appears out of nowhere and starts talking to Susie about this fort that he made under the cornfield.
He wants her to come and see it so Susie and Mr. Harvey go down the ladder and into the
underground structure, eventually Mr. Harvey won t let her leave and then he kills her. No one
thinks it s him because he tries to stay low most of the time and not talk to anyone.

Exploratory Synthesis
Today in class Dihara and Kontessa read their Exploratory Synthesis. They were both good and
they both catched the readers intention. One thing that really stood out was when Dihara said
how that all brown people become doctors or engineers because of their parents. This stood out
because as a brown person I can really relate to this. Every since I was born my parents wanted me
to become a doctor. I was born 2 months early then my due date. The doctor said if I were to die, so
would my mother. Luckily, we both survived and the doctor told my mother don t worry one day
I will become a great doctor. My mother especially still wants be to become a doctor. I think that
the real reason why all brown parents wants their child to become a doctor because

Characteristics Of Beowulf
Beowulf: A True Christian Hero
A hero is someone who demonstrates acts of courage which is accompanied by a high moral
character. A Christian hero not only demonstrates these qualities, but they also stay true to the will
of God and demonstrate a sense of faith. This requires being selfless, obedient in faith, and most
importantly having tremendous courage. The character Beowulf, in the epic poem by the same
name, presents all these characteristics. Throughout the poem his character matures and ultimately
becomes a better leader, which makes these traits all the more present. Beowulf s quality of
leadership and passion for the well being of others truly defines a Christian hero. Exhibiting
selflessness is a characteristics that plays a great deal in how others perceive you. Beowulf was
a type of leader that did not think twice before helping those in need. In many cases he was
willing to sacrifice himself for the better good of his people, which is the ultimate act of
selflessness. But in the very beginning, even before he was king of his own land he exhibited
his selfless nature. He did this by coming to the aid of Hrothgar, the king of the Danes. The
following excerpt, Beowulf kindness is revealed, When he heard about Grendel, Hygelac thane
was on home ground, over i Gretland. There was no one else like him alive. In his day, he was
the mightiest man on earth, highborn and powerful. He ordered a boat that would ply the
waves. He announced his plan: to sail the swan s road and seek out that king, the famous prince
who needed defenders. Nobody tried to keep him from going, no elder denied him,der as he was
to them. (Beowulf; lines 194 203). Beowulf went on to defeat of grendel and his mother, two
monsters ploughing Hrothgar and his people. This act gained him respect his selfless act
blossomed into the blessing of him one day becoming a king himself. Beowulf did not have to
come to the aid of the king but did so anyway. He, from the beginning, wanted to help anyone in
need, no one could or would stop him from accomplishing this goal. He sacrifice his life for the
wellbeing of people who were in a neighboring country, it goes to say that he would obviously seek
to go beyond that for his own.

My Family s Summer Cabin
My family s summer cabin was along the south coast line of Norway. Since it s a time share
between my entire father s side of the family, we were not able to spend as much time as we
sometimes wanted to there. Therefore, one summer when I was 11 years old my parents sent me to
spend time alone with my grandmother at the summer house. In Norway its common to share a
cabin with your entire mother s or father s side of the familyand have specific weeks where each
family can stay at the cabin. This summer my family was not able to take advantage of our week at
the cabin, therefore I was sent to spend time with my grandmother. Later in life I suspect this was
because my parents often thoughtof me as a very sensitive and wimpy child. They... Show more

They were brothers that spent their entire summers on the island. The older one named Nils was
the more experienced and tougher of the two, while the younger brother Per usually just
followed his older sibling around. In my young and impressionable age, I looked up to Per and
Nils. They had qualities that I admired such as being leaders from a young age and being
experienced in taking initiative. I remember one previous adventure I had had with them were
they took me out on their little rubber boat in the ocean to shoot seagulls with their BB gun. This
incident showed me that Nils and Per were quite the young risk takers since shooting seagulls is
illegal in Norway outside of certain areas and seasons.
One day we decided to traverse all the way to the other side of the island where none of us had
gone before. Being relatively inexperienced with hiking on the island I did not have very good
shoes to hike in the terrain. I was wearing flat soled slip on shoes. Despite doubting if that I had
the correct footwear to be hiking I decided to go with them anyway as to not seem wimpy in the
presence of two young experienced hikers. While traversing slanted rocks and mossy grounds, my

seconds, hitting and rocks and bushes in my

The Standard American Business Suit Essay
It s happened to all of us. You re standing in front of your closet, staring into the deep abyss of
clothing in front of you. In a frantic search to find a suitable outfit for the day, you shuffle through
the myriad amounts of color options in front of you. Mystical teals, burnt oranges and chocolaty
browns fill your gaze. You just cannot seem to find anything that you would feel comfortable
wearing for the day. In terms of style, coloris the cornerstone. Many, however, lack the ability to
color coordinate. The color of what we wear can exude an impact much greater than we could
even define. The topic of the unspoken language of color will allow those who are less
fashionable to gain an understanding of the silent essence their clothing gives off. The unspoken
social language of color is one that relays who we are. It can emit our emotions, our personality
and allow us to relive eras of our humanity. The standard American business suit is an example.
Following a basic formula, it involves a grey suit, white shirt, deep toned tie, and white pocket
square with either black shoes. The dark tones are closely tied with authority and leadership. There
are a handful of ways to play around with this, but if you wish to convey the message that you re
there for business, you ll stick to the basic formula. Substitute the white shirt out for light blue, and
suddenly the suit means something completely different. Drop the white pocket square for a greenor
orange, and the message

Ethos Pathos And Logos Analysis
Before the building of architectural achievements such as the Roman Colosseum, the Taj Mahal,
and the Windsor Castle, a Greek philosopher named Aristotle had created the three pillars of
persuasive speech over 2,000 years ago. These three pillars are known as ethos, logos, and pathos.
The architectural feats mentioned above had been created to last and withstand demolition from
external forces such as the weather, aging, and cracking/erosion. Just like these buildings are
structured, an argument needs to be well put together so it cannot be torn apart. This resulted in the
creation of the three pillars. In the reading of Monstrous Beginnings, the author, W. Scott Poole,
uses Aristotle s three pillars attempting to convince the reader that among... Show more content on

Pathos involves getting an emotional response from the reader, which is something that Poole
struggles to do in this writing. Although it is truly unfortunate how certain groups of people were
treated back then, Poole struggles to make you feel any sympathy for how the minorities were
treated. He does not include many stories that invoke feelings of anger towards the treatment of the
natives or pity or sorrow towards them. Another part that made his writing hard to read or feel any
emotion over were his long winded sentences. Many sentences went on longer than they should
have, or could have been cut in half to make shorter sentences so the material would become
easier to read. Poole s writing definitely leaned more toward the educational side than the
emotional side as it seemed to read more like a textbook than his own thoughts. However, there
are a few examples in his writing that if he made an effort, he could establish pathos much better.
For example, Francisco de Chicora could have made for a great story to establish pathos as he
was a native who was kidnapped by Spanish explorers and was forced into a different religion but
was able to escape from them (179). However, the reader learns the bulk of that information in the
footnotes rather than by reading an emotional story that would help establish the pathos in his
writing. Poole is not able to evoke much, if any,

Comparing C. S. Lewis The Witch, And The Wardrobe
It is through living a life filled with change and experience that Clive Staples Lewis was able to
confidently proclaim, Is any pleasure on earth as great as a circle of Christian friends by a fire
(The Quotable 223)? Without the events that led C. S. Lewis to this mindset, his famed novels
would probably be nonexistent. The various aspects of Lewis s life inspiring his works are
especially prominent in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, an installment in his series The
Chronicles of Narnia. These moments allowed Lewis to learn, mature, and grow as a person.
Additionally, Lewis was able to draw from these experiences as vast inspiration for unique ideas
and themes. An imaginative and free thinking childhood, a collaborative friendship... Show more

S. Lewis wanted to share the gift of God with the world. However, Charles Moorman notes in
Contemporary Literary Criticisms that Lewis wanted to complete this feat in an unforced and
subtle way. His goal was to present Christianity from a non Christian point of view. Furthermore,
he aspired to lure people back to the Church and away from laboratories and science (324). Due to
his religion, the power of good versus the power of evil was an extremely prevalent theme and
focus in Lewis s works according to Kathryn Ann Lindskoog. Lewis was also fond of the
Christian idea that good, or Christ, always triumphs over evil (263). In 1 John 1:9, Jesus death
grants forgiveness to the rest of the world, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will
forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness (NIV). Similarly, Lewis often
incorporated the idea that the fall of man ultimately brings good to others in his novels. It is this
idea of self sacrifice that thoroughly fascinated Lewis. However, Lewis was aware the people
may be skeptical of his religion, as he once was. Because of this, his works sometimes
incorporated elements of skepticism (Moorman 324). Converting to Christianity was a huge step in
Lewis s life and he wanted to subtly let his readers know about this fantastic

The Use Of Sodium Dodecyl Sulphate ( Sds ) Polyacrylamide...
Feedback/Response
The overall feedback was to state the aim and conclusion clearly, include more in text citations and
references and be more detailed in elements of experimental errors. This feedback was taken into
account, as I have included more in text citations and references, expanded on experimental errors
in more detail and ensured my aim and conclusion is clear.
Abstract
The purpose of this investigation was to identify the class of immunoglobulins using, sodium
dodecyl sulphate (SDS) Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis (PAGE); by making deductions about
the structure and molecular organisation of the protein. The experiment was conducted to calculate
the unknown molecular mass for reduced and non reduced immunoglobulin, using SDS PAGE by
measuring the distance migrated. Even though the method is intrinsically inaccurate, it s enough
to deduct the class of immunoglobulin using Mr The experiment displayed that the distance
migrated decreased as the molecular mass (Mr) increased. Based on the number of bands visible
on the gel, it was concluded that sample A was reduced with 2 bands; heavy chain with Mr of
52.939 kDa and light chain with Mr of 23.470 kDa. Whereas the B sample was non reduced, with a
total molecular mass of 152.415 kDa. This illustrates that both reduced and non reduced
immunoglobulins are of class IgG.
Introduction
The SDS PAGE technique is used to identify immunoglobulins. As Shi and Jackowski (1998)
explain; electrophoresis is a process of

Religious Freedom In The United States
There are many things that comply to the importance of religious freedom. Many of which we
take for granted. If anything, it is our fundamental right to have this freedom, for everyone. There
are even a few laws that comply to religious freedom, for example the 1998 International Religious
Freedom Act (IRFA) , this law issues to the United Statesto criticize mistakes that comply to
religious freedom. It also helped advocate the right of religious freedom.
Even though Congress thought it was essential in the IRFA to make clear how easily we can
forget how important our religious freedom is. Many people take advantage of our religious
freedom, or they just don t care. Take for example people who don t go to church. One thing wrong

Religious freedom isn t just being able to practice whatever religion you want, it also complies to
the separation a church and state. This meaning that the government has absolutely no right to
punish us for doing something non Christian in the church. So in theory, they can not punish us for
committing sins within the church. Back in 1700, they would use pillories to humiliate the sinner,
or even if the sin was bad enough, hang them. Other punishments back in 1700 include; having a T
branded into their hand for theif , being whipped multiple times, or just normal public humiliation.
Of course some of these are harsh punishments, like hanging them for committing a simple sin.
That s why religious freedom is so important, if it wasn t for religious freedom, the world as we
know it wouldn t be like the way it is today. Many people of the world don t have religious
freedom like we do and they have to constantly hide their worships, if they get caught, well it s
most likely off with their head. Most people take this for granted, but once you get to thinking
about it, you realize just how lucky we Americans

This is where his mentally stressful life started to affect him. Charles was on most occasions, not

remarried another local lord s daughter (Leila) and within the year she became pregnant with

The Boom in Robotic Population
Introduction According to the report of International Federation of Robotics in 2008 the world s
robot population has reached 8.6 million. That is a little less than the population of New Jersey
(Guizzo, Erico). From this data it is clear that lots of people do not realize how much they are
surrounded by robots already at the present time. Additionally from year to year number of these
robots is growing as technology and science are developing faster than it seems. This essay will
discuss drawbacks and benefits of using robots in the future, by evaluating negative and positive
impacts of robotics. Research will begin by evaluating the economic factors of using robots. It
will then proceed to investigate the social factors and will analyze the judgments of society.
Main body Economic factors of using robots From the economic point of view using robots is
not advantageous. Firstly in the future some jobs will become extinct. According to Rob
Rawson, co founder of Staff.com, after serious crashes caused by a human operated air traffic
controller, in 2034 the government will mandate that all air traffic must be controlled by Artificial
Intelligence agents. Moreover in 2028 Google is going to produce perfect audio translator,
indistinguishable from the best bi linguists. It means that human translators and interpreters will
lose their working places. Similarly as self driving cars become main stream, there will be no need
for taxi drivers by 2038 (Rawson, Rob). To conclude with

Once you begin a career in nursing you have a sturdy job for life. History Bisk(2016) claimed

Genre Analysis Of Mabel
One genre of podcast that I find intriguing for various nostalgic and inexplicably self punitive
reasons, is that which explores the eeriness of the world, reminiscent in ways of old time horror

however, when he is recounting the night of the murders from the perspective of a neighbour,
Boudet includes a cheesy gunshot sound effect that takes away from the gravity of the moment.
There are also a number of moments where unsettling music is played for a significant period of
time, around 15 20 seconds, after Boudet reveals a key part of the story that in my opinion, felt
awkwardly lengthy. While I found the music itself to be effective in evoking feelings of unease, the
timing of certain musical elements and sound effects was not quite right and thus distracting at

in Spain. After reading some books about chivalry, he becomes obsessed with it and decides to
revive chivalry in the world. He wants to bring justice and peace back to the world. He sets off on
his first adventure and returns unsuccessful, so he decides he needs a squire. He persuades Sancho

Leadership Theory Of Leadership Theories Essay
In today s 21st century world of business, good management is essential in organisations and that
managers have to be leaders as well (Samson Daft 2014). The statement that true leaders are born
with important traits such as intelligence, honesty, self confidence...and appearance is unfitting but
rather successful development of leadershipis achieved through the transformational leadership
theory. This essay will describe the trait transformational based leadership theories, on its effective
purpose and compare and contrast it through reasoning backed up by academic sourcing.
According to the trait based theory of leadership, certain integrated patterns of personal
characteristics develop the ability to lead a group of people effectively. (Zaccaro 2007). Here the
word trait is defined as The distinguishing personal characteristics of a leader, such as
intelligence, honesty, self confidence and even appearance (pg 612, Samson Daft 2014). Trait
based leadership is based on the idea that people born with certain qualities and characteristics are
more suitable for leadership. It was achieved by identifying the traits of many leaders, both
successful and unsuccessful, and looking into their physical, emotional, and cognitive traits that
made them who they were. (Derue, D. S., Nahrgang, J. D., Wellman, N., Humphrey, S. E. 2011).
By studying the likes of leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr, Gandhi and even controversial
leaders like Hitler, researchers interpreted

Physical Development in Middle Childhood
There are many important factors to consider when teaching students aged in their middle
childhood (6 10 years) and planning curriculum. During this time the student s physical
development is changing dramatically and as teachers we need to understand the changes they are
going through so we can adjust the learningenvironment accordingly. By physical I of course
mean the development of the body, brain and motor skills. I will now explain the importance of all
factors needed for excellent physical growth and development in the middle childhoodyears.

It s in the children s nature to want to be active in sports and it gives them the stimulation and
organisation that they need. It s also in some children s nature to be shy and reserved. It s
important for all students to be improving their skills but most important for the more reserved
children. Inactivity will only perpetuate their shyness because they are missing out on group
activities in a fun environment. Being a part of a team helps confidence and communication
with their peers. Children need to embrace being active from early on especially now as their
bodies crave being active they will associate activity with fun . Inability to develop their gross
motor skills can lead to the children feeling sluggish, weight will be gained lowering their
confidence and increasing the risk of obesity and their relationship with physical activity will be
mentally unhealthy. Inability to develop their fine motor skills is also just as important. This is
the time where children need to perfect their handwriting, craft making and reading these are very
important skills that they will need for the rest of their lives. If children find they don t excel at
these skills they will find they get frustrated, it lowers they confidence and willingness to try and
parts of their brain are underdeveloped. For example in this

Psychological Explanation To Stockholm Syndrome
The Psychological Explanation to Stockholm Syndrome
There has been intriguing research on what is the Stockholm Syndrome, why people experience it,

gratefulness that their life has been spared. They regard it to be a blessing and are thankful to the
captors for not killing them.

Today consumers are more aware of the negative effects (air pollution) caused by cars. They
know what the affects can cause to the earth and therefore consumers are more likely to buy

individual to self centered and selfish. This is apparent in Claudette s frame of mind towards her

Women in magazines are usually tall, extremely thin, and their faces are covered in makeup.
Women can easily develop insecurities in the way they look and feel about themselves because of
magazines. Women choose to read certain magazines according to their interests. However, their
interests are usually congruent with those of the majority of women or they wouldn t be reading
that particular magazine and those magazines wouldn t stay in business. On the flip side of the
sex factor, influences from magazines such as For Him magazine and Maxim weigh heavily on
many men s self security. These magazines teach men not only how they should look but also how
they should view things. An example of this is a macho, semi sexist, tough guy, bull headed, over
confident attitude. These magazines define for men the writer s essence of a real man. Men as a
whole atone themselves to such lifestyles probably out of fear of not living by these structures.
Although magazines have a strong influence on the masses they are by no means the most

Artificial Grafts Research Paper
Abstract
Anterior cruciate ligament ruptures occur 100,000 to 200,000 annually in the United States. It is a
key knee stabilizer and is a recognized injury in both professional and recreational activities. It can
tear from a hard hit to the side, overextending the knee or quickly stopping while changing direction
while running, landing from a jump or turning. Attempts of ACL reconstruction using silver,
stainless wires, nylon, silk strings, and various synthetic fibers were first used in the beginning of
the 20th century to make artificial grafts; the first experiment failed within the first 3 months.

Break A Leg Identity
A Mysterious Identity and Dark Humor Maintain Suspense in Break A Leg
By: Emma Morgan
Jesse Shamata s Break A Leg, which focuses on a hitman discussing his life philosophy with an
unknown subject, creates and sustains suspense through the combination of a hidden identity and
dark humor.
Concealing the identity of the person sitting with the main character a hitman is what makes this
short film particularly unique and intriguing. It s not often that a film leaves the viewer wondering
who the protagonist is talking to until its last few minutes. This technique builds suspense because
the viewer doesn t know what the hitman s intentions are in talking to this person, if this person
will be harmed by the end of the film, or even what this person looks like.
The extreme close ups of the hitman as he talks about harming people also add to this suspense
because they prevent the viewer from seeing much of the hitman s surroundings at the beginning of
the film. Instead, the viewer is forced to focus on the hitman s hardened appearance and his rough
voice. However, there are some shots of other characters reacting to what the hitman is saying ...

crumpler. (This is in reference to how a person uses toilet paper.) He relates this back to how much
control people want to have in their lives and how this affects them. This sequence, in particular,
utilizes a dark sense of humor. It forces the viewer to laugh at the absurdity of this conversation
about bathroom habits, while they remain frightened for whomever the hitman is telling this

How Did St Augustine Religion Influence Teens
When you think about Augustine s confession, you think about the new generation. In other words,
the conversion that happened over a thousand years ago can be closely related to teenagers of the
21st century. Before Christianity was developed, a lot of people, especially the Roman emperors
could not accept it. They condemned and harassed the Christians who would claim their faith.
When Christianitywas finally accepted, there were still people who contradict with the Christian
faith.
Teenagers today find it difficult to come to God, they do not take a straight path. This is similar to
what St Augustine did, teenagers of today try to find meaning in life by being experimental with
different religions or cults. Augustine experimented with the Manicheans, a Persian dualist cult that
believed in two competing gods. The only difference between teenagers of today and Augustine is
that teenagers of today do not go to extreme as St Augustine did rather, they experiment with some
of the main religions. Augustine later saw through the Persian dualist cult and abandoned it. His

Analysis Of The Man In Mccarthy s The Road
In a world that was changed by chaos, The Man remained the same man from the beginning of the
novel until the end. Throughout his journey on The Road, The Man s dedication to the survival of

his expedition on The Roadthe same manas when he started it.
At the beginning of the novel, the reader is introduced to the one defining character trait of The
Man: his devotion to his son. This concept is a staple in The Man s personality, and greatly
affects his actions. We see his devotion through small acts like how The Man sleeps with The
Boy to keep him warm and how The Boy always drinks, eats, and bathes before The Man. The
reader sees a larger example of this commitment when a bad guy threatened The Boy with a knife.
The Man swiftly and ruthlessly shot the man who fell back instantly and lay with blood bubbling
from the hole in his forehead. (McCarthy.). Rather than simply incapacitating the bad guy, The Man
made sure that at least that man would never be able to hurt or threaten The Boy again. The Man is
not only devoted to his son, but he is committed to his goals of heading South. Even though they
made some stops along the way, the idea of getting South and to the shore never wavered from The
Man s head. The intensity that The Man devoted to protecting The Boy continued as their journey
did. When someone started shooting the two men with arrows, the readers were treated to

The Evolution Of Female Identity
The Evolution of Female Identity
Characterization through stereotyping female identity creates weak characters bound by gender
expectations. The evolution of dimensional working girl protagonists develops an unconventional
female identity, which breaks the common tropes of a woman s role in literature and society.
Independent female archetypes often adopt masculine qualities to achieve status, earnest
acceptance and independence in a man s world. The heroine, Nancy Drew, promotes the corrosion
of traditional female identity, inheriting male identified traits to express success and strength. In the
first chapter of Carolyn Keene s mystery novel, The Message in the Hollow Oak, the archetype of a
strong female character equates success from transcending into male identified personality,
reverting from tradition femininity and adopting male qualifies to express strong independent
characteristics. Through the narrative exposition and indirect integration of character development
through dialogue and inner monologue, female characters within the novel display strength by
identifying with masculine strength. Female identity is contrasted through the characterization of
George and Bess, identifying two representations of femininity as one that conforms to the norms of
gender within society, and one who equates boyish physical appearance with strength and success.
In the novel, character development is displayed through narrative exposition and dialogue. Female

immediately fails the debt like feature test. Bionic did not lend money to Hearts, and Hearts does
not incur interest expense. Also, Conceptual Framework 6 suggests preferred stock also often has
both debt and equity characteristics, and some preferred stocks may effectively have maturity
amount and dates at which they must be redeemed for cash. This quote indicates that it is to the
accountant s best judgement.
By following the the Thornton s series of tests and the codification, Team 6 recommends Alternative
A(1), classify the preferred shares in the equity section of the balance sheet.
Alternative A(2) According to the same ASC 25 16, Hearts could classify it in the debt section
because 25 16 states that classifying preferred stock as a debt instrument is more common. For

One thing that really stood out was when Dihara said how that all brown people become doctors or engineers because of their parents. The doctor said if I were to die, so would my mother. Luckily, we both survived and the doctor told my mother don t worry one day I will become a great doctor. • 4. Characteristics Of Beowulf Beowulf: A True Christian Hero A hero is someone who demonstrates acts of courage which is accompanied by a high moral character. A Christian hero not only demonstrates these qualities, but they also stay true to the will of God and demonstrate a sense of faith. This requires being selfless, obedient in faith, and most importantly having tremendous courage. The character Beowulf, in the epic poem by the same name, presents all these characteristics. Throughout the poem his character matures and ultimately becomes a better leader, which makes these traits all the more present. Beowulf s quality of leadership and passion for the well being of others truly defines a Christian hero. Exhibiting selflessness is a characteristics that plays a great deal in how others perceive you. Beowulf was a type of leader that did not think twice before helping those in need. In many cases he was willing to sacrifice himself for the better good of his people, which is the ultimate act of selflessness. But in the very beginning, even before he was king of his own land he exhibited his selfless nature. He did this by coming to the aid of Hrothgar, the king of the Danes. The following excerpt, Beowulf kindness is revealed, When he heard about Grendel, Hygelac thane was on home ground, over i Gretland. There was no one else like him alive. In his day, he was the mightiest man on earth, highborn and powerful. He ordered a boat that would ply the waves. He announced his plan: to sail the swan s road and seek out that king, the famous prince who needed defenders. Nobody tried to keep him from going, no elder denied him,der as he was to them. (Beowulf; lines 194 203). Beowulf went on to defeat of grendel and his mother, two monsters ploughing Hrothgar and his people. This act gained him respect his selfless act blossomed into the blessing of him one day becoming a king himself. Beowulf did not have to come to the aid of the king but did so anyway. He, from the beginning, wanted to help anyone in need, no one could or would stop him from accomplishing this goal. He sacrifice his life for the wellbeing of people who were in a neighboring country, it goes to say that he would obviously seek to go beyond that for his own. Heroism is ... • 5. My Family s Summer Cabin My family s summer cabin was along the south coast line of Norway. Since it s a time share between my entire father s side of the family, we were not able to spend as much time as we sometimes wanted to there. Therefore, one summer when I was 11 years old my parents sent me to spend time alone with my grandmother at the summer house. In Norway its common to share a cabin with your entire mother s or father s side of the familyand have specific weeks where each family can stay at the cabin. This summer my family was not able to take advantage of our week at the cabin, therefore I was sent to spend time with my grandmother. They were brothers that spent their entire summers on the island. The older one named Nils was the more experienced and tougher of the two, while the younger brother Per usually just followed his older sibling around. In my young and impressionable age, I looked up to Per and Nils. They had qualities that I admired such as being leaders from a young age and being experienced in taking initiative. I remember one previous adventure I had had with them were they took me out on their little rubber boat in the ocean to shoot seagulls with their BB gun. This incident showed me that Nils and Per were quite the young risk takers since shooting seagulls is illegal in Norway outside of certain areas and seasons. One day we decided to traverse all the way to the other side of the island where none of us had gone before. Being relatively inexperienced with hiking on the island I did not have very good shoes to hike in the terrain. I was wearing flat soled slip on shoes. Despite doubting if that I had the correct footwear to be hiking I decided to go with them anyway as to not seem wimpy in the presence of two young experienced hikers. While traversing slanted rocks and mossy grounds, my flat shoes, that I had absolutely no business in hiking in slipped. I was sent tumbling like a wild log down the slant of the mountain. • 6. The Standard American Business Suit Essay It s happened to all of us. You re standing in front of your closet, staring into the deep abyss of clothing in front of you. In a frantic search to find a suitable outfit for the day, you shuffle through the myriad amounts of color options in front of you. Mystical teals, burnt oranges and chocolaty browns fill your gaze. You just cannot seem to find anything that you would feel comfortable wearing for the day. In terms of style, coloris the cornerstone. Many, however, lack the ability to color coordinate. The color of what we wear can exude an impact much greater than we could even define. The topic of the unspoken language of color will allow those who are less fashionable to gain an understanding of the silent essence their clothing gives off. The unspoken social language of color is one that relays who we are. It can emit our emotions, our personality and allow us to relive eras of our humanity. The standard American business suit is an example. Following a basic formula, it involves a grey suit, white shirt, deep toned tie, and white pocket square with either black shoes. The dark tones are closely tied with authority and leadership. There are a handful of ways to play around with this, but if you wish to convey the message that you re there for business, you ll stick to the basic formula. Substitute the white shirt out for light blue, and suddenly the suit means something completely different. Drop the white pocket square for a greenor orange, and the message ... • 7. Ethos Pathos And Logos Analysis Before the building of architectural achievements such as the Roman Colosseum, the Taj Mahal, and the Windsor Castle, a Greek philosopher named Aristotle had created the three pillars of persuasive speech over 2,000 years ago. These three pillars are known as ethos, logos, and pathos. The architectural feats mentioned above had been created to last and withstand demolition from external forces such as the weather, aging, and cracking/erosion. Just like these buildings are structured, an argument needs to be well put together so it cannot be torn apart. This resulted in the creation of the three pillars. In the reading of Monstrous Beginnings, the author, W. Scott Poole, uses Aristotle s three pillars attempting to convince the reader that among... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pathos involves getting an emotional response from the reader, which is something that Poole struggles to do in this writing. Although it is truly unfortunate how certain groups of people were treated back then, Poole struggles to make you feel any sympathy for how the minorities were treated. He does not include many stories that invoke feelings of anger towards the treatment of the natives or pity or sorrow towards them. Another part that made his writing hard to read or feel any emotion over were his long winded sentences. Many sentences went on longer than they should have, or could have been cut in half to make shorter sentences so the material would become easier to read. Poole s writing definitely leaned more toward the educational side than the emotional side as it seemed to read more like a textbook than his own thoughts. However, there are a few examples in his writing that if he made an effort, he could establish pathos much better. For example, Francisco de Chicora could have made for a great story to establish pathos as he was a native who was kidnapped by Spanish explorers and was forced into a different religion but was able to escape from them (179). However, the reader learns the bulk of that information in the footnotes rather than by reading an emotional story that would help establish the pathos in his writing. Lewis The Witch, And The Wardrobe It is through living a life filled with change and experience that Clive Staples Lewis was able to confidently proclaim, Is any pleasure on earth as great as a circle of Christian friends by a fire (The Quotable 223)? Without the events that led C. S. Lewis to this mindset, his famed novels would probably be nonexistent. The various aspects of Lewis s life inspiring his works are especially prominent in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, an installment in his series The Chronicles of Narnia. These moments allowed Lewis to learn, mature, and grow as a person. Additionally, Lewis was able to draw from these experiences as vast inspiration for unique ideas and themes. An imaginative and free thinking childhood, a collaborative friendship... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... S. Lewis wanted to share the gift of God with the world. However, Charles Moorman notes in Contemporary Literary Criticisms that Lewis wanted to complete this feat in an unforced and subtle way. His goal was to present Christianity from a non Christian point of view. Furthermore, he aspired to lure people back to the Church and away from laboratories and science (324). Due to his religion, the power of good versus the power of evil was an extremely prevalent theme and focus in Lewis s works according to Kathryn Ann Lindskoog. Lewis was also fond of the Christian idea that good, or Christ, always triumphs over evil (263). In 1 John 1:9, Jesus death grants forgiveness to the rest of the world, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness (NIV). Similarly, Lewis often incorporated the idea that the fall of man ultimately brings good to others in his novels. It is this idea of self sacrifice that thoroughly fascinated Lewis. However, Lewis was aware the people may be skeptical of his religion, as he once was. Because of this, his works sometimes incorporated elements of skepticism (Moorman 324). Converting to Christianity was a huge step in Lewis s life and he wanted to subtly let his readers know about this fantastic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Use Of Sodium Dodecyl Sulphate ( Sds ) Polyacrylamide... Feedback/Response The overall feedback was to state the aim and conclusion clearly, include more in text citations and references and be more detailed in elements of experimental errors. This feedback was taken into account, as I have included more in text citations and references, expanded on experimental errors in more detail and ensured my aim and conclusion is clear. Abstract The purpose of this investigation was to identify the class of immunoglobulins using, sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis (PAGE); by making deductions about the structure and molecular organisation of the protein. The experiment was conducted to calculate the unknown molecular mass for reduced and non reduced immunoglobulin, using SDS PAGE by measuring the distance migrated. Even though the method is intrinsically inaccurate, it s enough to deduct the class of immunoglobulin using Mr The experiment displayed that the distance migrated decreased as the molecular mass (Mr) increased. Based on the number of bands visible on the gel, it was concluded that sample A was reduced with 2 bands; heavy chain with Mr of 52.939 kDa and light chain with Mr of 23.470 kDa. Whereas the B sample was non reduced, with a total molecular mass of 152.415 kDa. This illustrates that both reduced and non reduced immunoglobulins are of class IgG. If anything, it is our fundamental right to have this freedom, for everyone. The Million Man March showed people what America s workplace and marketplace would look like without the participation of African Americans; empty. The U.S. was built on the backs of the ancestors of hard working African Americans who collectively make significant contributions to America s earning and spending power. Otha Farley writes They served notice that no longer will African Americans, particularly African American males, view themselves as a powerless people, but as a force to be reckoned with. The image of unmotivated, irresponsible, politically apathetic people is no longer acceptable to these sons of slaves, who are, more accurately, sons of builders of this nation. • 31. Break A Leg Identity A Mysterious Identity and Dark Humor Maintain Suspense in Break A Leg By: Emma Morgan Jesse Shamata s Break A Leg, which focuses on a hitman discussing his life philosophy with an unknown subject, creates and sustains suspense through the combination of a hidden identity and dark humor. Concealing the identity of the person sitting with the main character a hitman is what makes this short film particularly unique and intriguing. It s not often that a film leaves the viewer wondering who the protagonist is talking to until its last few minutes. This technique builds suspense because the viewer doesn t know what the hitman s intentions are in talking to this person, if this person will be harmed by the end of the film, or even what this person looks like. The extreme close ups of the hitman as he talks about harming people also add to this suspense because they prevent the viewer from seeing much of the hitman s surroundings at the beginning of the film. Instead, the viewer is forced to focus on the hitman s hardened appearance and his rough voice. However, there are some shots of other characters reacting to what the hitman is saying ... It seems especially odd that the hitman would go on an extended tangent about being able to tell if a person is a folder or a crumpler. (This is in reference to how a person uses toilet paper.) He relates this back to how much control people want to have in their lives and how this affects them. This sequence, in particular, utilizes a dark sense of humor. It forces the viewer to laugh at the absurdity of this conversation about bathroom habits, while they remain frightened for whomever the hitman is telling this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In other words, the conversion that happened over a thousand years ago can be closely related to teenagers of the 21st century. Before Christianity was developed, a lot of people, especially the Roman emperors could not accept it. They condemned and harassed the Christians who would claim their faith. When Christianitywas finally accepted, there were still people who contradict with the Christian faith. Teenagers today find it difficult to come to God, they do not take a straight path. This is similar to what St Augustine did, teenagers of today try to find meaning in life by being experimental with different religions or cults. Augustine experimented with the Manicheans, a Persian dualist cult that believed in two competing gods. Yes, I do think that the extinction had to deal with some kind of mass cloud coming over ruining the living conditions, but this theory is too over the place for me to say that I completely agree with it. I believe that the ideas about how the fog cloud could have covered the entire earth, but if it were to do that I feel like it would have created a mass extinction. Not just a dinosaur extinction. Throughout his journey on The Road, The Man s dedication to the survival of The Boy and never faltered, and stayed constant no matter what life threw at him. The Man ended his expedition on The Roadthe same manas when he started it. At the beginning of the novel, the reader is introduced to the one defining character trait of The Man: his devotion to his son. This concept is a staple in The Man s personality, and greatly affects his actions. We see his devotion through small acts like how The Man sleeps with The Boy to keep him warm and how The Boy always drinks, eats, and bathes before The Man. The reader sees a larger example of this commitment when a bad guy threatened The Boy with a knife. The Man swiftly and ruthlessly shot the man who fell back instantly and lay with blood bubbling from the hole in his forehead. (McCarthy.). Rather than simply incapacitating the bad guy, The Man made sure that at least that man would never be able to hurt or threaten The Boy again. The Man is not only devoted to his son, but he is committed to his goals of heading South. Even though they made some stops along the way, the idea of getting South and to the shore never wavered from The Man s head. The intensity that The Man devoted to protecting The Boy continued as their journey did. When someone started shooting the two men with arrows, the readers were treated to ... • 39. The Evolution Of Female Identity The Evolution of Female Identity Characterization through stereotyping female identity creates weak characters bound by gender expectations. The evolution of dimensional working girl protagonists develops an unconventional female identity, which breaks the common tropes of a woman s role in literature and society. Independent female archetypes often adopt masculine qualities to achieve status, earnest acceptance and independence in a man s world. The heroine, Nancy Drew, promotes the corrosion of traditional female identity, inheriting male identified traits to express success and strength. In the first chapter of Carolyn Keene s mystery novel, The Message in the Hollow Oak, the archetype of a strong female character equates success from transcending into male identified personality, reverting from tradition femininity and adopting male qualifies to express strong independent characteristics. Through the narrative exposition and indirect integration of character development through dialogue and inner monologue, female characters within the novel display strength by identifying with masculine strength. Female identity is contrasted through the characterization of George and Bess, identifying two representations of femininity as one that conforms to the norms of gender within society, and one who equates boyish physical appearance with strength and success.
