An Analysis of Alice Walker s quot;everyday Use quot; Essay
p
An Analysis of Alice Walker s Everyday Use p Alice Walker s novel, The Color Purple, won the
Pulitzer Prize in 1982. This novel, in addition to her short story collections and other novels,
continue to touch the emotions of a vast audience. This ability, according to critics, has solidified
her reputation as one of the major figures in contemporary literature (Gwynn 462). Born to
sharecroppers in Eatonton, Georgia, in 1944, Alice Walkers life was not always easy. Her parents
strived to provide a home at a time when political and social unrest were at their highest. According
to critic Barbara Christian, [T]hat oppression fosters a sustaining spirit that appears in Walker s

To her and to Maggie, it is about all the little fabrics that went into p making the quilts. Each one
of those little pieces of material signify something in someone s life. Using the quilts everyday,
makes the work and the memories a part of daily existence. There is also the knowledge that if
they wear out, new quilts can be made with new fabrics and new memories. p Everyday Use is
about the relationship between a mother and her two daughters. In the beginning, the mother is
very proud of her oldest daughter Dee s accomplishments, but also realizes that Dee has never
been proud of where she came from. Dee comes home with a new interest in her heritage, and she
wants to take back with her some things from home, including two quilts. These quilts are not
wanted for sentimental reasons but as artwork to impress other people. The quilts have been
promised to the younger sister, Maggie. Maggie is very intimidated by Dee. The story is about the
conflict between the two sisters concerning the quilts and the change in perspective that comes to
the mother as this conflict takes place. p The mother in this story, who is also the narrator, is a
strong independent woman. The mother, while waiting for Dee to arrive for a visit, remembers
Dee as very resentful and ashamed of her family history. She secretly wishes that Dee

Conversion To Catholic Christianity
Conversion to Catholic Christianity was made by one of the first Frankish kings Clovis in 496,
and such conversion had a profound political influence on the future development of the
Carolingians. During the beginning of the Carolingian dynasty, Pepin the Short, son of the
Mayor of the Palace, was the one who had the real power, but he was not satisfied. He looked for
a powerful outside force, that is Roman Church at this time, to approve his powerful position,
since there was no more effective way than religion to control the beliefs of people. With the help
of PopeStephen, Pepin was the selected king according to the custom of franks(39). He was holy
anointed and confirmed as king by Pope Stephen in 754, and thus inheriting from God

Symbolism In The White Heron
The White Heron depicts a story of a little girl who leads a life of respect and love of nature
rather than that of fortune. Early on in the story, she meets a boy who is a self proclaimed
ornithologist, a scientist that studies birds. He is willing to pay ten dollars to whomever can
show him the White Heron he had once seen. It is now up to Sylvia, the young girl, to make a
decision either in favor of the ornithologist or the white heron. Ultimately, she will be making a
decision to acquiesce to male dominance or not. The pine tree in which Sylvia climbs in order
to see the white heron up close can be represented as a symbol of life. Now she thought of the
tree with a new excitement, for why, if one climbed it at break of day, could not one see all the
world, and easily discover whence the white heron flewВ… (Jewett 466). The tree actually takes
on the characteristics of an animal, when Sylvia is climbing the tree and the twigs scratch her
with angry like talons (Jewett 466). Sylvia continues on this obstacle up and up the tree, and
continuing on towards her revelation. The birds of the forest begin to sing louder and louder as
Sylvia climbs, meaning she is coming ever so closely to the top of the tree or the climax of her
new life. She finally sees the white heron and is eager with anticipation to tell the boy of the path
to find it. Sylvia ventures home and the young ornithologist and Sylvia s grandmother are both
waiting for her. He can make them rich with money;

Essay Alexander Graham Bell
Alexander Graham Bell, a man who best known for inventing the telephone. Most people don t
know he spent the majority of his life teaching and helping the deaf. Educating the hearing impaired
is what he wished to be remembered for.
Bell was born on March 3, 1847, in Edinburgh, Scotland. His mother was a painter of miniature
portraits and also loved to play the piano even though she was nearly deaf. Aleck s mother knew
that he had a talent for music and always encouraged him to play (Matthews 12). Alexander
Melville Bell, his father, was a Professor of Elocution, Art of public speaking (Bruce 16). Due to
the fact that his father was a very knowledgeable man and a professor, Aleck obtained most of his...

To make sure that the student knew what part of the head the teacher was talking about, the teacher
would point to a particular part of the diagram and have the student touch that part of themselves.
When the diagram was up on the black board there were also darkened symbols on certain parts
such as the tip of nose, upper and lower lip etc. The next step was to erase all other lines and
have the student do the same procedure as before but this time they had to know where all the
symbols were. The purpose for learning all of these symbols was so that the teacher would be able
to get into more detailed diagrams and actually show the deaf student what part of the throat and
mouth to move to pronounce a particular sound (Bell 51 54).
Another way that he was able to teach his students was using the manometric, pressurized,
capsule, which enclosed a gas flame. The capsule worked when the vibrations of a voice acted
on a membrane that would expand the gas flame and result in a flickering like the teeth of a saw
(Mackenzie 66). The flickering would resemble the characteristics of a particular sound. The
reason that Bell wanted to use this device was to see if he could discover the shape or form of a
vibration that was a characteristic of the elements of English speech (Mackenzie 67). Then he
could represent this information on paper for the use of his deaf pupils. With this device he could
have a pupil put his

Essay On Screwball Comedy
Research Question: How does His Girl Friday stay within the bounds of the Hays Code while
challenging the culture of censorship in United States?
Milberg, Doris. The art of the screwball comedy: madcap entertainment from the 1930s to today.
McFarland, 2013.
Milberg s book dives into the popular screwball comedy genre that arose in the 1930s. The first few
chapters discuss the structure and major attributes of screwball comedies, highlighting the clever
dialogue, battle of the sexes, and physical elements that harken back to slapstick comedy films.
Popular tropes, such as ambitious newspaper reporters, and popular stars like Cary Grant from His
Girl Friday are featured. Milberg takes an in depth look at how films within the genre derived ...

Leff and Simmons book explores the history of film censorship, from the 1920 s Motion Picture
Producers and Distributors Association (MPPDA), to the Hays Code, to the current MPAA rating
system. The first half of the book gives a thorough background on the people who spearheaded the
efforts to enact censorship in Hollywood, especially focusing on MPPDA President William Hays
and Joseph Breen. Leff and Simmons detail the pre code vulgarity and blatant sexuality in films and
then recount the multitude of reactions of various stakeholders, including responses from the
Catholic church, newspaper mogul Randolph Hearst, the Women s Christian Temperance Union
(WCTU) and concerned public officials among many others. Ultimately, the book describes how
Hays is able to ward off federal intervention and Breen is able to enforce censorship of the Hays
Production Code in the film industry.
The book utilizes a wide variety of primary sources of films from the 1920s onward. Leff and
Simmons also use many newspaper and magazine articles that analyze censorship in films. They
utilize these sources to illustrate examples of how films went from having

A hero can be anyone, but my hero is like no other. She is the kindest lady in the world and will
give the shirt off her back for anyone in need. Money and time have never been in abundance to
my hero, but she does not care how much money someone has or how popular they are. All she
cares about is the smile on someone s face and the warmth in their heart. Those are the reasons
that my grandma Deb is my hero. The best word to describe my grandma is kind. She always

Ervin. The play follows the story of King Shahryar who marries a new virgin every night and then
kills her in the morning time. His pattern is stopped abruptly when the he marries Scheherezade,
who tells him a different story every night. She cleverly leaves out the ending to the story at the
end of the night to ensure that the King does not kill her come dawn. This pattern continues on for
1001 nights until the King decides to marry Scheherezade. The acting in the play was absolutely
marvelous, especially from the Shahryar, played by Kendall McGraw, and Scheherezade,

The Tragedy Of Medea Is No Different
Throughout many stories we always see the males at a powerful position and the women tend to
be the over bearing crazy type. Whenever something goes wrong we as the audience are always
quick to blame to female or say it s because she having a mental break down. The tragedy of
Medea is no different. We all assume that Medeatook her rage and acted out in an awful way due to
no fault of anyone else. But the truth is that if it wasn t due to Jasons selfishness and betrayal to
Medea, she would have never acted in the manner that she did, and the blame is to fall upon Jason.
The story of Medea starts off with Jason being sent to steal the Golden Fleece from Medea s
homeland. Through his journey Medea helps him recover the fleece by betraying her family and
even having her own brother killed. Medea leaves with Jason and returns to Corinth where they
marry and have two sons. Medea is betrayed by Jason when he leaves her for the Princess of
Corinth, which in return she releases her rage upon Jason and his new fiancГ©.
By breaking down this story we can see all the key points, all starting with Jason, on the progress
to Medea s rage and her ultimate sacrifice of her children. From the beginning we she Medea take
a strong affection to Jason, a handsome stranger that has arrived to gain the Golden Fleece.
Medea makes a deal with Jason to help him get the fleece if he promises to marry her. Jason agrees

Girls Are A Problem By Catalina Lobo-Guerrero
In El Salvador, Girls are a Problem
I don t want to go back to El Salvador, I felt afraid as a women there more than in any other
country in Latin America. This is how the author, Catalina Lobo Guerrero, begins her article. We
can already tell she is not a fan of El Salvador, and after reading what she had to say about it, it is
understandable.
Women in El Salvador are considered a problem. They are raped and killed, but somehow they are
the issue. El Salvador is listed among the world s deadliest countries for women. The article states
that in 2016 alone, 524 women were killed. These are only the bodies that are recovered and
brought to the morgue. There are countless others that are found in dumping grounds, but are not
recovered. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She talks to a specialist, Dr. Mendez who has had to deal with many women who have been
raped and left pregnant. Since abortion is illegal in El Salvador it is difficult for Dr. Mendez to
turn away the women who were raped. Dr. Mendez stated that she was once threatened with jail
time because she wanted to help a woman whose emergency contraception did not work after
she was raped. She was told not to get involved or she would be put behind bars. The author tells
of another story which involves a 19 year old girl who gave birth outside the hospital. Her baby
did not survive so she was convicted of aggravated homicide. The punishment is a 30 year prison
sentence. It is sad to think that a doctor trying to help a poor woman who is pregnant, not by
choice, will be put behind bars, but not the man who left her that way.
There should be a simple solution to the violence against women in El Salvador; if they all flee
the country then they will not have to experience any harm. That would be a solution, but
packing up and leaving your home is more difficult than it may seem. Sure, they would be away
from all the terrifying crimes, but they would no longer see their family and friends. It would be
extremely difficult to leave the country where you have spent your whole life. Women who leave
are just courageous as those who stay. It is a difficult decision leaving, but it is also a difficult
decision

Essay on The Customs of Rosh Hashanah
The Customs of Rosh Hashanah Rosh Hashanah falls on the first of Tishri, a Jewish month
which falls in September. It is regarded as a high holy day, on which all normal activity ceases.
Even those Jews who are not particularly observant will make an effort to attend the synagogue.
It is known as Yomim Norain, or day of awe. It is a day on which one should show humility to
God and acknowledge that whatever our intentions may be we will descend into sin. On this day
one should become particularly aware of sin, as it is a day for reflection. It is not intended to be a
negative activity, but to induce positive behavior, as it is very brave to face up to weaknesses and
mistakes . Rosh... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Often, fish is served, wit the symbolism that fish swim in shoals, and good deeds should be as
plentiful as the fish in a shoal. Nuts are never served, as letters in Hebrew have numerical value,
and the word nut has the same numerical value as the word sin. The next morning it is
customary for the whole family to go to the synagogue, which will be decorated in white. In
particular, the Parochet, which hangs in front of the ark every fabric is decked out in white, a
symbol of purity, to inspire a purer life. The rabbi will also be wearing white, to symbolize a
burial shroud, called a Kittel, reminding one of mortality. The service proceeds with normal
prayers, such as the Shinaar, the prevalent theme being that God is the King. The shofar is sounded
throughout, with three distinctive notes Tekiah, which is firm, Shebharim, which is a broken
sound, and Teruah, which is a tremor. The readings that take place are focused on motherhood,
particularly on the conception of Isaac. The last action of the festival takes place in the afternoon.
It is called Tashlich, meaning casting, casting away. Something should be symbolically cast away
into some water, casting away sin. b) Explain how Yom Kippur might affect the life of a Jew Yom

Lexi was in a tragic boating accident that, unfortunately, resulted in the loss of her lower left leg.
Countless amputees have given up on trying to become stronger and try to have a normal life
again, but, however, Lexi decided she was not going to be one of them. It was extremely hard
for her in the beginning because walking with prosthetics is a lot harder than walking regularly.
Lexi had to work twice as hard to be able to get used to the prosthetics and try to live on with it to
the best of her abilities. She kept working every day, going through physical therapy and other
methods to be able to walk better with prosthetics. Although her life would never be the same
again and would never be normal, Lexi made it her goal to try and get it to be as close to normal
as possible. She was a very athletic girl before the accident and wants to go back to the sports she
loves by training extra hard to make it to the Paralympics. Lexi also wants to become a physical
therapist to help other amputees with their struggles. She looks at her leg with pride, knowing
that she is living her life to the fullest and not letting the accident bring her spirit down. She will
keep putting in a lot of effort, thanks to modern science that has made and improved prosthetics
that will forever help her. Lexi is not going to let this get in her way of achieving her dream, which

also needed to know if my wanting to become a deacon was of God or was it to please my dad.

Departures Storm Jameson
In Departures, Storm Jameson depicts her isolation as a child and its continuation into adulthood.
Behind the cold barriers that Jameson builds around herself in both her child and adult life, an
unending cycle of fear continues within her. This cycle is reflected in the narrative structure of the
anecdote. Jameson s authorial choices to employ Labov s elements in a disjointed fashion and have
a brief complicating action reinforce her social detachment both as a child and an adult. Along with
the disjointed narrativeelements, an omitted coda and resolution convey that the detachment
continues throughout her life in a cycle of fear and isolation. With the intent of creating a
structural detachment that reflects her own emotional detachment, Jameson, as author, puts
together an orientation and complicating action that don t appear to go together. On a
September train ride, distant memories and thoughts blur past the grown Jameson s eyes, such
as the journeys made feverish by unmanageable longings and ambitions, night journeys in
wartime (15) and continue to make their way to the forefront of her mind with a picture of the
darkened corridor crammed with young men in clumsy khaki, smoking, falling asleep, [and]
journeys with a heavy baby in one arm (Jameson 15). Before Jameson as adult can make her way
back to her memory as a child, she must travel through many other memories of departures and
journeys. This roundabout way in which Jameson brings her reader into her memories
structurally reflects the detached feelings she has for herself as a child. It suggests a
physiological separation between Jameson and herself because she cannot easily think about her
past. These detached feelings are enforced textually when she uses the third person to refer to
herself as the child (15) and to those presumably close to her like her mother, whom she calls the
captain s wife (16). By creating this structural and textual detachment, Jameson emphasizes her
emotional isolation from herself as a child. Before speaking about herself as a child, she must
search through her memories like a knot of adders uncoiling themselves, (15) which suggests that it
is painful for Jameson to reach back to her childhood

Te poem by Robert Lowell seems as if he was remembering his mother s death and what he had
gone through during that time. He tells the story in a poem in a sequential order from being in the
hospital, being in the car with her dead body and finally in the cemetery burying her.
In the hospital we can see that he remembers that the nurse could only speak in Italian. We also see
that, he kind of knew that his mom was going to die because he says that there is only a week left
of her existence. By thinking about all this Robert Lowell starts to tear and I guess does cry.

List Factors Of Software And It Projects For Specific...
Current Research There has been extensive research carried out and articles written that list factors
of software and IT projects for specific countries. (Nasir, 2011) However, research shows that there
is a lack of concrete and aligned content specific to sustainable educational technology systems.
Researchon factors that lead to sustainable educational technology systems also lack deep or
targeted research. Alexander J. Romiszowski carried out the most closely aligned study, which
focused on factors leading to successful or failed educational technology innovation. However, in
this study, Romiszowski found that, many lists of critical factors were composed of opinions with
little supporting evidence by non practitioners. (Romiszowski, 2004) Throughout the research
process, there are number of indirectly related studies and literature that connect to sustainable
educational technology systems and factors that builds a foundation for future research.
In relation to sustainable educational technology, Beborah Lowther and a team researchers,
investigated the effectiveness of Tennessee EdTech Launch (TnETL), which was a technology
program development and implemented to meet technology standards set by the No Child Left

John Swift s A Modest Proposal
In Jonathan Swift s satirical work, A Modest Proposal, the reader is presented with a horrible
concept using extremely effective language and logos; Swift uses strong speech, rational tone, and
complex grammar to convince readers that eating children will solve all the problems in 19th
century Ireland. Swift s overall goals in his pamphlet, however, is not to actually encourage eating
babies, which is why it is of satire, but is instead to raise awareness of Ireland s conditions for
living, failing political figures, and the tyranny brought by England. Swift states in his sub title, For
Preventing the Children of poor People in Ireland, from being a Burden to their Parents or Country;
and for making them beneficial to the Public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea is so intense that it demonstrates the overall irony of the piece. It is also worth pointing
out that this line comes late in the essay. Swift lulls the reader into a false sense of trust by
beginning with descriptions of the position of the poor in Ireland. The reader may think at first
that this is a serious essay, making the point all the more loud when it eventually appears. The
idea itself comes from a very knowing American, which is a small attack on the Americas and
American colonies. Rhetorically, the first couple of quotes stated are the strongest in bringing
attention to Ireland s issues. It s comical in the fact that he uses such a horrible idea to raise the
red flags in the minds of the Irish people. In an earlier paragraph Swift writes, It is a melancholy
object to those who walk through this great town, or travel in the country, when they see the
streets, the roads, and cabin doors crowded with beggars of the female sex, followed by three,

Company Structure And Its Types Grounded On Australian...
Introduction:
This report is based on the knowledge about company structure and its types grounded on Australian
standards, the features which different organizations possess while functioning and the obligations
implied on them in light of Australian standards. Secondly the major differences between large and
small companies have also been discussed in this report, that what are those criteria which separate
large companies from small? And the last part discusses the role which the organizations are
playing in the progress of regulation of companies in Australia. The main purpose of these
procedures is to bring uniformity in the regulatory system of Australian companies.

3.No Liability Company:
This type of company is only in Australia, specifically for the mining companies. It can be
differentiated by any of the traditional companies their stakeholders are not responsible to pay calls
on unpaid shares. Purchasing of their shares is supposed to bind the shareholders into a binding
contract because of high degree of risk in the business of mining.
4.Unlimited Companies:
Such type of companies formed with or without a shared capital, but the liabilities of the members
are unlimited. At the time of company s liquidation for the payment of financial liabilities the
members of the company are obligated to settle those liabilities.
Proprietary (Private) Companies:
Private companies don t have shares for general public. In case of selling their shares to a new
shareholder requires approval from board of directors and with their mutual consent company s
shares can be transferred to any new shareholder. Such companies are required to have at least one
member up to the maximum limit of fifty members. These companies can be recognized as Pty Ltd

Indentured Servants Research Paper
Although many African Americans landed in Virginia in 1619 as slaves, in 1608 most
emigrants (who were mainly male) wanted to come to the New World by crossing the Atlantic
Ocean so badly that they agreed to become indentured servants. Those who were called Slaves
were there to serve for life while those who were called Indentured Servants only served for a
certain term. According to American Stories the amount of years that needed to be served
depended on the person s age; those who are younger get a longer term, while those who are
older, like nineteen, only get about five years. Many African Americans were called slaves because
of their servitude; and many were born into slaverybecause of the status follows the womb . Many

Taking a Look at Ancient Empires
Ancient Empires such as Gupta, Rome, Maya, and Rome were some important empires. They all
have Pros/Cons in their Empire. No empire was perfect, each empire had its own ups and downs.
The Romans had a strong military that gained lots of new land compared to the Mayans who did
not have a strong military because their military did not help gain lots of land and didn t really
defend their land well like the Romans did. Rome had better beliefs and religionsuch as Roman
mythology which had stronger beliefs compared to hinduism in Gupta. Even though, Maya enjoyed
good trade such as animal skin, and jade, Romans still had better architecture which was more
helpful. Rome has better characteristics compared to the other empires which makes it the most
successful.
When the idea comes to military, it is important that the military is strong so it can help protect
land/people and help the empire in gaining new land. Mayans didn t have a good military
compared to the military the Romans had. Furthermore, the Roman s military was strong because
they conquered lots of land in places like Italy, Malta, Spain, Portugal, and etc with strong
military tactics compared to the Mayan s military which didn t help in gaining lots of new land.
Weapons like shield, sandal, gladius, other weapons and smart strategies like the orb helped
Romans in achieving lots of new land. For example, The orb was a defensive position which
helped in the defense of the Romans. People can refute saying that Rome had

Addiction to Heroin
Heroin and its subsequent misuse has been a contentious issue plaguing society for decades. With
the advent of the internet, it is becoming more difficult to curtail many of the illegal activities
individuals engage in regards to drug use. Heroin in particular is very pervasive in the United
States as it is a drugthat is highly addictive. In America, drugs are becoming a very serious issue as
immigrants enter into the country illegally carrying the drug with them. Heroin, although mainly
created in Afghanistan and China, is often brought to the United States illegally from Latin
countries. By entering into the country these individuals provide drugs and other narcotics to
disseminate among the masses. Even more troublesome, it seems that little is being done to help
prevent the influence of drugs within American society (Eric, 2008). According to the 2008
National Survey on Drug Use, the number of current heroin users increased from 153,000 in 2007
to 213,000 in 2008. One issue that is especially interesting is substance abuseamong many young
individuals and how that affects HIV rates within the American population. Many individuals are
not concerned with drug use among the young population. It is my contention however, that drug
use among the young has a profound impact on the society in which we live in.
To begin, Heroin is an opiate drug which is extracted from the Asian opium poppy plant. Heroin is
usually seen as a white powdery substance. In rare instances

Marketing Technique For The Marketing Of Cool By Juliet...
For many years, corporations have targeted adults, but as the years progressed their main focus and
targeted audience have been children. Countless corporations often focus their products such as
toys, clothes, and drugs to children in order to increase their own economic gain. In Juliet Schor s
article, Selling to children: The Marketingof Cool , she mentions how products are accepted and
interpreted by children in today s society. However, in Eric Schlosser article, Kid Kustomers , he
emphasizes on the constant antagonizing strategies through ads and televisions shows to target
kids. Although Juliet Schors and Eric Schlosser are both speaking about corporations marketing to
children, their articles differ quite significantly. While they both speak about corporation and their
marketing directed to children, Schor maintains her focus on how society perceived these products
as cool or geeky, while Schlosser focuses his article on the negative way corporations have
marketed their products to underage children. In Schlosser s article, Kid Kustomers , the author
focuses on many disturbing facts as the marketing technique for tobaccoproducts used to target
children. It was really astounding to see that in the early 90 s these commercials of tobacco use
was made kid friendly through the use of the cartoon camel. The image itself became so popular
that they were compared to the images of Mickey Mouse. The author state, all of America s six

Causes Of The Lost Colony Of Roanoke
The lost colony of Roanoke is one of the most notorious mysteries in American history; the
cryptic clues left at the abandoned settlement and the lack of any concrete evidence make it the
focus of wild speculation and theories . Within three years what would have been the first
permanent English colony that was formed in the New World disappeared in 1590, only leaving
two small clues behind. The colony mayor John White returned to the island to discover the word
Croatoan had been carved into the palisade surrounding the settlement as well as Cro carved into a
nearby tree. It appeared as if the colonists had disassembled all buildings, packed up, and left
without a trace. Throughout extensive research and sweeping the island there have been no
remains or signs of Indian attacks found leaving one mysterious question unanswered: what was the
cause of the disappearance of the Roanoke colonyand where did they go? Roanoke was the first
English settlement in the New World, founded in August of 1585 by the English explorer Sir Walter
Raleigh. The first colony suffered the usual lack of food supplies and Indian attacks, forcing them
to return to England in 1586 on a ship that was captained by Sir Francis Drake. However, the
following year Raleigh had made the decision to send another hundred colonists under the oversight
of John White. The same situation that forced the original Roanoke colonists to return home began
to trouble the new colony. Later that year the colonists

Essay about The Gathering Text Response
Text Response Good Vs. Evil
Good vs. evil is a widely explored theme in Isobelle Carmody s novel The Gathering . It is most
evident in the battle between the Chain and the Kraken, however the more sinister, subtler acts of
evil occur when he attempts to make each member vulnerable by breaching their weaknesses.
While the physical examples such as the final battle, the murder of The Tod and the violent acts by
Buddha and his gang could certainly be classified as evil, it is my belief that the brainwashing of the
students and the fanatical powers of illusion Mr. Karle wields are more insidious, swiftly
inhabiting and manifesting in the minds of people in a way that is more powerful than any outright
acts of violence.
An example of how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example of evil occurs on page 247, when Nathanial recalls his father trying to kill him
Children should be seen and not heard he said, and his big hand closed around my neck. And

Nathanial s blood. Perhaps this is why Mr. Karle struggles to convert Nathanial and attempts to
compel him to join The Gathering.
One instance pertaining to the theme of Good Vs Evil in the novel can be found on pages 224
and 225. This part of the novel includes a battle between Nissa and a feral dog; this is a physical
battle between good and evil. This excerpt from the novel shows that the Chain do in fact fight a
physical battle against the malicious forces of darkness contained in Cheshunt.
An additional case of Good Vs Evil is found on page 257 Kill them all! Kill them all! the Kraken
shrieked May the Chain prevail long! This excerpt from the final battle in the novel demonstrates
the fact that the Chain must not only fight a physical battle against the dark forces of Cheshunt.
They must also use their unity as a weapon against the darkness
This final and convincing example of evil and brutality in the novel occurs on page 120 they held

Changing The Changing Of The Seasons
Changing of the Seasons Every season changes the look of the world differently. Some seasons
make the environment bloom while other seasons put the environment to rest for a period of time.
Seasons change from the blazing sun of summer, to the vivid colors of the fall, and then the
freezing snow of winter. Many people vary in which seasonthey relish the most, but I enjoy three
of the four seasons Mother Nature has to offer. I savor the time during the summer, fall, and winter
that I get to spend with family and friends. Nothing compares to the scorching heat of summer, the
chilling breeze of fall, or sub zero temperatures of the winter. I m a huge fan of the summer, fall,
and winter. Winter is the most wonderful time of the year. The white snow covers the ground like
white fluffy blanket. I stay indoors in the warm heat and enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate with
family and friends. I look out the window into the bright light made by the crystal white snow
and the shining sun. I walk outside in the frigid cold wrapped up in multiple layers of clothes to
protect me from the harsh winter winds. The town is at a silent stand still as snow covers all the
roads. I pick up a handful of snow, and take a bite it tastes like a flavorless sno cone. I walk a
couple blocks to see dozens of little kids riding sleighs down the icy slopes of Main Street. I make
my way back home, but I could hear a loud screeching noise almost as if someone was using a

In his poetry which he wrote during his time in jail, Breyten Breytenbach shows that his wife and
his love for her had a tremendous influence on his survival under the physically and emotionally

The thought of his wife allowed Breyten Breytenbach to escape from the horrors of his

world of space, peace and freedom created for him in her letters, memories of being together with

Understanding Of Basic Solubility Principles And...
The purpose of this experiment was to apply the understanding of basic solubility principles and
precipitation reactions to identify two unknown cations in a given solution. The first two processes
involved adding various acids and basis to the unknown solution to observe different precipitation
reactions. The unknown solution contained either silver or lead and either barium or calcium. For
unknown solution one, adding a sample of hydrochloric acid to the unknown solution started the
experiment. This was imperative because it triggered a precipitationreaction, creating PbCl2 or
AgCl. HCl was an ideal acid that was used because it was soluble to Calcium or Barium but
atleast partially insoluble to Ag and Pb, allowing for the Calcium or Barium to have remained in
solution, become isolated in a new test tube, and set aside for later use.1 The chloride ions are
much more attractive to the silver and lead ions compared to the calcium or barium, which allowed
some to precipitate while others to have remained in solution.2
After the initial decanter, deionized water was added to the precipitate and the tube was placed in
boiling water. This is an essential step, because this allows for the dissolution of any PbCl that
might have precipitated. Since PbCl is slightly insoluble, if there was Pb in the unknown solution,
the heating process would have caused it to become mostly soluble in the water. The addition of
heat as a source of energy was enough to break the attractive forces

How Did The Cash Register Change The World
Imagine running a business without a cash register. Imagine how unorganized, chaotic, and
difficult it would be to handle money through every employee without the cash register. This is
no longer a problem for any business anymore thanks to James Ritty. The cash register was
invented in 1879 by James Ritty, a saloonkeeper in Dayton, Ohio. (thecorememory.com). The
prototype machine had a large, clock like face and a row of keys for entering amounts from 5
cents to 95 cents (by fives) and from $1 to $9. A mechanism inside the machine recorded total sales.
(americanhistory.si.edu). This was how the first cash registerworked, and was the base model for
many more to come. He created this invention because he believed that his employees were
stealing money from his saloon, and with the cash register being invented, they no longer can.
Finally, the cash register was the most important invention in American history, due to its major
impact on businesses around the world. After the cash register was invented, it became a huge
success. Before, few business owners actually knew if they were operating at a profit or a loss

Various Rocket Propellants and Their Characterstics
Rocket
A rocket is a missile, spacecraft, aircraft or other vehicle which obtains thrust from a rocket engine.
In all rockets, the exhaust is formed entirely from propellants carried within the rocket before
use.[1] Rocket engines work by action and reaction. Rocket engines push rockets forwards simply
by throwing their exhaust backwards extremely fast.
Rockets for military and recreational uses date back to at least 13th century China.[2] Significant
scientific, interplanetary and industrial use did not occur until the 20th century, when rocketry was
the enabling technology of the Space Age, including setting foot on the moon.

Rocket propellant
Rocket propellant is mass that is stored in some form of propellant tank, prior to being used as
the propulsive mass that is ejected from a rocket engine in the form of a fluid jet to produce thrust.
A fuel propellant is often burned with an oxidizer propellant to produce large volumes of very hot
gas. These gases expand and push on a nozzle, which accelerates them until they rush out of the
back of the rocket at extremely high speed, making thrust. Sometimes the propellant is not burned,
but can be externally heated for more performance. For smaller attitude control thrusters, a
compressed gas escapes the spacecraft through a propelling nozzle.
Chemical rocket propellants are most commonly used, which undergo exothermic chemical
reactions to produce hot gas used by a rocket for propulsive purposes.
In ion propulsion, the propellant is made of electrically charged atoms (ions), which are
electromagnetically pushed out of the back of the spacecraft. Magnetically accelerated ion drives
are not usually considered to be rockets however, but a similar class of thrusters use electrical
heating and magnetic nozzles.
Chemical propellants
There are three main types of propellants: solid, liquid, and hybrid.
Solid propellants

public loved it. She began her story as the humble woman she was, unsure where to go or what to
do with her life. Once she had decided on West Africa, she inquired of all my friends as a
beginning what they knew of West Africa. 1 Most of her friends knew nothing, and the few that
had some knowledge highly discouraged her from going. Most doctors called it the deadliest spot
on earth, referencing the highly contagious and dangerous diseases residing in that region.2 For all
intents and purposes, an introduction such as this would have immediately captivated the reader,
drawing them into an unfamiliar and dangerous world that they wanted to know more about. Before
traveling, she attempted to educate herself on what West Africa was like, and was interested to find
that most of the information could be found under the following different headings...The Dangers
of West Africa...The Disagreeables of West Africa.... The Diseases of West Africa...The Worst
Possible Things You can do in West Africa. 10 With titles such as these, it shows just how
important the titles of Kingsley s own works were, and how even on the front page she attempted to
refute many of the stereotypes about the region at that

Target Vs Best Buy Essay
Best Buy is widely established as one of the leading consumer electronic stores across the globe,
labeled as a category killer retailer within the consumer electronics genre. Target, a discount store,
acts as one of the many competitors within the electronics field despite the store having a wider
breadth of available merchandise for the customer to consider. Ranging from clothing to furniture to
even a section for groceries, Target aims to meet many needs that the consumer may have. Best Buy
caters to a more narrow selection of needs such as appliances, television and home theater, car
electronics, and more. Their focused range gives them the benefit of being able to provide a
better selection of products within each respective category so the customer is able to find
specifically what they are searching for, while Target has a lesser product breadth and depth
since they possess a larger range of merchandise categories. According to Best Buy s corporate
page, more than 70% of the U.S. population lives within 15 minutes of a Best Buy location (Target
Corporate. (2018). With over 1,500 stores in North America, Best Buy primarily operates in the
suburbs, but does have a few locations stretching into major cities such as Chicago with a storefront

Employees with the appropriate knowledge are designated to each merchandise department and
will actively approach customers and inquire if assistance is needed, which makes sense since the
products available for purchase have greater potential for complexity and a need for explanation as
opposed to Target. Target, while dependent on the department in question, tends to be more hands
off and will not approach customers unless prompted to. The electronic department is the sole
location in the store with trained staff, however they are not to the expertise of Best

Conversion To Catholic Christianity Conversion to Catholic Christianity was made by one of the first Frankish kings Clovis in 496, and such conversion had a profound political influence on the future development of the Carolingians. During the beginning of the Carolingian dynasty, Pepin the Short, son of the Mayor of the Palace, was the one who had the real power, but he was not satisfied. He looked for a powerful outside force, that is Roman Church at this time, to approve his powerful position, since there was no more effective way than religion to control the beliefs of people. • 4. Symbolism In The White Heron The White Heron depicts a story of a little girl who leads a life of respect and love of nature rather than that of fortune. Early on in the story, she meets a boy who is a self proclaimed ornithologist, a scientist that studies birds. He is willing to pay ten dollars to whomever can show him the White Heron he had once seen. It is now up to Sylvia, the young girl, to make a decision either in favor of the ornithologist or the white heron. Ultimately, she will be making a decision to acquiesce to male dominance or not. The pine tree in which Sylvia climbs in order to see the white heron up close can be represented as a symbol of life. Now she thought of the tree with a new excitement, for why, if one climbed it at break of day, could not one see all the world, and easily discover whence the white heron flewВ… (Jewett 466). The tree actually takes on the characteristics of an animal, when Sylvia is climbing the tree and the twigs scratch her with angry like talons (Jewett 466). Sylvia continues on this obstacle up and up the tree, and continuing on towards her revelation. The birds of the forest begin to sing louder and louder as Sylvia climbs, meaning she is coming ever so closely to the top of the tree or the climax of her new life. She finally sees the white heron and is eager with anticipation to tell the boy of the path to find it. To make sure that the student knew what part of the head the teacher was talking about, the teacher would point to a particular part of the diagram and have the student touch that part of themselves. When the diagram was up on the black board there were also darkened symbols on certain parts such as the tip of nose, upper and lower lip etc. The next step was to erase all other lines and have the student do the same procedure as before but this time they had to know where all the symbols were. The purpose for learning all of these symbols was so that the teacher would be able to get into more detailed diagrams and actually show the deaf student what part of the throat and mouth to move to pronounce a particular sound (Bell 51 54). Another way that he was able to teach his students was using the manometric, pressurized, capsule, which enclosed a gas flame. The capsule worked when the vibrations of a voice acted on a membrane that would expand the gas flame and result in a flickering like the teeth of a saw (Mackenzie 66). The flickering would resemble the characteristics of a particular sound. The reason that Bell wanted to use this device was to see if he could discover the shape or form of a vibration that was a characteristic of the elements of English speech (Mackenzie 67). Then he could represent this information on paper for the use of his deaf pupils. With this device he could have a pupil put his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Leff and Simmons detail the pre code vulgarity and blatant sexuality in films and then recount the multitude of reactions of various stakeholders, including responses from the Catholic church, newspaper mogul Randolph Hearst, the Women s Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) and concerned public officials among many others. This is how the author, Catalina Lobo Guerrero, begins her article. We can already tell she is not a fan of El Salvador, and after reading what she had to say about it, it is understandable. Women in El Salvador are considered a problem. They are raped and killed, but somehow they are the issue. El Salvador is listed among the world s deadliest countries for women. The article states that in 2016 alone, 524 women were killed. These are only the bodies that are recovered and brought to the morgue. She talks to a specialist, Dr. Mendez who has had to deal with many women who have been raped and left pregnant. Since abortion is illegal in El Salvador it is difficult for Dr. Mendez to turn away the women who were raped. Dr. Mendez stated that she was once threatened with jail time because she wanted to help a woman whose emergency contraception did not work after she was raped. She was told not to get involved or she would be put behind bars. The author tells of another story which involves a 19 year old girl who gave birth outside the hospital. Her baby did not survive so she was convicted of aggravated homicide. The punishment is a 30 year prison sentence. It is sad to think that a doctor trying to help a poor woman who is pregnant, not by choice, will be put behind bars, but not the man who left her that way. There should be a simple solution to the violence against women in El Salvador; if they all flee the country then they will not have to experience any harm. That would be a solution, but packing up and leaving your home is more difficult than it may seem. Sure, they would be away from all the terrifying crimes, but they would no longer see their family and friends. • 12. Essay on The Customs of Rosh Hashanah The Customs of Rosh Hashanah Rosh Hashanah falls on the first of Tishri, a Jewish month which falls in September. It is regarded as a high holy day, on which all normal activity ceases. Even those Jews who are not particularly observant will make an effort to attend the synagogue. It is known as Yomim Norain, or day of awe. It is a day on which one should show humility to God and acknowledge that whatever our intentions may be we will descend into sin. On this day one should become particularly aware of sin, as it is a day for reflection. It is not intended to be a negative activity, but to induce positive behavior, as it is very brave to face up to weaknesses and mistakes . Rosh... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The next morning it is customary for the whole family to go to the synagogue, which will be decorated in white. In particular, the Parochet, which hangs in front of the ark every fabric is decked out in white, a symbol of purity, to inspire a purer life. The rabbi will also be wearing white, to symbolize a burial shroud, called a Kittel, reminding one of mortality. The service proceeds with normal prayers, such as the Shinaar, the prevalent theme being that God is the King. The shofar is sounded throughout, with three distinctive notes Tekiah, which is firm, Shebharim, which is a broken sound, and Teruah, which is a tremor. The readings that take place are focused on motherhood, particularly on the conception of Isaac. The last action of the festival takes place in the afternoon. • 16. Departures Storm Jameson In Departures, Storm Jameson depicts her isolation as a child and its continuation into adulthood. Behind the cold barriers that Jameson builds around herself in both her child and adult life, an unending cycle of fear continues within her. This cycle is reflected in the narrative structure of the anecdote. Jameson s authorial choices to employ Labov s elements in a disjointed fashion and have a brief complicating action reinforce her social detachment both as a child and an adult. Along with the disjointed narrativeelements, an omitted coda and resolution convey that the detachment continues throughout her life in a cycle of fear and isolation. With the intent of creating a structural detachment that reflects her own emotional detachment, Jameson, as author, puts together an orientation and complicating action that don t appear to go together. On a September train ride, distant memories and thoughts blur past the grown Jameson s eyes, such as the journeys made feverish by unmanageable longings and ambitions, night journeys in wartime (15) and continue to make their way to the forefront of her mind with a picture of the darkened corridor crammed with young men in clumsy khaki, smoking, falling asleep, [and] journeys with a heavy baby in one arm (Jameson 15). Before Jameson as adult can make her way back to her memory as a child, she must travel through many other memories of departures and journeys. This roundabout way in which Jameson brings her reader into her memories structurally reflects the detached feelings she has for herself as a child. It suggests a physiological separation between Jameson and herself because she cannot easily think about her past. These detached feelings are enforced textually when she uses the third person to refer to herself as the child (15) and to those presumably close to her like her mother, whom she calls the captain s wife (16). By creating this structural and textual detachment, Jameson emphasizes her emotional isolation from herself as a child. Before speaking about herself as a child, she must search through her memories like a knot of adders uncoiling themselves, (15) which suggests that it is painful for Jameson to reach back to her childhood ... John Swift s A Modest Proposal In Jonathan Swift s satirical work, A Modest Proposal, the reader is presented with a horrible concept using extremely effective language and logos; Swift uses strong speech, rational tone, and complex grammar to convince readers that eating children will solve all the problems in 19th century Ireland. Swift s overall goals in his pamphlet, however, is not to actually encourage eating babies, which is why it is of satire, but is instead to raise awareness of Ireland s conditions for living, failing political figures, and the tyranny brought by England. Swift states in his sub title, For Preventing the Children of poor People in Ireland, from being a Burden to their Parents or Country; and for making them beneficial to the Public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The idea is so intense that it demonstrates the overall irony of the piece. It is also worth pointing out that this line comes late in the essay. Swift lulls the reader into a false sense of trust by beginning with descriptions of the position of the poor in Ireland. The reader may think at first that this is a serious essay, making the point all the more loud when it eventually appears. The idea itself comes from a very knowing American, which is a small attack on the Americas and American colonies. Rhetorically, the first couple of quotes stated are the strongest in bringing attention to Ireland s issues. It s comical in the fact that he uses such a horrible idea to raise the red flags in the minds of the Irish people. In an earlier paragraph Swift writes, It is a melancholy object to those who walk through this great town, or travel in the country, when they see the streets, the roads, and cabin doors crowded with beggars of the female sex, followed by three, four, or six children, all in rags, ad importuning every passenger for an alms (Swift par.1). This quote should be understood as a highlight to the poor living conditions of Ireland. The quote is interesting because Swift does two things in it; he continues building his satire, which is the world the reader will be thinking about, while nonchalantly hinting the underlining theme of poor ... With the advent of the internet, it is becoming more difficult to curtail many of the illegal activities individuals engage in regards to drug use. Heroin in particular is very pervasive in the United States as it is a drugthat is highly addictive. In America, drugs are becoming a very serious issue as immigrants enter into the country illegally carrying the drug with them. Heroin, although mainly created in Afghanistan and China, is often brought to the United States illegally from Latin countries. By entering into the country these individuals provide drugs and other narcotics to disseminate among the masses. Even more troublesome, it seems that little is being done to help prevent the influence of drugs within American society (Eric, 2008). According to the 2008 National Survey on Drug Use, the number of current heroin users increased from 153,000 in 2007 to 213,000 in 2008. One issue that is especially interesting is substance abuseamong many young individuals and how that affects HIV rates within the American population. Many individuals are not concerned with drug use among the young population. It is my contention however, that drug use among the young has a profound impact on the society in which we live in. Causes Of The Lost Colony Of Roanoke The lost colony of Roanoke is one of the most notorious mysteries in American history; the cryptic clues left at the abandoned settlement and the lack of any concrete evidence make it the focus of wild speculation and theories . Within three years what would have been the first permanent English colony that was formed in the New World disappeared in 1590, only leaving two small clues behind. The colony mayor John White returned to the island to discover the word Croatoan had been carved into the palisade surrounding the settlement as well as Cro carved into a nearby tree. It appeared as if the colonists had disassembled all buildings, packed up, and left without a trace. Throughout extensive research and sweeping the island there have been no remains or signs of Indian attacks found leaving one mysterious question unanswered: what was the cause of the disappearance of the Roanoke colonyand where did they go? Roanoke was the first English settlement in the New World, founded in August of 1585 by the English explorer Sir Walter Raleigh. The first colony suffered the usual lack of food supplies and Indian attacks, forcing them to return to England in 1586 on a ship that was captained by Sir Francis Drake. While the physical examples such as the final battle, the murder of The Tod and the violent acts by Buddha and his gang could certainly be classified as evil, it is my belief that the brainwashing of the students and the fanatical powers of illusion Mr. Karle wields are more insidious, swiftly inhabiting and manifesting in the minds of people in a way that is more powerful than any outright acts of violence. The thought of his wife allowed Breyten Breytenbach to escape from the horrors of his surroundings in prison and gave him psychological freedom; word from her let him escape into a world of space, peace and freedom created for him in her letters, memories of being together with his wife transported him psychologically to another time and place where he had been free. The image of sky is of vast expanse of space, of freedom to soar in all directions, not being confined to the ground В– there are no boundaries in the sky, it is an infinite space. His thoughts are, therefore, with her letter, free to soar in any direction with no boundaries. That is shown in the style of most of the poem (the parts that deal with the letter) В– it is a steady stream of thought which roams in all directions. The word sky is used in another part of the poem В– В…suspended by the sky of your words В– emphasising that her words, her letter, bring him freedom. В…your letter is delightful, stretching out lighter than thoughts of a flowerВ… stretching out portrays the same idea as unfolding ; of releasing, freeing from confinement. Stretching out increases space and therefore freedom, space to develop thoughts and feelings. When Breytenbach thinks of his wife, he feels joy and hope, and even when he is not entirely escaping from reality, his perspective on the world around him is slightly altered, and is not quite as grim and hideous. In the poem in the middle of the night, he describes the prisoners on death row В– В… the voices of those / to be hanged within days / rise up already sounding thin / with the terror of stiff ropesВ… In your letter is delightful (after having just read the letter from his wife) В– В…how they sing, / they who will jolt from obscurity to the lightВ… The tone ... Tolkien in 1937, is a story of a Hobbit. This Hobbit s name is Bilbo Baggins, from Hobbiton. He is a respected Hobbit who never did anything out of the ordinary, or unpredictable. One morning Gandalf, a wise wizard came to Bilbo inviting him on a journey. Bilbo on any other occasion would not have any part in an adventure, but his mother s side of the family got the better of him. On his way to rediscover Long forgotten gold, Bilbo, and his new dwarvish friends, run into many trials and challenges. In the year 2013 the second part of the book was made into movie, directed by Peter Jackson. Peter Jackson decided to make many changes from the original book to the movie. He hung these both outside to let the other wargs and goblins no not to come near. A goblin s head is stuck outside the gate and warg skin is nailed to a tree just beyond. (Tolkien 131).This lets us see just how ruthless Beorn can get. Also with Beorn s strength, the dwarves could feel threatened, but through the book we cannot see that. During the movie we see Beorn serving their breakfast as more of a friend than just a resource. Beorn in Peter Jackson s eyes is depicted as more of a level headed person with a backstory of hatred toward the Wargs and Goblins. • 35. Understanding Of Basic Solubility Principles And... The purpose of this experiment was to apply the understanding of basic solubility principles and precipitation reactions to identify two unknown cations in a given solution. The first two processes involved adding various acids and basis to the unknown solution to observe different precipitation reactions. The unknown solution contained either silver or lead and either barium or calcium. For unknown solution one, adding a sample of hydrochloric acid to the unknown solution started the experiment. This was imperative because it triggered a precipitationreaction, creating PbCl2 or AgCl. HCl was an ideal acid that was used because it was soluble to Calcium or Barium but atleast partially insoluble to Ag and Pb, allowing for the Calcium or Barium to have remained in solution, become isolated in a new test tube, and set aside for later use.1 The chloride ions are much more attractive to the silver and lead ions compared to the calcium or barium, which allowed some to precipitate while others to have remained in solution.2 After the initial decanter, deionized water was added to the precipitate and the tube was placed in boiling water. This is an essential step, because this allows for the dissolution of any PbCl that might have precipitated. Since PbCl is slightly insoluble, if there was Pb in the unknown solution, the heating process would have caused it to become mostly soluble in the water. The addition of heat as a source of energy was enough to break the attractive forces ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. How Did The Cash Register Change The World Imagine running a business without a cash register. Imagine how unorganized, chaotic, and difficult it would be to handle money through every employee without the cash register. This is no longer a problem for any business anymore thanks to James Ritty. The cash register was invented in 1879 by James Ritty, a saloonkeeper in Dayton, Ohio. (thecorememory.com). The prototype machine had a large, clock like face and a row of keys for entering amounts from 5 cents to 95 cents (by fives) and from $1 to $9. A mechanism inside the machine recorded total sales. (americanhistory.si.edu). This was how the first cash registerworked, and was the base model for many more to come. He created this invention because he believed that his employees were stealing money from his saloon, and with the cash register being invented, they no longer can. Finally, the cash register was the most important invention in American history, due to its major impact on businesses around the world. After the cash register was invented, it became a huge success. Before, few business owners actually knew if they were operating at a profit or a loss (thecorememory.com), and now companies can easily see how much money they are making, and what they... In all rockets, the exhaust is formed entirely from propellants carried within the rocket before use.[1] Rocket engines work by action and reaction. Rocket engines push rockets forwards simply by throwing their exhaust backwards extremely fast. Rockets for military and recreational uses date back to at least 13th century China.[2] Significant scientific, interplanetary and industrial use did not occur until the 20th century, when rocketry was the enabling technology of the Space Age, including setting foot on the moon. Rockets are used for fireworks, weaponry, ejection seats, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rocket propellant Rocket propellant is mass that is stored in some form of propellant tank, prior to being used as the propulsive mass that is ejected from a rocket engine in the form of a fluid jet to produce thrust. A fuel propellant is often burned with an oxidizer propellant to produce large volumes of very hot gas. These gases expand and push on a nozzle, which accelerates them until they rush out of the back of the rocket at extremely high speed, making thrust. Sometimes the propellant is not burned, but can be externally heated for more performance. For smaller attitude control thrusters, a compressed gas escapes the spacecraft through a propelling nozzle. Chemical rocket propellants are most commonly used, which undergo exothermic chemical reactions to produce hot gas used by a rocket for propulsive purposes. In ion propulsion, the propellant is made of electrically charged atoms (ions), which are electromagnetically pushed out of the back of the spacecraft. Magnetically accelerated ion drives are not usually considered to be rockets however, but a similar class of thrusters use electrical heating and magnetic nozzles. Chemical propellants There are three main types of propellants: solid, liquid, and hybrid. Solid propellants History The earliest rockets were created hundreds of years ago by the Chinese, and ... Target Vs Best Buy Essay Best Buy is widely established as one of the leading consumer electronic stores across the globe, labeled as a category killer retailer within the consumer electronics genre. Target, a discount store, acts as one of the many competitors within the electronics field despite the store having a wider breadth of available merchandise for the customer to consider. Best Buy caters to a more narrow selection of needs such as appliances, television and home theater, car electronics, and more. Their focused range gives them the benefit of being able to provide a better selection of products within each respective category so the customer is able to find specifically what they are searching for, while Target has a lesser product breadth and depth since they possess a larger range of merchandise categories.
