Cloning Essay
Cloning
Cloning is an unethical action that should not be tampered with physically in any animal form
regardless of what it is. This is a genetically engineered process by humans, in which, perfectly
generated genes from someone or something is copied into its own life form to be an exact replica. In
the article Calves cloned to produce drugs there are two cows involved with cloning. People should
not be tampering with this, but letting God create people and animals the way he has it planned out to
be. Not to mention, no two or more life forms should ever be exactly alike with the exact same genes
(except for plants who are that way anyhow). With this happening to animals now and evolving
toward humans, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No one should ever try and alter genes to any animal coming into this world, therefore in this news
article, the cows should have never been cloned. In an article in Time magazine, Richard Seed (a well
educated man that graduated from Harvard)
Page 2 wanted to start up a commercial cloning clinic. As soon as that was released to public,
President Clinton blasted the idea as untested and unsafe and morally unacceptable (Nash 58). People
around the country reacted nervous and uneasy. This was an example of one person that has the desire
and knowledge to do such a thing as this. If we don t stop him now, then there will be many more
doctors who will follow and set up this idea of cloning around the world. Then the next thing you
know, there will be hundreds of people identical and healthy everywhere. There is nothing wrong with
the people being healthy, but not becoming that way from cloning. Being healthy should be our job as
humans to keep up with our own body. As the article continued, Seed posed his whole idea of opening
the clinic from his interest in biomedicine and discovered a technique for transferring embryos in
cattle (58). This is a whole new idea that cloning of animals can lead to cloning of our human race.
Seed began his work with embryos in cattle and now he has expanded his idea to form a human
cloning clinic. These are the kind of people that are going to want to go further in the cloning of

also the number of times a student accesses the various course areas. After using this method, the
authors find out that the effect of participating and not participating in an online course is different. (

The Impact Of Rapid Population Growth On Brazil s Economy
Population Growth in Brazil
1. The impact of impact of rapid population growth on Brazil s economy.
a. Rapid Human Population Growth
Population growth is the change in population over a given period of time. Research suggests that the
world s poorest countries have faster population grows. Historically, high fertility rates strongly
correlate with poverty. Brazil is estimated to have a population of 203 million people. Brazil s
population is expected to grow to 203 million to 226 million people by year 2050. In the 1970 Brazil
was facing rapid population growth and a food shortage. Research shows that Brazil is the third largest
agricultural producer in the world.

Brazil was one of the fastest growing major economies in the world surpassing that of the United
Kingdom. Brazil s economic growth has however decelerated in 2013 and had almost no liquid
growth throughout 2014. Brazil s economy is expected to grow by only 1.8% in 2015.
Brazil is thought to be one of the fastest growing economies in the Americas. On the world s stage
Brazil is currently the third largest agricultural producing country. The country produces roughly 150
million tons of grains and oilseeds; and thirteen million tons of meat annually.
It should be noted that the Brazilian agriculture has not always been a thriving sector. The country s
increased population growth also elevated the need for food. The elevated need for food created a gap
between what was needed and what was produced. However, in 1972, the Brazilian Agricultural
Research Corporation, better known as Embrapa, was created with the goal being to develop
agriculture in the country through the generation and transfer of knowledge from scientists to farmers.
In today s market, food is Brazil s major export. Brazil s beef and pork supply have multiplied four
times in the past 35 years. In the same period, milk production rose from 2.1 billion gallons per year to
7.03 billion gallons, and the production of vegetables rose from 9 million tons to 19.3 million tons

country s top offenses on more than one occasion. The Mountaineers have allowed just t 27 total

continue to keep getting better. Gibson was referring to his dawgs performance against TCU. Despite
holding the Horned Frogs to just 10 points, the Mountaineer defenders missed tackles and failed to
create turnovers with the exception of redshirt senior cornerback Rasul Douglas interception in the
first quarter. The one thing that I was disappointed in last week was the three turnovers that we got,
only one of them was from our defense, head coach Dana Holgorsen said. Rasul did a great job of
breaking on the ball and ran that thing down 30 some yards. That s been a priority in this room with

I am excited to talk about my unique qualifications for the Office of Sheriff. I bring over 30+ years of
law enforcement experience, as do several of the other candidates. However, unlike the other
candidates, I have and am actively involved with the sheriff s office and the community since I began

effort to meet members of the community in order to understand both their needs and concerns.
It has been my goal to routinely meet with several local business leaders in order to assess those needs

Comparing Martin Luther King Jr. And Pay It Forward
A hero is defined as a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities (Merriam
Webster). It is also is stated that the hero is typically a man. As a woman, I am greatly offended.
Joseph Campbell, however, is less sexist and defines a hero as someone who makes a sacrifice in
order to complete an action. Martin Luther King Jr. sacrificed his life and his family s life while he
was marching the streets against the discrimination of African Americans. Benefitting from his actions
and sacrifice is every colored person in America at that time and since. Martin Luther King Jr. is a
magnificent hero. According to Campbell, Hitler was also an extraordinary hero. Hitler sacrificed his

Assessment Of Stream Health At Conley Run Through The...
Assessment of Stream Health at Conley Run Through the Sampling of Benthic Macroinvertebrates
C.J. Laurin, C.J. Hess, M.C. Taddeo
Introduction
Located near Cowan, Pennsylvania, Conley Run is a tributary of Buffalo Creek that has experienced
severe degradation due to agricultural activity. Specifically, the deposition of large amounts of animal
wastes, pesticides, and fertilizers has resulted in significant eutrophication throughout the stream.
Furthermore, bank degradation associated with the movement of livestock has caused the
displacement of foreign sediments into stream habitats. These factors, among many others, have
caused the lake to be considered impaired by PA DEP. In response, the Buffalo Creek Watershed
Alliance, the the Union County Conservation District, and the Department of Environmental
Protection and Fish and Boat Commision have partnered in an effort to restore stream habitat and
create a riparian buffer to protect the stream.
A separate tributary of Buffalo Creek, known as Stony Run, lies upstream from Conley Run. Since it
is located in a dense wooded area with little to no agricultural interference, Stony Run has experienced
very little degradation in comparison to Conley Run. However, Stony Run also shares a number of
similar physical characteristics with Conley Run, such as discharge, watershed area, elevation and
slope. Therefore, it will serve as a reference stream for this study.
The objective of this study was to assess the stream habitat quality

The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
Coleridge?s Hidden Journal: ?The Rime of the Ancient Mariner? Samuel Taylor Coleridge?s ?Rime of
the Ancient Mariner? is a piece known to many in some vague way or another. An elderly sailor, a
ghostly ship, and the killing of an albatross are all present in many people?s minds, although they may
not entirely know the whole tale. Although well known today, the most activity ?Rime? has seen was
in its beginnings. It has its fair share of praise and criticism, praise given posthumously and criticism
given while Coleridge was alive. Other than criticisms on the actual text, many people claim that
Coleridge borrowed the ideas of others and used them. One must look past the criticisms and negative
reviews on an author?s work in order to truly understand it. This would aid a reader in realizing ?
Rime? is full of religious truths, subtly illustrating Coleridge?s religious opinions. More than this, ?
Rime? is a hidden pathway to Coleridge?s soul, as it allowed him to relieve grief and pain, illustrate
his hopes and dreams, and express his true feelings about his life and the lives of all. Although Samuel
Taylor Coleridge?s ?Rime of the Ancient Mariner? was criticized by many, it was more than a poem
stuffed with borrowed ideas and stitched together with imagination; rather, it was an outlet for
Coleridge, a therapeutical journal which simultaneously brought entertainment to those of his time and
posterity. William Wordsworth, famous poet and close colleague of

Single Mothers Are Not The Problem By Ryan M.
Society, as a whole, tends to look at the world with a set of judgmental eyes. Sometimes, this
judgement is blatantly obvious. Other times, it is not. However, it is always there, hidden in the way
we live our lives. This is because over time society has managed to ingrain into us an almost utopian
set of ideals, meant to force us into a state of normality ideals that we, as humans, are expected to
follow. If we conform to these standards then we pass the test and are considered normal. On the other
hand, if we deviate from those standards, we fail and are considered deviant. Concepts such as gender
socialization, cultural norms, stereotypes, and social status are all used by society to assess our level of
deviance. If found to be deviant, society seeks to isolate the abnormality from the normal population
in an effort to prevent further corruption. Thus, the notion of stigma is born. ... Show more content on

United States, also brings to mind the overall social class system in the country, a subject that is

Essay on Relevancy of the Voting Rights Act in Modern Times
Ratified in 1868, the fourteenth amendment guarantees equal protection of all persons under the law.
In the 1960 s though, African Americans were still being discriminated against because of the color of
their skin. After the broadcast of 600 peaceful African Americans being attacked and beaten after
attempting to cross the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama, President Lynden Johnson decided
it was time to create some legislation to prevent incidences such as this from happening in the future.
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 have been hailed as some of the most
far reaching bills on civil rights in modern times (Schmidt et. al. 2010, 98). At that time in history,

One turning point in the campaign was when African American students gathered in Kelly Ingram
Park to walk across the park. Hoses and dogs were let loose on the crowd, and the media captured it.
After the pictures and news stories were published, many people s opinions on the campaign swayed.
The second event that prompted Kennedy to move forward with the civil rights act was George
Wallace s refusal to integrate the University of Alabama. Then Governor of Alabama, he stood outside
the University, refusing to let two African American students inside until the National Guard was sent
in. Feeling as though something needed to be done, Kennedy stepped in. The day the Senate passed
the Civil Rights Act bill, it was on the front page of the New York Times. The bill had been passed by
a vote 73 to 27, with 46 Democrats and 27 Republicans voting for it, and 21 Democrats and 6
Republicans voting against it. Although it had not yet passed the House, the chairman and ranking

the bill which With the support of these two men, who were responsible for the House bill, acceptance
of the Senate bill in the House is assured (Kenworthy). The bill did pass the house, and Lyndon B.

Examples Of Forgiveness And Reconciliation
The process involved in forgiveness and reconciliation can be very simple or very complex depending
on the situation. One time my friend took money from my wallet, I think it was a $20 bill and I caught
him in the act. We were both in the car and I parked at the mall and I left the car for about five minutes
and when I was walking back I saw in reach into my glove box and take money out of my wallet. I
was shocked and confronted him right away. He said he needed money to pay for his brother back.

The Amish are very religious and spiritual people who believe that forgiveness is more than a good
thing to do but forgiveness is the thing to do. In the Amish perspective the test of faith is action so
forgiving their children s killers with hours of death really shows what kind of people they are and is
very inspiring. The way the Amish people responded to the killings was such a shock. One of the
things I liked about that article was when they said that religion was not used to justify rage but to
inspire goodness, forgiveness, and grace. Even members of the community visited the gunman s
widow and parents. For the majority of us the process of forgiveness is a journey and may never
happen so just the fact they forgave so quickly was viewed as emotionally unhealthy to many.
Forgiveness has a meaning of not holding a grudge and the Amish were very clear that it does not
make the shooter free from punishment. If he were to live the Amish people would have wanted him
to be locked up but not for reasons of revenge but for the purpose of protecting other children. Most
people growing up learn about forgiveness and have experienced it one way or another. People need to
learn that forgiveness is an essential part of healing and is a process towards inner peace. Learning that
forgiveness is an internal process where you identify the hurt and analyze the situation as well as your
emotions helps you rebuild a sense of safety and letting go of a grudge. The whole process of
forgiveness does not usually involve the offender, most of the time not at all until confronted. As
where reconciliation is an internal process where you have a talk with the offender to talk about
various things such as what happened, each other s stories, viewpoints, reasoning s, expressing the
hurt, emotions, and so on. When reconciliation happens it moves beyond forgiveness because it is

However, the Israelites allowed them to control those sections of Canaan. Those that delivered the

Customs Union eliminates trade barriers between member countries and adopts a common external
trade policy. Custom union provides for economic cooperation as in a free trade zone. The primary
difference between customs union and free trade area involves members agreeing to treat trade with
non members countries in a similar manner. Most countries who enter a customs union often desire
further integration in the future. For example, the Andean Pact (for agreements between Bolivia,
Columbia, Ecuador, and Peru).
Common Market allows for the creation of economically integrated markets between member
countries. Trade barriers are removed, as are any restrictions on the movement of labor and capital
between member countries. Like customs union, there is a common trade policy for trade with non
member nations. The primary advantage of common markets is workers are no longer needing visa or
work permit to work in another member country of a common market. For example, The Common
Market for Eastern and Southern Africa or simply known as COMESA.
Economic Union occurs when countries enter into an economic agreement to remove barriers to trade
and adopt common economic policies. European Union or simply known as the EU is an example of
economic union.

Ocean. This changed in 1869 with the opening of the Suez Canal. As a result of this, the Far East and
Australia were opened up to steamers bearing passengers and mail from the Europe. But the effects of
such developments were not immediate. The continued dominance of sail was obvious nowhere better
than in Greenock. When the Suez Canal opened in 1869, only seven of the 182 or so Greenock
registered ships listed in that year s Post Officer Directory were steamers. In the subsequent years, the
registration of additional sail ing ships by Greenock shipowners consistently outnumbered the addition
of new steamers. One such syndicate of shipowners was William Lindsay and Com pany. The
company had long been involved

college parties are depicted in pop culture as the quintessential Friday night.

Comparing Wilfred Owen s Poetry
Wilfred Owen and Lord Alfred Tennyson, are two of the most critically and publically acclaimed war
poets. Both use language and stylistic features to communicate the vastly juxtaposing ideas of the
honour and horror of war.
Owen in both of his poems Dulce et Decorum Est and Anthem for doomed youth showcase the horror
of war. Both poems follow Owen experiences in the trenches in northern France in World War One.
Both poems heavily feature alliteration with watch the white eyes writhe in Dulce et Decorum Est,

The Omnivore s Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals
Michael Pollan. New York: Penguin Group, 2006. 1 411 pp., (ISBN 978 0 14 303858 0).
As omnivorous beings, it seems that is both a blessing and a curse to have such a vast amount of meal
choices to choose from. In The Omnivore s Dilemma, Michael Pollan explores the majority of these
options and offers a sort of guide on how to make a choice. The UC Berkeley Graduate School
journalism professor takes us on an eye opening ride with this book where we find out horrifying
truths on the ingredients of the foods we eat every day and whether our choices benefit our bank
accounts more than they do our health and the earth.
The book is divided into three sections with each section focused on the major players in our diet in
terms of where they come from. The first section (consisting of the first seven chapters) would, of
course, focus the industrial food chain. The second emphasizes alternative foods, mainly organic foods
and the last section is based on hunter gatherer foods. Each section ends with a meal that he consumes
and gives us his thoughts on such.
Pollan begins his journey of exploring the industrial food chain by taking a trip to the supermarket.
Reason being, most Americans, buy their food from such stores. During this trip, he finds what seems
to be a wide variety of choices. However, majority of these choices have one thing in common: they
have corn in them or

Script Analysis Of ( 500 ) Days Of Summer
Script Analysis (500) Days of Summer
(500) Days of Summer is a film directed by Marc Webb. This film is about Tom, a lovesick romantic
who is blinded side when Summer, the love of his life, dumps him. He falls in love with her. But she
doesn t fall in love with him. He shifts back and forth through various periods of their 500 days
together to try to figure out where things went wrong.
For the most part, Webb was successful in translating the emotion of the script to the motion picture.
Each page of the script was about this hopeless romantic named Tom and his recollection of where
things went wrong with his girlfriend, Summer. Tom was retelling the story of how he met Summer in
bits and pieces. These pieces were essentially flashbacks. But in a way, they were transitions that
worked in really well into the film by the use of the amount of days he was with Summer. So instead
of having flashbacks all over the film with poor transitional cues, the screenplay was written with the
number of days that tied in with the event for that certain day. This helped keep the emotions of the
film intact because of the transitional cue cards. Each day was shown on the screen with a picture of a
tree that changes with the mood of scene and Tom. Which is supposed be comparable with the
changes of the seasons which is now the feelings of Tom. Another thing that was omitted from the
film that was in the screenplay was the use of animation for certain parts of the script. In the script,

intrigued her. The picture was of a man standing with his bare barrel of a chest, bare legs, swimming
trunks and a white mane of hair. She thought to herself a White Lion! In the article he said I base my
method on the baby and the cat! She never had a baby or cat but needed to meet this man. Once she

The Jewish cemetery in Victoria, British Columbia
Introduction The Jewish cemetery in Victoria, British Columbia, is located on the corner of Cedar Hill
Road and Fernwood. This historical cemetery remains active within the Jewish community. It was
consecrated in 1860, and the first burial was conducted on March 20, 1861. The individual buried was
murder victim Morris Price. In 2012, the cemetery was victimized by vandalism, which resulted in the
destruction of multiple gravestones. Since, individuals should request approval before visiting the
gated cemetery. The Jewish doctrine believes that sacred items should never be disposed. Therefore,
the cemetery has an open grave where items that are no longer in use are placed. There is a large
monument in the cemetery which commemorates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are also monuments that are more salient and mention the concentration camps that the
individuals survived (Appendix B, Figure 2). The community purposefully includes monument
inscriptions to show an individual s connection to the Holocaust. This action creates tribute to those
who were victims of the Holocaust. This practice also creates a collaborative means for the
community to mourn over these survivors.
What is the role of identity in this process of mourning Holocaust survivors? The Jewish identity is
reintegrated among the monuments through Hebrew inscriptions, the Star of David, and ritual
practices (Appendix B, Figure 3). Eva Reimers (1999), interprets that a collective group identity is
based on the idea of common historical origin (p. 148). This idea is important when analyzing the role
of identity in the process of mourning Holocaust survivors. It illustrates that the formation of identity
is founded on historical events. Therefore, the Holocaust serves as a historical event, which reinforced
the importance of Jewish identity to the Jewish community. The practices of collectively mourning
Holocaust survivors serves as an extension over the generations, which reduce the threat death poses
to reduction of Jewish identity (Reimers, 1999, p.148). Furthermore, remembering the victims of the
Holocaust creates a collective

The Element Of Light And Shadow
This freestanding, subtractive sculpture depicts a young mother comfortably kneeling and cradling her
breastfeeding baby. The young mother s features are very delicate and fair; her gaze falls lovingly
upon the infant who gazes back at her. Both figures are unclothed with minimal space between them.
The scale is similar to that of a real mother and baby, but perhaps a little bit smaller. The sculpture is
carved from a pure white piece of marble without natural flecks of color or coloring additions. The
element of light and shadow helps to make the figures appear very realistic. For instance, gradual,
minute depressions made in the sculpture are affected by shadow and suggest anatomical structure
beneath the figures skin. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Indeed, using perfectly white marble reflects the innocence and purity possessed by the mother and
baby. This quality is also maintained by the texture; there are no impurities or roughness to be found.
In addition to reflecting purity, the smooth texture provides the work with an aura of calming softness
that helps to highlight the serenity of the scene. As mentioned in the description, the use of line is also
very delicate. The artist might have made them sharp and angular, but instead, he used lines that are
curved, gradual, and smooth. This contributes to the loving, gentle quality of the artwork. Another
way that the artist has achieved a peaceful scene is by limiting the principle of movement. One can
imagine the baby wiggling its toes or the young mother slightly readjusting her position, but that is the
extent of the movement suggested. As has been described, the harmonious result of the art elements is
a pure, peaceful, and tender scene. As a young girl, I remember going to the Springville Museum of
Art on a field trip and seeing this work of art. At first, I was a bit shocked due to the mother s lack of
clothing; however, I noticed that her nakedness was not portrayed in a disrespectful way. Despite
being a bit disturbed, I was able to recognize something pure and genuinely sweet about the statue. As
I have revisited this artwork, I ve become less troubled by it and more aware of its tender and even

Tartarsals
At the bottom of the Missouri s streams lives the Lampsilis siliquoidea mussels where it lives out its
life cycle. How it lives it s brilliant life cycle is first by luring a smallmouth bass over to it by
copycatting the movement and the appearance of a Tartars fish tail which is actually the skin of the
mussels which has over time evolved. Once the bass notices the lure and strikes the lure the muscle
spews out a white cloud into the bass s mouth and gills which happen to be thousands of larvaes where
they will live off the bass for nutrients. Its also safer for them to transition from larvae into juvenile
mussels. After a couple of weeks the young mussels abandon the bass dropping leaving the basses
unharmed and unaware of what happened making ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I never imagined they would be using a fish and other smallmouth basses to spread their younglings.
What surprised me the most about these different mussels was how much they have evolved into the
different ways they disrupted their youngs. For example the Higgins eye pearlymussel has flaps that
represent a minnows in their appearance and the mussels move this flap imitating the tail movement of
the minnow. Then the fishes will bite down on the flap making the mussels distribute their larvae into
their gills. Others will take a less freeloading approach and use their tongue like a foot moving up
riverbanks where they spread their larvae making this approach less about waiting for a host but will
not guarantee that most of the larvae will survive until youthhood. I think personally the best way for
these creatures to repopulate is to use the method that the fish snapper use which I think happens to be
the most riskiest too. As I explained before in the early paragraph the snapper will display its flesh and
snapping its mouth closed onto the head of the fish force feeding its larvae into the mouth of the fish.
Overall I thought that this was a very interesting article that brought attention to how mussels

Pioniatric Medicine Personal Statement
Now, more than ever, we are in a desperate need to gather as one people, to share in our common
humanity and seek a brighter hope for our world. The pursuit of podiatric medicine is one that stems
from a lifelong desire to transform lives and communities. As a physician, one has the unique ability
to both heal a sickness while bringing joy and stability into lives by forming life long relationships.
Immersion into podiatry as a field of medicine that I sought to pursue was ignited at a young age
through my father who is a practicing Podiatrist. I look back at my first glance into podiatric medicine

Within my first year at Texas A M I had the opportunity to go on a medical missions trip to Wagusu, a
small boating village in the outskirts of Kenya. Though we were only there for about two and a half
weeks, the imprint the community left on my heart is one for a lifetime. I was at a loss for words
observing the living conditions many of the locals were in. What appeared to be an old cardboard box
was in fact a home for two toddlers who had no family or source of sustenance. I remember a child
approached me with a limp and upon examining his heel; it was evident that a small splinter was left
untreated and the child began to develop a severe infection. We were able to remove the splinter and
supply him with medication and within three days he was back to playing soccer with his friends.
Podiatry as a field offers that unique sense of immediate gratification after treating a patient. The
village of Wagusu tuned my heart to the necessity of servant leadership where as people and
physicians we lower ourselves to meet our brothers and sisters at the place of their own unique

The Effects Of Censorship On The World Essay
The demand for a variety of situations was not only expected of theatre but also other aspects of their
metropoliantin life, shop windows became more and more extravagant and advertisements became
more colourful to fulfil the need for an over stimulant diet (JeJelavich 24). Even what the working
class and bourgeoisie were consuming at the time was a sugar thus stimulate based diet. Around the
turn of the century many observers of German culture concluded that a new performing art was
needed (Jelavich 26) it needed meet a middle ground between the mindlessness of popular variety
shows and the incomprehensible esoterism of avant garde ( Jelavich 26). This is when the form
cabaret came to the rescue. Berlin had over fifty theatres in operation as the wartime censorship had
been abandoned this new edgy artistic movement evolved. The German currency, the Mark, was
significantly devalued compared to many other currencies. It became an attractive destination for
those wanting a thrill seeking and edgy night life, with none of the prohibitions of censorship that may
have been in force at home. Cabaret, as an art form had originated many years before, but under
authoritarian government with censorship. Thus Cabaret became the embodied version of the
metropolitan city within an art form during the Weimar era. Jelavich gives the reader a definition of an
ideal type of cabaret that would have consisted of the following attributes. The cabaret would have

Research Paper On Groundhog
All Eyes on the Groundhog After a long hard winter most, people are looking forward to spring.
Spring brings about new life, budding trees and flowers, birds singing and butterflies flying.
Predicting the end of winter and the beginning of spring has been a long time favorite ritual for many
people. Groundhog Day has been around for centuries. The tradition stems from earlier traditions and
crosses many different cultures. Groundhog Day remains very popular today.
Initially, thousands of years ago people in Europe looked to the badger for the prediction of the arrival
of spring. They watched the badger to determine when to plant their crops. However, since badgers
were scarce in Pennsylvania, the groundhog took over this duty. Tradition holds that if the groundhog
sees his shadow on February 2nd it will be scared and return to its burrow, signaling that there will be
six more weeks of winter. If his shadow is not seen then spring is on its way (Groundhog). The famous
Punxsutawney Phil, gets his name from the Indian name for the location ponksad uteney which means
the town of sandflies (Groundhog 1017).
Prior to Groundhog Day German settlers, performed the tradition of Candlemas Day (Groundhog
2017). Candlemas Day involved clergy blessing candles and distributing them to everyone in the dark
cold days of winter, the people placed a lighted candle in each window of their home (Groundhog
2017). If on February 2nd the sun came out there would be six more Yohe 2

Wing Chun Vs Wing Sawan
Martial arts has a long branching history and the stories of its practitioners have continued to entertain
the public both from the East to the West. In this paper, I will be reviewing two films that focus on the
famous external southern style, Wing Chun. The films are Wing Chun (1994) and Ip Man (2008).
Before analyzing the films, we should briefly look at the directors and actors, and description of the
film franchise. The first film is Wing Chun which came out in 1994, after the television series of the
same name, was directed by Woo Ping Yuen. He was born in Guangzhou China on January 1, 1945,
and his father is also a martial arts director. He is a renowned action choreographer, The Matrix and

He saved Charmy from being harassed by Flying Monkey and mistakes her for Wing Chun. Charmy
was later on kidnapped by the bandits and Wing Chun, with the help of Leung Pok To saved her.
However, Wing Chun had not defeated the Flying Chimpanzee in their match, so, she travelled to find
her master, the Buddhist nun, Ng Miu. After some wise words from her master and clearing the
misunderstanding with Leung Pok To, she returned to the mountains and eventually defeated the
leader of the bandits. The movie ended with the marriage of childhood sweethearts, Wing Chun and
Leung Pok To.
The film did not allude to a lot of historical events which mirrors what we know about the origin of
Wing Chun as they mostly consisted of stories passed down by word of mouth. The most popular
legend states that Yim Wing Chun learned martial arts from a Buddhist nun from the Shaolin temple to
escape marriage from a thug, and passed the practice on to her husband. The film focused on retelling
Wing Chun s various victories. The storytelling style used in the film matches the style of old legends
, which means that the film placed emphasis on the incredulous fights, impossible jumps and
supernatural abilities and pills. It also portrayed cliché story lines with a group of bandits wreaking
havoc and saving a damsel in distress (Charmy). All of this sums up to an epic story of a hero, with
martial arts just as an additional part of the story.
The second film to be analyzed is Wilson Yip s

  • 2. Cloning Essay Cloning Cloning is an unethical action that should not be tampered with physically in any animal form regardless of what it is. This is a genetically engineered process by humans, in which, perfectly generated genes from someone or something is copied into its own life form to be an exact replica. In the article Calves cloned to produce drugs there are two cows involved with cloning. People should not be tampering with this, but letting God create people and animals the way he has it planned out to be. Not to mention, no two or more life forms should ever be exactly alike with the exact same genes (except for plants who are that way anyhow). With this happening to animals now and evolving toward humans, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No one should ever try and alter genes to any animal coming into this world, therefore in this news article, the cows should have never been cloned. In an article in Time magazine, Richard Seed (a well educated man that graduated from Harvard) Page 2 wanted to start up a commercial cloning clinic. As soon as that was released to public, President Clinton blasted the idea as untested and unsafe and morally unacceptable (Nash 58). People around the country reacted nervous and uneasy. This was an example of one person that has the desire and knowledge to do such a thing as this. If we don t stop him now, then there will be many more doctors who will follow and set up this idea of cloning around the world. Then the next thing you know, there will be hundreds of people identical and healthy everywhere. There is nothing wrong with the people being healthy, but not becoming that way from cloning. Being healthy should be our job as humans to keep up with our own body. As the article continued, Seed posed his whole idea of opening the clinic from his interest in biomedicine and discovered a technique for transferring embryos in cattle (58). This is a whole new idea that cloning of animals can lead to cloning of our human race. Seed began his work with embryos in cattle and now he has expanded his idea to form a human cloning clinic. These are the kind of people that are going to want to go further in the cloning of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After using this method, the authors find out that the effect of participating and not participating in an online course is different. ( Sharp Fretchling, 1997). According to Collison et al. (2000), students who contribute in a healthy online community support their community and their contribution becomes evident without expecting rewards from their professor. Brazil s economic growth has however decelerated in 2013 and had almost no liquid growth throughout 2014. Brazil s economy is expected to grow by only 1.8% in 2015. Brazil is thought to be one of the fastest growing economies in the Americas. On the world s stage Brazil is currently the third largest agricultural producing country. The country produces roughly 150 million tons of grains and oilseeds; and thirteen million tons of meat annually. It should be noted that the Brazilian agriculture has not always been a thriving sector. The country s increased population growth also elevated the need for food. The elevated need for food created a gap between what was needed and what was produced. However, in 1972, the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation, better known as Embrapa, was created with the goal being to develop agriculture in the country through the generation and transfer of knowledge from scientists to farmers. In today s market, food is Brazil s major export. Brazil s beef and pork supply have multiplied four times in the past 35 years. • 10. Assessment Of Stream Health At Conley Run Through The... Assessment of Stream Health at Conley Run Through the Sampling of Benthic Macroinvertebrates C.J. Laurin, C.J. Hess, M.C. Taddeo Introduction Located near Cowan, Pennsylvania, Conley Run is a tributary of Buffalo Creek that has experienced severe degradation due to agricultural activity. Specifically, the deposition of large amounts of animal wastes, pesticides, and fertilizers has resulted in significant eutrophication throughout the stream. Furthermore, bank degradation associated with the movement of livestock has caused the displacement of foreign sediments into stream habitats. These factors, among many others, have caused the lake to be considered impaired by PA DEP. In response, the Buffalo Creek Watershed Alliance, the the Union County Conservation District, and the Department of Environmental Protection and Fish and Boat Commision have partnered in an effort to restore stream habitat and create a riparian buffer to protect the stream. A separate tributary of Buffalo Creek, known as Stony Run, lies upstream from Conley Run. Since it is located in a dense wooded area with little to no agricultural interference, Stony Run has experienced very little degradation in comparison to Conley Run. However, Stony Run also shares a number of similar physical characteristics with Conley Run, such as discharge, watershed area, elevation and slope. Therefore, it will serve as a reference stream for this study. The objective of this study was to assess the stream habitat quality ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Samuel Taylor Coleridge?s ?Rime of the Ancient Mariner? is a piece known to many in some vague way or another. An elderly sailor, a ghostly ship, and the killing of an albatross are all present in many people?s minds, although they may not entirely know the whole tale. Although well known today, the most activity ?Rime? has seen was in its beginnings. It has its fair share of praise and criticism, praise given posthumously and criticism given while Coleridge was alive. Other than criticisms on the actual text, many people claim that Coleridge borrowed the ideas of others and used them. One must look past the criticisms and negative reviews on an author?s work in order to truly understand it. This would aid a reader in realizing ? Rime? is full of religious truths, subtly illustrating Coleridge?s religious opinions. More than this, ? Rime? is a hidden pathway to Coleridge?s soul, as it allowed him to relieve grief and pain, illustrate his hopes and dreams, and express his true feelings about his life and the lives of all. Although Samuel Taylor Coleridge?s ?Rime of the Ancient Mariner? was criticized by many, it was more than a poem stuffed with borrowed ideas and stitched together with imagination; rather, it was an outlet for Coleridge, a therapeutical journal which simultaneously brought entertainment to those of his time and posterity. • 12. Single Mothers Are Not The Problem By Ryan M. Society, as a whole, tends to look at the world with a set of judgmental eyes. Sometimes, this judgement is blatantly obvious. Other times, it is not. However, it is always there, hidden in the way we live our lives. This is because over time society has managed to ingrain into us an almost utopian set of ideals, meant to force us into a state of normality ideals that we, as humans, are expected to follow. If we conform to these standards then we pass the test and are considered normal. On the other hand, if we deviate from those standards, we fail and are considered deviant. Concepts such as gender socialization, cultural norms, stereotypes, and social status are all used by society to assess our level of deviance. If found to be deviant, society seeks to isolate the abnormality from the normal population in an effort to prevent further corruption. Thus, the notion of stigma is born. ... Nevertheless, in an article called Single Mothers Are Not the Problem by David Brady, Ryan M. Finnigan, and Sabine Hübgen of The New York Times, this stigma is challenged (2018). This article, which disputes the popular belief that single mothers are a major cause of poverty rates in the United States, also brings to mind the overall social class system in the country, a subject that is thoroughly discussed in chapter eight of the text, Essentials of Sociology: A Down to Earth Approach (Henslin, ... After the broadcast of 600 peaceful African Americans being attacked and beaten after attempting to cross the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama, President Lynden Johnson decided it was time to create some legislation to prevent incidences such as this from happening in the future. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 have been hailed as some of the most far reaching bills on civil rights in modern times (Schmidt et. al. 2010, 98). Despite the advances in steam technology, however, sailing ships continued to dominate the world s oceans for many years to come. Unlike steamers they did not depend on the availability of coal and were simply much cheaper to run. This was particularly evident in voyages to the Far East, reached from Europe via the Cape of Good Hope at Africa s south ern tip and from America across the Indian Ocean. This changed in 1869 with the opening of the Suez Canal. As a result of this, the Far East and Australia were opened up to steamers bearing passengers and mail from the Europe. In The Omnivore s Dilemma, Michael Pollan explores the majority of these options and offers a sort of guide on how to make a choice. The UC Berkeley Graduate School journalism professor takes us on an eye opening ride with this book where we find out horrifying truths on the ingredients of the foods we eat every day and whether our choices benefit our bank accounts more than they do our health and the earth. The book is divided into three sections with each section focused on the major players in our diet in terms of where they come from. The first section (consisting of the first seven chapters) would, of course, focus the industrial food chain. The second emphasizes alternative foods, mainly organic foods and the last section is based on hunter gatherer foods. Each section ends with a meal that he consumes and gives us his thoughts on such. This film is about Tom, a lovesick romantic who is blinded side when Summer, the love of his life, dumps him. He falls in love with her. But she doesn t fall in love with him. He shifts back and forth through various periods of their 500 days together to try to figure out where things went wrong. For the most part, Webb was successful in translating the emotion of the script to the motion picture. Each page of the script was about this hopeless romantic named Tom and his recollection of where things went wrong with his girlfriend, Summer. Tom was retelling the story of how he met Summer in bits and pieces. These pieces were essentially flashbacks. But in a way, they were transitions that worked in really well into the film by the use of the amount of days he was with Summer. So instead of having flashbacks all over the film with poor transitional cues, the screenplay was written with the number of days that tied in with the event for that certain day. This helped keep the emotions of the film intact because of the transitional cue cards. Each day was shown on the screen with a picture of a tree that changes with the mood of scene and Tom. Which is supposed be comparable with the changes of the seasons which is now the feelings of Tom. Another thing that was omitted from the film that was in the screenplay was the use of animation for certain parts of the script. In the script, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Jewish identity is reintegrated among the monuments through Hebrew inscriptions, the Star of David, and ritual practices (Appendix B, Figure 3). As mentioned in the description, the use of line is also very delicate. The artist might have made them sharp and angular, but instead, he used lines that are curved, gradual, and smooth.
