3. Male leaders put tasks before relationships Men are considered to set tasks before relationships,
while women on the other hand are more people oriented and focus more on establishing interpersonal
relationships. They are warmer and softer compared to their male counterparts.
4. Male leaders are more inclined to an authoritative style
Male leaders more frequently operate in mediums bound by hierarchy, status, rules and orders. In
contrast, women normally function with connectivity and closeness as paramount. For women, status
and hierarchy are not key and women are not predisposed to giving orders, but rather express
preferences and suggestions which are likely accepted.
5. Male leaders communicate to the point
Male leaders usually keep it short and sweet. No personal talk, just down to business and go. Female
leaders on the other hand talk on a more personal note while addressing subordinates.
According to Rolf Granér there are general scattered attitudes which make men and women function
differently (Granér, 1994). Those attitudes are the following:
Male properties | Female properties | Result oriented | Relation oriented | Logical | Intuitive |
Independent | Dependent | Focused on competition | Cooperativeness | Restrained | Emotional |
Investigating | Caring | Selfish | Understanding | Powerful | Soft | Bold | Careful |

The Occupy Wall Street Movement Essay
Occupy Wall Street has been called many things including: unfocused, ungrounded, and silly. Others
coin it as America s first internet era movement (Rushkoff). In quintessence, Occupy Wall Street is a
series of protests and demonstrations that oppose the influence that corporate greed has on American
Democracy. The protestors manipulate marches and nonviolent demonstrations to express their
dissatisfaction with the state of American Politics and economy. This relates to the political science
concepts of power, performance democracy, and protective democracy.
The Occupy Wall Street movement is a succession of protests that have no formal leader and no
formal demands. The concept behind this form of movement is that each person ... Show more content

The 99 percent consists of average Americans whose homes are being foreclosed upon, who have
accrued colossal student loan debt and are most affected by economic setbacks. A definition of power
is the ownership, control, and distribution of resources . In this way, the 99 percent is powerless in
America because they lack the ability to exist independently of the one percent who has the power
over the nation s resources. The one percent has an advantage in its ability to influence the
government and public policy. The protestors point to many societal problems as evidence of this
inequality. Some of these examples are unequal access to healthcare, poverty, exorbitant student loan
debt, unemployment, and unfair practices in the housing market. These are all indicators of the
unequal distribution of resources and subsequently power that Occupy Wall Street denounces.
Performance democracy is characterized by governmental outputs in the form of laws and policies that
are a reflection of a self governing people s desire for well being (Grigsby). The protestors of Occupy
Wall Street contend that American laws and policies do not reflect the interests of the majority of the
population. The current laws and policies, according to members of the movement, only benefit the
wealthy one percent of the population. The protestors stand against the elitist nature of capitalism that
inhibits adequate performance in the form of laws and

Delinquency Labels
Delinquency labels relates to economic statuses, racial differences and gender inequality. While
gender inequality highlights the differences in the prestige, power and status of men and women in
societies, they have an effect on crime patterns. Differences in gender significantly impact on
treatment of children by the juvenile system (Siegel Welsh, 2014). Although males and females differ
on personality traits, there is little evidence to show that they are impulsive than females. The theory
by Siegel and Welsh (2014) predicts no difference between crime and self control despite some
researchers proposing otherwise based on the labeling theory. According to the labeling theory, crime
arises from societal reactions to behavior but social

Acer Case Study

(MKT505) Acer s strategy has been described as divide and conquer. Compare and contrast this to
Lenovo s strategy Acer is a global corporation headquartered in Taiwan. The company s products
include desktop PC s, laptop PC s, tablets, monitors, and smartphones. Acer is a brand of the Acer
Group which also owns Gateway, eMachines, and Packard Bell. The Acer Group s long term mission

Acer must take a much more aggressive approach to get their name more widely recognized in each
respective country. I ve seen Acer PC s in the store and they are price competitive but not too many
people are going to buy a PC from a company they never heard of. I suggest that Acer must market
their products in order to educate their target markets as to who they are, how long they have been
around, and the type of quality product they produce. I personally know after doing the research on
this report, I would not hesitate to buy an Acer tablet or PC, but not enough of us are enrolled at this
university to make a difference in Acer sales. Even before the current economic crisis deepened,
growth in the U.S. PC market had begun to slow down. Despite strong competition from Dell and
Hewlett Packard, Acer s U.S. market share increased from 1 percent in 2004 to 3.3 percent by the end
of 2006. Analyze Acer s prospects for gaining further share in the United States. I believe the biggest
reason for this is that Acer put a stronger focus on the consumer market versus the business market.
Companies such as Dell were much more focused on the business market during this time period
while Acer was offering low priced PC s to consumers. I also think Acer s lean supply chain allowed
them to enter the U.S. market with substantially lower

Recognition And Tragedy In Oedipus Rex, By Sophocles
An ancient Greek Philosopher as well as a Scientist named Aristotle was the teacher of Alexander the
Great and a student of Plato. Aristotle defines tragedy as imitations of life consist of action with a
serious lesson to convey and purges emotions into the audience which leads to catharsis of these
emotions. Oedipus Rex written by Sophocles is an Athenian tragedy which practically fulfills the
Aristotelian theory of a tragedy. Oedipus, the King of Thebes is a noble man with great personality
whose life is controlled by the ill fate he is born along with the tragic flaw that is excessive pride and
confidence that he can make his life best, but cannot overcome the ill fate and boundlessly struggles.
The tragedy Oedipus Rex viewed through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly reversal is the situation in which the unexpected action occurs which is not following the law
of probability and possibility. Recognition and reversal occurs parallel to each other every time that is
when there is reversal in the ongoing plot, recognition is the realization of the Hero which expound
the previous events and is a resolution to the play. Reversal and recognition evokes the emotion of fear
and pity in the mind of the audience thus, leading to catharsis which is releases the emotional tension
cleansing one s mind. Thus in the Oedipus, the messenger comes to cheer Oedipus and free him from
his alarms about mother, but by revealing who he is, he produces the opposite effect. The audiences
develop the emotions of pity and fear towards the tragic hero Oedipus as the suspicion of King Laius s
murder fall on Oedipus which creates terror to the time when it is confirmed that Oedipus had done
the sin of ignorance/immorality by murdering ones father and marrying ones mother. Therefore, this
reversal of fate in the hero s life fills the mind of the audience with sympathy and fears that at last
during the catastrophe Oedipus pokes out his eyes which leads to the liberation of emotional tension
giving pleasure to the audience. Deus ex Machina is a literary technique which means god out of a
machine. This technique is not used in between the play, but can be used at the beginning as a report
or at the end. Deus ex machina can be found in the character of Tiresias, the blind old man who

The Graduate Film Essay
Looking further at the conventions of Classical and Art cinema in the movie The Graduate, it becomes
quite evident that there are elements of both Classical Hollywood cinema and Art cinema in the film.
The movie begins with college graduate Benjamin Braddock, coming back home after finishing his
studies at university. At his graduation party, Benjamin is bombarded by family and friends with
questions concerning his future. Eventually, he retreats to his room for a moment s silence. Mrs.
Robinson then makes an introduction, and asks Benjamin to drive her home. When they arrive at the
Robinson s, Mrs. Robinson invites Benjamin inside and begins to seduce him. This scene sets up the
framework for the first act of the film; eventually Benjamin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Much of the story centers around Benjamin s aimlessness and uncertainty of the future. The
conventions of Art cinema focus on the psychological complexity of its characters, and that is exactly
what The Graduate emphasises; the story relies on the thoughts Benjamin has. The significance of
Benjamin s mindset that is stressed in the film adds depth to the story; without it, the movie would be
aimless without explanation. Benjamin s fear and confusion concerned towards the future, exemplified
through the pool scene, as well as the summertime montage along to the song Sounds of Silence by
Simon and Garfunkel, rings true to audience members. Although some of Benjamin s actions, such as
following Elaine to university, and breaking into the Robinson household to seek out Elaine before she
gets married are seemingly sporadic and contradictory, these actions are all fueled by Benjamin s need
to grasp something, anything, to hold onto, to avoid drifting around without a future. The use of Art
cinema conventions such as editing to show the development in a character s mind, like spinning the
camera in a circle, for example, to show that Benjamin is goalless and wandering, helps the audience
understand as well as empathize with Benjamin. In use of Arthouse convention, the audience can
understand on a deeper level what is happening to Benjamin, and thus can relate to him despite not
always understanding his

The Programming Of Programming Language Generations
Question (P1.1)
1) What is a programming language generations?
The programming language generation is divided in 5 parts:
1 Generation programme language is Machine Language (or Binary)
According to (Net industry, 2015) First Generation is the lowest level of a computer language.
Computers were programmed by scientists using front control panels equipped with toggle switches in
1940s to 1950s.
In First generation programming language computer (was and still) converting information given by a
programmer into a binary numbers which is a combinations of 0s and 1s as there was no translator
used to compile or assemble the information given. The advantage of programming is that, the code
could run very and efficiently precise as the information are executed directly by the CPU.
The disadvantages in low level languages is when an error occurs the code was not easy to fix. It
could take a week to change and run the program.
Everything a programmer type on the computer the CPU convert them to a machine language which is
a combination of 0s and 1s.
Understanding how computers process information given into a binary number in order to understand
is not easy. An example been given bellow.

Oral Traditions During The Colonial Period
While our styles of writing may have changed over the past hundred years, many themes and
connections are still relevant through these older texts. Most of the texts from the Colonial Period are
focused on certain themes that were prevalent during the time. The works that I read throughout this
chapter shared the common themes of cultural differences, religion, and calls to take initiative.
Throughout the Colonial Period, literature has focused on making connections to oral traditions and
sharing stories. With the rapid modernization of society and decrease in the verbal sharing of stories,
many people have turned to writing down these anecdotes to conserve their significance. For example,
some Native Americans have begun to share their enduring

Reflection Paper About Reflection
Reflection Questions
Out of all the stories that I heard my favorite story was titled the Power Of Love . The author drew me
in by using a precise date and setting and that made me feel like I was there in that same setting. The
way she detailed the setting and used a lot of the sense such as stating that the room she sat in was
cold and as the doctor talked to her it turned chilly.
The speaker used a lot of elements in her story, but one of the strongest elements that I found that
would be extremely useful is how well she developed the story and how it was organized. She did not
over complicate the story and spoke very eloquently. The manner in which she carried the story also
made me understand her story easily and I would like to incorporate these elements in my story as
well.
My biggest challenge with this project is going to be vocalizing my story in a strong manner, because
when I get nervous I tend to mumble. I hope that I do not mumble and that i convey my story clearly.
Before the story: My sister had a boyfriend, although she was not allowed to date. She would take me
along with her so that no one would suspect anything.
I would go with her under the condition that she would buy me my movie ticket and food.
How it began:
It all started when I was in the 7th grade.
My sister and I were going to go to the movies and as always I would be the one to wait on her,
because she always took a long time getting ready. I was laying on my bed and listening to music. As I
was waiting for her I looked in the mirror. I then suddenly noticed I had a unibrow. Ever since the
fourth grade I was aware of that unibrow, but this time it was a scary one.
How it began:
I told myself do not worry no one will notice, but then i thought no your in middle school someone
will notice. I then thought of another idea maybe I will shave it, get rid of that unibrow.
That idea alone did not convince me so then I though maybe I should just get bangs and cut them right
above my eyes and no one will even know.
Then my sister starts yelling at me to hurry up the irony of that statement when it was always me
getting her in trouble for being late.
Climax: I decided that I was gonna be bold and I was going to shave

The Phases Of Conflict By Ceasefire And Post Agreement Essay
In times of conflict, it is important to note the four phases of conflict. These four phases being, pre
violence or the buildup period. Second, is armed conflict. Third is a ceasefire and lastly, comes the
post agreement. The first two phases of conflict are not hard at all to achieve or attain. Certain nations
around the world are almost always engaged in some form of conflict with other ethnic groups or
secessionist/ revolutionary forces. For a certain subset of nations, civil war appears to be a chronic
condition. (Quinn, et.al. 2007) The last phases of conflict, ceasefire and post agreement are certainly
much harder to attain and sustain than the first two phases. For this short essay, I have chosen the post
agreement phase as being the most difficult to attain and uphold. I will discuss the reasons I believe
this phase is the hardest to achieve, why or if it s even important and also briefly compare it to the
preceding phases of conflict. The main reason I chose the post agreement phase as being the most
difficult phase to achieve, is primarily because conflicting sides have to fight through the first three
stages to get to the final stage. At this point, any trust each side had for each other is shattered and
people will almost certainly be highly angered at the opposing sides for events that occur during
conflict. Not only that, but often times, conflicting parties never even reach this point. Some conflicts
only end in a ceasefire and never reach a full peace

Psycho Movie Analysis
The movie that I chose to do my movie review over is Psycho. In this movie a young woman, Marion,
is having a sexual relationship with this man that she does not know is married to another woman.
Marion works for a company doing the financial needs, and one day she is given a suitcase that is she
is suppose to take to the bank for her boss. She ends up stealing the money, leaving town and booking
her way to see her lover. A few incidences happen to her while she makes her way to her man, but it is
when she gets to the Bates Motel that things start to get psychology weird. When she reaches the hotel
there is a man there by the name of Norman Bates. Norman is not normal at all, he is struggling from a
multiperson disorder and inability to know wrong and right. He tells the Marion that his mother is
alive and living in the house but really she is dead, he had killed her previously. He goes into details to
Marion about his relationship with his dead mother. Marion, is very intrigued and happy to hear what
Norman has to say about his and his mother relationship, but tells Norman she needs to get herself
ready for the man she had come to see. As Marion organizes herself and makes her way to the shower,
Norman is in the hotel office, through a hole in the wall behind a hanging picture, watching her get
undressed. He watches for a solid five minutes before the scene changes to him running at the shower
curtain swinging a knife and killing Marion. During this part of the movie, you

Teens And Hispanic Teenage Pregnancy
There are many factors when it comes to which teenagers are most likely to get pregnant. These
factors consist of race, the country they live in, and economic status. Starting with race, whites have a
significantly lower rate of teenage pregnancy than those who are Hispanic or African American. White
and African American teenage pregnancies have both gone down while Hispanic teenage pregnancy
has gone up in the last 15 years (Coley Chase Lansdale, 1998). Even though Hispanic teenagers tend
to be sexually active later in their adolescence, studies have proven that they are less likely to use birth
control; increasing the likelihood of becoming pregnant. Once pregnant they are less likely to abort
than Whites or African Americans leading to a higher rate of Hispanic teenage pregnancies (Coley
Chase Lansdale, 1998). While race plays a big role, what country you live in also contributes to your
chances of being pregnant as a teenager. In fact, at the beginning of this decade, the rate of teenage
births was almost twice as high in the United States as in the country with the next highest rate, Great
Britain; more than 4 times greater than those of Sweden and Spain; 7 times greater than those of
Denmark and the Netherlands; and 15 times greater than that of Japan (Coley Chase Lansdale, 1998,
p. 152). Some researchers argue that because the United States is so diverse the teenage pregnancy
rate is much higher but White teenagers in the U.S. still have higher pregnancy

American Civil Society On The Iranian Nuclear Deal
Introduction
In examining the impact of American civil society on the Iranian nuclear deal, it is absolutely critical
to recognize that, in historical perspective, the American population has had very little impact on
foreign policy. As Almond asserts, the American population has typically viewed politics as a
phenomenon that ends at the water s edge, and has consequently participated only minimally in
debates over foreign affairs. Noting that discussions of foreign policy have not historically been
prominent within American civil society and that the parties have not truly sought to socialize voters
on the basis of foreign policy derived cleavages, Almond is thus pointing to a context wherein the
American political system is not one in which civil society has historically mobilized itself so as to
support or oppose given elements of national foreign policy. With Almond also proposing that
Americans attitudes towards these foreign policy phenomena tend to be simplistic and often premised
on incorrect factual information, Almond thus makes it clear that American civil society does not
typically engage with foreign policy, and largely lacks the capacity for doing so. The work of
Converse goes further and suggests that the American party system, historically aligned on the
traditional conservative liberal dichotomy, is not one that has created a consistent space for civil
societal discussion of foreign policy issues. Rather, and given that this dichotomy has socialized the

Essay On Rhetoric Reflection
In college, we get asked to write enough papers to fill a book, and all those papers start off as drafts
where they must be edited and corrected before turning them in as the final draft. This process is
particularly interesting to see how one can improve their work. Analyzing a paper to see the ways in
which information is portrayed and relayed to the reader is vital to the writing process. In this paper, I
will be examining a previous assignment from a former English course. To analyze the paper
thoroughly, I will be looking at the rhetoric used within and its effectiveness, along with the mistakes
that lie within the paper. I will critique my work and suggest ways to correct errors, or applaud
attributes within that were well done.

I used many tools to pull on the heartstrings of my audience. I used personal experience, certain events
that take place, and reflections on how things can turn out whether they are good or bad, in both
relationships, or on a roller coaster that are relatable to the reader. An example of this from my paper
shows the ethos very nicely; Do you remember the first time you fell in love? How about the first time
you got on a roller coaster? These two first times seem to have a lot in common, but they also have
some interesting differences. The first time a person does either of these things it can be scary as well
as thrilling. Imagine a teenage girl being asked out for the first time, and that same teenage girl getting
on a huge roller coaster. She would most likely be scared and unsure about both, and predicting
outcomes in her head. All a person tends to think about is the drop. This example can be an example
for almost any person. The first time a person gets on a roller coaster it is scary or nerve racking. The
same can be said for the first time you fall in love. Throughout that entire excerpt, the reader can
experience possible flashbacks to previous personal experiences. The relatable factor that ethos gives a
paper is essential in really getting your reader interested in what they are

The Help By Kathryn Stockett
For most women, whether you re an actress or whatever you do, there is this pressure in society and
within the world to look a certain way, dress a certain way, act a certain way, say certain things, and be
this idea as opposed to being a person. Amber Tamblyn
In the novel The Help, by Kathryn Stockett, the setting (1960 s, small town mississippi) helped us to
understand Stockett s purpose of highlighting the pressure society places on women, such as job
availability for women or need to marry. We all experience pressure from society in some aspects of
our lives but the difference, for women in particular, is that women have pressure from society in
every aspect of their lives.
We are first introduced to the theme of society s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is also shown when at The Benefit. Celia is described as being dressed in a sparkling hot pink
gown that shows too much skin and exposes too much of her body, while the rest of the women are
described as wearing dresses that hide almost all areas of their bodies. Ruffles clutch at her throat,
swathes of material hide her body. Tight fitted sleeves run all the way down her arm... Long kid
leather gloves ensure they don t have more than a few inches of epidermis exposed.
This highlights how little skin women felt was acceptable showing, especially in formal situations
Stockett uses the setting of Jackson, Mississippi in the 1960 s, to highlight and bring to attention how
stuck in the past, the people of Jackson are, in terms of their views on women s beauty.
The theme of society s pressure on women is developed into society s pressure on women in terms of
their roles in society. We are first introduced to this theme through Skeeter s mother. Her mother is an
older white women who belongs to a fairly wealthy family in Jackson, Mississippi. Four years my

their funds in a basket of approximately 35 50 common stocks within the Standard amp; Poor s 100

The Progressive Era Essay
The Progressive Era was a period that exposed the contradictions found in American society in the late
nineteenth and early twentieth century. Theodore Roosevelt summed up the Progressive/Reform
feeling in his Square Deal speech that it was all about morals, not economics. His goal was the moral
regeneration of the business world. He preached that it was wrong for some people to get ahead in
business and politics by tricks and schemes, while others were cheated out of the opportunity. This
was the kind of talk that millions of Americans from all areas of society could understand and respond
to.
Roosevelt simply acted in the interests of the common working man, fixing things that they found
unjust. For years, the poor and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
American reform movements have generally been started as a rebellion against the control of big
businesses and corrupt government. The poor conditions of schools and the entire education system at
the turn of the twentieth century were a major cause for reform. That reform movement has influenced
the entire education system and has made it better and more suitable for students.(Buenker, 2007)
Civil rights for African Americans and women was just beginning to become an issue in the late 19th
century. Many progressivists spoke out for suffrage for women and equal rights for black people.
Today, civil rights for minorities is still a big cause for reform. There are many different
oraganizations whose goal is to reform the way society, the government and businesses treat any type
of minority, including Hispanics, homosexuals and Native Americans. However civil rights is just one
of the many causes of modern reform groups. Others include reform of huge companies and
monoplolies, welfare programs, education systems and many, many other issues.
A reform movement is a shout against people, businesses, governments or ideas that are morally
corrupt. Not all reform movements are successful in making an actual change, however even if a
significant change isn t made their message is still shared with the public. Reform group leaders are
usually involved in the government and have a strong

The Summer People By Kelly Link
Have you ever been betrayed by someone that you trusted? The Summer People , a fairy tale short
story written by the author Kelly Link, portrayed the characters in a way that be can be greatly related.
Throughout the story, she often used several literary elements, such as symbols, setting, allusions, etc.,
to help the readers to understand the moral of the story. The main character, Fran, was bonded with the
faith to be the caretaker of the summer people, and there is no possible way that she can escape from
them. Despite the kindness of her friend, Ophelia, Fran decided to use her to gain freedom from the
summer people. Ophelia has always been truthful to Fran, even though Fran bullies her during the
beginning of the story. As the end, Ophelia was betrayed by Fran and forced to take over her
responsibilities of the summer people. In an e mail interview conducted by Journal of the Fantastic in
the Arts with Kelly Link by the editor, Brian Attebery, explained the style of her writing. Link stated,
The primary goals of fiction whether it s fantasy or realism or whatever are to entertain, to raise or
answer question, to unsettle or to comfort, to communicate. The tool set changes. The goal varies too,
and that s independent of genre (qtd. In Attebery 414). The statement from Link gives the readers that
why she decided to write stories like The Summer People, which can be greatly related to realism. The
Summer People reveals this message: be careful of who you trust,

Nordic Folk Music
What type of music has simple rhythms to accompany the melody? Repetition to support
improvisation and contrast within the melody? Or a homophonic and thin texture to allow the soloist
to shine? If you answered Jazz and Nordic folk music to any of these questions then you are correct!
Music of the World did a special study to find ties between Nordic folk music and Jazz. We talked to
two musicians about their music and we learned that these two genres of music are more alike than
they seem.
Music of the World talked Jazz trumpeter, Miles Davis, and Nordic folk fiddler, Anders Norudde,
about their experience with composing music in their respective genres. They both note many
similarities such as the use of repetition to support improvisation and ornamentation within the
melody. Davis famous piece So What ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In this type of friendship, both individuals get some sort of benefit from their friend. The second type
of friendship is based on pleasure. Here, both individuals are drawn to the other s personality, looks, or
other pleasant qualities. The third and final type of friendship is based on goodness, in which the
individuals admire their friend s goodness and in which they help one another in their pursuit for
happiness. The first two friendships are mostly accidental, due to the friends being more motivated by
their own pleasure and utility and not by anything essential to their friend. Both kinds are short lived

Horatio is not afraid to speak his mind to Hamlet, either. When Hamlet meets the ghost for the first
time, Horatio makes it clear that Hamlet s choice to follow the ghost in hopes of learning the reason
for its appearance is ill advised. He is honest and forthright in his arguments and seems genuinely
worried that Hamlet might be tempted to lose his reason and be drawn into madness, which, Horatio

My First Vacation Destination
In the summer of 2016 my family and I took a 2 week vacation to a couple different locations we all
wanted to visit. We decided to drive to our first destination, which was a 13 hour drive! On the way to
our first destination, we stopped in Athens, Alabama to stay the night and aquire some grub. We were
able to eat some dinner while we were at the hotel and we ordered the most incomparable pizza ever!
The pizza place s name was Joe s Pizza The owner s name is Joe and has multiple Guinness World
Records for his pizza making skills. All the pizzas are hand made and put into a brick pizza oven to
accommodate just the right doneness and taste. Then after that mouthwatering night in Athens,
Alabama we decided to drive on and continue to our first vacation destination. After a couple restroom
breaks and some lunch we finally arrived at Splash Resort in Panama City, Florida! The ocean was
breathtaking and as magnificent as ever it was one of those how can anything be so beautiful kind of

Essay on Teaching Culturally Diverse Classrooms
America now is a very culturally diverse nation; most of the minority and immigrant population lives
in cities, which indicates that the public school classrooms in urban areas are full of versatile cultural
identities. According to the 2000 Census record, minority and immigrant populations has grown in
increasing numbers, and most of those people live in urban areas and attend public high schools; also,
the level of residential segregation still remains as high as in 1990, which proposes new problems for
immigrants and minorities. Monocultural schools are very rare and the global society is very
multicultural; it is very logical to prepare students in schools to enter this diverse society (Le Roux

Research has been conducted and the study showed that, Latino students perceived that teachers
actions escalated disciplinary problems and believed that administrators used unfair and
discriminatory practices (90). Educators will never be able to teach students if the students perceive
them as being racist. The degree to which education for cultural diversity is realized depends on the
teacher s attitudes, knowledge, and behavior. They make the mistake of mismatching their own life
experiences and professional training. Le Roux realizes that an increasing diverse school population
encounters a mostly middle class teaching force that is inadequately prepared to manage the reality of
diversity in schools, and that is due to lack of knowledge of diversity (46). He also states that some
teachers make the mistake of generalizing about particular ethnic groups and cultural groups, as a
result of being exposed during training to information about culture; that is very dangerous in itself.
Educators also focus mostly on general characteristics of a group instead in a single individual, and
this is wrong because each individual is unique and should not be generalized by culture (Le Roux
46). Many cultural groups are entitled to maintain their traditional attitudes, values, and especially
languages; the lack of educational achievement and improvement is sometimes caused by the problem
of a different

afraid. The original definition of courage is routed from the Latin word cor , meaning heart . There are
so many definitions to explain exactly what courage is, but courage means so much more than all
those simple definitions. Courage is every time I kiss my sick father goodbye, unaware if this will be

System and Change in Industrial Relations Analysis
Critique: System and Change in Industrial Relations Analysis As a student of industrial relations, I am
often bombarded with conflicting theories and reasons for the emergence and importance of this field.
Edmond Heery outlines and analyses the justaposition of two different views of modeling this vast and
often debated area of industrial relations. His article looks at two types of model building in IR. First,
the traditional model of systems thinking set forth by John Dunlop, one of the pioneers of IR theory.
Introduced in 1958, Dunlop s system theory of IR tries to provide tools to understand the widest
possible range of IR activities and explains why particular rules are established in particular contexts.
Dunlop argues that IR can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the exogenous gradual model, IR change occurs due to gradual, cumulative change that is driven by
forces beyond the employment control. An example is globalization. In the exogenous disjunctive
model, episodes of change are interspersed with periods of stability. The change itself is triggered into
the employment relationship by some external event, like a war. In the exogenous cyclical model,
change follows a repeating cycle of decline and renewal as IR adapts to cyclical pressures in the
external environment, such as election pressures and the economy. In the endogenous cyclical model,
change occurs because of the competing drives of the actors. For example, IR is said to be both
adversarial (due to the competing interests) and cooperative (due to interdependence of the parties).
Thus IR will oscillate between adversarial and cooperative mindsets depending on the context as the
limitations of each approach become apparent to both management and workers. In the endogenous
disjunctive model, change occurs as a result of strategic choices of the actors within the employment
relations. For example, as a result of unions traditional marginalization of women s and minorities
issues, there has been an increased mobilization of women and minorities within unions. In the
endogenous gradual model, change is gradually driven by forces internal to IR. This model stresses
the maturing of IR institutions over time, as they become more

For the sake of this paper, there will be two different types of impacts of climate change on human
health: physical impact and mental impact. Now, the majority of the effects of climate change are
indeed physical impacts, for this includes problems such as severe weather events, raising
temperatures, and an increase in numerous disease across the globe. These physical impacts are what
many of the sources in regards to the topic mainly focus on. A few, however, do take time to mention
the importance of mental health in regards to climate change. In often cases, mental health can be a
result of physical impacts, but as the issue of global climate change becomes progressively more
crucial, that is not always the case. Both physical and mental impacts can have impacts on how
society, on all levels, functions, and if we are not careful to take appropriate action, society may begin
to crumble, at least only slightly. It is now coming to light that both the physical and mental impacts
are important to be addressed when discussing climate change action.
What remains important, is that even though climate change is, or may, effecting the health of us all in
some way, and it is a global issue, that each region of the world in impacted differently. This means

Anne Frank Thesis
The Lose of an Innocent Life The diary of Anne Frank is different from other stories of WWII for the
reason of it being a personal memoir from a young Jewish girl s perspective not intended for the
public s view. The Diary of a Young Girl was written in the midsts of the second world war in which
Jews were being prosecuted by the Nazis. In the beginning, Frank portrays a fairly normal life; She
speaks of boys who fall head over heels in love immediately,... and simply won t allow [her] out of
[their] sight ( Frank 5). She is very aware of the genocide of the Jews and her fear is evident
throughout the novel. The Frank s are forced to accelerate their plans to go into hiding when a call up
notice is mailed to Margot, Anne s sister. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the past few months, Europe s Anti Semitism exploded with random acts of violence toward the
Jews. The main areas where tensions are rising include France, Brussels, and Germany. According to
political leaders and journalists, a more powerful anti semitic movement is becoming popular due to
pro palestinian protesters and right wings. Although many citizens are tolerant of Jews, the movement
is gaining followers. Acts such as the destruction of Jewish owned shops, protesters yelling Death to
Jews! and Gas the Jews! , Jews being shot and assaulted, and the bombing of a synagogue all in
France makes the Jewish there weary and many have asked whether [Europe] remains a safe place for
Jews (Yardley 3). Like the Franks, many Jews are moving while they still can, often to Israel; in fact,
Israeli officials predict that as many as 6,000 Jews will migrate from France this year (Yardley 22).
This huge outflux of people from high tension areas parallels the Jewish during the Holocaust who
moved before tensions became too high in order to be safe. These random acts are reminding Jews of
the night Nazis destroyed hundreds of Jewish owned called Kristallnacht which was a major step
towards anti semitism in

Martha and Mary Magdalene by Caravaggio
The Painting Martha and Mary Magdalene is one of the many masterpieces in the DIA s collection in
Detroit. Although there is much more to understanding a work of art then just looking at it. In order to
understand a piece, you have to understand the Artist, the time period, and the symbols in that painting
that may have very different meaning today.
Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio better known as simply Caravaggio was an Italian Baroque
master painter born in Italy around 1571. After he apprenticed with a painter in Milan, he moved to
Rome, where he lived for most of his life. His work influenced painters around Europe. He s most
known for his gruesome subjects and use of Tenebrism, which was a technique that used heavy

From prostitute to sibyl to mystic to celibate nun to passive helpmeet to feminist icon to the matriarch
of divinity s secret dynasty. (James Carroll Who is Mary Magdalene ) What we know for sure is that
Mary Magdalene was a former sinner that became a leading figure in Jesus followers. She stayed by
Jesus side, to the end, she visited him at his tomb, and was the first person that Jesus appeared after his
resurrection and the first to preach the Good News of that miracle. During the time period of this
painting Mary Magdalene, a sinner and prostitute, illustrated the very essence of spiritual conversion.
(Ebert Schifferer 63) It s no stretch to say that the painting is meant to show the moment at which
Mary changes her ways, and becomes married to the word of god . The conversion of Mary was a new
concept to Rome, The book Caravaggio: The Artist and His Work claims that this painting is the first
to depict it.
There is no lack of symbolism in Caravaggio s Martha and Mary Magdalene . The painting shows the
contrast between the two sisters even though they are wearing the same colors. Martha is dressed
simply, while Mary is dressed elaborately and provocatively. Mary s fancy dress is said not to be
because of her prostitution, but because of her future loftier spiritual aspiration, in comparison to her
sister Martha. Although the way the two are dressed are far from being the only symbols in this piece.

Compare Contrast on Poems.
Whoso List to Hunt by Sir Thomas Wyatt and Sonnet 67 by Edmund Spenser are sonnets that are very
similar at a first glance, but delving deeper, a difference can be found. Both of these sonnets use
imagery and figures of speech relating to the hunt of an unobtainable woman as well as that central
theme. Through a deeper analysis it is revealed that these two authors have a different interpretation of
this failed hunt. A comparison and contrast of Whoso List to Hunt and Sonnet 67 reveals that they are
very similar through the analysis of their imagery and theme, but a look at the tone, reveals a different
view on the problems faced in by these two speakers. Whoso List to Hunt shows an unobtainable
woman represented as a deer, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As he describes these escapades, he says The vain travail hath wearied me so sore (Wyatt, 3). This
reinforces the theme by showing how much long he has been fighting to get her. Later on, the narrator
is once again lamenting his impossible quest: Since in a net I seek to hold the wind (Wyatt, 8). By
giving us this statement, it shows how fruitless the speaker s hopes are. This theme is also prominent
in Spenser s Sonnet 67 . As the narrator describes his love life he says, Seeing the game from him
escaped away (Spenser, 2) showing how unobtainable this woman truly is. Later on the speaker
supports the theme again, by saying So, after long pursuit and vain assay (Spenser, 5). On the speaker
s journey, he has attempted to get his girl, but each time it never works. These two poems are quite
similar as they both have the same theme. Even though they seem to almost be the same poem, there is
one big difference within the poems. The two poems have a very different tone, with Wyatt s being
much more clingy and stubborn, while Spenser s being more contemplative and realistic. In Whoso
List to Hunt the narrator is much clingier: Fainting I follow (Wyatt, 7). Even though this woman will
never take him in, he still pushes on and refuses to let go. Similarly, he supports this by saying, Yet by
no means my wearied mind/Draw from the deer (Wyatt, 5 6). The narrator has obviously been trying
to court her for awhile and even though

Similarities And Differences Between Beowulf And Iliad
Beowulf and Iliad are some of the most famous stories in literature. In both stories we can see how the
characteristics of heroic is presented in many sorts of different ways. Although they bear some
superficial similarities, the differences between Beowulf and Iliad are clear. They both involved heroic
events, but the settings and the way both stories are being told involved many dissimilarities. The both
heroes in the stories are also interacted with supernatural beings and many different sorts of events. In
Beowulf we see characteristics such as bravery, loyalty, honor, superhuman physical strength, and the
willingness to risk his life for the greater good. Beowulf shows bravery when he hears about how
Grendel is attacking the Hrothgar and the hall. Grendel was attacking the men at night and Beowulf
wanted to go help. In his far off home Beowulf, Higlac s follower and the strongest of the Geats
greater and stronger than anyone anywhere in this world heard how Grendel filled nights with horror
and quickly commanded a boat fitted out, proclaiming that he d go to that famous king, would sail
across the sea to Hrothgar, now when help was needed. (Beowulf 111 116) In this section we see how
Beowulf was not afraid to go up against Grendel . He shows his willing to risk his life for the greater
good when he is not afraid to go up against the dragon in his last battle. I ve never known fear, as a
youth I fought in endless battles. I am old, now, but I will fight again,

‘The main reason for conservative dominance in the years...
The main reason for conservative dominance in the years 1951 to 1964 was labour disunity Assess the
validity of this view. (June 2011)
Labour disunity was a huge contributing factor as to why the conservatives were able to dominate
from 1951 to 1964. However, there are also other factors that assisted conservative dominance.
Whether that be conservative strengths, good timing, the end of austerity or their handle on public
opinion, all factors contributed to the dominant years. However, how long the conservatives actually
dominated is also a question. Did they dominate for the whole period, or just part of it? The years
1962 1964 question conservative dominance and how labour reunited.
One of the major reasons why Conservatives were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Failure to exploit opportunities was also another labour problem. The 1956 sued crisis provided labour
with a great opportunity to get back on the attack. If there had been a general election in 1957 then
things may have favoured labour. However, Suez did not split the conservatives and labour were left
with few targets to aim at in hoping to gain more supporters. The Labour party s inability to counter
conservative mistakes was a direct result of their disunity.
As well as labour disunity there are other factors to consider as to why conservatives dominated.
Firstly, the reorganisation of the party machine led by Lord Woolton after the dislocation caused by
the war and the shock defeat for the conservatives in 1946 proved pivotal for the conservatives in
improving their ideas (new conservatives with new ideas) and general organisation.
The conservatives recognised the extent of public approval for the legacy of the Attlee government.
Most Conservatives grasped the political realities of the time. There can be no outright rejection of the
welfare state, nor a total reversal of nationalisation. Attitudes towards industry, the trade unions and
social policy were going to have to be very different from the 1930s because the experiences of the
war years had made people far more ready to accept the need for state intervention and planning. The
post war years had seen living standards rise, proving to be very popular

Essay about Ranking The Present Enterprise Purchasers
Once the choice to offer has been created, the entrepreneur should be conscious of the wide range of
possible company customers. Just as little company itself has become more innovative, the people
enthusiastic about purchasing them have also become more divergent and complicated. The following
are some of the present most effective groups of company buyers:
Family Associates Members
Members of the vendor s own family form a traditional type of business buyer: tried, but not always
true. The idea of a friend taking over is responsive to many of the events involved because they
imagine a continual, seeing that as a primary advantage. And it can be, given that the friend snacks the
role as something similar to an ordered liability. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Economical Purchasers
This type of customer comes with perhaps the lengthiest record of criteria and requirements. These
customers want highest possible, make use of, but they also are the right classification for the supplier
who wants to keep handle his organization after it is marketed. Most economical customers provide a
reduced sticker cost than other kinds, but they do often allow for what may be essential to the supplier
other than the money such as choice of key workers, place, and other problems.
For a business to be of interest to a economical customer, the earnings must be adequate not only to
support current control, but also to offer a come back to the proprietor.
Individual Customer
When it comes a chance to offer, most entrepreneurs of the little to mid sized company move toward
this customer. Many of these customers are older (aged 40 to 60) and have been well seasoned in the
business industry. Being in the company is a desire, and won many of them can well manage. The key
to nearing this type of customer is to discover out what it is they are really looking for.
The customer who needs to substitute a job is can be an outstanding probability. Although being in a
company is more than a job, and the threats engaged can terrify this type of customer, they do have the
hunger and the need. A further benefits is that this type of customer comes with less strings and

Male leaders put tasks before relationships Men are considered to set tasks before relationships, while women on the other hand are more people oriented and focus more on establishing interpersonal relationships. They are warmer and softer compared to their male counterparts. 4. Male leaders are more inclined to an authoritative style Male leaders more frequently operate in mediums bound by hierarchy, status, rules and orders. In contrast, women normally function with connectivity and closeness as paramount. For women, status and hierarchy are not key and women are not predisposed to giving orders, but rather express preferences and suggestions which are likely accepted. 5. Male leaders communicate to the point Male leaders usually keep it short and sweet. No personal talk, just down to business and go. Female leaders on the other hand talk on a more personal note while addressing subordinates. According to Rolf Granér there are general scattered attitudes which make men and women function differently (Granér, 1994). Those attitudes are the following: Male properties | Female properties | Result oriented | Relation oriented | Logical | Intuitive | Independent | Dependent | Focused on competition | Cooperativeness | Restrained | Emotional | Investigating | Caring | Selfish | Understanding | Powerful | Soft | Bold | Careful | (GENDER SCATTERED ATTITUDES, GRANÉR 1994, P.122)

  • 4. The Occupy Wall Street Movement Essay Occupy Wall Street has been called many things including: unfocused, ungrounded, and silly. Others coin it as America s first internet era movement (Rushkoff). In quintessence, Occupy Wall Street is a series of protests and demonstrations that oppose the influence that corporate greed has on American Democracy. The protestors manipulate marches and nonviolent demonstrations to express their dissatisfaction with the state of American Politics and economy. This relates to the political science concepts of power, performance democracy, and protective democracy. The Occupy Wall Street movement is a succession of protests that have no formal leader and no formal demands. The concept behind this form of movement is that each person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The 99 percent consists of average Americans whose homes are being foreclosed upon, who have accrued colossal student loan debt and are most affected by economic setbacks. A definition of power is the ownership, control, and distribution of resources . In this way, the 99 percent is powerless in America because they lack the ability to exist independently of the one percent who has the power over the nation s resources. The one percent has an advantage in its ability to influence the government and public policy. The protestors point to many societal problems as evidence of this inequality. Some of these examples are unequal access to healthcare, poverty, exorbitant student loan debt, unemployment, and unfair practices in the housing market. These are all indicators of the unequal distribution of resources and subsequently power that Occupy Wall Street denounces. Performance democracy is characterized by governmental outputs in the form of laws and policies that are a reflection of a self governing people s desire for well being (Grigsby). The protestors of Occupy Wall Street contend that American laws and policies do not reflect the interests of the majority of the population. The current laws and policies, according to members of the movement, only benefit the wealthy one percent of the population. While gender inequality highlights the differences in the prestige, power and status of men and women in societies, they have an effect on crime patterns. Differences in gender significantly impact on treatment of children by the juvenile system (Siegel Welsh, 2014). Although males and females differ on personality traits, there is little evidence to show that they are impulsive than females. The theory by Siegel and Welsh (2014) predicts no difference between crime and self control despite some researchers proposing otherwise based on the labeling theory. Acer is a brand of the Acer Group which also owns Gateway, eMachines, and Packard Bell. Acer must take a much more aggressive approach to get their name more widely recognized in each respective country. I ve seen Acer PC s in the store and they are price competitive but not too many people are going to buy a PC from a company they never heard of. I suggest that Acer must market their products in order to educate their target markets as to who they are, how long they have been around, and the type of quality product they produce. I personally know after doing the research on this report, I would not hesitate to buy an Acer tablet or PC, but not enough of us are enrolled at this university to make a difference in Acer sales. Even before the current economic crisis deepened, growth in the U.S. PC market had begun to slow down. Despite strong competition from Dell and Hewlett Packard, Acer s U.S. market share increased from 1 percent in 2004 to 3.3 percent by the end of 2006. Analyze Acer s prospects for gaining further share in the United States. I believe the biggest reason for this is that Acer put a stronger focus on the consumer market versus the business market. Companies such as Dell were much more focused on the business market during this time period while Acer was offering low priced PC s to consumers. I also think Acer s lean supply chain allowed them to enter the U.S. market with substantially lower ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Recognition And Tragedy In Oedipus Rex, By Sophocles An ancient Greek Philosopher as well as a Scientist named Aristotle was the teacher of Alexander the Great and a student of Plato. Aristotle defines tragedy as imitations of life consist of action with a serious lesson to convey and purges emotions into the audience which leads to catharsis of these emotions. Oedipus Rex written by Sophocles is an Athenian tragedy which practically fulfills the Aristotelian theory of a tragedy. Oedipus, the King of Thebes is a noble man with great personality whose life is controlled by the ill fate he is born along with the tragic flaw that is excessive pride and confidence that he can make his life best, but cannot overcome the ill fate and boundlessly struggles. Firstly reversal is the situation in which the unexpected action occurs which is not following the law of probability and possibility. Recognition and reversal occurs parallel to each other every time that is when there is reversal in the ongoing plot, recognition is the realization of the Hero which expound the previous events and is a resolution to the play. Reversal and recognition evokes the emotion of fear and pity in the mind of the audience thus, leading to catharsis which is releases the emotional tension cleansing one s mind. Thus in the Oedipus, the messenger comes to cheer Oedipus and free him from his alarms about mother, but by revealing who he is, he produces the opposite effect. The audiences develop the emotions of pity and fear towards the tragic hero Oedipus as the suspicion of King Laius s murder fall on Oedipus which creates terror to the time when it is confirmed that Oedipus had done the sin of ignorance/immorality by murdering ones father and marrying ones mother. Therefore, this reversal of fate in the hero s life fills the mind of the audience with sympathy and fears that at last during the catastrophe Oedipus pokes out his eyes which leads to the liberation of emotional tension giving pleasure to the audience. Deus ex Machina is a literary technique which means god out of a machine. This technique is not used in between the play, but can be used at the beginning as a report or at the end. • 8. The Graduate Film Essay Looking further at the conventions of Classical and Art cinema in the movie The Graduate, it becomes quite evident that there are elements of both Classical Hollywood cinema and Art cinema in the film. The movie begins with college graduate Benjamin Braddock, coming back home after finishing his studies at university. At his graduation party, Benjamin is bombarded by family and friends with questions concerning his future. Eventually, he retreats to his room for a moment s silence. Mrs. Robinson then makes an introduction, and asks Benjamin to drive her home. When they arrive at the Robinson s, Mrs. Robinson invites Benjamin inside and begins to seduce him. Much of the story centers around Benjamin s aimlessness and uncertainty of the future. The conventions of Art cinema focus on the psychological complexity of its characters, and that is exactly what The Graduate emphasises; the story relies on the thoughts Benjamin has. The significance of Benjamin s mindset that is stressed in the film adds depth to the story; without it, the movie would be aimless without explanation. Benjamin s fear and confusion concerned towards the future, exemplified through the pool scene, as well as the summertime montage along to the song Sounds of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel, rings true to audience members. Although some of Benjamin s actions, such as following Elaine to university, and breaking into the Robinson household to seek out Elaine before she gets married are seemingly sporadic and contradictory, these actions are all fueled by Benjamin s need to grasp something, anything, to hold onto, to avoid drifting around without a future. The use of Art cinema conventions such as editing to show the development in a character s mind, like spinning the camera in a circle, for example, to show that Benjamin is goalless and wandering, helps the audience understand as well as empathize with Benjamin. In use of Arthouse convention, the audience can understand on a deeper level what is happening to Benjamin, and thus can relate to him despite not always understanding his ... Throughout the Colonial Period, literature has focused on making connections to oral traditions and sharing stories. • 13. Reflection Paper About Reflection Reflection Questions Out of all the stories that I heard my favorite story was titled the Power Of Love . The author drew me in by using a precise date and setting and that made me feel like I was there in that same setting. The way she detailed the setting and used a lot of the sense such as stating that the room she sat in was cold and as the doctor talked to her it turned chilly. The speaker used a lot of elements in her story, but one of the strongest elements that I found that would be extremely useful is how well she developed the story and how it was organized. She did not over complicate the story and spoke very eloquently. The manner in which she carried the story also made me understand her story easily and I would like to incorporate these elements in my story as well. My biggest challenge with this project is going to be vocalizing my story in a strong manner, because when I get nervous I tend to mumble. I hope that I do not mumble and that i convey my story clearly. Before the story: My sister had a boyfriend, although she was not allowed to date. She would take me along with her so that no one would suspect anything. I would go with her under the condition that she would buy me my movie ticket and food. How it began: It all started when I was in the 7th grade. My sister and I were going to go to the movies and as always I would be the one to wait on her, because she always took a long time getting ready. I was laying on my bed and listening to music. As I was waiting for her I looked in the mirror. I then suddenly noticed I had a unibrow. Ever since the fourth grade I was aware of that unibrow, but this time it was a scary one. How it began: I told myself do not worry no one will notice, but then i thought no your in middle school someone will notice. I then thought of another idea maybe I will shave it, get rid of that unibrow. That idea alone did not convince me so then I though maybe I should just get bangs and cut them right above my eyes and no one will even know. Then my sister starts yelling at me to hurry up the irony of that statement when it was always me getting her in trouble for being late. Climax: I decided that I was gonna be bold and I was going to shave ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. The Phases Of Conflict By Ceasefire And Post Agreement Essay In times of conflict, it is important to note the four phases of conflict. These four phases being, pre violence or the buildup period. Second, is armed conflict. Third is a ceasefire and lastly, comes the post agreement. The first two phases of conflict are not hard at all to achieve or attain. Certain nations around the world are almost always engaged in some form of conflict with other ethnic groups or secessionist/ revolutionary forces. For a certain subset of nations, civil war appears to be a chronic condition. (Quinn, et.al. 2007) The last phases of conflict, ceasefire and post agreement are certainly much harder to attain and sustain than the first two phases. For this short essay, I have chosen the post agreement phase as being the most difficult to attain and uphold. I will discuss the reasons I believe this phase is the hardest to achieve, why or if it s even important and also briefly compare it to the preceding phases of conflict. The main reason I chose the post agreement phase as being the most difficult phase to achieve, is primarily because conflicting sides have to fight through the first three stages to get to the final stage. At this point, any trust each side had for each other is shattered and people will almost certainly be highly angered at the opposing sides for events that occur during conflict. Not only that, but often times, conflicting parties never even reach this point. Some conflicts only end in a ceasefire and never reach a full peace ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Marion works for a company doing the financial needs, and one day she is given a suitcase that is she is suppose to take to the bank for her boss. She ends up stealing the money, leaving town and booking her way to see her lover. A few incidences happen to her while she makes her way to her man, but it is when she gets to the Bates Motel that things start to get psychology weird. When she reaches the hotel there is a man there by the name of Norman Bates. Norman is not normal at all, he is struggling from a multiperson disorder and inability to know wrong and right. He tells the Marion that his mother is alive and living in the house but really she is dead, he had killed her previously. He goes into details to Marion about his relationship with his dead mother. Marion, is very intrigued and happy to hear what Norman has to say about his and his mother relationship, but tells Norman she needs to get herself ready for the man she had come to see. As Marion organizes herself and makes her way to the shower, Norman is in the hotel office, through a hole in the wall behind a hanging picture, watching her get undressed. • 17. Teens And Hispanic Teenage Pregnancy There are many factors when it comes to which teenagers are most likely to get pregnant. These factors consist of race, the country they live in, and economic status. Starting with race, whites have a significantly lower rate of teenage pregnancy than those who are Hispanic or African American. White and African American teenage pregnancies have both gone down while Hispanic teenage pregnancy has gone up in the last 15 years (Coley Chase Lansdale, 1998). Even though Hispanic teenagers tend to be sexually active later in their adolescence, studies have proven that they are less likely to use birth control; increasing the likelihood of becoming pregnant. Once pregnant they are less likely to abort than Whites or African Americans leading to a higher rate of Hispanic teenage pregnancies (Coley Chase Lansdale, 1998). While race plays a big role, what country you live in also contributes to your chances of being pregnant as a teenager. In fact, at the beginning of this decade, the rate of teenage births was almost twice as high in the United States as in the country with the next highest rate, Great Britain; more than 4 times greater than those of Sweden and Spain; 7 times greater than those of Denmark and the Netherlands; and 15 times greater than that of Japan (Coley Chase Lansdale, 1998, p. 152). Some researchers argue that because the United States is so diverse the teenage pregnancy rate is much higher but White teenagers in the U.S. still have higher pregnancy ... American Civil Society On The Iranian Nuclear Deal Introduction In examining the impact of American civil society on the Iranian nuclear deal, it is absolutely critical to recognize that, in historical perspective, the American population has had very little impact on foreign policy. As Almond asserts, the American population has typically viewed politics as a phenomenon that ends at the water s edge, and has consequently participated only minimally in debates over foreign affairs. Noting that discussions of foreign policy have not historically been prominent within American civil society and that the parties have not truly sought to socialize voters on the basis of foreign policy derived cleavages, Almond is thus pointing to a context wherein the American political system is not one in which civil society has historically mobilized itself so as to support or oppose given elements of national foreign policy. With Almond also proposing that Americans attitudes towards these foreign policy phenomena tend to be simplistic and often premised on incorrect factual information, Almond thus makes it clear that American civil society does not typically engage with foreign policy, and largely lacks the capacity for doing so. The work of Converse goes further and suggests that the American party system, historically aligned on the traditional conservative liberal dichotomy, is not one that has created a consistent space for civil societal discussion of foreign policy issues. Rather, and given that this dichotomy has socialized the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They make the mistake of mismatching their own life experiences and professional training. Le Roux realizes that an increasing diverse school population encounters a mostly middle class teaching force that is inadequately prepared to manage the reality of diversity in schools, and that is due to lack of knowledge of diversity (46). He also states that some teachers make the mistake of generalizing about particular ethnic groups and cultural groups, as a result of being exposed during training to information about culture; that is very dangerous in itself. Educators also focus mostly on general characteristics of a group instead in a single individual, and this is wrong because each individual is unique and should not be generalized by culture (Le Roux 46). System and Change in Industrial Relations Analysis Critique: System and Change in Industrial Relations Analysis As a student of industrial relations, I am often bombarded with conflicting theories and reasons for the emergence and importance of this field. Edmond Heery outlines and analyses the justaposition of two different views of modeling this vast and often debated area of industrial relations. His article looks at two types of model building in IR. First, the traditional model of systems thinking set forth by John Dunlop, one of the pioneers of IR theory. Introduced in 1958, Dunlop s system theory of IR tries to provide tools to understand the widest possible range of IR activities and explains why particular rules are established in particular contexts. Dunlop argues that IR can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the exogenous gradual model, IR change occurs due to gradual, cumulative change that is driven by forces beyond the employment control. An example is globalization. In the exogenous disjunctive model, episodes of change are interspersed with periods of stability. The change itself is triggered into the employment relationship by some external event, like a war. In the exogenous cyclical model, change follows a repeating cycle of decline and renewal as IR adapts to cyclical pressures in the external environment, such as election pressures and the economy. In the endogenous cyclical model, change occurs because of the competing drives of the actors. For example, IR is said to be both adversarial (due to the competing interests) and cooperative (due to interdependence of the parties). Thus IR will oscillate between adversarial and cooperative mindsets depending on the context as the limitations of each approach become apparent to both management and workers. In the endogenous disjunctive model, change occurs as a result of strategic choices of the actors within the employment relations. For example, as a result of unions traditional marginalization of women s and minorities issues, there has been an increased mobilization of women and minorities within unions. In the endogenous gradual model, change is gradually driven by forces internal to IR. This model stresses the maturing of IR institutions over time, as they become more ... Whether it be a developing issue or one that has been plaguing society for an amount of time, as the world becomes a more globalized entity, many are beginning to realize that while we may face challenges individual to more local levels, there are just as many challenges that we must take on together. Climate change, and its effect upon human health, is one of these uniting challenges. For the sake of this paper, there will be two different types of impacts of climate change on human health: physical impact and mental impact. Now, the majority of the effects of climate change are indeed physical impacts, for this includes problems such as severe weather events, raising temperatures, and an increase in numerous disease across the globe. These physical impacts are what many of the sources in regards to the topic mainly focus on. A few, however, do take time to mention the importance of mental health in regards to climate change. In often cases, mental health can be a result of physical impacts, but as the issue of global climate change becomes progressively more crucial, that is not always the case. Both physical and mental impacts can have impacts on how society, on all levels, functions, and if we are not careful to take appropriate action, society may begin to crumble, at least only slightly. It is now coming to light that both the physical and mental impacts are important to be addressed when discussing climate change action. What remains important, is that even though climate change is, or may, effecting the health of us all in some way, and it is a global issue, that each region of the world in impacted differently. This means that while it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although many citizens are tolerant of Jews, the movement is gaining followers. Acts such as the destruction of Jewish owned shops, protesters yelling Death to Jews! and Gas the Jews! , Jews being shot and assaulted, and the bombing of a synagogue all in France makes the Jewish there weary and many have asked whether [Europe] remains a safe place for Jews (Yardley 3). (James Carroll Who is Mary Magdalene ) What we know for sure is that Mary Magdalene was a former sinner that became a leading figure in Jesus followers. She stayed by Jesus side, to the end, she visited him at his tomb, and was the first person that Jesus appeared after his resurrection and the first to preach the Good News of that miracle. During the time period of this painting Mary Magdalene, a sinner and prostitute, illustrated the very essence of spiritual conversion. (Ebert Schifferer 63) It s no stretch to say that the painting is meant to show the moment at which Mary changes her ways, and becomes married to the word of god . The conversion of Mary was a new concept to Rome, The book Caravaggio: The Artist and His Work claims that this painting is the first to depict it. There is no lack of symbolism in Caravaggio s Martha and Mary Magdalene . The painting shows the contrast between the two sisters even though they are wearing the same colors. Martha is dressed simply, while Mary is dressed elaborately and provocatively. Mary s fancy dress is said not to be because of her prostitution, but because of her future loftier spiritual aspiration, in comparison to her sister Martha. • 47. Compare Contrast on Poems. Whoso List to Hunt by Sir Thomas Wyatt and Sonnet 67 by Edmund Spenser are sonnets that are very similar at a first glance, but delving deeper, a difference can be found. Both of these sonnets use imagery and figures of speech relating to the hunt of an unobtainable woman as well as that central theme. Through a deeper analysis it is revealed that these two authors have a different interpretation of this failed hunt. A comparison and contrast of Whoso List to Hunt and Sonnet 67 reveals that they are very similar through the analysis of their imagery and theme, but a look at the tone, reveals a different view on the problems faced in by these two speakers. As he describes these escapades, he says The vain travail hath wearied me so sore (Wyatt, 3). This reinforces the theme by showing how much long he has been fighting to get her. Later on, the narrator is once again lamenting his impossible quest: Since in a net I seek to hold the wind (Wyatt, 8). By giving us this statement, it shows how fruitless the speaker s hopes are. This theme is also prominent in Spenser s Sonnet 67 . As the narrator describes his love life he says, Seeing the game from him escaped away (Spenser, 2) showing how unobtainable this woman truly is. Later on the speaker supports the theme again, by saying So, after long pursuit and vain assay (Spenser, 5). On the speaker s journey, he has attempted to get his girl, but each time it never works. These two poems are quite similar as they both have the same theme. Even though they seem to almost be the same poem, there is one big difference within the poems. The two poems have a very different tone, with Wyatt s being much more clingy and stubborn, while Spenser s being more contemplative and realistic. In Whoso List to Hunt the narrator is much clingier: Fainting I follow (Wyatt, 7). Even though this woman will never take him in, he still pushes on and refuses to let go. Similarly, he supports this by saying, Yet by no means my wearied mind/Draw from the deer (Wyatt, 5 6). The narrator has obviously been trying to court her for awhile and even though ... (June 2011) Labour disunity was a huge contributing factor as to why the conservatives were able to dominate from 1951 to 1964. However, there are also other factors that assisted conservative dominance. Whether that be conservative strengths, good timing, the end of austerity or their handle on public opinion, all factors contributed to the dominant years. Failure to exploit opportunities was also another labour problem. The 1956 sued crisis provided labour with a great opportunity to get back on the attack. If there had been a general election in 1957 then things may have favoured labour. However, Suez did not split the conservatives and labour were left with few targets to aim at in hoping to gain more supporters. The Labour party s inability to counter conservative mistakes was a direct result of their disunity. As well as labour disunity there are other factors to consider as to why conservatives dominated. Firstly, the reorganisation of the party machine led by Lord Woolton after the dislocation caused by the war and the shock defeat for the conservatives in 1946 proved pivotal for the conservatives in improving their ideas (new conservatives with new ideas) and general organisation. The conservatives recognised the extent of public approval for the legacy of the Attlee government. Most Conservatives grasped the political realities of the time. There can be no outright rejection of the welfare state, nor a total reversal of nationalisation. Attitudes towards industry, the trade unions and social policy were going to have to be very different from the 1930s because the experiences of the war years had made people far more ready to accept the need for state intervention and planning.
