collections. (United Nations, 2012) The United Nations Water Conference in 1977 along
with a few other conferences, addressed helping approximately 1.3 billion people in developing
countries gain access to safe drinking water. (United Nations, 2012) While there is progress being

developing regions, 90 per cent or more of the population now uses an improved drinking water

on track to meet the MDG drinking water target by 2015. Over 40 per cent of all people without
improved drinking water live in sub Saharan Africa. (United Nations, 2012) It is shown that rural
areas still lack drinkable water as opposed to urban areas. Consistent improvement has been made to
supply populated areas with a reliable source of drinking water. However, research shows, Coverage
with improved drinking water sources for rural populations is still lagging. In 2010, 96 per cent of the

Moral Standars
The moral standards approach is the approach that focuses on three dimensions of the impact of the
proposed action: (1) whether it provides a net benefit to society; (2) whether it is fair to all
stakeholders; and (3) whether it is right. The moral standards approach was developed by Professor
Manuel Velasquez in 1992. Although some overlap some of the first approach, the focus is less
company centred, and is better suited for the evaluation of the decisions where stakeholders are the
ones who are impacted, outside the company is most likely to be severe. And the long term impact is
most likely incorporated. How might I conduct a stakeholder impact analysis be done using the moral

By checking if the fairness of the distributions of benefits and burdens are equal. And make sure that
the stakeholders and the decision maker s rights are not offended. The 5 question approach is an
analytical approach that involves challenging any of the proposed policies by asking these five
questions: is the decision fair? Is the decision right? Is the decision legal? Is the decision profitable?
And is the decision sustainable? It does not matter how they are asked, but the first four questions
must be asked to make sure that the person who is deciding does not miss an important impacted area.
How might I conduct a stakeholder impact analysis of this scenario using the 5 question approach? I
might start by asking if the decision is profitable to the shareholders. The decision fair to all involved?
Is the decision legal to the society at large? Is the decision right to other rights of all involved? And is
the decision sustainable to the environmental rights? And the last approach, the Pastin s approach
which is the ground rule ethics (organization individual rules and values). End point ethics (greatest
net good for all concerned).Rule ethics (determine ethical boundaries to take into account
impingement of rights). And social contract ethics (how to move boundaries). How might I conduct a

Armed And Underage Jeffrey Gettleman Analysis
One time my friends and I had a great idea we were going to hide in the bathroom to escape our
classes. But turns out we had a test, and we all failed, so bad things came with that idea. In the articles,
Armed and Underage by Jeffrey Gettleman and The Charge: Genocide by Lydia Polgreen, now others
may think differently, but the claim can be made that bad things come from war, like child soldiers
and genocide. With this claim, i have found the following evidence.
In addition to the claim, one bad outcome of war is child soldiers. According to Armed and Underage
by Jeffrey Gettleman it states, human rights experts estimate that more than 200,000 children
worldwide are still being used as combatants, usually against their will. And it ... Show more content

how people are giving up hope. This connects to the claim that war brings negative outcomes because

according to The Charge: Genocide by Lydia Polgreen it states, Now it consists mostly of ashes;

Social Roles in Society Essay
Social Roles in Society
Social psychology, as defined by the Microsoft Bookshelf, is the branch of human psychology that
deals with the behavior of groups and the influence of social factors on the individual. Social roles are
one of the many sub categories of social psychology. I believe social roles to be the way we, as
individuals, act in certain situations; such as home life, educational and economic statue, peer groups,
etc. The Prison Simulation by Haney, Banks Zimbardo is just one of the vast studies in this area. In
this study we will see how people take roles in life, and in simulated life situations. Social roles are
not fictitious, it is in fact a very real occurrence that many people deal with ever day, whether it be ...

I noticed that the inmates that were sentenced to life acted out much more than the inmates that were
only sentenced for a few years. At the time I took no great thought into this, but after reading this
study I have recalled the prison tour in my mind to critically analyze why this would be. I have come
to the conclusion that the life sentenced prisoners have nothing to lose by acting irrational and making
spontaneous decisions. On the other hand, the inmates with the shorter sentences have something to
look forward to when getting out. They do not necessarily need to act out to obtain attention, that is
not what they are looking for.
While looking on the Internet for yet another social role study, I came upon an old friend that also
happened to be online. I decided to discuss his situation rather than one of which does not effect me as
personally as this. My friend was and I guess still is a victim of alcoholism. My friend Matt is now out
of the house and on his own and his parents are now divorced. Matt and I grew up together, so many
of his pains I felt as well. While he was growing up his father was quite a heavy drinker and at many
times became violent as well as abusive towards Matt, his two younger siblings and his mother. I can

Value Of Respect Research Paper
I believe that respect is the most important value to have in a happy life. Now respect has many
different aspects to it; probably more than any one person can think of. So, I don t claim to cover them
all. Of the ones I could think are four big ones: authority, the environment, and each other s
diversities. Yes, you can count (no matter how bad at math you may claim to be), that was only three.
The fourth is the most important, but I m going to keep it a secret until you learn what I mean about
the other three; just keep it in the back of your mind until then. Let s start with the first you probably
faced in life, authority. From the second you are born, being passed around from family member to
family member, to the first teacher you had, and then to your current boss, you may have realized you
aren t always the one in control. Well, that s okay. Without their wisdom or experience you wouldn t
be where you are today in life. Now I m not saying you have to love or understand the seemingly evil

What I mean is respect the environment of the place you are at. For example, if you are at a swimming
pool, don t pee in it, there is literally a bathroom 20 feet away. Or if you are at a national park and see
a rock where everyone has been engraving their initials into it, don t do it, S.T.U. and P.I.D. are
probably not even in love anymore. In the most common interpretation, our planet is being hurt by our
actions and there are little ways to keep it healthier, such as riding a bike a mile instead of driving to
you the park or waiting until you are at a trashcan to throw that McDonald s cup away. No matter your
belief about how we got here, we have to acknowledge that this earth is a gift and we should treat it as
such. Now, my third point, respect other s

The Five Competitive Forces That Shape Strategy
Central Theme In the article, The Five Competitive Forces that Shape Strategy, Michael Porter argues
that the five forces are an important element for managers and investors in the business industry.
Porter stated that it is important to understand the competitive forces, and their underlying causes
which many companies will use to determine if they will gain profit or not (Porter 80). Companies
determine their profitability of the industry through the level of the force that they face. For instance,
when the forces are favorable, most companies will be profitable. Porter gives a detail description of
the five forces and explains the importance of each force. The five forces are the threats of new
entrants, the power of the buyers, the power of the suppliers, the threats of substitute for products or
services, and the rivalry among existing competitors. Porter believes that a company strategist who
understands the competition extends well beyond existing rivals will detect wider competitive threats
and be better equipped to address them (Porter 93). In other words, when strategists understand the
different forces it will benefit them to make better decisions and to be ready to face the different
challenges between competitors. In the article, Porter s main goal is to present the importance of the
five forces to the audience.
Critical Analysis There are many strengths and weaknesses in this article. One of the major strengths
is that Porter organize his arguments in

Both leaders of North Korea and America do not want to resign the other and they push the conflict to
the highest level. In my opinion, verbal battles between Kim Jong Un and Donald Trump will make
this situation worse than ever before and a war is the last thing we need. Evan Osnos wrote about his

Signs Of Autism Essay
Autism affects many different individuals in today s society. In fact, 1 in 68 people have some form of
Autism Spectrum Disorder ( Autism Fact Sheet ). It affects every race and ethnic group but studies
have shown it is typically shown more in males. Autism indicates a group of complicated
neurodevelopment disorders depicted by repetitive and characteristic patterns of behavior and
struggles with social communication and interaction. There is no exact cause of autism but it is
believed that certain genes are associated with the disorder. Researchers have noticed some differences
in some regions of the brain. It is also believed that genetics and environment may play a role.
Typically the signs and symptoms of autism are noticed during the first three years of a child s life (
Autism Symptoms ). The signs of autism vary from case to case but there are some present in most.
These are how an individual acts regarding social interactions, verbal or nonverbal communication,
and a limited interest in activities or play. Laura Hensley noticed the signs and symptoms when her
son Clancy was eighteen months old. When we moved to Iowa, Clancy stopped talking. Another sign
was that he got into Thomas the Train and he would line them all up by color and size, describes
Hensley. Other signs included his speech, eye contact, and how he reacts ... Show more content on

we ve also made include scheduling. We have one for home and a picture one for school because part

The Zoo Hypothesis
Possible Solutions Quarantine We really don t know anything about what kind of life may be out
there. There is no way of knowing if other civilisations would even welcome contact with us. It would
be completely reasonable to suggest that maybe they are lying low, hoping we don t ever notice them.
After all, we could be hostile and a threat to them for all they know. Once we have located them, they
may feel that it is possible we could come to visit, bring advanced weaponry and possibly even
diseases, contaminating their planet (AstroBioWeb). I believe this is an unlikely scenario, as I think it
would be highly unlikely for us to cross such a large distance (if it was even possible sometime in the
future) simply to attack or try to colonise a planet that has nothing to do with us. The Zoo Hypothesis
This hypothesis was posed by John Ball in 1973 (Ball, 1973). It basically states that we are being
observed by one or more civilisations for scientific purposes, or even as a novelty. It that was the case,
they would not want to disturb our natural behaviour and environment. This would suggest that they
are far more advanced than us, and see us as the equivalent of perhaps apes at best. They might even
regard us as being an endangered species, considering our slowly declining environment and general
hostility towards each other. This solution is of particular concern. If this is truly the case, what would
happen if we were successful in achieving interstellar travel, thus

Babe Ruth s Accomplishments
I ve heard people say that the trouble with the world is that we haven t enough great leaders. I think
we haven t enough great followers. I have stood side by side with great thinkers surgeons, engineers,
economists, men who deserve a great following and have heard the crowd cheer me instead. I love my
profession. I like playing baseball. I love the fans too, but I think they cheered too loudly, and they
cheered for the wrong man. This was quoted by Babe Ruth explaining why he isn t selfish and why he
thinks that others aren t honored enough for their positions. Leading up to Ruth s career, he had a

Throughout Ruth s baseball career, he has received many awards. From 1933 1934 he was on the
American All Star League Team. In 1936, he was placed in the national baseball hall of fame. In
addition, Babe Ruth is inspiring in many different ways. Primary, he teaches us that if we follow our

transitioned from a poor, bad life to living in the riches and having a great life just because he

Light Absorption Research Paper
Light is said to be the portion of the electromagnetic spectrum that all people can see. Many people
call this portion visible light, and know that visible light has a range of many colors. These main
colors are usually said to be red, orange, blue, indigo, violet, yellow, and green. The colors of different
objects are determined by the interaction between light and the electrons of the atoms that make up an
object. The object is made up of specific wavelengths of white light unique to the object, and it
absorbs the light according to its wavelengths. Molecules have many states, two of these states, are
states where the electron is excited and neutral when it is originally found. Molecules and atoms can
only absorb light when the energy of a photon matches the energy difference between these two states.

The color wheel relates the wavelengths of transmitted light to absorbed light. Objects absorb different
amounts of white light, which is what makes an object have its unique color. The white light is what in
turn makes color. While there were many theories throughout history on light, the first theories about
light were created by the Ancient Greeks. These theories tried to describe light as a ray which moved
directionally to a point. Pythagoras was best known for his theorem of the right triangle that was made
up of the assumption that vision was made from light rays that came out of a person s eye and hit an
object. This is true in many senses. In reflection, when light hits a smooth surface, it hits then bounces
off. A reflected ray always comes off the surface of a material at an angle equal to the angle at which
the incoming ray hit the surface. However, when light bounces off a rough surface, light reflects at
numerous angles

Frederic Bastiat Essay
Frederic Bastiat (1801 1850) was a French classical economist, statesman, and author. He did most of
his writing during the years before and after the Revolution of February 1848. This was the period
when France was rapidly turning to complete socialism. As a Deputy to the Legislative Assembly, Mr.
Bastiat was studying and explaining each socialist fallacy as it appeared. And he explained how
socialism must inevitably degenerate into communism. But most of his countrymen chose to ignore
his logic. The fight against socialism drained Bastiat s already fading energy, and by 1850 a mere six

Many philosophers have made important contributions to the discourse on liberty, Bastiat among
them. But Bastiat s greatest contribution is that he took the discourse out of the ivory tower and made
ideas on liberty so clear that even the unlettered can understand them. Like others, Bastiat recognized
the greatest single threat to liberty is government.
Law, according to Bastiat, is the collective organization of the individual right to lawful defense (pg.
2). Bastiat starts off saying that the basic gifts man has from God, it exists only to do what individuals
have a right to do: protect their persons, their liberties and their properties. Bastiat gave the same
rationale for government as did our Founders, saying, Life, liberty and property do not exist because
men have made laws. On the contrary, it is the fact that life, liberty and property existed beforehand
that caused men to make laws in the first place. No finer statements of natural or God given rights
have been made than those found in our Declaration of Independence and The Law. The law was
created to ensure that individuals in society were allowed to use these gifts. Justice is achieved only
when injustice is absent (pg. 12).When the law is used for more than these three goals, the law
becomes an instrument of injustice. Similar to the use of the law is abused by the greed and false
philanthropy

Twelve Habits Of Christian Thought
The Apostle Paul says that we should rejoice always (Phil. 4:4). The basis of our attitude is not on our
circumstances but on the character of God. Philippians 4: 8 9, tells us what we should have our minds
set on. It will take verbal and mental discipline as Christians to develop the characteristics of a healing
church.
Six Habits of Christian Thought
The author lists the six commandments Paul states that form the habit of Christian thought. (1) Think
about those things. Let go of the negatives and have Christ like thoughts. (2) Think with discernment.
Think on Jesus the Truth not on facts alone. Not all facts are true. (3) Think honorable thoughts. These
thoughts dwell on praise, worship, and thanksgiving. We are God s workmanship to which we owe
only praise and thanksgiving. (4) Think just thoughts. All our thoughts should be without prejudice
and bigotry. We are to think rightly and justly about all situations, giving everyone the same chance in
our consideration of them. (p. 165) (5) Think untainted thoughts. Think thoughts from the Spirit, not
mindless, vain meditation. (6) Have an eye for the beauty around you. Life is more than facts and
statistics. There is beauty and artistic value in creation. We are to marvel at God s handiwork. We are
to think like Jesus thought, which is different from the world. It takes discipline to become a healing
church.

Racial Feelings Of Chicago, Illinois
Racial feelings in Chicago, Illinois are very similar today to how they were in the 1950s. The Younger
family from Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin in the Sun was the epitome of a lower class, black family
during that time. They dealt with the hardships of never having enough money and losing family
happiness due to their lack of wealth. Modern day Chicago can easily be compared to Chicago from
the mid 1900s because of the ever growing amount of poor blacks and the poverty riven African
American neighborhoods throughout the city. Black poverty is still as depressing and common now as
it was half a century ago, and this is due to many reasons. The mentality of poor people is comparable
to Walter Younger s mindset from A Raisin in the Sun and his dreams reflect how people today in his
same situation might dream. Overall, the city of Chicago by itself has not improved feelings of racial
equality much since Hansberry s novel. Chicago still reflects a racist country and will continue to
reflect that for many years to come. Racial Segregation in Chicago Not only was racial segregation in
the city of Chicago, Illinois very evident during the 1950s but also today in modern America. Lorraine
Hansberry s 1966 novel A Raisin in the Sun is full of the inequality that African Americans faced in
Chicago. The Younger family lives in a poor, black neighborhood, in a small apartment where Ruth

The White Heron depicts a story of a little girl who leads a life of respect and love of nature rather
than that of fortune. Early on in the story, she meets a boy who is a self proclaimed ornithologist, a
scientist that studies birds. He is willing to pay ten dollars to whomever can show him the White
Heron he had once seen. It is now up to Sylvia, the young girl, to make a decision either in favor of
the ornithologist or the white heron. Ultimately, she will be making a decision to acquiesce to male
dominance or not. The pine tree in which Sylvia climbs in order to see the white heron up close can be
represented as a symbol of life. Now she thought of the tree with a new excitement, for why, if one
climbed it at break of day, could not one see all the world, and easily discover whence the white heron
flew (Jewett 466). The tree actually takes on the characteristics of an animal, when Sylvia is
climbing the tree and the twigs scratch her with angry like talons (Jewett 466). Sylvia continues on
this obstacle up and up the tree, and continuing on towards her revelation. The birds of the forest
begin to sing louder and louder as Sylvia climbs, meaning she is coming ever so closely to the top of
the tree or the climax of her new life. She finally sees the white heron and is eager with anticipation to
tell the boy of the path to find it. Sylvia ventures home and the young ornithologist and Sylvia s
grandmother are both waiting for her. He can make them rich with money;

Swot Zapata Research Paper
I. Introduction The Mexican Revolution, which broke out in 1910, was the first social revolution of
the 20th century and marked the entry of Mexico into modernity. In Mexico, the people were opposed
to the situation in which the people were living. At the political level, General Porfirio Diaz was re
elected in all pseudo elections that were presented in the country; there wasn t a democracy. At the
social level there were two classes, the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. The peasants had no land for
planting and were constantly victims of repression on the part of the landowners. The armed
movement thrives as a result of the actions of the dictatorship of General Porfirio Diaz. The revolution
had several leaders, both political and military. One of the most prominent was Emiliano Zapata the
Warlord of the South. Zapata stood out as a charismatic leader of strong character and unbreakable
will. Zapata was a man of values whose initiative and communication earned the will and confidence

Play-Based Learning Case
1. Scenario Seven depicts Ryder, a three year old boy, gravitating towards the warm, beautiful sunlight
streaming through the windows into the early childhood centre that he attends. Ryder is seen
delighting, non verbally, in his discovery of shadows and his ability to use his body, and the sunlight,
to create shadows and patterns by moving his body. Ryder, through his body language, exhibits
curiosity about, and a developing awareness of, cause and effect and the relationships between light,
his body and the shadows being cast on the floor. Ryder is displaying typical cognitive development

By focusing on light and natural resources, and using concepts discussed by Malaguzzi (1994), play
based learning experiences were constructed that encouraged the children to use the environment to
learn autonomously. The free flowing and harmonious learning environments, both indoor and
outdoor, are a central component of the learning and teaching relationship. They encourage the
children to investigate, explore and interact with the resources, and each other, independently and
collaboratively. The experiences reflect the educator using the natural environment as a provocation,
an invitation to explore and engender excitement and interest. The use of the natural environment
provides multiple benefits for children from stimulating social interaction, development of
independence and improving children s cognitive development (White, as cited in Strong Wilson Ellis,
2007, p. 43).
The Reggio Emilia inspired learning experiences, arising from the scenario, are also designed to meet
a number of learning outcomes detailed in the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) (Department
of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations [DEEWR], 2009). The learning experiences
provides the children with opportunities to develop their emerging autonomy and interdependence
whilst learning to interact with others thereby

What Impact Did Ulysses S. Grant Have On The Civil War
Ulysses S. Grant What do you think of when someone mentions the Civil War? Slaves? Abraham
Lincoln? Probably not some of the specifics, right? What about some of the generals, like Ulysses S.
Grant. Maybe you ve heard that name before, maybe not, but Grant was pretty important in the Civil
War. What impact did Ulysses S. Grant have on the impact of the Civil War? , you may ask. Well,
worry not my friend I am here to answer that question. Our man of the hour began his life on April
27th, 1822 in Point Pleasant, Ohio. Originally, Grant was named Hiram Ulysses Grant. He changes it
eventually for reasons we ll talk about later. Now, little Hiram Grant was generally a pleasant child.

A Sociological Perspective
Summary
Economy and State: A Sociological Perspective, written by Nina Bandelj and Elizabeth Sowers,
explains the economic foundation of the state by discussing the governance of property and money, in
correlation to labor and firms, ending in economic development and internationalization/globalization.
Bandelj and Sowers , target audiences for this book seemed to be intended for those individuals
wanting to learn the basics of economics from an economic sociology perspective allowing readers to
broaden their minds, while drawing comparisons from the political economy and economic sociology.
This book was written with clear language for the audience to understand and comprehend the large
amount of traditional economic theory information within its condensed size, as well as introducing a
sense of economic sociology in to the mix. Both Bandelj and Sowers separate their book into eight
chapters: ranging from property and money, labor and firms, development and the international global
economy, before its conclusion. Authors Nina Bandelj and Elizabeth Sowers, provide a wonderful
analysis between economy and sociology by breaking down the study of economics including the
production, distribution, consumption, and exchange of goods and services and its direct correlation to
social networks, cultural reality so to speak, and political and social forces. The authors address the
theoretical perspectives of economy state relations while also applying the sociological

Childhood Obesity Analysis
Parents Child Caretakers Obesity in America is literally a growing problem, affecting every age group.
Children are the most venerable group because they have no control over where they have dinner or
how often they have fast food. Parents and guardians make decisions about food and are responsible
for the health of children. Childhood obesity has more than doubled in the last twenty years. This is
concerning because Type Two diabetes is a horrible, crippling disease that is affecting children and
teens dramatically whereas the disease was primarily seen in adults. Children are said to have a shorter
life span than their parents for the first time ever. In the United States sixty six percent of adults are

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, childhood obesity effects more than 9
million children and teenagers between the ages of 6 19 in the United States with another 8 million

the country and organize their efforts to prevent this disease. One such organization is the Leadership
for Healthy Communities, which is a national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
(RWJF). The RWJF holds summits nationwide events calling on policy leaders nationwide to advance
healthy eating and active living options in their communities. According to the RWJF, a special
emphasis has been placed on collaborative state and community policy approaches that address
childhood obesity among vulnerable populations disproportionately affected by the epidemic. The
RWJF also has a panel, which consists of its chairmen, doctors, lawyers, but more importantly
politicians on the state and federal level who are taking childhood obesity head on and working with
organizations like the RWJF to promote healthy, cost effective change in communities nationwide.

A Look into Cleopatra’s Early Life Influences
For Rome, who had never condescended to fear any nation or people, did in her time fear two human
beings; one was Hannibal, and the other was a woman (Lefkowitz and Fant 126). During a time
dominated by male rulers, Cleopatra VII Philopator (69 BCE 31 BCE), the Last Pharaoh of Egypt,
stood out among them all. With Egypt s wealth at her disposal, she was incomparably richer than
anyone else (Schiff 2). The amount of power a ruler had at the time of Cleopatra s existence depended
highly on the level of financial stability. However, wealth was not all Cleopatra was known for. She
exhibited high militant leadership skills equal to that of her male counterparts to keep Egypt a
prosperous country.

She was intelligent, spoke nine or ten languages (Roberts 126). As a result, she would not need
interpreters when commanding. Rather she would be able to communicate directly.
Furthermore, another influence that determined Cleopatra s rule as queen stems from her lineage. As
has been discovered, the Ptolemies, the family Cleopatra belonged to, were not Egyptian. Rather, they
were Macedonian Greek. After Alexander the Great s death in 323 BCE, his empire was divided
among his generals (Harold, Anton, Duca, Henefin 28). Ptolemy Soler I claimed Egypt and thus the
Ptolemaic Dynasty flourished. However, it has been noted that during the reign of the first three
Ptolemaic Pharaohs had Egypt prospered (Harold, et. al 28). Thereafter, Cleopatra, daughter to
Ptolemy XII Auletes and possibly Cleopatra V Tryphaena of Egypt, inherited an Egypt in decline
(Harold, et al 28). It would be up to her to restore Egypt.
Yet, it was not until after the death of her father in 51 BCE that Cleopatra ascended to the throne and
married with her brother Ptolemy XIII, who was ten at the time. The marriage happened as per
Egyptian custom and as instructed in her father s will (Roberts 126). Although Cleopatra was married
to her brother, a male with inherent power in the Egyptian culture, he was kept firmly in the
background (Roberts 126). With the opportunity granted to her by her father s death, she made
decisions of state (Roberts 126). Unfortunately, Cleopatra taking over

Comparing The Book And The 1932 Film Murders
After reading and watching both the book and the 1932 film Murders in the Rue Morgue. It is evident
that the film went mostly it s own way, taking only small bits from Poe s actual story, discarding many
important details.
The book starts out with an intricate explanation of the analytical mind. As that is our introduction; it
floats into our narrator recounting his acquaintance with another named: C. Auguste Dupin, whom our
narrator recalls was very fond of books; having met him at an obscure library in the Rue Montmartre,
they were searching for the same unique text. This accidental meeting brought them closer together,
seeing each other frequently. Our narrator is fascinated with his new friend s family history, which he
was told many times. And is enthralled by Dupin s love of literature. It is then detailed how our
narrator gives himself up to Dupin s flights of fancy, letting himself be sucked into a vortex of fey
dreams. Prone to prowling the streets at night, conversing amongst themselves. He then praises his
friend s analytical inclination, his skills of observation proved by a little chat about a play and a
fruiterer. While they are taking one of their many jaunts around Paris, the pair come across a
newspaper describing a ghoulish unsolved case involving the murder of a woman: Lady L Espanaye
and her daughter Camille. It seems the Madame was found with her neck so ravaged, her head just fell
off when moved. Her daughter cruelly contorted and shoved up a

Plato Illusion
Plato furthers his argument that initially the prisoner would resort back to his original frame of
thought because he is baffled by what he is seeing. The prisoner being liberated is new knowledge and
ideas being shed upon him. The sharp pains the prisoner is suffering from is the new information he
has been enlightened with and is now clashing with his old beliefs. The illusion he saw before was his
old beliefs and knowledge. It is referred to as an illusion because this new knowledge has now taken
place of his old knowledge, replacing it and ultimately making it non existent, hence the word illusion.
The clearer vision this prisoner gained is the enlightenment this new knowledge has given him, and he

future importance of the petrol industry, all of which allow for a good character defining moment. His
main motivation and driving force through out the series is his own ambition to gain money, power

oppression, it goes even deeper than that: in 1931 Lansky has achieved more than he could have

Understanding the physical appearance of Frankenstein from Shelly s novel a few notable things that
makes the creature essential in being the monster is how it looks. Shelly s description of the creature is
that of one who is assembled from dead body parts put together in making up a sole person or
individual. In Frankenstein (1931) it is seen that Henry Frankenstein searches graveyards and
assembles from numerous corpses his creation before bringing it to life. It can be said that James
Whale sticks to the original story in how the director adapted this process. James Whale s

The Significance of Pulpit in the Church Architectural Settings
Introduction
The term Church Architecture refers to the architectural buildings of the Christian churches and
cathedrals, which evolved over two thousand years. The churches have witnessed varied styles of
architectural buildings from the early period of the birth of Christianity till today. Some of the most
significant church architectural buildings are from the church architectural designs of Byzantium,
Romanesque Abbey churches, Gothic Cathedrals, and Renaissance Basilicas. Till today, the

The word Pulpit is derived from the Latin word pulpitum meaning platform or an elevated stand of
stone or wood for the preacher or reader to stand on. Pulpit is essentially a place where something
important happens in the church. Generally in almost all churches, pulpit is used for preaching,
whereas in some churches pulpit is used both for preaching and reading of scripture. In early Christian
times, ambo was used for preaching instead of pulpit, and lectern, a speaker s stand in the church,
which means to read was used for reading scriptures by laymen, and also used for announcements, and
to lead congregation prayers.
Every Christian believes that God speaks to us through the proclamation of his Word; hence, the place
where the Word is proclaimed should be one of the focal points in the church. Some argues that it is
not essential and necessary to have two places for proclaiming the Word (i.e. pulpit and lectern). In
fact, many people prefer to have only one place for proclaiming the Word since having two platforms
confuses the congregation and also having lectern and pulpit were often limited to wealthy
congregations since many cannot afford it. Robert S. Brightman writes on the pulpit and lectern

Daisy Buchanan of The Great Gatsby and Brett Ashley of The Sun Also Rises
Written right after the publication of Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, Hemingway s The Sun Also Rises

Hemingway s portrayal of his heroine, Brett Ashley. Numerous critics have noted and discussed the
similarities between Brett and Daisy Buchanan, and rightly so; but the two women also have
fundamental differences. Compared to Daisy, Brett is a more rounded, complex character, and
Hemingway has treated her with more sympathy than Fitzgerald has with Daisy. Some similarities

Gatsby sinks into it, allowing his imagination to exaggerate until finally,
The colossal vitality of his illusion ... had gone beyond her, beyond everything. He had thrown himself
into it with a creative passion, adding to it all the time, decking it out with every bright feather that
drifted his way. No amount of fire or freshness can challenge what a man will store up in his ghostly
heart (101).
That dream is also empty because Daisy is empty. Fitzgerald depicts her as an empty, useless and
dependent female who ultimately lacks definition. Whereas Gatsby works to pursue Daisy, Nick has a
regular job, and even Jordan has her tournaments; Daisy does not have a purpose, a profession, or
even a talent for anything. Her purposelessness is apparent in this scene with Jordan Baker:
We ought to plan something, yawned Miss Baker, sitting down at the table as if she were getting into
bed.
All right, said Daisy. What ll we plan? She turned to me helplessly. What do people plan? (16)
More literally, Daisy ruins Gatsby by killing Myrtle Wilson and letting him take the blame for it, thus
ultimately causing his death. Of course, one may argue that Gatsby himself is willing to take the
blame for her:
Was Daisy driving?
Yes, he said after a moment, but of course I ll say I was. (151)

A Natural History Of The Homo Sapien
A Natural History of the
HOMO SAPIEN
160,000 years ago, a new species was born. Today, I am excited to say that I am a part of that species;
we all are. In fact, there are approximately 7 billion of us on this planet; Homo sapiens, that is who we
are. We evolved in Africa and like many other early humans that were living at this time, we gathered
and hunted food. But as time went on, we evolved, as to better suit our forever changing environment.
Humans have the capacity to adapt to any given situation and over time our behaviors change, as to
better suit said situation. Our behaviors is what allows us to challenge our environment in any unstable
circumstance and come out on the other side. After all, we are just trying to survive.
Classification Classifying an organism is no easy task. In order to classify an organism, we must use a
hierarchical system. The hierarchical system was invented by Carolus Linnaeus and includes many
aspects, such as an organisms kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and lastly, species. So
technically, species is what the organism is; is is it s classification. You see, there are different ways in
which we define a species. In the case of the Homo sapien, species is a sexually reproducing organism
which in other words allows other members of said species to reproduce amongst themselves creating
viable offspring that can do the same. Although we call the Homo sapien a human , the more scientific
term is whom we really are.

The earth was formed over 6 billion years ago, yet in terms of time, only recently was a Western
civilization formed.
Even more recently, the Americas were accidentally discovered, and they would prove to drastically
influence and alter the future of earth.
The Shaping of North America
The Americas were formed from the single supercontinent that contained all of the earth s landmass.
Some 225 million years ago, a single supercontinent contained all the world s dry land chunks of
terrain began to separate, thus creating the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans, as well as forming the
great continents that would be Europe, Asia,, Australia, Africa, Antarctica, and the Americas
North America was shaped through a multitude of natural occurrences.
Continued shifting and folding of the earth s crust thrust up mountain ranges.
When the glaciers finally melted about 10,000 years ago, they created and the North American

Although it is uncertain, many believe that the glaciers of the Ice Age melted and gave way to the

Moral Standars The moral standards approach is the approach that focuses on three dimensions of the impact of the proposed action: (1) whether it provides a net benefit to society; (2) whether it is fair to all stakeholders; and (3) whether it is right. The moral standards approach was developed by Professor Manuel Velasquez in 1992. Although some overlap some of the first approach, the focus is less company centred, and is better suited for the evaluation of the decisions where stakeholders are the ones who are impacted, outside the company is most likely to be severe. I have come to the conclusion that the life sentenced prisoners have nothing to lose by acting irrational and making spontaneous decisions. On the other hand, the inmates with the shorter sentences have something to look forward to when getting out. They do not necessarily need to act out to obtain attention, that is not what they are looking for. Now respect has many different aspects to it; probably more than any one person can think of. So, I don t claim to cover them all. Of the ones I could think are four big ones: authority, the environment, and each other s diversities. Yes, you can count (no matter how bad at math you may claim to be), that was only three. The fourth is the most important, but I m going to keep it a secret until you learn what I mean about the other three; just keep it in the back of your mind until then. Let s start with the first you probably faced in life, authority. From the second you are born, being passed around from family member to family member, to the first teacher you had, and then to your current boss, you may have realized you aren t always the one in control. Well, that s okay. Without their wisdom or experience you wouldn t be where you are today in life. Porter stated that it is important to understand the competitive forces, and their underlying causes which many companies will use to determine if they will gain profit or not (Porter 80). Companies determine their profitability of the industry through the level of the force that they face. For instance, when the forces are favorable, most companies will be profitable. Porter gives a detail description of the five forces and explains the importance of each force. The five forces are the threats of new entrants, the power of the buyers, the power of the suppliers, the threats of substitute for products or services, and the rivalry among existing competitors. Porter believes that a company strategist who understands the competition extends well beyond existing rivals will detect wider competitive threats and be better equipped to address them (Porter 93). In other words, when strategists understand the different forces it will benefit them to make better decisions and to be ready to face the different challenges between competitors. There is no way of knowing if other civilisations would even welcome contact with us. It would be completely reasonable to suggest that maybe they are lying low, hoping we don t ever notice them. After all, we could be hostile and a threat to them for all they know. Once we have located them, they may feel that it is possible we could come to visit, bring advanced weaponry and possibly even diseases, contaminating their planet (AstroBioWeb). I believe this is an unlikely scenario, as I think it would be highly unlikely for us to cross such a large distance (if it was even possible sometime in the future) simply to attack or try to colonise a planet that has nothing to do with us. The Zoo Hypothesis This hypothesis was posed by John Ball in 1973 (Ball, 1973). It basically states that we are being observed by one or more civilisations for scientific purposes, or even as a novelty. It that was the case, they would not want to disturb our natural behaviour and environment. This would suggest that they are far more advanced than us, and see us as the equivalent of perhaps apes at best. • 14. Light Absorption Research Paper Light is said to be the portion of the electromagnetic spectrum that all people can see. Many people call this portion visible light, and know that visible light has a range of many colors. These main colors are usually said to be red, orange, blue, indigo, violet, yellow, and green. The colors of different objects are determined by the interaction between light and the electrons of the atoms that make up an object. The object is made up of specific wavelengths of white light unique to the object, and it absorbs the light according to its wavelengths. Molecules have many states, two of these states, are states where the electron is excited and neutral when it is originally found. Molecules and atoms can only absorb light when the energy of a photon matches the energy difference between these two states. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The color wheel relates the wavelengths of transmitted light to absorbed light. Objects absorb different amounts of white light, which is what makes an object have its unique color. These theories tried to describe light as a ray which moved directionally to a point. Pythagoras was best known for his theorem of the right triangle that was made up of the assumption that vision was made from light rays that came out of a person s eye and hit an object. This is true in many senses. In reflection, when light hits a smooth surface, it hits then bounces off. Like others, Bastiat recognized the greatest single threat to liberty is government. Law, according to Bastiat, is the collective organization of the individual right to lawful defense (pg. 2). Bastiat starts off saying that the basic gifts man has from God, it exists only to do what individuals have a right to do: protect their persons, their liberties and their properties. Bastiat gave the same rationale for government as did our Founders, saying, Life, liberty and property do not exist because men have made laws. On the contrary, it is the fact that life, liberty and property existed beforehand that caused men to make laws in the first place. No finer statements of natural or God given rights have been made than those found in our Declaration of Independence and The Law. The law was created to ensure that individuals in society were allowed to use these gifts. What impact did Ulysses S. Grant have on the impact of the Civil War? , you may ask. Well, worry not my friend I am here to answer that question. Our man of the hour began his life on April 27th, 1822 in Point Pleasant, Ohio. Originally, Grant was named Hiram Ulysses Grant. He changes it eventually for reasons we ll talk about later. A Look into Cleopatra’s Early Life Influences For Rome, who had never condescended to fear any nation or people, did in her time fear two human beings; one was Hannibal, and the other was a woman (Lefkowitz and Fant 126). During a time dominated by male rulers, Cleopatra VII Philopator (69 BCE 31 BCE), the Last Pharaoh of Egypt, stood out among them all. With Egypt s wealth at her disposal, she was incomparably richer than anyone else (Schiff 2). The amount of power a ruler had at the time of Cleopatra s existence depended highly on the level of financial stability. However, wealth was not all Cleopatra was known for. As has been discovered, the Ptolemies, the family Cleopatra belonged to, were not Egyptian. Rather, they were Macedonian Greek. After Alexander the Great s death in 323 BCE, his empire was divided among his generals (Harold, Anton, Duca, Henefin 28). Ptolemy Soler I claimed Egypt and thus the Ptolemaic Dynasty flourished. However, it has been noted that during the reign of the first three Ptolemaic Pharaohs had Egypt prospered (Harold, et. al 28). Thereafter, Cleopatra, daughter to Ptolemy XII Auletes and possibly Cleopatra V Tryphaena of Egypt, inherited an Egypt in decline (Harold, et al 28). It would be up to her to restore Egypt. Yet, it was not until after the death of her father in 51 BCE that Cleopatra ascended to the throne and married with her brother Ptolemy XIII, who was ten at the time. The marriage happened as per Egyptian custom and as instructed in her father s will (Roberts 126). Although Cleopatra was married to her brother, a male with inherent power in the Egyptian culture, he was kept firmly in the background (Roberts 126). It is evident that the film went mostly it s own way, taking only small bits from Poe s actual story, discarding many important details. The book starts out with an intricate explanation of the analytical mind. As that is our introduction; it floats into our narrator recounting his acquaintance with another named: C. Auguste Dupin, whom our narrator recalls was very fond of books; having met him at an obscure library in the Rue Montmartre, they were searching for the same unique text. This accidental meeting brought them closer together, seeing each other frequently. Our narrator is fascinated with his new friend s family history, which he was told many times. And is enthralled by Dupin s love of literature. It is then detailed how our narrator gives himself up to Dupin s flights of fancy, letting himself be sucked into a vortex of fey dreams. Prone to prowling the streets at night, conversing amongst themselves. He then praises his friend s analytical inclination, his skills of observation proved by a little chat about a play and a fruiterer. The word Pulpit is derived from the Latin word pulpitum meaning platform or an elevated stand of stone or wood for the preacher or reader to stand on. Pulpit is essentially a place where something important happens in the church. Generally in almost all churches, pulpit is used for preaching, whereas in some churches pulpit is used both for preaching and reading of scripture. In early Christian times, ambo was used for preaching instead of pulpit, and lectern, a speaker s stand in the church, which means to read was used for reading scriptures by laymen, and also used for announcements, and to lead congregation prayers. Every Christian believes that God speaks to us through the proclamation of his Word; hence, the place where the Word is proclaimed should be one of the focal points in the church. Some argues that it is not essential and necessary to have two places for proclaiming the Word (i.e. pulpit and lectern). In fact, there are approximately 7 billion of us on this planet; Homo sapiens, that is who we are. We evolved in Africa and like many other early humans that were living at this time, we gathered and hunted food. But as time went on, we evolved, as to better suit our forever changing environment. Humans have the capacity to adapt to any given situation and over time our behaviors change, as to better suit said situation. Our behaviors is what allows us to challenge our environment in any unstable circumstance and come out on the other side. After all, we are just trying to survive. Classification Classifying an organism is no easy task. In order to classify an organism, we must use a hierarchical system. The hierarchical system was invented by Carolus Linnaeus and includes many aspects, such as an organisms kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and lastly, species. So technically, species is what the organism is; is is it s classification. You see, there are different ways in which we define a species. In the case of the Homo sapien, species is a sexually reproducing organism which in other words allows other members of said species to reproduce amongst themselves creating viable offspring that can do the same.
